Remedy Eating Green Tea Leaves, Coffee Beans?

04/01/2012: D from Anonymous: Hi Ted. I have so enjoyed your notes on earthclinic over the years, and I'd appreciate some feedback about eating green tea. Here's my story and the reason why I'm looking for feedback:

I've had ulcerative colitis for over a decade. Hospitalized twice. Spent over $20,000 on natural remedies and supplements. I have typically treated it with L-glutamine and avoiding caffeine. But, I've had more diarrhea the last few years....scar tissue? Two months ago I started taking a popular chlorophyll juice. About 1/2 inch in the bottom of a glass full of water right before bed. Wow! The first glass cleaned me out. But only the first glass... I then had half the normal trips to the bathroom!

I then somehow got turned on to cinnamon. Started taking two teaspoons a day. Wow!! For the first time in a decade I was getting solid/formed bowel movements!! But, I still had emergencies... Then, somehow, three days ago, I had this random thought: "If I cook veggies and drink only the juice, throwing the cooked veggies away, then I'm throwing away most of the nutrients. So, what about coffee and tea? Does brewing these things take them out of their natural nutritional balance???"

See, I love coffee and tea.....but they clean me out!! Had tea just last week and spent considerable time in the bathroom! Why does it do that? Is it the caffeine? I thought "What if I ate the ground beans instead of brewing them?!?" I concluded that if coffee caused irritation because only some nutrients were in the brew, then maybe there were actually nutrients in the grounds that balanced the coffee and stopped the irritation? Soooo, I ate one teaspoon of raw grounds. The result? Zero irritation! I felt great and had the calmest bowel in years! The next day I did a whole tablespoon of grounds. Again--perfect.

So, yesterday, I decided to try green tea. I cut open two bags and ate the tea raw. About 30 minutes later I had not only an increase in alertness but also a huge self confidence that lasted over 10 hours. I was still wide awake after a full days work! Typically, two bags of brewed tea sends me to the bathroom for about an hour.... Not this time.

Today, I repeated the experiment eating three teabags. Result? The calmest bowel I ever remember having. No irritation. No urge. No negative whatsoever. So Ted, the conundrum I'm having is that there is a bunch of misinformation on the Web about eating regular tea. Some people say that it isn't safe and should be brewed... Other people call it dung and that you should only eat whole leaves.... Still, other people say that if eating tea had benefits, then the Chinese would have never started brewing it... I don't know. All I know is that in 14 years, taking all the best supplements, reading all the research, etc... that NOTHING has had the impact on my body that eating coffee and tea has had these last four days! Yes, the chlorophyll and cinnamon have no doubt contributed......

I'm just speechless... because I can't drink coffee and tea.... but I can eat them??? Thank you for commenting on this!

04/01/2012: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Well, the cure is possible and I found those that helped. You have to understand there are basically two aspects of ulcerative colitis., the cause is mostly mycobacterium, which gives rise (after they are killed or living) to lipopolysaccharides. The lipopolysaccharides cause the inflammation which causes ulcerative colitis, but the mycobacterium also causes them.

As for the green tea it contains tannic acid, and most of it is on the leaf, some is in the liquid, that is why green tea you have to prepare it yourself, with the green tea leaves. In fact most of my remedies require that any herbs or any tea, you must consume the powder of the leaves and nothing is thrown away. You also get the same results (approximately) if you also consume tannic acid. Basically its the tannic acid that kills the mycobacterium in general, and some of the polysaccharides, but definitely doesn't really speed the healing process in the regeneration of tissues cells at all, but it does reduce the inflammation on the intestinal tract. Any nurse or doctors will tell you that if you have diarrhea, always take the green tea (especially eating leafs) or Coke (it contains caffeine. So it was both the green tea and the caffeine that actually helped, especially the alertness definitely comes from the caffeine. But it may help some people and it may hurt some people on caffeine due to differences in biochemical imbalances that exist in the body. As you go through the "general" green tea with different applications, you get different aspects and therefore some of the conflicting information, even different brands, but if you are dealing with ulcerative colitis then green tea helps in case the person has constipation, though that seems to occur more in Crohn's disease then anything else.

As to the coffee, in Thailand we drink green coffee, it has less or no carcinogens, but once you roast a coffee, then you get hydrocarbons, and you don't want that, because people with this condition are vulnerable to colon cancer.

As to your being helped glutamine is correct, it does help the healing but the bacterium of mycobacterium has to be rid of it or lessened, and you must have normal blood sugar to begin with as glutamine helps the healing. But it will always be the lysine and N acetyl cysteine to help the healing. To kill these mycobacterium is cinnamon, but they caused irritation and this is why lowering the inflammation initially will help. Boswellic acid will kill them too, but without the inflammation. So someone with abnormal blood sugar above 100 mg,/dL might require more, such as gymnema slyvestre. But someone with serious bleeding probably going to need less humic acid, but more vitamin K1 and K2, but also aloe vera oil. And someone who is seriously weakened will need more N acetyl cysteine, selenium, and a shot of B12. You have to really understand that most people who do have ulcerative colitus has a serious deficient vitamin K, this pattern of vitamin K has been deficient in human diets for the last 100 years, and making it worse, with margarine. Under no conditions are these people allowed to eat vegetable oils and margarine, it will lead a person to a hospital just taking plenty of potato chips and french fries!

But you always need DHEA 200 mg and melatonin at night at least 10 mg to help treat the inflammation and also some killing of mycobacterium, DHEA actually increases immune system indirectly, as does Lysine, the white blood cells, but inflammation is absolutely essential.

As to the greens, copper chlorophyllin, chlorella. and perhaps spirulina also help but very differently in ulcerative colitis. Copper chlorophyllin works as copper is toxic to most mycobacterium, but then so do MSM. Chlorella works by getting rid of excess heavy metals as they are required for mycobacterium growth (as do virus!) so they ultimately performed recycling work, but you can die prematurely if they overtake the body as there is some signs of decaying within the body! Spirulina works similar to chlorella although I think less aggressively then chlorella.

So yes it is a matter of time to cure ulcerative colitis, first the cause (mycobacterium), second the leftovers (lipopolysaccharides), third the healing of ulcerative colitis. The immune system can "see" the mycobacterium, with astralagus, DHEA, melatonin, in different aspects of the immune systems too long to discuss. The lipopolysaccharides can be broke to pieces to neutralize, such as bromelain, digestive enzymes. The mycobacterium may be destroyed with cinnamon. cinnamic aldehyde (less extent), ellagic acid, tannic acid, green tea, humic acid also. The aloe helps accelerated healing of the intestinal tract, but also glutamine, but mostly the lysine, glycine and vitamin C (major components of collagen). The glutamine also helps, but some BCAA (branched chain amino acid also). My simple method is basically humic acid, aloe vera oil and lysine as the major elements, but depending upon my clients I can have hundreds of variations, but it rest on the understanding, and then developing the strategies to cure ulcerative colitis.

Any way this is my latest information so far on ulcerative colitis, as time will permit. So what I have found is basically the same as what you found, both coffee and tea.

05/31/2012: Daniel from Spokane Valley, Wa, Usa replies: Hi Ted and all on Earth Clinic, So, I thought I found something great when I originally sent through this post on eating green tea.

I ended up having a great month with virtually no symptoms. But, one day I forgot my green tea and went about the day.... only to find a massive amount of blood and diarrhea.

Turns out, the tannins in the green tea as AMAZING for masking the symptoms of UC.... But the caffeine was actually making it worse. (My success with the green tea led me to taking green tea extracts for energy and that put me in a flare.)

Just got out of the hospital a few days back, and what I've learned over the last two months is:

Decaf green tea is great. The organic decaf uses carbon dioxide to decaf the tea without really decreasing the tannin content.

Limit fat intake to less than 30 grams MAX per day.

I'd love to comment more about a bunch of stuff. But, if you're reading this, just know that decaf organic green tea and eliminating fat does some amazing stuff for UC.

Anyway, hope that helps.

Seeking Proper Diet for Ulcerative Colitis

01/10/2012: B from Anonymous: Ted, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis three years ago. Due to multiple flare ups, my disease is reaching the chronic stage. In desperation, I searched the internet to educate myself about ulcerative colitis. By reading posts, mostly yours, I realized that my doctor either doesn't know anything about uc or doesn't want to inform me about the horrible disease. He told me the disease is an autoimmune disease that attacks the colon, it's probably hereditary (even though no one in my family, that I know of, has it), he doesn't know the cause of it, and there's no cure.

On January 1, 2012, after suffering a seven week flare up, I changed my diet. No sugar, starches (rice, pasta), vegetables that grow under ground, bread, dairy, oils (except coconut), and fruit. Only water to drink. It's the candida diet because I think all the antibiotics and steroids my doctor prescribed, over the years, caused candida overgrowth. I AM STARVING! I try to make the best of it but I grew up with meals consisting of rice or pasta, and bread with every meal. I've been reading about coconut flour and xylitol. http://products.mercola.com/coconut-flour and www.healthyindulgences.net/2009/07/healthy-cake-with-secret-part-2-gluten.html Gives me something to look forward to. But first I must suffer through three months of curing this disease, which I am determined to do.

I have read your treatment for ulcerative colitis. So far, this is what I understand: Take tsp aloe vera oil, 1/16 tsp humic acid, and DMSO orally (before meals) 3 x daily. Also tsp aloe vera oil, 1/16 tsp humic acid, DMSO and one drop Lugol's 5% solution, rectally, 3 x daily. Take one tbsp coconut oil, orally, a few minutes before each meal. Take Cinnamon oil, one drop Lugol's iodine solution in one liter of water (with baking soda to alkalize?), orally, 3 x daily. Alkalize all water. After three months, and all symptoms are gone, maintain with humic acid once or twice weekly, betaine hydrochloride with every meal, and alkalized water after every meal. My concerns are:

  1. What foods should I avoid while killing the mycobaterium? Can I go back to my normal eating habits after three months of strictly following the treatment plan, (except for refined sugar, hydrogenated oils, seasoning with soy sauce and msg, and consuming dairy products. I never want to consume those poisons again)?
  2. What cereal is safe while killing mycobacterium? I love the taste of milk but I don't want to consume animal's milk. Is soy milk safe?
  3. Where can I find 100% humic acid in powder form?
  4. How do I consume the humic acid and aloe vera oil orally? Do I mix them with water? How do I take it rectally? In a douche bottle diluted with water or liquid? Make a suppository? Wouldn't know how to do that. So confused.
  5. What is DMSO and where can I find it?
  6. How much DMSO should I add with the aloe vera oil and humic acid, orally?
  7. Should the DMSO be added to the rectal solution of aloe vera oil and humic acid? If so, how much?
  8. Do I alkalize the cinnamon oil and iodine solution? 7.5 to 8.5 ph?
  9. What part of the day should I drink the cinnamon oil and iodine solution? Between meals, after meals?
  10. How much baking soda per so many ounces of water to alkalize bottled drinking water? I've been using tsp. baking soda per 10 oz. water.
  11. How do I sterilize humic acid with h2o2 (peroxide?) if the humic acid is powder?
  12. How long before meals should I take the humic acid and aloe vera oil orally?
  13. Do I take humic acid once weekly, betaine hydrochloride with every meal, and alkalized water after every meal for the rest of my life to keep the disease from returning?
  14. I understand that I must give up dairy products/ calcium, iron permanently.
  15. I read about two types of whole grain flower, teff and spelt, but they both have iron. Is any iron safe? What about vegetables with iron? So confused.

Thank you so much for your time and patience with me. I am anxiously waiting for your response. Hope to hear from you soon.

01/13/2012: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: I have updated the ulcerative colitis remedy to include digestive enzymes, although not necessary, but unripe papaya is necessary or at least bromelain will help. The cause of mycobacterium is simply a fungus type of bacteria, and as all fungus, it responds also to antifungal diets. The elements of minerals and nutrition that is essential to killing them are MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), DMSO, interferes with the fungus sulfur cycles. Once the living mycobacterium are dead, they continue to be inflammatory from their lipopolysaccharides which the body doesn't digest them. I think you are at that final stage. But to kill these disease you have to understand first that they are fungal in nature (hence natural fungicides) or essential in human diets the following substance are necessary:

  • Sodium molybdate or ammonium molybdate (a pinch a day)
  • MSM (1000 mg x 5) or DMSO would do too, but I prefer both
  • Boron is found as Borax, in the States, it is referred to as 10 mule team borax, here I can get pharma grade Borax.
  • Hydrogen peroxide 3% in one capful of drinking water would eliminate in blood to prevent their spread.
  • Milk Thistle would facilitate the removal of lipopolysaccharides through the liver.
  • Sarsasparilla helps in getting rid of it too.
  • B3 niacinamide is rather toxic to most fungus, including mycobacterium found in Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease. 250 mg x 3 times a day 500 mg in the evening is just one suggestion.
  • Fish oil will counteract the lipopolysaccharides by reduction of inflammation due to DHA and EPA content,

I cannot cure everyone and I cannot have a complete cure until I can cure everyone. So it's never perfect no matter, but this is good enough for now! The prime source comes from milk, milk products, cheeses, and the like, but it is also found in dirt and roots of plants too. They resist heat and traditional sterilization which you have to use other means, non traditional, such as ammonium molybdate, ammonium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, borax treatment or cinnamon oil treated to kill them for example, you can used also enzymes that breakdown polysaccharides, and other means.

Fungus for these generally "grow" inside healthy cells and the white blood cells have to attack them, so the doctors blame on autoimmunity, when it is really the fungus is the problem. Taming the problems by dealing with deficiencies that are antifungal makes more sense, such as copper chlorophyllin (alias chlorophyll), boron, molybdenum are but examples.

Now for your questions:

  1. Answer: if you add cinnamon to all of them, you can. Or regularly small pinch of sodium molybate or borax may also help.
  2. Answer: Take soy, as milk product is common source.
  3. Answer: most plant nurseries actually have humic acid. That's fine just get a clean one. If not liquid humic will do, you don't need that much.
  4. Answer: You mixed with water humic acid until a light brown solution. Aloe oil can be consumed directly or with food or empty stomach. You can do enemas with very little humc acid and aloe oil. Say 1/16 teaspoon humic acid in a liter of water added with aloe oil, you only do just half or less then a half of liter of water.
  5. Answer: Well FDA rules makes it illegal, but they do sell it over the internet. It is also sold under the counter. They don't want the cure so you have to find your own sources.
  6. Answer: Just 10 drops should do or more then this you smell like garlic.
  7. Answer; I prefer MSM added rectally with the others.
  8. Answer: Cinnamon is added at 1 drop per liter would be enough, as to iodine maybe 10 drops per liter. You don't use the entire liter for enemas, you just use what you are comfortable with.
  9. Answer: any part of day, but must try separate, not everybody likes iodine or cinnamon, and see if your body agrees with it first. You can get allergies I even have a woman here who is allergic to cotton, so she wears polyester!
  10. Answer between 1/4 to 1/2 is sufficient
  11. Answer: say you add humic acid first, add 1/4 water in one liter and just 5 drops of H2O2 3% and wait for 5 minutes, then your ready.
  12. - 15 Answer: Yes you do.

01/23/2012: Stuart from London, Ont, Canada replies: I was actually in hospital on a pregnasone drip and other medication in a build up preparation for the removal of my colon. This was Sept 2009, Since April 2009 I had lost 80lbs in weight, Anascol, Pregnazone, Remocaid, and you name it, did not stop my colon from nearly shutting down, The medical and surgical team had no other options than to remove my colon. I had been suffering from chronic colitis for 7 years.

3 days before the operation my son convinced me to sign myself out of hospital and visit a naturopath in Toronto that he had investigated. I visited the Naturopath and was informed the Dietician at the hospital who was building me up for the operation was aggravating the situation even more due to the foods that I was given to eat.

To cut a long story short. After 6 weeks of treatment I was visiting the washroom 1-2 times a day with a reasonable formed stool. What a relief from visiting 15 times a day constant diarrhea, I am taking no drugs at all!! My natual supplements are all that I am taking, and I buy them all on line from the USA ( 50% CHEAPER) Slippery Elm, Probiotics, _____ fish oil. That's it! I now eat and drink whatever I want with no after effects. This may be a mistake and I do have to cut down on my drinking and spicy food intake. However I have put on 60lbs and feeling good.

The doctor and surgeon are now realizing there was an alternative to drugs that saved my colon. The secret I believe was being totally dedicated to the diet I was placed on for 6 months, It was hard!! But I believe it cured and healed my internal abcesses, That is really what colitis is. I have now 4 people who have recieved the same treatment as I have with the same results. In conclusion the Doctors are not experienced in some health concerns in preventive natual healing, they have been taught to treat the symptons of sickness with drugs. Go find yourself a good naturopath and stick with the reccommendations 100%. P.S. Research a natourapath who specializes in chronic colitis.

Good Luck

04/21/2012: Care from Surrey, B.c. replies: Try this BREAKFAST SHAKE the first thing you eat in the morning if you are in the midst of ulcers the bran may sting a bit but the oil will soothe

2 bananas

5, 6, 7 med. Sized strawberries/or 1cup of frozen rasberries

2 heaping tsp honey (or less if you prefer, keep in mind honey's qualities)

1 cup of probiotic yogurt

2 heaping tbls. Of wheat germ/or other form of bran

place all ingredients in a juice jug and blend with a power stir mixer. serves about 3 cups /3 people

This makes you feel so much better!

You should follow up with:

Saffron Oil for a few days (I take the pills. Follow instructions on bottle for quantities)

then switch to

Olive Oil approx 1 to 2 tsp. a day for 2 days then move onto Cod Liver Oil then Flaxseed Oil or an Omega 3 pill. Switch your oils around as to NOT over work the liver.

You don't have to take large quantities of oil and stop for a day or so if you notice fatigue on the liver.

Have a cup of Coffee 1or 2 a day it works well as long as you stay hydrated with Water if you notice dehydration stop drinking coffee and rehydrate

This works simply

10/05/2012: Cigxman from Dc, Md, USA replies: Hi Ted, I have every med I have read you talk about from humic, to cinnamin, to zinc to aloe and iodine. I have UC. It is under a little control, but along with some formed bowels I have mucus and a little diahreeah. I am not sure if I need to heal or maintain or something or what. I see Aloe, Humic, DHEA, Cinnamon and maybe baking soda you have mentioned as healers I think when the lining is weak. Is that what the mucus is?

Once healed I think its L glutamine and Lysine and aloe for a few months to strengthen? I am not sure if that is correct. I have some urgency to go after meals and the mucus so I think my lining is not healed. I don't want to take something that makes it get worse and feed the bacteria. Please advise my steps and what order to take things when I get what result. Thanks. me

11/02/2012: Ed2010 from Oakville, Canada replies: This is for Cigxman from Chicago, Il. For UC [ulcerative colitis], mucus is normal in stools. But mucus is not does not indicate the normalcy of stomach, SI, LI. Mucus can be due to infection, weak intestine, leaky gut, inflamed intestine, ulcer or when intestine could not digest the food that becomes partially digested. Mucus is a defence mechanism of the intestine.

Immediate urge to go for a bowel movement is mainly because of parasitic infection either bacteria and amoeba or a combination of multiple parasites. Even if your intestine is weak it will cause an urge to go for a bowel movement because of the reflux of food traveling through the intestine. Eliminating the parasites and strengthening the intestines will totally reduce the symptoms and slowly put in remission.

There are variety of ways to treat the infection either fulvic acid, cinnamon, garlic, acv. First avoid foods causing inflammation. Foods containing Carageenan, GMO foods like sunflower oil, vegetable oil, corn oil, gmo wheat, gmo bread.

Next treat for the infection from top to bottom. For infection (I am not sure whether you will get in your city)

Bael Fruit Powder, this one of the potent and top anti-parasitc, anti-viral, anti-biotic, anti-amoebic food.

For healing and rejuvenating the intestines

Licorice Powder - Licorice heals your intestines and stimulates the enzyme and other fluid secretion necessary for digestion.

Use the following recipe to use both bael and licorice for your UC

In a glass of luke warm water add 1 tsp of bael fruit powder and 1tsp of Licorice Powder mix it well and it set aside for half an hour. Filter it and separate the medicinal juice.

Drink this in an empty stomach early in the moring and evening. This fluid coat your GI starting from the mouth, esophagus, stomach, SI and LI. This juice tastes bit sweet. You can see very good improvement in 2 - 3 weeks.

Next take probiotic foods like saurkraut, kefir, natto, kimchi, miso thereby you are re introducing multiple strains of good bacteria and yeast for your intestinal defence.

Finally, take ted's alkalizing formula 2 times a day because without alkalizing your body you cannot heal.

Good Health thanks

01/03/2012: D from Anonymous: Hi Ted, I read posts on earthclinic.com site for use of Humic Acid for Ulcerative Colitis. Could you please provide me the details on how to start the treatment?

03/21/2012: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: There are two things that work for ulcerative colitis, One humic acid, the exact dose depends on the powder or liquid. The liquid is often 3% to 5%, the powder is pure. If taken too much may lead to constipation, however it is often taken together with aloe vera oil. The exact dose on the low side is 1/16 teaspoon a day only once or twice for powder form, for liquid form 1 teaspoon twice a day. The aloe vera oil is taken 1/2 teaspoon once or twice a day. Eating unripe papaya with every meal also is good, and it helps if bromelain is taken 3 or 4 times a day. The most important is to accelerate the healing of the intestines which will be helped with 5 mg of melatonin 3 times a day with every meal and once before bedtime about 10 to 20 mg. DHEA is between 25 to 100 mg a day. The healing of intestines is expected to require lysine 1/2 teaspoon x 4 times a day, but will require a couple of months to heal them completely. Other things that will help healing are BCAA (branched chain amino acid and glutamine) which are 3000 mg each.

01/18/2013: Enza from Montreal, Quebec replies: Hi Ted, I have been looking for some good advise for my brother who has UC for over 20 years. It is so severe that he had the gastic surgery with bowel reconstrutions. He was OK for many years but in the last few years he is very bad again. We will try this. Hope it works. Thank you.
02/05/2013: B. Rose from San Francisco, Ca replies: Ted, You mention throughout various posts that while attempting to treat UC (using a cocktail of your suggested supplements). I am trying humic acid plus fulvic acid (couldn't easily find plain humic) disolved with a powder magnesium carbonate with citric acid (maybe between 200 and 300 mg) with a zinc oxide lozenge that does contain a little bit of fructose. I got. The first day, it stopped the bleeding (I had also taken a half of a teaspoon of baking soda with apple cider vinegar earlier in the week for three days). On the third day I got the runs. >>>Do I need to take baking soda for the bicarbonates for this combo to work?<<<

You say that the key to success is the avoidance of fats, vegetable oils and sugar (also limiting acid creating food). >>>In your opinion, are complex carbohydrates in the same boat as sugar?<<< I ask this because I have been reading about the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (becoming more well know in the States), which seems to view the problem as polysaccharides and suggests eating monosaccharaides because the polysaccharides can't be broken down and the undigested carbs provide food and an acidic environment in the colon for the bacteria to grow. Some root veggies are acceptable in the SCD, but you mention that they may contain the mycobacterium. Also beginning to look at the Paleo Diet, anti-inflammatory diet, which permits nuts but excludes all grains and legumes. >>>Thoughts? Are beans ok?<<<

My colon seem to appreciate refine complex carbohydrates (white: bread, rice, pasta) and can't really tolerate oats or some whole wheat (some Quinoa either). >>>If I eat these will the remedies not work?<<<

My doctor swears that when I am having a flair up I should only be eating refined carbs and white meat (this just seems counterintuitive now that I know that they mycobacterium thrives on sugar) I haven't been following this strictly during flairs - Depending on severity, I can tolerate cooked veggies and it is best if they are pureed. I feel pretty mislead with my Dr. because he never taught me anything about my disorder, he only said you are never going to be cured and you will need to take this medication for the rest of your life.

I am 32 year-old female, 5'6", 118lbs. , Ihave always been thin (but never anemic) and I was diagnosed with UC about 5 years ago after introducing raw serrano peppers to my ceviche for a two 2 week period, although I had been experiencing issues before this but never blood (I thought I was just lactose intollerant). Lots of margarine (the connection to Vitamin K deficiency seems to fit my history), refined carbs and junk food as a child. Have been taking Mesalamine (5 grams per day) since the beginning, which my system has responded well too. >>>Can I take this while trying some of your suggested remedies?<<< I have not taken steroids since the first year because it make me feel way too agitated. I was flaring up about one per year at first but have had several flairs over the past year. I have been drinking quite a bit of wine which I am sure doesn't help.

I am not interested in taking RX medication for the rest of my life so I am seeking alternative methods of heeling. Thank you so much for the inspiration (I wish you would write a comprehensive book! ). Please respond, but I know you are busy with patients.

Bleeding with Ulcerative Colitis

11/10/2011: Anonymous from Anonymous: Hi Ted, I've been doing a lot of reading on your posts of treating UC (ulcerative colitis) and I am currently in a flare, as in bleeding usually in the morning once a day with a bowel movement but it is not diarrhea it is fairly firm stools. I am on 30 mg of Prednisone a day right now which is why I am probably not experiencing diarrhea. But I am also taking humic acid 3 times a day along with aloe vera oil and an aloe vera supplement. I am also taking 1 teaspoon of Psyillum husk once a day usually with dinner. And the other supplements I am taking are Ginger (6 capsules a day) as I hear this helps with inflammation, L-lysine (3 a day with every meal), and L-glutamine (3 a day before every meal). All the water I drink I have been putting in some baking soda to alkalize it as well except in the morning before breakfast.

So my main question is, what is a way I can stop the bleeding? And also I had read your latest post and you had mentioned using Artemisinin (isn't this used to treat malaria?) and Gallium Nitrate as some other supplements to add to the healing process? You just mentioned them so I was wondering if you could elaborate on how much to take and how it benefits and what not.

I have moderate to severe ulcerative colitis and during this last flare that I am slowing recovering from (all I need is the bleeding to stop) I lost a lot of weight and I am trying to get back to my normal weight while I am on Prednisone. Things I am eating would be like eggs almost every morning, turkey or tuna sandwiches with whole wheat bread, salads, chicken, stuff like that. I am staying away from fruits which is really hard because I love my fruit, and also other sugar like cookies or food that has lots of sugar.

So please help Ted!! As I am trying to kick this UC once and for all!! Any suggestions you have I would greatly appreciate.

11/10/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: The bleeding is the way mycobacterium penetrates them causing severe damage, usually you need somewhat higher dose of DHEA, usually its 200 mg., and melatonin at minimum of 5 mg to 10 mg 3 times a day, and at night maybe 10 to 20 mg. I can't be exact but those are the starting doses to at least stop the bleeding. The aloe vera oil may be given rectally, because it doesn't go far, the orally helps one part of the intestines and it has to be given rectally on the other end. Vitamin K may help somewhat, but not certain.

The mycobacterium are IRON dependent, that's why artemisinin or cheaper gallium nitrate. But if gallium nitrate I used 1% solution, instead of George Eby 5% as I think it's too strong and he's trying to make a point that it works. The gallium nitrate can be taken orally at one liter per day, at 1%. The gallium nitrate works like a Trojan horse to a mycobacterium in that it appears to be like iron, so they will take uptake as iron, but it will destroy. Similar mechanism found in Artemisinin but the opposite, in that the artemisinin works like a heat seeking missile if its sees any iron, and blow it up by breaking into hydrogen peroxide. Most people don't try it due to gallium nitrate and artemisinin is expensive (by Thailand standards) but perhaps in the States it is cheaper.

If you can stop temporarily the bleeding through steroidal medicine for one week, and take glutamine 4000 mg (1000 mg x4) at least a day, and possibly lysine 4000 to 5000 mg a day (in divided) dose of 1000 x4 or x 4 for a week, once healed, then that should stop most of the inflammation.

You need to tweak these supplements and avoid milk as it is the major source of mycobacterium exposure, the other comes from the ground. I suspect the body has chymotrypsin or trypsin deficiency, which breaks down mycobacterium and that's because of pancreatic insufficiency I seen in some cases, getting pancreatitis easily. That is resolved with 1/4 teaspoon of lysine at least for 4 hours, for 3 days at least, but the healing still needs aloe vera oil or "mucilaginous aloe vera" to help healing over the long haul. Again it is possible to help the pancreas somewhat with plenty of baking soda (1/2 teaspoon after meal, and before sleep) as it is required to keep alkaline in the intestines as well as body stores the sodium bicarbonates in the pancreas. It also helps if B50 is taken if it is not a problem but must be in bicarbonates, and also this may cause flare up, but is needed to prevent liver depletion of water soluble vitamins, B50 and vitamin C, ascorbate form, NO CALCIUM. Calcium will cause flareup because mycobacterium needs for growth along with iron, found in the blood.

I don't have much information on ulcerative colitis as there are not that many afflicted with here.

The bleeding may also be caused by a hyperimmune response due to impaired immune system. Usually it is a deficient immune system and I think is caused by lack of histidine in diets. As for methionine, that reduces excessive histamine in the system, but in ulcerative colitis cases I have found that all ulcerative colitis cases are hyperhomocysteine, such as above the optimum level of 6 or 7, in several instances it is 15 to 20. The one thing that will remove hyperhomocysteine is trimethylglycine or betaine, mixed in alkaline solutions say betaine 1 teaspoon twice a day, not the betaine hydrochloride form taken 3 times a day, ideally, and methionine perhaps 500 mg and histidine 100 mg x 3 times a day, also mixed in baking soda, enough that the pH is around 7, which basically taste something like slightly salty water.

11/11/2011: Anonymous replies: Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me all of this, I really appreciate it! I also just started taking Apriso, a prescription drug for the inflammation, I do not want to take this but I thought it might help at least some. Do you think any of these supplements or anything will have any adverse reactions with the prescription Apriso and Prednisone that the doctor prescribed me?

I will start with the melatonin and DHEA to see if that will stop the bleeding, then if the bleeding does stop for a week I will continue to the gluatmine and Lysine to heal the colon. I have also not been doing the aloe vera oil rectally so i will start to do that, but should I also do the Humic acid rectally along with the aloe vera?

As for the trimethylglycine, methionine, and histidine, should i take this as well even though I'll be trying the Melatonin and DHEA? Or should I try them after I do the Melatonin and DHEA?

My stools are also somewhat formed like I said before but they are also a little watery as well now before the formed stool is passed, so should I continue to take the Psyillum husk? Would that stop the watery stool? I am currently taking 1 teaspoon per day.

Thank you again very much for your advice, and I will e-mail you again on this thread in about a month so you can know any results. Take care!"

11/11/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "As with most pain killers, Apriso may cause others conditions such as kidney failure, liver failure, congestive heart failure, etc. As for prednisolone it causes weight gain. And these are temporary measures, and the more permanent ones will be aloe vera oil, glutamine, lysine, etc.

have also not been doing the aloe vera oil rectally so i will start to do that, but should I also do the Humic acid rectally along with the aloe vera?

Yes, only that very small amounts such as 1/16 humic acid is mixed with aloe vera rectally. For some people this initially works best, with that, or some people aloe works consistently well over the long term.

You should try melatonin and DHEA first for a week, before you try the other ones. So you can monitor the effectiveness. Melatonin and DHEA works well.

My stools are also somewhat formed like I said before but they are also a little watery as well now before the formed stool is passed, so should I continue to take the Psyillum husk? Would that stop the watery stool? I am currently taking 1 teaspoon per day.

You can also mix a larger amount of Psyillum husk in 3 or 4 times a day and see how that goes.

Alkaline Water for 16 Yrs W/ Uc?

10/29/2011: Anonymous from Anonymous: Hi Ted, Somehow I stumbled upon a website where you had some remarkable remedies for Ulcerative Colitis. I've had this disease 16 years. Oddly enough, I have had a few severe bouts over the years, but I seem to maintain fairly well. I was a vegetarian for 11 years (just ended), and I do many things to try to help my body maintain it's health. Even though I keep the UC somewhat under control, I do still take medicine every day and have for 16 years. I also have other issues such as eye inflammations that give me trouble throughout the year.

I've just recently learned about a company making machines that produce alkaline water. I had been doing research on this subject and learned my body was not alkaline, but near 7. I want to end this 16 year history with UC, and I'd love your advice. Please send me any information you can on helping me get off prescription meds (Lialda), and your thoughts on drinking Alkaline water. Lastly, what PH level is good to drink for UC patients?

Thanks so much for all you do!

10/28/2011: Anonymous replies: Thank you very much for this valuable information. I will look for the items you mentioned. To clarify, please let me know how much baking soda you suggest taking. Also, is that the first step before taking the betaine?"

11/30/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Betaine (not HCl ) is taken 1/2 teaspoon 3 or 4 times a day. The baking soda 1/4 teaspoon after meal twice a day is the minimum starting dose in 1/2 cup of water. I believe taking 500 mg of B3 3 times a day or 4 times a day may also help, but only niacinamide.

11/28/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: The alkaline machine doesn't make the body alkaline it just makes the body temporarily alkaline by electrostatic charges. It has been used in hospital antiseptic systems because they get neutralized rather quickly. The electrostatic charge is evidenced by pH being alkaline, but say if you kept it in bottles opened or unopened, it reverts to 7 usually, even though the starting solution is 10 or 9 pH. The only way it can become alkaline is by chemical means, which are bicarbonates, carbonates, citrates for example. If you put say sodium bicarbonates in a solution and you measure 8, tomorrow it will be 8, opened or unopened bottle, but in case of electrostatic charged water, they do not last long. In fact the theory of electrostatics we studied in school concerns electrostatic charges in the air, but rarely in water.

The phenomenon is there, there are products such as Sterilox, that is nothing more than salt and 98% water, but electrostatically they are neutralized rapidly once electrostatic alkaline (or acid) is released onto the bacteria or virus, and then it converts to ordinary water. There are some companies that do it differently and try to convert chemically, with "refills" these are chemically treated, but they do it with more complicated chemicals, while our human bodies are more geared to simplicity such as citrate, bicarbonates, carbonate, often in sodium, potassium or magnesium forms. These may last longer electrostatically but their effect on human metabolism is temporary. So the effects are only temporarily.

There are many treatments for ulcerative colitis, usually helped with 200 mg (spread throughout the day) with DHEA, or aloe vera oil or gel or mucilaginous, etc. The humic acid seems to do the job also, but in severe cases is of limited use. However, I suggest basic issues must be dealt with which is high homocysteine levels for ulcerative colitis, they are higher than Crohn's, in fact Crohn's is a lot easier to treat because their homocysteine levels are lower than in ulcerative colitis, but they are usually caused by similar bacteria, mycobacterium, that is also found in Johne's disease in animals. To lower homocysteine, the best supplements I gave found are trimethylgycine or betaine. The one I prefer is just betaine (but not betaine hydrochloride, they are too acid). The healing is often initiated if there is melatonin taken throughout the day say 5 mg, x 3 times a day, and maybe 10 mg at night and DHEA. The body produces most melatonin in the gut, not the pineal gland to help healing. DHEA is the other one, and aloe vera oil is the common one. The humic acid can be taken also but in very low amount, such as 1/32 teaspoon. The aloe vera can be added to all the meals to prevent that, but homocysteine must be reduced so inflammation is minimized, the optimum homocysteine is 6 or 7, but most ulcerative colitis is around 15. Once it is lowered inflammation is minimized.

The healing of gut requires actually 2 or 3 amino acid, lysine, threonine, and glutamine. Most UC patients are familiar with these but the limitations is the acidic amino acid must be reduced to neutral with baking soda before intake at noon and afternoon or night. Baking soda is not to be taken or mixed in the morning or before meals as it will cause intestinal cramps. And in some cases during the treatment period, you must lower inflammation and taking these amino acid, preferably 3 grams to 4 grams being the minimum in divided dose to maximum of 8 to 9 grams throughout the day, consisting of lysine, glutamine and threonine. Threonine is virtually unknown but is the amino acid that helps intestinal absorption and helps nutrients into the gut, besides being helpful for kidney disease and detoxification by the skin. But always start with betaine of non HCl form taken 1/2 teaspoon twice to three times a day is my preferred dose, the homocysteine will be lower by approximately 1 point in a week, so if 15 to 7, it will take about 8 weeks, or a typical small size adult. The cause of these are the lipopolysaccharides that evoke an immune response and may be helped with digestive enzymes and low dose naltrexone.

Ulcerative Colitis and Related Ailments

10/27/2011: Anonymous from Anonymous: Hi Ted, HELP, I really hope you can do more than my DR has. I thought I had the flu, stomach cramps so bad I couldn't get my breath, vomiting, severe diarrhea (w/blood in stool), sweating, no fever, neg energy, almost felt like I couldn't breathe, bad headache. This went on for 17 days I finally went to ER, they did a CT scan, told me its was the worst case of ulcerative colitis he's ever seen. I might add my stomach has been extended for 2 years making me look as tho I am 3-4 mo pregnant. I was diagnosed with a bladder stone about 2 yrs ago at which time they told me it would pass, as I was in excruciating pain, but to my knowledge it never did pass?

Anyway at the ER I was given an IV of antibiotics sent home with 2 antibiotics for 10 days. I was later told by another DR. that you can not diagnose UC without doing a scope test? Well, I lasted about 3 wks and again was put on another batch of 2 antibiotics for 10 days. I went another 5 wks or so and sick again. This time 1 antibiotic for 10 days. This time it seemed to go in remission, I lasted about 2-3 mo. I am now currently on the same antibiotic again for 10days with 2 refills for when it hits again.

Since being on all these antibiotics I have a whole host of new symptoms, My bladder never seems like it empties completely, when I am done or think I am done going potty, I then go again about 1-3 tbls. I am sweating profusely with hardly expending any energy. On my left hand my ring finger and pinkie are completely numb & tingly and have been for 3mo or so. When I take antibiotics I develop a cough that's awful it can go on for 30 min to an hr. Almost a feeling as tho I have fluid in my lungs.

I am on pain meds for other conditions and have been for 17 yrs, which those I know suppress cough, and I do smoke about 3/4 to pack a day. I have fibromyalgia, migraine HA, DDD, arthritis in my spine as well as other regions, ankylosis spondilitis and now this whatever it is?

I am worried that all the antibiotics have caused a secondary issue as in maybe candida? I have a new pain in my ankles that is incredible I cannot cross my feet/ankles when laying down. I have a very high tolerance for pain but I cannot walk for at least 5 minutes once I get them uncrossed which is so painful to do. I am 51 and thru menopause but I have always taken care of my self physically altho I can no longer run and exercise I have kept my weight down I was in a size 2-4 last summer now anywhere from an 8-12 depending on size of stomach. Which that in turn depresses me. I am a massage therapist but have filed for disability. Other symptoms are my teeth are breaking, the old mercury fillings breaking and falling out, bad breath of course, my hair seems to be thinner than usual and at first my face broke out in the grossest tumor puss filled I don't know what that actually left some scars.

I thought I might be vitamin and mineral deficient so I started taking a multi w/minerals, flax seed oil, and the wild fish oil for omegas.

Thank you in advance anything will help.

10/27/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Well if you want to take anything try to avoid the calcium and most vegetable oils except linoleic acid, which is the major component of flaxseed oil. But you will be helped the most with aloe vera oil or aloe related products such as mucilaginous aloe vera. Humic acid will help acid reflux and ulcerative colitis, at least initially.

If you want a few supplements I would try 10 mg of melatonin before sleep and 5 mg 3 or 4 times a day with meals. More melatonin can be taken, it helps the immune system in a big way. The melatonin is produced in large amounts by your intestines, more so then your pineal gland. The aloe vera and aloe vera oil and 12 mg of DHEA will help the most. Avoid vegetable oils, acid drinks, and make sure all the water is alkaline by adding some baking soda, such as 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda per liter of water, but do not use this in morning hours before meals. Anytime after that would be just fine. I believe that the cause is mycobacterium, can be killed by artemisinin and gallium nitrate, but that is another story by itself, and I think that's too many things already, if things improved maybe that can come later.

If you want doctors to examine anything, it would be homocysteine. And I expect it to be very high, over 10 mg/dL for sure. To reduce that, trimethylglycine 1/2 teaspoon x 3 times a day, with some histidine 1/8 teaspoon every two hours until the ulcerative colitis subsides, usually within a couple of days. But it must be alkaline with some baking soda, say 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon. You are also low in magnesium, the preferred form is magnesium citrate 400 mg and selenium yeast 200 mcg x2, in event of ulcerative colitis. The ulcerative colitis, Crohne's disease are caused by mycobacterium.

03/02/2012: Pbiskey from Poconos, Pa, USA replies: 10mg of Melatonin sounds to be alot! 5mg makes me drop to the floor and halucinate. Maybe decimal points are missing?

I've been starting aloe and humic enemas and in three days I've seen a difference for the better. I'm off sugar, dairy, iron and calcium as well as white flour. WOW, I slept through the night for the first time without a bathroom run and my bleeding dropped 90% in three days. My Drs want nothing to do with this and just pump me with steroids and asacol and now they want me on remacade. Also this homemade enema has relieved my internal hemorrhoids in days! I'm also taking DHEA 100mg per day and had a normal bowel movement for the first time in 5 months with NO blood! I am otherwise a healthy athletic 48 year old male and am baffled by this disease.

06/19/2013: Kim from Mount Rainier, Md. replies: I wonder if the DHEA or 7-Keto helps with production of melatonin in the Gastrointestinal tract? This is a reply to the discussions on Melatonin-etc. for UC.

Melatonin for Ulcerative Colitis

08/31/2011: Anonymous from Anonymous: Dear Ted, Hi. I would love your help to cure my UC. I read the latest and didn't understand the quantities for humic acid and fulvic acid and in what form. I have fresh aloe Vera in my garden. I can also purchase the gel. I make yogurt by putting Kefir grains-like a kind of mushroom white- in milk and in 24 hrs it becomes thick. I read it is full of probiotics. Better than anything bought. Something from Tibet. Can you please help me as I have bleeding and loose stools. I am desperate. It is very hard for me to go on a radical diet, but what do you think I should eliminate? Thank you very much in advance.

09/01/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: People assumed that melatonin is only produced by the pineal glands, but melatonin is produced far more in the gastrointestinal tract, about 400 times more than that in the pineal glands in the brain. It is used to regulate the gastrointestinal tract in preventing ulceration. So melatonin can be supplemented if you needed to reduce the ulcerations, and even prevent ulcerative colitis in some cases. The dose however is given around 10 mg hourly for 10 for hours in this the dose may help stopped the bleeding. The explanation is simple enough, the melatonin prevents adhesion of inflammatory molecules, mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis, and helps such regeneration.

Melatonin has several interesting properties and people are too focused on sleeping properties when it could do more. The one thing i don't like about supplements is they keep adding calcium, and if given enough prevents a lot of benefits as they are also needed by mycobacterium to protect themselves from the onslaught of immune system. There are two philosophies of treatment, turtle and the rabbit analogy I have to mention. In the rabbit analogy, you give it all at one, the turtle analogy is to give them in small but steady dose. In my opinion most remedies work because the slow and steady wins the race. To give it all at once can also be harmful.

As far as humic acid and fulvic acid, it is given at 1/16 teaspoon each twice a day at least, with psyllium husk if possible one glass and this will help ulcers too. If Gum arabic is used it is great, as they are absorbed in gastrointestinal tract to produce butyric acid and does have some psyllium husk properties as well. The humic and fulvic acid is to reduce diarrhea common with ulcerative colitis.

09/02/2011: Anonymous from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Hi Ted, Thank you very much for your answer. But I still don't understand. Just the melatonin and the humic and fulvic acid? Is the acid liquid or powder? How do I take it? With meals? Does it matter? Should I do both at the same time, the melatonin and the acid? Should I change my diet in any way? And what about aloe Vera or anything else? Do think this will be enough to help with my symptoms? Thank you again. I would love some more specifics. G-d bless you."

09/03/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Just the melatonin and the humic and fulvic acid?

No. Aloe vera also.

Is the acid liquid or powder.

Either, but I prefer fulvic and humic in powder.

How do I take it?

Read previous postings, but it is taken 1/16 teaspoon a day with psyllium husk.

With meals? Does it matter.

Should I do both at the same time, the melatonin and the acid?

It doesn't matter.

Should I change my diet in any way?

No sugars or fruits (contain sugar). No vegetable oils, they make conditions much worse.

And what about aloe Vera or anything else?

There are many things, but try this first.

Do you think this will be enough to help with my symptoms?

Depends on individual due to different biochemical imbalances. It is best to start simple first then whenever any problems occur, those are specifics we have to deal with.

09/05/2011: Anonymous replies: "Thank you again Ted. I went to the site and read earlier postings. You wrote:

7. A fulvic acid mixture must always be combined with sodium thiosulfate and sea salt. Most important is that in a water solution before adding fulvic acid or humic acid, a sodium thiosulfate must be added. Sea salt in higher concentrations often acts as a preservative, but a wrong kind of sea salt may cause fulvic acid to precipitate within hours, which may reflect wrong pH and may need adjustment to maintain the suspension.

Is this also right for me?

Using Humic Acid for Ulcerative Colitis

08/21/2011: Anonymous from Anonymous: Hello Ted, how are you? I'm a 28 yr old male who has ulcerative colitis/proctitis, skin issues on scalp/face, and high mercury levels(scored a 7, when 2 was normal), and a white tongue that will not go away and always seems like something is in my throat. Well, I have read so much on this site and what you have posted. Thank you for it all. I have followed some with little results. So here goes: I recently recieved humic acid in liquid form and it says to take an ounce a day so I have been splitting it up in 3 doses and taking it that way. Its been about 6 days so far and I feel it's ok however where can I buy the kind of Humic you use? Maybe this isn't as potent? My proctitis has been better the last 2-3 weeks. I use a canasa supposity a day, take 2 grams vit C, vit E, 50 mgs Zinc citrate, and boswelli. I also alkalize using a whole lime and 1/2 tsp baking soda (using this for about 2 weeks). My bowel movements have been fine however sometimes it burns and there are alot of holes in my BM (Sorry, just wanted to explain). Tonight, I just added lugol's iodine to my humic acid (2 drops). Also, I dilute the humic acid with some water when I take it. I gonna try to get the cinnamon oil and aloe vera oil, but I definitely need the humic powder? Should I use another combo with the baking soda instead of the lime? Maybe potassium citrate?
I would like to explain why I'm taking the zinc, vit E, vit C.... I have this condition on my scalp and face where my follicles get clogged with keratin/sebum and then it oxidizes and it's preventing my beard hair from growing in some spots like the root is dead. It gets dry and oily at the same time (like it is compensating), itchy and when I get a haircut there are white little hard balls everywhere (assuming it's keratin/sebum). My hair is so rough and the sebum just wont stop and it's really weird. I do get some cyst, but I feel the zinc has helped with that but only that, not the oily, dry, rough, patches with keratin plugs. And lastly, I do have sinus problems where there is always mucous in my nose.
Thanks for reading and hopefully you can help me out! Take Care

08/29/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Boswellia helps ulcerative colitis, but also psyllium husk mixed in all foods also helped too. But the humic acid forms you need is powdered, because in the industry finds it or profitable to sell the liquid form, making it weak for treatment of ulcerative colitis. The humic acid is mixed in psyllium husk is also better. The one thing that is causing your major conditions is mercury poisoning, where did you get that? Was it vaccines or metal exposure from environment? Identifying it allows you to be able to avoid it, perhaps it comes from kitchen utensil, or even water faucets. There are some that contains high amounts there too. But the most toxic forms of mercury is methyl mercury, which is thimerosal found in vaccines.

I think the focus should be mercury poisoning and therefore N acetyl Cysteine and selenium would be ideal, other ones may be quercetin, magnesium reduces the toxic effect of mercury, and yes zinc, taken everyday. N acetyl cysteine might be 250 mg x 4, selenium yeast 200 mg x2, or x 3, and quercetin 500 mg x 2, and zinc 25 mg are some examples will respond the best. So the focus is unique from other ulcerative colitis. Gum arabic is helps increase intestinal villi surface area in ridding of toxins, and 1000 mg x 5, but is mixed in drinks or water, that will help the body detox. The most important for mercury toxicity is to concentrate on sulfur rich foods and supplements, that includes eggs (liquid yolks), MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) 2000 mg x 3, N acetyl cysteine, but if methionine must be taken with trimethylgycine 1: 4 ratio, that means for 100 mg methionine you need 400 mg trimethylglycine. When taken N acetyl cysteine some reduction in sinus problem.

Vitamin C maybe needed if especially if your urine ORP meter reports positive value or near that value or below -50, such as -40.

The bromelain is helpful for acne or skin condition, but commercialization they used 25 mg, or less then 100 mg, but that's not really effective. We are looking at 1000 mg of bromelain mixture in water this will get rid of acne and its therapeutic value is of Accutane level (isoretinoin), but without the side effects of autoimmune disease, which Accutane and other related brands is well known for.

As to your major questions of humic acid, get powder form, if not then a plant nursery all have humic acid which is the second best form, if you have trouble finding it.

Anonymous replies to Ted:
"Hello Ted,

Thanks for replying and answering so througouly! First, let me explain a few more, maybe, important details. I have used accutane about 12 years for 6 months and never had issues while on it or there after until 2006. I do understand that effects can show up later on down the line. Maybe this is the culprit. Also, with regards to mercury and how I have come in contact with this: I have had many vaccines when I was a child and also because I am becoming a nurse in the next year, I had to get my Hep B shots which I tried not to get but my school fought back. I have avoided H1N1 thus far but with school starting we shall see! I've had the vaccines that most children get as a child. I could pull my records for you if you like? Also, for faucets and shower head its a metal spout so I'm not very sure as I dont know much about this. The only found out I had mercury poison when I went to a holistic doctor and he could not get me on the right track and he ran a urine toxic test that test many things, including heavy metals, toxins from all bacteria, and vitamins. This was all done through urine about 2 years ago. It was expensive! Now 2 things came back, they were the mercury and the other showed a toxin from c.diff I think. I am not home so I do not have the paperwork with me but I think this was it. So the doctor said dont worry about the mercury cause your bowels are not working so lets fix that first and he never could. I did take things for the bacteria toxin. I took the good strain of yeast which was recommended and that was called S. Boulardii! I didn't do anything really. I took the best and most expensive and have experimented several different ways by taking the capsule or emptying them in food or even taking an hour to 2 hours after food. My GI docs had never said I had C.diff and I've been tested so it's strange. I know the smell too being in the hospital I see this with patients. It's very distinct smell. My bowels have had that smell but not recently.

As for the supplements you recommend, I will get them and use as you stated. I have a question though. I'm receiving in the mail today a shipment of products to help with the mercury that I read from your earthclinic posts. I got some cilantro, chlorella, spirulina, pysllium husk, some cinnamon oil, clove oil and trace mineral drops. Is this ok? I ordered these before I had heard from you. I read great things from you and other on the site. I'm going to start slow! I will also get the products you have mentioned when you replied to me.

Another question, I also take selenium however I'm not sure if it's selenium yeast though. Is this ok or should I get it with yeast?

I am especially excited to see how the bromelain works!!! My skin produces to much oil and it clogs my hair follicle and I get keratin plugs or cysts but never white head pimples. Its very strange... My skin looks normal one day and then it over-produces oil and then dries up and gets white, yellow, dry, itchy, red and clogs. I dont know!

I also have been looking for the humic acid powder and have found it but need to make sure it's reliable so I dont cause more problems!!! The humic should always be BLACK, correct?

One more thing, I do put a few drops of lugols iodine in my morning humic acid liquid about 4 days a week. It's only been 2 weeks. Just wanted you to know that incase it's a bad thing to do!

Thank you Ted for everything! Talk with you soon!"

Ted responds to Anonymous:
"Well, if you take Accutane, you got less intestinal villi and lack of growth, something must increase these surface area for absorption and detox of the intestines. Now, I don't like detox used by many by alternative healers as they seem to copy the formula or make their formulas that doesn't work for all cases. Each kinds of detox is different, in Accutane you have to find something that will promote intestinal villi growth by blocking isoretinoin, and that's difficult. But you can get around the problem by increasing the surface area of the intestines with gum arabic, and that requires at least, 10 grams (it's more 50 grams but no ones going to use that, except in Hospital settings, and if true, they won't use it either!)

The ten gram is realistically given at 2000 mg x 5, preferably mixed with water needed to dissolved it. However, if C.difficile, I think you got it from Hospital as they are phasing out disinfectants that proved more effective against MRSA and C. difficile, which is the use of UV in hospital rooms and surgery rooms, as well is the phasing out of hydrogen peroxide 0.5%, and peracetic acid in favor of glutaldehyde and weak chlorine bleaches. The hydrogen peroxide, UV, and peracetic acid been proven to be effective. The hospitals don't even use a more effective form of alcohol as hospital handwash, they use isopropyl alcohol while a more effective ones is propyl alcohol in weak potassium hydroxide with may sodium lauryl sufate, but that's my opinion, and that's just one formula, and what's more they don't use handwash soap and water, which is more effective then alcohol gels, but we can understand that, as it won't be practical in hospital settings. Now in house setting you won't get it because the common method of cleansing is soap and water.

The best protection H1N1 is actually not the vaccines, it is lysine and asafoetida. In fact, it was the aspirin that stopped the H1N1 (Spanish flu), and it has its origins not in Europe and Spain, but in a U.S.military base, experimenting with vaccines, before it spread to Europe. India and China was immune to it because asafoetida was used as spices in India, and in China they used asafoetida to counteract the H1N1 which proved successful. And some of these vaccines contain a few doubtful ingredients which is methyl mercury (thimerosal) which is a lot more toxic then fishes. I consider fish safe but not vaccines. S. Boulardi lowers C. difficile but won't work if you got mercury poisoning AND Accutane use in the past, if you add lead poisoning on top of that, it is even worse!

" Its very strange... My skin looks normal one day and then it over-produces oil and then dries up and gets white, yellow, dry, itchy, red and clogs. I dont know!"

The problem is that you may have some sort of zinc deficient (zinc acetate) and possible selenium deficiency and you are not addressing the basic problems!

If you must become nurse, there are vaccines out there without thimerosal, you just have to do your own shopping! But any vaccines will inevitably weaken the immune system anyway if you don't provide supplements which boost these, and I don't mean the commercial ones, it's the amino acid such as N acetyl cysteine, lysine, threonine, and then some.

All you need is so simple, buy tablets of 500mg of folic acid and also get some b12 vitamins, that's all, your digestion will work so much better and your white tongue will disappear. I also forgot to mention that I was suffering from severe acne on my scalp face shoulders and back until I started the folic acids and b12 supplements. Zinc supplement would also be a good idea for you. Take all of this with good probiotics and your skin will look very good in about less than 3 weeks for the rest of your life.

This was such simple discoverie that I made while my wife was pregnant, I tried her folic acid tablets for a joke.... but then realised it had a massive effect on my digestion straight away.

Always take them with food!

Also to reply to other people, be careful with aloe vera and turmeric, both will thin your blood, do not take them while being on a flareup, instead buy natural rice pasta, b vcomplex vitamin to replace the missing vitamins you are not having, zinc and folic acids thats all you need to stop the flareup, Stop all fat and milk, ghee, butter and creme.

Do not exercise too much or your immune system will get tired and your colitis will take over. Just do enough work to feel good (a fast walk for 20 minutes is enough). Do not sit too much or your blood flow in your guts will be restricted.

Good luck all, we are all in the same boat but with all the above tricks you will feel 100 times better.

12/28/2011: Anonymous replies: Hey Ted, How are you doing? I bought some humic acid powder and I'm not exactly sure how my measurements should be. It's 100% humic and is completely black and when I have mixed it, it is alittle difficult. Im not sure why, but eventually it does mix but leaves some sediment at the bottom. Should this happen and is it fine? Also, how much should I be mixing??? I have been putting regular water in about a glass liter jar and putting 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of the humic in it and mixing. I drink 1 ounce 2-3 times a day. Is this ok? Could you let me know what i should be doing? I feel no different at all or any changes with myself or colitis. Everything seems the same basically, however it's only been a few days!

Also, as i understand, there should be no taste, but i do get an earthy/rocky taste with this.... Is this normal since it's 100%?

So is you could help me with these four points, I would appreciate it so much!

1. Is this humic fine?
2. Is this normal the way it mixes and sometimes alittle clumps at the bottom (sediment)?
3. Are my measurements fine?
4. The amount I take is fine?

Thanks again!"

01/14/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Also, how much should I be mixing???

The best way is one teaspoon of sea salt used as a preservative, one teaspoon of humic acid, and perhaps 1 teaspoon of rice crystals sodium thiosulfate. Pour this into 500 cc of water in a bottle. This is your mother solution. To use as a drinking water use 2 to 3 capful of shaken bottle of the mother solution and drink that. The color should be light brown, some people like it dark brown if more is added. This is the general formula for non colitis people, but for colitis it may be better to use the mother solution and take them to lessen the diarrhea.

I have been putting regular water in about a glass liter jar and putting 1 and /2 teaspoons of the humic in it and mixing. I drink 1 ounce 2-3 times a day. Is this ok? Could you let me know what i should be doing?

If you have colitis it might need less or else it will result in diarrhea. Now there are a few others you need to follow, unripe papaya, taken throughout the day, bromelain, and aloe oils are required for most basic ulcerative colitis. The bromelain is 10% taken 1/2 teaspoon three times a day, there's no limit from unripe papaya, and aloe will help accelerate healing. There are others, depending on the seriousness of the condition and dietary practices. There is another that can be tried the borax 1/4 teaspoon with one capful of 3% H2O2 food grade in one liter of water that can be drank as a drinking water to kill the fungus also, if that responds to it, then sodium molybdate a pinch can be added also or ammonium molybdate.

I feel no different at all or any changes with myself or colitis. Everything seems the same basically, however it's only been a few days!

Well you should modify the remedy if there is no change if taken in a few days. It's not the same for everyone, some people respond to them very well some not at all depending on the stage of ulcerative colitis and the seriousness of the condition, and whether there is bleeding. What I know is Crohn's disease is easily cured, but ulcerative colitis needs more of the remedy. But again most fungus like bacteria, typically responds to antifungal remedies, such as MSM, DMSO, chromium, molybdenum, and it will be worse if any iron supplements are taken, or calcium, but typically the blood parameters can be corrected by copper chlorophyllin, and vitamin K2 M4, which is the most important, not vitamin K2 m7 or K1.

Also, as i understand, there should be no taste, but i do get an earthy/rocky taste with this.... Is this normal since it's 100%?

It's fine, but it should not.

1. Is this humic fine?

Humic does raise your immune system, but you may need more than that for people who don't respond to the remedy, but its a start.

2. Is this normal the way it mixes and sometimes alittle clumps at the bottom (sediment)?

Yes, but there shouldn't be that much clumps.

3. Are my measurements fine?

Well I think they are ok but I think it needed to be taken more often.

4. The amount I take is fine?

I think its a bit too much, but more often is the key. You must also address the undigested lipopolysaccharides, which is one of the causes of ulcerative colitis due to mycobacterium paratuberculosis by taking good digestive enzymes too, which will digest the lipopolysaccharides, which is actually the amylase found in your saliva, but needs more in the digestive tract, but is only produced by your salivary glands! What you need is amylase (one of the main thing) in the digestive enzyme form and do the enema also, that will breakdown the lipopolysaccharides that cause the inflammation. However that doesn't deal with the mycobacterium head on, that you need a lot of MSM, borax, hydrogen peroxide, etc. to kill the fungus.

Alkalizing or Humic Acid for Uc?

07/26/2011: Anonymous from Anonymous: Hi Ted, I have often read your advice on Ulcerative Colitis over the last year or so. I have seen a natural health care provider and not much luck has been seen. Like most, I have needed steroids to control as well as all the other drugs they try. I am not happy with my current condition and know if I don't find a cure that works for me I will end up losing my colon... something I will not allow to happen.

One of your most common cures for UC is converting the colon to an alkaline condition using half tablespoon of baking soda in glass of water on empty stomach once per day. In addition you mention supplementing with magnesium citrate and zinc.

Recently though you wrote about taking humic acid to kill off the mycobacterium. I can't find how you suggest taking this. Is it safe to take the same product they sell for gardens at a garden nursery? More importantly, which one of these methods should I try first. Also, can you tell me exactly how to take these? How long will it take before I start to notice improvement?

07/26/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: The most important application you can try is aloe vera oil, it works better than aloe vera extract. Generally speaking, aloe vera gel is not used as it contains sugar. The funny thing is any oil cannot be taken except aloe vera oil and perhaps coconut oil, all other oils work against you. Humic acid may help some yes.

In some cases allopurinol works in relieving the irritation not because it is anti-uric but because it has some immune modulating effects.

Should you get the colon to normal to some extent with anything, it is best to heal the colon, and the best is lysine and glutamine. But it works against you if the wounds don't heal. To prevent reinfection, I am looking into silicate compounds to help strengthen the collagen, such as the use of sodium silicate drops in water, such that mycobacterium will find it harder to replicate.

07/27/2011: Anonymous replies: "Hi again. I can't locate any aloe Vera oil that mentions it is safe for consumption... Will I get similar effects from drinking 8oz of pure aloe Vera juice with fulvic acid added each day?

07/28/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Try not to spend your time looking for it, mostly fulvic acid will do for now. Your main concentration is aloe vera oil as it is hard to find. Extract works too but a lot less for some people. Diet should be free of any oils (except aloe vera oil and coconut oil), alkalizing all the drinks (above 7) and no sugar, including fruits. Keep notes or food diary, it goes a long way in trying to avoid certain things. This is rarely observed on some people so I have to repeat myself. And no flaxseed oil--doesn't work, just like all the other oils (with the two exceptions here).

Ulcerative Colitis Remedy

07/14/2011: Anonymous from Anonymous: Dear Ted

I've just spent 4 weeks in hospital where doctors have, using drugs, successfully treated my severe ulcerative colitis. A mix of steroids, pentasa, cyclosporine and azathioprine.

Since getting out of hospital I've been looking at your contributions to Earth Clinic and in particular your remedy of "1/16 teaspoon of zinc oxide plus 1/2 teaspoon of milk of magnesia plus 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1 glass of water taken twice a day."

I am having difficulty with tracking down the zinc oxide. At www.earthclinic.com/supplements.html it says "3. Absolutely avoid all ingredients in oxide form. Oxide forms of mineral include magnesium oxide, zinc oxide, etc. They don't dissolve in water and will generally stay in their original form. It is poorly absorbed." The only zinc oxide I can find is from pottery supplier and the Health Information sheet states:

Ingestion: The product is of low solubility in body fluids and it is likely to be of low toxicity

Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting, rinse mouth thoroughly, drink plenty of water and seek medical advice

Ted, is this the right zinc oxide for me or do you have any suggestions where I could purchase some?

08/09/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: If you want to use zinc oxide, you can find them in a chemist shop is one option. You can try the pottery in small quantities if you want.

The ulcerative colitis responds well to aloe vera oil and humic acid, and somewhat to fulvic acid. It also responds well to cinnamon oil. The ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease is actually a bacteria found in the milk, which resist all forms to pasteurization and conventional sterilization methods, the bacterium is mycobacterium paratuberculosis and another is mycobacterium avium complex (MAC). These two is found in at least over 60% of all milk products, but are also found in many foods and go undetected. They resist all forms of antibiotics. A combination of antibiotics may responds, but it responds also to natural therapies, such as humic acid and cinnamon oil. It helps with the aloe vera in regenerative issues of the colon. The mycobacterium avium responds well to Lugol's iodine and PVP-I (Betadine), which can be rectally applied mixed with water or consumed a couple of drops. The mycobacterium paratuberculosis responds well I believe to a common cinnamon oil and humic acid in general. My remedy is not perfect as most people are just happy with this remedy and never proceed to go further and get their life back together. Most treatments last an average of two months for a ulcerative colitis cure, using natural therapies. It's actually a real health issue here, but most health authorities refuses to acknowledge it, primarily because it resists heat and conventional methods of killing bacteria. Some of this are also found on organically and not so organically grown plants. My guess is a simple antiseptic procedures is betadine and humic acid, as a method for disinfectants of plants and milk products, or you can just supplement them with Lugol's and humic acid, perhaps some cinnamon oil. There are other methods, but I have to test those out first, such as gallium nitrate, low dose natrexone, and others.

It is a major health issue for these bacterium. You were lucky to respond to multiple antibiotics because they don't usually work. Steroids merely suppress and overactive immune system. A close relative of this is responsible for must rheumatoid arthritis too.

08/09/2011: Anonymous replies: "Dear Ted, Many thanks for your response to my earlier email. You recommend humic acid and cinnamon oil. What would be the right dosage of each?

I can get hold of Lugol's iodine and PVP-I (Betadine) too and you say it can be rectally applied mixed with water. Would you suggest that I try get it up the rectum as far as possible, rather like pushing a suppository up? The alternative you suggest is that it is "consumed a couple of drops". You mean taken through the mouth (orally) and if so, do you mean a couple of drops of both Lugol's iodine and PVP-I (Betadine).

You mention also aloe vera to regenerate the colon and I am taking this as a gel in capsule form, 5000mg a day. Should I consume more?

Finally, I am taking the drugs my doctor has given me still: steroids, pentasa, cyclosporine and azathioprine. Steroids are being reduced and I am stopping at the end of this week. Cyclosporine and azathioprine are both immunosuppressives, mainly taken by people who have had organ or marrow transplants. I will stop taking cyclosporine in a month's time. Pentasa has the ingredient mesalazine in it. As I am being taken off two of my drugs and there is a chance that my colitis will return I am looking to replace them with natural therapies. Do you think it would be OK for me to take the humic acid and cinnamon oil, Lugol's iodine and Betadine whilst also taking these drugs? I probably will try apple cider vinegar mixed with apple cider vinegar too.

Lots of questions and I appreciate you can only give guidance!"

08/09/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Much of the ulcerative colitis treatment are different for everyone. The ones I helped is a doozy (the worse possible ulcerative colitis), and the two main things, without getting confused with the various supplements out there is just two things, aloe vera oil and humic acid being the most important issues. The humic acid is like charcoal that is touted to eliminate bleeding and lessen the diarrhea, but humic acid is better, in that it provides the essential minerals necessary for a more complete recovery from mineral deficiencies. Therefore I obtained at least two sources of humic acid to help the recovery, to give it a more complete spectrum of minerals. The aloe vera oil is seen to helped accelerate the recovery. My case did initially used all the immune suppressive drugs, until they decided not to take it at all, before they even met me. So i was without any of this immunosuppressive drugs anyway. It was their decision in any case, those are two things that helped. Keeping focus on dose and frequency is the key, the aloe vera is always mixed with humic acid. The aloe vera oil is between 1/4 to 1 teaspoon and humic acid is between 1/16 to 1/8 teaspoon. It's always on the low side and the remedies are not controversial, even by conventional standards. The B12 is given, when needed by injections. Within three months (on average) they were able to go out and live a normal life, and that's the worse case scenario.

Aloe vera is always given in oil directly and mixed with humic acid, is usually given twice to three times a day, depending on the seriousness.

Now for the other things that helped kill mycobacterium avium, is the lugol's solution, PVP-I betadine and cinnamon oil.

You recommend humic acid and cinnamon oil. What would be the right dosage of each?

Humic acid is not given too much as to cause cramps and constipation. The dose is started at 1/16 teaspoon on average mixed in aloe vera oil. Cinnamon oil is easy, I started with 1 - 5 drops in per liter of water and shake very hard. The cinnamon oil is then mixed in water. But alkaline water is a requirement for all drinks, and added to it is at least baking soda, and measure the pH to 7.5-8.5 because mycobacterium is acid fast bacteria, they don't like alkaline water. But there is some technical problems in giving such a water. The pH of water is generally more tolerable alkalinity wise after meals, and it doesn't produce the cramps if given that way. The cramps is caused by a hungry stomach (high acid) and you drink alkaline water. The water should just be basic neutral 7.0 pH before meals, but after meals can you used alkaline water. So obviously any supplements is given after meals is always mixed in alkaline water with a pH between 7.5 all the way to 10.0, the preferred pH is 8.0, but that varies from individual to individual. The cinnamon oil can always be increased, but must be below inflammation. There are cooling herbs can be mixed such as parsley and coriander to help offset the hotness in cinnamon oil.

During the recovery, it goes in stages and they body's demands shall be different. When it is infected initially, or at the worse possible moment, it is always aloe vera oil and humic acid. Then if it is not infected with opportunistic infection such as liver inflammation, pancreatitis, usually viral in nature it is treated with lysine hourly doses 4 in morning and 4 in evening for at least 3 days, usually out of the woods by 2 days, but 3rd day is prevent reinfection. During this recovery stage of is when glutamine and lysine is given. unless there is some slight swelling in legs, there might be added 1/32 to 1/16 one doses of citrulline. Which will help the intestinal damages, there is a third one that might be needed obviously vitamin C ascorbic acid (but always alkalized it) and L glycine, say 1/2 teaspoon twice a day, mixed all in drinking water.

Lugol's iodine and PVP-I (Betadine) too and you say it can be rectally applied mixed with water.

Lugol's iodine or betadine is fine. I would just check which ones work the best. In some cases the rectum is so inflammed and bleeding you cannot put anything in it. That you take only orally say 1 drop - 3 drops a day, I usually do one. In cases rectally is not inflammed then 1 to 3 drops rectally would be fine, I would just not go deep enough like most. Getting into it is the only objected because they are so badly damage that to go further would not make sense.

You mention also aloe vera to regenerate the colon and I am taking this as a gel in capsule form, 5000mg a day. Should I consume more?

No. I would likely try more frequency rather then the amount. So 1000 mg twice a day, and move up to 5000 mg. Aloe vera is used to greater effect on lower end of the doses, too much congest the system. So I would be careful in obtaining the optimum dose from person to person. A serious case required more, a less serious case require less.

Do you think it would be OK for me to take the humic acid and cinnamon oil, Lugol's iodine and Betadine whilst also taking these drugs? I probably will try apple cider vinegar mixed with apple cider vinegar too.

That is individual reasons. But what I will do, is I will take them yes, but in addition I will take lysine and glutamine (on the third day), vitamin C and glycine and maybe BCAA, but always that lysine dominate the dosages, the others are always less. Because immunosuppressive drugs prevent inflammation and therefore I would take advantage of that with taking the other things too so it would heal before the inflammation sets in. To be off immunosuppressive or on it depends on the individual's decision.

08/10/2011: Anonymous replies: "Dear Ted, Just one question this time. I will take up your suggestions where you say "in addition I will take lysine and glutamine (on the third day), vitamin C and glycine and maybe BCAA, but always that lysine dominate the dosages, the others are always less."

Can you please suggest the dosage for each?"

08/10/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The lysine is 1/2 teaspoon, glutamine 1/3 teaspoon, vitamin C 500 mg per dose and glycine 1/3 teaspoon, BCAA 1/3 teaspoon. Is just one example. As to how many dose of each, I usually begin with 4 times a day.

Flare up in ulcerative colitus might seem random (and scary), but it often low stomach acid making you vulnerable to mycobacterium. The remedy is always alkaline but one exception occurs is you cannot take it during meals!

Ulcerative Colitis/proctitus Question

07/01/2011: Anonymous : Dear Ted,

I've had UC/UP (it changed from UC to UP) for almost 4 years off an on with being in remission (caused by taking too much Advil on an empty stomach over a period of time). I tend to lose weight when I try dietary changes and I tend to do well with natruopathic remedies as opposed to regular medicine. Currently I'm taking Intestinew and that has put me in remission for a few months, but then I go back into a flare as soon as my period starts or if I drink a lot of alcohol (which I will no longer be drinking). I just read the post on 'Humic Acid' and how it has helped some people. Do you think you can help me with a remedy that will put me back into remission even when my period starts? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I'm naturally a thin person, weighing in at 104 and I lose weight rapidly, as I have a very high metabolism.

Thanks and have a great day/night.

07/04/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Humic acid is the major remedy I used to treat ulcerative colitis, and aloe vera oil or aloe vera extract. The other is cinnamon oil. I don't know how naturopath do it since I am isolated from other healers, or they are quiet about their remedies, as it is their trade secrets. The other is chlorine dioxide, but not pure sodium chlorite, but this has side effects that are include nausea and vomiting, usually from doing too much, by too much I mean over 5 drops.

07/05/2011: Anonymous replies: Ted,

Are any of this safe to take if you're are pregnant? Also, thank you so much for your response, I really appreciate it.

07/06/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Humic acid is generally safe, as it lowers some risk regarding intestinal issues from infection, such as mycobacterium, which is currently a current health crisis we are having now, it is found at least 50% of the products we consumed and in infected cows, leads to wasting disease (Johne's disease) as same as humans.

Ulcerative Colitis After Getting Sick From Parasite or Food Poisoning

06/14/2011: S. : Hi, posted a question on your earth clinic site, but realized I did not put a subject on there. I am writing to you incase you did not receive my question. Thank you so much for your time.

I got sick in October (about 8 months ago) I believe I got some type of parasite, or food poisoning because my mother and I both had the same symptoms. At first we could barely make it to the bathroom, and there was a lot of mucus and the bowel movements were there but just weren't right. My mom took Slippery Elm tea every day and she got better. I took it every once in awhile but I did not get any better. I decided to see my doctor and she tested for c diff. It came back negative but she gave me cypro just incase. From there I got worse and worse. I battled it all through the winter and had more and more diarrhea and no bowel movements at all. I would go to the bathroom 4-6 times a day. In February of this year I got even sicker and the diarrhea got worse and I started to see blood in the stool. I went to a GI doctor who did a colonoscopy on me. He said that I had ulcerative colitis. He put me on a steroid and told me to take Asacol for the rest of my life. I really did not want to be on a drug for the rest of my life so I found a natural doctor to help.

In mid February I took the steroid from my GI doctor and went to see this natural doctor. My natural doctor said I had a parasite. He put me on a wormwood combination for the parasite and it helped a ton! I instantly started having regular bowel movements and saw almost an 80% improvement right way. From there I did well for a few months. Then late April I got sick again and started having diaherra and blood in my stool. I am back to the same place I was before. My natural doctor has tried many things and he things the "bug" or parasite is mutating. We tried the parasite medicine again but did not work near as well as the 1st round. My bleeding and diarrhea got worse so he said go ahead and get back on the steriod and he will continue to work with me on this crazy bug!

So here I am today just started taking the steroid, (day 4) and I am having blood and cramping and diarhea, some narrow and mushy bowels but not good. I would have thought the steroid would help more by now but it isn't.

Do you have any thoughts on what to do or what might be wrong? I have never had issues like this until 8 months ago and my life has been turned upside down. I am a young mother with 2 little kids and I just want to get better. I feel like I have tried lots of things but don't know what to do?

Do you think I have a parasite, or just bad bacteria and no good bacteria left? Do you think your magnesium remedy would be right for me or cause more diarrhea? I just don't know what to think. Any help would be wonderful!

Feel free to post this on your site, and I tried but not sure if it went through. I can't wait to hear back from you. I love reading your information. Thanks again!

06/14/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: The bacterium as per my previous recent posting on ulcerative colitis, is mycobacterium avium and mycobacterium paratuberculosis is the two main cause of both Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis. The genetic inheritance makes different people respond to by becoming Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis. The method of treatment is three things: humic acid, Lugol's iodine and cinnamon oil, as the primary treatment. The regenerative colon's is helped most by aloe vera oil, rectally and orally. You can mix the humic acid, Lugol's iodine (or try Betadine) and cinnamon oil separately or combined. I prefer to try out differently first then combining, to find out what it helps.

The reason other people are not having success is mycobacterium avium only responds to PVP-I (povidone Iodine or Betadine) or Lugol's solution. MAP or mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis responds mostly to tran-cinnnamaldehyde but responds also equally well to cinnamon oil. Wormwood only work briefly against certain bacterium, but not all the time. Oregano oil was not so effective and more has to be used, about 3 times as much compared to cinnamon oil.

Vitamin K1 and K2 will briefly stop, but not entirely the bleeding. Most of bleeding occurs when mycobacterium attaches to health cells and causing an "autoimmune reaction". These mycobacterium exist in several forms, in tuberculosis and also the main cause in rheumatoid arthritis, which is treatable. In fact I think all these autoimmunity some of the might be mycobacterium in fact. There are some I haven't quite test because I have very limited budget, such as gallium nitrate, dl phenylalaine, and low dose natrexone, which I think has primarily to do with mycobacterium too.

For most of the patients in the past they responded well to just aloe vera and humic acid. Do not add too much humic acid. Just 1/16 or 1/8 is the maximum any one time. It may be mixed with aloe vera oil. There are some funny cases that responded to just magnesium chloride drops, but I guess it wasn't ulcerative colitis although symptoms appeared exact. You may add them and do it orally and rectally, because the colon is very long and so I used it both ways. You can try cinnamon oil if you want. It has not responded to tetracycline HCl and for certain mycobacterium, it sometimes responded to doxycycline. I have seen people doing stem cells, it doesn't work because it is bacteria, as same as Alzheimer and Parkinson's but that ones is a virus. You can also add PVP-I (Betadine) to the aloe vera oil or the Lugol's too, rectally and orally. A starting dose would be 1 to 5 drops and you find what doses you tolerate the best.

One word of warning, these mycobacterium resists conventional methods to sanitizing, antibiotics, and methods of sanitizing and are found in most milk products, and vegetables. The method of sanitizing them is Betadine or Lugol's, humic acid and some cinnamon oil. Those people with this past problems I think is best to take at least humic acid for protection. What I found is acid reflux humic acid will cure it too primarily because it is the similar bacteria, of mycobacterium species. The reason why it didn't go to the gut and infect that part is 1) there may be different subspecies and 2) your stomach acid is killing the first, but humic acid kills them whether they are in the stomach causing it, or in the gut as well.

The best method of protecting against future ulcerative colitis attack is to have high stomach acid, such as betaine hydrochloride with every meals. Bad bacteria in the stomach is VERY SENSITIVE OF pH, by that I mean pH below 6.0. You can do well if you get alkaline by taking baking soda after every meals. Probiotics makeup DEPENDS on pH. If your gut pH is below 6.0 you can end up taking probiotics forever. But by having an ideal pH for the gut it allows them to grow probiotics in your stomach more naturally. Regulary taking humic acid is very important as it is natural antibiotics and helps with the gut's health. Remember, humic acid is regulary feed the livestock to prevent such similar conditions in pigs and cows as do humans.

06/15/2011: S. replies: Hello, thank you so much for your fast response! I appreciate all the great information. I am going to order these products and try all of this! I did have a couple of questions. As for the Aloe vera oil, is there a certain kind that I should be getting. I have read and heard that some aloe vera oil or solutions are better than others depending on the leaf, etc. I have bought aloe vera juice is that the same or do I need oil?

Also, I noticed when looking up the humic acid there are tablet forms... I assume I am better off getting the liquid form right? If so do you have a recommendation on a good pure form of humic acid? I never found cinnamon oil that I could take internally.....any suggestions on that? I did find the Lugols Iodene so I will get that too.

When taking this formula should I take this stuff on an empty stomach or with food and how often in a day?

Also how long do you think I would need to be taking this mixture to notice and see results? Or is it different for each person. Once I get my body in balance should I be good for awhile or is this something I will have to always take.

You talked about my ph level, what is the best way to test my ph level? Should I get the strips at a health food store?

On a side note I did try taking a "spit text" a candida test. It said upon rising and before eating to spit into a glass of water (not hot or cold) I did that this morning and my spit was very stringy and grew legs. Within about 1 minute or so most of the spit and the legs that it grew dropped to the bottom of the glass. The test online said the quicker it grew legs and the quicker that it dropped to the bottom of the glass meant the more yeast you had. Do you think this is a good text? Just curious if candida is part of my issue too. I was curious of what you thought about that. I assume the solutions you gave me will take care of that too.

Again thank you so much for your help. You have given me lots of hope! I can't wait to try this. I will wait to hear back from you so I get the purest forms of what to take. I will keep you posted on my progress and let you know how I do. Thanks again so much!!

06/21/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: In Bangkok I have patients in the worst form imaginable, bedridden on I.V drips and severe ulcerative colitis for years. For two cases I have the worse imaginable ones they took accutane and it started a chain reaction of events that lead up to it. For some reason it lowers the body immune system in the intestines against a particular harmful form of bacteria that resists all known standard sterilization the mycobacterium. And it took me about 2 weeks to get the to go the the bathroom again, and it takes 1 months of having enough energy to go outside, they come from the United States. The other cases it was their diets and it was high in certain heavy metals. So I would imagine you should begin improvement to some extent within two weeks, if you don't overdose the humic acid and take the required 1/16 teaspoon to 1/8 teaspoon a day. The aloe vera is aloe vera oil, nothing is mixed it is pure aloe vera oil. Never mind its the leaf or other things, it works the same if it is aloe vera. The reason why they don't sell aloe vera oil commercially is 1) it gets rancid fairly quickly (in their terms) 2) they prefer the powdered extract which cost a lot more and they don't go rancid. The reason why I used the first form is even if they are a little rancid or somewhat rancid it works. The second reason why I used the first one is they are cheaper then the extract form and you are going to use a lot of it. Aloe vera juice won't work but you can try if you want, but not for treating ulcerative colitis. You will have to contact suppliers or manufacturers directly because they don't normally sell through normal channels. It would be great if you were in Bangkok because there are supplies here but they don't export and don't use internet here as much, neither do they answer mails!

Whatever food you take make sure your food is tested for pH. It has to be over or equal to 7.0. That is a strict requirement, even it is your medicines you are taking. One exception to this rule is iodine, since it is consumed at low quantities.

The internet is filled with disinformation. Remember when we are kids we use to eat cinnamon toothpicks. Well it is actually cinnamon oils that was used. The cinnamon oil is mixed one drop to three drops per liter of water, and is shaken such that it is well mixed and soluble. Part of the reason they say cinnamon is unsafe has nothing to do with cinnamon oil, it's the coumarin content in powdered form, much like those used in spices and has to be consumed in large quantities and normal people won't be consuming and neither my remedies is nearly that large.

Humic acid is best in powdered form. It's more concentrated. Part of the fact they try to sell liquid one is simple: they get more profit selling it in diluted form and try to convince it is better. It happened with beta glucan, Q10, EDTA, etc. You can get humic acid mostly from chemical supply store and nursery plant stores, the ones that sell you fertilizer! Just visual inspection and sterilization with 1% H2O2 is enough.

When taking this formula should I take this stuff on an empty stomach or with food and how often in a day?

It is best taken on empty stomach before meals is usually the best.

Also how long do you think I would need to be taking this mixture to notice and see results? Or is it different for each person. Once I get my body in balance should I be good for awhile or is this something I will have to always take.

You should see results in 2 weeks, assuming you don't make a lot of mistakes such as eating sweets, food with pH below 6.0, and stir fried and fried food is absolutely forbidden.

You talked about my ph level, what is the best way to test my ph level? Should I get the strips at a health food store?

pH strips used to check urine level and check your food intake it must be above 7.0 or equal to.

On a side note I did try taking a "spit text" a candida test. It said upon rising and

If you have candida, taking humic acid will get rid of it, although it works best with tannic acid.

Use coconut oil for your consitipation when you take them such as 1 teaspoon would do fine.

The only oils that I allow is coconut oil. No oils are to be used in food during the treatment period.

06/24/2011: S. replies: Hello Ted, I just wanted to give you an update on how I am doing. I started taking the humic acid in water a few times a day and the results are amazing!!! Thank you so much, this has changed my life!

I first got a ph urine test kit and found that I was very acidic, and reading around 6.2 to 6.4. I also found a very helpful probiotic called Saccharomyces Boulardii. This said it would help stop the mycobacterium that you had mentioned that you thought was part of my issue. So that has helped quite a bit. I also got the cinnamon drops and felt that also helped my digestive system and noticed some improvement. I ordered the Humic acid and just received 2 days ago. Within a few hours of taking it I felt remarkably better and took another ph test and was at a perfect 7 and was alkaline! I then from there have had normal bowel movements! No blood, no diarrhea! The humic acid is AMAZING! The second day I took it was even better, regular bowel movement and no cramps, no blood, no diarrhea! I feel almost completely better! I have been very sick and have battled Ulcerative colitis now for about 8 months and I am on the road to becoming 100% better thanks to you!

I did have one question, do you feel I should continue to take this Humic acid for the rest of my life to keep me alkaline and in good health? What do you recommend?

Thank you so much for your help and concern for people! You are amazing and I appreciate you emailing me back and helping me figure this out! Are you a scientest, a doctor, natural healer? Just curious? I wish more people knew about you. You are wonderful and thank you for changing my life and giving me my health back!! May God Bless you!!!!

Also, feel free to use this email on your earthclinic site. Thanks again!!

06/26/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: First, I have a lot of people with much worse ulcerative colitis than you and they have since recovered too. The issue is mycobacterium, it's a health threat since it is one bug that doesn't respond to standard sterilization and the authorities actually allow much of the food supply to be left uncheck.

do you feel I should continue to take this Humic acid for the rest of my life to keep me alkaline and in good health? What do you recommend?

You can take it for health purposes if you want, but you take it less of course. Too much causes constipation but the level I mention is fine. Getting your self alkaline is paramount, getting yourself re-mineralize is just as important. Humic acid is the only substance I found to kill the mycobacterium. No dangerous organism can grow on this stuff. That's why peat moss mummies do not get decayed, The black peat moss is actually humic acid. Remember mycobacterium is everywhere, in your milk products and food products, and those without stomach acid are most vulnerable, Ulcerative colitis or Crohn's. Yes the cause is known, but they didn't go about finding the cure.

If you feel you have cured yourself it is to your discretion whether to continue or not. I for example take it weekly or twice weekly.

07/01/2010: S. replies: "Hi Ted, I have talked to you before about my ulcerative colitis. I was doing better trying the humic acid but I failed to tell you that I was also on a steroid. I really didn't think the steroid was helping that much because because by the 7th day I still had bleeding and some cramping and not really normal bowels. Then I started the probiotic and the humic acid I was instantly much much better and I sent you my success story. Since then I have gone off the steroid and now I am back to having trouble. Some diarrhea but at this point quite a bit of blood. Is there anything that I can do to stop the bleeding? I am cramping some and bleeding and having lots of issues again. On a side note I am having dental issues as well and my
dentist has put me on penicillin so my teeth and gums don't get infected. So I am sure that isn't helping. But I started the bleeding right when the steroid ended so I don't think it is the penicillin that is bothering me. It's like I stopped the steroid and all my issues came back. I don't know what to think, I feel like if I could get the cramping and the bleeding to stop that would be great. Any thoughts? Thank you so much!"

07/02/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The mycobacterium is hydrophobic, you need aloe vera oil. And it is mixed with humic acid. Once they get killed then you wean off slowly from the steroid when you feel it has gone. Don't forget the cinnamon oil that is mixed some in the humic acid or taken alone. But it is the aloe vera that makes the humic acid oil soluble, and that makes the mycobacterium oil soluble. Another thing that helps to penetrate the mycobacterium is DMSO. So I prepare an aloe vera/DMSO solution and mixed with humic acid. There is also another formula that works against mycobacterium used for other purposes but is applicable too. It is castor oil/DMSO and take small amounts say 1/2 to 1 teaspoon. That may be used, but it known to cause diarrhea if taken too much, castor oil is very powerful.

The most important is oils and fats and sugar must be avoided during treatment. Steroids must be used during treatment until the conditions improve first before you wean them off and that takes at least 1 to 2 months.

The third thing is healing. I think glutamine is most important to help heal the intestinal tract during your healing phase. Once they heal it will take time for mycobacterium to take over by damaging the cells, at which time you remove the steroids.

It's just practice makes perfect I think. There are other people who used aloe vera gel, but I used aloe vera oil. I think oil is better, and if mixed with aloe vera oil/DMSO and humic acid it is as simple as I can make it. You can also add castor oil on top of it too. Castor oil kills but also cinnamon oil too, but it is the DMSO that gives the penetration needed to go through the hydrophobic shells that protect mycobacterium.

There is a healing protocol that i use when the intestines are not inflamed, when on steroids and killing mycobacteria. You have to do lysine, glutamine, vitamin C, and possibly sodium silicate. It is mixed 1/4 for lysine, glutamine, vitamin C and drops of sodium silicate to 1 glass of water, and the solution must be 7.0 - 8.0 pH. Taken over the course of several days to allow healing. Then the steroids are weaned off slowly. But you need to master the first step first in killing the mycobacterium.

07/02/2010: S. replies: "Thank you so much for your quick response. I really appreciate your help! I am having trouble finding aloe vera oil, and the gel is usually for external use, not taken internally?? What do you mean by DMSO what does that stand for?

I am already off the steroid and not sure I can just go right back on. It was weird though, I didn't really feel like the steriod was helping me that much, I mean I was on it for over a week at a pretty high dose and didn't notice much help. But then when I got off of it a few days ago it really seemed like it did help. I also notice that I am not nearly as alkaline as I was before.

I have L-glutamine is that the same thing that you are talking about as glutamine? If so I can try some of that. Thank you so much for continuing to help me!"

07/03/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "If you don't feel right about steroids, there is always low dose naltrexone that sometimes helps. The low dose is generally lower than that on the internet. I mix say 50 mg of natrexone in 250 cc of water, and then find the proper dose by counting the number of drops that the inflammation does reduce. Start small such as 5 drops and then find your proper drops. If you don't know where to get natrexone, websites are generally in Mexico that are generic based, under the name Revia, which are cheaper.

The other way to reduce inflammation is butyrate, which is found in oat bran cereal without the sugar. In a research study the researchers advised 60 grams of oats a day be taken. Butyrate is needed for healthy intestines as they needed to maintain health. That will reduce it too. Some people go for butyric acid, and sodium butyrate and others, but oats are easy to find. You can take more if you want. I believe sodium silicate may prevent future infection and resistance to infection when added a couple of drops but that I have to do more experiments, and xylitol may prevent certain mycobacteria from attaching themselves, but that will have to wait.

The food has to be soft you probably know by now. Then for healing you at least need yes, L-Glutamine. but I believe Lysine for collagen formation is needed too, and vitamin C, at least. It must be at pH 7 to 8. Must be alkaline in general. There are other nutrients that are important such as B12, folate, and B2.

Remember all your foods must be at least 7, and never below it. This is very important, and the usual no fats, oils or sugar. One exceptions on oils are coconut oil, butyrates, and aloe vera oil I found helpful. I think the polyunsaturated does the most damage, which is vegetable oils so avoid that. If you cannot find aloe oil then aloe gel will do for now.

Question About Using Apple Cider Vinegar for Ulcerative Colitis

01/19/2009: Tony : Hi Ted: I have a quick question for you. I have been taking ACV for about a month now and i noticed some positive things howeve i noticed people calling it a cleanser/detox (what does it cleanse) how long does it take to cleanse and detox does this mess up your bowels? im starting to have some diarrhea. thank you, Tony

01/19/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: The diarrhea effects works on the principal that if a lot of ACV is taken, in large amounts tends to cause loose stools. However, the effects will be neutralized if more water is taken. It's the same with sea salt and baking soda of one teaspoon or 1/2 tablespoon each. It causes instant loose stool too. So is it a cleanser and detox? This depends. ACV is considered by me to have a laxative effect. A cleanser is if it cleans out your blood. But does anyone have an idea how it does that? Apple cider vinegar, or even white distilled vinegar is an acetic acid in low concentration, and when reacted with the body's bicarbonates becomes sodium acetate. It's the same if we use sodium bicarbonate to become sodium acetate. Sodium acetate is chemically interesting, it has a limited ability to dissolve excess oils inside your body, and these acetates also have anti inflammatory properties currently ignored by mainstream media. I also used this acetate to reduce methanol and aspartame poisoning, and quite possibly reduce the nerve damage acidosis induced by aspartame which degrades to methanol and formaldehyde inside your body which literally burns your nerves, thus destroying the body and accelerates the neurodegenrative process.

But anyway, a cleanser can be a laxative, such as Milk of magnesia, a common remedy along with magnesium supplements used for ulcerative colitis.

As to your question. It has some cleansing effect, but not perfect. It cleanses your intestines, much like a laxative. A detox is to remove toxins from your body which ACV and even plain dstilled vinegar does. The laxative effect is usually due to taking ACV straight without dilution or even with a mixture of bakng soda. As a result, it causes an astringent effect along the intestines of the body, so any ADDITIONAL fluids taken by you the intestines can no longer absorb causing this diarhea effect. If a diarrhea effect IS NOT desirted but a detox is more desired still, then the issue is to make sure the ACV goes into the bloodstream without the effect of astringent so the intestines could absorb fluids easier. In that case one tablespoon or two tablespoon of ACV plus 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda is mixed in a glass of water should minimize this loose stool effect.

Therefore if loose stool is experience it has a cleansing of the intestines effect. But if loose stools IS NOT experienced, it means ACV goes into your blood reducing inflammatory toxins removing some oils, which is often in excess, having a DETOX effect. Therefore, the DETOX and CLEANSING effect do not always go together.

Another thing is if the person is on a low SODIUM diet, the effects of loose stools is much more noticeable, causing definite weakness. If the body is indeed sensitive to diarrhea effect, then, 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt in 1/2 glass of water is taken. Then resulting effect should be that diarrhea effect would be reduce, assuming of course that the body has SUFFICIENT bicarbonates already. That's why to keep it safe, I alway makes ure baking soda is added so that the body won't deplete itself of a critical pH buffer such as sodium bicarbonates.

So does it mess up your bowels? Well if you got too much diarrhea too frequently you will loose beneficial bacteria from the intestinal tract. Taking TOO MUCH acv would undoubtedly ALTER the intestinal's natural pH, into a somewhat unnaturally acidic intestines causing beneficial bacteria to die off fairly quickly. The intestines' pH is about 7.3- 7.5 which is often slightly alkaline and ACV would certainly mess up the bowels to some extent. Still these factors I have already considered, which is why 2 tablespoons of ACV is added with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. The resultant pH mixed is almost identical with your intestinal pH, thus this remedy with baking soda added wont mess up the bowels as it MAINTAINS normal intestinal pH. So I therefore refrain from taking ACV straight.

Is Oil Pulling Safe for Those with Ulcerative Colitis?

12/02/2008: Tony : hi. my name is tony. i have been reading everything abut earth clinic. it has helped me so much. however i could not figure out how to post - lol. do you think oil pulling is safe for ulcerative colitis patients? thank you so much for your time tony

12/02/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Tony: There's a comment box in earthclinic that you can post. In case you are having problems posting there, you can tell me about the comments and I will relay this to be posted at earthclinic.

Ulcerative colitis is a form of bacteria that eats up flesh, causing the condition and pain. Oil pulling does remove some toxins from the body in complement with most detox. My approach is I prefer to take magnesium supplements such as magnesium citrate and alkalize the intestinal area as well as killing off the flesh eating bacteria, for example with milk of magnesia, often taking at a lower dose mentioned on the bottle, since that dose is to cause laxative, my own dose I use just sufficient to reduce the pain and kill them. I helps to alkalize reducing the resistance between the stool and the intestinal colon as greater alkalization leads to less constipation by making the stool less hard. Primarily a regular bowel movement is primarily helped mostly potassium citrate.

One oil issue deserves attention however, and that is coconut oil, which lubricates the intestinal column and provides a barrier between the stool and the open wounds of intestinal colon which gives a chance to allow them to heal. Therefore, the coconut oil, is taken maybe 1 tablespoons before every meal may help provide that barrier needed. It works the similarly when you have a cut, and you apply vaseline to keep bacteria out from the skin, preventing further infection and pain. I don't like a couple of certain foods that delay healing such as aspartame, wheat products, mushrooms, and sugar which interferes healing, especially ice cream and hence I would avoid. Perhaps taking some iodine drops or supplements may further provide some antiseptic effects too. However, oil pulling will remove free radicals, heavy metals, and toxins that are hydrophobic in nature for the body to easily remove. For some reason or another the liver has great trouble removing hydrocarbons, hydrophobic toxins and metal and this is where oil pulling helps. But I prefer using oil pulling together with taking some coconut oil too. Still the major remedy, at least for me still remains to be magnesium chloride (or magnesium citrate) supplements, milk of magnesia (without aluminum), and alkalization (sodium bicarbonate and especially potassium bicarbonate/potassium citrate).

12 Year Old Daughter with Ulcerative Colitis

09/15/2007: Lori : My 12 year old is underweight with ulcerative colitis...

"... usually 1/2 a lime (approx 4 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lime) with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/4 glass of water is taken twice a day, once in the morning and once before bedtime. A drinking water with 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in 1 liter of water and a twice or three times a week vitamin B complex (its usually called B50, where most B's are B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8 are 50 mg, except for folic acid is 50 mcg and B12 50 mcg) should resolve the problems in a matter of 2-3 weeks.

Would this work for my daughter with her being on meds for her UC? She's on Asacol, azithioprene ( Imuran) and prednisone. I need to get her health back. She also has receding gums. I sent you an email on that subject.

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: If ulcerative colitis, essentially it is the zinc and magnesium will offer the best way in killing the hydrogen sulfide producing bacteria. Alkalizing discourages their growth. It also happens whenever constipation occurs first. Once it sets in the wounds of ulcerative colitis are relatively slow to heal. A small coconut oil, my help some healing when added to food as it creates a barrier between the foods and the esophagus for example to allow some healing. Zinc supplements, and sometimes a small pinch of zinc oxide mixed in water will absorb the hydrogen sulfide.

Vitamin B complex will help with the appetite, but does not directly deal with ulcerative colitis, but does help with underweight condition. In some instances 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in one liter of drinking water will reduce the incidence of ulcerative colitis as the salt somewhat discourages the microbial growth.

Ulcers in Colon and Rectum, Losing Weight

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: The Cause of Ulcerative Colitis is due to sulfate reducing bacteria which creates hydrogen sulfide. At higher concentrations, it destroys the tissues. The environment needed for growth is a pH of 7 or below, but at pH above 8, the bacteria is suppressed. To neutralize the hydrogen sulfide requires zinc oxide and zinc supplements, to increase the alkalinity of the intestinal tract requires magnesium hydroxide (milk of magnesia), but blood is required to be more alkalize.

Mouth ulcers are based on the same principal. They also tend to be sensitive to high salts enviroment. Foods high in sulfur and sulfates creates growth. Sodium citrate, baking soda, are helpful. Nitrates rich foods are helpful as they are antagonistic to sulfates rich foods, Most irritation aspects of the hydrogen sulfide should be reduced greatly with the zinc oxide and they can be taken with a bath. Low oxygen environment makes them favorable to growth. Magnesium are also helpful in reducing certain opportunistic bacteria such as the staphyloccus as they also destroy tissues through flesh eating action. Low sulfate food might be helpful.

When foods are improperly digested, sulfur rich foods become a food source for bacteria to grow on and as a result, creates hydrogen sulfide, which can be reduce by taking humic acid, 1/ 4 teaspoon once a week or taken regularly until the ulcerative colitis heals. Sometimes ammonia in urine is an indication of improper digestion and the fact of adding humic acid reduces that too, and hence the value of using humic acids added to the water necessary to reduce cloudy urine and ammonia smelling urine which indicates improper digestion of product. In fact Texas A&M University found ammonia in animal wastes was reduced by 64% as well as reduction of sulfur rich foods such as corn and straw in hogs. It is this that cause the ulcerative colitis where Hydrogen sulfide destroys the delicate tissues of the stomach lining. The color of urine was also reduce and more colorless and less odor. Vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin Bs (in particular vitamin B5 and the need to lower some phosphorous diets too.

In general, the remedy I would likely to concentrate on is 1/16 teaspoon of zinc oxide plus 1/2 teaspoon of milk of magnesia plus 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1 glass of water taken twice a day. Some immediate relief of ulcerative colitis should be experienced. The dose is not a perfect one, but it seems twice a day, once in the morning and once before bedtime is helpful. If the remedy causes somewhat of a diarrhea or laxative effect, then I would likely reduce the milk of magnesium and baking soda by 1/2. I am have a good feedback on this one, although there simply is not enough feedback I would like to receive from this remedy. I believe the remedy should be taken only 4 days out of a week should be generally be sufficient.

As always, some changes in diets especially reduction in acid forming foods (bread, meats, pizza, cheese, etc) and most of all no oily and fatty food especially no sugar. Otherwise it would worsen the condition. Artificial sweeteners are acid forming just the same and a sea salt should be replaced instead of the use of common table salt as common table salt is too acid for people with ulcerative colitis.

How Long Does Baking Soda and Water Take to Work?

11/16/2006: Paul from Franklin, MA: Ted, I have made some good impovements with the Baking soda and water cure for ulcerative colitis. I was wonder, Does this take a while to fully heal the colon? Can I continue to take baking soda until I feel the colitis is gone? Should I try taking this more times a day to speed up the healing process? Thanks in advance for your feedback, Paul

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Dear Paul: The baking soda is what I refer to an unrecognized deficiency that our body needs. My body consumes at least 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda per day, and if it runs out and the food or water does not have the necessary bicarbonates, the body is forced to produce itself through various shortcuts that has unfavorable effects.

Assuming your acid stomach digests the food, the acid food must somehow be neutralized by this acid and it is the intestines that does bulk of the work. I mean it is about 20 feet long compared to only a mere 6-10 inches of stomach. Whenever the intestines does not have the required bicarbonates, harmful acid gets absorbed into the system, causing havoc. For example, a food rich in oxalic acid, without the necessary bicarbonate to neutralize to form sodium oxalate, will go into the body and react with the body's calcium to produce calcium oxalate. This will cause kidney stones, or if excess acid occur in intestines, without the available means to neutralize it as such, it is the intestines that get digested, and may even cause ulcerative colitis in a very few instances.

As such, baking soda is a dietary food just like water, and the body needs it all the time. You need not take everyday, since the body, works in cycles, and therefore you can take it between 3-4 days and don't take it for 3-4 days also. However, in the event that you are sick, usually it is wise, in my opinion to take it for about 5 days and 2 days of no bicarbonates.

Therefore you should continue taking it with some brief off period to allow the body to rests or adjust itself.

Should you take more? This all depends on your urinary pH. An optimum urinary pH is between 6.5- 7.4. If your urinary pH is below that take more of the bicarbonates as necessary to raise it to normal figures. Normally, you can check your urinary pH after 1 hour of ingestion of baking soda to monitor whether you actually took enough of it. So yes you can take as many times as you wish, if the urinary pH are still below normal values.

The fish in aquarium shops are often healthier because they have all the proper tools to keep them healthy depriving ourself of such health. So you need to do what you do to the fishes, namely buy a litmus paper to check for your urinary pH instead of the fish tank for once. Another helpful way is to reduce your drinking water's chlorine by adding some dechlorinator, also sold at fish shops. The fluoride additive in drinking water can be neutralized by adding a pinch of borax. The safety record of borax is good, it's toxicity is fairly close to that of an ordinary sea salt. People always asked me why is the sperm counts for most developing countries goes down year after year, the answers easy: you have been drinking fluoridated water. But also fluoridated water in general may slow down healing of ulcerative colitis as well as chlorine too. Just neutralize both of this and it will help healing faster. Ted

Has Had Ulcerative Colitis for 35 Years, Now Son Has It Too

05/04/2006: Gloria from Sonora, CA: What I would really like is information on how to control or cure Ulcerative Colitis. I have been suffering since my teens, I am in my fifties now and it is so bad. The doctor gave me prednisone and it got better but I gaines so much weight and now I am struggling with it again and don't know which way to turn anymore. I have cortisone enemmas and suppositories but they don't take the symptoms away. I take asulfadine and does nothing for it. Now my 15 year old son has it and much worst than I do. They prescribe asacol and his kidneys were bleeding, so now he takes asulfadine also, but I am really worried for both of us. Please someone help me.

05/08/2006: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: There are several simple ways you can deal with ulcerative colitis. While I don't have the luxury of having any medical equipments or tests, most of the problem can be handled by just understanding certain causes and this should deal with a great majority of ulcerative colitis conditions. While I don't know the exact causes of everyone, I have seen people being cured based on certain possible causes as follows. You will find the remedies is amazingly simple:

If the issue of ulcerative colitis is one of a specific strain of pathogens, usually baking soda (bicarbonate deficiency) is by far the most common cause.

Method 1. The reason is simple. For the intestines to function it must be in an alkaline condition. If it is in acid condition, the intestines would digest itself and certain pathogens would grow because they tend to grow best in an acid medium. When this happens, the ability for the body to absorb minerals and other nutrients becomes immediately impaired. I will suggest two ways to alkalize yourself and you determine which ones works best for you. 1. One half tablespoon of baking soda in about 1 glass of water on AN EMPTY stomach for at least 1-2 hours. If you were to eat anything salty during this period, you will go into an immediate diarrhea, so please avoid eating anything during this 1-2 hour period, bot before or after, especially salt! 2. For my own conditions, I find alkalizing myself almost on a daily basis that using 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda 1/2 teaspoon of citric acid usually works best for me. This is taken best before going to bed or very early morning, but again refrain from eating at least 2 hours after taking it. Other formulas are possible such mixing baking soda, malic acid, vitamin C, and citric acid together, where final pH or solution is around 6-7.5. If this works for you, you need to take this, at least for rest of your life (it is cheap and safe) to maintain a stable pH for your body. The solution usually is effective at the most 2 days, but in practice taking once or twice a day is best. Measuring your urinary pH will usually tell you that how well it is working or whether you do in fact have a bicarbonate deficiency.

Method 2. Of course if the above doesn't work, but they usually do to some extent, then you could have another form of bacteria, which tends to be more active and related to IBD (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). In which case an amazingly simple remedy would be to give yourself 1/2 tablespoon to 1 tablespoon SEA SALT(always start with small doses first!) in one full glass of water. Only ONE DOSE is needed to be cured and the pain and other things should slowly subside over the week with most noticeable pain reduced in the first 30 minutes. The sea salt acts as a hypertonic solution (as opposed to hypotonic solution) to kill the bacteria. Again sea salt must be taken on empty stomach for 1-2 hours. This means that the last time you eat was about 1-2 or more hours or that you will eat in more than 2 hours from now. Hypertonic solutions are effective in killing osmotic sensitive bacteria.

Method 3. Of course if the conditions of the first two don't work, but you find that method one works slightly better, then we would be looking at getting a higher alkaline solution such as 1/4 teaspoon of potassium carbonate in 1/2 glass of water. Of course, this is for the more bioweapons disease if you needed to go this way, such as Gulf War Disease which resulted in a ulcerative colitis. I am sure this is not needed, but I just want to mention here since I once had a condition which called for this kind of treatment for my sore throat or sore stomach that nothing seemed to be working.

Method 4. This works more in killing off the pathogens through the use of benign minerals such as Magnesium chloride and I have seen that after taking this improvement can be seen amazingly enough within 15 minutes. This is when the intestines or stomach becomes non-functional in which case magnesium chloride worked. The usual doses for my own test were about 250-500 mg. on 1/2 glass of water. If it works, you can just go 1000 mg later on or add more if you respond better. I can't guess at your conditions because I don't know your weight, but just try 500 mg. based on your conditions. If that is not better, then I have seen royal jelly to respond best when magnesium chloride solution did not worked. I used one half teaspoon of fresh frozen royal jelly. Should you feel better from the above four, especially method one, you need to get your intestines to heal or regenerate itself. The best way is just to take 1 tablespoon of aloe vera oil 1 tablespoon of evening primrose oil and then take lecithin. Finally, take B12 shots, vitamin Bs, magnesium and copper, selenium and zinc especially. This should clear most of the conditions. The secret in effective mineral supplements is the bioavailability of them and how the tablet can quickly dissolve in the stomach or a glass of water in less than 15 minutes, 30 minutes tops.

Again, I am living on the other side of the world, so people here and your area might respond differently, but this is what I found, at least where I live to work the best. I never take doctor's medication if I know these worked and they seemed to work for me. However, should I take it and found these are working then it may very helpful to stop taking them. I found some of my friend got morbidly obese just taking certain doctors medication. Apparently suppressing the body's immune system is not the way to a healthy body. The body is out of balance, but it is probably not the immune system. It may be a simple things such as pH, mineral imbalance, vitamin imbalance or even salt imbalances! In the long run, taking fulvic acid has more broader spectrum of minerals then most mineral supplements on the market.

07/03/2011: Virginia from Miami, Florida replies: Hi Ted,

I have been living with UC for 3 years. I am only 24 so this has been a big struggle for me at such a young age. I have tried mesalamine, rowana and steroids when a flare has occurred and it has taken months to get back to remission. I was currrently healthy and symptom-free for for nearly 2 months and now that I have started a new job, the stress has caused another flare. I have at times horrible abdominal pain that is releaved with a trip to the bathroom. I feel naucious at times and have lost a few pounds in a week. This will be the 3rd flare since I was diagnosed 3 years ago. I am currently not eating any dairy and trying to stay away from unhealthy food. I was wondering about the Humic Acid many people are commenting about. I have tried many natural remedies and none have worked. So I am a bit skeptical about Humic Acid. How does it work? What is it? Is it safe? Should I try it? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

I was diagnosed with UC in 2006, I currently experienced stress from my job and wanting to go back to school, and my mom cursing at me for no real reason. Right now I am having a bad flare, and don't have any insurance since my job is a temporary position. I am just stressed to the max. And my UC is flaring, feel so horrible like where is the hope. Feel like crying but have no tears, trips after trips to the bathroom leave me feeling weak, from losing blood, feel so bloated and crampy with excruciating pain to the stomach. Feeling like only God can help me, rrrr why me? still don't have the answer to give myslef to this question. Will go and buy baking soda tomorow after work and try hope to God it works. Any advice from my fellow sufferers of this horrible disease? Any will be greatly appreciated.
10/21/2011: Natwell from Colorado Springs, Co, Usa replies: Cannot find safe powdered humic acid, please provide some sort of company names and links if you will. Also, please directly address how to reduce bloody stools, the ulcers are in the transverse colon which is harder to reach. Butyrate enemas stopped blood at the rectum. Ovamed stopped ulcers and blood in the left side of colon, but the transverse inflammation is severe and the ulcers are present only in the transverse. It causes weight loss, bleeding with about 6 stools a day, and I am throwing up most of my foods either within an hour to 6 hours. Please any advise would be helpful- is humic acid in pill form helpful? I did find that- thank you
10/22/2011: Timh from Louisville, Usa replies: Natwell, have you had no luck with herbs & diet recomended for U.C. ? Food allergies? Personally, I have U.C. but not near the severity of yours. A couple recomendations. One, purchase a magnetic belt and wear it 4 or more hrs daily directly over the damaged area. Second, vit-A and Zinc are critical first line defense for bowel health. Get your A levels up and then try a distilled water enema w/ 100mg Zinc Oxide or preferably Ionic Zinc. This should provide some critically needed healing for you.
01/14/2012: Namebrand from Vancouver, Canada replies: Hello Ted, I have ulcerative colitis and have tried almost every single remedy out there without any satisfactory results. The SCD diet used to work for me but stopped, bentonite clay helps, the nicotine patch actually put me into remission but then stopped working.

I have read alot of UC and wanted to ask you for a treatment plan based on my situation. I know my UC was caused by the use of NAIDS/anti inflammatories. At first I was taking msm for my shoulder when I noticed a little blood in my stool, when I told the doctor, he told me I had UC and that I had to start taking medicine before things got worse. When I was first diagnosed they gave me asacol and that was my first flare up, I then tried mezavant and got the same reaction..

I didn't want to overwhelm you with details so if you need any please let me know.

Now that I have given you an idea of how it started can you tell me what to take to correct the matter? Forever greatful
