1. Eat Healthy

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) as well as most cardiologists recommend what is called the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet, which is a flexible but balanced eating plan that is based on research studies sponsored by the NHLBI. The plan emphasizes vegetables, fruits, fat-free and low-fat dairy, whole grains, fish, poultry, and beans and limits sodium, sweets, sugary beverages and red meats. With a diet that involves no “special foods” and is relatively easy to follow, you can embark on a lifestyle change to trim your waistline as well as your blood pressure.

2. Maintain a Healthy Weight

Mayo Clinic explains that your weight, or more specifically your waistline, plays a large part in cardiovascular health. Losing as little as 10 pounds can help reduce your blood pressure.

3. Exercise Regularly

Regular physical activity, classified as at least 30 to 60 minutes of activity most days a week, has the potential of lowering your blood pressure by anywhere between 4 and 9 millimeters according to Mayo Clinic staff. Even walking and light strength training can help.

4. Reduce Stress

The American Heart Association (AHA) reports that although stress does not cause heart disease, it is a major contributor to higher blood pressure and reduced levels of overall wellness. Reducing stress is an effective way to lower your blood pressure and increase your general wellness. Try lowering stress by evaluating your priorities and cutting out some of your excess activities, trying relaxing activities like yoga, and even meditating.

5. Lower Sodium Intake

The AHA also reports that the key to increased heart health and decreased blood pressure is finding the balance of sodium and potassium. Generally speaking, you need less sodium and more potassium. Try cutting your sodium consumption to less than 1,500 milligrams per day and focus on consuming more potassium-rich foods like sweet potatoes, greens, spinach, mushrooms, potatoes, grapefruit, raisins, molasses, and other foods.

6. Try Red Yeast Rice

More recent research purports red yeast rice as an even more effective option for lowering blood pressure levels. According to a study conducted by Chinese researchers in 2003, red yeast rice has the potential to reduce blood pressure levels to within the normal range from regular dosing with the compound. A typical dose of the compound is 600 milligrams 2 to 4 times a day.

7. Apple Cider Vinegar

According to research, your body needs calcium, magnesium, and potassium to regulate your blood pressure levels. Apple cider vinegar contains each of these nutrients in relatively potent amounts, so it serves as an effective remedy for the issue. Try drinking 2 tablespoons of ACV diluted in 8 ounces of water every day to achieve the best results.

8. Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper contains an important compound capsaicin. This compound helps promote blood flow and circulation throughout your body, so it decreases the stress on your heart associated with high blood pressure. [YEA]  One yr ago I started having headaches and Dr. found I had high blood pressure 187/100 yikes. I was told I needed to take meds for life. I refused to believe that and have been searching for a natural cure since then. I have found it drinking fresh Aloe every morning. I take a medium leaf wash and remove thorns, put it in the blender, with one lemon and one tablespoon raw honey. Strain and drink on an empty stomach after one month I am off meds and my readings are 109/65!!!!! I also drink one cup of hibiscus tea a day and eat cayenne pepper with meals. My friend also tried this and she is a diabetic her blood sugar is now an average 80, and off insulin.

How much lemon are you using? Is it just the juice or skin and seeds and all. Also, is it 100% hibiscus tea or one of the combination tea blends like Red Zinger How long did it take to see results?

This sounds wonderful! How much aloe vera is there in a medium sized leaf? Do you add the whole lemon with seeds and skin? Do you add water to the mixture while blending?How much mixture do you get after straining? About half a cup?

[YEA]   hi, I blend the whole aloe leaf, whole lemon, peel and all, add about a cup of water more or less. When strained you should have a glassful of liquid. First few days I had cramps and loose stools as the outer part of the aloe leaf is a laxitive. I believe it is part of the cleansing process. Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. The hibiscus is 100% hibiscus. You should be able to find it at a natural foods store or a store with ethnic products. I saw results in the second week, numbers started to go down.

[YEA]   Hello everyone. I tried this and it works! One glass hibuscus iced tea daily (no sugar) added. The aloe drink every morning. BP reading was 167/101 now BP reading is 114/64 after one month! Oh yeah I boiled the hibiscus tea from dried herb, not tea bag. Taste kind of like cranberry juice. Thank you!

Hibiscus tea sometimes comes under other names one of them being Karkadé. Maybe you find it with this name..... Here in Europe it is quite easy to find hibiscus tea!

Would like to try this, but how is it possible to have enough Aloe plants to use a leaf a day? I have one small plant. Would taking the aloe that is bottled be beneficial, if purchased at a health food store? I've tried the apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper and neither of these lower my blood pressure. Anyone had success with the bottled aloe vera?

Did not know I was suppose to put a cup of hot water in with it. But came out a little thick ate it with spoon but very, very tart! I can take a tablesppon of ACV and it's not as bad as this. Is there another way of taking this- can you use lemon juice and aloe juice?

You can buy Hibiscus seeds on line from EBay.... They would take time to grow though, but you would have plants of your own. You can also buy Hibiscus dried flowers and other items on EBay.

Aldi stores do 99.9% Aloe Vera juice if you cannot get your own leaves to do it. Health stores sell it too, but its more expensive.

I make Hibiscus tea with lemon juice and honey added to the petals with boiling water... It's lovely!

I started this 12 days ago, I check my BP twice a day. So far no change.. It was said that BP will start to drop after 14 days, I sure hope this works, I also have high blood sugar and have hopes it to will be lowered, so far it is not. I will post again after 2 weeks treatment..

I too have high blood pressure and am trying this diet. I found buying a large leaf and skinning it and putting it into a frozen berry smoothie makes it taste great. Your favorite berries, blueberry, strawberry or rasberry. Add bananna etc. I am awaiting any lower bp but it tastes great. It does blow the empty stomach aspect though. The hibiscus tea also tastes fairly tolerable straight-up. I am doing both with Magnesium and am checking if it is taurate or not.

Hi, I am travelling so could not post a video but will definitely make it as soon as I can. I thought to pen my recipe.

I take AloeVera leaf that is thick. I have observed that it makes better juice. I normally cut 5 leaves and put it in the refrigerator. (One of the nearby places has put AV plants as part or decoration on road and do not mind me taking it!!! ) I use one leaf a day & weekend off. The length from tip to my cut is nomally around 25-30 cm or 1 foot and thicknes of more than 1/2inch around 20cm (3/4") is really good.

First, wash it throughly with water, occasionally rubbing with fingers. take out thorns - just cut few mm aways from both sides.

Now take your blender jar and make slits at 10 mm distance (5 -6 cuts vertically) on leaf and then cut horizontally to get 2-5 mm thick nice slices of aloe vera leaf dropping them directly to the jar. Repeat the process till end of the leaf. I add one lime (juice only no seeds & not whole lime) and little honey may be a spoon just for taste. There is no harm in adding any of your favorite juice or berries. use what ever make it tasty! .

Blend it - (i have 3 speed blender so do it at fast, then medium followed by low) It should become light greenish-whitesh colour thick shake - this is the best leaf & juice. Sometimes if I add water it becomes runny so I avoid. I may put 3-4 icecubes after first blend just to get the mixture smooth.

Pour in a glass and drink it in one go - bottoms up to get best coverage on your digestive track. I put water in jar and then same liquid in glass to make sure that I have consumed last drop of av. Science is still not sure on which part works the most so I donot want to take chances!!

taking this juice should give you regular smooth motion from day 2-4 depending upon your cronic constipation. This is first sign of aloe working in the body!! The more you keep on taking it will get rid of toxin. It is not only aloevera but your faith in the AV that makes miracles! If you are not sure then donot waste your time. when you have full faith in AV and strong desire to become healthy, please try this.

I drink this after my 40 minute run and one glass of water.

During the day, I take normal tea or green tea which ever is handy.

AV has balanced my water intake as well. I think I have dropped 2 inches for sure may be more in last 3 months.

i started with 1 hour brisk walk on asphalt (no greens here) slowy added running starting from 100 m a piece and now I am able to run 4 Km a day and completed one 10km single strech run... all thanks to AV.

I can vouch for the aloe lemon drink. I discovered that when I start my day (best to do it first thing for highest potency and absorbability) with a fresh aloe vera leaf blended in a glass of water with a lemon or two, I lose weight without changing anything else. I did this for about four months and had lost 6 pounds, when I went for my yearly dental exam. My gums had been receding for years, and I could always count on a scolding for not taking care of my teeth (which was not accurate). This time, not only did I have no cavities and no further gum disease, but the dentist congratulated me for doing such a great job of my oral hygiene! Ha! I have read it is best to pick the aloe fresh each morning before the sun comes up (it has higher nutritients at that time), so I now grow my own aloe plants organically, rise early, and drink my fresh aloe and fresh lemon before eating anything else. I have also discovered it lowers both my blood sugar and blood pressure, both of which were beginning to concern me. Blessings.

I found this video after reading all of the posts in this thread. I would not use store bought juice personally but this is a great and simple tutorial that I'm definitely going to try! (aloe vera drink/juice)

Australia I used I stick of Aloe Vera (minus thorns) 1lemon, 1Tbs of honey and a banana for a month to cure my HBP. No result. For an extra two weeks I did experiment and add, 4 young asparagus, 15 flowers of dandellion. It was an excellent colon cleanser, but made no difference with my HBP. (150/105 for too many years to mention. Never used any medications). Franko

I wanted to try the aloe vera plant for high blood pressure. I even bought it but then I looked up on the internet side effects of this and yes I know that western medicine doesn't want cures but this concerned me.. I read a few sites that said aloe vera can cause colon cancer and kidney disease. So what is up with that?? anyone???

Hi Marie from New York - Regarding your comments about colon cancer and kidney disease caused by Aloe Vera. There is a truckload of rubbish on the internet, most of the time provided/supplied by the parties interested to mislead the public. In the future if you write a comment like this, could you please reference it, to see if the information is credible or just one of those misleading ones? Although in my case Aloy Vera didn't help reducing my HB, it had other benefits. I used it for six weeks every day 1large stick of washed Aloe, minus thorns, 1 banana, 1 whole lemon, 1 tbs of honey, 4 sticks of young asparagus mixed in the blender. It wasn't good for my HB, but helped with my chronic gastritis, helped with refluxes and like I mentioned cleaned me out, and caused NO SIDE EFFECTS of any kind at all!!! (The taste isn't very pleasent, my wife had it only once, therefore I would advise to use half the amount I used. - Anything is better then the medications and their side effects)

You can get dried hibiscus flowers at Mexican tiendas (grocery stores). Look for "Flor Jamaica" or "Rosa de Jamaica." They are more potent than most hibiscus in tea bags. I use a tablespoon of dried hibiscus flowers per cup of water, and steep for at least 15 minutes to get a dark, strong, red tea. Heat the water to 196 degrees, but no hotter. If you heat it to boiling, you'll destroy the helpful constituents of the plants. I have a friend from Guatemala whose father is a doctor. She says get the red variety of dried hibiscus flowers, as they are the most potent. The best I've had was from Guatemala, but Frontier brand from Amazon is very good also.

I have tried different things such as apple cidar vinegar, Beet root, Taurine, magnesium, Olive Leaf, Alpha Lopoic Acid, L Carnitine, COQ10, exercise, eliminating a lot of salt from diet, stress management, weight management..

I read that people have successfully reduce HBP with the help of oat(not processed) broth. It reduces anxiety, acts like diuretic, has a lot of minerals. I would like to try this remedy.

Hello, If one is weening off bp medication but has added alternative products to see what will work best ..There of course are spikes in bp so does one wait it out??

Bee: Bill recommends a liver detox and he is right. The problem might be that a bad liver is making bad cholesterol. The glands make bad hormones from bad cholesterol that constricts the capillaries. Concentrated powders are good for liver detox. I buy them from zn-------. Broccoli sprout, mangosteen, goji, and the all in one formula would be good. Aged garlic and saponins from yucca liquid, tribulus, horse chestnut, and jiaogulan would also be good. You can soak organic lemon peels in water and drink the water.

I also use Lecithin.. will get some cod liver oil.. Oh; the woman told me to juice green veggies and drink two large glasses a day.. Now I have to buy a juicer.

Bee: A nuclear powered sub requires a lot of parts. They have to be properly prepared from reputable companies. Some require maintenance every month, some every year. Same with nutrition. D's half life is 6 weeks. This is why many people get sick in late winter. C from whole food depletes at 8%/hour. The best way to do nutrition is to take all the nutrients in small doses every hour or two with water. Raw has enzymes. Organic and grass fed has activators and trace minerals. The nutrients in a raw organic banana are going to have higher energies than those of a noodle. The best way to eat is like an ape. They eat 1/2 leaves and 1/2 fruit. Pound for pound they have twice the strength of the strongest human. Organic baby leaves are the best veggie. They have growth factors and hormones not in mature veggies. They do not require a juicer. Make a green smoothie from 1oz, some organic chili, water, and 30g organic whole sugar every two hours. You can take fruit instead of sugar. High carb requires 10?t/calorie or less.

Mike from Denver.. My diet is mostly raw and mostly vegetarian with fish.. I hardly eat much .. I do not eat the American standard diet.. No processed foods, junk food or fast food.. I do not eat red meat or even turkey or chicken or soy.. Most of what I eat is natural and wheat and gluten free... the only thing I drink is water and lemons.. the only fruit I eat is watermelon.. I take Spirulina and wheat grass once in awhile.. I use lecithin and cinnamon and turmeric on food and sometimes cayenne... I use ACV, olive leaf, Taurine, magnesium, beet root and I eat beets. I drink eggplant water and I use organic products all the time.. I also use astragulus and have added a few things.. I walk a few times a week.. I don't eat sugar and watch carbs and sugars....there isn't much more I can do.. I do add and subtract things as I go and experiment all the time. I will be 60 soon and yes I am depleted in things as I age so I added COQ10 and L Carnitine and ALpha lopic acid.. Oh; and I am trying out sea salt. I am just trying things out to see what works the best.. I also ground myself and get sun when I can..

I will add Cod liver oil to my bag of tricks.

it is just frustrating to see what works and what doesn't.. I am feeling like a science experiment.. thank you

Hello anyone?
I am slowly weaning myself off beta blockers and read that one cannot use iodine when doing this. I do have some Lugols but have not used it yet? Should I wait until I am off the medication or does anyone know if I can use a bit of it for now or how long can I wait to use it.

Not sure if you paint it on or do you drink it?

I keep reading things about how sometimes we need pharmacy drugs and how natural things might not work ..I never want to take pharmacy drugs which I do now but weaning off and trying to find what is best to keep hbp at bay.. Not sure what is the best yet; but what happens if nothing natural is working .I don't have faith in western medicine but is there a natural cure for most things and don't have to go the western medicine route..??? how many things can be tried or researched or taken natural before it becomes very frustrating to find the right combinations...

Just curious what others think?

Bee: I did the same thing you are doing for many years, studying and experimenting with supplements and herbal remedies. The super food concentrate powders eventually cured all my maladies, but they did not make me feel super (pun intended). Taking high energy water every hour or two makes me feel super. I get high energy water from raw paleo, the 80/10/10 program, activated barley, and home brewed water kefir.

Not finding a natural remedy doesn't automatically assume that one should be taking a conventional medicine. I have spent years tracking down natural remedies for things without success. I still won't take toxic medication. Why take a treatment that has damaging affects on health. Sometime people are caught between a large rock and the ground and are forced to that route. The one thing that has helped me the most was being PERSISTENT. Every year new supplements and information comes on the market. The other factor is what results the Google search engine will give a person. Same search words will give two people different results. Google is run by the intelligence agency. They will tailor the results to the individual hence compartmentalize people. Finding the correct search terms is also difficult. It takes persistent searching month after month.

Conventional medicine is designed to kill or debilitate your health. Most cancer treatment should never be done even if there are no alternatives because it will kill you quicker. It is also designed to also strip people and a country of it's assets. It is also designed to keep people who are chronically ill sick. The key is to stay away from the deadly and useless things.

Maybe a pharma medication helps with symptoms so one decides to take it. The key here is to never quit searching for a natural alternative and use natural remedies to ward off damaging side effects of the medication in the meantime.

Prioris: Thanks for your bold voice concerning the (sad) truth about our current social order.

If I might add, it seems much of the pharma drugs is an issue of "dose dependence". M.D.'s are coerced into prescribing drugs and the high dose pills are what profits big pharma most; so it seems many people are taking way too may mg and experience much bad side effects, and many die from all-sorts of errors associated w/ the powerful chems.

As for searching, I do not depend on one single engine. I rarely use Google and mostly use Yahoo. MSM/Bing and Ask are other choices.

Back to meds, I have found that the insert for prescription meds is the common info according to the majority. If you are not in the majority that was studied, you may very well experience major side effects not listed in the insert or PillBook. Case-in-point, the generic Lipitor that MD rammed me w/. Of course I was cautious and split the pill in half and took not every day. I did an internet search and found that in rare cases substantial neuropathy or pulmonary fibrosis could and have occurred. Well, here I am w/ both these conditions already so this mandates an entire new level of caution.

You are so correct in your assessment of statin drugs. There is a Yahoo Group called "Stopped Our Statins" where these adverse reactions are recounted daily by members who were very healthy until they took even low doses of statins for only six months. I believe I have an autoimmune disease from statin use, as documented by U of Duquesne School of Pharmacy. An interesting response by one member to a prominent doctor declaring the safety of statins lists the renumeration he has received in the past few years by many Big Pharma statin producers. There is also a CD called " Statin Nation" that is enlightening, made by a statin damaged person and involves interviews with doctors who are opposed to the belief that statin use is safe for most and why. Adverse reactions are rarely reported by the prescribing doctors, so the number of people affected is not known. If you get a chance, please take a look at this group and you will see the extent of the damage done to previously healthy people. It is shocking.

I am so frustrated right now with doctors and I cant seem to find one who understands what I am dealing with... Been weaning off beta blockers and doing it at my own pace and slowly and I knew I needed a prescription. At first I went to see a naturopathic doctor but she retired and so I went to see someone else in the same office... Well when I told this doctor I am weaning off this medication and doing it slowly due to side effects she kind of bit my head off and said well then why did you come here if you need a prescription..? You have a week left now and then you can stop... I was like what??? that is not working for me.. I am doing this slowly.. I can't go from 50mgs. down to 12 in a week.. Too many side effects.. So right then she said then you are wasting my time and why did you come here? I am shocked, appalled and felt like a deer in the headlights.. Anyway; she gave me a prescription but for less and that was that..

I use do go to a clinic but all they do is push drugs so I didn't want to go back there... now I don't know how to deal with doctors anymore... I have been using natural things to lower bp and they seem to work .. Just have to keep tweaking here and there.. I have read so many things online about drugs and everyone is different. Doctors seem to clump everyone in the same category and give the same generic instructions...

So now I have no idea what to do as I would like to find a doctor who does natural medicine or integrates but now I have no clue..

@Bee: Focus your natural remedies on improving liver & kidney functions and your BP will decline in time. Try and not be in any way confrontational w/ physicians as most are simply following standard procedure. Just let the BP numbers speak for themselves and the Dr will adjust meds according and then you wouldn't need to provide any personal information which would spark ridicule.

Hi Bee xx Have you looked in to 'The Linus Pauling' protocol at all? He had great success regarding heart and BP matters and a host of other illnesses by using mega dose vit c plus other supplements. And you can get his book 'How to live to be a hundred year's' by Linus Pauling on Amazon.

Don't give up hope sweetie, keep searching and the answer will come. I know patience is a 'miracle' as well as a 'virtue' when you try so hard for such a long time. But we really need that and tenacity . I too have been on the long and winding road regarding my health. But I ain't finished yet and I'm not giving up either.

Well I told the doctor that I was weaning off medication and she got upset that I wouldn't follow her instructions and was doing it by the way I was feeling.. I have a high sensitivity to drugs but I hear what you are saying...........just act dumb and like I don't know anything?? LOL

Many reasons for high bp

mineral imbalance, high cholestrol. or maybe that is your normal BP. As long you are feeling comfortable in high bp range, I would say it is normal.

BP and diabetes are lobbied ailment so the patient gets continuous medical treatment so they can make money.

For high bp:

Soak 3 dried prunes overnight in a glass of water and drink this water early in the morning. Do it for 5 days, give gap for 2 days, again continue for 5 days. If you feel better stop it till you feel you have high bp. Again start.

Trust your body, don't trust the readings. Good Health

I am taking about 500 miligrams of vit.C.daily and a bunch of things... I believe I did read the Pauling protocol but now I forget. have to look at that again.. I am still tweaking I guess.. going to look into juicing lemons again..

I understand what you are saying. I was thrown out of my doctors office for that. He wanted me to get off my Panic Attack meds. I had been taking them for 16 years.

I went to another doctor for another prescription just once, but I knew if I took off so many mgs so quickly I would start panicking too much. So I used my fingernail to take off a little at a time. By the time that other prescription was done. I was actually ok and started to drink calming tea. It was Passion Flower tea. I was ok then. Hope this helps you.

Hi Bee. I believe your post a day or two ago was about HBP. Many causes, just a few, chronic infection in body or high sodium levels. For the kidneys, just in case you may have a small stone or stones blocking complete bladder empty. ( I mention this because my father could not get his BP regulated for about 5 weeks and believes he passed a stone after medi doc gave him prescription for water pill. His bladder emptied complete, and he felt as though something passed; he also dropped 5lbs in one day. He was holding, water not able to complete process, just dribbling, until water pill. BP is now regulated with his meds.)

We are here for natural, so if I were treating myself, I would do the lemon juice / olive oil flush mentioned here on EC just in case something is blocking your urine flow. 2 oz EVOO and 2 oz fresh squeezed Lemon juice followed by very large glass of water, the more the better. # 2 hibiscus flower tea or asparagus extract will flush the kidneys of excess sodium. I would just be sure to supplement my vitamins and minerals because they will be flushed as well.

As for my liver, I love milk thistle and dandelion root.

Thanks for the reply....but I do drink about 9 glasses of water a day if I can.. I also drink a lot of dandelion tea and use lecithin...

I read something from Dr. Mercola that said that Hibiscus tea was not good for us . Not sure why .....Being I am on a beta blocker I watched a video that said do not do any type of flush while on a beta blocker.. So I have no idea why, but I do juice lemons but not on a faithful basis.. My bp was 140/90 the other day but it has been lower but I am 60 years old and probably ten pounds extra weight......I do think I might have some gallstones ..

I also believe when someone weans off medication their bp can go bonkers.

Mary, glad you were able to find a way to calm yourself. You may want to take a look at the movie documentary Food Matters. This is probably one of the best videos I have ever seen. Food really does matter when dealing with anything health wise.

You can probably find this on the web with a quick search. I actually have the movie. There are many websites now though that show videos and movies with the click of a mouse.

I love the natural cures and I have been using them for my high blood pressure...........Only thing is that I read a lot of medical support groups online about people having so many diseases and taking so much medication... I have always had a passion for health but at times when I read these things I think omg. why so many diseases in the world. I know there are genetics, the water, food, environment, etc.etc......but it seems very overwhelming how these things come about.. and doctors have no other alternative but to give out the pills.

No matter what we do and take care of ourselves are we just destined for some type of illness?

I have high blood pressure ( 162 sometimes 45 it changes all the time) now Doctor wants me to take a chemical product called Coversyl. By reading the side effects I refused taken it. he told me that no alternative medicin can reduce high blood pressure, which I don't believe. I don't drink, nor eat meat, and check the salt intake, no cheese, I would like to know what causes my high blood pressure, one think I know when ever I am in his office, my blood pressure is high, he scolds me by not beeing co-operative, so I decide not to see him any more, it just doesn't work with each other, I am just not taking chemicals. Would appreciate hearing from you guys, because he does scare me each time I see him and that increases my blood pressure even more.

Start off by getting a blood pressure monitor at the drugstore. Take it yourself and keep a record of what it is. Then, practice 'calming' techniques--deep breathing, etc, and learn how to get it down that way. Make a list of everything you take and then check each item to see if it can raise your bp. the dgl licorice for my ulcer would raise mine, so even 'natural' things we take can make it go up. Besides that, do some research on this site and see what else you can do. If your bp is normal when you take it yourself, then you can show this to the dr and demonstrate that he causes it to go up.

Yes I was going to suggest that water cure.. I am trying it myself but I am not comprehending it well. Not sure why? I do use sea salt for palpitations and this morning I used a teaspoon and just put in on my tongue and now am drinking 9 glasses of water.. I have some celtic sea salt.. I keep reading different things. Take the salt on your tongue or put the salt in water.. so not sure.. I looked at the website also.. I am also wondering how long does this take and does it have to be for a long time or is it short term?? Thanks

Someone on this site had posted that her son in law brought his HBP under control by drinking Eggplant water, and it was tried by me and I confirm that it does work.

Now how to do it, peel the eggplant skin off and then make small pieces and put it in a glass jar fill it with water cover it with the lid and put the jar in the fridge, after 48 hrs you can start drinking this water at least twice a day say 200 ml each time. Each time you drink this water, you can put same amount of fresh water in the jar and finish it in three days. After that you can make the fresh batch. The capacity of the jug should be around one to one and a half liter. I suggest you try this and see if it helps, I am sure if it does not help then it is not going to harm you either.

[YEA]   I have found that being more cognizant of my blood sugar has helped my blood pressure, when other natural methods didn't.

Blood sugar isn't something I've ever had to worry about, but during my endless research into natural alternatives to BP med's, I stumbled across some interesting information that prompted me to pay more attention to blood sugar when it comes to BP.

I see many here with BP issues write that they "eat well", no junk food, etc. However, there are foods that don't fall under the junk category that can wreak havoc with blood sugar and BP.

Whole wheat bread is a good example. Two slices of whole wheat bread (or whole wheat cereal) spike your blood sugar more than a Snickers bar. Who'da thunk it?! :)

Glycemic Index of whole wheat bread = 72. GI of a Snickers bar = 41!

After much trial and error with many natural methods to get my BP under control, what's worked best are the following:

-Keeping my blood sugar steady, (i.e. eating before I hit the "I'm starving! " mark and want to eat my own arm...haha :)

-100mg's of CoQ10 twice a day

-One capsule of Acetyl-L-Carnitine 800/Alpha Lipoic Acid 400 combo twice a day. I found the combo capsule for dirt-cheap via Spring Valley (Walmart's brand).

-Sipping potassium-rich water throughout the day. I alternate between coconut water, which is potassium-rich, and potassium broth, which is made from boiled potato peels.

-Before bed, I spray my legs and feet with magnesium chloride spray that I make myself from the quick-dissolve capsules and water.

If, as with me, other natural remedies have failed, give this one a try. So far, so good!

Oh; I don't eat a lot of carbs nor sugar and don't do a lot of bread. If I do its very low carb and I am gluten free . If I eliminate anymore food I will not be eating anything...I might start jucing tomorrow...

Hi Sigistardust...Coversyl contains a drug called perindopril whose main dangerous side-effect is to cause renal failure due to the combination of high drug acidity and high blood pressure which always tends to destroy the delicate filtration network in the kidneys. So you were very right to refuse this drug.

To help you with your BP problem:

* Take 500 mgs Niacin(Vitamin B3) twice a day at meals. To avoid the niacin flush effect, take an aspirin 20 mins before you take the niacin. Or you can take the slow release form of niacin -- inositol hexanicotinate, which will not give the flush. Do not use the niacinamide form of B3 as this has no beneficial effect on blood pressure. See this article by Abram Hoffer. See this article on how to take niacin.

* Also take a tablespoon of Brewer's Yeast once every day in a drink -- B Vitamins always work better when supplemented naturally as a group because all the B vits are dependent on each other and tend to work together in concert. Niacin particularly acts to change the blood. Blood which is too thick or which has too much clumping will be more viscous with increased BP and increased strain on the heart. Niacin safely thins the blood, lowering BP to normal levels thus removing the strain on the heart.

*Supplement a source of Iodine. I find Lugol's Iodine the best (I been taking 8 drops or 50 mgs 5% LI a day for the last 8 years). You can also use other iodine forms like Iodoral if you wish. Iodoral is simply Lugol's Iodine in a pill. I regard iodine as an essential mineral element that everyone lacks in their diets today and most people are low thyroid as a result. Iodine also helps to solublize fats and proteins(including cholesterol) in the blood for better utilization and removal by the liver. Coronary heart disease, high BP etc can be caused by blockages or build up of fat proteins (called lipoproteins) in the blood. So supplementing lugols iodine acts to normalize these lipoprotein to more healthier levels. See these guidelines on how to supplement lugol's iodine. Iodine also increases energy, kills a wide variety of pathogens, prevents menstrual problems by normalizing hormones, increases bone density, reduces cysts formation, removes mercury, lead, aluminium, cadmium, arsenic, fluorine and bromine from the body as well as being the main ammunition needed for the immune system to help fight pathogens in all the mucus sites of the body.

* Reduce all diary in the diet to reduce your calcium intake. Lipoproteins are normally bound to calcium which can cause constriction and blockages in the blood vessels. Take 250 mgs of Magnesium Citrate twice a day with meals to help regulate excess calcium in the blood which may be causing contributing to your problems.

* Take Vitamin C -- 1, 000 mgs three times a day.

* Nattokinase. This is a protease enzyme that digests fibrin or dead organic matter in the blood vessels that can cause blockages and high BP. I would first try all the nutrients shown above on their own for a while first. If that doesn't help then use the nattokinse (which is expensive).

And being a vegetarian I should also add Vitamin B12(not in Brewer's Yeast) and some form of extra sulfur to your diet -- -like MSM(Methyl-sulfonyl-methane), ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid) or N-Acetyl-Cysteine. See research on essential sulfur for the body for more ideas. Vegetarians generally always lack adequate sulfur nutrients in there diets. Sulfur can also be found in small amounts in foods like eggs, garlic and onions.

Hello Bill and others who offered me help in regards to b.p on this issue. I bought some lugol's iodine from Australia, just wonder does the product has to be refridged after opening the bottle? Something I didnt do! But I will take lugol again. Niacin seems to be also a healer, I once took niacin, but broke out in hives, which scared me I will try it again. Will start with a smaller doses, don't mind the flush, vit b-3

Again many many thank you all of you with sound advise.!!! I will let you know my progress after 2 weeks it should show some.

Bee: Dieting increases the disease state. Energy and nutrients are required to detox, nourish, strengthen, and repair the tissues. Cells do not burn vitamins and minerals as fuel. There are 2 food programs people can follow. I follow the 80/10/10 program begun by the nutritionist to Martina Navratilova. Carbs are for fuel. Fats and proteins are for structure. Mitochondrial proteins unfold when fat is below 5%/g of carbs so that insulin can attach to the receptor sites. Medium fat medium carb folds the mitochondrial proteins so carbs, insulin, and nutrients, accumulate in the plasma, causing degenerative diseases. The cell can burn small amounts of carbs when fat is high. The best way to do the high fat low carb plan is to take expeller pressed coconut oil for fuel. Hello Bill!

Question about Lugol's. I have been using 2 drops every day of the 2% solution. Have been researching for many days on low thyroid activity as I am overweight and have been dealing with an itching pimple like rash, along with water retention in the ankles. I too am trying to wean off the blood pressure medication. Right now I do feel that estrogen is causing a lot of problems for me as I am in that change of life. But I have read that supplementing with iodine causes suppressed thyroid hormones as does PUFA"s. What are your thoughts on those? I take flaxseed oil daily and now am finding that it should not be taken because it's high in PUFA's. Also, Bee, have you considered progesterone for the high blood pressure. I take approximately 200-400 mg a day of natural progesterone.

Hi Rj...The cause of your high blood pressure may well be due to hormonal imbalances in your body. Taking progesterone is useful, but this is really only treating the symptoms -- because your body is already lacking in progesterone (due to hormonal imbalance -- the realcause) and so you are not actually addressing the main reason or cause for this problem.

The best way to balance your hormones is to take the full Iodine Protocol together with niacin + B vitamins on a daily basis. Take at least 500 mgs niacin twice a day at meals. You can also take the no-flush niacin -- inositol hexanicotinate which might perhaps be easier for you. Other forms of niacin such as niacinamide do not have such beneficial effects on blood pressure. Take either B50 complex or brewers yeast once a day as well.

There is some research by Dr Flechas from the Iodine Project, who describes his treatment with LI for a 320 lb lady with both thyroid problems and diabetes. After only a short while on iodine, this lady was able to completely come off her diabetes meds. What's more, she lost 70 lbs after several months on the iodine protocol. Iodine makes all hormone gland activity more efficient and also tends to make digestion, transport, assimilation and the excretion of fats more efficient in the body. I lost a tremendous amount of weight after I started taking LI, and it has stayed off.

Other protocols, such as the alkalizing protocols and the borax water protocols shown here on EC and taken on a daily basis will also help you to further balance your hormones and lower your blood pressure.

You should also avoid the combination of fats(especially veg oils), unrefined salt(use sea salt instead) and sugar in your diet.

RJ, No I have never thought of progesterone cream but maybe I should try it.. what kind do you use? Many years ago I used to use something from a company but it was very pricey and you know I did feel a lot better.

Oh; and of course the doctors want to check my thyroid and all.. I just am trying to stay away from doctors as much as I can and after I get off these pills I won't be visiting doctors much.. They always seem to want to find something wrong..

Hello Bill!

It is so very frustrating. Right now as I sit here and type this back to you my skin feels as though it's sunburned and if I scratch it welts...ugh! Hormones are completely out of whack....have been for two years now. Just one day woke up and my body didn't want to look back to being normal. But at 48 I do not expect that. I will read the iodine protocol as I only take 12.5mg a day. It is so confusing. Ray Peat is the person who does not recommend taking iodine as it creates low thyroid fact, the only vitamin he recommends is an "E" every now and then. If I followed that protocol I would be throwing away 99.9% of my supps. But at 280 pounds something isn't going right inside and this itching, inflamed skin is driving me batty LOL. I do take a lot of supplements a day and I mean a lot. I even suspected that I was having trouble with one of them and stopped all of them for a month and luck...still itch and inflamed. The only thing I haven't stopped is my bp medicine which may be causing the trouble. I know I cannot go out in the sun for more than five minutes or I burn and welt terribly. I take all of what you have suggested except I take a B-100 complex and I do not take niacin. I did read your link to doctoryourself....very interesting. What is your take on flaxseed oil versus coconut oil. That is something else Ray Peat said, that PUFA"s are bad and sadly flaxseed oil falls into that category. Thank you for your suggestions, as with Ted's, yours are also very important to the person trying to change their "insides" without the doctor prescribed chemicals. Besides when we get down to it we are just a number in the thousands a doctor sees. Whereas, we are number one with ourselves....well know what I mean LOL. If I had been number one for all these years I wouldn't be so obese ;) Thank you again!

Go to Wray has a wonderful site. I too am trying desperately to get off the bp medicine. Would like to lose 50 pounds before I do, but the weight won't budge as I am sure from hormonal imbalance. I have actually cut back from two pills a day to a half a pill a day. The only reason I continue to take that half now is the water's just awful in the ankles. That is why I am once again searching on EC's site...looking for a remedy. Natural is so much better for you. Read Sayer has a lot of good information on his site. His site along with Earthclinics, Wray's and Mike Adams aka Naturenews have been lifesavers for me. Earthclinic helped with a spider bite last month that we were desperate to find a solution as the doctors were not helping. I feel your pain, Bee. I really do. It will work out. I take approximately 1,500mg a day of NAC...have for about two years. It's wonderful for women who have breakthrough bleeding. I was afraid to take the arginine as I have read that folks who use blood pressure medicine should not take it. But I will read your link. Thank you so much! God Bless! RJ

Yes, I definitely would not take arginine with nac without discussing it with your doctor first.

In that study, the NAC and Arginine were not used with other blood pressure lowering drugs, but rather as a stand alone treatment. What I liked about that study was the good results and especially the benefit of all of the potential "side effects". With regular blood pressure meds, the side effects are usually negative. You'd have to read the link to see what those side benefits are, but they are numerous and good in terms of long term overall health.

What is odd to me is that there were never any followup studies on that relatively small and obscure 2008 study considering how good the results were. I guess there is no money motivation in it. If a drug company came out tomorrow with a blood pressure med that could lower blood pressure and have all of those other positive health benefits, it would be a block buster for sure!

The combination of arginine/nac is what I use to control my pressure and I add in lysine every so often to keep my arginine/lysine ratio balanced.

I would suppose no further studies because of what you have found out from your own experience....the combination of the two work and the drug companies do not want that as they cannot patent either of the supps. The other reason could be the study came out of Italy. You will not see the US following up on that...just like all the bad publicity of statins here of late. They cause our bodies far worse problems than taking them. In fact, I have recently read that a good cholesterol level in a woman entering menopause is 280.

Natural remedies are not what big pharma companies are seeking. And I do believe I will try the combination. I am trying to stop the bp medicine so I do not have to go back to the doctor. Finding a good doctor with an open mind to natural remedies is not available in the rural areas. Further my current doctor wanted me to have blood work done and told me he hoped all the results would come back bad so it would motivate me to lose weight. I was dumbfounded and hurt and prayed to the Lord as I was coming out of his office that I would find a cure to all my ailments. I didn't do the blood work lol. Why? I know what I am battling. I do not need blood work to tell me things are off kilter. I have begun the iodine protocol Bill recommended as I had that on hand and will order the niacin and arginine also...I already take lysine...and maybe along with the bp going down so will the weight. RJ., OMG.. When I was in doctor's office I too only wanted a new prescription of meds for hbp to continue to wean off of them.. The doctor would only give me 60 day supply I think? I don't think it's enough and now I either have to go back to another doctor and get more meds or trust this doctor who said yes you can get off these meds in two weeks.. I was like what happens if I can't? Then she also said get some blood work.. I feel fine and blood work is like 500.00 where I live .. and that charity care thing makes me nauseous....I will not be going to a doctor when I find my homeostasis.. not if I can help it..

I hear you and I too live in NY and cannot find a decent doctor .. I was going to a clinic for treatment for high blood pressure and they didn't know much and of course gave me the pills .. Well I am weaning off of them and decided to try a holistic doctor. She charged me 150 and she was okay but I wasn't impressed plus her weaning schedule for me didn't work so I started weaning off the way I thought was best for me by a friend and reading a lot on the internet.. fast forward this doctor now has retired so I went to see another colleague of hers in same office.. Well this one was so nasty and treated me terrible... and I paid that time 65.00 ....

The clinic would charge me 15.00 a visit... but I always saw different doctors and they wouldn't give me advice on how to wean off I still don't have any real good answers on weaning off medication and every doctor or person gives me generic advice or has no idea on anything... So I am doing my own thing but would like some comfort in knowing if I am doing the right thing. Know what I mean?? This last doctor gave me another generic one size fits all instructions and since I am highly sensitive to drugs this might not work either so I have to go by how I feel and how my body works... I so am going to avoid doctors if I can help it I know how it goes and I am in same boat. How does one find a decent doctor who will at least listen to a patient and not fit us all into one size fits all.

Go off your BP meds very slowly. Get a pill cutter and take off 1/4 of the pill and stay on that for 3 weeks. Then take another 1/4 off and stay on that for 3 weeks...Repeat the process until completely off...Be very careful especially with Atenolol. It can cause neuropathy...If you go off too fast it will cause ventricular tachycardia which means an operation called "Radio Frequency Catheter Ablation" which takes 4 1/4 hours with NO anesthesia...

There are many easy ways to lower your BP without drugs...Don't be a buyer for your supplier.

And by all means DON'T let them talk you into going on any kind diuretic what-so-ever!

Drink lots of water with sea salt...The water and salt will lower your BP naturally. Drink 6-8 glasses a day with a liberal amount of sea salt on your food. It works. And of course try to walk a bit every day.

If you are speaking to me then yes I am doing the weaning of medication very slowly.. Started last Feb. and decided to go at a very slow pace because I have read horror stories about beta blockers but not atenolol.. You scared me a bit too. Anyway; I at first started with advice from a doctor and had aweful side effects so I found other info. in other places and decided to do it another way and much much slower...and forget what the doctor said....When I felt level at a lower dose for a few months I extended the time I took it instead of cutting the pills.. I found that online. that seems to work the best.. and yes it comes to about a l/4 off each time.. So I hope this is slow enough because I am on from 100 to 75 since last Feb. but I feel this is good and progress for me.. I felt like what was the rush but when a doctor wont help or tell you oh; you can get off this in two months I said no can do....I am doing it slow and at my own pace. they just don't listen or care..and look at me like I have three if I do need more medication for weaning I will just get more and do it more slowly if I have to....

Anyway; I feel yes at doing it at the l/4 seems right.. to get this stuff out of the system and feel balanced... last night I felt I might be ready for 37 miligrams as I have been on 50 for almost a month and half and just felt it was okay... but I will def. see how I feel the next few days..if I have to stay on 50 mgs. longer then I will... and then back down to 37 mgs.. for as long as I need and so on and so on.

Bee, you're doing well. Doctors are not especially compassionate these days and haven't been for many years... It was different in the 50's and 60's...You know how you feel. If he or she doesn't believe it, get another doctor or stay tuned to Earth Clinic which is an HMO for a lot of people...Good luck and btw Atenolol IS a beta blocker...

To everyone: My BP tonite was 158/96. I immediately drank water with one heaping tsp of Calm magnesium powder. Now, it's 135/83. That's a huge decrease!

I've ordered Magnesium Glycinate, because Calm is Citrate which will soften the stools too much. The Glycinate supposedly doesn't.

No, the speed at which you consume the Apple Cider Vinegar is irrelevant. You may also wish to add a spoonful of honey or turbinado sugar (the stuff that still has the molasses in it) to sweeten it. Remember too that if your palette is accustomed to sweet things, eating or drinking foods that are devoid of that taste can be even worse.

The reason Citrus fruits like lemons, lime and ACV are good for the body is that ACV contains malic acid and acetic acid and citrus fruits contain mainly citric acid.

When these acids reach your duodenum, which needs an alkaline to neutral medium for the duodenal enzymes to work, bicarbonates are released from the pancreas to neutralize the stomach acid or chyme. These bicarbonates are also used to neutralize the citric acids from fruits and the malic acid and acetic acid. The acids from the ACV then become their salts -- actetates and malates which are highly absorbable in the intestines and they are referred to as alkaline forming. The citric acid from the fruits is converted to citrates which are also absorbed for the same reasons.

The best way to alkalize is either to squeeze a lemon or lime into a glass, or use two tablespoons of ACV plus 1/4 - 1/2 tspn of baking soda because by doing this you convert the citric acid from the fruits to citrates and you also convert the malic acid and acetates in the ACV to their salts BEFORE you digest them. So you don't need to use your own digestion's bicarbonates to neutralize these acids -- thus effectively saving your body's bicarbonates which promotes even better alkalinity as well as promoting more efficient digestion and respiration for your body overall. Essentially, by using the salt form rather than the acid forms, you are saving the body bicarbonates for use in your body rather than wasting them unecessarily in digestion.

This is also the reason why Ted always advises to take Vitamin C not as Ascorbic acid but as ascorbates. Exactly the same reasoning applies here too. Ascorbic acid is actually a pro-oxidant, and when you add sodium bicarbonate to a solution of ascorbic acid, this then becomes an ascorbate salt of sodium -- an anti-oxidant.

Firstly, when you were treating your systemic yeast infection you used molasses. How could that have worked considering you would be feeding them? Did it not make you retain water and gain weight?

Secondly, you used an alkalizing formula 3X per day did you not retain water from all the sodium in the baking soda? Also would you not experience some sort of electrolyte imbalance with all that (non sea salt) type of sodium?

I have so many of the same problems and have been fighting for my health for about 14 yrs now. Getting a bit discouraged. would like to try exactly what you did. It really sounds like Dr. Tulio Simoncini's baking soda cure for cancer. He believes cancer is fungus and he floods the area with glucose? (anyway some type of sugar)maybe it works because they feed, and they relax then he blasts the area with a very strong dose of baking soda. Any of your comments would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Mary...Many thanks for your questions. I'll try and answer them as best I can:

This is a good question. Oddly enough, when I cured myself of candida and everything else, I lost alot of weight(over 25 lbs). When you alkalize, you effectively put your body into high working efficiency. Your immune system improves and your energy also improves because alkalizing and bicarbonates are specifically used in human respiration and in digestion, making these body processes much more efficient.

I also used VCO in my candida remedy on a daily basis because the saturated fats in VCO(as medium chain triglycerides) are not stored as fat in the body, but instead the unneeded saturated fat is simply excreted directly from the liver into the intestines. Normal vegetable oils or polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats(long chain triglycerides) are always stored in the body as fats. This is why I have a high regard for VCO, for me it is the safest and best edible oil in the world.

I used molasses in order to supply my body with more minerals -- specifically magnesium and potassium during my remedy. In those early days, I was an EC newbie and didn't understand that much. If I had candida now, I probably wouldn't use molasses, but would use sea salt and fulvic acid for minerals instead and would also use borax to help kill off the candida as well. I would also use hydrogen peroxide and magnesium chloride or citrate as well which I never used before(I use them now).

When most people think sodium, they think it is the big, bad enemy -- salt. But sodium is not salt. I also agree with Ted, our bodies need sodium, over 80% of our body electrolytes consist of sodium. Therefore we need sodium everyday. The scare over salt is, in my own opinion, well overplayed. As long as you use natural sea salt, you should have few sodium or salt issues.

You wont retain water using sodium bicarbonate as you would with table salt because they are completely different substances with different effects on the body. Sodium bicarbonate is NaHCO3 whereas salt is NaCl. Both have completely different behaviours in the body. Ordinary table salt has a pH = 5 whereas sea salt has a pH = 7.5 - 8.5 and is more alkaline which is why natural sea salt is so much better for you. Table salt is refined and so only contains NaCl, whereas a good natural sea salt will contain many minerals as well and has many more useful body electrolytes that are both necessary for the body as well as being alkaline and more balancing.

Acid body conditions can lead to accumulation of fats. So can pollution of the body from heavy metals. In fact, I have read that the production and storage of fats in the body is a kind of body defence against the accumulation of heavy metals, a way for the body to hide the heavy metals safely in order to protect against their bad effects on the organs and blood.

I would also rarely use ACV without using baking soda with it. If you take ACV on its own, the acetic and malic acids in the ACV will be converted to acetate and malate salts by your digestion and then will be absorbed. So this actually depletes your body stores of sodium bicarbonates. By adding sodium bicarbonate to the ACV plus water you convert the acids to their salts BEFORE you ingest them so you save your body bicarbonates, by not having to digest and convert these acids to their salts. So you alkalize you body even more this way by saving your own bicarbonates.

The lady who gained weight using ACV might have had a problem with her kidneys or liver, we just don't know. Kidneys regulate minerals and water in the blood, she might have had a water retention problem. Fat and glucose metabolism is mainly handled by the liver, so there might have been a problem there too. Also we have no idea what her diet was and she was really one of the few cases on EC where ACV didn't help her condition.

Hi Mary...Just to help explain some things. The only thing I would perhaps change in my original anti-candida protocol now is perhaps to avoid the Blackstrap Molasses part -- because BSM contains sugar which helps to feed the candida fungus. I took BSM for the minerals -- mainly potassium and magnesium -- but there are better ways.

From what I know now, I would add this to the protocol:

* Borax -- The ultimate fungal killer. Take 1/8 teaspoon in a litre of water every day. Normally taken for 4 days, then 3 days off every week. 20 Mule Team Borax is fine for this. Borax also removes fluorine from the body.

* Magnesium Chloride or Magnesium Citrate supplementation -- at least 400 mg per day(split into 2 doses). Magnesium is used in over 300 enzyme reactions in your body, balances hormones, calming, acts like an antibiotic against bacteria, helps the heart, reduces calcium build-up in the tissues(thus further reducing body acidity) and also works together with the borax to improve and maintain bone health.

* Hydrogen Peroxide -- Anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral. Used in the protocol mainly to help clear or detox the blood and lymph of debris and to give you more energy.

* Natural sea salt or Fulvic acid for proper mineral balance.

* Chlorella to remove heavy metal build-up in the body.

* Iodine -- using Lugol's or Iodoral tablets. You can also just paint the soles of your feet with ordinary iodine tincture twice a week(I do this) -- the iodine will be absorbed through the skin. Iodine will help to remove bromine, chlorine and fluorine from the body and will also give good support to the immune system. Iodine also helps to kill the candida.

* Instead of using my own tri-herbal remedy -- choose any good quality herbs of your own choice -- such as milk thistle, dandylion and burdock -- to support both your kidneys and liver -- these are the main excretory organs of the blood. Doing this will soften the candida die-off or Herxheimer effects during the protocol.

With my original anti-candida protocol(when I didn't know as much as I do now), it took a whole year to defeat my candida. Ted maintains that you should be able to cure candida properly in 4 months. These additions should help you to achieve this.

I take most of the above now on a daily, weekly or monthly basis as a preventative defence for my body and as immune support. I haven't had cold, flu etc for well over 3 years now -- I used to catch everything under the sun when I had candida!!

Hi Bill... Although I would completely agree with what Jason Uttley says in EC about fluoride causing Fibromyalgia (see, I would have to say that this is only one of the things which would could cause this illness. My reasoning goes like this. The introduction of fluorine into our diets via water, food and drugs etc only started to happen in the 1950s. But Fibromylagia -- or Muscular Rheumatism as it was known in the old days -- was also known to exist well before fluorine was introduced into drinking water, vaccines, food and drugs in the 1950s. Therefore, there must be more than one causative factor for Fibromyalgia. As far as I can determine, the following seem to relate as causative factors of Fibromyalgia:

* Fluorine in the drinking water, vaccines, drugs, agriculture and food supply.

* Excess calcium in the western diets. This promotes intracellular acidity and mitochondrial calcification -- causes muscular pain.

* Similarly, low amounts of Magnesium in the western diet also fascilitates excess calcium and acidity in the body with attending mitochondrial pain and energy problems.

* Acidity in the body weakens the immune system and leaves the back door open to pathogens entering the body as Ted from Bangkok suggests. Therefore mycoplasmas -- fungus like pathogens -- or other pathogens could also encourage Fibromyalgic symptoms.

* There is some conclusive evidence that heavy metals like mercury from vaccines also might contribute to fibromyalgia.

So what I am saying is that I agree that there is indeed a good chance that Fluoride is a major cause of Fibromyalgia, but I do not think that it is the only cause.

So the best remedy for Fibromyalgia would be a combined remedy, consisting of:

* Take large dose Lugol's iodine(12. 5 mgs/day at a minimum) to remove the fluoride from the body.

* Take 1/8 tsp of borax(20 Mule Team borax is OK to use here) in a liter of water a day for 3 days a week. This will remove fluorine, kill various pathogens in your body, and helps to balance your hormones.

* Initially, take 800 - 1200 mgs of Magnesium Chloride or Mag Citrate or Mag Gluconate in split doses for about 3 days(or for longer if you can) and then reduce intake to about 500 mgs per day. This helps to restore your calcium balance, removes intracellular acidity and helps to eliminate both mitochondrial calcification and muscular pain.

* Alkalize the blood with 1/2 tspn Baking Soda(Sodium Bicarbonate) twice a day.

* Take 6 - 10 drops of 1% Hydrogen Peroxide I n a glass of water per day. This helps to kill the mycoplasmas that could be causing the Fibro.

* Eat cilantro in salads 3 times a week and drink green tea. This should help to remove heavy metals from your body.

* Use 0. 1% Methylene Blue. Dosage is 4 - 6 drops in a glass of water with dissolved ascorbic acid(1000 mgs) as Ascorbate twice a day. This is a mitochondrial super-antioxidant that helps to revive the cell mitochondria to give you more energy.

1. Absolutely NO SUGAR. No ifs or buts here -- if you really want to get rid of candida -- it starts here, this is a must!!

2. No junk food allowed.

3. No vegetable oil in the diet. Vegetable oil oxidizes fairly quickly on the shelf and very rapidly at high heat. Most vegetable oils are also now made from an unnatural chemical process. Better to use virgin coconut oil for cooking -- this is a very stable oil that is very good for you. When I had candida and started taking coconut oil, my bad constipation and bloating issues disappeared in about two weeks. VCO is very healthy for your body and intestines. I only cook with VCO now and VCO has actually helped me to lose weight.

4. No soda pop. Apart from the sugar, soda drinks also contain carbonic and phosophoric acids -- all of which acidifies your body and encourages candida.

5. No Sweeteners allowed -- no aspartame, sucralose or saccharine.

6. Eat only white meat like chicken or fish in small amounts and avoid all red meats.

7. No baking products like bread, cakes pastries etc. In the 60s or 70s the FDA, in their wisdom, allowed the use of bromide and bromates in bread-making and baking instead of iodine. Bromine weakens the immune system and also encourages candida growth. Strangely but happily, I recently learnt that bromides and bromates used in baking have always been banned in the Philipines. Well go figure...

8. Include using a handful of chopped coriander leaf in a salad three times a week. Ted has said that doing this for a month will remove most heavy metals successfully from your body.

9. No canned products in the diet. Bisphenol A -- or BPA -- is contained in all plastic linings of canned products and is very bad for you. Upsets hormone balance and weakens the immune system.

10. No Calcium which means no dairy products -- no milk, cheese, yoghurt etc. Avoid calcium fortified foods. Excess calcium encourages acidity and thereby aids the spread of candida.

11. No Monosodium Glutamate(MSG) allowed. This means that all soy products made from a chemical process -- including soy sauce, tofu etc. Are not allowed. Avoid all products with added MSG. But any soy products made from the natural fermentation process are OK and allowed in small amounts.

12. Avoid distilled water and tap-water. Distilled water is "dead water" -- it completely lacks any important body minerals that natural spring-water contains. Tap-water nowadays -- due to water shortages -- is now re-cycled and chemically processed from sewage(especially in cities), so Lord only knows what evil goodies tap-water contains. Enough said I think. Drink fresh mineral or spring water or create your own mineral water instead.

12. Try and avoid all (chemically) processed food if you can. Try and eat foods that are made from natural processes without excess heating or use of chemicals/pesticides.

14. When you eat food, don't always rush and over-stuff yourself, as this leads to poor, inefficient digestion and acid intestines. There is always a lag from when you feel hungry to when you are satisfied but if you eat too fast, this is not good for you. Eat your food slower and drink plenty of water at mealtimes for proper digestion. The Chinese -- and Okinawans -- normally eat until they feel 70-80% full, then they stop. This is also good simple dietary practice.

Bill: Hi I am currently trying to get rid of candida. I also think I have h pylori. I started doing the McCombs plan about 2 weeks ago. I am allowed to eat any vegetables, any fruit except oranges, all meat except pork, eggs, brown rice, coconut , almond or apricot oils, & extra virgin olive oil. I eat organic chicken, a little fish (hallibut), organic russet potatoes, organic brown rice, organic eggs, bananas, organic apples, organic kiwi's, organic strawberries, extra virgin coconut oil, occasionally organic iceberg lettuce, organic brown rice ceral (only has brown rice in it nothing eles added, sea salt & about 112 ozs of water a day & that is all that I have in my diet right now. I also take a few supplements. I cannot eat vegetables because they make me throw up whenever I try to eat them. I also am taking the supplements that I have purchased from the McCombs plan that I am also taking. This is a 16 week program. I also have to sweat in a hot bath for 10 to 15 minutes 6 days a week. I started getting very bad heartburn 5 days ago. I did do the lime/baking soda today on an empty stomach & it did seem to help, although not sure as I only had Chicken for dinner.

So my question? I think I do not have HCI (betaine) in my stomach & I think this is the reason I am getting heartburn. I took 10 capsules of HCI/pepsin @ 650mg/162mg with my meal yesterday & it did not cause any comfort in my stomach. Later on I still got heartburn a few hours later so I decided not to try the pills again. So I am wanting to know that if I do the lime/baking soda/water combo will this make my stomach acid worse or better?

Also any suggestions on helping me with the candida & the h pylori would be great. A couple of other things- I have slightly high blood pressure 140/90 & also in my right ankle I has a little bit of edema. I am 25 lbs overweight but I am active & seem to have a lot of energy, I am 56 years old. Any help or suggestions on this also would be great. [YEA]  My blood pressure has been dangerously high this week. I am on lisinopril, hydrazaline and hydrochlorathiazide with no response. I used ACV and baking soda this morning and my blood pressure dropped from 192/75 to 175/80 within a few hours. None of the prescribed medication brought it below 200 this week. My age is 75, I am diabetic and hepatitis C positive. No side effects from this remedy so far.

[SIDE EFFECTS]  I tried the ACV for high blood pressure, 2 tblspns, with 1/4 tsp. baking soda in 1/2 glass of water 3 times a day, before meals. It gave me diarrhea. I quit doing this today and I have no diarrhea. I don't like the side effects from my blood pressure medications. Does anyone know if the Apple Cider Vinegar capsules would give me the same problems? (diarrhea) Thanks for the help.

Try not using the baking soda with the acv, also drink a daily glass of beetroot juice or celery with melon. Make sure to use magnesium oil daily and also make sure potassium levels are balanced.

I too only use these things I will never take bp medication. Hibiscus tea twice daily is also what I take along with blackstrap molasses and a must for me is cayenne tincture three times daily it's nice to put some in your coffee or tea etc or add to molasses in warm water. Good luck

[SIDE EFFECTS]  I have been drinking apple cider vinegar and baking soda for the last two days for high blood pressure. I normally feel like a cement factory has moved in my bowel. But, this morning I had diarrhea. I'll cut back on the dosage. I was just pouring the ACVand BS haphazardly. Tonight I'll measure it. Two tablespoons ACV and one teaspoon BS.

[SIDE EFFECTS]  This is the 3rd time that I started High Blood Pressure (HBP) remedy (whilst also alkalising) with 2tbsp Organic ACV+mother with 1/4 tsp of bicarb of soda first thing in the morning and again late at night and need to stop again because of sudden onset of constipation that develops within the first 3 days of taking above remedy. I am normally not suffering from constipation, have always been very regular. Was prepared this time and had Aloevera juice at hand, just in case. Started with aloe on 2nd day in afternoon 2tbsp 3x daily in organic apple juice. Now at end of day 3 still no bowel movement and I have discontinued taking ACV+bicarb of soda. I am relatively healthy and dont take any medication. Only suffer with HBP, Fibromyalgia, candida, digestive malabsorbtion and use Oil of Magnesium daily, also B50 and natural vitE. My age is 68. Can someone help me understand why I develop constipation and how to remedy this outcome. Thanks for feedback and blessings to all involved with keeping this website going.

Jolole: It seems you may also be suffering Cholestasis or gallstones. This condition can cause acidosis, constipation, and hypertension. A gallbladder cleanse would be helpful. Natural remedies to increase bile flow like Dandelion Root, Burdock Root, and Yellowdock Root will help. Also drink lemon water daily (this almost always works for me; I use lemon juice concentrate and filtered water).

How safe is it to use two teaspoons of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of bsmu in 8oz of water if that person has high blood pressure? Is there a substitute with low or no sodium baking soda? Can it be used with the same effect as regular baking soda?

If they use the above concoction, is it safe to add 2 teaspoons of organic Apple Cider Vinegar to it and would it help with the high blood pressure problem. They are taking 40mg of lisinopril every day.

Flipper69: I was on Lisinipril for several months for hypertension, but managed to lower by other natural means and discontinued the L. as I also have acidic condition, I mix equal parts sodium bicarbonate and sea salt for buffering w/ absolutely no sign of elevating BP (with or without Lisinipril). I use ACV w/ food or sometimes take tablets and can't make a case for lowering the B.P. It would prove useful to have the Sodium/Potassium levels checked during next Dr. visit as one might need a little extra Potassium. Eat a fruit salad daily would insure proper P. Jon Barron recommends a kidney cleanse twice yr which would help the body regulate the B.P. and more. Lisinipril is known toxic on the kidneys, so a cleans is of extra importance.

My husband started taking apple cider vinegar and baking soda for about 3 days. But what I have realised is that his Blood Pressure is still up by 177/108. What is the cause? Kindly advise

He may have fructose intolerence, apple cider vinegar will make it so much worse. Look up fructose malabsorbtion, this will cause high bp due to sending the endocrine system into overdrive trying to compensate (by lowering or raising hormone levels to attack the invader - it is no different than a food allergy) It can present at any time in life. 30 percent of the population has it, but only ten percent are symptomatic. Go LOW FODMAP; FODMAPS are an acryonm recent discovery, it breaks down food types by the sugars they convert into upon consumption; Avoid apples, pears, F is for frutans, not saying avoid all fruit, Vegetables that contain high fructose are onions, garlic, asparagus, cabbages, etc... Just those with more fructose than glucose; Some beans, like baked beans, chick peas, kidney beans, high galactans; Reduce lactose; use real butter only, lactose free ; milk; and hard cheeses only, no yogurt or soft cheeses; Avoid ALL FAT FREE AND REDUCED SUGAR AND SUGAR FREE; as these products are made from pure fructose and do convert once consumed; will deal me great issue; White sugar is best; real sugar is best; avoid all colored drinks and foods and processed foods will have garlic, onlions, MSG, INULIN... oh the list goes on; avoid them all, stick to short ingredient foods prepared at home! [NAY]   Do not mix any vinegar with baking soda!

Vinegar is an acid, and baking soda is a base. When you combine acids with bases, they neutralize each other, resulting in two major items which are neither acidic nor basic: water and sodium.

So, by mixing vinegar with baking soda, you're changing the therapy from a beneficial vinegar to a harmful sodium!

Steve, when you combine an acid with enough base to neutralize the acid what is obtained is the conjugate base. This is the basis behind alkalization of the body by using things like citrus fruits and vinegar. In the body the pancreas secretes bicarbonate to neutralize acid, whether it's stomach acid (HCl), vinegar, citric acid, or any other acid.

In the case of vinegar it's acetic acid bicarbonate = acetate (the conjugate base)

In the case of citrus fruit it's citric acid bicarbonate = citrate (the conjugate base)

If baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is used then then the result is sodium acetate and sodium citrate.

So supplementing with either the conjugate base or the original acid should offer similar benefits.

When the conjugate bases are in the blood they will absorb hydrogen ions (one of the definitions of an acid) recreating the original acid. As far as acidity is concerned this is a much weaker acid than the original free hydrogen ions thereby "alkalizing" the body. The body generally uses bicarbonate/carbonic acid for this buffering system, creating carbon dioxide and water as end results. The carbon dioxide is then exhaled to maintain a proper pH. Supplementing with citric acid or vinegar, or the conjugate bases of them, helps this process in maintaining things.

As far as sodium is concerned, several recent metastudies have been released that show conclusively that low sodium diets offer no benefit to otherwise healthy individuals. What was shown was an increase in stress/inflammation factors. Cholestrol, triglycerides, adrenalin, and noradrenaline were all elevated in low sodium diets. The only benefit was an extremely marginal blood pressure drop of 1% or around a 1/2 point drop. However, it should be noted that those who are already hypertensive did experience a slightly greater drop of 3. 5% or around 4-7 points depending on what the blood pressure was to start with. On the other, hand salt really isn't the culprit in hypertension. Instead the culprit is a horrible diet of transfats, low vitamin and mineral intake, overcooked/fried food, sugar, no vegetables, no omega 3 fats, etc...

[NAY]  Can't lower my blood pressure 170/70. Doctor put me on blood pressure pills 10mg Lisinopril and 12.5mg Hydrochlorothiazide, and now wants to increase the dose. My body was/is having a hard time adjusting. Right kidney has slight pain, my skin is dry, my nails have pits in them, I am slightly tired, just don't have the energy I used to.

I have tried the ACV, with Baking Soda, but it doesn't seem to help all that much. Any help would be much appreciated thank you!

I know you may not accept what I am going to say but I hope you will give it a 3 month try,,first get the book called the China Study,,this is by a scientist that did 30 years of research on food and our diseases. I suggest you try a vegan diet for 3 months,,,no animal, nothing, are you to eat,,only vegatables and only vegetables that you cook, with no oils may eat rye or pumpernicle bread or make your own with whole sugar, no peanut butter or anything with oil,,no purchased prepared food with preservatives and chemicals in it. Robert you don't mention how much of the ACV you are using daily or if you are using the raw, unfiltered ACV with the Mother. For 3 weeks now I have been using the ACV with the Mother in it, 3 tablespoons a day with water and juice and using baking soda to bring up the ph level to 7.2. Today when I went to the Dr he took me off the Lisinopril and told me to keep doing what I am doing. From what I understand sometimes you have to stay on it for some time before you see benefits but I am not sure. Hope this helps.

Hi Robert. I don't know what specific factors are contributing to your HBP but if you try to incorporate more fruits & veggies into your diet - this will certainly help you significantly. I would also encourage you to eat garlic and cayenne pepper (the hotter the better). These two sources (along with magnesium chloride) are exceptional at lowering HBP. I know because both my parents no longer suffer from HBP (especially my mother who took meds for a while). I recommend garlic cayenne because both possess some degree of sulfur and magnesium - which, when working in tandem, are exceptional at reducing the force at which the heart has to work/pump blood systemically (systolic). Cayenne pepper (which is one of my favorite herbs/spices) is mother nature's gift for strengthening the heart. Its very rich in magnesium (which helps to induce muscle relaxation, circulation vasodilation) and garlic - known for so many different things - is very rich in sulphur compounds.

NOTE: I do want to caution u that since you are taking meds - both cayenne garlic are minimal blood thinners and thus, could be a cause for concern (for you). Check with your doctor to prevent any problems.

But as for utilizing as a remedy - I would recommend to start - trying to eat 1 raw (preferably organic) clove of garlic a day. (Yikes! I know!) but it works! I would say mince it and try it in a salad or w/ an avocado. The allicin in the garlic can oftentimes be hard on digestion. Cayenne u can basically sprinkle on anything....or if you want to go for the gusto - try a 1/4 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon in a cup of hot water or tea of your choice (ie. peppermint, chamomile, ginger, etc.) w/ lemon and some honey (per day). This is how I usually take it....but if neither appeals to u - then I say, try the diet route. I think it'll be a win-win either way.

Hello - I have a question for Ted. I have been taking ACV with baking soda daily. Is daily baking soda added to apple cider vinegar w/mother the correct remedy for high blood pressure or should I drink the ACV in water without the baking soda? I've been reading about sodium in baking soda so I'm unclear as to the amount. I have been adding 1/4 teaspoon to an 8 oz glass of water with 2 tablespoons ACV. (I also brush my teeth with baking soda). Thank you.

I ended up in emergency with chest pains and BP 177/124 - took them about 6hrs a needle of some sort and 2 aspirin and 2 blood pressure pills to get it to start coming down - at the heart clinic the next the said I would have to take BP meds - maybe forever or loose 20lbs, stop smoking - so for right now I am on 2mg of coversyl - it is coming down after a month on BP med - but I took it this afternoon - 117/86 - which is good - but I tried the AVC/baking soda and re took the reading 30 mins later - 115/82 - this is great - plan to do this every evening and will monitor results - out of the gate - works great!

[NAY]  For around 12 months Ive been taking acv - 2 tablespoons with 1/4 teaspoon bicarb in a glass of water on an empty stomach before going to bed Ive also been oil pulling twice a day on empty stomach, 5 days a week for both.This has my GERD under control most of the time but my blood pressure which has been high for years, for which im on medication, remains high as does my cholestorol, this is hereditary and i think maybe in these cases, drugs may be the only answer. I don't smoke, drink moderately and my diet is quite good, i.e. i dont eat much fat........
