05/15/2012: David from Orland Park, Illinois: "I have been trying to get off Efexxor and began taking rhodiola with the hope that I could wean from the Efexxor and that rhodiola would help with the side effects. My first go, I reduced the Efexxor too quickly.

I like the effects of the rhodiola though and will continue it. Any advise for how to use supplements to reduce off Efexxor? Thanks."

IS RHODIOLA SAFE TO TAKE WITH HASHIMOTO'S?

02/25/2012: Netty9to5 from Los Angeles, Ca: "I too have suffered from Hashimoto Disease for 32 years now. You did not mention what thyroid meds you are taking... Whether natural or synthetic. What I did not know after taking synthetic meds for the first 10-15 years, is that they only have T4. You may also need the T3 that a natural thyroid hormone med includes. That would be either Armour Thyroid or Nature Thyroid. I was severely tired when I was on the synthetic meds until I read a related article in the Health section of the LA Times. After going on Armour, I felt incredibly better. Also, ensure that your TSH and Free T3/Free T4 levels are taken when tested. After losing my meds in 2009, I have both been undermedicated then overmedicated. Had severe fatigue both times.

Do you know of any reason why someone with Hashimoto (autoimmune thyroiditis) should not take rhodiola? I am trying to find out if there are any adverse side effects, but have been unable to find any info. Would appreicate if you have this info to share. I would like to try this herb as I am into menopause and have suffered from lack of overall energy which is affecting me professionally and personally."

CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN DOSAGES OF RHODIOLA?

02/07/2012: Heidi from Hillsboro, Oregon: "Hello, I just started this drug today, so will write again in the future when I have given it a chance and know how it works.

I do have a question though. Your article states @ high doses 1,500-2,000 mg rhodiola can cause drowsiness, I do not want this. The bottle I have says organic rhodiola root (rhodiola rosea) 800mg, but also says rhodiola extract (root) (rhodiola rosea) standerized to 3% rosavins and 1% salidroside 120mg. And I take 2 pills daily. I am confused, am I taking 1,600mg a day (considered a high dose) 240mg a day, or 1,840mg a day? phew lol...

I am taking this for anxiety, depression and stress. I also have HUGE insomnia, so am happy that this is suppose to give energy, so want to make sure I am at a good dose to help with all those things, but dont want to be taking the dose that will knock me out, when im already always extremely exhausted.

Please explain this to me, if you can.

thank you,

Sincerely, Heidi"
