WOULD VITAMIN C HELP SPIDER VEINS?
03/31/2007: Jayde from Pittsburgh, PA writes: "I was wondering if vitamin C would help the spider veins/broken capillaries or whatever they are on the sides of my nose. They are ugly and purple and I'm afraid my entire nose is going to get this way. My mother and my brother both have these. Is there anything else I could do? Thanks!"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Usually a vitamin C sodium ascorbate, some baking soda 1/4 teaspoon twice a day in 1/2 glass of water often helps. Rutin, flavonoids, gingko, and bee pollen (rich in rutin and flavnoids), B5 and B8 are some of the supplements that will help the spider veins. The issue could also be due to thinning of the skins, or vessel damage, where rutin, vitamin C, B5 (250 mg) and B8 (250 mg) seemed to help the most. I think natural vitamin E 200 i.u. is also synergistic, when used to apply to topically and taken internally."
05/07/2007: Robin from Belleville, IL replies: "Ladies, remember: do your research before taking rutin during pregnancy. Definitely not during the first 4 months!"
