CHRONIC SINUSITIS FOR 7 YEARS, NOW ASTHMA

06/25/2008: Bonnie writes: "I have tried everything I could find for my chronic sinusitus including ACV, allergy supplements, N-Acetyle Cysteine, Quercetin and Bromelain, MSM,even Zyrtec----I wake up couging every night-I'm exhausted, I even use Black Strap Molasses, cook with coconut oil--my basement is damp but I see no mold- I have not had any of these problems until 7 years ago- live in the same house. Now I have suddenly developed asthma- had an attack last year-- I don't smoke, never did-what else can I do? Love your site-Bonnie"

06/30/2008: Teresa from Elkhart, IN replies: "Bonnie,
I'm not sure if this will help, but I don't see that you attempted to get your PH alkaline in your list of what you've tried. My youngest daughter had horrible allergies. NAC was helpful somewhat, but when I started doing ACV/baking soda, and/or borax (see recipe on other pages), it made a big difference. She also struggles with eczema, which I believe is fungal like her allergies, which may have made the borax more useful in our case. Took about a week to see real changes. Also, I'd perhaps consider running a dehumidifier in the basement when it gets real damp. When our basement gets damp and I go down there, I immediately start to sneeze. Good luck."

07/04/2008: Bonnie (Bilbon52@aol.com) from Ravenna, Ohio replies: "Thanks for the ph idea- I started mixing the baking soda to the acv- also taking Folvic acid, and trying Reishi mushroom caps. This is the third day and finally slept all night. I do have a dehumidifier in the basement-empty it daily-may get another. I hav been taking Turmeric daily also-I'm 77-went back to work part time. Recommend your site to everyone. Bonnie"

07/24/2008: Bonnie (Bilbon52@aol.com) from Ravenna, Ohio replies: "Have 2 dehumidifiers going full blast. I finally have my sinusitis/asthma problem worked out--found the WaterCure2 on the net---someone called me right away and set up how to do it--it was amazing-guess I was mostly dehydrated-I had everythng on hand put a few grains of sea salt in my hand touched it to the tip of my tongue--waited-drank 8 oz H20--had other things I did also-but thank God I have slept two nights in a row-no coughing,no sinus drainage-no headache--I plan to take a sea salt bath-hit the hay early----check the watercure blogs or Bob Butts=== Bonnie"

6 YEAR OLD WITH SEVERE MAXILARY SINUSITIS

06/19/2008: Valerie writes: "Hello. Our son Max is six years old and he was diagnosed with severe maxilary sinusitis about five weeks ago, with moderate to severe frontal and ethmoidal sinusitis. We believe he has dragged this condition for a very long time. The pediatrician, ENT and allergy specialist have all blamed the symptoms on Allergies! Yet not one physician has ever bothered to have a CT scan done ... after all these years of complaints of headaches, dizziness etc .... It finally took Max to have a good fall at the YMCA on the temples area, for me to propose having a CT scan and it revealed the sinusitis. Mas has now been on 5 weeks of antibiotics. I do see a little difference, especially after a long period of swimming, and that's about it! Nothing has drained though, and he has the same symptoms. Friends from South America have told me that they have boiled fresh Eucalyptus in water, and would inhale this ... heavy drainage would occur right away. I also read though that a high concentration of eucalyptus can affect the brain and cause dammage. Would you recommend ACV for a six year old? It does seem more friendly. The sinusitis has greatly affected his speech, schooling, socializing, he always seem nervous, irritated. I just would love if it would all drain at once so he can find relief and live a normal and happy life. Thanks, Valerie"

06/25/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Apple cider vinegar won't harm child. Mine didn't like the taste of 50/50 ACV/honey but they sure did take their share of it. As said before both ACV and honey have antibiotic qualities and the honey also has anti-allergic qualities. The only caution with honey is never give raw honey to infant less than l year old. Another thing to remember is make sure that the honey is produced within a 50 mile radius of where you live (this gives pollen collected for honey from the plants where you live). I think it works it's anti-allergy activity by desensitizing with local pollen.

Another thing that may hasten drainage and healing (works for me) is obtaining the little plastic containers of normal saline like
the ones used in nebulizers, but don't bother to buy the nebulizer, as the best way to use them is to twist little top off and squirt 1/2 of contents up each side of nose. Be sure you have tissues and a good place clear nose/throat when you do this. This can be repeated every hour, if necessary.

Another thing I have done with ACV is putting one tablespoon in vaporizer water. If you don't have vaporizer, you can do the same with stainless steel pot or empty juice can and bringing to boil on stove. I do recommend that you don't use aluminum pot for this. This has your whole house smelling of vinegar for awhile but vinegar is known for removing other odors.

When looking for allergies that may have triggered this by swelling and congestion in the respiratory tract/sinuses, especially look at any exposure to perfumes, colognes, after shaves, paint odors, highly scented bath soaps and such. If you have a lot of those hedges that are blooming now, I despise these darned bushes because their nauseating scent when blooming, make a lot of people sick from allergies.

If this is year round problem, once you get his sinuses opened up, you might want to consider putting him on benadryl to keep the problem under control. You can get the generic tablets of diphenhydramine Hcl. at Sam's Club for less than $5 for 400 tabs. If he has trouble swallowing a pill the liquid comes in 25 mgms. per teaspoonful. You might want to try the liquid first, starting with 1/2 tsp, but don't be afraid to increase to 1 tsp. if needed, unless he is unusually small for his age. My kids were started on benadryl when our elm tree bloomed and kept on it kept on it until the trees leafed out good. Our goldenrod budding was my cue to restart in the fall and it was continued until the first killing frost. Voila! No more spring and fall allergies with all the respiratory problems and earaches, discomfort and doctor bills that accompanied the allergic reactions that caused the congestion in head and chest. The only downside of this is our family doctor's income probably dwindled considerable but looking at it from our side, it definitely was a plus anyway you looked at it.

You will have to observe closely to find his triggers, but it sure pays off when you idientify them, and it probably will be more than one. I always tell people to beware of anything you can see or smell in the air, which covers cigarette smoke, all of those mentioned above, room deodorizers and hairspray. You are probably already aware that sudden onset of sneezing is a heads up alert to exposure to an allergen.

Valerie, you are probably going to be surprised when you see his nervousness, irritation, socialization, speech problems improve
when you have a well child on your hands, instead of a chronically sick one. The speech problems probably come from decreased hearing from congestion and fluids in ear canals, and getting the allergy under control should correct it."

LECITHIN GRANULES VS. SOFTGELS

02/23/2008: Anonymous writes: "Are Lecithin granules better than softgels?
"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Lecithin is necessary also for acid reflux, and fighting against virus. Lecithin dissolves the lipid enveloped viruses too. In general a Lecithin granules are much more effective than the softgels because they are oil free and makes the body easier to digest and more bioavailable. You can prove this to yourself: dissolve softgels in a glass of water, after you squeeze out the lecithin. For granules, try to do the same thing by dissolving in a glass of water. In first case, the softgels, if it contains gums and oils will very likely not dissolve, while the granules are, after you stir them in both cases. Therefore lecithin granules are more easily digested and avaiable by the body to absorb quicker. If a granules, at least one tablespoon a day before meals. This should help the availability of nutrients. The body whose acid reflux has poor ability to absorb nutrients and hence are in constant need of food to maintain health and if hungry will get sick again. Hence this appears that nutrition or digestion is impaired preventing bioavailability.

A granulated Lecithin lowers the cholesterol of LDL, but not raise it. The problem concerns the use of softgels lecithin, which contains oils that has gone through heat and this RAISES cholesterols. Most vegetable oils heated to high temperatures raises cholesterol LDL - the bad cholesterols.

As to the sinus problem there are certain remedies that were really suprising in getting results. Four are especially noteworthy:

1. BHT 1500 mg' x 2 times a day. This one cured my chronic sinusitis once. It doesn't require to take it for many days, after four or five days of taking it, it goes away.

2. Sodium Ascorbate vitamin C 1000 mg x 3 times a day. This one cured my father of sinusitus after suffering for more than 10 years of sinusitis.

3. Sea Salt. 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt in 1/2 glass of water. Single dose. The dose might be taken again on the next day. So maximum of two dose should remove MOST of the sinus problem. I learned this the hard way after experimenting with a bad doctor's advice, I found the opposite to be true. It's not drinking more water helps the sinus, it's adding the sea salt that helped greatly. Most people on organic diets have very high rates of sinus and post nasal drips because organic foods are lacking in sodium.

4. Peppermint oil. Often I take 2-4 drops of peppermint oil everytime there is this sinus irritation coming. Often I combined the sea salt and peppermint oil together. It seems to work best in synergy.

Those are the major remedies. However there is one cause I have identified that seems to be common too, which is the fungus, found in carpets and moldy houses. The use of H2O2 nebulizers, or spraying the H2O2 1% to clean or disinfect the house. Removal of carpets and rugs is required. Using a 1%-3% hydrogen peroxide sprays on into the air is important too. A nebulizers a good concentration is 1%-1.5% to help with the breathing.

If any additional remedies is needed, then vitamin A 25000 i.u., and vitamin E 200 i.u. which should cover the other things not covered here.

Finally and most important, is the gallbladder or gallstone problems that might occur with some people of acid reflux and fungus issue, if the thing is NOT going away yet, here are some more things I will try:

1. 1/4 teaspoon of borax plus 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in one liter of DRINKING water. Borax is antifungal by the way.

2. 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate (washing soda) plus 1/4 teaspoon baking soda. This is done just to alkalize. If gallstone is indicated, I will use the next one and not this one. See no. 3.

3. If gallstone is a problem, I prefer to use 2 tablespoon of lemon juice plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water. Citrates reduces blood calcium so this should reduce gallstone buildup and reduce in size overtime. Of course this may require to take it three times a day.

It MUST BE NOTED that sea salt is extremely important since this is how the sinus detox and get rid of bacteria. If sea salt added is working, the drinking water should ba added with sea salt all the time. If it's not working that well, then I will add 30 drops of 3% food grade H2O2 hydrogen peroxide in one liter of drinking water.

My take on chronic sinusitis, is that the body may be low in sodium, so sea salt is needed to reduce some chronic sinusitis. I view that sea salt and peppermint oil as the most important of the chronic sinus remedy, with occasional suprises coming from BHT and vitamin C does work, but it takes about a month. Lysine in case its viral sinus. If I catch cold easily or get sick easily then I might take 50 mg of zinc gluconate for 5 days in a row and stop, just to raise the immunity level.

If I forget anything, ask."

EATING AFFECTS SINUSES

02/21/2008: Anonymous writes: "What is causing sinus problems, nose and ears before eating and goes away after eating?"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "It appears the body is lacking in certain amino acids necessary to fight off the virus or bacteria. I might try L-lysine 600 mg x times a day. If not, then Tyrosine and Glutamine are another amino acid I will look over."
