Borax Cures and Health Benefits

Joint Pain

Initial Positive Results 3 weeks into Borax as supplement.

I have had bad joints since I was about 6 years old. Many times I would told my Surgeons that I had the right knee of a 90 year old man when I was 12 years old. Constant pain since about age 6. I have used every supplement for joint health you can imagine with some improvement but never remotely as promised. I even used DMSO through high school to allow me to play sports and get through the pain and it worked but at a high cost! The odor and skin irritation and constant taste of garlic was terrible on everyone in my family not just me. I had recently tried odorless DMSO mixed with essential oils and it was helping some.

So I decided to try boron. I started with 1/4 teaspoon of borax in a litter of water every day. At some point I just forgot to take the DMSO and did not notice I was not in constant pain. 3 weeks in my rh knee which has had surgery just stopped hurting. My left hand just stopped hurting. My shoulder pain just went away. I started to have diarrhea after the 3rd week so I went down to 1/8 of a teaspoon a day and the diarrhea has gone away.

I have had low Vitamin D reading fore years and even taking Vitamin K and 25,000 units of D3 a day I was unresponsive for years. So now that I am taking the Borax I will check my next set of labs which will be some months out and see what we see.

My Mom and Dad have many of the same issues with Vitamin D and joint issues. I have introduced them to Borax so we will see what we see. Oh I am 44 years old and played sports and ate well all of my life. My joints are well documented with X-Rays and MRI's and I have complete lab workup about 2X a year. I will keep track of any changes and let the site know what else changes. I have more health issues than I care to have at 44 years old so if I see any improvement I will let everyone know. I am very excited about the possibilities.

I agree the drugs I was taking for rheumatoid arthritis almost destroyed my mind.

I was taking Leflunomide 20 MG and Prednisone, this combination was a nightmare for me. Now I drink Borax and also drink Marshmallow root tea and I feel so much better my fingers are no longer swollen and the stiffness in my shoulders has improved after only 1 week.

I have a friend who can not take borax at any dose, even a few grains of borax will result in intense itching that lasts for a day or two......possibly an allergic reaction, but borax is not doable for this person. Failing the borax, she tried using boron which started to help her arthritis, but within days of starting on boron supplementation she started to become depressed......the type of depression where you don't want to get out of bed or do anything. She tried decreasing her dose to just 3 mg per day and the depression persisted so she stopped taking it for a few months and tried again, only to return to that depressed state, so she stopped taking boron altogether.

As far as drinking distilled water always, there seems to be varying opinions on that idea. Here is what Dr. Mercola has to say on that subject, suggesting that always drinking distilled water may harm you in the long run and result in early death. I would tend to agree with his findings.

ART,,,,,,,, glad you have chimed in on the dangers of distilled water. What folks need to understand is that distilled water is a powerful solvent because the hydrogen bonding has an affinity for all positive minerals. It will leach them out of your body. Not overnight, but over a period of time.

I have written about this years ago and got beat about the head and shoulders. Thanks for your input.

Allow me to thank you with all my heart for such an exhaustive page on Borax.

When my new born son as an infant had thrush in his entire mouth the allopath paediatrician prescribed some dark violet coloured liquid to be painted with a brush inside his entire mouth.

In India , those days there was no Internet.

Among Indians the tendency is to accept whatever the allopath says as gospel. Sparing you all the complications that followed soon. His thrush was not cured however.

Eventually a Homeopath prescribed Borax in potentized form. Which got rid of this thrush miraculously. Many women suffer from candida infection. I believe it is this candida that manifests as thrush in our babies.

Thank you once again & all the others who have responded with pertinent queries & feedback.

I've been taking 1 teaspoonful twice daily of a concentrated solution of one teaspoonful of borax to a litre of water and supplement this with magnesium. I usually put my dose into half a litre of cold green tea which I consume during the morning, and do the same in the evening.

I noticed an improvement in my general health after a few weeks and a great improvement after a few months. My claudication has improved greatly and my mind is so much clearer. I am 70. My mobility has also improved greatly. I've had no adverse effects from borax.

I've just added boron as a 'must have mineral', having been ignorant of the wide ranging benefits toward wellness.

So much 'good stuff' seems to hide in the shadows of plain sight all around us, and one day, a light is shined on the subject, and it it immediately becomes a 'no brainer' to act upon the info, reaping unexpected rewards for one's effort to stretch further.

Boron's exactly that for me, changing my life in a wink...

...because, now I DRINK my footbath water.

(I mix up a fresh batch, no double-dipping for me)

Gee whiz! Whoo-da-thunk it? What's next?! ?

(urine therapy?! ?) Who knows...?

Thanks to all who contributed comments here.

Has anyone noticed themselves feeling as strong as a mule?

Just wondering...

Fluoride Poisoning

Boiron USA makes a homeopathic borax tablet which can be purchased at most healthfood stores (some of which didn't even know they had it). It comes in a tiny plastic tube and can only be marketed to cure canker sores per FDA. I have found it in a 30C and 6C version. I am currently taking the 30C version at three micro tablets per day for flouride poisoning and will post results as they happen. Stay healthy stay strong.

--------------------------------------------

08/05/2010 Update:

After 3 days on Borax microtablets for flouride poisoning I have a few things to report:

First and foremost was an amazing side effect that I didn't expect. I have experienced what I call "floaties" in my eyes, these are black hazy spots that move when I move my head, that I have had for years and are now gone. After day one my vision was a little blurry, but after day 2 no more blur and no more floaties. It wasn't till after day three that I was really shocked. As I was driving to work I passed a sign that I hadn't been able to read for years and I read the sign. I immediately called my wife and read to her all the license plates of the cars in front of me, which I haven't been able to do. Finally, I could make out the pine needles on the pine tree in my back yard, yet another pleasant surprise. I did experience some extra joint pain and it definitely fired up my kidneys but both subsided after day 2. I did experience the testicular pain and found this was probably due to the high levels of sodium in the area which flouride tends to bind to easily. Boiron recommends using product for only 3 days at a time and I am currently on a break. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who's flouride levels are high.

I started drinking 1/8 tsp to a liter/quart of water today.

I have autoimmune issues, including low thyroid, and the past 2 years have been fighting with rosacea which seems to be caused by mites. Mites increase when the body is stressed and immune system down.

Anyway, as weird as it is to say I'm drinking laundry detergent :), 20 mule team Borax from the laundry aisle for $4.97 is what I am using.

I created a paste of borax and hydrogen peroxide in my hand and used it on my face.

Better But With Side Effects

For a long while now, my skin has been dryer than I think it's ever been in my entire life. I suspect I have some vitamin deficiencies (and/or thyroid issues) I need to address to get to the heart of the problem; but in the meantime, I decided yesterday that maybe I should start taking a little better care of my skin that I've been doing, so I decided to try washing my face with borax.

I had read about the many benefits of borax a couple of years back but didn't decide to try it until now. I was hoping it'd help exfoliate and perhaps even aid in fighting off any fine lines or wrinkles I'm beginning to develop (I'm 27); and though it's too early to tell with the wrinkles, I can say for certain that not only has exfoliated and made my facial skin extremely smooth and baby soft - but it has also unclogged so many of my pores! I still have some blackheads; but I suspect that those, too, will be gone, so long as I continue with the borax.

Before I get into what side effects I'm experiencing today, I'd like to also add that this morning I test exfoliated a patch of skin on my upper arm that's covered in dry skin and keratosis pilaris, and holy cow at the difference! There are still red spots (however, I'm interested in seeing if they'll disappear with continuous use), but I can't remember the last time anything ever made the skin on my arms this smooth!

Anyway, so that's all of the good things I've noticed in a two day period of time; but there is something has me a bit concerned - and that's that after using the borax on my face again this morning, I noticed that my usually clear, spotless cheeks were covered in red splotches and teeny, tiny little bumps!

(Side note: This isn't totally uncommon for me, as much of the time, when I wash my face with just about anything, it tends to bring out similar kinds of blemishes but in much lesser amounts - so I do NOT think that what I've experienced today is the result of an allergic reaction.)

At first, I was a bit horrified, lol. I wondered if I had over-exfoliated my skin. Perhaps two days in a row is a tad much, but not only that ... maybe I had scrubbed too hard (which feels very easy to do with borax)? Or maybe my skin is purging? But if purging is to blame, then why, in less than an hour, did most of the irritation subside? My cheeks look ALMOST clear again! So... where did those itty bitty bumps go, and what were they? I don't think they were blisters; they didn't look anything like blisters, and I think some of them even had little white heads on them. (Gross, I know.) How could my skin just reabsorb them in such little time?

I'll let it be known that I do suffer from an overgrowth of candida, and I'm curious if that may somehow have something to do with all of this. Like, is the borax sucking any bad "yeasties" out of my skin? Haha, I don't know! It didn't itch or anything, and I'm just making guesses based on things I've read; but I am really hoping that someone out there might be able to tell me what could be going on with my skin. Thanks! :-)

UPDATE (6/8/2015): I haven't used the borax on my face again quite yet, as I thought that'd be a bit too soon, considering I may have over-exfoliated yesterday. I've kept it moisturized with coconut and castor oil; and before I go out or if I start to feel too sticky, I simply rinse with water. I haven't needed to wash with borax or reapply any oils since yesterday morning, and my face looks so soft and dewy - I love it! The only thing is that my face looks sunburned! ? It doesn't hurt or itch; it feels and looks completely normal and even healthier than usual, other than the redness. Might anyone know what could be causing this? Is it the over-exfoliation alone, or is it some other side effect of using the borax?

Borax and Gut Flora
Posted by Bill (San Fenando, Philippines) on 06/16/2014

Hi June...I'm afraid that I cannot give you any real research evidence on whether borax kills good microbiota in the gut or not -- I have looked at the research and their isn't very much on borax. But that's probably because the drugs companies don't really want you to know about how effective borax is against both mycoplasma and fungus.

What's more, I've been using borax water regularly for the last 8 years or so and it has never made me feel ill (even when I used it against my candida). So if you want my own opinion -- because that's all it is from my own experience with borax -- I would say that it doesn't kill good gut bacteria.

We've been using 1/3 cup of Borax in a large hair conditioner bottle--filled up the rest of the way with water. It's easy to use in the shower because it has a pump. My sweetheart has a bald spot that's been bugging him and 10 days ago he decided he would start using the Borax for shampoo and Apple Cider Vinegar (diluted) for a hair rinse.

Today he trimmed his hair and we noticed ALOT of hair on his bald spot. I haven't been checking it because I didn't want to jinx anything or bring attention to him using an "alternative" remedy.

It is really working!! Thank you ever so much for this site. I refer to it often.

I have to tell you I am quite shocked. I've been doing 30 mg worked up to 110 mg a day of borax past few months. I started it for my 2 knee arthritis which it has helped I still have pain but it's not the light me up screaming pain when I move it the wrong way. It's also helping my Candida overgrowth which I'm overjoyed about. But what really sets borax apart for me is I haven't read this from anybody yet.… Are you ready for this? Skin tag Yep that's right. I never get skin tags but about 10 years ago I got a skin tag in a private area. And it was a good quarter inch long. It's been there like I said for about 10 years. Well two months into doing the Borax and guess what the skin tag is almost all gone from taking borax orally! I am so happy this stuff is amazing I'm doing 110 mg and I am a woman, but this is a treatment dose, sure I will end up with the maintenance dose once everything feels better.

I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatique and other co issues. Eliminating my Candida overgrowth that I've been fighting for 20 years is just a blessing. This stuff is amazing I started my own Facebook group to give people support we all talk about how great it's been using borax thank you for all you do we use a lot of your videos to encourage people. I just haven't found anybody talking about borax and skin tags again this was orally, I did not apply it to the skin tag that's what really trips me out. I bet if somebody put it on a cotton ball and held it on their skin tags it would work even faster! God bless keep up the good work.

Dr. Mercola is wrong. I've been drinking 1 1/2 gallon a day since 2014 and after 4 or 5 days I started to get a pressure headache, which was a detox symptom. After 18 to 30 days I had more energy. He also said it will leach minerals from your body, it will but only the bad ones, not the ones you get from fruit and vegs.

Mold??

TED'S Remedies and Borax saved my Life, that's for sure. I used 99,9 percent clean Borax available in France / Germany. Borax fixed in a timeline of 6 month most of my physical problems. The biggest Issue was a heart problem which I didn' t noticed in the Past but Borax fixed it! I had noticed this "micro or nano operation:)" when its getting "warmer" inside! The Heart. This was very nice expirience:). The same feeling I had with jaw pain (because of an old but already fixed cyst). Borax fixed an "Tennis Elbow" and somerhing behind my Eyes, too. And something in my right leg. But in this case It was really "hot" for 3 seconds. I dont' t know what it was. But before taking Borax I noticed "Red Points" at the right leg. ALL these operations took approx 2 minutes together!!

For your books. I took approx. 1g borax (1/5 teaspoon) in hot Coffee:) half a year but the "fixing moment" was very early in the beginning. Thank you

Mouth Sores

A dilution of Borax in water worked beautifully on curing my daughter's mouth sores. She had cracks in the corners of her mouth for a few weeks. I applied herbal balms and kept them clean, but they just weren't going away. Then I checked earth clinic, my favorite site, and someone mentioned that its a fungal infection. My lucky day!! Because I know Borax knocks out fungus like no ones business. And it didn't disappoint this time either.

So I just diluted Borax in water, about 1/4 cup of Borax in 8 oz. Use warm water and stir until most is dissolved. Sometimes you're left with extra borax crystals and that's ok. Now you use this solution on the corners of your mouth 2-3 times per day, or anywhere you have a fungal infection. Just saturate a cotton ball and dab on. Don't rinse off, just air dry. It may cause drying. You can use a nice herbal salve or whatever to moisturizer. I also recommend applying borax to any fungal infection for 5-7 days after the sores have cleared. Fungus is a tricky beast. You gotta kill every last bit or it'll sneak back in..

Well that's it! Seriously, try this remedy for yeast and fungus. You won't regret it. And nothing to be worried about...Borax is less toxic than table salt if swallowed. Its a useful internal remedy too, but that's another subject matter. Good luck!

Borax should be taken with a Magnesium supplement of 400-600mg per day. This helps the effectiveness, as well as minimizing the side-effects.

If you are unsure how much boron you are receiving from borax (sodium tetraborate, sodium borate, sodium tetraborate or even disodium tetraborate).

Here is how you figure it out:

Borax is: Na2B4O7.10H20

The atomic weights are:

Na = 22.98976928, B = 10.81, O = 15.999, H = 1.008

Therefore:

(22,9897*2)+(10.81*4)+(15.999*1*10)+(1.008*2*10)=381.3625 approx.

Total Boron is 10.81*4=43.24

Boron factor is 43.24/381.3625 = .11338

Boron factor is .11338 so the boron percentage is 11.338%. So regardless of how much volume of borax you use you need to weigh it and multiply the total weight of borax by .11338, this give you how much boron you are receiving.

This brings back memories of high school chemistry. ;)

I think borax (drinking and external use) is the answer for all my skin problems.

ringworms, moles, seborreic dermatitis scalp and skin, all over, for 20 years. Losing hair, small red dots (not itch under skin I only can get a rid pinching with a needle and blood come out) if I dont pinch it with the time become a mole when is raise or frecke when is flat.

I tried ACV, Ammonia, Bleach, Sea salt, Magnesium, H2O2 3%, Castor oil, Sulfur soap 10%, Salysilic Acid 5%, GFS, Essentials Oils.. with not luck.

A week ago I found the Borax and started to drink, take bath, wash my hair, and spray a borax solution in my body and face a few time a day. Burn a lot the first 3 days, the skin get red and dries but after 3 days you can scrub with same borax and death skin peel.

Moles getting smaller, ringworms drying and peeling, hair and scalp, clean and new hair growing, red dots, drying and small, every part of my body is better.

The burning heat , itch and purple skin I had when I walk I did not feel yesterday. So glad this fungus is going away, still taking GFS and next week will start Oregano oil internaly.

Just want to Bless Ted and thanks my favorite web site EC

Hair and Scalp

i've been using borax for a hair wash too. i've used it a couple of different ways - 1 teaspoon in a pint of warm water stired and poured on wet hair, then rinse with water - followed by a 1 teaspoon of ACV in a pint of warm water; rinse again with cold water - and i've used it saturated - which means i put about 1/2 inch in a bottle and filled it with warm water, shook it, and let it sit until no more borax would dissolve (they will be some white crystals which is ok) (then used the same as above) - and i really couldn't tell the difference!!!

both methods leave my hair very full, shiny, smooth, soft - better than anything else i have used!!! before this i was using soap bars which started leaving white residue in my hair when our water quality changed. this is not a problem with borax!

it does seem that the saturated solution may be more prone to 'build up' which means that my hair wasn't quite as shiny (still shiny though) as with the less saturated solution - but this could be because i'm only using ACV to rinse - 1/4 teaspoon citric acid in a pint of water is supposed to be a better rinse - but i have yet to find any and love my ACV rinse. also i like the idea of using less borax since i use it for my laundry and other things.

the other wonderful thing borax has done for me is i have a rat named eric who has always had itchy skin!!! i have tried everything - VCO rubs (to kill mites - he hates VCO) - olive oil, ACV, neem soap, etc. and while some of these work the itchies always come back when it is cold and dry.

the last time this happened he was chewing his skin off and i was desperate and decided to try the borax.

i put about a tablespoon or so into the sink and filled it with warm water and soaked him and massaged his itchy spots. then i rinsed him with plain water.

immediately he stopped itching! he was able to sleep all night that night and has been better since. i have only had to do it once more and it has been a few weeks!!! this time i made sure to get it on his head and this has worked even better.

and rats often suffer from a respitory illness called myco - which seems to me to be similar to pnuemonia - and suprise of suprises! eric's breathing is much better after his borax baths!!! he is an older rattie and has allergies - and while i don't think he has active myco - most ratties do carry myco and they can come down with it if their immune system is compromised.

hope this helps someone! my rattie boy now has much energy and is acting like a young rattie again in spite of being almost 2 years old!!! :)

also my bf has had athletes foot for ever. i finally gave him some borax and he wet his feet in warm water and just scrubbed them with the borax granules. he says his feet haven't itched since he did this!!! and if they do he now knows what to do!!! this is funny to me because he was initially very afraid to use borax LOL

borax rocks!!! YAY!

I used Borax to releive the itching and irritation from a yeast infection. This was the advice of my gynocologist. I have done this several times and had immediate results without having to use messy creams and sepositories. Take one teaspoon of 50 mule borax and combine with about 2 & 1/2 cups of warm water. Mix together until the borax is dissolved and put in a douche bottle or bag. I found that the bag works best because you can do this in the shower without a lot of effort or cleanup. Douche away at the first signs of the yeast infection. I would only have to do this once a day for about 2 or 3 days. It's natural, safe and effective. Borax is also found in lipsticks and lip gloss. I think it's been given a bad rap for years because it's cheap to produce and when used properly, won't cause any other diseases. If no one had any diseases, how would the pharmaceutical companies make their money?

Borax for arthritis pain and hair growth

I am 70 years old, and take no prescription drugs, and am a 0+ blood type.

I had a bakers cyst, torn meniscus and severe swelling and pain in my right knee for several months. The Dr. wanted me to do a clean out surgery under a general anesthetic. I instead went to a Chiropractor who did three sessions of a laser and 2 weeks before that I had started borax, doing 1/4 teaspoon in water daily. My knee is perfect now and also 2 knuckles on my right hand that have hurt for years is also gone, and much fewer body aches, also my hair is coming back in after a lot of hair loss.

My friend told me about borax and how it helped her brain function so I researched it, found this site and started taking borax daily in very small amounts. Once a day I take only 1/2 teaspoon of the borax solution. Borax solution = 1 teaspoon of borax in 1 liter of water and I take 1/2 teaspoon of that once a day instead of the 1 teaspoon that most people take. It is wonderful. I am clear headed, clear thinking, more energy. The only issue I have is that it makes me feel very emotional and I wonder if this means it is affecting my estrogen levels or another hormone? I can handle the emotions, but have not yet figured out if this means I should take even less borax solution a day. I am female in my late 30s. Anyone with experience or knowledge, please chime in.

In reply to Jeanette (Québec, Canada),

You say that you mix one teaspoon of borax in a litre of water and then take only a half teaspoon of this mix per day. There are 405 one half teaspoon doses in your liter of borax solution or more than a year of daily servings. A teaspoon of borax on my digital scale is roughly 4 grams or 4,000 mg. Divide this number by 405, the number of servings from your one liter bottle of borax solution to find out what your daily dose of borax is. 4,000/405 = 9.8765 mg of borax per day. Borax is 11.3% boron which is thought to be a main active component that has the antiarthritic effects. So you would multiply your daily dose of borax, roughly 10 mg and multiply by .113 to find out how much boron you are getting per day. This comes out to 1.13 mg of boron per day.

Dr Rex Newnham who is thought to be one of the research pioneers who helped establish the effectiveness of boron for arthritis said that some people could get by with a maintenance dose as low as 6 mg of boron per day once they had achieved remission or great improvement.

Ted on the other hand recommended 1/4 teaspoon of borax for men and 1/8th teaspoon for women per day. Assuming an 1/8th teasppon of borax is 500 mg, you would multiply this number by .113 to see how much boron is in an 1/8th teaspoon. 500*.113 = 56.5 mg of boron per dose.

For myself, through trial and error, have determined that Ted's dose for men is my minimum effective dose at 1,000 m of borax or about 110 mg of boron per day.

Are you certain about the dose and bottle size you are taking to see benefit?

I ask because, had I read your post before others and decided to try borax at your dose or even double or triple your dose, I would have come to the conclusion that borax does not work for me. I wouldn't want someone to miss out on the potential benefits of borax because they used an ineffective dose for them. I fully agree with the idea of starting low to make sure you can tolerate borax or boron, but once tolerance is determined, proper dosing per individual is very important!

Judging by the percentage of negative results on Ted's regimen, and the positive results my family has experienced, I would say it's probably safe to assume this dose is too high for the average person.

My family hast been taking only at most a 1/2 tsp in 5 gallons of water daily - there are 4 of us - we put it in our 5 gal dispenser along with some other minerals (favorite being Himalayan pink salt for its 88 minerals). My husband and I are over 50 and have no aches or pains caused by arthritis or rheumatism - and we have had our share of bone injuries in the past. Can't say it has helped the Candida on my part, I could probably stand to up the dose from here. This is the dose I started my husband and kids on and no problems at all - good benefits I can see. I hope you will try this to get your daily Boron, just start low, low, low. Good luck and God bless!

My husband has severe RA. Would not take Borax for the life of him. I started giving him a little more than 1/8th tsp in his hot chocolate about 5 days a week. I started this just shy of a month ago and he is so much worse than he ever has been. I can't tell him why, but I know that the symptoms will most likely be gone in a couple more months. But seeing him in pain like this is killing me... I am really scared the pain won't ever go away. He drinks coke everyday, it is like he is addicted to his soft drink... He drinks some water also, but has to have a couple cokes a day... He also has a severe heart condition.
