I'll start by saying I was skeptical about taking Borax-but after reading many of the posts here & on other sites-I decided to go for it. I figured worse comes to worse, I'd have an excellent cleaner!

Anyway-I was looking for something to help w/Hidradenitis Suppurativa-which is basically cysts in your armpits, sometimes in groin & under breasts. It's horribly painful & can be embarrassing-especially when they burst. Doctors have no idea what causes it either & is treated w/tetracycline-a strong antibiotic or biologics &/or incisions & draining them.

That doesn't cure it-they come back. And no one should be on tetracycline or biologics all the time!

I started taking 1/8 of a teaspoon dissolved in a bit of warm water right after breakfast.

I started it on Monday-today is Saturday & the cysts are all gone! I'm shocked it worked so quickly!

I'm also an insomniac-I have been since I was a kid-& w/in a couple days I was falling asleep easier & staying asleep! I've been able to go off a couple of OTC meds I was using to fall asleep also in just a couple of days!

I also have fibromyalgia & usually have a flair up a couple times a week-but not this week! I'm knocking on wood that I don't have any more of them-but even if the flare-ups are just lessened it would be great news for me.

FYI-I didn't really have any herxing & I'm hoping I don't-but regardless, I'd continue taking this amazing mineral.

Thank you, Ted, for spreading the news of this natural medicine! You've literally changed my life!

i've been using borax for a hair wash too. i've used it a couple of different ways - 1 teaspoon in a pint of warm water stired and poured on wet hair, then rinse with water - followed by a 1 teaspoon of ACV in a pint of warm water; rinse again with cold water - and i've used it saturated - which means i put about 1/2 inch in a bottle and filled it with warm water, shook it, and let it sit until no more borax would dissolve (they will be some white crystals which is ok) (then used the same as above) - and i really couldn't tell the difference!!!

both methods leave my hair very full, shiny, smooth, soft - better than anything else i have used!!! before this i was using soap bars which started leaving white residue in my hair when our water quality changed. this is not a problem with borax!

it does seem that the saturated solution may be more prone to 'build up' which means that my hair wasn't quite as shiny (still shiny though) as with the less saturated solution - but this could be because i'm only using ACV to rinse - 1/4 teaspoon citric acid in a pint of water is supposed to be a better rinse - but i have yet to find any and love my ACV rinse. also i like the idea of using less borax since i use it for my laundry and other things.

the other wonderful thing borax has done for me is i have a rat named eric who has always had itchy skin!!! i have tried everything - VCO rubs (to kill mites - he hates VCO) - olive oil, ACV, neem soap, etc. and while some of these work the itchies always come back when it is cold and dry.

the last time this happened he was chewing his skin off and i was desperate and decided to try the borax.

i put about a tablespoon or so into the sink and filled it with warm water and soaked him and massaged his itchy spots. then i rinsed him with plain water.

immediately he stopped itching! he was able to sleep all night that night and has been better since. i have only had to do it once more and it has been a few weeks!!! this time i made sure to get it on his head and this has worked even better.

and rats often suffer from a respitory illness called myco - which seems to me to be similar to pnuemonia - and suprise of suprises! eric's breathing is much better after his borax baths!!! he is an older rattie and has allergies - and while i don't think he has active myco - most ratties do carry myco and they can come down with it if their immune system is compromised.

hope this helps someone! my rattie boy now has much energy and is acting like a young rattie again in spite of being almost 2 years old!!! :)

also my bf has had athletes foot for ever. i finally gave him some borax and he wet his feet in warm water and just scrubbed them with the borax granules. he says his feet haven't itched since he did this!!! and if they do he now knows what to do!!! this is funny to me because he was initially very afraid to use borax LOL

borax rocks!!! YAY!

In reply to the long thread on borax side effects and measurements here: https://www.earthclinic.com/borax-remedy-for-arthritis3.html#arthritis_124826

I have used it for 2 Years, 1/4 tsp Borax in a liter of water 5 days a week. No bad effects, but Gout, Joint Pain, Body stiffness, skin Spots, mental clarity, vivid dreams, 2x Hearing, Hearing came in three weeks, joint pain a week, Gout hasn't returned, dreams 4 weeks. It is a life thing because foods are Boron deficient, synthetic fertilizers grow crops. Chicken fertilizer is best so I'm trying thing in my garden, land not been in production before. If I take a break, body stiffness is the first effect to return. I'm 57.

I recently found out about the benefits of boron... as we know it, borax, and was very impressed with what I found out. As with most trace elements, we must be sure to consume not more than our bodies can handle. With this being said, I am a vegetarian, consume as much organic vegetables and fruits as possible, and try to stay away from processed foods/junk foods. I drink between 500ml-1l of water with 1/8 of a teaspoon (0.625g) of borax dissolved in the water. It has a slightly metallic taste, but after a while it goes away... I wonder if it is possible that since my boron levels have increased, my body doesn't notice it as much? (Question for anyone with an answer). I noted that a lot of people say they cannot ingest the borax, causing indigestion, nausea, etc... I don't think that all the sites mention that borax is a base with a pH level of around 9.5. When that mixes with our stomach acids, it may render the acids unable to properly break down our foods for further digestion. I prepare my water for evening consumption, and I don't space it out and I have had no ill effects to date (I've only been taking it for two weeks, and I can't tell you how fantastic I feel) I skip days as well... My cognitive function has improved, my mood is to die for (crap, no more crabbiness, lol)... my joints feel well oiled, and no aches and pains...I am a fairly healthy, active 54 year old and has since developed energy to start lifting weights, getting back in shape... my oomph is back. Another incredible think I noticed was that my skin has improved totally... I never had "bad" skin, but most noticeably are my hands... It is very cold where I live, and usually in the winter months, I suffer from dry hands (not cracked, just dry skin) and my hands are soooooo smooth and soft! No hand cream, no oils... I have put nothing on my hands. Any cuts heal quicker and my appetite is balanced...I am not craving foods, or anything to replace what my poor body has been missing: boron. The regulator of minerals. A superb building block essential for normal, healthy function of living things. Just make sure you take the required amounts & remember it may affect your digestive acids...so my tip, if it works for you, is not to drink it just before or after a meal...I am waiting at least 2.5 - 3 hours after my last meal.

Hi. I am addicted to this site, and I've found many helpful posts. So, I wanted to quickly respond to the amount of Borax to use for hair and scalp. Obviously, I'm only speaking from my experience. I use a palmful of borax (2 or 3 TBS.), which I rub into my scalp. I rinse it out and then clean my hair, as normal. At the end, I use a final rinse of 1/8 C Borax mixed in 1 Liter of water (I keep the solution in a rinsed plastic soda bottle). I do not rinse out this mixture. I, then, dry and style my hair as usual. Since the first application, I have no longer suffered with an itchy, flaking scalp. It's been wonderful!

I have just completed my first 3 weeks on borax. What an amazing supplement. I started with the 2 mg solution (1 teaspoon of borax in a liter of water). The first day I took just 1 teaspoon of the solution. I felt a slight sinus pressure in my forehead within 10 minutes of drinking the solution. It was very distinct but not uncomfortable. I also felt emotional the rest of the day! I am in my early 40s by the way.

I kept it up, 2nd day I took a teaspoon in the morning and a teaspoon at night. Same thing, more emotional than usual, pressure in my forehead. But the 2nd day is when the amazing things started to happen. My dreams became more vivid and my sleep more restful. I had a GIANT increase in energy. My joint felt less creaky and achey. I kept up the borax solution, but started to increase it on my 2nd week from 2 teaspoons of the solution a day to more like 5 teaspoons a day. Yes, definitely felt an increase in libido. My heart feels stronger (weird thing to say, I know, but true).

After a few weeks of feeling great, no side effects, this week I decided to try 1/16th teaspoon of borax in a litre of water and drinking the entire litre during the day. No side effects to report, but after doing one liter for 2 days, my body just didn't want any more borax. The thought of drinking it made me go "uggh, no!"

I have now taken 3 days off and will go back to my lower dose borax solution on Monday. The older I get, the more I will need. But low dose seems right for me now.

Years ago I picked up a small book of old timey cleaning recipes from the 1900s. In the last century before there was store bought bottles of cleaning concoctions people made their own products. Women with the long hair used Borax Water to clean their hair very efficiently. The recipe I use is 1 cup of Borax to 1 gal of very hot water. Let it sit for 24 hours and shake it occasionally. Use only the water from this jug to wet your hair and just squeeze through, don't scrub. Rinse throughly and if needed do a vinegar rinse to clean any buildup.

When you are low on the borax water I add water and/or borax to keep the level right in the jug.

I hope this helps.

Hi. I just wanted to tell you how I've been taking my borax and how its helped me. I've been making a fruit smoothie which I drink through out the day via a thermos and just been putting the 1/4 teaspoon of borax directly in it.

What I've noticed is my back pain, leg pain gone. Other things like hormone issues great again but I've had a mastoid ear infection since I was a child. Been on many antibiotics, tried everything even had a mastoidectomy done with cholesteatoma removed and nothing had any good effect till I started using borax in my smoothies with vit. C.

I wanted to let you guys know and thank you for the great info and the fact of the matter is that without the info my infection would still be here and once again thank you.

Borax for arthritis pain and hair growth

I am 70 years old, and take no prescription drugs, and am a 0+ blood type.

I had a bakers cyst, torn meniscus and severe swelling and pain in my right knee for several months. The Dr. wanted me to do a clean out surgery under a general anesthetic. I instead went to a Chiropractor who did three sessions of a laser and 2 weeks before that I had started borax, doing 1/4 teaspoon in water daily. My knee is perfect now and also 2 knuckles on my right hand that have hurt for years is also gone, and much fewer body aches, also my hair is coming back in after a lot of hair loss.

I've been taking 1 teaspoonful twice daily of a concentrated solution of one teaspoonful of borax to a litre of water and supplement this with magnesium. I usually put my dose into half a litre of cold green tea which I consume during the morning, and do the same in the evening.

I noticed an improvement in my general health after a few weeks and a great improvement after a few months. My claudication has improved greatly and my mind is so much clearer. I am 70. My mobility has also improved greatly. I've had no adverse effects from borax.

Started using this mix for 2 doses. I dissolve everything in the flask first before pouring it into a large mixer bottle filled with clean filtered water or distilled.

I usually just put a few drops(2-4) of the nascent iodine into the mix. Amazing effects after first use. They are killing us with fluoride and it's in everything. Healing is absolutely possible.

I have been taking Borax for almost 5 years now. As long as I take with 400mg magnesium at least 4 days a week I am pain free as far as arthritis. I am 55, and need not hormone replacement therapy.

Also bathing in Borax and Epsom Salts is amazing for skin. 3/4 cup of each. I fill bath with water filter shower head when bathing.

My friend told me about borax and how it helped her brain function so I researched it, found this site and started taking borax daily in very small amounts. Once a day I take only 1/2 teaspoon of the borax solution. Borax solution = 1 teaspoon of borax in 1 liter of water and I take 1/2 teaspoon of that once a day instead of the 1 teaspoon that most people take. It is wonderful. I am clear headed, clear thinking, more energy. The only issue I have is that it makes me feel very emotional and I wonder if this means it is affecting my estrogen levels or another hormone? I can handle the emotions, but have not yet figured out if this means I should take even less borax solution a day. I am female in my late 30s. Anyone with experience or knowledge, please chime in.

Hi Everyone that reads this,

I've been using the Borax and Water for shampooing my hair for well over a year now. It's kind of hard to get use to in the beginning because it does not foam up but it does get slippery. I am 48 years old, with naturally curly hair, and it is always tangle free and smooth, not dry or oily at all. My one fault is I use a lot of hairspray to keep my hair in place for the day, but the borax and water keeps any buildup from occurring due to the hairspray. I thought why stop there, why not use it all over like a body wash, it's cheap, easy an all in one kind of thing. I can shave my underarms and legs with no problem because it is a slippery solution and the razor just glides on through. I do not have dandruff but never did to begin with so I don't know if it would help with this condition or not.

As far as measurements go, that's hard to say because due to the size of container you are using. Just simply go to the point of saturation, and if there is still some crystals from the borax in the bottom, so what no big deal.

Peace, Rena.
