Betaine Hydrochloride

Hi again everyone, I have had gastric reflux for six years for two of those years I lived on salmon and cous cous, that was all I could eat. Recently though my life has turned around, I realised through this website that I had low acid. The ACV worked but not enough to make a huge difference. I have also had accupuncture which I think has helped.
But one day I had indigestion as usual and I tried a clementine, within a few minutes I started to feel better. I started to eat them after main meals which prevented any symptoms from coming on. I would also take them to work and have one if any symptoms came on. Then I tried Betaine Hydrochloride which has made such a difference to what I can eat. You can only use Betaine Hydrochloride if you know for definate that its low acid and you shouldn't try if you think you may have an ulcer. If fruits like oranges or lemon alleviate your symptoms then it might help you.
I hope so. Dee

Actually toradol is also very hard on your stomach and my doctor would rather give me a slight narcotic than toradol. So, anyone with acid reflux should stay away from it.

for acid reflux and heartburn, try eating a teaspoonful of plain yellow mustard by its self.

I am a 22 year old male and I have being struggling with acid reflux with sometime now. I have found that the cure for this disease is very simple. all you need is two eggs, two slices of bread and a long glass of milk. that's right just scramble some eggs with just a touch of salt and stick it between two slices of bread and wash it down with a large glass of cold milk and your cured, you will sleep like a baby.

To: E. S. From Gulf Shores, AL; Just curious, did your symptoms start shortly after any military service or vacinations? An earlier post said his started right after a flu shot. The first time I remember having any reflux was during the gulf war right after we received all of our vacinations. I also experinced food getting lodged in my throat and having to vomit so I could breathe during this same time. Wondering if there is a connection.
Cell Salts

I had acid reflux during my first pregnancy and had some relief with over the counter alkalizers. This pregnancy I didn't want to alkalize my stomach acid so I can digest effectively - but I still needed some relief. My naturopath recommended nat phos, the cell salt (also called SP or sodium phosphate) which is working very well, at least as well as antacids without the worry of poor digestive side effects or aluminium additives. Be sure to chew the tablet, or dissolve it in warm water.
Bentonite Clay

Used Medicinal grade Bentonite clay for acid reflux, works within a few sips. Get a small bottle of water put in a teaspoon of bentonite clay (PH is 9.1) shake hard so it disolves in the water and take some sips. You will notice within the second sip the acid starts to calm down. A note; People with bad acid reflux have trouble sleeping, magnesium gets depleted when acid is on overload, a few sips of bentonite clay before bed you sleep like a baby. Magnesium has a 'calming' effect for the mind and the physical muscles. There is magnesium in bentonite clay.

★☆☆☆☆WARNING!
I have suffered from Acid Reflux for years and took the "purple pill", which helped my symptoms most of the time. In May, I was rushed to the ER with horrific stomach pains. After a colonoscopy, upper GI, barrage of blood work, it was discovered that I had pancreatitis. Very strange since I don't fit the profile for the disease (don't drink, gallbladder removed, healthy diet). My chiropractor told me to research the purple pill and imagine my shock when the possible side effects of the pill was PANCREATITIS - of which there is no cure!! I immediately went off the pill and found your site while looking for a cure for the acid reflux. I am hoping the ACV works! If anyone is on the purple pill, BEWARE.

Ive lived with acid reflux burning for over 25 years and tried so many over the counter and medicalprescriptions and nothing seemed to help. I was on the computer some time back and came upon a testimonyial about a person who found a certain apple that cured his acid reflux and wanted money to get the name of apple. I thought it was a fluke just wanting money but began buying differant types of apples off an on none of them helped. While on a vacation trip my wife bought some jonagold apples and I sliced it up and ate little slices thru out the day. Im quite amazed at the affect these apples have done in releaving the pain i've always had in sturnum area. Its six days now. Its like a miricle. IM wondering if anyone else with similar pain could also get such fantastic results??? please let me know. P s. Ive tried the acv with baking soda remidies and not much help for me and I about gag when I use them.

Lisa, I had similar problems as you mentioned. I had a colonoscopy done, but specialist did not find anything. My family doctor said that I had acid reflux but I could not afford the medicine and he prescribed one from over the counter. Since new technology and doctors' knowledge did not find the reason of my symptoms I decided to stop all medicine (I do not recommend this in your own, talk with your doctor first) and test which one was making me ill.
I found out that a medicine for diabetes was causing stomach and back pain; fatigue; depression; constipation, and other problems. I asked to stop all meds for diabetes and gave me insulin if I needed any medicine. I had to find a doctor who was willing to change from pills to injections. Three months later, my stomach problems were gone and I stopped taking any medicine for diabetes, but my stomach kept bleeding every day constipated or not. I made a drink with cabbage and water. I blended half of a head of cabbage with 2 cups of water, let it rest for 30 minutes, and ate the top mixture during the day, three table spoons every three or four hours, until I ate the whole mixture -- I did not drink the water or juice below the mixture. I drank this mixture for three days between meals or 15 minutes before meals.
The book of raw fruits and vegetables juices and drinks by William, H. Provides a list of juices that could help with many illness and stomach problems with back pain is one of them. Do not stop asking and looking until you get what your body is asking to recuperate. Also, try the water treatment based on a Japanese theory, which is working for me to get rid of many problems caused by my stomach problems.
Good luck to you!

@ Lisa I agree with Bill & Joyce. I too was given medication to reduce my acid & that only made it worse. The acid made me cough constantly. My customers thought I was a smoker & kept trying to persuade me to quit smoking but I don't smoke! LOL
I would cough so badly that I threw up 2 or 3 times a day at work. The burning pain was dreadful. I really wanted off the pills and onto something that worked! Came to this site and tried the ACV & it worked beautifully. I took it faithfully with each meal & the acid attacks stopped as well as the coughing. Then I became a bit lax & took it less frequently & the acid came back. Just recently bought another 1 gallon jug & it's back onto my regimen of 2 tsp in 8 oz water three times a day.
Ditch the pills & try the ACV. You won't be sorry. It will help, just give it a fair try.
Linda :-)

Lisa, the posts about too LITTLE acid are probably right in the stomach acid department. What I am referring to is general acidity of your whole system. For that, alkalizing will slowly get to the root of the problem.

I have been suffering from acid reflux for many years; I came across your website and tried the pure cherry juice as well as the acidophilus pills. I ran out of the cherry juice and can't comment on how well it worked but I can tell you that the acidophilus has been working; I was taking it at night after my meal and was sleeping without a problem. I'd recently taken a few generic pain relievers and coincidentally or not my acid reflux returned; I'm going to carefully monitor when I take it and how I feel from now on.

I have LPR (Larngopharyngeal reflux). I drink 4 oz. of Aloe Vera juice each morning on an empty stomach. I am able to eat anything I like, without heartburn or indigestion, which also curbs the LPR created by the acid reflux.

I have long suffered from stomach problems and acid reflux. I stumbled on a cure by accident. It is called the Lemonade Fast and is apparently pretty ancient. I just wanted it for an easy fast and cleanse. Into 10 ounces water, mix in 2 Tablespoons good grade B maple syrup (for minerals) and 1/8th of a teaspoon cayenne pepper. Sounds awful but actually it gets to be quite delicious. You want to drink 6 to 10 of these a day and any other water or mild herb tea like peppermint. I did the full 10 days, way too long, but what I noticed was that not only was my ulcer cured but gum disease seemed to be cured too. They must be related. Eileen

I tried the ACV with baking soda remedy. Didn't do me much good. What I have found helps more than anything is a teaspoon of raw honey after each meal and before bed. And drinking LOTS of water.

I suffer from severe acid reflux, and I was starting to cough much at night and at times during the day. I read on your very useful web site, about some one suffering from severe coughing [her name jill A. posted on 5/2/2006]. Well what I think got me almost rid of the coughing was this remedy i got from a book: fresh purple cabbage juice [10-13fl. oz [300-400ml] --sip it daily on an empty stomach [you can toss it in the blender with 10-13 oz. of water to get the juice out]. The book said to add also a hand full of fresh basil, marjoram, and/or oregano, which I did. I also used the jelly of aloe vera leaves, before every meal and before going to bed [chew on a small portion or blended as a shake and drink it].
Now the other thing I was going to talk about was the metallic chemical taste in the mouth that Robin from Apalachicola--or something like that--Fl. [posted on 2/11/2006], felt once she took a PPI drug [nexium--i believe]. I also have felt that taste before after having tried one of those ppi's poisonous drugs. I think it may be caused by an allergic reaction. I did not get the black tongue she mentioned though. But those drugs i believe to be dangerous since my severe reflux was caused by nexium itself, believe or not, but that story I cannot get into yet.
