Here is an easy and fast remedy for bacterial vaginosis, which is relatively harmless but very smelly 'down there'. Simply put some virgin coconut oil in and around the vagina. The smell will be gone within hours but keep it going for a few days to make sure the infection is gone.

Oregano Oil

I have suffered back and forth with BV and Yeast Infections for the last 6 years. For years I did the yo-yo between meds, never thinking to try a natural cure. My last BV infections was 2.5 years ago and I, for the first time used a suppository made of boric acid, coconut oil and probiotics. I used it for 2 wks and it healed it. No issues, no yeast/bv yo-yo. Fast forward to August 2017....

I got another BV infection. Once I felt it come on I immediately started using a tea tree oil tampon. My boss had told me she's used that before and it worked wonders and it was much easier than the more messy suppositories. I used that for 3 days, per her instruction. After that I still didn't feel ok so I went to the Dr to get an actual diagnosis to make sure it wasn't yeast. The Dr confirmed it was BV and sent it to the lab. I went home and did the tea tree for 7 days thinking maybe it wasn't long enough the first time. I just dropped about 10-20 drops on a light tampon and inserted it and changed it out every 8 hrs. While I was doing that the lab confirmed it was a mild infection. After the 7 days of tea tree tampons I did my 14 days of the boric acid, coconut oil and probiotic suppositories just to be on the safe side. When that was done I was sure it must be gone but 48 hrs later I started getting symptoms again and feeling a little feverish. Back to the dr I went. She confirmed the infection was still there and still mild. I told her I was not taking an antibiotic and she was totally supportive. She suggested 3 wks of straight boric acid at night. I got capsules and filled them with boric acid and inserted one in the morning and at night for 3 wks. I felt better for a bit and then didn't toward the end of the 3 wks which was also my period. I was also drinking ACV at 2 tbsp 2x a day and that didn't seem to be helping either.

My diet is already very clean. I am on a modified GAPS diet where I drink homemade bone broths, only organic/grass fed meats, organic eggs, organic veggies, no sugar, no chemicals, no preservatives, no grains. So there is not much I could attribute or change in my diet.

I came back onto earth clinic and found the posts for Oregano Oil. I've heard it's awesome as an antibiotic and have other friends that have used it for other kinds of infections. I did some more research and decided to give it a shot. I decided to attack it from a couple angles this time. I got some Wild Oil of Oregano Oreganol. You can find it at Whole Foods or Amazon. Amazon is cheaper. Get the regular strength NOT the super strength. Not all oregano oils are the same so research them well, there needs to be a high level of carvacrol.

I started taking it at 6 drops a day 3x a day in water. AND I created suppositories using organic coconut oil, 4 drops Oreganol and 4 drops DoTerra tea tree oil. To make the suppositories I took a 1/2 tbsp measuring spoon and solid coconut oil. Filled the spoon and made a little well in the center with my finger. I put the 8 drops in the well and covered it with more solid coconut oil, wrapped it in plastic wrap (or put in a sandwich baggie) and put it into the freezer for 20-30 minutes. Inserted it in the morning and at night. You must wear a pad when you do this. During the day you can change it to a panty liner once you're sure all the stuff has leaked out. You will smell like oregano oil but not so much that people with notice, just when you go to the bathroom you can smell it.

I did this for 4 wks just to be on the safe side. I definitely felt better after the first 2 wks but I didn't want to risk it coming back. I did it from one period straight through to the next one. This time when I period hit my symptoms didn't get worse. That was encouraging.

I went to the Dr again yesterday and he said my swab looked completely normal. I am a little irritated on the outside and he prescribed a cream to help with that. Not sure if that is from the oregano oil or just from 3 months of BV. Either way I was so relieved it was gone I almost cried.

2 months ago I also started oil pulling again so I am not sure how much that helped. If you don't know what that is you should research it. It's an ancient healing practice, keeps your gums super healthy (even if you don't floss) and helps to remove toxins, bacteria, yeast and all bad stuff from your body without removing the good stuff.

I know EXACTLY how I got BV, unlike some others. I took a double dose of monsitat for a yeast infection a year ago because like an idiot I though it would work faster. Wrong! I got BV forever. I did the doc and antibiotic thing and the probiotics and douche and everything known to man kind but the only thing that work was vit.D3! I mean I'm alllll cleared up! I still take folic acid, acidophilus, and chlorophyll (only in summer when I.sweat like a beast) but the vit d3 is the only thing that worked. I take 3 or 4 a day. I got the idea from this site. So happy!!

Hello ladies, I have been suffering from BV for years off and on. I am now 35. I have tried everything but nothing has worked. My doctor even gave me on- going prescriptions of antibiotics to try and assist me with my constant complaints of odor and discharge. Some months I have had to wear a pad everyday to help keep myself dry. The winter months are not as terrible as the summer months. I have limited my activities, and started not to attend gatherings, or wear dresses, tights, or do anything that might expose my problem. In the summer months it is quite unbearable. I just found out about this site from my drs nurse. I'm so glad to know that I am not alone. After researching, I decided to use the Apple Cider Vinegar. I've been using it for three days now and my smell is completely gone. First day: mixed 2 tablespoons of ACV with a full glass of water and drank. That night mixed 10 ml of ACV with distilled water in a douche bottle and used. almost immediately I could tell a difference. The second day I did the same. Today, I drank the same mixture, but I increased my ACV in the douche mixture to 15mL and also soaked in a tub half way full of water and added two cups of ACV for 20 mins. ( just enough to cover my vaginal area) .The smell is completely gone. I plan on continuing this regimen for seven days. The 2nd week decreasing to four days and then every other day For the third week. The last week just once Or twice. I'll sit in the tub with the ACV twice a week from now on.

Please mix the ACV with water always And gradually increase in your douch mixture slowly. Because it can have a burning sensation.

In addition to doing this new regimen, I also take acidophilus 4 billion live cultures, zinc, folic, acid, and vit B12 every night. so far, I feel great and my confidence is coming back. Thanks so much for this site. I'll keep you posted.

Borax

I want to share my experience with Bacterial Vaginosis.

I fought the symptoms of BV for six months using the best probiotics available (50 billion organisms) at my local health store. I applied coconut oil with tea tree oil mixed in to the outside and inside of my vagina. I reduced the smell but still experienced constant discharge and varying degrees of odor.

I finally visited Planned Parenthood and they tested me on the spot for Bacterial Vaginosis. I tested positive. they gave me antibiotics which temporarily got rid of the infection. I took exactly as directed but the infection crept back in that same month. So this is when I went into serious research mode and found some information on the internet about a Borax treatment.

Now this is the amazing part I want to share with you: I put a quarter teaspoon of borax into a rubber douche bag filled with warm water. I took it into the shower with me and rinsed my vagina out thoroughly with this simple solution. I could smell foul water coming out of me and it felt very cleansing but I had little expectation that one application would make much difference, however that one application, in conjunction with those awesome probiotics completely resolved my issue. Three months later I sensed another flare-up so I immediately made myself the borax/warm water douche and I have never experienced another symptom again. This treatment had ZERO side-effects. It's been almost a year since that last treatment.

What an embarrassing and lengthy struggle with such a simple, cheap and easy solution!!!

Hey everyone!! WHAT A MIRACLE! I just wanted to tell my experience with these two! I have been battling BV off and on for four years. My body is very prone to infections and so yeast has always been a big issue with me. For the past couple years it's been both yeast and bv. I came across this site and found complete hope! I prayed that this was the answer. And it was! I diagnosed myself this very last time. I could tell by a slight odor, occasionally I would feel irritated, the discharge, and recently I was so irritated and red that I broke out into blisters. (This wasn't an STD, bv/yeast can cause blisters when left untreated and I was diagnosed with bv by them before) so anyways I immediately went to the HEALTH FOOD STORE and grabbed Acidophilus. The REFRIDGERATED 14 billion count LIVE bacteria. It has about ten different strands. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Refridgerated probiotics. It's worth the money. I honestly don't believe it would work if it was shelved. So I took one pro-b in the morning and inserted one vaginally at night for about a week. I started juicing and somewhat followed an alkaline diet. Bad bacteria feed off acidic foods so stay away from most acidic foods as you can! So important! IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT FOODS ARE ACIDIC, GOOGLE IT. Your vagina naturally fights off infections but if it is weak it causes your vaginal ph to rise. Anything above a 4. creates a breeding ground for bad bacteria. I abstained from sex with my husband for about 3 weeks while treating. I started taking folic acid 800mg and a vitamin b12 after a week of treatment. It's been three weeks and I only take one to two probiotics everyday and do not have to insert one vaginally. ALL my symptoms are gone! Probiotics are so healthy and a life saver! I only used folic acid to get me completely out of the loop. Use your best judgement on when to stop/start taking probiotics/ FA. I took b12 because folic acid has a tendency to deplete this vitamin.

*some very helpful tips I also do to prevent bv from reoccurring:

DO NOT WASH YOUR VAGINA WITH SOAP! I don't even wash with ph balancing soaps. None work for me. Wash with just water! And do not wash inside! Sounds gross but It's really not! My vagina has never been so clean!

DO NOT SLEEP WITH UNDERWEAR! Vagina is naturally warm and moist. Wearing underwear to bed also creates a possibility for reoccurring bv/yeast

BUY UNSCENTED BABY WIPES! These are AWESOME! After intercourse I clean up and also make my husband clean up with baby wipes. He is uncircumsized so bacteria easily hides in he skin folds on his penis. So I make him wipe very good before and after. Also, I use them after each bowel movement. Just to be safe! Sorry if TMI

TRY NOT TO WEAR TAMPONS! I know ladies, pads feel like diapers, but even if you wear a tampon for the heavy days and change FREQUENTLY and on the lighter days use pads, that will help. Use pads when you sleep! Many women don't know that tampons mess up the vaginal ph. When we menstruate, our ph rises to 7.4 because that is the ph of blood. So when we place a tampon inside it is absorbs the fluids that causes our ph to rise.

If you have anymore questions I would love to help as much as I can! Don't give up ladies, there is hope!! Feel free to comment or reach my by email ariann_jones [at] yahoo (dot) com

THANK YOU EARTH CLINIC!!!

Tea Tree Oil

Bacterial Vaginosis- I've tried many ways to try to get rid of it. I gave up on medications from my physicians after I kept getting reoccurances. After trying baths of H2O2 and yogurt tampons I came across tea tree oil. If you put some on a tampon and leave it in for a few hours it seems to make the BV disappear. I would do this once a day when the symptoms are bad and once a month to keep it at bay. After doing this for a few months I've never had a reoccurance. I'm not sure if it's safe to use while pregnant though. This kills all the harmful bacteria in your vagina while leaving the good bacteria alone. I swear it's a life saver if you're dealing with BV.

After reading several posts, I stumbled across Apple cider vinegar for bacterial vaginosis. I've had it for about one year now. Flagyl worked at first. But it returned. So, I chewed a tablet of acidophilus (2 billion CFU) and put it into my vagina. Then I diluted the ACV with water, drank a full cup. That had to be nastiest thing I've ever drank in my life. I then poured non-diluted ACV some onto a cloth and a wiped my va jay jay. It's been about 72hrs. It's gone. No smell, no discharge, no nothing.

Bacterial Vaginitis: Daily, I soak a cotton ball with organic ACV while I sit on the toilet, then I jump in the shower to rinse it off, using no soaps, sprays, or powders. This has been working for the past month. I also use another ACV soaked cotton ball under my arms before I get in the shower too, without using soap or deodorant. No odor. I love this site, mannnn!

I have had BV since the birth of my daughter 3 years ago. I Have taken many antibiotics and nothing has worked. I looked on one of those websites about cures for BV and I paid 30$ for the e-book. It said to douche with Apple Cider Vinegar and to tak a probiotic pill and insert it in as a suppository into your vagina. I do this about 2 times a week at night and I haven't had any symptoms since.

I have been suffering for BV for 7 years and after several trips to the doctor and numerous prescriptions of antibiotics, my BV would not go away. I tried the peroxide douche, peroxide tampon, drinking baking soda water, tampon with tea tree oil, tampon with yogurt, tea tree soap. nothing seem to work! The smell is horrible and embarrassing, so I had to do something. I just could not be around people because I thought they would smell it . My social life as well as my personal life were ruined. I was at my wits end and very desperate for a cure or to even get rid of the smell, so I could at least get part of my life back.

I did some research and decided to try Apple Cider Vinegar (mother), boric acid capsules, probiotics, folic acid, multivitamins, eliminated sugar from my diet.

First thing in the morning, I would drink 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar (diluted with a little water). Then, I would take one probiotic pill and after I eat something I take the multivitamin and the folic acid pill. Next, I insert one capsule of Boric Acid (vaginally). I only do this before I go to bed. I also eat healthier. I eat a lot of salads , vegetables and limited fruit.

It has only been a couple days, but so far so good.

I've had this BV crap for seven years. Reason I had it so long is because I have avoided the doctor because I have a muscle disorder called vaginimus. It's where I unable to insert tampons, suppositories or even have intercourse. My vaginal muscles clamp shut involuntary. I have went to the doctors a few times in the past but they were unable to perform a pap-smear on me due to my disorder. They diagnosed me as a yeast infection and sent me home with antibiotics and creams. Later I read about BV and that sounded like what I had more than a yeast infection. I tried another pap-smear (failed again) and tried to convince my doctor that perhaps my HP level is off due to BV. I had itching, slit burning, red and swollen, white thin discharge that smelled weird. This couldn't be yeast. They sent me home with Flagyl and it hardly did anything but temporary minimize my discharge and itching for three days, I was so disappointed... :(

I decided to try my own approach. This is what has helped me more than anything else:
Take Goldenseal root capsules twice a day for a week. This kills only the bad bacteria and fungi ( if you have a yeast infection too)

Take Folic acid once a day everyday to boost your immune system to fight off bad bacteria.

Take a probotic called Ultimate Flora 50 Billion count by mouth once a day, everyday. (I also would crack open the capsule and pour the powder in my vagina. This puts the good bacteria in you. Also make sure you buy it cold at a vitamin store (EX: I get mine at The Vitamin Shoppe) and put it in the fridge first thing. It has to stay cold to keep the bacteria alive or it will not work as good... :(

Avoid sugar, bread (anything with yeast), and high carb foods.

So far I seem to be system free. I'm waiting for my period to come to see if my symptoms come back. I hasn't been a easy road for me since I can't hardly use any medication vaginally but hopefully this will work for everybody and me. Also I am getting help now for the vaginimus now. I may have to get Botox shots down there but thats another chapter. X(

I hope this works for somebody out there. This is a nightmarish infection that needs more studying.

Changing my diet to consist of mostly alkaline foods has cured my 4 year battle with BV. It is impossible for bacteria and viruses to survive in an alkalized environment. It is also important for your partner to consume more alkalizing foods.

I have been suffering from chronic BV for a year and a half! I have tried everything from metronetizole, clindamycin, metro gel, boric acid, acidophilus, folic acid, vaginal probiotics, the list goes on and on.

I finally found a cure.

It may seem like a lot, but I have been BV free for 3 months now and I cant believe it! The secret is goldenseal root. It is a natural antibiotic. I take one goldenseal root pill, 2 cranberry pills (healthy urinary tract-not meant to help BV), one folic acid, one garlic pill, and one probiotic every morning and one goldenseal root, one garlic and 2 cranberry pills everynight. I did that for the first month and have been only taking the morning set of pills for the last 2 months. I have no bv, no abnormal discharge, or cramping like I used to get! It is amazing! My boyfriend and I are finally able to be intimate without having to worry about the dreaded BV. I had a friend recommend Goldenseal root and also, when I was buying it, there was a lady that asked me if I was using it for BV and she told me it was a godsend for her! I am so happy I found this product! I hope it can help other women out as well!

Baking Soda Douche
Posted by Cindy (Dubai) on 12/09/2013

Here's a follow-up on my health. The baking soda douche worked temporarily on me and the BV came back after a few days. I have tried the warm salt bath and inserting yogurt with acidophilus vaginally with a medicine dropper but was also not successful. The method I used above might be effective with some other women but not in my case.

So I tried the 50:50 Hydrogen Peroxide & Water douche every night for 7 consecutive days then inserted yogurt with acidohilus (half of the capsule's content) vaginally for 3 consecutive days. During the H2O2+water douching I felt relief but after the insertion of yogurt with acidophilus powder it became worse. So I thought maybe I should just use the H2O2+water douche and not the yogurt anymore. So after 2 or 3 days I douched again for 3 consecutive days. I felt relief and after about 3 days from my menstruation I douched 2 consecutive days again to have a follow up. It has been a week now since my last douche after my menstruation and I still feel good. The discharge is back to normal, no more itch but there's a little more yeast that I can notice on the side of my labia at night when I wash. I think I am better now compared before. I will just follow up with a once or twice a week douching of H2O2+water to keep the BV at bay.

Again the measurement I used to be clear is as follows:

For 7 consecutive days (before going to bed)

50:50 Hydrogen Peroxide + Water douche (use 3% strength for the H2O2 - I used the 6% but reduced it to 3% by adding more water. So it was actualy like 1/2 cup H2O2 to 1 cup of distilled water)

After the menstruation, douche once or twice a week.

Througout the treatment, I've been orally taking 1 acidophilus 2 x day, 2 folic acid 2 x a day and also 2 olive leaf extract 2 x a day. I've been eating yogurt with 2 tbsp of coconut oil in the morning for breakfast and I also try to avoid sweets and alcohol as much as I can.

For the supplements above, it depends on you if you also want to take it. But so far for me it helps. I will let keep you guys posted if ever I feel anything bad after this treatment. As of now it works and I hope this would help someone out there too.

I would also like to thank all the ladies here who shared their experiences to help one another. It really meant a lot and makes you feel you're not alone.

Hi ladies. I've suffered from bv for about 5 years now and I've tried all the treatments suggested on this site, but nothing was a permanent cure. After I realized that I needed to get my pH under control, I found this water. It's formulated to balance your body's natural pH, and all you literally do is drink it! I've been drinking it for a week and since then, I haven't discharged and the smell is virtually gone!!! I've tried taking Metro gel, pills, peroxide, garlic, etc. And I was sick of putting my body through all of that. Ph Water is found at TJMaxx/Marshall's and Publix for $1.49 for a liter or $1.79 for 1.5 liters. I drink one a day, and hopefully my body will regulate itself. I hope this will help some of those out there with chronic and consistant bv.
