Hello I had bv for over 5 years and didnt reach this site until sometime last year, so I tried everything that everyone listed but it kept coming back. I went to a church service and went up for prayer sometime last year and the woman just said God told me to tell you to drink water. Now I said ok and left it alone, recently it was really getting bad and I was praying and God brought that back to my mind. So I started drinking water and didnt do nothing else that everyone else told me to do.. ITS GONE! I know that it sounds weird and its again the norm that only water would cure it but you tried everything else why not just drink water, I stoped drinking everything else and drink water all through the day and after 5 years I am free. Just thought I would give you guys what God gave me..

Any combination of these treatments can be quite beneficial in treating/battling bv. Once you find a combo that works for you, keep with it and maybe even alternate. However none it will be very effective in the long run if you dont change your diet-and fast! The candida diet is best to follow, HOWEVER, it is impossible (and very unhealthy) to avoid sugar altogether. Sugars to definitely avoid are refined sugars. Now this includes all the 'good' stuff we ladies love to indulge in. You really must do your research as refined sugars are are in more typical grocery store products than you probably think there are.

The candida diet advises to avoid fruit, sweet potatoes, etc. But after becoming emaciated I realized this was not correct either. Keeping a well balanced blood sugar level is extremely important. My strong advice is to eat as natural and organic as possible. Processed foods I.E. Canned, boxed, preserved are a no-no. Yes this means pastas, chocolates, ground meats, deli meats, sodas, moldy foods such as cheese, Alcohol, yes I said alcohol, YEAST IS A DEFINITE NO, yes this includes just about all bread. No cakes, cookies, sodas, sugary juices, if you can't pronounce the ingredients you probably shouldn't have it. I know, I know but I assure you not all hope is lost. Yes it is an adjustment and definite lifestyle shift. After much research I've learned there is a lot you can have AND ENJOY! I've learned how to make my own cakes and desserts, breads - all much much less difficult and time consuming than you might think.. And much much healthier. Elanaspantry.com has a wealth of dessert recipes that have truly saved my life (Love You Elana! ) Keep in mind, raw unpastuerized honey and agave I find are ok in moderation. I also use Earth Balance soy free butter when I must have it. Goats milk cheese (aged less than 3 months) when I must have cheese. So Delicious coconut milk ice cream (vanilla bean or vanilla mini bars) when I must have ice cream (you can also make your own) Ezekiel bread when I must have bread.

I've tried all of these "cures" and none worked for me. I decided to research the internal cause and found it to be overgrowth of yeast/candida in the colon. The colon has been found to be the main source of alot of sickness and disease in the human body. I went on a yeast free diet (no dairy/sugar/fruits/fried foods/vinegar/wine/alcohol), you can look it up online. I only ate fresh veggies/salads without meat, as it can slow down the digestion process. Along with changing my diet, I started to cleanse my system of all the old food and toxins. The old food in your colon will cause you to store unwanted parasites and toxins in your body so no matter how many acidophilus you take, unless you rid your system of the old bacteria, it will be uneffective.

I went to a local health food store and bought Psyllium Husks, which is an absorbant powder that cleanses the body of toxins and pushes out build up from your colon. I drank 3 teaspoons of psyllium with 8oz of water immediately in the morning and at night right before bed. Drink psyllium on an empty stomach and wait an hour before eating, at night drink an hour or more after eating. Drink an additional glass of water after each psyllium mixture, also be sure to drink a minimum of half your body weight in ounces of water (weigh 150=drink 75oz) throughout the day(VERY IMPORTANT, psyllium will cause constipation and dehydration of you're not drinking enough water). It is also important to take daily probiotics after this cleanse to maintain the healthy flora.

Psyllium will swell in the digestive track absorbing all toxins and sweeping the walls of the DT, forcing it out of the body in bowel movements. This is similar to a colon cleanse but it is much more natural and less expensive. You will notice that when you go to the restroom it will be in the shape of your digestive track, long and bulk.

Within 4 days my bv was gone!! It is recommended to not drink psyllium for longer than a week at a time. But the best part is that, you probably wont need to, as it is not just a temp fix like many of these other recommendations. Please research colon cleanse and yeast for more info. Continue to keep up a yeast free diet and add in only a few foods slowly, to monitor the tolerance on your system. Also dont forget to take probiotics daily.

I'm not a physician, just someone that has been through years of torture. Hopefully this helps anyone that has tried everything, like me. This is the true cure!!!

3/17/9: Been reading the new postings today. .Woman talk about BV..to take folic acid pills, a short cut would be to take a Glass of Tomato Juice.. Tomato juice is loaded with Folic Acid ..

I am an 81 year old fellow that wants everyone to be healthy and happy..been reading books ,,how to heal your self..amazing book "The Golden Seven plus One by C. Samuel West" will teach you how to heal yourself

Also one more thing..VERY healthy food.. I thought weed in my Garden, only to find out healthy, grows like a weed..has little yellow flowers. PURSLANE.. you can find a picture of it in the computor.

Alfred

EC: Purslane - yes! How strange that you should mention this. My husband's friend from Canada just told us about it last week and I was going to mention it as well... Apparently an amazing weed. Going to create a new page for it soon on EC.

I tried not eating any yeast made foods, no pasta, breads, etc and tried folic acid, b12, acv but nothing worked. The doctors I went to visually thought I had BV or an STD but the test results were always negative. I googled and found that coffee can cause BV, yeast infection, migraines, balance problems and dizziness, I had all those issues. I quit drinking coffee including decaf and caffeine products. No more BV! voila!

Hello ladies, ive been suffering from BV for some time myself. The reason for this bacteria occurrence is the pH imbalance in your vagina. I've noticed that a lot of you are recommending the hydrogen peroxide, it is a good way to get rid of the bacteria but dont over use it. It still is an acid and eventually could cause other complications because it strips away you vaginal walls. For starters what you all should do is try to change you diet. SUGAR IS A BIG NO!! sugar will prevent Lactobacillus species from growing. You should also try to eat more grain and less refined flour foods like white bread and pasta. If you have whole foods in your area or a Russian store you can get kefir, it is cultured milk and a natural probiotic. Try to incorporate kefir into your daily diet. Acidophilus will cure the infection but its up to you to keep it from coming back. Your diet is the key to keeping the pH balance in order. it took me about 2 months with just cutting out sugars and drinking cultured milk to get rid of the infection. I didnt use acidophilus or douches, just kept what i eat under control. Maybe itll help you too.

I have T2 Diabetes and get BV when my blood sugar runs rampant. The only cure that seems to work is going raw for awhile. Just type "raw foods" into a search engine. Sometimes, it only takes two or three days, other times two weeks. Yes, you can live without meat, dairy, or cooked food. And you don't have to worry about putting things where they don't logically belong ;-). The body heals itself.

I have been battling BV for about 6 years. I have tried everything. Out of frustration I decided to use essential oils to try and help. I have many and thought I would start with a few combinations and see if I can get something that works. I took a douche bottle amd added 3 drop 100% grapefruit oil, 3 drops 100% tea tree oil and 3 drops 20% frankincense. I filled the douche with tap water, shook the bottle and then used the product. I have had no signs of BV, no drying, and no itching. I used it directly after sex with my husband, my symptoms are usually much worse after that. But, again, I have no symptoms. I am hoping this works long term and if I can help anyone else who is dealing with this than I am happy.

So I have been suffering from BV for 4 months, and I have tried EVERYTHING you can think of. Every home remedy, vH essenitals suppositories (helped a little), ph-D boric acid suppositories (didn't really do anything), Flagyl (worked until I came on my cycle). I just so happen to do a sitz bath with grapefruit essential oil, lavender oil, and 1 cup of dead sea salt, and 7 cups of very warm water ( be careful not to burn yourself), and I soaked for 20 minutes...I also douched with this combination as well. In the douche bottle I do a pinch of sea salt, 5 drops each of grapefruit and lavender with water filled to the top at morning and at night. I made the mistake of doing it the first time with 20 drops of grapefruit oil, and lets that was a big mistake lol. I'm still doing it and it is working so far for roughly 5 days now...So hopefully this helps.

I'm recently dealing with BV and wanted to share the treatment that my MD, who is also a naturopath, prescribed: purchase a natural sea sponge from the health food store (I found them at whole foods being sold as "cosmetic" sponge), then cut it to tampon sized pieces. Get the highest quality you can find of Thyme and Frankincense essential oils and mix 2 drops Thyme oil 4 drops Frankincense oil in 10 drops Extra Virgin olive oil. Soak up the oil with the sea sponge (after you washed it thoroughly with antibacterial soap- the water also makes it very soft) then insert. Leave in for 2 hours, 2 x day. Repeat for 7 days.

I looked up the medicinal uses of these oils and they are for bacterial infections, inflammation, and regulating female hormonal system. I suspect that the hormone imbalance is the real root of the BV. It is working for me with 80% improvement after 4 days - though I think I will get the boric acid capsules and better probiotics tomorrow. I have also done a few days of alternating tea tree oil suppository and probiotic inserted at night but the oils are the only thing I have been doing consistently.

It sounds like you have urine leakage with the wetness and urine smell. You can do exercises to help with that and also give up caffeine. In some cases, there is nothing you can do about it. It's just a part of life for many women. Especially as they age or after having children.

For BV, wrap a whole peeled clove of garlic in gauze, insert at bedtime, and remove in the morning. Depending on how bad my case is one night will usually do the trick. If it's bad I will put a slit in the garlic and repeat for several days til better.

I have been suffering from recurrent BV for almost 3 years now, I am 23 years old now so I started getting it at the age of 20, I've visited many doctors, gynecologist, urogynocologist and they have all tried to help w medications but my body is so sick of it that I just get BV the moment I'm off the medication. I've had the most 3 miserable years of my life, suffering, crying about it, asking God for help, seeking natural treatments, changing lifestyle.. Done it all, I've changed the soap (I use organic baby soap), tooken probiotics (50mil), I've done it all, and I decided to try what I always feared, garlic up my vagina.. Yup! So recently I was diagnosed w BV, took the meds blah blah, I got the symptoms again along w yeast, because my situation now seemed to have worsened from just BV to now BV and yeast.. Anywho, I decided to start using garlic cloves into my Vagina before bed and it's been 5 days and I only had discharge once (I'm sure cleansing it up) but aside from that, I've been feeling much better.. Still too soon to speak but I have faith that it will work.. It sucks there isn't a cure for this tragic life ruining condition..I hope garlic does the trick! Pray for me, I'll be back in the future and give more information about my journey beating BV's behind..

I'm in the process of trying this treatment now, on my third day with little to no discharge. I was just wondering how your treatment went? Did see permanent results afterwards?

I have been dealing with BV as well for quite some time. I've been eating raw garlic and it has been working when you change the way you eat, but as soon as I started to eat what I want, I've noticed the same recurring problem so now I'm off to try mixing oils in a douche to see if this make work faster this is a very frustrating thing to deal with!!!

I'm 16 and even teens get BV too! Garlic cured me! Thank You God and Jesus because he healed me too! Here is my regimen that I did everyday for 2-3 weeks . Even on my period!

Chop up natural whole clove of garlic into tiny pieces

Get a big glass of water
Swallow the entire pieces of garlic like pills
Drink the full glass of water everyday

After wards (5 hours later ) after I step out the shower cleansing myself I would get a tampon covered in natural plain yogurt filled with natural probiotics and stick it in me leave it for 2 hours and remove and rinse myself with water. - once that is over I eat a 170 Gram probiotic yogurt to help balance my ph balance I've done this EVERYDAY for 2-3 weeks and bam! BV is gone!

I still take chopped garlic as pills but every other day because garlic is a natural disinfecting veggi . And making sure to take probiotic pills with rhetui that is found in the vagina strains to keep my ph balance healthy . I prayed to God and Jesus to heal me and please help me find a cure and I did I'm cured!

God is good all the time! Well time to eat some chopped up garlic :)

This may be TMI, but I've had a very touchy vaginal ph since I started puberty. Anything could give me BV and yeast infections. Wearing tight clothes, using laundry soap, bubble bath, my diet, any kind of soap, body wash, sexual lubricant, semen, and even condoms. I also always had a yeast infection without fail right before my period. Life (especially in a relationship) was miserable! I went to a few gynos who said there was nothing explicitly wrong at all, and reccomended I cut out sugar most of the way. I did. No changes for a year. I went back to my gyno and was basically told to just 'deal with it' and keep up my usual proper hygiene.

Then my boyfriend's mom told me to cut garlic into small pieces and swallow it with water before bed. Within a few weeks, my vagina was completely tamed, per se. No more BV or yeast infections at the drop of a hat. Life is so much easier now, and more pleasant. Garlic all the way.

After searching the internet I decided that whole organic garlic cloves was the answer for BV and boy was I right! Of course I discovered the cure right in the middle of a raging yeast infection so I took drastic measures....insertion! I took a clove of organic garlic (the fresher the better you want it to be firm not rubbery) cut it in half and inserted it vaginally . Within minutes I noticed a strong garlic taste in my mouth but expected that from what I had read. Within hours I was noticing relief, the itching wasn't nearly as bad...but it did burn a little. Then when I went pee, I noticed a lot of white stuff floating in the water, like the yeast was draining out of me. I did this for two days and was completely cured...for a few months.

This cycle went on for about a year until it dawned on me that I wasn't being proactive! I started taking organic garlic capsules every day an have been yeast free for years now :) I have a friend that says she doesn't think the garlic capsules work so she just eats a clove or two every day and it works for her too! Hope this helps someone.

EC: Inserting a whole clove with no nicks or cuts will make it less likely to burn, but will still yield the same result.

Caution:

To those using garlic be careful. I inserted a whole clove in my vagina and it got stuck between my cervix and vagina wall. I have a low cervix. It worked wonders but I really had a hard time getting it out. I was going crazy thinking how I would explain to the er that a garlic clove was stuck in my vagina lol

Put the garlic inside a cheese cloth and leave a little sticking out so that you can pull on it to get it out.

I use a toothpick to poke a whole through the garlic clove. Take a strand of floss and rinse it to rid of the wax and mint flavor and then I stick the floss through the whole I made and tie it to use the garlic like a tampon just to assure it doesn't get stuck in there.

How can you tolerate inserting garlic into your vagina? I only applied it topically and couldn't tolerate it for few minutes that I run and washed out with cool water!!!!! I have faith that garlic is the cure but the burning is unbearable!!!
