BV Prevention Tips

Bv caused me to suffer for years since I was a teen. I made changes that has kept me bv free. Many women are reinfecting themselves and they don't know it. To avoid reinfection you have to kill bv in your underwear by washing them in hot water and unscented washing powder. Avoid all scented washing liquids and bath soaps. I use All brand unscented and dove unscented soap for bathing. Drink lots of Chlorophyll water and cranberry juice. This will balance the body ph. Drink lemon water warm with stevia or honey. Drink unsweetened teas and cut sugar out your diet until it's gone. Low sugar fruits are good to eat. Avoid breads and rice until the bv is gone. Douche with hydrogen peroxide and 1/3 cup of bottle water warm. I use a ear dropper for douching. You don't want to use too much water to avoid knocking out your good vaginal flora. Take probiotics and drink probiotics drinks like kumbachi tea at Walmart. Take all medication the doctor give you and make sure to get a wrap prep test regularly from doctor along with a G/C test to check for vaginal stds. Check for blood stds at stdcheck website. For vaginal stds a vaginal test is more accurate than a urine test.

Did your PH change after the insertion? I now get a whiff of sea salt throughout the day and especially if I stand outside for too long or if metal touches my skin…it's the weirdest thing and I don't know how to reverse it. Please help.

Multiple Remedies

till 2 years ago I was dealing with bv/ yeast infection every month for a very long time what's helped was drinking over 1 litre of strong ginger green tea (grated raw ginger) and one otc treatment. I was free for like 2 years, but then I got my first UTI and after couple weeks the worst bv& yeast infection ever. got rid of yeast inf quickly, bv on the contrary.

i used two packs of bv treatment from pharmacy that always helped me before, and nothing! Oregano oil suppositories, folic acid, Apple Cider Vinegar on tampon, coconut oil sup, garlic, ginger, probiotics, nothing helped when used by itself.

but then I started putting one vit C tablet 1000mg inside my vag for a night, one probiotic in vag (focus on rhamnosus& reuteri VERY IMPORTANT acidophilus doesnt work that good) 30 billion cfu for a day.

I also changed my diet, drank almost 1 litre of kefir per day (it's muuuch more powerful probiotic than any pill) added cinnamon as it is antimicrobial, no coffee, if alcohol then only red wine as it is a prebiotic in small amounts, sugar only from natural sources, one tablespoon of baking soda in glass of water on empty stomach to alkalize my body, no junk food, lots of liquids( try green tea/peppermint with turmeric, ginger and pepper very very healthy) and in general my diet was full of probiotics, prebiotics& veggies, pills like vit D or omega3. that finally cured me. I know its very complex treatment, but I think that if you're dealing with bv for a long time and nothing seems to be working you need to drastically change your diet, most of the diseases start in gut.

I'm over 2 months bv free& had 2 periods:) I decided to share this because the last 3 weeks ive been eating junk food, lots of sugar and sweet alcohol and it still hasnt come back so I guess I truly am bv free. although tomorrow im getting back to healthy diet, dont wanna tempt the fate aha.

Good luck!

Sulfur Soap

Sulfur soap is the best remedy to get rid of bad odor in your private parts. I have been using it for over a year now and have not had a problem since. The odor went away immediately. Sulfur soap is a bit more expensive than regular soap but it works wonders. You wouldn't have to spent hundreds of dollars on pills or other remedies that probably won't work. I saw an online interview with Dr. Sebi who spoke about this, I tried it and it works.

Check Your Toilet Paper
Posted by MsKris (Philadelphia, PA) on 05/23/2022

Wow!! I'm wondering if that's the issue or panty liners. I've tried the Boric acid suppositories and thought it was going away but then it came right back. I need the liners for the discharge. I also used Lume to cleanse so I'm just going to stop everything when I have several days off and try the peroxide solution. Also I'll get different toilet paper.

What do you mean by douche? did you lay down and leave the liquid up there for a while?

Borax

Boric acid is an essential mineral for humans to be healthy and is not harmful if ingested in the very small amounts suggested. A lot of times, when someone adds even a very small amount of borax, which 95% is the salt and mineral of boric acid and 5% is trace minerals. Look into it and look at this using it. Yes, boric acid is good to use too, internally also, in the right dosage. Even potassium and other minerals and vitamins pose toxicity and other complications when too much is taken.

Are you still BV free? Do you still take liquid Chlorophyll everyday?

Folate vs Folic Acid
Posted by wse34685 (Seattle, WA) on 01/13/2022

I think it's important to clarify the difference between folate and folic acid. As in my case, I have the MTHFR gene, which makes it more difficult for the body to clear BV, trich, and certain STDs. People with the MTHFR gene need to be really careful to NOT take folic acid, only folate. Alot of times doctors won't test for MTHFR when you have a persistent case of BV. Folic acid is the synthesized version of folate, and people who have the MTHFR gene have a difficult time properly using folic acid.

Bv cure

The struggle is real.
I finally found what works.
Was on a peroxide douche for two years.
Pure 3% peroxide about 10-15 cc / Per day douche . That controlled it but not totally cured.
This time, I added ten drops tea tree oil . That made a difference but still not totally cured.
Then I decided to use the organic tea tree essential oil and chose a good brand. Ten drops mixed in 15cc, 3% hydrogen peroxide.
That finally cured it! At first I seemed to develop a fungal infection, I got really thick, feta cheese like consistency. The smell is just gone, never came back. The thick diischarge
Was gone after a week. After that everything was back to normal.
I hope this helps helps someone!

Aloe in Unsweetened Cranberry Juice

Hi, thank you for sharing. Did you use aloe vera powder or gel in the juice? And to what severity did you have bv and how long did it take for it to cure?

Alkalize
Posted by TG (WI) on 05/19/2021

Do you mix the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar together and spray it right on the area and dry it afterwards? Is this something you do every single day several times a day? Has the itchiness completely gone away? Can you use white vinegar instead? Thanks for the information on this!! I am done using antibiotics, I was on 3 different ones and nothing worked. I started changing my diet, no sugar, and taking baths with 3% peroxide, and baking soda, this has really helped!! I'm also looking into doing this remedy with the ACV and lemon juice.. thanks again!! God Bless!!

Do you still drink Alkaline Water? How often do you drink it? Is your BV still gone? This is something I would like to try. Thanks!!

Yeast Arrest

Yeast Arrest (they are not only for yeast) works like a charm. Use every night for a long time then decrease as you are able. If you are post menopausal have your doctor check your estrogen levels and if you need supplemental estrogen, use only bio-identical, even if you have to pay for it ($25-$35 month). You won't regret the investment. Fast forward a couple of years, I only have to use Yeast Arrest occasionally, maybe once or twice every few months. Had recurrent BV for years, now it's been gone for about 3 years.

I just wanted to add in regard to BV, I had it a couple of years ago and it was recurrent no matter what my Dr. gave me. Finally, I ask a friend of mines who is well versed with natural cures what I should do and she simply said, "2tbsp of natural aloe vera to 8oz of unsweetened cranberry juice. Not only does it get rid of the BV, I have also found that it works well with balder infections. Pray this helps someone as it did me.

Probiotics, Hydrogen Peroxide

Hi EC family!

I just want to tell you how happy I am and thank you for sharing all your experiences.
It all started two years ago, after I got the worse uti! My pee was blood red, in so much pain. I went to the doctor and she told me to take cefuroxine axetil 2x/day for 7 days. My uti cleared but noticed that I was having bad discharge n fishy smell.

I tried everything to no avail. On and off it went. I took antibiotic upon antibiotic, no cure. Worse than ever. The smell was just revolting and I slowly lost my confidence in bed and stayed away from my partner. He was very supportive and tried his best to understand me but at times he would mention the smell and how embarrassed I was!
I do know what you all went through and how horribly clean you all are and yet this thing happens.

Thank God I read all your wonderful testimonies. I would like to share my experience in hope that it would help many women going through this.

  • I bought probiotics specifically for womens health 9.8 billion cfu, several bottles of 3% hydrogen peroxide, tampons and a douche bottle.
  • I douched at night from 50/50 mix with distlled water. Going up till I could tolerate a pure 3%hydrogen peroxide douche.
  • In the morning id soak a tampon with hydrogen peroxide and insert it as far as I could and leave it for 15 minutes.
  • I took one probiotic pill by mouth and I'd insert another inside my vagina pushing it as far as I can.

I did that for a week. I noticed that the smell slowly diminished.

On the second week I did not douche as much anymore coz the discharge and smell was nearly gone. I douched only twice a week n did not insert any hydrogen peroxide soaked tampon. I continued taking the probiotics. For the probiotic vaginal insert, I just opened the capsule got about a pinch of the powder n inserted it inside as far back as I could.
Also after being intimate, douched wd hydrogen peroxide and probiotic inserts were done.

Now I have zero discharge, no smell at all even my partner said the smell is gone! Plus my backache has gone as well. I'm not using any panty liners anymore. I'm cured! Thank God!
Ah it did bleach my pubic hair blond lol!

Check Your Toilet Paper

Years ago, after eating kefir a couple of times, I got a severe case of vaginitis. It began with clear discharge and progressed to the point of making my underwear wet, and the smell was foul. I had to use a solution of 1:5 hydrogen peroxide and water. I only sprayed it on the labia while I showered, then rinsed after a minute. It was truly miraculous how quickly and effectively it worked. But, even after I realized kefir caused it and stopped eating it, I kept getting flare ups for years, so I had to use the hydrogen peroxide solution at least twice a month. Now, during the pandemic, I couldn't find the toilet paper I've been using for a while. This paper wasn't scented and didn't have any vitamins or aloe. It was plain. So during the pandemic, I bought a super cheap paper that was also plain, then after a couple of days all of my symptoms disappeared. They did return after I began eating coconut oil for a few days, but stopped immediately after I quit eating the oil, no need for the peroxide. I was very happy to discover that it was something external causing it. I hope this helps somebody else.

Limes

BV:

I had this horrible problem for many years but recently I read that lemon water (I drink lime water) will balance your PH. I started drinking the lime water about a month and half ago but saw little to no improvement. 5 days ago, after washing my private parts with soap and water, I decided to rub what was left of the half lime that I used to make my lime water on the outside of my private part and let it air dry and dress as normal and within 24 hours all the smell was gone and it has not come back. I do this every day now. This has been a miracle cure for me after suffering for about 15 years. I urge women to try this before inserting anything into their vagina. Limes are natural and cheap and maybe you can stop buying all those expensive products that don't work anyway.

Hi guys! Love Earth clinic, for BV sleep in a tampon soaked in two to three drops of tea tree oil and 1 tablespoon of water every night for one week. Also take a 1000mg garlic extract supplement (odorless is great!) 4 times daily and a 400mcg folic acid supplement twice daily. Should be all fixed up in a week! Garlic extract can be substituted with fresh garlic, just take one clove roughly chopped in a tablespoon of water in the morning and at night for a week. This is a natural antibiotic basically, but can cause various smells and such which can be unpleasant hehe. Continue taking folic acid once a day and garlic extract once or twice daily (whatever works for you) for as long as needed/always (it's great for ya anyways) . If symptoms persist, see a doctor and get a full sex check as you may be dealing with something other than BV that could be harmful to your reproductive health xx Drink lots of water and work ACV into your diet whenever possible. Good luck!!

Liver and Gallbladder Flush

The most effective method to cure this condition is by treating the liver (and consequently kidney, since it's closely connected to liver). 100% success rate for me and I never get it again since 6 years ago. Had it 2 times in my life and used this method. What's fantastic about it is that it works immediately. (Smell is gone right after doing it, and stay gone for good unlike other methods.)

Honey
Posted by hthomps2 (GA) on 01/10/2019

How do I apply the honey for BV? What dosage? Is it external or internal? I have had issues with BV and urinary tract infections since I was 15. They went away after I had kids and now they have come back. I went to the Gyn and was diagnosed with both and given antibiotics and within two months it's back with a vengeance.

Dietary Changes

As an update. It's been almost a year and I haven't had BV yet all because I eliminated dairy from my diet. All these years of suffering and all I had to do was quit dairy. I've actually eliminated the cow from my diet. I don't eat beef or any of the cows products. I actually still enjoy sugar in my diet and it hasn't affected me at all. Good luck to you all.

I literally have been coming to this website for over 10 years because I have been suffering from BV for that long. I've been prescribed antibiotics and have tried all sorts of remedies from this website. I've done extensive research online as well regarding this condition. It's unfortunate that more research isn't done regarding BV because so many women suffer from it. I mean, just look at the amount of “remedies” on this site. It's obvious that more focus needs to be placed on this condition. BV is embarrassing, depressing, and makes women very self conscious. It's just disheartening that a solution/cure hasn't been developed. But I honestly feel that my BV has been cured since eliminating dairy from my diet. After I gave birth, I became very focused on my diet and eating a lot of fruits and vegetables and limiting the amount of meat I eat. It has literally stopped BV in its tracks. Dairy is so bad for you. People should really try to eliminate dairy in their diets and you'll see a big difference.

Monolaurin

Had a mild case going on for over a year. Boric Acid suppositories DO work, but it'd come back a week later. My Acupuncture Dr recommended Monolaurin, which is a capsule you take orally. It is the antibacterial factor in coconuts. She thought I had too much gut bacteria, so the acidopholis was fighting my gut health, and unable to make it to my female area. She told me I'd have bad stomach pain from the die off in my gut. Oh and was she right. I was drinking Pepto Bismal for a week. Then, I was fine, and my BV has never come back! Now my probiotics can get to where they need to go. I take the Monolaurin every day now. Has helped clear up my constant sinus issues as well.

Apple Cider Vinegar

I contracted BV after having my fallopian tubes removed and from then on having unprotected sex with my husband. This subtle shift changed the terrain and pH. I tried hydrogen peroxide tampons and probiotics for weeks to no avail. Within 24 hours of a wash/douche of ACV and water, the tides turned and the discharge is minimal and odorless. I used only 1/2 t. to 1 C water (yikes to the ladies using it straight!!) and this was enough to reboot my pH and system. Just that, nothing else. Truly fabulous.

Saline Solution
Posted by Anon (Not Canada) on 06/17/2020

Tea tree oil worked for me when other methods failed: Empty a gel cap and refill it with tea tree oil neat, recap the gelcap loosely, insert, and crush the gelcap open, stir it around to distribute. You may have to do it once a day for a few days. If it irritates the labia apply coconut oil there, but avoid diluting the tea tree oil.
