I went back to the doctor for the second time in a month yesterday for BV. I was first on a regimen of three different prescriptions (oral) and then yesterday was prescribed a $60 cream in hopes that would "fix me." I came home without purchasing the cream and started researching online. I sent my husband out immediately after finding this site. I did a rinse of H2O2 while he was gone to get a douche bag and could already tell a difference when he got out. I used the H2O2 and H2O solution and wow!! I felt better, smelt better and I'm hooked!! Thank you, thank you , thank you!! Today I will get the folic acid and probiotics from a reputable supplement store.

Hydrogen Peroxide douche relieved the symptoms of persistent Bacterial Vaginosis! I'm a registered nurse who is properly informed about all the different kinds of medicine available to treat BV. However,None of the medicine I took worked for my BV. I was diagnosed with BV after taking a strong antibiotic I took for bronchitis last year(In Nov 07). Since then, I have been suffering from persistent BV that won't go away with oral Flagyl, Doxycline, Clindamycin vaginal cream, Tindamex and finally Metrogel. My vaginal culture was normal because pathogenic anarobic bacteria normally lives in the vagina. I didn't have that much of discharge or fishy odor at all. My main symptoms were buring and swelling of my vagina. I was so frustrated that none of those drugs I took cure my BV. I have never had anything like this in my life! I stop having sex with my husband for months! I simply did not have desire to have sex because my bottom was hurting. My Gyn really did not know what to do anymore. Since, I'm a clinical nurse, I actually knew more about it that she was. I finally read this web-site and decided to try Hydrogen Peroxide douche method. I take multivitamin that has folic acid but to be honest, it is the Vitamin C that helps with BV than the folic acid. I douched with half HP and water for the first three days. I began to see some relief. Then I started my period. After my period, the symptoms came back again. I started the HP therapy again. This time, I used 30cc syringe filled with straight 3% HP rather than mixing with water for 7 days. I gradually started to feel better. So far, I don't think it is 100% cured yet but I have high hope that HP douche will restore the PH balance. I'll keep you guys posted of my progress.

Oh my GOD!!! It's a miracle. I can't believe it. After suffering from this monster for over 30 years and trying everything avaliable through the medical community this remedy has finally worked for me. The 50/50 solution with hydrogen peroxide and water erased the fishy odor and gave immediate relief from all vaginal irritation including the tingling sensation during urination. I decided to use 2billion probiotics along with 800mg of folic acid per day and Viola!!! IT'S GONE. I believe success depends on regular use.

I've been dealing with BV for over two years, and it is the most embarassing ailment. I can't talk to anyone about it. I used the 50/50 3% peroxide and water douche, and the smell was gone instantly. I'm also taking the folic acid and acidophilus (normal doses). So far the bog of eternal stench has not returned-even after intercourse. Even though the douche worked, I want to use it as a last resort in the future as I'm wary of excessive douching. I will post back in a week. Hopefully, my vagina will remain friendly between now and then.

'I too have suffered with bv for about 4 years now. I have been to the doctor several times for this and my doctor always prescibes metronidazole. It works for a while but the bv always comes back. I was so fed up with going back to the doctor that i decided to see if there were other remedies and I found this site yesterday. I am so very happy. I purchased some folic acid pills, acidiphilous and peroxide and I am proud to say that the itching has gone away in less than 24 hrs and the discharge has become less. I will post updates on my road back to normalcy. Thank you so much to everyone for sharing this remedy.

I tried a mixture of 3% hydrogen peroxide, 10% povodine iodine, and water. I made a douche of it w/ about 2/3 peroxide and the rest iodine. This has worked unlike anything else. I have been battling bv for over 4 years and i have taken the metrogel, clindesse, and tons of over the counter vitamins and minerals and probiotics.I have not had a recurrence and I use the douche once a month after my period. I hope this helps someone.

Exactly how much Hydrogen Peroxide, exactly how much Povodine Iodine and exactly how much Wter was used for the douche for Bacterial Vaginosis. Did it work with 1 douche?

Worked Temporarily

FL writes: "I've been dealing with an ongoing case of BV for about 6 months. I've been to to three different doctors a total of 6 times. They all prescribed the ususal stuff. After reading this website, I've been trying boric acide, probiotics, folic acid and half peroxide, half water. None seemed to really do the trick.

Yesterday I found a report from the National Institutes of Health saying that STRAIGHT peroxide (3%) (not mixed with water), used as a douche for 7 days is just as effective as the prescriptions.

Here is a link to that study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14676737 I've been doing the half peroxide-half water douch for two days, and tried the all peroxide douche this morning. I can tell the difference allready! I'm going to continue this for 7 days. I'll write back to report on how it did.

A few weeks ago I wrote that I was trying straight peroxide for BV. It seemed to work, then I got my period so I stopped. Then I had sex again, and the BV seemed to come back. I'm giving the straight peroxide another chance.

I'm curious to know if other women get BV after sex even with a condom. Or, have you tried different condoms and found some are better than others for this. I'm starting to wonder if it is the spermacide that is messing me up. Last time we had sex, my BF used an unlubricated condom, but then we had to use a lot of KY liquid for lubrication. All we had around was the "warming liquid" in the orange bottle. I have to imagine whatever stuff they put in it to make it warming can't be ph balanced!

Stop having sex for awhile. I know it's hard to explain this to your old man, but NOTHING flares up a yeast/bacterial infection like intercourse. It will never go away otherwise. It's painful anyway. You won't want it.
I got a raging yeast infection immediately after losing my virginity five years ago and been battling these infections and bladder infections since then.

I've suffered and it's been humiliating having these infections and odors along with discharge, it's so hard to make men understand about this. With alternative medicine my infections became less frequent and I can control them now, but I could never have sex every single day, maybe about 2 to 3 times a week, because my vag gets irritated, sore, and dried out, and I develop infections. That was the only way I learn to control these infections. (You can't have sex too frequently) let your vag heal, and give her a little down time.

Pam, stick with full strength 3% HP for at least the 7 days. DO NOT be lazy about it, just because the smell is gone after the 1st, 2nd day does not mean you're completely healed. DO 7 days straight. I'd say start the remedy AFTER your period. Blood is alkaline so is male pre-ejaculate/sperm and also female "lubrication/juice", that's why it comes back even with condom use. After 7 days, you should start feeling better without itch, odor, and decreased discharge. Do not have sex "OR" orgasm on your own (female juice is alkaline, it will set you back and you'll have to start from the beginning). No blood no sexual activity for the 7 days. I'm into my 3rd week even after sex and PERIOD!! My discharge is changing back to it's original consistency and texture. I have no odor whatsoever!! I actually have less of a "NORMAL" odor now than before I did the HP remedy - weird. Ladies 3% Hydrogen Peroxide works but, you have to use it FULL strength. Do washes NONE of that 1/2 and 1/2 douching. Douching IS bad for you. Ladies I wish you the best of luck with this crap of an ailment. Try this. It's working for so far. I smell like air!! Hooorayyy!!

i had been dealing with BV since the birth of my second child. I think it really came into effect after having a tampon inside me for nearly a week. so since 2005 and its now 2008 occassionally my privates would start smelling fishy... i went to the doctor and received the antibiotics, but the problem kept coming back. I was utterly embarassed. Ihad resorted to using norforms (vaginal deodorant suppositiories) and they would work but the next day... here came the fish smell. I was at wits end... i thought I was the only woman with this problem. i felt ashamed. Like i had the only stinky private area in the world. when i founc this website i tried the folic acid and acidopilis pills and 50/50 water 3%hydrogen peroxide mix... all I can say is thank you to this websites creator and the women who shared the advice. i am in tears because finally i realize that i wasn't dirty

My story sounds pretty similar to all the others. Been dealing with BV for about 7 years. Never really got rid of it. Different Doctors have tried different meds. over and over. Tried Refresh wich was ok for a couple of days. I finally got so discouraged I just gave up and figured I'd have to live with it, until I started researching on my own. Im now trying accidophilus and 50/50 peroxide and I think it might be working but then a week later I got a yeast infection ,maybe from changing my ph too much? I'm not sure

I've tried the Folic Acid 800 MCG, 3% Hydrogen Peroxide/water douche 50/50 mix, and Acidiphilus Probiotic (500 Million Organism/tablet) remedy for recurring BV. I'd suffered and suffered from BV. I didn't know the cause, my Doctor didn't know the cause. I felt like a broken record. I felt gross and dirty. I felt I was not treating this problem properly. I was going to keep shelling out money for products and medicines that were only temporary fixes. I'm DISGUSTED that our doctors don't take this BV problem more seriously. They should be recommending this natural remedy and stop filling us with antibiotics that are so harmful. THANK YOU SO MUCH(!!!) for helping not only me, but my fellow sisters in our fight against recurring BV

Hi ladies & concerned partners,

Thankyou for sharing, your combined information is incredibly valuable!!

When your body seems to be letting you down, remember your body is trying to always keep a balance in this crazy old world of "short-cut" living and eating, and unappreciated stresses.

Many people rightly seek a Doctor's opinion and care, but when the advice and treatment is not giving you the results you hoped for or getting to the source of the problem, consider seeking another opinion from a different health philosophy, such as a Naturopath. A qualified Naturopath will spend about an hour getting to know you, and asks a lot of questions to consider many aspects of your health, lifestyle, diet, emotional state etc. Their treatments aim to helps the body heal itself by supporting your systems & considers you wholistically. Herbalists, Nutritionist and Homeopaths can also be very helpful depending on your health concern. Horses for courses and all that!

Most cities have a professional listing of registered practitioners in your area. Find one that suits you. I hope this information has helped you to steer you in a new direction with your health and self-empowerment, be it for BV or other issues.
Best Wishes to you all.

I had been dealing with recurring bouts of BV for the last year. The itching was horrible and the smell was worse. I was so uncomfortable around people that I wouldn't leave my room unless I took a shower first. I would take about three showers a day. I used all the creams my doctor prescribed and used rephresh which only worked temporarily. My gynecologist told me that it was something that I had to deal with and told me to use those feminine wipes and bodywashes. That worked for about 30 minutes! So I took it upon myself to do some research online when I stumbled across this website. I read about lots of women having success using folic acid, acidophilus, and using half water half 3% peroxide douche so I decided to try it immediately. It's only been 24hrs and the smell is already gone!!! This is one remedy that I would recommend to friends and family. It really works for me and I feel so fresh and clean. It's been a year and now I can finally be comfortable enough to go out and have fun! I will post an update in a month to let everyone know if this remedy continued to worked or was temporary like the others. Good luck everyone.

i just want to say that i think we should talk about PREVENTION!!! I have been heavily drinking coffee, daily and I never had these symptoms until the last few months. I think I will drastically withdraw from drinking the coffee and see if that is part of or is the problem.

one other thing is that I think also is water intake. I notice how I feel dry majority of times. I have tried a product by the name of Yeast Guard. they have the natural douche, a gel, suppositories and pills. However, they worked while I was taking the pills and the douche for 7 days. However, when I stopped the good 'ol infection came back!! Now, I had some B vitamins with 400 mcgs of folic acid and I took one, as soon as I found out it was a remedy! I will start to resume the Yeast pills for extra measure. I paid for it, I may as well use it... right? anyhow, it doesn't hurt.

IN conclusion, please look at your diet and notice anything that you may ingest that may cause this monster to come back again, again and again and again.

the buck stops here!

Greetings Everyone... I am like many of you women who have suffered from this embarrassing infection for months at a time. Before I really understood what this was I figured it was just a simple discharge that would go away. In the beginning there were no symptoms no smell just the discharge. It eventually got worse and I knew it was a problem. Having no health insurance I just battled with it until recently when it has literally overtaken my intimacy and almost my self esteem. I seemed to be having more and more discharge everyday until last week when I decided to start my research and hopefully do something about it. After reading through serveral sites I read that yogurt inserted internerally would do the trick. So on Sunday 2/20/2011 I inserteed Plain Yogurt as instructed. That seemed to work a little as I noticed less discharge. On monday I was pretty much satisfied I felt comfortable again still discharge was present but just not overbearing tons of it. So on Monday 2/21/2011 I continued reading comments on EC and found that some women found comfort in using Hydrogen Peroxide and Probiotics so I decided to stop by the pharmacy after I left work. So when I get home this is what I did.

Prepared Hydrogen Peroxide solution:

1/2 cup of water

3 cap full of hydrogen peroxide

I used a simple medicine dropper with the bulb at the end can be bought at any pharmarcy store, dollar general, etc... I steralized the dropper with alcohol pad and begin the flush. I used this solution to flush out my vagina. No burning or itching occurred. Afterwards I took a regular tampon soaked it in the plain yogurt and inserted it into my vagina. Next I took a probiotic pill that had 10 billion live cultures in it.

I left this tampon in for approximately 2hrs. Removed it showered with Dove soap (sensitive skin) and my vagina felt extremly refreshed and cleansed. That night I slept without any panties so that my area could breath.

Following morning another H2O2 flush and then I inserted two full drops of yogurt (w/o tampon) into my vagina cleaned myself up and put on my cotton panties along with a panty liner. I took my dose of probiotics while I ate breakfast and then was off to work

This method so far has been a miriacle worker for me. Im on day three and there is ABSOLUTELY no discharge whatso ever and my vagina is getting its natural scent back. I am once again feeling extremly clean and comfortable about my hygiene.

I would recommend for chronic suffers to make a long term routine and stick to it. Just because it works dont stop treating yourself. Continue taking your probiotics, consuming yogurt and look into diet change. If you want longterm effects I believe in longterm changes. I am extremly grateful for the site and wish you all well on your ventures for a cure that works for you!!

Well, i found this website last night while searching for a natural cure for BV, that would be safe during pregnancy. And all i can say is THANK YOU!! i immediatley ran out to Walgreens and got peroxide, folic acid, acidophilus, AND probiotic. i haven't used the probiotic, i got it becuase i read it on some of the comments. i did the peroxide/water douche last night... i didn't read but a few comments that said that it hurt or stung a little... but oh my GOD!! did it hurt! i think i must've been pretty raw, because, i was nearly crying at the pain of it. i was gasping for air it hurt so bad. But i did it a second time (i didn't douche all the liduid in the bottle and figured i might as well do it all) and that time it wasn't nearly as painful. i was sitting on the toilet for a good minute with the pain i felt the first time. and i must say, i woke up this morning, and have yet to see any discharge. i also took the acidophilus and folic acid before i went to bed, we'll see how that works. i think i'm going to do another peroxide/water douche today and tomorrow to be on the safe side and continue with the folic acid and acidophilus.

i was convinced that my boyfriend had been cheating on me, becuase for a while i had a hectic schedule at work and he had his hectic schedule at work, so playtime was nearly out of the question. and when we would play, i would get the BV EVERYTIME. so i was convinced he was cheating. we were having sex maybe 1 or 2 times a month. i quit my job, and we've been seeing more of each other and this was the first infection of 2008. and the doc kept reassuring me that BV is NOT an STD. or STI.. but, i'll repost in a couple of days and we'll see how things turn out!

3% hydrogen peroxide, folic acid, and probiotic acidophilus works wonders. I tried 3% hydrogen peroxide, folic acid and probiotic acidophilus to cure my cronic BV. I had be suffering from BV for about 2 years and I tried all the medication and nothing worked. It would clear up for a few days then return with a vingance. Everytime I went to the doctor she would always insinuate the I was sleeping around she didnt believe that I had been with the same person for 2 years because Im 21 years old she even gave me medication for TRICH which I didnt need. When I came across this site I was so releaved that something natural finally worked. So to everyone out there thanks for the remedy and does anyone have any suggestions as to do you think I should use this remedy on my boyfriend

I did the folic acid, perixiode and acidoliphis (sorry for mispellig). I'm cured. I'm still taking the pills and I only douche after sexual intercourse because it trows your ph level off.
