I have a question I'm currently taking ___ acidophilous ____ and doing the h202 douche but I'm also drinking the ACV mixed with baking soda mixture, Is it true that ACV makes BV worse? I don't want to sabatoge my treatment.

I have the same question. I have BV and developed a yeast infection using the metrogel, so last night I tried the hydrogen peroxide douche but have been taking acidophilus and folic acid. Yesterday I had and ACV cocktail. Am I undoing my own work or am I on the right track?

Hydrogen Peroxide Douche cured my Bacterial Vaginosis!

Sunday, I started having this fishy odor for the first time in my entire life. I am in my mid-20s. Before then, I had never douched nor had any feminine problems down there. I'm thinking this odor came from stress, eating poorly that week, and drinking too much alcohol that weekend, plus I tried a hard liquor that I've never had before. I was thinking about setting up an appointment with a gynocologist but decided to do some online research after "self-diagnosing" myself with BV. I came across this site and decided to give it a try.

So yesterday (Wednesday), for the first time in my life, I douched. My mother had this a summer's eve douche in the bathroom. I took one of those unused bottles, unwraped it, emptied out the solution that was already in it, then rinsed it out, then filled the douche bottle 1/2 with Hydrogen Peroxide and 1/2 with spring water, shook it up, got in the shower, inserted it and squeezed the solution up in there, held the solution inside for 2-3 minutes, then released it out in the shower. Then I did a douche rinse with water. Today (Thursday), I have no odor and no discharge AT ALL!!! I never thought I would be sharing something like this! Hope this encourages someone that is suffering from this odor for a short period of time.

I also did a mouthwash and gargle with Hydrogen peroxide and had fresher breath too!

I started douching 2 days ago with hydrogen peroxide 1/5 and distilled water 1/5 for vaginal infection. afterwards i started feeling itchy in my vaginal area. has anyone experienced this before? I used a small travel douche as an applicator so i don't know if this was one of the cause.

I too started using the H2O2 with a tampon and started having extreme itching on the outside of my vagina. Is this normal? I am going to continue the treatment because I am tired of having BV with the hopes that the itching goes away. If anyone has solutions that would be great.

I imagine it's because the vagina is irritated - but if it is BV then it should work. I'd probably put some plain yogurt in there afterward to replenish the good bacteria, and soothe/lube it a little.

I would wager that the bubbles are probably causing the itching. I find any time I use HP (on cuts and wounds even) it itches like mad from the sensation of the bubbles when they pop. Even MO can sting/itch/burn when it froths up on the skin, so this may be the issue. It should go away within a fairly short time after treatment though.

I have suffered from BV forever! Have sex, have period, boom, have BV. I have had to wear pantyliners for YEARS! Everything was tried by the Doc...forget them! I used 3% Hydrogen peroxide, do not dilute. It is already diluted to 3% with buffered water. I douched once and the odor decreased, went to dinner for 2 hrs, then douched before bed with same full strength solution. I had a lil itch and tingle that was not originally there for about 15 mins, then gone. Everything gone. No odor, no discharge, no itch, no redness, no pantyliner, NO EMBARRASSMENT!!! I plan to continue the hydrogen peroxide for 7 days, then start life again. I am soooo very happy I found this site and thank all the women for their testimonies. I am taking a 800 mcg folic acid pill and probiotic daily already for intestinal issues and will continue. But the addition of the 3% Hydrogen Peroxide has been the glory help I have been looking for! I just texted my main squeeze who has had to be on the side lines in bed due to this BV and requested we test the results soon with some great sex(this is what usually induces an attack). I will keep you posted of the future results for I know readers need to know if there is a long-term help, not just a quick partial fix. Good luck to all!

Hi Guys, I really just wanted to say thank you so much for all of this feedback. I'm 23years old and off and on I've been getting this BV thing for quite a while. It always comes with uncomfortable itching which leads to scratching and sensitivity, pain, etc. The worst part of course is the awful and embarrassing smell. I feel like everyone around me can or will smell it too and I've been avoiding outings with friends and most certainly sex with my boyfriend. The last time I got it was over a year ago and I was convinced I'd probably never deal with it again! Normally I get this either right before or after my period for about a week and then it goes away on its own, but recently I got it again and it's lasted for over 3wks!!! I'm telling you I was on the verge of tears today, I had searched for an answer online already and read about this product called R_sh. It's a suppository gel that you can get at most pharmacies, it's supposed to correct your vagina's PH balance to eliminate odor and itching, etc. I was so relieved because I thought my worries were finally over, but then I used it and about an hour later, the smell was back and the discharge was the same. I used another one about 4days later since it's supposed to last for about 72hrs and the same thing happened, not even a day's worth of relief. I'd gotten so fed up, and I finally went to Google and typed in Cures for BV and this wonderful page was the 2nd link that came up for me. After reading all of your entries and how respectful and tasteful and compassionate all of you guys have been I just can't thank you enough. I take my personal hygiene very seriously and this had given a huge blow to my self esteem. Now, I have hope. I haven't even tried a remedy yet, but I'm definitely going to try the tampon idea most of you guys have tried. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm really so grateful I could cry.

OK ladies, I have read countless fourums on BV trying to find home reamedies. I started having that dreadful fishy odor with LOTS of white cheesey gunk....... the odor only got worse, to the point to where it smelled like reeking dead fish. I never have an unuasual odor, most of the time I am odorless, with occaisonal sweet or normal odor from excercise or arrousal. I shower twice a day, I use a mild soap like baby wash or dove on my vuvla and labia, then just squirt the shower water up as a water douche. This method works great for me and I never had any problems. Anyway, I started having the BV symptoms last Saturday. I tried the salt sitz bath, the vinegar douche, and tea tree oil, although they cut the odor down, it was still there. I also tried the plain yogurt on a tampon overnight, it did cut the odor down but not fully. My instinct was to use peroxide, and so I researched that and found a clinical study where 80% or so of the patients were cured with peroxide. This is what I did: Yesterday, I soaked a tampon in 3% hydrogen peroxide, full stregnth. It made the tampon swell, and it was kinda hard but I had to just shove it up there. I left it in about 30 minutes. Then I did the finger smell test. Wow!!! Only a faint smell of fish. Then, I used a douche of 1/4 perioxide, and 3/4 water. I was always told to never douche with anything but plain water .....I had several GYNS and midwifes say if I feel the need to douche, plain water is always fine, which is why I just use the shower head. Then, I filled a syringe without the needle with straight peroxide, and flushed it up there, twice. The past two nights I've used the yougurt on a tampon, it seems to help also. As of today, there is NO fishy odor, no odor at all! I will use the perioxide tampon method (because douching scares me) for today and tommorow, then maybe once a week for a month to make sure this is really gone. I'll also go ahead and use the yogurt overnight for at least tonight.....it did seem to help. So thats it ladies!! This is how it worked for me ........the yogurt drastically reduced odor over night, and the perioxide cut it out instantly. Good luck , I'll post more if this comes back. I heard alot of good things about ____, and its just so expensive, I hope I don't have to use it. But I'll say this, I will keep some on hand for after intimate moments or cycles so that the PH NEVER gets so thrown off again!!! What a horrendous, embarrasing infection!!!! (I'm pretty sure mine came from semen; after my boyfriend ejaculated inside me for the first time, I was having symptoms that night-if that ever happens again-afterwards I guess it will be time to "refresh".)

Oh my God!!!! It works! The first time I remember having a vaginal bacterial infection was after a miscariage about five years ago. To my surprise about three months ago developed another one, went to the doctor, was prescribed a one day pill, and it immediately vanished. Too embarrased to go back to the doctor after developing another bacterial vaginal infection about two weeks ago, I decided to research this site for an alternative way of ridding myself of this embarrasing, horrible, fishy odor, and discharge. After reading so many positive results about hydrogen peroxide, I without a lot a faith that it will actually work gave it a try. And oh my God!!!! It works! It's been about a week and no more disgusting fishy odor and no more discharge.

I douched with two part hydrogen peroxide and one part water for two mornings and two nights using a disposable douch bottle. Like magic the bacterial infection vanished. I am overwhelmingly happy and releived. Thank you Earth Clinic for saving me from another doctor's visit and more money for a prscription. I can't tell you how thankful I am.

WARNING!

Warning: I decided to try the H2O2 Acidophilus combo for BV.

Most people mentioned using a solution from the 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, but I thought I had also read about people injecting undiluted 3% H202 directy inside the canal of the vagina. I soaked a tampon in neat 3% HP and left it in for a good 4 hours. Bad mistake, I feel my insides burning and really sore. I think I was just eager to get it over with and forgot how sensitive those parts can be. The smell is gone, but I will have to wait a few days for it to heal before I try again. So please make sure you only soak the tampon in a diluted solution.

I have been suffering with bactorial vaginosis on and off for the last two years. This last bout smelled horrible even after taking the borax. I decided once and for all that I would get rid of the horrible smell. I bought oil of oregano, collodial silver, peroxide (walmart brand) and apple cider vinegar. I started with collodial silver which I took and inserted vaginally for 24 hours. (I used one of the children medicine droppers)I then alternated 3 times a day with apple cider vinegar inserted vaginally(keep it in for 5 to 10 min) and followed by a activia yogurt that I inserted and held in for 20 min. Collidial silver inserted vaginally for 5 to 10 minutes followed by activia. At nite I inserted peroxide followed by activia that I slept with. I also wiped myself everytime I used the bathroom with Apple Cider Vinegar or peroxide. In 3 days discharge and odor was gone completely. The true test was my cycle that was not accompanied by the unbelievable stench. I smell nothing at all and I insert peroxide before bedtime a few days a week for maintenance. I also take aciphidolus tablets. I hope this relieves someone of this dreaded problem

Omg. . . I thought I was the only one suffering. . I've been dealing with this since I was 20 off an on. . If it wasn't a yeast infection it was bv. . . The doctors said it was normal and I would just have to keep taking meds. . .after college I stopped with med an tried to change my diet. .I can't believe it took me this long to find this site. . . .always though bv had to be cured with meds. . . I was sooooooo anxious to start. . .I loaded up on my prenatal vitamins and did a peroxide and water douche . . .then I dipped a tampon in peroxide and inserted it for two hours. . . I woke up the next day. . No odor or discharge. . . I'm still taking the prenatal pills and eating plain yogurt ( a lil honey in it helps). . I will continue this for a while. . I'm soooooo thankful for this site and ur suggestions. . . I can enjoy my sex life. . Not worry about the smell or others possibly smelling me. . . Ladies we are free!!!

I have used the peroxide and water douche for bv which I have suffered with for ten years or more. I started using it about 2 weeks ago. I douched with 3/4 h202 and 1/4 h20 for 4 nights and h202 only for 3 nights. To date, the discharge is so much less than before and the foul odor is gone. Even after sex with there is no fishy odor. I do plan to continue this method at least once a month and sometimes douche after sex. So happy that I came across this site.

Hi all, thanks so much for helping other poor suffers like me to have a decent life. My question to you all, From the time I was a little girl I was told that douching was not good for ladies...... can anyone shed some light on this...is it a myth or fact?

To Backspace:

I was told that douching is not recommended to do regularly because it can disturb our natural flora/good bacteria in the vaginal tract. You can kill it or reduce the amount by douching too much. Some say it is ok to douche every now and then, but you really don't need to as our vaginas have a self cleaning mechanism.

Hi all you with various forms of BV. Since I became allergic to antibiotics and turned my diet upside down and eat only real foods, I treat all my illnesses completely naturally.

For yeast/candida I take acidophilus orally and insert one capsule vaginally in the evening, before bed. If it's really bad I insert 2 capsules per day, am and pm.WORKS

But for BV such as gardanella which is an anaerobic bacteria, in other words it proliferates in places where there is no oxygen I use hydrogen peroxide. I use a 10ml syringe ( without the needle obviously) And draw up clean water (distilled or ozonated) and 1 capfull 3% hydrogen peroxide. Insert it vaginally push the plunger and "hold" the liquid in for a few mins ( lying down helps) and then push it out, may gurgle or froth a bit. Do this twice a day until symptoms seen to have gone and then 1 a day or 1 every other day for maintenance.WORKS WONDERS.
It is important to keep our vagina acidic, I wonder if a solution of water and ACV would help?

Hi, I too had BV and could not get rid of it...until I did some research and found this site, boy was I happy to know I wasn't the only one in the world with this awful problem. After reading so many of the entries, I tried it that same night!! I remember I had a bran new bottle of Hygrogen peroxide in my cabinet,So I went and got a syringe ( the kind you would use to put medicine into; for a yeast infection) Its the only thing I had on hand and I was desperate. So I did the half and half (water with peroxide) I use the needleless syringe to insert it up my vajayjay, and I repeated it about 3 times, then I used the pure peroxide (3%) and washed in the outside. That was about 3 weeks ago and the smell was gone instantly!!! and has not come back as of yet. I'm soo happy and women do not hesitate on trying it cause it does work!!!! You will feel fresh fully clean!!!! You have nothing to lose but the SMELL!!! : )

Warning about hydrogen peroxide douche. I was douching with one third peroxide, 2 thirds water almost every day after sex to stop the bv and it gave me a really bad UTI. I spent thousands at the urologist trying to figure out why i was peeing blood. After having a scope of my bladder an infection was found and I was on antibiotics for 3 months. After that I made my boyfriend wear a condom which stopped the bv. I noticed his saliva also caused it. I think some people just have the creepy crud and my body couldn't handle it.

I personally dont think that peroxide caused your UTI. Peroxide infuses oxygen into cells as it breaks down. This kills harmful bacteria, it doesnt cause it to flourish and grow. If that were the case, it would make the BV worse. I used, and still do for prevention, the H2O2 douche, and have been BV and UTI free. Maybe the water or instruments you used were contaminated. I use a needleless syringe to douche with straight H2O2 (3%). When I am done, I rinse it off and put it in a sealed container full of alcohol, that keeps it sterile. Then the next time I need it I rinse off the alcohol and fill the syringe with peroxide.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) are caused by bacteria that are normally found around the anus...douching can DEFINITELY cause UTIs because sometimes those bad bacteria get pushed into the vagina during the douching process. UTIs are not caused by hydrogen peroxide.

A Note about H2O2 and BV: Just to clarify...I noticed several ladies worried about douching with Hydrogen Peroxide and calling it "bleach". This is incorrect! Yes, peroxide can have a bleaching (i.e. removing color) effect but it is NOT the same as the agent used on hair for color stripping. IN fact, your vagina makes a version of hydrogen peroxide. If you read the bottle you should see it is used as a gargle...if you can put it in your mouth rest assured you can put it in your hoo-hoo! Hydrogen Peroxide helps to balance the vaginal PH, and imbalance is what causes yeast and BV infections. If the PH swings too far one way the you get a yeast infection if it goes the other way then it is BV.

Hi Giselle, I have been battling BV for over a year now. I found that douching with straight peroxide (3%) once a night for seven nights gets rid of it. It doesnt burn, but sometimes I feel a little dried out. I havent had a recurrance in over 8 months, ever since I started this practice. You'll notice a smell still for a few days but it will go away. As for your period, I usually do the douche every night of my period, because its hard for the good bacteria to survive in the alkaline environment that the menstral blood produces. The douche during that time helps the good bacteria survive and fight the bad bacteria. I also do the douche after sex and when my husband performs oral sex on me, because it has been studied that women who recieve oral sex have a better chance of contracting BV and yeast infections. H2O2 also gets rid of yeast infections if you douche once a night for about 3 or 4 nights. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but I SO do NOT want it to come back because of my own negligence. Doing all of this keeps it away for me. Here is a link to a webpage that did a study on the straight peroxide douche for seven nights and the results. Hope it helps. GL :)
