S. O. S. Help. I've posted before. I have really high blood pressure 185/120. I am mid forties, thin and do not smoke. I've tried everything ACV, lemon and cream of tartar, hawthorne berry, cayenne pepper, magnesium, celery, chinese herbal teas, acupuncture and I have purchased multiple products from the healthfood store. Can you refer a product or something to me that works. I am currently on a beta blocker that barely works and is making me sick. I am a single working Mother with two kids and it's even difficult to work. Please help.

Cream of Tarter, Lemon Juice

Hilary, would you believe this... I also got stung by a bee and took benedryl. I didn't put two and two together until I read your post. I went to a massage therapist and she took my blood pressure. It was 176/103. I couldn't believe it so when I got home I took it on my machine and it was 156/95 which was better but still way too high and had me worried. It stayed pretty high like that so I came to Earth Clinic and read about taking Lemon Juice with Cream of Tarter. You will have to look it up for the exact instructions but I used the juice of 1/2 lemon and instead of using 2 teaspoons of cream of tarter, I only used one. It tastes fine. I did add a little honey to sweeten it and threw in a shake of red pepper. My blood pressure dropped like a rock! I did that for about three days and then my blood pressure was so good I just stopped. My blood pressure this morning is 116/70. I'm happy with that. A big thanks to whoever posted that remedy. After reading your post, I'm wondering if the Benedryl is what caused it to get so high. It has been getting a little bit higher this year and the Doc has been threatening me with medication so I am very grateful this remedy is working.

CoQ10, Olive Leaf

Hi Hillary - both my husband and I keep our blood pressure under control with Q10 and liquid Olive Leaf. The Olive Leaf especially is amazing, it brings our blood pressure down without any problems. Q10 requires LCarnitine (an amino acid) and MSM powder to lock it in. Because Q10 is fat soluble I take it with whole milk. All of these are easily obtainable, at least they are here in Australia. We also use Strauss Heart Drops which are produced in Canada. Strangely you can buy them in NZ but not here. I have no idea why, so I'm not sure whether you can buy them or not. Just google them for more info. They really are wonderful although they taste foul. Good luck Marlane Ellis

I have had high blood pressure for years. I have always drank about a half gallon of water a day. I started taking apple cider vinegar every morning with apple juice. I still drink a half gallon of water a day, or less. Now my blood pressure medication has been cut in half. If my water intake is the same or less, and it's all about water, then why has my medication amount been cut in half since I started taking the vinegar?

Water
Posted by Stephanie (Chicago, Il) on 07/14/2010

High Blood Pressure - Water. The reason apple cider vinegar 'cure' works is because it's usually taken with lots of water. If you don't like the tast of apple cider vinegar, just drink 6-8 glasses of water per day--2 glasses upon rising and the rest before 5pm. High blood pressure is actually just the adaptive process your body has to severe "water deficiency". Drink lots of pure water daily and don't be surprised if your other ailments are cured within weeks or even days.

Had had high blood pressure. 160/110. Started on BP medicine. Made me dizzy. Stopped taking the medication. Started on Pomegranate juice, 2 oz. a day. Too much will give you the runs. Blood pressure dropped to 113/68 in 4 days. This stuff is marvelous. It is supposed to reduce cholesterol also. Haven't had it checked. It is said to reduce the plaque that builds up in the arteries. Whatever it did it worked like a charm.

Hi Bill: Thanks so much for summing it up so nicely. i have 2 questions for you. firstly, do you feel totally safe with the 20 mule team in your body. Secondly you did not mention the alkalizing remedy in this summation. is there a reason? is one on the list superior?

Thanks always, Mary.

Hi Mary...Just to help explain some things. The only thing I would perhaps change in my original anti-candida protocol now is perhaps to avoid the Blackstrap Molasses part -- because BSM contains sugar which helps to feed the candida fungus. I took BSM for the minerals -- mainly potassium and magnesium -- but there are better ways.

From what I know now, I would add this to the protocol:

* Borax -- The ultimate fungal killer. Take 1/8 teaspoon in a litre of water every day. Normally taken for 4 days, then 3 days off every week. 20 Mule Team Borax is fine for this. Borax also removes fluorine from the body.

* Magnesium Chloride or Magnesium Citrate supplementation -- at least 400 mg per day(split into 2 doses). Magnesium is used in over 300 enzyme reactions in your body, balances hormones, calming, acts like an antibiotic against bacteria, helps the heart, reduces calcium build-up in the tissues(thus further reducing body acidity) and also works together with the borax to improve and maintain bone health.

* Hydrogen Peroxide -- Anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral. Used in the protocol mainly to help clear or detox the blood and lymph of debris and to give you more energy.

* Natural sea salt or Fulvic acid for proper mineral balance.

* Chlorella to remove heavy metal build-up in the body.

* Iodine -- using Lugol's or Iodoral tablets. You can also just paint the soles of your feet with ordinary iodine tincture twice a week(I do this) -- the iodine will be absorbed through the skin. Iodine will help to remove bromine, chlorine and fluorine from the body and will also give good support to the immune system. Iodine also helps to kill the candida.

* Instead of using my own tri-herbal remedy -- choose any good quality herbs of your own choice -- such as milk thistle, dandylion and burdock -- to support both your kidneys and liver -- these are the main excretory organs of the blood. Doing this will soften the candida die-off or Herxheimer effects during the protocol.

With my original anti-candida protocol(when I didn't know as much as I do now), it took a whole year to defeat my candida. Ted maintains that you should be able to cure candida properly in 4 months. These additions should help you to achieve this.

I take most of the above now on a daily, weekly or monthly basis as a preventative defence for my body and as immune support. I haven't had cold, flu etc for well over 3 years now -- I used to catch everything under the sun when I had candida!!

High Blood Pressure/Adrenal Connection
Posted by Susan (Hornchurch, Essex, England) on 05/20/2010

dear friends

i am a new member of this great website. having had problems over the years with my high bp...my doctors have finally come to the conclusion that the cause is my adrenal gland. no medication would work or had very bad side effects. with the bp rising to almost 190/144..and even more if a bad day, i had several tests done - which showed that my adrenal gland produces too much of aldesterone. after a final test to see which adrenal gland is playing up - which i can tell you was painful and very long...yippi...we found it was the left one...or was it...?

of course, the docs are not determined to remove the adrenal gland to bring my bp back to normal, or so they say. however, i am not convinced that this stressful test is reliable and what are problems coming after?

i am very curious to hear about anyone's experiences with alternative remedies to this problem - i know, i have to loose a bit of weight and i am quite busy in my job. i do however do a daily walk with our dog and have recently started with a shiatsu massage.. but i would be so so so so grateful for your help and feedback because i do worry about it all and want to find a solution and get healthy.

thanks so much

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda

Hi Robert. I don't know what specific factors are contributing to your HBP but if you try to incorporate more fruits & veggies into your diet - this will certainly help you significantly. I would also encourage you to eat garlic and cayenne pepper (the hotter the better). These two sources (along with magnesium chloride) are exceptional at lowering HBP. I know because both my parents no longer suffer from HBP (especially my mother who took meds for a while). I recommend garlic cayenne because both possess some degree of sulfur and magnesium - which, when working in tandem, are exceptional at reducing the force at which the heart has to work/pump blood systemically (systolic). Cayenne pepper (which is one of my favorite herbs/spices) is mother nature's gift for strengthening the heart. Its very rich in magnesium (which helps to induce muscle relaxation, circulation vasodilation) and garlic - known for so many different things - is very rich in sulphur compounds.

NOTE: I do want to caution u that since you are taking meds - both cayenne garlic are minimal blood thinners and thus, could be a cause for concern (for you). Check with your doctor to prevent any problems.

But as for utilizing as a remedy - I would recommend to start - trying to eat 1 raw (preferably organic) clove of garlic a day. (Yikes! I know!) but it works! I would say mince it and try it in a salad or w/ an avocado. The allicin in the garlic can oftentimes be hard on digestion. Cayenne u can basically sprinkle on anything....or if you want to go for the gusto - try a 1/4 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon in a cup of hot water or tea of your choice (ie. peppermint, chamomile, ginger, etc.) w/ lemon and some honey (per day). This is how I usually take it....but if neither appeals to u - then I say, try the diet route. I think it'll be a win-win either way.

Take care God Bless You. :0)

I have been taking cayenne pepper for the past 6 weeks, 1 teaspoon three times per day. I have been feeling unwell for years and came across this site. Made a bit of difference. I felt the best I have for years, although still not real good. I am about 7 lb overweight and exercise daily and have a healthy diet. I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism (palpitations, difficulty losing weight, lightheadedness, slightly elevated cholesterol, high triglycerides, anxiety, etc.) but blood tests are normal. My blood pressure has been good since taking the cayenne pepper. However last week it went very high for 4 days. I had much more mucous than normal and may have had a sinus infection. I started taking ACV for my blood pressure and it has finally come down. My cold symptoms have also got much better. My questions are:

Is it better to take Cayenne pepper or ACV or can they be taken together? Also can having a slight infection make blood pressure rise? Look forward to getting some answers.

Robert you don't mention how much of the ACV you are using daily or if you are using the raw, unfiltered ACV with the Mother. For 3 weeks now I have been using the ACV with the Mother in it, 3 tablespoons a day with water and juice and using baking soda to bring up the ph level to 7.2. Today when I went to the Dr he took me off the Lisinopril and told me to keep doing what I am doing. From what I understand sometimes you have to stay on it for some time before you see benefits but I am not sure. Hope this helps.

Can't lower my blood pressure 170/70. Doctor put me on blood pressure pills 10mg Lisinopril and 12.5mg Hydrochlorothiazide, and now wants to increase the dose. My body was/is having a hard time adjusting. Right kidney has slight pain, my skin is dry, my nails have pits in them, I am slightly tired, just don't have the energy I used to.

I have tried the ACV, with Baking Soda, but it doesn't seem to help all that much. Any help would be much appreciated thank you!

Posted by Bill (San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines) on 05/16/2010

Hi Mary...Many thanks for your questions. I'll try and answer them as best I can:

Firstly, when you were treating your systemic yeast infection you used molasses. How could that have worked considering you would be feeding them? Did it not make you retain water and gain weight?

This is a good question. Oddly enough, when I cured myself of candida and everything else, I lost alot of weight(over 25 lbs). When you alkalize, you effectively put your body into high working efficiency. Your immune system improves and your energy also improves because alkalizing and bicarbonates are specifically used in human respiration and in digestion, making these body processes much more efficient.

I also used VCO in my candida remedy on a daily basis because the saturated fats in VCO(as medium chain triglycerides) are not stored as fat in the body, but instead the unneeded saturated fat is simply excreted directly from the liver into the intestines. Normal vegetable oils or polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats(long chain triglycerides) are always stored in the body as fats. This is why I have a high regard for VCO, for me it is the safest and best edible oil in the world.

I used molasses in order to supply my body with more minerals -- specifically magnesium and potassium during my remedy. In those early days, I was an EC newbie and didn't understand that much. If I had candida now, I probably wouldn't use molasses, but would use sea salt and fulvic acid for minerals instead and would also use borax to help kill off the candida as well. I would also use hydrogen peroxide and magnesium chloride or citrate as well which I never used before(I use them now).

Secondly, you used an alkalizing formula 3X per day did you not retain water from all the sodium in the baking soda? Also would you not experience some sort of electrolyte imbalance with all that (non sea salt) type of sodium?

When most people think sodium, they think it is the big, bad enemy -- salt. But sodium is not salt. I also agree with Ted, our bodies need sodium, over 80% of our body electrolytes consist of sodium. Therefore we need sodium everyday. The scare over salt is, in my own opinion, well overplayed. As long as you use natural sea salt, you should have few sodium or salt issues.

You wont retain water using sodium bicarbonate as you would with table salt because they are completely different substances with different effects on the body. Sodium bicarbonate is NaHCO3 whereas salt is NaCl. Both have completely different behaviours in the body. Ordinary table salt has a pH = 5 whereas sea salt has a pH = 7.5 - 8.5 and is more alkaline which is why natural sea salt is so much better for you. Table salt is refined and so only contains NaCl, whereas a good natural sea salt will contain many minerals as well and has many more useful body electrolytes that are both necessary for the body as well as being alkaline and more balancing.

Why do you think so many jpoeple report weight loss here on earth clinic, with the use of ACV and water? they do not include baking soda? And one post said it (ACV and BS) made her retain water?
what are your thoughts?

Acid body conditions can lead to accumulation of fats. So can pollution of the body from heavy metals. In fact, I have read that the production and storage of fats in the body is a kind of body defence against the accumulation of heavy metals, a way for the body to hide the heavy metals safely in order to protect against their bad effects on the organs and blood.

I would also rarely use ACV without using baking soda with it. If you take ACV on its own, the acetic and malic acids in the ACV will be converted to acetate and malate salts by your digestion and then will be absorbed. So this actually depletes your body stores of sodium bicarbonates. By adding sodium bicarbonate to the ACV plus water you convert the acids to their salts BEFORE you ingest them so you save your body bicarbonates, by not having to digest and convert these acids to their salts. So you alkalize you body even more this way by saving your own bicarbonates.

The lady who gained weight using ACV might have had a problem with her kidneys or liver, we just don't know. Kidneys regulate minerals and water in the blood, she might have had a water retention problem. Fat and glucose metabolism is mainly handled by the liver, so there might have been a problem there too. Also we have no idea what her diet was and she was really one of the few cases on EC where ACV didn't help her condition.

I have so many of the same problems and have been fighting for my health for about 14 yrs now. Getting a bit discouraged. would like to try exactly what you did. It really sounds like Dr. Tulio Simoncini's baking soda cure for cancer. He believes cancer is fungus and he floods the area with glucose? (anyway some type of sugar)maybe it works because they feed, and they relax then he blasts the area with a very strong dose of baking soda. Any of your comments would be greatly appreciated!

Apple and Apple Cider Vinegar
Posted by Bill (San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines) on 05/14/2010

The reason Citrus fruits like lemons, lime and ACV are good for the body is that ACV contains malic acid and acetic acid and citrus fruits contain mainly citric acid.

When these acids reach your duodenum, which needs an alkaline to neutral medium for the duodenal enzymes to work, bicarbonates are released from the pancreas to neutralize the stomach acid or chyme. These bicarbonates are also used to neutralize the citric acids from fruits and the malic acid and acetic acid. The acids from the ACV then become their salts -- actetates and malates which are highly absorbable in the intestines and they are referred to as alkaline forming. The citric acid from the fruits is converted to citrates which are also absorbed for the same reasons.

The best way to alkalize is either to squeeze a lemon or lime into a glass, or use two tablespoons of ACV plus 1/4 - 1/2 tspn of baking soda because by doing this you convert the citric acid from the fruits to citrates and you also convert the malic acid and acetates in the ACV to their salts BEFORE you digest them. So you don't need to use your own digestion's bicarbonates to neutralize these acids -- thus effectively saving your body's bicarbonates which promotes even better alkalinity as well as promoting more efficient digestion and respiration for your body overall. Essentially, by using the salt form rather than the acid forms, you are saving the body bicarbonates for use in your body rather than wasting them unecessarily in digestion.

This is also the reason why Ted always advises to take Vitamin C not as Ascorbic acid but as ascorbates. Exactly the same reasoning applies here too. Ascorbic acid is actually a pro-oxidant, and when you add sodium bicarbonate to a solution of ascorbic acid, this then becomes an ascorbate salt of sodium -- an anti-oxidant.

I'm glad you are happy with the way you use salt but to be honest.... I prefer to use a minimum of salt but cook with it. Food just tastes a lot better. Adding at the table just doesn't taste the same. I dare say that no one should take too much salt, not at the table and not for cooking.

If you're trying to cut salt from your diet for high blood pressure, you might try what my holistic practioner told me. Eat all the salt you want. Just do NOT use it in your cooking. Use sea salt (we use a tabletop twist grinder) at the table. Now my home canned produce tastes so salty (followed manufacturers directions) that it's nearly inedible. Amazing how much less salt we use at our house!

Hi Miriam.

I have been posting here for years now. Somewhere on here, I said that I believed sugars ( Carbs ) contributed as much to Higher blood pressure as does sodium. I also find that diet effects my blood pressure by as much as 15 to 20 points.

So yea, I think you might be on the right track about those carbs.

I think the key is to stay hydrated, but keeping the kidneys flushed. Asparagus extract can help keep kidneys flushed also.

I know the low carb lifestyle has been controversial, but I have proven the benefits to myself for years. Also, acid reflux/heartburn will disappear while on a low carb diet!

Hello Karen from Deland,

This is a first for me. Never in 30+ years of working in the medical field have I heard any doctor or nurse say you can totally ignore the diastolic reading.

But knowing no more than we do about this person with the hypertension/stress/anxiety problems for 20 years, my reasoning would have been that stress depletes the body of the B vitamins, and that magnesium is an essential mineral our bodies need which also has a lot to do with our nerves, thus our stress and anxiety. You aren't going to cure the family problems with the the parents or the kids overnight, if ever. But the odds are that the level of stress and anxiety are causing a lot of those problems with the marriage, parents and kids.

If I were in this person's shoes I would probably make sure I was taking a good multivitamin/mineral supplement daily (probably one morning and one evenings for a week or two), a good stress tablet mealtimes and bedtime, and magnesium supplement of 400 to 500 mgm b.i.d. Once I was feeling better and pressure let up, I would wean myself off the Valium 5 t.i.d. Another thing our bodies need that has a lot to do with blood pressure also is potassium, and our modern day fast food dietary habits are likely to cause multiple deficiencies. Low potassium also causes an increase in stress and anxiety. A good way to tell if this is part of the problem, is to drink a big glass of fresh or frozen orange juice and see if you feel better for an hour or more afterwards. If so, add a potassium supplement to increase health immediately, but in the long run, improving ones dietary habits to increase these levels is going to be the most beneficial.

If problems with family, marriage, kids and parents continue, then the whole bunch of them need to learn to talk to each other, without accusations and anger, and if they can't do that without counseling, lets hope they find a good one.

Response to Joyce from TN -
Not this doctor, this was recently just posted:

Question:
"Dear Doctor Rief, I have had high blood pressure for 20 years. I have tried at least 14 different medications during all these years. In all this time I have never been able to get my pressure down to normal limits. My diastolic is always in the 90`s and the systolic in the 140`s. I am now 54 and worrying as time passes I am at risk of stroke or heart attack. I`ve had a stress/echo 18 months ago and it was normal. What can I do to get my pressure under control? I also suffer from GAD and currently take 5 mg. valium TID. I am under a lot of stress in my life and have been since first being diagnosed with high blood pressure. Problems with my marriage and relationship with parents and kids. I just want to be normal as now I am not able to drive due to the anxiety. Thank you for any advice you can offer

Doctor's Answer:
It is difficult to give specific advice without having complete data in an individual patient. However, a few points can be made:

Anxiety can cause or aggravate hypertension, and hypertension can cause anxiety. Some patients respond to counseling, while others respond to antidepressants.

At any rate, your blood pressure should be 130 systolic or lower. You can safely ignore the diastolic number, as it is not indicative of cardiovascular risk.

To Eve from Liverpool:

That's what we've been told, but unfortunately the information is very misleading and appears to be intentional. I found this article (I've listed below) very interesting, especially where it states that just four years ago high blood pressure was classified as 160/95.

"Here Are the Best Natural Cures for High Blood Pressure:

High blood pressure is classified as a systolic pressure of more than 140 and the diastolic pressure of more than 90. It's interesting to note that about 4 years ago, high blood pressure was classified as 160/95. The lowering of the standard has little to with health risks, and a lot more to do with how much money goes into the FDA, and the entire pharmaceutical industry. This is part of the reason that many of the natural cures for high blood pressure are not publicized. However, without much further ado, here are the best natural cures for high blood pressure:

Apple Cider Vinegar - This is a miracle cure for high blood pressure patients. Apple Cider Vinegar acts very fast, and you will start seeing a difference in your blood pressure within a week with it. You do not need any other medication for high blood pressure with apple cider vinegar.

Dosage - Take one full tablespoon 3 times a day for the best results.

Preparation - Nothing special. If it's too strong for you, you can mix it with a glass of water.

Recommendation - Buy an unpasteurized apple cider vinegar brand. A good one I know of is the _____s organic Apple Cider Vinegar.

Downsides - None as such. You might want to add in a bit of Sodium Bi-Carbonate to help provide the extra carbonates that your body will need due to the acidic nature of Apple Cider Vinegar.

This is easily one of the best natural cures for high blood pressure."

We know from reading EC that raw ACV has worked well for many. Thanks to the drug companies and their scare tactics we've been lead to believe we are all suppose to run somewhere around 120/80. More drugs, more money in their pockets. As if they need it, they are already a billion dollar industry.

Hello Gregg from Petoskey,

You are most welcome. I don't think your 2 tablespoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar will interfere with the action of the ACV, but that is a lot of sweetening for 1 cup or 6 oz water. Must taste kind of like syrup in those proportions. If you have a tendency toward insulin resistance (also known as Metabolic Syndrome X which ends up in diabetes mellitus-type 2) you might want to start cutting down on so much sweets. I have this problem myself, and find that my 2 tablespoons of ACV goes down very well in tomato juice with no sweetening. You might also want to work on reducing your aspartame and monosodium glutamate (MSG) in your foods. You won't be very successful with this until you learn all the names they hide MSG under. Aspartame is usually under NutraSweet or Equal, but MSG has a slew of names in the ingredients lists. You are going to find it very hard to find any salad dressing, tomato ketchup, sauces, broths, bouillion cubes or powders that don't have one or both. When eating out remember that anything made with a sauce or gravy is going to be loaded with one or both. If you search Metabolic Syndrom X on the internet you will find that it starts with excess insulin production - progresses onward through high cholesterol, over weight, high blood pressure to diabetes and all its compliciations including strokes and heart attacks.

One thing I didn't mention because you said you were a very healthy eater, if you are drinking carbonated beverages (I consider one a day, one too many) you need to switch to water, herbal teas or green tea instead. I have been sure since the late 70's that they aren't good for your kidneys, but it was only recently that I read something that might explain why. It seems that when sodium benzoate (preservative) and vitamin C are included in the same food or drink, a chemical reaction occurs that converts the sodium benzoate back into benzene, to find what havoc that can do in your body, just type benzene in the search window and enjoy reading. Cancer of the kidneys is one thing it causes. I have no trouble believing this as a great niece got a kidney transplant on my birthday in 2006 (thanks to cancer of the kidney) and my niece had part of one kidney removed for the same reason about 2 years ago.

Four children I saw in the clinic who were spilling protein in their urine convinced me that carbonated beverages damaged the kidneys when their proteinuria disappeared with having the parents take the kids off of all carbonated beverages, letting them only have milk, fruit juice or water to drink.

Blood Pressure Readings

Hi Eve from Liverpool,

The ideal blood pressure reading for an young adult is 120/80. The upper number is systole (what pressure is exerted during pumping action and the diastole (pressure exerted during rest between pumping action). When looking at the numbers, you can readily see that a 20 increase in the systolic doesn't look nearly as frightening as when it occurs in the diastole (140/80 vs 120/l00) and your doctor is more likely to be concerned about the 120/100.

Hi, I thought the diastolic reading was the most important and should be below 90.

First, thanks Joyce from Tenn. for your responce and information! It's great to have people out there that are willing to help and share their experiences and knowledge. I started eating 4 stalks of celery approx. 10 days ago. (I will try the B6/Magnesium combination you spoke of). The highest b/p readings were in the evening after coming home from work. I am taking Apple Cider Vinegar (2 tablespoons) mixed with (2 tablespoons) of clover honey and one tablespoon of light brown sugar stirred in approx. 6 oz. of hot water. Tastes very good! (Hope the honey and sugar do not affect the benefits of the ACV) Again Joyce, thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Blood Pressure Readings

Hello Greg from Petoskey, Michigan,

I have read that the best way to keep a check on your blood pressure is to take it in the same arm, the same position, at the same time each day. Now that we have that out of the way, let's also add that our heart rates and our blood pressures vary with our activity and also with our emotions. When I looked at your readings, I felt envious. However I did wonder if that 140/80 occurred right after getting home through all that snow you guys have been getting lately. If it was, in the future have a seat and a hot cup of tea, kick your heels up and relax for at least 1/2 hour before checking your blood pressure. It has only been a few years that 140/80 was considered high. Before that it was a normal reading.

First off to explain 140/80: the 140 is called the systole and the 80 is diastole. The systole is pressure the blood exerts against the arteries during the pumping action of the heart, the diastole is the pressure exerted at rest between heart beats, so if one or the other has to be a little high, better the one with the pumping activity than the one at rest between beats. For dietary reference, 4 stems of celery per day is said to lower the blood pressure. Also read recently that eating 2 slices of beets (fresh, canned, or cooked) a day does the same. You might consider taking a B6 and magnesium supplement to lower the blood pressure should it go higher. There is a nonprescription tablet combining the 2 on the market. It is called Beelith tablets. If you go that route, 1 tablet morning and evening should do the trick, but if you are sure that your diet includes adequate amounts of these, you shouldn't need them, but there is a lot of controversy these days on whether our depleted soil is furnishing our plants with the nutrients they need. My own blood pressure has gone up lately despite being controlled for years with magnesium. After thinking it over, it probably is connected to emotions connected to Obama and his health care reform bill (and his deafness to the 63% who don't want anything to do with it).

Lots of people would love to have your readings and you must be very active (not just considered very active) to have a 46 resting pulse rate.

Blood Pressure Readings

Would like to know if anyone knows (or can direct me to a website) any information on my blood pressure and the significance of the readings. My readings always show a top number that is considered high and the bottom number is normal or below. Typical readings will be as follows: 140/80, 130/68, 120/62 depending on time of day. Is this worse/better (or insignificant) than both readings being high. I just started using Apple Cider Vinager w/mother to try and bring top number down to normal. I am a 54 yr. old male with a resting heart rate of approx. 46 bpm and considered to be very athletic. (6'1", 195 Lbs. 34" waist/44" chest and eat a very healthy diet). Thanks in advance for your help!

High Blood Pressure Reading Tips

To Pat from MO: That's a tough one since we are all different. Conventional wisdom will tell you 120/80 is where we all should be which is ridiculous. Why in the world should we all be expected to have the same blood pressure reading? What we need to know is what is normal for us, not scared into thinking we are going to have a stroke if it's not close to those numbers. Blood pressure goes up and it goes down. I wish I had the answers.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda
Posted by Karen (Deland, Fl) on 02/23/2010

Hello - I have a question for Ted. I have been taking ACV with baking soda daily. Is daily baking soda added to apple cider vinegar w/mother the correct remedy for high blood pressure or should I drink the ACV in water without the baking soda? I've been reading about sodium in baking soda so I'm unclear as to the amount. I have been adding 1/4 teaspoon to an 8 oz glass of water with 2 tablespoons ACV. (I also brush my teeth with baking soda). Thank you.

Hawthorn

As an herbalist I have recommended Hawthorn Blend with positive results to 8 different people. All 8 had a drop in their blood pressure after using a tincture (30 drops AM, and PM) for about 2 weeks. I would recommend anybody with blood pressure issues to research this herb. It also corrects low blood pressure.
