Boric Acid Cure for Bacterial Vaginosis

Ordered the boric acid capsules 600mg. It works amazing! Only thing is my boyfriend complains it causes him to tingle, I know he's right cause sometimes after I shave and I put one up there and when it leaks it causes irritation on the outside vagina. Anyone know any other options?! A vegan Boric acid or what? This is the only thing that helps with that horrid smell!

I've been using the capsules for almost 30 days now, I've had a problem with bv for years, I used 2 capsules a day..1 in the morning & 1 before bed for 7 days & now I just use them 2 times a week...I also use 2 (not both at the same time) right after my period & 1 after sexual intercourse

NEVER EVER EVER "wash" ANY part of your body with boric acid! Sorry, but vaginal insertion is your best bet.

Can you wash your area with boric acid instead of just pushing a capsule in there. If so how can you do it, just add water with the powder and wash?

My pharmacy would not even make a compound without a prescription, despite it being OTC. I've only been using it for a few days now, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. After trying a bunch of other things, clotrimazole helped — but it didn't cure things. I started on boric acid a day or two later (couldn't get it as immediately as I'd hoped), and it seems to be staying at the same point as when I finished the clotrimazole. Hoping a few more days will make the difference. Like many of you, I'm SO done!

Question for everyone, though — I can't find anything on a smell resulting from this treatment, but a couple of days ago, I noticed a “burning” smell whenever I went to the bathroom. I'm wondering if this is normal or if I've got something happening that is less common. The first night, there was certainly some burning, but since then, I haven't really felt anything. But the smell is persistent and worrysome. Thanks.

You are absolutely correct in regards to the possibility of BV being sexually transmitted. It's a shame that doctors are not treating men for this too. Doesn't make any sense to me that a women is prescribed an antibiotic to clear it up, but the man that has been exposed to it doesn't?!? It causes PID in women and fertility issues in both women and men and is becoming a super bug because we are only treating half the problem.

In regards to biofilm and BV, proteolytic enzymes which is a completely different profile than digestive enzymes eat away and destroy biofilm, and is a great compliment to take while on treatment and are great to use along with essential oils that break up biofilm. But they need to be taken on an empty stomach and no food for a few hours after so that they digest the biofilm and not your food.

Take a look at Interfase Plus by Klaire Labs. Works for herpes simplex, staph infections, candidia, and MRSA

Good Luck Ladies!

In response to Maria from New Jersey's comment: This is not true. BV can be "picked up" by men and then transmitted to women during unprotected sex. BV symptoms are caused by an overgrowth of "bad" bacteria: gardnerella vaginalis & atopobium vaginae, among others. These bacteria can colonize the man's urethra and foreskin, if he is uncircumcised. In other words, they make themselves a home inside his pee-hole and foreskin. Then he can transmit the bacteria to women. You are correct that BV flares up when the pH in the vagina is raised. Blood and semen have pHs of 7.4 and between 7.2 - 7.8, respectively. That is why a lot of women have BV symptoms during/after their periods and after unprotected sex. I have done a TON of research on BV, and it can be very complicated.

For example, the "bad" bacteria can form a biofilm inside the vagina that cannot be killed with antibiotics like Flagyl (Metronidazole) or boric acid. Those antibiotics can kill the planktonic bacteria - the ones that are floating around freely in the vagina - but they cannot break through the biofilm or kill the bacteria that make up the biofilm. Some essential oils have been shown to kill biofilms: red thyme and cassia (cinnamon) oil. I am going to experiment with making a suppository with coconut oil and a few drops of thyme oil to try to kill the biofilm. BV has been the bane of my existence for almost a year now, and I'm sick of it :(

Hello,

I'm also suffered from BV for months now and nothing has helped as well including antibiotics and all other things you can think of. I've just started doing boric acid supplements and its my second day. I've not gotten any discharge or odor after I started using it. However, I still have itchiness going on. Do you remember when did the all the symptoms started clearing up?

Today is my second day doing two boric acid suppositories one in the morning and the other one in the evening. I plan on doing it for two weeks.

I have had recurring BV 4 times already. I have taken Flagyl for 7 days and just started Boric Acid suppositories on Monday. You can still have intercourse, you just want to make sure you insert the pill after you have intercourse, because you want the pill to dissolve completely, otherwise, whats the point. There will be a lot of leakage when the pill dissolves, so wear a panty liner. Also, Boric Acid suppositories are very inexpensive at the pharmacy. I would have your doctor put a prescription in. I am taking a 2 month course of it, it cost $7.00 and it seems to be working great.

8 years of battling is very concerning as it can have serious affects on your body. I hope you are seeing a professional OBGYN at this point. Boric acid is extremely effective but since you have been battling for years it is common for this to have progressed into the inner walls on your cervix. I would definitely address this seriously as this is way too long to be occurring.

Hope you see this. My story parallels yours. My recurring infections were temporarily suppressed with boric acid suppositories but it took dietary measures and several weeks to see permanent results. I cut dairy, sugar, starches and bread. Not only did the BV go away, so did a host of other issues I won't go into. Not sure if I needed to go all or nothing like that, but the results were absolutely a healthy turnaround that made complete sense. The standard American diet I enjoyed for years took it's toll as it does with everyone sooner or later. One thing I didn't ever give up was my morning caffeine fix but I switched to black tea from coffee because coffee is awful without dairy and sweetener.

Since you and your BF might be passing this back and forth I would recommend that he use Tea Tree Oil every time he showers on his private area. It shouldn't irritate him, but everyone is different. Might be a cooling sensation. All he would need is one drop to rub between his hands, apply and rinse. That may help with any bacteria he could be carrying on the outside.

I have also had success with boric acid/coconut oil/probiotic suppositories. I had BV about 2.5 years ago and used these and they knocked it out. Here is the recipe I used:

1/2 Cup coconut oil - melted on the stove in a glass measuring cup (put in a pot of water)

2 tsp of boric acid

1 capsule of whatever probiotic you use.

Melt the CO oil, add the boric acid and open the capsule of probiotics and pour into the measuring cup. Mix well. Pour into a mold and refrigerate/freeze. I found a plastic case that holds eggs and poured mine into one half of the case. So it made little half moons. I cut the half moons into quarter moons and insert one in the morning and one at night for 2 wks.

I hope this helps.

Boric acid worked wonders for me. First store bought with little results, then homemade with little/temporary results. The only thing that cleared it up for me was I stopped having sex with my partner for two-three weeks with a nightly treatment of the boric acid. Will continue to use the boric acid after my period and after unprotected sex with my partner. (To be specific I ordered boric acid off Amazon and size 0 gel capsules) Also, to note I've had BV in the past and was able to clear it up with a Peroxide douche, but I have a copper IUD now and feel like it made it harder to ditch the infection.

hi ladylaw!

im sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. You DONT have to live with BV and odor your whole life. Boric acid suppositories will get rid of the infection. Also, you may use betadine vaginal douche in urgent situations: I.e. If an odor is present and you expect to be intimate shortly.

Note: (use a mild solution of the douche mixture as it is quite strong)

good luck

If you do the boric acid you have to be drinking probiotics too to replace it with good bacteria if not your killing all the bad and good with boric acid and your going to get bv back

Insert boric acid before bed for 7 days and then continue to everyone 3-4 days (twice a week) that should keep symptoms away.

I was prescribed boric acid every night before I sleep for 7 days and then whenever I feel symptoms after that. I have continuously been inserting every 3-4 days (twice a week) and I have been symptom free for 3 months now. Remember to wear a panty liner because you get a lot of watery discharge, which is all the bad stuff coming out along with the Boric Acid. You will also get some odorless discharge the following day, just wipe.

(I have had BV/Yeast for 2 years and I am so happy I found a cure that actually, without a doubt, works! )

BORIC ACID IS THE ANSWER.

I went to so many doctors for about 2 years, trying out different home remedies and also trying antibiotics. I believe I was diagnosed incorrectly at first as UTI, and got prescribed antibiotics. I was later then told the those meds make you prone to BV and Yeast.. Then begins my horrible nightmare for two years.

I had it recurring every month before my period; one week of yeast, next week BV, then my period with BV. At this point, I would have gone to my doctor and got antibiotics, so I would have one week that is good and then the cycle starts again. I thought it was the birth control I was taking so I switched, I eventually got my IUD done and the doctor advised me it is not good to take antibiotics to cure it. Advised to try some remedies she recommended, it did not work.

Anyways, I finally saw a doctor recently and she prescribed me BORIC ACID. I looked into it and kind of freaked me out because I read it is poisonous, and also used to kill mouse sometimes. But I also read it CURES, as what I call it, THE BROKEN VAGINA. LADIES, get Boric Acid prescribed or buy it online and pack it yourself (size 0 capsules). I used it everyday for 7 days initially and now I insert it twice a week (every 3-4 days) before I sleep. I have been good for about a month and a half, no symptoms at all. I also started taking women's probiotics 3 times a day, not sure if it has helped but I am afraid to stop taking it.

BORIC ACID. BORIC ACID. BORIC ACID. BORIC ACID. BORIC ACID!!! :)

1. Yes you can have sex although I would recommend using the suppository after sex or right before bed.

2. You don't have to make your own ... I just purchased them on Amazon and it's been working great. No more odor and the discharge is mostly gone.

3. Yes a tampon is still fine.

Hope this all helps ... this has been such a relief for me. My BV symptoms are basically gone and I've only been using it for 1 week. I will continue using it 3 days per week for maintaince and throughout my period.

a compound pharmacy (not cvs, Walgreens, etc.., but a real pharmacy where they actually mix up medicines) can make the boric acid suppositories for you. My insurance required a prescription but your gynecologist should write you one, no problem.

I have been dealing with this for approx. 9 months now and about to lose my mind. Its extremely embarrassing for a relationship and now I'm just want it gone. Couple questions: 1. can you have sex while taking the boric acid? 2. Do you have to make your own capsules or can you buy the boric acid already to insert? if not, geezzz what is the process? 3. If you are taking the boric acid every day of your period can you still wear a tampon?

BV is Bacterial VAGINOSIS, there is no way for a man to get this. It is not transmitted during sexual intercourse, it is an imbalance of vaginal PH.

I would like to share a remedy for bacterial vaginosis. First of all, I have found it to be correlated with Candida, so reducing sugar in the diet and using candida supplements have really helped prevent recurrences. But for treatment and remedy, the very best thing I have found is boric acid. The best way I've found to apply it is to get an empty gelcap and fill it with boric acid and use like a vaginal suppository. For me this usually eliminates any symptoms within a few hours. The only caution I would give is to make sure to carefully label both the original bottle and any prepared capsules as poison for safety because it is a toxic substance if eaten. I also would recommend keeping it out of the reach of any small children.

Best wishes to others and I hope this is helpful!

After going to the doctor millions of time being prescribed creams, gel, antibodies. Trying home remedies douching with hydrogen peroxide, ACV, Betadine etc. My yeast and bv kept coming right back. Those things would clear it in a few days but it would rear it's nasty head again. My last resort was boric acid pills I was so scared to purchase them and when they finally came I'm like I dont know if I want to put roach killer in me but I was desperate and tried everything else. Well let me just say they have been a life saver. Ladies Please try them I had been suffering from BV for 3 years and I finally found something that has gotten rid of it. Insert one at night. Wear panty liners the next day because it will run out of you. Do this for 7 days.

My roommate went to her doctor and she got boric acid suppositories to use for 14 days and cream triamcinolone 0.1 %CR. for her chronic and uncomfortable BV. It worked well but the 14 boric acid capsules cost 58.00 and the cream was expensive too. I have the same issue so I bought a bottle of boric acid powder and 00 size empty gel caps. I got 6oz of boric acid for 7.50 and 300 caps for 7.00. I use vagisil cream for the itching and summers eve cleaning wash every day (I have a bidet which helps). All my problems resolved. So did my roommate's. Hers has returned so I made her more boric acid suppositories tonight. It really does the trick!

I have had BV for around 3 months. I don't know how you women have dealt with it for years. It is the most uncomfortable thing in the world. Not to mention, it makes me feel like I'm not keeping myself "clean". But I am! Doing everything the Dr. says. Only cleaning with water, baking soda baths, I've been on 4 medications. The doctor prescribed me boric acid suppositories and I am praying they work. Just started tonight. Seems like there is a lot of success so fingers crossed. Good luck, ladies!

Hi Sue! I am on the same treatment, 600mg every night for 14 days. The extra discharge is normal. My doctor warned me that I would need to wear panty liners while on the treatment because the discharge can be fairly heavy. I usually have to relieve myself to the restroom a couple times a day to just kind of dry myself up. Good luck :)

Question: I've battled with chronic BV for 8 years not knowing until recently what it was. Now I have a proper diagnosis and am treating it with Boric Acid. I've been inserting one homemade 600mg capsule before bed for the past 7 nights. The odor is completely gone. However, the discharge is still present in a pretty heavy amount. It is thin and clear to slightly milky. I'm curious if this is a stage of healing or if I need to up my dose and frequency. I'm elated that the odor is gone, but would love to completely eradicate the discharge. Any personal experience or feedback would be much appreciated.

If you are getting BV every time you have sex, it is likely that your partner has it and they keep giving it back to you. You & your partner should be treated at the same time, then it's not likely to come back.

I'm trying to better understand the best mold to use. If I understand you correctly, the water bottle ice mold that is long and round is what goes in your bottle to keep the water extra cold? That may come off as a silly question but the one I have in my freezer came filled already and then the liquid freezes but the mold does not open. I will look for one that is to be filled with water and then frozen so in this case, it can open and be used for my own suppositories; I'm just wondering how you get the molded product out of this style mold and when breaking, how much you use, twice a day? I like the combination you are using and appreciate you sharing!

Cured! After one year of suffering bv and a countless number of trips to the doctor. Prescription after prescription of antibiotics that only worked while I was taking them. The bv would return two days after stopping the course. I was prescribed boric acid 1 * 600mg capsule inserted at night for two weeks. To be honest I was a little unsure about using it but I would have tried just about anything to get rid of bv. I also inserted a vaginal health probiotic morning and night. I ingested two probiotics at breakfast. One for vaginal health the other an immune booster. I also started taking a multivitamin that helps to support a healthy female reproductive system. I made sure to eat well to support my immune system.

After two days of boric acid the symptoms were gone. After two weeks I finished the course and continued with the probiotics regime for a further two weeks. I'm just over one month free of bv. If you're reading this and suffering from bv I know your pain and I urge you to try this. You won't regret it. X

I know a cure. It worked for me. Boric Acid. Put into vegan empty capsules and insert 2 into vagina at night for one week. If the odor is not gone continue use of pills filled with Boric Acid. Then buy some Neem powder and put into empty capsules. Take one capsule once a day in the morning is good. The Neem powder will prevent the BVD from coming back. Do this it cured me!! ☺

I am a working nurse and have done quite a bit of research on this subject. I have read actual research articles done under controlled conditions. It seems that boric acid is used in many countries without access to 'modern' medicine with very good results. The CDC has published information on dosing schedules for chronic or resistant vaginal yeast infection. The commonly accepted dose for bacterial vaginal infection seems to be one 600 vaginal insert at night and one in the morning for one to two weeks with no sex or anything else inserted into the vagina. I have come to learn that I have recurrent bacterial infection after using lubrication and sex toys. Symptoms become worse after working out/sweating in acrylic leggings. I have never had a chronic infection and I have kidney problems, so I can't take certain antibiotics. Boric acid seems to be the way to go for me.

I have had BV for at least 6 months, and have used a prescription treatment recommended by two doctors. My symptoms remained the same, a reddish brown discharge on some days and others a paler color. It occurred to me two days ago that I used Boric Acid for infection years ago, so I melted a large jar of glycerin suppositories and added 1 bottle Boric Acid. I froze this concoction, then formed back into suppositories that I insert at bedtime. The first night a large amount of reddish-brown discharge was expelled during sleep. The second night, nothing. All day today, nothing. I think the infection was expelled the first night. I should have never left my hippie roots....
