Apple Cider Vinegar for Gout

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) for gout has emerged as a highly effective natural remedy, with over 100 Earth Clinic readers reporting successful relief from gout symptoms. This treatment offers quick results, with some experiencing relief in just a few hours, while others notice significant improvements within days. ACV's natural properties make it an excellent choice for those seeking a holistic approach to managing gout pain and inflammation.

Effective Dosage of Apple Cider Vinegar for Gout Relief

While apple cider vinegar is a versatile natural remedy for various health issues, its effectiveness in treating gout is particularly notable. Consuming 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar diluted in water 2-3 times daily can lead to significant improvements for gout sufferers. This dosage tends to be more effective than smaller amounts for gout relief.

Methods to Administer Apple Cider Vinegar for Gout

There are multiple ways to take apple cider vinegar for gout. Some prefer a direct approach, drinking it as a shot followed by a water chaser. Others may mix it into a glass of water. Mixing apple cider vinegar into juices like apple, grape, or cherry juice – another popular gout remedy – can enhance its benefits. Staying hydrated is key, as it aids in flushing out uric acid crystals, a primary cause of gout pain.

Selecting the Right Apple Cider Vinegar for Gout

For maximum health benefits, choose raw and organic apple cider vinegar. This type is readily available in health food stores and larger supermarkets. However, if an acute gout attack occurs and only regular apple cider vinegar is available, using it is better than not using any at all.

Topical Applications of Apple Cider Vinegar for Gout

Apple cider vinegar's benefits aren't limited to oral consumption; it can also be applied topically. Wrapping the affected area with an apple cider vinegar-soaked cloth can provide relief, especially when left on overnight. Keeping a spray bottle of apple cider vinegar, particularly chilled, can be handy for regular application to the affected areas. Additionally, apple cider vinegar ice cubes can be applied directly to reduce swelling and pain.

Potential Side Effects of Apple Cider Vinegar in Gout Treatment

Although beneficial, sudden and large intake of apple cider vinegar might lead to side effects like lowered blood pressure, blood sugar changes, dizziness, or nausea. It's advisable to start with smaller doses or opt for topical applications if side effects occur.

Apple cider vinegar does work on gout!

I came on this site earlier because I woke up with a painful toe joint this morning. I read a comment about apple cider vinegar being used internally and externally and lo and behold this afternoon I am able to walk without any pain!! Thank you!

What a great product ACV is, I always have a bottle in the cupboard, I had Gout in my left foot 2 days ago and looked up remedies here on Earth Clinic and the top remedy is ACV, I immediately took 2 tablespoons in half a glass of water and within a few hours the pain was gone, when I woke the next day I could stand on my foot and no pain, I then took 2 more tablespoons in water just in case and it has not returned, if you have had Gout you will know how quickly it comes on and how painful it is. Earth Clinic is a wonderful site with so many great remedies and contributors. Art, Rob, Mama, Bill, etc. all helpful people.

Apple Cider Vinegar Dosage for Gout

The key is to increase the dosage to 4 tablespoons per glass of water with 1 teaspoon of honey 3 to 4 times a day. As per my blood work for uric acid it was 10(mg/dL) and it needed to be under 4.5(mg/dL). I am diabetic and have a stunt in my artery, so I take heart medication. I started with the above dosage once a day for the first day. Second day twice a day. Third day three times a day. Fourth day four times a day. Fifth day, I was able to walk. I maintained this dosage till the seventh day. Remarkable improvement. I hope it will help.

Update: Honey does not increase your sugar levels. I am diabetic. Also, I have built tophi(accumulation of uric crystals) on top of my both feet in a 1 inch x 1 inch area. This had caused localized swelling. I used a cold patch 2 to 3 times a day . The swelling reduced. I am still continuing to use 4 tablespoons of ACV with 1 teaspoon of honey and 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda 3 times a day. Just got my blood work for Uric acid and it has dropped from 10 mg/dL to 5 mg/dL. Target now is to bring it down to 3.5 mg/dL . I hope this info helps.

Update: Even though the Uric Acid levels have reduced but I have been told that the crystals from joints will take few months to leave the body. To reduce the inflammation caused by these crystals I am taking 0.6mg Chochicine twice a day. I have consulted a naturopath Dr in this regard as well as diabetes and choked arteries. Objective is to come off all medications and take natural stuff for cure. I will keep you updated.

I have gout in my feet from time to time. I found that if I took a paper towel or two and soaked them in ACV ..wrapped them around my foot then did the plastic wrap over it..put a sock on... in a few minutes the pain was gone while resting. Did the same overnight and had a reasonably pain free night..

A caution tho.. it does seem to dry out the skin and gets a little itchy once removed.. skin seems very soft and can be broken scratching so don't over do it.

CHRONIC GOUT. – To Cure

From the Book - Dr. Chase's New Receipt Book and Medical Advisor or Information for Everbody by A.W. Chase M.D., 1920

Take hot vinegar and put into it all the table salt which it will dissolve, and bathe the parts affected with a soft piece of flannel. Rub it with the hand and dry the foot, etc., by the fire. Repeat this operation four times in the 24 hours, 15 minutes each time, for four days; then twice a day for the same period; then once, and follow this rule whenever the symptoms show themselves at any future time.

The philosophy of the above formula is as follows: Chronic gout proceeds from the obstruction of the free circulation of the blood (in the parts affected ) by the deposit of a chalky substance, which is generally understood to be a carbonate and phosphate of lime. Vinegar and salt dissolve these; and the old chronic compound is broken up. The carbonate of lime, etc., become acetate and muriate, and these being soluble, are taken up by the circulating system and discharged by secretion. This fact will be seen by the gouty joints becoming less and less in bulk until they assume their natural size. During this process the stomach and bowels should be occasionally regulated by a gentle purgative. Abstinence from spirituous libations ; exercise in the open air, and especially in the morning; freely bathing the whole surface ; eating only the plainest food, and occupying the time by study or useful employment are very desirable assistants.

Apple cider vinegar with a small amount of lemonade has helped immensely with my gout.

I had no idea what was causing the pain in my feet. I've suffered with it for almost two years, until recently stabbing pains in my big toe caused me to research it. I had constant pain, on and off and my feet, and while sleeping. After finding out it was caused by gout, I immediately came to this site to look for a cure. I have only taken 2 shots of apple cider vinegar in the morning, for 3 days now, and I am amazed at my feet. The pain is gone and my feet are happy again, and I can walk! This morning I added a shot of lemonade and it made it much more palatable. I LOVE this website. It is my go to website whenever anything goes wrong with my body.

Editor's Choice Last weekend, I took my husband to the ER because he was unable to walk on his ankle. He kept telling me about the horrific pain and knowing he didn't do anything to provoke it, I took him. After blood tests, it turned out to be gout. I was surprised because I honestly thought that happened when you're older than 45 or so. He's 36 and never had problems like that before.

They prescribed him Allupriol 300mgs and I just did not feel right about him taking a pill everyday. For years, I've used Earth Clinic for my ailments (kidney stones) and it always worked for me! I saw the post about ACV with honey and warm water.

I kid you not... less than 24 hours after taking him, the pain and swelling was gone!!! He was able to move with full movement of his ankle the next day. I was thrilled for him!

I warmed a cup of water with 2 tablespoons of ACV and 1 tablespoon of honey. He has been drinking it daily and he feels awesome! I know people wonder if these testimonials are true, this one is! Thank you for always helping those who want an alternative to a prescription, folks. It means the world to us!!!

As for the gout cure, I have it also but I get it from Oranges. Anyway I found if you take 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of honey, the gout goes away after 10-15 minutes.

It is the worst tasting thing ever and I have to sip the mixture but it does work. It may also be beneficial to take a tablespoon of the stuff every morning.

I have used the Apple Cider Vinegar now since a gout attack in January and haven't had one since. At the moment I feel a sight stiffness in my toe, I drink a bottle of water with ACV in it and it works immediately.

I've been taking ACV for a long time, and also give it to my handicap son for his gout. He hasn't got a flare up since I've been giving it to him. We take 1 to 2 tablespoons in about 4 oz of water twice a day, after breakfast, then before or after dinner. The trick to get it to taste OK, is mixing a pinch of salt in it. I tried many things but nothing work as good as salt for me. It just takes a little bit, but it sure makes the difference. I hope this helps you too. Bottoms up!

Editor's Choice I recently had right knee surgery and I was taking Tramadol for pain, a couple of days later the operated knee flared up with a bad gout bout, I was given Naproxen for that, 70% of the pain disappeared in one day, a week later, I got another attack but this time was my left knee, so painful that I had to go to the doctor for a shot, meanwhile I had to go to rehab for my right leg and having these gout attacks so frequently put me on a set back. I went three weeks and I was feeling good, back to therapy, I was making a great improvem until two days ago when in the middle of the night I woke up with a flare on my left foot, so painful that I could not even set the foot on the floor. I felt very depressed knowing that this flare was going to be another set back. I started looking at my diet which is low in purines, and just wonder what else I was doing wrong, then I came across with an internet posting about TRAMADOL and gout, the pain killer that I was taking and low and behold found the main culprit of these frequent flares of gout! It was then that I search for a miracle cure for gout and found this wonderful site.

I decided to try ACV which I already had in my pantry, at first I used 4 tablespoons with a glass of water and boy within 30 minutes the pain and the swelling started to come down that was around noon, at 6pm, I had another glass with 1 tablespoom of ACV and another one before I went to bed along with an Aleve otc pill (naproxen 220 mg) and today after a good night of sleep, the pain and swelling have decreased about 90%, I am able to walk on my foot again, took another glass with 1 tablespoon of ACV and I am filling so much better. I will continue the therapy with two glasses a day with 1 table spoon of ACV only, no more meds!

I am thankful to God and to the persons responsible for this site!

The pharms are doing more damage than good, nature is a better source of cures!

My maternal grandmother always gave us a glass of water with 1 tbs of ACV as kids and did not get sick as often as other kids! She also used for compresses and soaks either hot or cold depending on the ailment.

Just want to thank this site for the info. I have had Gout for 7 yrs. Blood test show high uric acid but never had attack. Recently my ankles and hips have started to hurt really bad. They put me on Allopurinol and the pain got way worse. I couldn't walk. With in about 2 hours of taking about 4 tablespoons of ACV pain was a ton better. 3 days later of doing 2 tablespoons of ACV 2-3 times a day my pain is about 80% better. I think my joints are damaged and are going to take some time to heal. BUT I CAN SLEEP woot!!! Thanks again

My husband has suffered with gout for years having at least a couple attacks a week. Doc gave him tablets that he doesn't take so this is what he does. He has a banana every day which has potassium and Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of apple juice and since doing this on a daily basis for the last 18 months not a single gout attack.

My son was a little angel sent to me by God to watch. He has Down Syndrome. He doesn't ever complain about anything. All he's wanted, in his life, is to be loved. He is now 43 years old, and he is still the same loving angel. I don't know when he hurts, because he won't complain. When he is in REAL pain, he makes a hurt face when he sees me.

I noticed he was limping in the morning, and after checking him, found out he was having a gout flair up in his left toe. I came on here, to earth clinic, to find out what to do for him. I gave him ibuprofin and 1tbsp ACV with 1tsp baking soda in like 6oz water 4 times a day.

It's day 3 now, and the redness finally went away, but it's still swollen a little. So I will continue giving him the ACV and BS. Thanks Earth Clinic!!

Well, I just wanted to report my results for acv for gout. I took the Apple cider vinegar with water, 4 times on Friday, and my foot was better on Saturday... Didnt take it as much on Saturday, and the pain was back but nearly as bad on Sunday. Continued to take the SCV and water 2-3 times a day and it is Wednesday and the pain is about 90% gone. Will continue to drink the ACV until it is 100%. Thanks for the great advice, I am glad someone directed me to this this site.
