I've been taking organic ACV with mother for 2 days now, with no relief at all. I think it might have even gotten worse. The first day I tried 2 tbs of the ACV in 8 oz of tart cherry juice, once in the morning and then before bed. Today I up it to 4 tbs and no relief whatsoever. I even tried 1 tbs of baking soda in 8 oz of water, no relief. I don't know what else I can do?

Apple Cider Vinegar didn't work for me. I tried it and the gout just kept getting worse. I am not doubting the experiences of others or saying the ACV was a contributor to the situation, just offering the caution that it doesn't work for everyone. It has taken an initial Prednisone treatment and sustained Amlodipine to get me back on my feet (literally).

I wish the ACV had worked! I like apple cider so I didn't find the taste of ACV in water objectionable.

Reporting in again, and I TRULY wish I had better news to report. I have tried consistent/heavy doses of organic ACV with "The mother" and honey, natural cherry juice extract, uric acid-reducing capsules, baking soda in water, garlic tablets, no booze - you name it. My big right toe is still swollen, stiff and sore, although not as bad as it was. It almost seems like it's just playing out on its own, regardless of the other stuff I'm taking. FRUSTRATING! Although here's a thought I got with this: "It's like your toe is a tick, engorged with blood, nearly ready to pop - throbbing, painful, non-stop. Or... it's like some evil tiny gnome with a little knife, stabbing & twisting his little blade into your toe, over and over and over again."

Reporting back (as promised) with the apple cider vinegar & water approach: ZERO POSTIIVE EFFECT! FYI, I used a Kroger private label brand, not sure if that matters? It's nearly 11 hours later, can barely bend my big toe (pain seems to be sourcing from the first joint), still swollen. My toe was throbbing and banging so hard last night, I didn't get much sleep and damn near started crying. Any ideas out there folks?

Can gout flareups be caused by an over abundance of iron in your blood, and then if you compound that iron with something with more iron in it like Molasses Honey, or maybe ACV, could that trigger an attack. Or is it strictly a uric acid buildup. I have had gout for number of years but not as severe as now, it always seemed to go away by itself. Recently I tried an old remedy of blackstrap molasses and warm water, but the gout got worse after the second day, then I happened upon the ACV, Honey and water regimen tried it for 2 days now; but gout is still here and getting worse, is there an issue with iron and this remedy as well, In defense of both cures I inadvertently have had more purine rich veggie foods and even haddock lately, mybad I just wasn't paying attention I guess, I'm just asking to see if anyone else experienced any thing like this. If iron is the culprit does anyone know how to diminish iron overload in the body. Thanks to all for any advise

I have suffered from gout for about 9 years, it started in my toes, but about 4 years ago it moved to all my larger joints, ankles, knees, wrists, hands, elbows & shoulders. I was having attacks about every 6-8 weeks. Then I read about ACV & started trying that in hopes that something would work. I started the ACV on 11/29/09 & stopped it on 12/17/09 because I was having one attack after the other. The VA has me on Prednizone & allopurinol for maintenance & are starting me on Indomethacin for when I feel an attack coming on. I read about ACV with Mother & tried that for about 20 days, taking one tsp. with baking soda in 8oz. water twice per day. The gout attacks became more frequent ( 10 attacks in 90 days)they would last from 3 days to 14 days with the latest attack lasting a full 30 days. I would really like to be able to use the Organic ACV with Mother but I am now afraid to try it again. Any suggestions??

My husband has been suffering for gout for around fifteen years. Whenever he had an attack the medicine the docter gave him would make him very sick and he would lose weight and become very weak. It was awful to see him in so much pain,he could not even stand for the bed sheet to rub his foot. I decided to try to find a natural cure for gout that might help him so i went searching on the internet and came upon this site. I read all the post about AVC greatly relieving and even curing peoples gout,I got very excited and since we had some on hand I got my husband to take the recomended dose that same night and the next day.I had great hopes that the ACV would help him but my hopes where dashed the next morning when he woke up with his big toe very swollen and in pain. I felt awful! He had not even been having an attack when I got him to try the ACV and now here he was in lots of pain after taking the ACV.....Not only did he have an attack but where he usually only got it in his feet for the next six months its spread from his big toe to his knees and on up into his hand and then into his elbow. All in all the attacks came one after the other for six months. Half of the year he was in almost constant pain! Now he has a HUGE knot on his elbow because the attack there was the worst one.

I have never felt worse in my life watching him in so much pain and feeling that I caused it because it was my idea for him to try ACV. I was desperate to help him and started asking local pharmacies what to do for him and it just so happened that one of the owners happened to have gout himself and told me to get my husband some cherry concentrate, he said it helped him better then anything. I found some black cherry concentrate at a local _____ for twenty dollars and even though I was now weary of home remedies I figured it really couldnt hurt so I had my husband start drinking the cherry concentrate and i am so glad i did because after about a week his attack in his elbow receded and now two months later he hasnt had anymore attacks. He walks better then he has in a long time.
From what I have read on here it seems as if ACV has worked for many people but my advice to anyone that is thinking of trying it for gout is, Please be very careful and weigh all your options before trying ACV or at least start out in a very small dose.

Thank You

I was very skeptical when trying ACV but then what do I have to lose? Well after 3 days I'm limping worse than when I started ACV. Before I can limp around but now it seems like it's spread to other joints in my foot that I'm not able to even move around at all. I was doing 2 tbs 1 cup of water for 3 times a day and taking Shark Cartlidge pills. I have a Disney World trip with my family the end of May. I hope to God it is gone then so I've not given up on ACV just yet.

I read all of the success stories about apple cider vinegar and decided to try it on my boyfriend. His last gout attack lasted for several weeks and wanted to prevent any further ones. I gave him 2 teaspoons with an 8 oz. cup of water twice a day for two days. I was shocked when he woke up the following morning and had pain in his foot and elbow. I was devastated that I was the cause of it.

I've tried ACV for gout and have had zero success. Has anyone else not experienced all the salutory effects like myself? I'm thinking there may be other problems. Any ideas? I drink plenty of water, don't drink alcohol but do drink a venti Starbucks coffee every day. Sometimes I think these sites are created by the manufacturer's for their benefit. If you're reading this, well then my theory is flawed but any suggestions would help.
