Ten Diet Tweaks to Lose Weight for Life!

Lettuce

I had about 15 atleast gallbladder attacks in 2 weeks -hospitalized one night as well and they wanted to take out the gallbladder for my "diamonds" gallstones which I'd had for 16 yrs. at least with no probs. except very sick in my 4 pregnancies because of excess bile... The attacks started due to taking digestive enzymes for 2 days and then going off them. The attacks began the next night with coleslaw, sausages, and saurkraut ..but continued for the next 2 weeks pretty much whatever I ate. In my worst attack I practically crawled to the computer to earthclinic.com. The 1/2 cup lettuce cure came up with 2 yeas. Sent son running to store for it and 20 mins. later after eating the 1/2 c. I had complete relief. As one writer speculated that it stimulated the liver to produce digestive enzymes that would stop the body from calling on the gallbladder to produce digestive bile.. So for the next 24 hrs. I ate nothing but iceberg lettuce -lots of it - and slices of organic apple. The next day I tried out eating whatever I wanted which had caused attacks throughout the prev. 2 wks. (except the cabbage/sausages -bad memory!) Even McDonald's failed to give me an attack. I am so thrilled with this cure of course!

Hearing once recently that digestive enz help people lose a lot of weight, I wonder if the stimulation of the liver a couple times a day with particularly iceberg lettuce (as it's supposed to work the best rather than other lettuces) would be a natural weight loss cure as well? I know it seems to make less of the slight puff around my ankles -more definition. So it might also help with fluid retention. As well my new pretty set wrinkles of 6 mos. ago have almost completely disappeared within a few days of ingesting 3x per day atleast (vertical ones beneath my eyes -not the crow's feet). Try it and I'd love to hear your feedback as I'm a personal trainer and would love to see if it helps people lose weight -at least it brings down the glycemic index of each meal you eat it with some.

I've done juice fast several times with no problems. I've tried the master cleanse twice now. Both times the room was spinning by lunchtime, to the point I had to eat. Not to mention the cayenne turned my stomach something awful.

WARNING!

For last one week I am drinking cinnamon powder and honey in water to reduce fat in my body as per your advice. But after starting to do this I have started getting rash on my face and scratching of my eyes skin. Please advise me whether it is because of honey and cinnamon. My skin was always smooth without any rash or pimples.

Your problem w/ the cinnamon & ceylon honey sounds like you might have an allergy to one of the two ingredients.

Regarding your rash to cinnamon - I believe cinnamon is a lot like ginger in that energetically it moves toxins to the skin for removal from the body, vs. the bowels, kidneys, liver etc.

Hello Missy,
Today I bought from health store partially oxidized green tea that has qualities of both green and black tea. Hope it works for me. How long before you noticed the weight loss? Thanks.

Raw Food Diet

I am obese not from overeating, but due to stressors that I did not handle well and that caused a major stroke a year ago. Since then, I have made a major change in my diet even though I had eaten very well before without white flours, sugars and the other problem foods for many years. Now I am eating raw vegan foods and have not only finally dropped almost 40 pounds but my blood sugar levels are down to the mid-90s. I credit eating a raw food lifestyle with all this! My thyroid numbers are also in the more normal range! Lots of good changes that I believe eating a raw food lifestyle made happen.

Fenugreek

One of your contributors said that she had lost weight by taking the herb Fenugreek. I tried it for five days and couldn't stop eating and found that I'd put four pounds on in five days. And when I looked up Fenugreek I discovered that it is an appetite stimulant. So other readers please be aware.

I'm not questioning what the contributor said, because I think that we all react differently to what we intake. That was her experience and it rests there.

I recently went on holiday to China and Japan, and when I arrived back was struck with an overwhelming tiredness, and every bone in my body ached. Was it jet lag, I wondered, but the symptoms still continued, so I starting taking Apple Cider Vinegar, Maple Syrup, lemon juice, bi carb, and a dash of cayenne pepper. Within a couple of days I'd started to feel well again, and so have continued with this mixture, and I am amazed at the way it has increased my energy and well being.

However, I'm sorry to report there's been no weight loss!! Thanks for your web site. I do enjoy it!

Hi, I became obese after delivery. I tried honey and cinnamon remedy for obesity which was explained by 2 readers. I boiled the water and added honey and cinnamon powder. But after a little cooling water turned into a little sticky fluid (ex: like grease) and was unable to drink. Anyhow i consumed it. But after drinking i felt vomiting sensation and some uneasyness in the stomach. can you please help me by explaining the correct procedure of this remedy. Thanks in advance.

To answer your question about the honey and cinnamon remedy, Hema:

Put the cinnamon and honey together and make a paste. Let that sit for half an hour or so, then add the boiling water and stir. Cover the mixture for another half hour, let it stand; then filter the mixture, and you have your tea. Drink half in the morning, half an hour before breakfast, and half at night, right before bed. Any kind of honey and cinnamon will do. Hope that helps.

Boiling water will kill what is good in honey. Do not add boiling water or microwave.

You have to filter the cinnamon from the water as best you can. I too felt a little sick after.

I did the Master Cleanse Lemonade diet for both detoxing and weight loss. My first time out I remained on the lemonade for 21 days. I lost a total of 22 lbs and have kept it off no problem. I have done shorter periods on the lemonade and found that only going at least 21 days resulted in permanent weight loss. The first week is really just your body getting rid of water and toxins so you'll gain that weight back if you stop at just one week. The longer you can remain on the program the greater your detoxing and weight loss results will be. My eyes went from permanently bloodshot to bright white while on the lemonade. I had a ton of energy and no brain fog. One thing to note, if you suspect you may be someone with very low histamine levels this may not be for you. I have low histamine levels (histapenia) and I believe this diet lowers them ever further. I became very short tempered and testy during certain points in the fast. If you are interested look for Stanley Burroughs' book about the Master Cleanser fast

The Lemonade Cleanse. I lost 25 pounds. You take the juice of half a lemon, real genuine maple syrup grade A,B or C, (not the fake kind. 1/10th of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper. You mix that in with 10 oz of water. You drink this anywhere from 6 to 10 times a day. You don't eat anything else. The only other thing you want to take is an herbal lexative tea, and a salt bath. Drink the herbal lexative tea every night before you go to bed, then the salt bath every morning when you wake up. The recipe for the salt bath is 2 teaspoons of sea salt mixed in with a quart of luke warm water. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time before you leave the house, because after drinking the salt water mixture you will be going potty for about 2 hours. I'd buy the booThe Master Cleanser Book by Stanley Burroughs. This book explains the process and answers all your questions. You have to go on the diet for atleast ten days. I really gotta say, it cured my acid indigestion, depression, and all kinds of other things that were wrong with me. I'd reccommend it to anybody.

If you're diabetic you would use Molasses instead of the maple syrup. Just research it first, then go for it.

It has only been four days, but man, what a difference!!

ACV and Coconut Oil

12/2/07 Nelson wrote that he takes 1 Tlbs of Coconut oil in the am and in the pm and drinks water with ACV throughout the day. How should the oil be taken?? Mixed with something? How much ACV to how much water and how often? Can you drink too much AVC a day? Thank you!

ACV and Coconut Oil
Posted by Citygirl27 (Richardson, Tx, Usa) on 10/14/2012

One tablespoon of virgin cocout oil (VCO) at a time with a food or drink product as described should not be a problem for anyone, unless you have pre-existing bowel issues. Starting with less VCO would only be helpful in those situations, or if you are taking it solo (not what I described). You need at least a tablespoon of VCO at a time before you will see health benefits.

Lemon and Honey Cure

I have heard about lemon & Honey cures from my over 110 year old grand-grandmother in Bosnia. I was overweight as a child and after starting to drink Lemon and honey tea (juice of ½-1 lemon, little honey and warm water) every morning my whole system has changed. My weight has dropped and I never had a problem with it since. I cant remember the last time I had a cold or flue. Another thing that she told me to do was: When a person feels a cold or flue coming on, to use the juice of 3 lemons and add 5-6 big tablespoons of good honey, mix it well and drink it. I know it sounds horrible, however I can swear by it. I newer got sick.

Hello! The last 2 years of college i have gained about 15 pounds that i have been trying to lose and it's been so HARD! I don't know why i can't lose these last few pounds. I weigh about 138-140ish and want to be back down to 125 (I'm not even 5'4) So, it's not unreasonable- since i'm not that big of a person. I read all of these amazing testimonies of ACV - but most of the people had somewhat significant weightloss needs and were quite over weight - does this work for "normal" people who only have 15-20lbs to lose? How did you lose your weight? how much AVC and when did you drink it?

Kimchee

I tried eating the Korean food, Kimchee after learning about it in school. It turns out that Kimchee contains a good bacteria called lactobacilli that helps the stomach the same way ACV does. It is also considered as one of the most healthiest food in the world by the Health Magazine. You can buy Kimchee on the Oriental section of US supermarkets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kimchi

WARNING!

I read the comment about kimchee being a healthy food. I personally like kimchee but if you look at the ingredients of kimchee and Korean foods in generally, it is loaded with MSG, which is poison to the body. So beware; look for a brand without MSG.

I am allergic to MSG but I love Kimchee. There are MSG free versions of Kimchee available in local stores. Just be mindful to read the labels. Kimchee is definitely not a low sodium food, but the MSG free is a better option for salt content.

It is also easy to make your own Kim Chee - and much less expensive, too. Nourishing Traditions cookbook by Sally Fallon and Mary Enig, PhD have a recipe for it, and you could probably find some online, too, and in other cookbooks. Also, it is interesting to know that you can make it with or without salts and starters. A strictly therapeutic raw food version, for example, will not include any salt. Others use salt routinely as a backup safety measure, in case bad bacteria try to proliferate before the good lactobaccili really get going. You can also buy commercial starters that help jumpstart the good bacteria, too. And some recipes mix a little salt with a little starter. But it can be done successfully without any additives at all, just sayin. I've helped make it that way before, and eaten lots of it at a spa where it is a daily feature on the menu, (sauerkraut, actually, without the spices and hot produce that make it the version known as kim chee). It's all the same idea, really good for you. I met a man who cured his cancer (prostate) with a raw food diet, but he ate about a quart of sauerkraut every day, loved it. And for a 70+yo guy, he had great skin. Actually, I know women in their 40's who would wish for his skin, lol! He's had his cancer licked for many years when I met him. I learned that these fermented veggies are great detoxifiers, so it makes sense that they are good for weight loss. They also contain something that, when combined with cooked meats, turns the carcinogenic part of cooked meats into harmless and easily used amino acids. COOL!
