Ten Diet Tweaks to Lose Weight for Life!

Hunger
Posted by Nicole (Sydney, Australia) on 05/08/2013

I seem to have an ongoing issue which I thought I would put out there to see if anyone can offer assistance.

I am constantly hungry.

I eat good food (I'm a vegetarian and I eat a lot of nuts and fresh fruit and veg) I try to get protein in every mean and yet still, after eating till I'm full - half an hour later I feel hungry again. I don't give into temptation because I feel that this will just lead to bigger issues but I can't understand why I'm feeling hungry all the time.

Just as a side note : when I feel hungry I try drinking some water with Spirulina but it doesn't really help.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Nicole

Sounds like you may be not getting enough fat in your diet. Try eating more walnuts or more butter on your vegetables. You need the fat... Your gallbladder needs fat to contract. B vitamins also stimulate appetite.

Hunger
Posted by Caitlin (Austin, Tx) on 05/08/2013

Sure! Are you eating enough? Perhaps your body is crying out for more nutrients you are not presently giving it in the food you regularly eat. You can try 2 things: 1. Up your fat intake. Try butter or coconut oil. Start with a teaspoon after a meal and see if this does not help. Or, 2. you may need more protein than you are getting. Have you been checked for iron or B deficiencies? If you are eating a lot of beans & grains, you could be stifling your body's ability to absorb certain nutrients in your food. I would get a nutrient/mineral deficiency analysis first. Also, check for worms -- can happen. But, I'm betting you need more good fats and protein in your diet. I was once vegetarian and felt extroardinary for about 6 months; then sheer tiredness consumed me. Ate a piece of meat --! Boing! It was as if a switch had flipped on in my body. An "Aha" moment, for sure. Turns out I had anemia, despite paying close attention to getting enough supposedly high protein from veggies (beans, grains, salads, etc. ) and fruit matter. You can't beat even an occassional meat meal for upping iron and getting those A, C, B-vitamins our bodies need. Remember, meat packs the most nutrients of any food in one package. So once-a-week meat or eggs may be your ticket. Others, I'm sure, will think differantly, but I have found this to be true for me.

Hi again Nicole--I thought it was important to tell you fat slows down/prolongs digestion. If you are eating enough protein and fat this is supposed to prevent the constant hunger. It sounds like something is out of balance. What is your age?

Hunger
Posted by Kathy (the USA) on 05/08/2013

I agree with Caitlin. Would still like to know your age. How long have you been a vegan? Parasites could very well be the problem. Everyone has them but garlic helps getting rid of them. Somewhere here in EC it was posted four cloves a day.

I agree with Joy... I asked your age to know how long you may have been harboring them even though I thought vegans ate garlic and onion for that reason. Check the directories here under "Ailments" and "Remedies" if you haven't already.

Hi Guys, I'm 30 years old and have been a vegetarian since I was 16. I guess I'm unsure of just how much fat I should be consuming - I eat an avocado every other day and a handful (or 2) of almonds after lunch sometimes. I never through about having worms but will definitely get this checked out.

I take a lot of supplements as my initial thoughts when the constant hunger started was that my body was craving nutrients, maybe the suppliments aren't sufficient? (out of general interest I take a mulit, Iron, vit b, magnesium, maca, kelp, Q10 and spirulina at different points throughout the day)

I have just bought some coconut old (because everyone seems to rave about it's benefits) and will start taking this after every mean - Just one teaspoon?

Thanks for all the advise guys, I love this website.

In reviewing this thread... I'm sure I mentioned ACV but in constant editing I must have deleted it. Take some ACV after each meal. The longer you could have been harboring any parasite or tape worm, it may take longer to get rid of it/them. I don't know, but If you have a PCP maybe a good antibiotic would totally eliminate and then you could start over with preventitive care.

Because of what is happening to our food supply, I'd stop the supplements and cook all vegetables until tender so you obtain beneficial assimilation. No long term studies to show whether the binders and/or fillers could be countering the active ingredient. The vitamins/supplements that haven't been made from synthetic material are more than likely manufactured from plants that have been genetically modified and are harder to digest. This can create a double whammy for any ailment because this has been going on for over fifty years. I have to have animal protein but even that is tainted because those critters are being fed the same. I would again like to support what Caitlin suggested.

A friend of mine, many years ago, went to the salad bar with her coworker for lunch.

A week or so later, I can't remember exact. She was rushed to emergency room with systems shutting down, kidney , liver, heart , respiration , and they ran a battery of tests. They didn't find anything but told her plan for her end. I don't remember all the details but the coworker then fell ill with the same problems and they put the two together and it was worms from the salad bar. SHOCKING .

My friend deworms herself regularly now.

I wanted to add taking a probiotic after a course of antibiotics would be important to replace the beneficial flora antibiotics destroy. Is it because I mentioned a PCP and antibiotic? I know this site is for alternative medicine but I believe some things go on too long and people get too desperate to have the time to read books for help. They come here for help NOW and as harmful as antibiotics can be they can still knock out the worst symptoms so someone could feel well enough to start over, eating to repair then advance to preventative care. I apologize for being so piecemeal but that is part of the problem from severe brain injuries. I'll stop posting because I cannot always be thorough.

I read a lot but don't know where I read this maybe Hulda Clark, I bought a cleanse from them but couldn't tolerate 16 clove caps a day... I think I made it to day 8 or 10 and felt sick.... Never did see any parasites... but I gave it a good go.

there was a baby with a cough and they couldn't find the source... Anyway... May have been another country she lived in.... The doc took the tongue stick and light and saw something move back there. He began to roll this worm onto the stick and it rolled and rolled and rolled and turned out to be the length of the child long... YUK. Poor baby.

I do believe that if a person drinks a cup of water half an hour before the meal then the body can DUMP THE ACID into the stomach/intestines to process the food.

Without the water it would be dangerous for the body to dump those acids in there, it would eat a hole in the stomach lining....

Drink 1-2 cups water half hour before meals to have the right amount of acid and water for the stomach and bowels to process the nutrients and the acid should kill parasties on cantact. Love, joy

I do not believe the hydrochloric acid in the stomach kills all parasites. They can bypass the stomach and attach to the walls of the intestines/colon/rectum.

I guess I need to put it another way. Because our "engineered" food cannot be digested properly, the parasites, in whatever stage they are in can be harbored until they get farther down the digestive tract. Alternating garlic and ACV can help get rid of them unless they have proliferated to require antibiotics to kill all stages. Sometimes that is necessary. Probiotics can restore what has been destroyed by the antibiotics. Then eat for prevention.

I am trying to share what I have learned from sources that are not being offered to (and being sheltered from) the medical profession. With all due respect they just do not know what is happening to our food supply. This is why I am "sad".

My communication skills are not good and it is difficult to provide every ounce of support to what I have learned. I have learned a lot of piecemeal information for over twenty years by application and want to provide what I have learned by observation and experience.

In addition, food is not the only way parasites can enter the body.

Babesia is a dreadful parasite that goes into the blood stream and attacks the brain. My friend's sister is a teacher and during the summer some mice got in her class and she was cleaning the room for the fall quarter and got this. She is fighting for her life.... Doctors do not have answers... She has lyme like symptoms, plus more... Body tremors, seizures - grand mal style, has to use a cart, fibromyalgia type muscle pains and weaknesses, tingling, brain memory issues and she has a master's degree in education and is bilingual. Her meds run 5 k a month and she is still ambulanced to the hospital on regular schedule.

VERY SCARY! She didn't eat this, it entered her airway.

hi everyone... Hoping someone will know what is going on. In an effort to lose weight slowly but healthfully, I have been blending organic greens and 2 small organic apples with water and chia seeds and drinking this green smoothie twice a day since Tuesday. I am also eating other foods, but in small quantities. Yesterday, Thursday, I started to have muscle aches and a slight headache that comes and goes. I was up most of the night with waves of pain throughout my body. Feels like what you get right before the flu hits. I think I must be detoxing but am very surprised that this is happening just with dark leafy greens and apples! Can anyone recommend the best course of action? I do wonder if it's fluoride being detoxed too quickly from my body. I am supplementing with lugol's iodine by the way and plan to take vitamin c. Thank you very much in advance!

My guess is that it's a herx reaction and you are detoxing quickly. You can power through and suffer with the reaction or you can ease up on your regimen and take things more slowly. Others might have other ideas. Whenever I try something new to detox, there's a period of suffering with increased symptoms at the beginning, unfortunately...

Fiber Supplement

Hi everyone! I don't believe I am supposed to post a brand name here so I will leave that up to the powers that be. I don't like promoting anyones brands at the best of times. But usually that's cause I am never convinced that anything actually does the trick. I have found something that works for me, and has been working for many friends and family members. A fiber supplement made here in Canada. I bought mine at Walmart and wasn't expecting much. Have tried all the diet aids out there. Most of them made me feel spinny or grumpy. Like a form of speed. This product though is JUST fiber. It takes a bit of getting used to, and I had to start taking a digestive enzyme to help my tummy with getting used to this much fiber. The fiber turns to gel when you drink a lot of water. Something that you must do with this stuff. What's so cool about it is it makes my tummy feel full. I started out taking 2 capsules 1 hour before each of my two meals a day. I noticed I am not hungry in between meals. I feel full before I even attempt to eat so I naturally am eating way less. And I am not craving bad stuff or obsessing about food like I was before. I am certainly pooing a lot more, Sorry if that's too much info. I am just thrilled that something is working for me. I eat right and work out as much as I can with a knee injury. These last 30 pounds were not coming off, Being close to 50 yrs old prob isn't helping. I hope this info helps some of you as it is helping me. And I apologize for posting the product name. If its not allowed, maybe there is some other way to make the information available to people who could benefit from this amazing find. I have lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks, and haven't changed anything else. Still eating healthy food as I always am. I was getting so frustrated at not being able to use my treadmill due to a lingering knee injury. Fibroids and a sluggish thyroid make it almost impossible for me to lose weight. Iodine gave my thyroid a little help, but it was this fiber that got the pounds moving. Good luck everyone. It's an amazing discovery. Hope it helps you all too. Sammy

Lecithin
Posted by Citygirl27 (Richardson, Tx, Usa) on 06/18/2012

Just wanting to know, has anyone lost any weight while using lecithin? I am using the examples presented and logic to believe it could be successful in weight loss. I have the granulated soy lecithin on order, arriving soon. I have no prob with soy products, I drink soy milk daily. I would like to hear from anyone who has lost weight, even as a side effect or unexpectedly, while using Lecithin.

Lecithin
Posted by Louwrence (Rustenburg, North West, South Africa) on 06/19/2012

Hi Citigirl27, You probably have extra weight because of your soy consumption because soy products contain a lot of phytoestrogen & leads to estrogen dominance & leads to weight gain. Only way to take soy is in its fermented form then its chemical commposition is changed & you only have a small portion/meal. Look up estrogen dominance on the net & you will have a better understanding what you are dealing with.

Lecithin
Posted by Citygirl27 (Richardson, Tx, Usa) on 06/19/2012

I am very familiar with soy and all of its benefits and implications. I have had weight issues way before I ever ate anything soy (my whole life since birth/vaccination), and have not gained any since beginning my soy regime -in fact I have lost a few, so it is nothing to do with soy. Let's keep this on the topic of Lecithin.

Lecithin
Posted by Tina (Houston, Usa) on 06/19/2012

Hello Citygirl27 from Richardson, Tx, Usa, Be VERY careful with soy consumption especially in this day and age where soy is found as non-GMO, and is extremely harmful to one's health.

Only if you find non-GMO, fermented soy you can consume safely once weekly. Otherwise it messes with your hormones and causes weight gain.

Please research / google before you begin the lecithin regime. Better to have a few extra pounds than consume a nasty substance.

Lecithin
Posted by Citygirl27 (Richardson, Tx, Usa) on 06/19/2012

You have a valid point for everyone. Watch out for the GMO soy. I use organic soy products that are labelled as non GMO. I wish I had a "few" extra pounds, it is a lot more than that and does not respond to calorie reduction and exercise. Would like to hear from anyone who has experienced weight loss, unintentional or not, with lecithin of any variety.

Lecithin
Posted by Louwrence (Rustenburg, North West, South Africa) on 06/22/2012

Hi Citigirl, If soy is not causing the weight gain, it must be starches in all its forms, because overweight people are sensitive to starches & are fast oxidisers & must stick to protein & veggies. Look up Metabolic Typing it could help you a lot, because then you will know in which direction to go. You will have to send a sample of your hair to be analised.

Still looking for answers from anyone who has experienced weight loss with lecithin. Let's try to keep replies on this topic. Still haven't had one reply on topic yet. Who has used lecithin before and noticed a drop in weight?

FYI I do not have extra weight "due to soy consumption". I have been overweight my whole life since puberty. I have a damaged hypothalamus (metastat) due to childhood seizures and seizure drugs. Let's not be jupming to conclusions. As it happens, I have switched to almond and coconut milks for the last year, with no effect either way. This isn't about me, however, the discussion is about weight loss with lecithin.

Posted by Natalie (Geelong, Australia) on 09/11/2014

Hi there,
I'm no expert but ironically have just been reading up on soy products and the effects they can have in our bodies. According to a few sources it contains the hormone eostrogen, the female hormone which can encourage the body to hold onto fat. What is your understanding of soy lecithin regarding positive effects for weight loss? I'm familiar with this as an ingredient included in sugar free chocolate. I've always avoided it and anything soy related ever since I underwent some training on acne management, learning it can trigger flare ups. I worry about encouragement of any increase of hormones in the body, mainly due to a higher risk of cancer. Interested in the theory of soy promoting weight loss! - Nat

I actually receive emails from Earth clinic and I put them in my emails to keep and reply or read them when I have more time. I happen to check every email from Earth clinic as my email list was really piling up and saw someone talk about weight loss with eggs? So I came online to Earth clinic and so far I have spent hours reading about ACV and weight loss but nothing about eggs yet? However, I spent hours reading and noticed Stella mentioning she had a craving for salt? Which surprised me at the time of reading, because I don't know if people are aware of it, but I found out quite a while back on Earth clinic another reviewer stating that ACV REMOVES EXCESS SALT FROM YOUR BODY WHEN YOU SLEEP HENCE NO BAGS THE NEXT MORNING? OH BRILLIANT I THOUGHT LOL However, Stella's message was from 2012, and MC from Texas, kindly told Stella the reason even though she may not have returned to Earth clinic? I was very pleased to hear that NM Gave an explanation as to why Stella might be craving salt? And they say it is because Potassium in orange juice craves salt? So if you don't take orange juice you might remove excess salt when you sleep and if you use orange juice with ACV you might crave salt? Very interesting to know! Because I like Stella don't like salt either and never have. So I thought I would mention it here, because it seems you might lose the bags under your eyes! Another health benefit! Yup I am all for that. Thanks NM!! Rosina Lock from East London

You are losing the height because the excess weight is compacting on your joints to make you shorter. Once you loose the weight as long as there is not permanent issues with your joints you should gain the inches you lost in your height back. Good luck with the weight loss. I am doing the same as you working to get the extra off.

It is true that fast foods are bad for health and the most dreadful effects of them is that they slow down the work of your immune system. I used to eat a lot and gained some 30lbs of weight and suffered of many diseases due to improper immune system. My wife advised me eat natural food and workout in the gym. I am perfectly alright now. Anyways your article is quite good and justifies all the points that you have discussed. Thanks for such a detailed explanation!

what helped me bigtime was....

(1) 12 oz glass green juice (veggies only) each morning.

fage yoghurt for breakfast with nuts (high in protein and good fats, keeps you full).

incorporating more raw foods in my daily intake.

cut out all soda, all chemical sweetners, all grains, all fruits until you have lost the weight and then you can add gradually to your daily intake.

hope this helps, t

Urine Therapy

Interesting post. I haven't actually read a book about urine therapy so far but I would be curious as whether you could answer this question which I have posted several times already. I would be afraid to try to drink urine because of the fact that when you go for an urine test they see whether you are ill by what comes out of your body. Wouldn't you be drinking it again? Take a bladder infection for example, would you want to drink what comes out? By the way, maybe it would be good if you could post your comments on the book your read on the book review page? I am looking for a good one if ever I decide to give it a try.

Urine Therapy
Posted by Yogagirl (Orange County, Ca) on 05/25/2011

That's a great question, and one that was covered very thoroughly in the book, The Water of Life. J W Armstrong, the author, advocated drinking the urine in whatever condition it was in on leaving the body. It could be cloudy, bloody, it didn't really matter. In one case, a patient with heavy fluid buildup in his body was unable to produce any urine, so the author provided his own urine for the patient to drink, and that primed the pump, so to speak, and the patient was then able to urinate in great quantity.

The author's mode of treatment was to put the patient on a urine fast to cleanse the body and urine massages to cleanse the skin. The patient was required to drink all of the urine that was produced and as much water as the patient cared to drink, and that was it, until the body had cleansed itself and recovered. The urine ran clear when the patient had recovered.

After you see the benefit of urine therapy, you stop thinking of it as a waste product and start thinking of it as a natural resource. After all, urine is what is running through our veins, prior to being filtered through the kidneys and expelled.

Normal human blood pH is 7.35-7.45. Therefore 7.11 is too acidic. Our blood is slightly alkaline.

My experience wasn't that severe, but I had a really bad experience with master cleanse too. I got so weak, my whole body was shaking, I was sick like never in my life. Maybe those are detox symptoms, but such detox is way to hard on the body, I think. There is simply no quick fix, balance is the key.

Posted by Van (Sunnyvale, Ca, Usa) on 10/06/2011

Errrmmm...I have a natural PH of 6.25-6.5 and I NEVER had any major issues. Rarely get sick. My skin is perfect too. All my medical test pass flying colors. Healthy as a horse. So 7.11 is not too acidic and that is not the issue.

Perhaps there was issues with the source of your water or lemons. I am wondering if you used organic lemons or the cheap kind or had any household chemicals laying around. Like the lemon might have fallen on the floor, table, etc, etc. Might of been a chemical reaction with something else inside your body.

I had a friend who did the lemon cleanse and lost 20lbs in one month. No health issues. I personally don't like to side on extremes. South beach works for me.

Also, if your Master Cleanse consists of chemicals like Borax I wouldn't recommend it because there is food grade and household uses grade which is dangerous according to my materials data sheet.

The master cleanse I know is just water (not distilled), organic lemons, cayenne peppers and maple syrup.

I just thought I'd check back and see if there were any responses to my "nay" on the master cleanse. There are a couple of people who are confused, and I forget, not everyone is medical minded, and I should have stated my PH was NOT my urine PH. A normal urine Ph CAN be anywhere from 4.8 to 8. That is correct. However, the Ph I was referring to was my ABG results. An ABG is an arterial blood gas. Blood is drawn directly from your artery. 7.11 is dangerously low for a Ph and I scared alot of people that night, not only at the hospital but my family members :-(. Frequently, a person with a Ph of less then 7. 20 (arterial) is a strong candidate for a ventilator (a machine that breathes for you)... So 7.11 REALLY did freak some people out, including myself. Also, I DID use ALL organic lemons, maple syrup, distilled water etc. This diet is just NOT for everyone. Please be careful!

Do you have abnormal testosterone levels? If something is off - your whole endocrine will have issues. Check your Free T3 and Free T4 thyroid levels. The FT3 hormone is your main source of metobolism

Hi, just wondered if you could speak more about what to do for low testosterone levels, and low hormone levels in general? I have low EVERYTHING right now (after two children, breastfeeding, etc. ), and no trace of cortisol at all! I was put on a low level of cortisol, and am working on consistency with herbs to help my adrenals (which have been deficient for years and years... ), but any other advice or recommendations would be wonderful! My energy is so low, and I am chronically fatigued, struggle with candida, etc. Thanks!!

I need to lose 20 pounds and have tried everything, exercise, dieting- nothing helps. I'll lose a few pounds then gain it back without changing anything. I have been trying the ACV (2 tbsp per 16 oz drank throughout day)that I saw on this site for about a week but have seen no change. I have also taken EV Coconut Oil (and cut fat & calories from my diet to make up for it). I am taking antidepressants and had my gall bladder removed and was wondering if either of these factors could be contributing to the inability to lose weight. I also have Epstein Barr and fibromyalgia so I have been taking vitamins as well as COQ10 & L-Carnatine for about a year just to have some energy. Any suggestions? Getting this weight off is really important to me, I'll try anything at this point. Thanks.

Hi Cara.. I just wanted to ask if you are gluten free/dairy free yet? I have FMS, and supplements and everything else won't do me any good if I am eating foods that inflame the body. With FMS, gluten and dairy are super harmful and should be eliminated for life. Try it.. You will feel much better!

I would check the side effects of the antidepressants. I too, have been dealing with some of your health issues, including weight. For me, I had to be satisfied that I was taking a whole food diet. That means fresh perishable foods. Also, mostly just plain, loose green tea in the am, and then only water or lemon water. Recently, I've tried MMS and colodial silver, and the weight has been reducing, as well as an increase in energy. You should read up on the alkalising drink, because it's imperative to keep your PH at about 7, or 7.25. When people ask me for supplements, (I guess they see I've improved) I always tell them about raising the PH, before I tell them anything else. The body heals with a neutral (7) PH.
