I would definitely say that this is a miracle cure!! I have suffered with BV for about 2 years. I did the whole doctor visit and the $50 prescription that DID NOT work. I finally decided to do some searching on my own and stumbled across this site. Soon as I read all the comments I went straight out and bought the hydrogen peroxide and the probiotics. I did the peroxide douche as soon as I got home, and then right before I went to bed. The next day there was barely any discharge and the smell was gone. I did the douche once more that evening and I am cured!! No discharge or smell! I am so relieved that I found this site. I feel so much better about myself and am glad that I am over this awful dilema.

I was first diagnosed with BV when I was 18... Nothing worked to cure it. I too was on antibiotics and finally told there was no cure. I was desperate and sick of having it. When I turned 30 I stumbled upon a remedy similar to the one above. I used the douch for a week 3x's a day. Instead of taking the folic acid orally I inserted the dose 2x's a day into the vagina after each douch. I took the recommended dose of acidiphillous orally. I finished the bottle of probiotics and that's it. Two years later the BV still hasn't come back!

I CANNOT thank everyone who contributed to the BV Cure thread and spoke about their issues. I believe my issues have been going on and off for over ten years; BTW, I am not even thirty. I contribute the bulk of my issues to sex & BCP.

This had become so much of an issue, I was wearing liners everyday and the smell was so embarrassing.

I first douched with one part water to one part hydrogen peroxide. The smell was evident and there was some stinging but I could tell it was working. The first few days I took double dosages of Folic & Acidiphilous.

By day two, there was very little discharge throughout a whole day and virtually no smell. Almost a week later, everything is gone. On top of that, my skin seems to be more receptive to perfums and my body will carry the scent longer (than what I am used too). Not sure if that is related.

Now, I try to douche every 3 days with the hydrogen peroxide and water mix. On off days, I will shower and my private area with peroxide. And I typically will use peroxide wipes during bathroom visits.

I am just relieved to know I am not plagued with this issue!

All I can say is AMAZING!!! Seems like for the past 2 years, any little things has been throwing me Ph off; even different types of spermicide from condoms. I would be so embarrassed when I would have to go to the doctor smelling like any pond in a local park (smyl). Last night I came across this website and began to read the posts. Ironically, I started noticing the smell two days prior. After reading the posts I immediately rushed to Walgreens where I purchased 800 mcg of Folic Acid, probiotic Acidiphollus and 3% peroxide. Upon returning home I mixed half water and half peroxide in a summer's eve container and douched twice. I waited approximately one hour for results of any kind. All I can say is WOW!!!! The discharge was gone, and the smell was VERY minimal (if you didn't know what u were looking for u wouldn't think there was a smell at all). I then took 1 800mcg Folic Acid pill and 1 Acidiphollus pill. It is now 10:42 a.m. and the smell and discharge is GONE!!!! I just took another dose of the pills after finishing breakfast and now I'm posting my comments. I never really belived in reading blogs and such but I'm so happy I did. I want to thank everyone for sharing this cheap, EFFECTIVE, home remedy as it has helped me tremendously. I plan to take the dosage of pills for the next week to ensure that my vagina in normally balanced; then I may consider taking them twice a week. Thanks to everyone who started Earth CLinic and thanks again to everyone who shared the remedy. I encourage any female with this problem to please try the remedy. What do you have to lose. THIS REALLY WORKS!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL AND MAY GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU!!!

I came across this website after searching endlessly for a cure for Bacteria Vaginosis. The culture test came back with Heavy Gardenella, which is BV. I've have this horrible smell and itch for 2 years. My bf noticed, and obviously he complained. So the doctor prescribed me metrogel, which worked... but it came back after 4 weeks!! Dammit! Again, I went to see him and complained, and he prescribed it again. I didn't use it this time... I had to give Folic Acid and Acidophilus a shot! As soon as I read this, I went to CVS and bought Folic Acid 800mcg, Acidophilus probiotic and last by not least 3% Hydrogen Peroxide to wash down there with water. Just the first day I drank the pills and immediately the discharge was no longer watery, the smell went away, and the itch was gone!!!!!!! My GOD MY GOD why didn't the doctor tell me that all I needed was some good bacteria to fix my imbalance. This definitely restored my immune system and my LIFE BACK! I can't emphasize how joyful I feel, and I can finally say that my bf was incredibly happy and supportive. I now can celebrate christmas and new years with joy, instead of sadness. GOD BLESS YOU ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS THAT HELPED ME RESTORE MY LIFE AND MY DEPRESSION IS GONE!

Alleyuia ! Thank God for this website. I too suffered from BV,10 years now. I visited with so many dr's and not one of them could give me a alternative. No explanations to why the imbalance, or how can I restore it.No, no,just a prescription knowing that you will be back. There was one dr that told me "it's impossible for you too have so many" how do you know that it's BV. Did he not hear me when I said that I have suffered with it for 10 yrs? You'd think I know, dah, anyhoo, after reading testimonials, I decided heck, what do I have to lose except for BV, so I tried the 1/2 & 1/2 water and peroxide& water,in the morning, plus folic acid & acidophillis (orally). My goodness what a difference, Thank You all for your suggestions, I pray that it will help others like myself... God Bless You Ladies...

Since H2O2 kills normal tissue as well as diseased tissue, I question the use of H2O2 douches for bacterial vaginosis.

Can you please give us a scientific study that demonstrates this? My understanding is that it is a recommended treatment for wound care/sterilization. And in my product pamphlet for the Hydrogen Peroxide, and my dentist's recommendation, is can be used, diluted, as a mouth wash. Where does your understanding of flesh killing come from? Thank you. One of the problems with self-diagnosis is that if you have a different kind of vaginal infection the peroxide may not work.

BV is a complex mix of anaerobic bacteria and it sounds like your mix did not die off with peroxide! I recommend seeing a doctor and getting tested.

HELP

I have had Bv for a couple of months, and have only realised that it actually is bv. Before going to the gyn I have decided to do the tampon hydrogen peroxide method. I've been doing it for 2 nights now, the first night was half HP half water solution, and left me feeling quite dry, but very little odour, I tried it again last night, but this time full HP solution. I did it just before bed, and fell asleep with it in by accident for 4 hours.. when I took it out, the inside of my vagina was swollen and felt a bit of discomfort, today, my vagina has been excreting a watery discharge that is a little yellow in colour, but no swollen discomfort or strong odour. Should I stop this method or keep trying? I only want to leave in the tampon for 20-30 minutes but last night was an accident

I have recurrent bv and have tried pretty much everything except the boric acid. Nothing worked. Went to three different doctors and they all kept prescribing the same thing ... 7 days Flagg/metranidazole and clindamyckn for the yeast infection that would surely follow. I explained over and over again that the antibiotics only provided temporary relief. Two months max. They didn't offer any other solutions. I took matters into my own hands and started doing one part hydrogen peroxide (3%) and one part water. Such a relief after the first time. After three days No odor, no discharge, no itch. I started taking a probiotic 8 days ago, hopefully they will help keep the situation at bay.

The doctor won't tell you about it because those are natural remedies. Regular doctors are there to help pharmaceutical companies to make money. The spray you mentioned won't work. You buy the package of vaginal douche and empty the bottle, rinse and ad the half water and half H. Peroxide the brown bottle no matter the % because it would work the same. lean back, hold it for as long as you can then push, then continue with the rest of the treatment. You need also to eat garlic 2,3 cloves daily that will help the bacteria to stop growing. Make sure to cut it very small because the taste is very unpleasant. Good luck!

It's so silly they prescribe antibiotics for this!!! Antibiotics just KILL more bacteria, and often cause BV in the first place. Super backwards. Most people aren't aware of what they're doing to their bodies when taking antibiotics though, and I only have become aware in the past 5 years because of being diagnosed with colitis.

I am suffering from BV for about three months now. I have gone to the doctor twice and have been put on two antibiotics and the problem goes away while I am on the medicine but comes back like the very next day. My doctor has done cultures on me and has confirmed it is vb. When I called yesterday to tell her nurse that my problem has came back for the third time now, she called me in some vaginal cream (I cant remember the name of it but I was to apply it twice a day for two weeks.) When I went to the pharmacy to get it, they told me it would be $96. That's when I decided not to buy it and I started doing research on home remedies and came across this post. I have some questions because I have never used a douche before and I don't know the proper ratio of water to hydrogen peroxide. I have also read some people have kept the liquid in for between 30min-1hour. How exactly do you "hold it in?" I thought that it came out when you rinsed it out? I don't know a lot about this stuff so if someone could give me better directions on how this works it would be greatly appreciated.

I have been regularly struggling with BV for about 8 years now. I have had countless rounds of antibiotics, oral and vaginal, and the problem goes away but persistently comes back after I have sex. After reading some of the stories on this site, I see that a lot of women regularly struggle with BV even after antibiotic treatment. Personally, I am usually fine after treatment but it's just until I am sexually active again that it comes back. It is such a pain! I have also tried a few at home remedies and nothing ever does the trick. I'm going to try the peroxide soaked tampon in hopes of it clearing up without a doctor visit. I wish that there was a way I could keep it from coming back even after sexual activity! HERE'S TO HOPING!

Taking antibiotics destroys the bad AND good bacteria in your body. The good bacteria keep the bad in check, including yeast. Read up on probiotics and perhaps a diet adjustment.

I saw on this site that hydrogen peroxide was helping a lot of women combat vaginosis and I have had it off and on for about a month and a half to two months and it has been the most miserable time of my life. So, I was desperate for any kind of cure. I saw that people were using a half and half mixture of peroxide to water and using that as a douche. I bought a vinegar and water douche from target, emptied out the contents, filled it halfway with water and the other half with peroxide. I did this for three nights straight, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Today is Friday and this is the first time I'm starting to get that awful, fishy smelling discharge again. The smell isn't nearly as strong as it used to be nor is the discharge amount nearly as much as it used to be, but it is still unfortunately still present. Maybe I need to douche for more than three consecutive days? I am going to leave it alone during the weekend and see if anything progresses on it's own. I might have to try this again on Monday and go for an entire week.

This is a bit of silly question, but did you wring out the tampon and use an applicator after soaking it in peroxide in order to insert?

I can't seem to get one to reduce back into an appropriate size for insertion after soaking or coating. -_-

Hydrogen Peroxide
Posted by Cece (Texas) on 10/20/2015

I don't know if you still need an answer, but when I do this, I just squeeze the excess liquid out from the tampon a bit, then insert it. Whatever liquid squeezes out during insertion is fine, but I try to keep in as much as possible.

I tried the hydrogen peroxide remedy for BV, I am happy to say that it works. Equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water I use a super tampon and soaked it. I put in my vagina for 1hour then removed and the odor was completely gone. I will repeat for the next 7 days by usinga one soaked tampon in the morning and one at night until all BV symptoms are gone. This has made me so happy. No women wants to walk around feeling uncomfortable about her smell. Thank you and good luck.

I been suffering with bv for the last year. It can be very nerve wrecking because the meds the doctor gives only works for a short period of time and then its right back, I've been to the point of making up excuses not to have sex because I'm afraid if there will be a smell. But I did try the peroxide with the tampon but I think I left it in too long because I begin to get that watery discharge to (no smell). My ? to u is what type of green drinks u drink and are they helping too??

I want to thank you all. I've been suffering with BV for years, and finally something that works immediately.

Years ago I read that Rephresh vaginal gel worked, so I tried it and it worked well for a couple years, then the BV monster reappeared, even stronger. So finally Saturday I was fed up and needed an answer. I was reading and reading an then came upon your posts. Ran to the medicine cabinet pulled out the Hydrogen peroxide, some distilled water.. I mixed 50/50 in an 8oz bottle and within an hour the results were there. I smelled nothing, had no discharge and could smile again. This is day 3, still wonderful so I had to come say Thank you.

I did not experience any burning or bubbling up of any kind. I didn't have a method of getting it in there but I had one of those perineal irrigation bottles, and the rest was history. I've been doing it once a day with the bottle and then for an hour at night before bed with the tampon. I just mix it up in a container and place the tampon inside the container for a few minutes to soak it up and then insert as you normally would.

Again, thank you and good luck to everyone, may you forever have a happy V-jay-jay..

I have had a recurring bout with BV. Been to the doctor a few times. Read everything in the world available on cures, etc.

I tried the peroxide douche and it worked, kind of.

So, next attempt was peroxide soaked tampon. IT WORKS!!

I did not dilute it. I left it in for maybe 5-7 minutes. After the first time, my symptoms cleared up immediately. About a week later I felt a slight bit sneaking back, went to the DR. told her what I did., she suggested that I do it one more time, as the microscope test only revealed like the slightest amount of bacteria. I did it again and its GONE. YAY!!

Upon my research in desperation to rid myself of this embarrassing problem, I found a UK website that explained that antibiotics only makes it recur, guaranteed. They also had a product on there that rebalances your vaginal pH and bacteria. Guaranteed to work...I don't know, anything is worth trying if you cant get rid of it.

Hydrogen Peroxide

I put the mixture in a glass and then dropped the tampon in so that it could soak up the mixture. This allowed it to stay in the plastic tube and to be inserted normally.

I agree that it may be parasites or a candida imbalance. Also try a good colon cleanse that has things that will kill parasites and candida. I had similar symptoms with no relief. Started a colon cleanse just to improve my health. Had terrible abdominal cramping, got constipation which I had never had in my life. I even went to the doctor because of the sudden bowel changes. Anyway started researching and realized my symptoms were from either parasites or candida. It took a few months for my bowel to heal, but it also helped the vaginal infections. I almost wondered if I had vaginal parasites too. Took lots of herbal supplements then and diotomatious earth. Much less infections vaginally. Somehow it helped my vaginal environment too. What used to be a weekly battle is now less than once per month, by doing diotomatious earth, supplements, etc. try it. Many people have parasites and don't know it. Somehow your bowel health plays a role with the vaginal health.

I have had ongoing yeast infections and BV since my early 20's, I am now in my late 30's. I have never been able to pinpoint the problem. Whether its my diet, genetics, or me passing it back and fourth from my sexual partner. I have only been in 2 long term relationships in the past 17 years.

About a year and a half ago I read online that using H2o2 was very affective for both ailments. While, I havent douched with it on as much of a strict regimen as the woman above have, I have used it periodically, and it works wonders!!!

Right now I have new boyfriend of 6 months and right away I started getting a lot of itching and discharge again. While I'm not ruling out everything, I have started the H202 3 days ago and immediately noticed a difference! I will continue this procedure along with a visit to my GYN just for a general pap and test, like I do every 6-9 months.

But, so far so good with the H202! It has worked in the past and present! I highly recommend it!

There was a study completed in 2003 that documented efficacy.

Utilisation of hydrogen peroxide in the treatment of recurrent bacterial vaginosis.

Cardone A, Zarcone R, Borrelli A, Di Cunzolo A, Russo A, Tartaglia E.

Minerva Ginecol. 2003 Dec;55(6):483-92. Review. English, Italian.

The study concluded, "Hydrogen peroxide represents a valid alternative to conventional treatments for recurrent bacterial vaginosis, and associates the absence of collateral effects with low costs, excellent tolerability and real therapeutic efficacy."

It seemed like I was more susceptible to getting infection than the normal person. a couple of days after having sex (unprotected) I noticed a clumpy white discharge so I though it was a YI. I went out and bought the CVS version of monistat 7. I began to use it and my discharge began to change colors. At first it was white, then changed to a pinkish one (by this point I stopped using monistat) then it changed to like an organgish color then it was yellow followed by brown. The brown discharge was just old blood because I take BC. okay so what I did was take an EMPTY douche applicator and mixed it with half peroxide and half boiled water. I let this solution cool down after shaking it up. Immediately after this I noticed a change and that the discharge had calmed down. A couple hours later I douched again (make sure you always rinse out and clean the nozzle after each use) and after this time I no longer had ANY discharge or smell. So the next day (sunday) I douched once when I woke up and once before I went to bed. still absolutely no discharge. The next day I went to my healthcare provider and I told her everything I had done. She then took a swab of the inside of my vagina and told me I was as clean as a whistle. I was shocked to know that she said that by doing this I had actually cured the BV. She did say one time was enough because I didn't want to be too rough on my vagina and that doctors don't recommend douching because it can sometimes push bacteria further up. Well from now on a couple hours after sex I will douche with peroxide and water and I will also do this after my period is over. Also eating yogurt can help maintain a healthy vagina!
