Diuretics

Both my parents were put on medication for HBP but neither was given a diuretic and their ankles never swelled. My ankles never swelled until I was put on HBP and a diuretic, For years I restricted my salt intake to try to keep BP down below 140/80. My mother had advancing dementia and came to live with me, and BP went up and I finally broke down and went to a Dr. Any doctor I've gone to has never said a word about sodium intake. I just get a pill to get rid of water they assume is retained because of salt.
I've had allergies since I was little. Late 80's I went to allergist and was allergic to 40% of what I was tested for. At the same time I was going to a weight-loss clinic and asked for a vegetarian diet and was told if I wanted to lose weight I had to eat a lot of protien - calorie restriction was approx 500 cal a day - and 1 1/2 ts salt a day. That much salt didn't make sense and I didn't do it. My BP shot up. High protien diet makes you urinate more and without the salt you excrete all your nutrients - and BP goes up. When I started using more salt, my BP went down. (Also got so constipated I felt horrible) This was years before I went on BP med. I blacked out twice and actually gained a little weight. Allergist said there are people that can live on 500 cal a day and never lose weight. I've also had my blood looked at under an electron microscope and the thing they've said, "You have lots and lots of allergies."
About 5 years ago I took L-arginine and L-ornithine along with hawthorn to give me added strength to work in my huge garden in spring and my BP went to 105/55. I quit the worst drug-Benicar (that raised blood sugar 30 pts and caused diabetes-dr didn't care - just an excuse to give give more drugs). BP still okay. Took nefidipine and HCTZ another month, and quit nefidipine and HCTZ for three days, then cut little tiny HCTZ in half and took it. Within a hr I was so dizzy I had to hold onto something so I wouldn't fall. Within 2 more hours my ankles swelled and my BP shot up 20 pts. (One dr told me that's just a side-effect - Huh?)
I don't get rashes, hives, swollen tongue (to anything be it drug, food, perfumes) and because of that doctors don't want to think I could be having an allergic reaction -- therefore I've got some other problem they need to "treat" or I'm taking some herb or nutrient that's causing it, and it's all my fault.
Quite a few years ago I went on two three-week-long juice fasts and dropped over 50 lbs. each time. I suppose lots of people can say that. I did it to get rid of toxins (drs don't believe in toxins either) and to test myself for food allergies and watched for sudden weight gain. With the juicing my gray hairs started growing back to natural blond and wrinkles went away.
Through the years I've come to the conclusion that I have an absorbtion problem and when I get cleaned out I can absorb my nutrients again. I'm beginning to think water pills not only cause some people to excrete sodium and potassium, but other nutrients as well. If you don't retain water because of sodium, what do they do besides overwork the kidneys and maybe do more harm than good? I've always thought they should be a temporary fix, not permanant, unless you have congestive heart failure but I've never had a dr suggest I do. They've never helped me get rid of "water retention" or lower BP.
I guess I'm writing this to rant a little because of problems I'm having now in the hands of a dr again, and to see if any of the learned people that know more about nutrition than I do think this makes sense.
Drop of Olive Oil in the Navel

Hi: I want to share this experience with others who have high blood pressure:
Before two weeks I liked to try olive oil in the navel for constipation, I put one drop a day in the navel hole, after 3 days I suffered from dizziness, when I checked my blood pressure I found it 70/50 (my original blood pressure is 90-110) for that I stooped using it.
I told my sister about that, her blood pressure between 120- 140. After three days of using it her blood pressure dropped to 95/50. I hope this will be benefit for high blood pressure patients, and I hope that they will post there experience.
Earthing

Worked Temporarily
I have high blood pressure also. For over 10 years, I no longer eat fast foods, very little process foods, no cheese, no ice cream, no red meat, and no pork. I even stop eating out in restaurants. My bp will still read 140 / 88, sometimes 127 / 82 most of the time. I take garlic, Niacin, and Magneisium pills, and I still have to struggle to get down to the standard 120 / 80. I'm skinny, 5'6" 141 lbs Female. So losing weight is not an option. I exercised at the gym for over 8 months, it came down a little, but never made a big difference. I drink at least 40 ozs of water, sometime more, and sometimes less. It gets very frustrating. After awhile, you're doing so much of taking this and taking that, you fill like you're about to go crazy!
I have tried Alkaline water, Apple Cider Vinegar, Hydrogen Peroxide, earthing. Oops, forgot to mention something. Whenever I cut or rake the grass for 2 or more hours, my blood pressure drops down to 111/ 68. Then 6 hours later, it starts going back up. Hmmm, I stopped earthing because I've been taking care of this 96 year old lady. If you guys can hit me back with so other alternatives, I really appreciate it. My last day of Caregiving is late May. I will reply back by the end of the Summer, maybe sooner! I'm going to try earthing for a month or two, and see how it works out. After all, Earthing is FREE, and you're pulling electrons up into your body from the ground. It's very interesting. Did you know a Free Radical is missing an Electron? Stand on the Earth barefoot, and absorb all the Electrons you want. Electrons will stabilize the Free Radicals. Earthing is like getting FREE Antioxidants! - Gotta Go, will keep in touch.
Eggplant
Can Bill or other readers provide how much potassium is in one capsule of eggplant extract, it has reduced her blood pressure but her potassium got very high because of her kidney problem. I do not know - does the eggplant capsule causes this problem? Her regular medicine is not working that well.
EGGPLANT 12:1 EXTRACT 500 MG CAPSULE
I appreciate any help!
Eggplant Water

Someone on this site had posted that her son in law brought his HBP under control by drinking Eggplant water, and it was tried by me and I confirm that it does work.
Now how to do it, peel the eggplant skin off and then make small pieces and put it in a glass jar fill it with water cover it with the lid and put the jar in the fridge, after 48 hrs you can start drinking this water at least twice a day say 200 ml each time. Each time you drink this water, you can put same amount of fresh water in the jar and finish it in three days. After that you can make the fresh batch. The capacity of the jug should be around one to one and a half liter. I suggest you try this and see if it helps, I am sure if it does not help then it is not going to harm you either.
Good luck.

Eggplant Water

My son in law has been successfully keeping his "uncontrollable" blood pressure in normal range by drinking 2-4 ozs of Eggplant Water daily. He was taking 2 different blood pressure meds and got sick of the side effects. Every week he skins an eggplant and puts it in a gallon container and fills it up with distilled water. He keeps it in the fridge for 2 days before he starts to drink it. There are times when he has added a little more water when he has taken a couple of doses. He keeps it in the fridge at all times. Before it is finished he starts a new one so he will never run out. He is so happy and he looks so much better. He has been doing this for almost a year. His success has made him a believer in the healing power of God's Pharmacy. I hope this post can bring health and happiness to someone else.

How does he do this exactly... you say he skin s and eggplant. So does the skin go in the water or does the eggplant go in the water after being skinned? And two to four oz daily, how long will it stay good for? At 4 oz a day it would take 36 days to drink a gallon. I am very interested to know how this is done.
Thank You, Rebel

Rebel......He cuts the skin off of the eggplant, throws it away, and places the eggplant in a gallon pitcher and then pours the distilled water into the pitcher. On the dosage I was off, he drinks 4 to 6 ozs morning and night. If you email me at universal.spirits @ hotmail.com I will give you his information so you can contact him directly.

My son-in-laws blood pressure was never any lower than 190 over 110. After drinking one glass of eggplant water for about a week it went to 135 over 90. He has been drinking the water and sometimes taking the eggplant capsules. He learned of this remedy from a man while waiting in the doctor's office. After struggling with taking two bp meds he is totally blown away with this simple remedy.

To Dave from S.C Foutain View S.C.
My wife is on dialysis 3 times per week and her blood pressure is around 200 without medication. She is in her mid 50 and waiting for transplant. How should I utilize above remedy and her medication at the same time ? What is your opinion on the remedy? She has to take HBlood medication twice a day to get under control. Can you suggest how should I incorporate this into her schedule? Thanks Dave in Advance.
I just try to cut down regular medication as much as possible. Do you accept private email?
Eliminate Salt
If you're trying to cut salt from your diet for high blood pressure, you might try what my holistic practioner told me. Eat all the salt you want. Just do NOT use it in your cooking. Use sea salt (we use a tabletop twist grinder) at the table. Now my home canned produce tastes so salty (followed manufacturers directions) that it's nearly inedible. Amazing how much less salt we use at our house!

Exercise
Yeah I read that lots of water helps. I hate water and I drink like a half qt a day, but am pushing myself more lately trying to drink hibiscus tea 3x a day supposed to help lower it. Seems that most stuff does not work on me. I have tried every natural thing in the bk. I am now taking a half tab lisinopril once or twice a day. I keep checking the bl pr. If it's under 135/85 I don't take another half pill. I am recently drinking the acv. I am ok this wk now, but last wk I had to go to ER because at nite I was 195/116. I was freaking out. At hosp the highest was 170/100 and the lowest was 155/88. Since then taking half pill and acv.
Oh, and then while I was laying still on the table (they called it a "stretcher" which freaked me out more) I had a full blown panic attack. I started trembling all over real bad. I counted the minutes and it lasted 20 min which is what they typically do. Have not had a panic attack in a yr, but I was freaking out.
On the blood pressure paper for the machine it says to wait 4-5 min before taking blood pressure again because the veins need to get back to normal or the low reading will not be accurate. I wait 5-7 min but usually take bl pr 7-10 x a day to see if pill and/or Apple Cider Vinegar is working. Not sure yet, but at least am out of the woods. I am older like 65, only ten lbs over weight, but lost 4. Go get a mini trampoline and bounce gently for 20 min a day. Helps blood pressure. Even doc at hosp said to exercise and it would help lower bl pr. Cheap ones are available, but I have a good one cost $200. Do it 20-30 min 4 days a wk. Back hurts so can't do longer. At 20 min the lymph nodes clear out so it helps the immunity.
Exercise

The more C-V intensive exercise you get, the lower your blood pressure goes (down to some theoretical limit). At one time, when I was doing construction labor, the Red Cross wouldn't take my blood donation because my diastolic BP was too low to measure.
Exercise

Exercising regularly for 30 minutes a day can also lower your blood pressure as it stimulates a substance in our bodies called nitric oxide. Nitric oxide helps to keep our blood vessels open. During the early stages of arteriosclerosis (or plaque build-up), one of the first things to be seen is a reduction in the amount of nitric oxide in the blood vessels. When you exercise, the accelerated pumping of the heart forces more blood to flow through the vessels. As this blood pushes its way along the lining of the vessels, more nitric oxide is released.

The amino acid L Argine yes does lower blood pressure because it has nitric oxide in it. I tried it for 4 months - drank 6 gr a day in divided doses. It didn't do nuthin for me. I just recently quit. But it may work for someone else. I am older, so may take time to clear out my arteries. I am now trying Apple Cider Vinegar and vit k 2 to clean out the arteries.
Fasting

My husband and I went on a 48 hour fast in order to improve our health and drop some weight. He often has blood pressure in the 160/100 range. On the second day of the fast he took his blood pressure and it was 118/89!

Fennel Seeds

My blood pressure dropped in one day. I had been under alot of stress, I am 76 years old. I have always been interested in healthy eating and vitamins. I read about fennel helping to reduce blood pressure. I bought some at the grocery store--fennel seed in the spice department. It is all natural, salt free,no msg, no preservatives, non-irradiated. Well I chewed it real well, about a fouth teaspoon-3 times a day. The next day I only took it in the morning, only. My blood pressure readings were just amazing all day long. AT 7;35 A.M. it was l3l-70, at noon it was l22-65, at 5;00p.m. it was ll3-58. I will try this every day now, and keep you posted.
Fenugreek

Fenugreek's leafy form belongs to the spinach family. However, its seeds are useful when cooking to combat the flatulence caused by certain foods, such as lentils and cauliflower. Its anti-viral properties mean it also helps against sore throat and mouth ulcers. Historically, fenugreek has been used to treat diabetes and is now thought to reduce blood pressure.
Fermented Foods

Hey Everyone,
I have a story of extreme High Blood Pressure (over 200) and how I corrected it within 15 days, returning it to a good healthy range of 117/73. If you find yourself in a situation where you suddenly have high blood pressure where you had never before I suggest you look for outside influences that might have caused the situation. Let me tell you my story and let you draw your own conclusions.
I am a 53 year old healthy male. I do not take any medications and am proactive with my health. I believe that nutrition (from whole food sources not vitamins from bottles which a very high number on the market are of a synthetic nature and just don't work) is the key to good health. When a problem occurs with my health the first thing I do is sign onto Earthclinic and look for solutions based on a whole foods approach. By whole foods I mean as close to grown from the earth as possible. This means herbs, roots, food based vitamins/minerals, spices, vegetables, wheatgrass, (and so many more) and products made from these).
So last year I had some dental problems which necessitated numerous rounds of antibiotics - 3 rounds of amoxicillin and one round of penicillin over the course of a year. I had a recurring infection in a front tooth. I did not want a root canal instead I opted for an implant and was using the year to save up for the procedure. I foolishly thought that antibiotics could handle any flare ups until I could get the procedure done.
When I went into the specialist to get the implant he checked my blood pressure as he would have to put me under to do the implant. At that moment he bluntly told me that he would not do the implant and that I needed to see my doctor immediately. If I did not, I could suffer a heart attack or stroke at any moment. He went on to say my blood pressure was over 200, well in the danger zone. He refused to do the implant until I was on medication and my blood pressure was in the normal range.
I left the dentist office in shock. I had never had high blood pressure. As soon as I got home I got on Earthclinic looking for help. I found a post on how one cup of Kefir (fermented yogurt drink) every day could help lower your high blood pressure and that a compromised gut biome from taking too many antibiotics could cause a wide range of health issues one being high blood pressure.
By gut biome I mean the healthy microbes and bacteria in your gut that helps you break down food and assimilate it for the body's health. At this point I was willing to try anything. I did not want to go on any medication. I decided I would do a test to see if kefir and fermented food in general would work in lowering my blood pressure. I purchased an inexpensive blood pressure monitoring cuff from Amazon for around $25 and headed to Walmart to purchase some kefir (in the refrigerated yogurt section) and a health food market to get some fermented Sauerkraut and fermented pickles (because they are fermented - I.e. live foods - fermented sauerkraut and pickles must be refrigerated. You'll find them in the refrigerator section of a health store where they sell pickles).
I figured the more fermented food the better. I would drink one cup of kefir in the morning, eat 1/2 cup sauerkraut at lunch and dinner (twice a day), eat 1-2 pickles for snacks, and drink one ounce of the fermented sauerkraut and/or fermented pickle juice a day (fermented juice is loaded with probiotics). One word about sauerkraut, I am not a fan of many of the brands on the market except one - I'm not sure I can say the name on earthclinic but it is one word, begins with B, and is seven letters. I found this brand to be very tasty. They also make the fermented pickles, just as tasty).
The experiment was simple. I would consume the fermented foods in the proscribed manner mentioned above and check my blood pressure every morning before any food or coffee. I didn't notice any change in my blood pressure until around the 5th day. That day it dropped two points. and from there it rapidly dropped. After 15 days my blood pressure was 117/72 in the healthy good range.
I continued with the routine for another two weeks then weaned myself off the kefir. I still eat one 1/2 cup of sauerkraut or one pickle or drink one ounce of fermented juice a day as a good health routine. It has been a year since doing this and I feel so much better. I find I sleep better, have less stress, less depression, and a higher overall sense of well-being. I just had a full doctor's checkup with full blood work and everything came back excellent.
The doctor gave me a clean bill of health. So get out there and try fermented foods - they do work.

Will you be sharing what is in the simple capsule?
Fig Leaf Tea

Fig leaf tea normalizes blood sugar level, lowers high blood pressure and keeps the arteries clean.
Two teaspoons of dried fig leaves in one cup of boiling water (steeped for 20 minutes) and drank each morning will normalize the blood sugar in a matter of days.
Dried fig leaves are not easy to find in the US, but Lloyd Kretizer at www.landofenfigment.com sells them for $5 a (quart) bag which will last about two months of drinking a cup of tea at breakfast each day. (That's all that's needed.)
