Avoid Grains
Posted by Sheila (Ball Ground, Georgia) on 11/04/2012

Hello, I study nutrition & holistic healing. You should read the book, "Wheat Belly". I got mine on Audible.com for audio book or u can get on Amazon.com It is a proven fact that gluten (anything made w/wheat among some other grains contain gluten) causes the majority of the diseases in the world. Diabetes, HBP, Cholesterol-high, heart disease, obesity, psychosis, depression, anxiety... Unbelievable book that this cardiologist wrote after devoting many yrs of his life testing patients. After 20 days patients conditions basically clear up. He says that 90% of all gluten intolerant people don't even know they are. Many people don't register when they test. Yet, take them off the gluten & they clear up! :-) You gotta check into that. I have lost 40 lbs & not so bloated any more & my diabetes & HBP is now cleared up too. But, I have also adopted ACV mixed w/garlic & honey http://www.rawfoodinfo.com/articles/art_cidervingarlichoney.html & it went down 30 points from my last visit & cinnamon is my big wonder cure for diabetes, look that one up too! Only take less than 1 tsp daily in warm water or in your tea or coffee split up in 3-4 cups (total 1 tsp--no more-important). http://diabetes.webmd.com/cinnamon-and-benefits-for-diabetes

I am loving life w/healthy eating holistic healing. I just wish more people knew that just healthy foods, spices, herbs & vitamins & supplements are the key to good health & curing ailments & disease too! Btw, check out this movie! Amazing, .. Eye opener movies: "FAT, SICK, & NEARLY DEAD" (he cures all his diseases w/juicing in only 30 days literally/documentary) and also watch: "FOOD MATTERS" Harvard doctor tells how we can heal w/food over medicines. Medicine only bandages it food cures you. :-)

I know, I know, .. My husband says I can't save the world, but, I dang sure will try! :-) Good luck everyone & I hope this helps all who reads this. Sheila

Aloe Vera, Hibiscus Tea, Cayenne Pepper

hi, I blend the whole aloe leaf, whole lemon, peel and all, add about a cup of water more or less. When strained you should have a glassful of liquid. First few days I had cramps and loose stools as the outer part of the aloe leaf is a laxitive. I believe it is part of the cleansing process. Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. The hibiscus is 100% hibiscus. You should be able to find it at a natural foods store or a store with ethnic products. I saw results in the second week, numbers started to go down.

Potassium
Posted by Bill (Philippines) on 09/07/2023

Concerning the correct dose of potassium, here is an article by a health professional(a qualified nutritionalist ) who recommends a standard per diem dose of potassium(RDA) of between 3,500 mgs and 4,700 mgs for adults. And yet the FDA still recommends selling paltry doses of only 99 mgs per day for adults where some people are led to mistakenly believe that 99 mgs of potassium citrate is the daily recommended dose. Something is very wrong here here, don't you think?

It's a research fact that a healthy body should always be able to easily regulate the intake and excretion of all the major electrolytes in your body -- that's calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium -- by controlling their absorption into the blood from your intestines as well as by regulating and controlling the excretion of any excess electrolyte minerals from your body. As long as your intestines (colon area) and kidneys are healthy your body should have no problems properly and safely regulating any excess potassium, sodium, magnesium or calcium in your body.

As a testament to the above, I've been regularly supplementing potassium citrate in amounts varying from 500 mgs to 1000 mgs per dose(as recommended by Ted) without any problems at all and I'm 73 y.o. And I usually always balance my potassium intake by also taking healthy and equivalent amounts sodium bicarbonate or sodium citrate as per Ted's alkaline advice. And it's pretty easy to buy the powdered form of potassium citrate in the US:

Potassium Citrate Powder -- from Purebulk

And from Ted's advice remember that 1/8 tspn of powder is approx 500 mg and 1/4 tspn is approx 1000 mgs. Easy peasy!

In my own experience, I've also found that alot of the so-called advice from the FDA and even from drugs-funded research can be deliberately misleading or even grossly inaccurate. If anyone really thinks that our bodies only require 99 mgs potassium citrate per day then I wish you alot of luck because you are going to need it if you believe every single piece of advice that comes from the FDA.

I've known for well over 20 years that the FDA is the main rep and sales agent for all the drugs and vaccines sold on the market today. And guess what?? -- The drugs companies own US law as well. And why is that? Two reasons really. First, most middle and high level management personnel in the FDA come directly from the drug companies. Any bias there, ya think? Second reason -- the FDA outright owns the law -- heck, why mess around? -- The FDA own the US govt as well! That's why all FDA policies are so heavily protected by US law and have been for decades now.

And concerning the purchase of potassium citrate at 1000 mg or greater per dose, for the last 17 years or so I've purchased my potassium carbonate or potassium citrate as bulk powder direct from two certified US chemical companies that are based in the Philippines, whereby I'm able to purchase 500 mgs potassium citrate(USP Grade) for about $10.00. I usually take 1/4 tspn of both potassium citrate and sodium bicarbonate dissolved and mixed in a glass of water. And sometimes I also add 1/8 tspn Sodium Carbonate -- as Ted's Carbicarb remedy -- for higher alkalinity. Been doing that regularly for about 17 years now and it's kept me healthy.

Ted's Alkaline Remedies

So please bear in mind and remember that if you purchase the tablet form of potassium citrate then it has to be 99 mg per tablet as per FDA inspired US law, but if you purchase the powdered form of potassium citrate in bulk then you can happily buy it in tons with no dose restrictions at all .. .

I started noticing my blood pressure was no longer an issue whenever all the following three statements were true: 1) I was on a low carb, high fat (Atkins) diet, 2) I ate up to 100 g of protein per meal, and 3) My protein was from at least 2 sources, e.g. eggs and cheeses.

Then I looked it up; https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20554123/ says, "proteins... can lower blood pressure in persons with essential hypertension... Deficiency in consumption of crucial nutrients such as proteins from meat origins... may underlie the etiology of the clinical course of hypertension."

Further, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/12544662/ says, "in epidemiological studies, an increased intake of protein has been associated with lower blood pressure."

I hope this will help!

Salt
Posted by KT (Usa) on 09/30/2018

Joanna,

They may not have added monosodium glutamate but the flowing agent in the salt could be a culprit. In production of any product, cooking, heating and reheated creates a manufactured glutamic acic that's worse. It is a nerve stimulant...PERIOD.

Those of us who recognize our sensitivity know "this is my MSG reaction". Sounds, to me, like you had a reaction. Different people can tolerate different amounts and combinations of various foods can make a difference. There is no "one-size-fits-all".

Magnesium and vit. C offer some protection against the toxic effects of "MSG" See truthinlabeling.org. It has taken me, piecemeal, over two decades to learn how I can eat what. For example, I am a red meat lover but I cannot eat reheated beef and I have to limit my ingestion to two oz. at a time or my fingers become sore and sometimes split.

I can take magnesium but the magnesium citrate caused me frightening heart palpitations and I was diagnosed with PVC. Citrate is processed from corn. There is another post here about how I discovered this. Corn has been genetically modified and I believe it was in 1998 that corn contained the patented gene that Monsanto developed for their Roundup ready soybeans. Infiltration cannot be avoided just due to wind and bird droppings.

The critters we eat and get milk or eggs from are being fed GMO grasses and grains. When anything is cooked MSG is created and because our food has been engineered to last longer, "Food, Inc." assimilation is difficult.

This is truly all very complicated but I wanted to share just because labels declare "NOMSG" or "NON-GMO" they cannot be trusted and I trust the people more who went to the food industry to have them check their own products for the information.

Doc put me on lisinopril ("You don't want a stake, do you?" asked he). after about a month of minor improvement I took myself off because don't believe in all the addicting meds US docs prescribe that don't get at underlying cause.

Instead: deep breathing (10 slow breaths ) brought my blood pressure down 30 points!

Last two days I've been drinking a concentrated Chaga drink from Chaga off a friend's dying birches. BP 120/71 this am and this pm an almost too low of 82/41. But I feel fine. I am a 77 year old female. I'll take a break from Chaga for a few days and see and then if BP climbs back up, will have some more in mornings.

Hi: I want to share this experience with others who have high blood pressure:

Before two weeks I liked to try olive oil in the navel for constipation, I put one drop a day in the navel hole, after 3 days I suffered from dizziness, when I checked my blood pressure I found it 70/50 (my original blood pressure is 90-110) for that I stooped using it.

I told my sister about that, her blood pressure between 120- 140. After three days of using it her blood pressure dropped to 95/50. I hope this will be benefit for high blood pressure patients, and I hope that they will post there experience.

I started taking Lugol's Solution (10% Potassium Iodine and 5% Iodine) and within 4 weeks my blood sugar has gone from 7.1 to 4.9. I am not doing or taking anything else so it has to be the Lugol's. My blood pressure has also come down to the extent that I am seriously considering coming off my BP medication. It was routinely 145-155 over 90-96 and now is down to routinely 115-120 over 68-72.

Hi Marie from New York - Regarding your comments about colon cancer and kidney disease caused by Aloe Vera. There is a truckload of rubbish on the internet, most of the time provided/supplied by the parties interested to mislead the public. In the future if you write a comment like this, could you please reference it, to see if the information is credible or just one of those misleading ones? Although in my case Aloy Vera didn't help reducing my HB, it had other benefits. I used it for six weeks every day 1large stick of washed Aloe, minus thorns, 1 banana, 1 whole lemon, 1 tbs of honey, 4 sticks of young asparagus mixed in the blender. It wasn't good for my HB, but helped with my chronic gastritis, helped with refluxes and like I mentioned cleaned me out, and caused NO SIDE EFFECTS of any kind at all!!! (The taste isn't very pleasent, my wife had it only once, therefore I would advise to use half the amount I used. - Anything is better then the medications and their side effects)

Natural Progesterone Cream

I though that the following might be of interest. I am a male of 57 years. I had a heart attack and subsequent angioplasty with stents when I was 45 and then until earlier in 2008 I was fine.

In June I had a series of heart attacks followed by bypass surgery. All went really fine but shortly after being released from hospital I developed very high blood pressure of 200+ over 100+. Despite various changes of medication by my doctor, my blood pressure would not stay under control and so I started my search for "other" remedies, which is what lead me to this site.

I tried the Apple Cider Vinigar cure, and although it did relieve the acid indigestion that I sometimes suffer from, it did not help with my blood pressure which despite continuing to take my medication would often read 210 over 118 or more (The ACV did not help me to lose any weight either.

It seemed as if a stroke was inevitable and I was beginining to despair when I read that L- Arganine helps to lower blod pressure. I tried the maximum recommended dose (as well as my meds) of 1 gram 3 times a day, and did see a little improvement, but still in the region of 170 over 95.

Then I made a break through. As you can imagine, I have spent a lot of time seaching the internet for help (hope) and I have read just about everything that has been published from the various research papers regarding high blood pressure. I read a report that natural progestorone cream - in addition to many other benefits - lowers blood pressure. Three weeks ago, I started to apply natural progesterone cream at the dose of 10 mgs morning and evening. I continued to take 1 gram L-Arganine 3 times a day as well as using my medication.

Yesterday morning I took my blood pressure reading and to my delight it was 127 over 89. It stayed around this figure with all of my daytime readings and this morning was 130 over 84. I know that this may not seem to be a great reading, but for me it is fantastic. I am not recommending any of what I have tried as being right for anyone else, but it may be something that others may want to research if they, like me, cannot get their BP under control.

For many years, I would wake up at night, with a rapidly beating heart, gasping for breathe, etc. I have tried many remedies and again, over the years had developed high blood pressure perhaps, as a result of poor respiration at night, kidney and gallstones. Minor surgery for an impacted kidney stone and then major infirmities probably as a result of the surgery, antibiotics, HBP meds, and infections. Found your site, and I have started using food-grade H2O2 again orally and through inhalation, also extra virgin coconut oil, iodine, and cider vinegar. Within 2 weeks, HBP gone, no liver/GB pain or distress, and a major increase in energy and a returning sense of well-being. Sleeping through the night like a baby. Please be aware that I tried EDT suppositories and ionic footbaths for relief from toxicity, with only an increase in distress. I credit my body's healing to the H202, cider vinegar, coconut oil, iodine, and coffee enemas to eliminate the toxins. I truly appreciate this website and my return to health, after all these years of less than optimal functioning. I had had a normal body temp of 96.8 for years and after initiated Lugol's iodine footpainting, within this time period as well, my normal body temp is up to 98 from below 97, which is also a really good thing. Thanks to all of you for all your suggestions, and I wish this level of body optimization for all of you who suffer needlessly. God Bless You All.

Nitric Oxide
Posted by Paracelsus (Orlando, FL) on 04/22/2021 47 posts
★★★★★

What do ischemic heart disease, high blood pressure and erectile dysfunction have in common? Low levels of nitric oxide (NO).

I've finally put together the pieces of the puzzle. Although I don't have heart disease and my ED is/was only an occasional thing, I do have high blood pressure. In the past I found that red beets, especially the juice from red beets (beet root), is extremely effective at lowering my blood pressure. Unfortunately, after about 12 hours or so, the effect of the beets goes away.

Why is nitric oxide critical for our health and especially for maintaining healthy blood pressure and sexual health?

“Released by the inner layer of cells (endothelium) of blood vessels, nitric oxide relaxes the vessels and keeps them flexible, allowing them to dilate, boosting blood flow, and helping to control blood pressure. Nitric oxide also has anti-inflammatory effects and helps prevent platelets and white blood cells from adhering to the lining of blood vessels, thus reducing the risk of plaque development. As we age, our cells produce less nitric oxide, so blood vessels become less flexible, which contributes to hypertension, inflammation in blood vessels, and atherosclerosis (plaque buildup)—that is, cardiovascular disease.”

https://www.berkeleywellness.com/self-care/preventive-care/article/why-nitric-oxide-so-important

Now that you know the importance of nitric oxide and why it decreases with age, you probably want to know how you can fix it. The good news is that the body has a number of pathways to produce NO. One of them involves your gut microbiome. The trillions of good bacteria and yeast that live in your gut and account for 80% of your immune system.

For those who are interested in the science and biochemistry behind the process, I am including the process here:

The chemistry for the production of NO involves 3 steps. Consumption of nitrate (NO3) rich foods, the reduction of nitrate to nitrite (NO2) and the further reduction from nitrite to nitric oxide (NO). (Nitric oxide cannot be supplemented since it is an unstable gas and will quickly oxidise back to nitrate and nitrite).

The following is one of several ways in which these reactions can take place in our bodies:

The following reaction converts nitrate (N03 from food with the help of gut bacteria) to nitrite (N02) and water.

Bacterial nitrate reductase:

NO3 – + e– + H+ → NO2 – + H2O

This is then further reduced from nitrite to nitric oxide (NO). This is facilitated with ascorbate (Vitamin C). It's a 2 step process where with the help of vitamin C nitrite is converted to nitrous acid (HN02) and then from there to Nitric Oxide (NO water and a transformed type of vitamin C).

Ascorbate:

NO2 – + H+ → HNO2

2 HNO2 + Asc → 2 • NO + dehydroAsc + 2 H2O

Higher levels of Nitric oxide help athletic performance, prevents Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, lowers blood pressure, and fixes erectile dysfunction (ED).

What to do in summary if you want to fix ED and lower blood pressure as well as get all of the other benefits of increased levels of NO?

1. Avoid glyphosate since that kills your microbiome and causes all sorts of serious havoc in your body. (Avoid soy and corn that is not organic. Eat as much organic vegetables and fruits as possible. Also, avoid non organic wheat products such as bread and pasta, since that is heavily sprayed in the USA just before harvesting. If you eat imported pasta and bread from Europe, that isn't the case and you should be fine.)

2. Juice or otherwise incorporate organic red beets and green vegetables into your diet.

3. Drink kefir.

Kefir has tons of benefits besides helping in the production of NO. Our gut is said to constitute 80% of our immune system, so we should focus most of our attention on our gut, or more specifically on the microbiome in our gut.

After switching from yogurt to kefir, I saw great improvements in my energy levels, stamina and overall health. Kefir is the heavy weight champion of probiotic foods. It contains over 60 different strains of beneficial bacteria as well as several strains of beneficial yeast. Milk kefir has the ability to colonize your intestines with beneficial bacteria and thus rebuild your microbiome.

Integrating red beets and kefir into my diet on a regular basis has made a big difference to my health and I hope it can do the same for you! Only doing one without the other will only get you partial results. So I highly recommend doing both.

I hope that this article will be posted by EC under Kefir and high blood pressure cures as well.

Thanks for reading and God bless!

In reply to P. Raghavan (Virudhunagar, Tn, India),

While I have no doubt whatsoever that kefir is a healthful source of probiotics and probiotics can be beneficial to human health, how can you be sure that it was not the hypertension meds that his doctor prescribed that caused the massive reduction in blood pressure as opposed to the kefir or possibly a combination of the meds and kefir?

Kefir has studies behind it that suggest it may be helpful for hypertension, but I haven't seen any studies yet that have shown such a massive reduction in blood pressure so quickly by itself. It seems that for the sake of safety in cases of hypertension where the pressure readings are so dangerously excessive, it may be safer to first let the doctor get the blood pressure down to a safer range before experimenting with kefir.

If a person's blood pressure is 220/180, it is absolutely possible that they can die or have a major health event from that condition. The way you described this anecdote, some readers may get the impression that kefir alone may be able to bring this aggressively high blood pressure down to the normal range and may decide to try kefir instead of seeking immediate medical attention.

If the kefir alone doesn't happen to work for them, the potential for death or serious health event may increase significantly. Because of the potential for serious health consequences of very high blood pressure, it might be safer to err on the side of caution in cases of such high blood pressure / hypertension.

Art,

As per your statement, high blood pressure problem mentioned in my thread, might have been cured by one of the following:

1) Kefir

2) High blood pressure medications

3) Kefir and high blood pressure medications

The electrician developed high blood pressure problem immediately after an antibiotic/steroids treatment. It is well known that any antibiotic/steroids treatment will disturb probiotic balance in the digestive system. The current high blood pressure medications are : Diuretics, Beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, Calcium channel blockers, etc. These medications will not correct the probiotic balance in the digestive system. Also, I knew three people who were Diabetes Type 2 with high blood pressure problem, took Kefir to cure Diabetes Type 2 problem. To their surprise, their high blood pressure problems were also solved. All these three people became Diabetes Type 2 with high blood pressure problem after antibiotic treatments. My opinion is that Kefir cured the high blood problem in the above case.

I agree with you that if anyone with high blood pressure problem want to try Kefir routine, they should not give up their blood pressure medications.

Also, Kefir should not be taken if

1) they are allergic to Kefir or

2) they have chronic migraines or

3) they have compromised immune systems such as those undergoing Chemotherapy.

If one wants to try Kefir routine for high blood pressure problem, the person may read 33 Kefir user reviews available in webmd and also articles on Kefir in livestrong.com. If possible one can do lab stool testing to determine probiotic deficiencies of nitric oxide generating probiotic bacteria ( L. Plantarum, L. Rhamnosus and L. Fermentum ). Probiotic deficiency of a particular strain can be determined by counting the number of bacteria of the particular strain in a unit volume of stool and comparing with those of healthy individuals. If there are probiotic deficiencies of nitric oxide generating bacteria, there is a very good chance that Kefir will work. Otherwise it may not work since the underling cause for high blood problem may be different.

Best wishes P. Raghavan.

I wish people would realize that animal fats and meat are not a plague on mankind. I used to get secondary high blood pressure. It would come on at any time. I exercised (walked to work every day about 2 miles). I got rid of it by nixing vegetable oils specifically corn, peanut, soybean and canola oils.

I also started eating a healthy diet, meaning ancient wisdom from our ancestors- eggs, meat with the fat, liver, soaked grains, no processed breads or foods etc. I did not do any vegan/vegetarian stuff. I drank raw milk and avoided all processed foods. And guess what? After about 5 months, my rheumatoid arthritis and secondary high blood pressure went away as if by magic. People have to look beyond what they are being told and realize that we are the sickest we've ever been. The usual 'eat lots of veggies great health and avoid animal fats for great health' is not true. I only mention the book because it's the most concentrated source for getting back your health. Please see Dr. Weston A. Price's research into indigenous peoples diets.

Probiotic Capsules for High Blood Pressure

One of the reasons for high blood pressure problem is the probiotic imbalance in the digestive system. Probiotic imbalance is caused by :

1) Antibiotic / Steroid Treatment,

2) Stress,

3) High fat diet ( Animal fat and Vegetable fat ),

4) Sedentary Lifestyle,

5) Smoking,

6) Alcohol, etc.

According to research papers available in the net, there are probiotic (friendly) bacteria in the digestive system that can generate nitric oxide from the food we eat. Nitric oxide will join the blood stream and dilate all stiff blood vessels in the body. The nitric oxide generating bacteria mentioned in these papers are : 1) L. Plantarum 2) L. Rhamnosus 3) L. Fermentum. If there are deficiencies of nitric oxide generating bacteria in the digestive system, high blood pressure problem will develop.

There are multi strain probiotic capsules available for about us dollar 28 ( 60 capsules ) in Amazon.com. Its name is : ULTRA-30 Probiotics - 18 strains - 60 capsules. This capsule contains L. Plantarum, L. Rhamnosus and L. Fermentum. Among these three probiotic strains, L. Plantarum plays a critical role. The simple procedure to solve the high blood pressure problem is as follows :

" Take one probiotic capsule in the morning 30 minutes before breakfast for 60 days " .

If the high blood problem is not solved in 60 days, then the reason for high blood pressure problem is other than probiotic imbalance like :

1) Genetics,

2) Chronic kidney disease,

3) Ardenal and Thyroid disorder,

4) Sleep Apnea, etc.

My guess is that high blood pressure problem will be solved by this procedure for more than 60 % of the people.

Best Wishes

P. Raghavan.

After beginning to have high blood pressure early in pregnancy (not too high, but alarming at 140/90), I had heard that Magneisum might be the key to getting it back down. I was already taking calcium and getting potassium, so it was magnesium that I thought might do the trick. I started consuming 3 squares of 100% cacao baking bar with a little raw honey spread on for taste. The next time I went back for a checkup, my blood pressure was back down to 116/70 and has stayed there. I HIGHLY recommend this tactic. It has also cured my leg cramps I get at night from being pregnant. If I don't have my chocolate, my cramps will come back, so I know it's the chocolate. It's important to spread the consumption of the chocolate throughout the day so that you are not getting too much caffeine in one sitting. I usually have one after breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A great, healthy desert!

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda

Do not mix any vinegar with baking soda!

Vinegar is an acid, and baking soda is a base. When you combine acids with bases, they neutralize each other, resulting in two major items which are neither acidic nor basic: water and sodium.

So, by mixing vinegar with baking soda, you're changing the therapy from a beneficial vinegar to a harmful sodium!

Buteyko

★★★★★

Approaching the HBP problem from a seemingly different angle, if you search "Buteyko" you will find the work of a Russian who concluded that the issue is caused by excess oxygen taken in by excessive and erratic breathing, which oxygen then becomes free radicals, highly destructive.

The body creates HBP to stop it from burning up from excess oxygen. Compare it to a deep sea diver who has to carefully monitor his intake of CO2 and oxygen. Similarly do we. there is much reading and practices one can do to heal HBP thru correct breathing- not "deep breathing".

I understand that ACV works because the hydrogen protons in it [ pH is best understood as "hydrogen potential power for the number of protons available for dealign with oxygen] .

So increase your hydrogen to counter oxygen, and/or reduce your breathing to where it ought to be, and the need for the body to manifest HBP and many other conditions will vanish.

Manage your breathing and it will drop 40 points quickly.

Blood Pressure Readings
Posted by Joyce (Joelton, Tn) on 02/27/2010 495 posts

Hello Greg from Petoskey, Michigan,

I have read that the best way to keep a check on your blood pressure is to take it in the same arm, the same position, at the same time each day. Now that we have that out of the way, let's also add that our heart rates and our blood pressures vary with our activity and also with our emotions. When I looked at your readings, I felt envious. However I did wonder if that 140/80 occurred right after getting home through all that snow you guys have been getting lately. If it was, in the future have a seat and a hot cup of tea, kick your heels up and relax for at least 1/2 hour before checking your blood pressure. It has only been a few years that 140/80 was considered high. Before that it was a normal reading.

First off to explain 140/80: the 140 is called the systole and the 80 is diastole. The systole is pressure the blood exerts against the arteries during the pumping action of the heart, the diastole is the pressure exerted at rest between heart beats, so if one or the other has to be a little high, better the one with the pumping activity than the one at rest between beats. For dietary reference, 4 stems of celery per day is said to lower the blood pressure. Also read recently that eating 2 slices of beets (fresh, canned, or cooked) a day does the same. You might consider taking a B6 and magnesium supplement to lower the blood pressure should it go higher. There is a nonprescription tablet combining the 2 on the market. It is called Beelith tablets. If you go that route, 1 tablet morning and evening should do the trick, but if you are sure that your diet includes adequate amounts of these, you shouldn't need them, but there is a lot of controversy these days on whether our depleted soil is furnishing our plants with the nutrients they need. My own blood pressure has gone up lately despite being controlled for years with magnesium. After thinking it over, it probably is connected to emotions connected to Obama and his health care reform bill (and his deafness to the 63% who don't want anything to do with it).

Lots of people would love to have your readings and you must be very active (not just considered very active) to have a 46 resting pulse rate.

Blood Pressure and Age

"The blood pressure increases every two years about one degree. The normal blood at thirty is approximately 125, and at sixty, it is 140."

This is a quote is from page 448 of the book titled Back to Eden, copyright 1937 by Jethro Kloss. He was herbalist, author, inventor, teacher, food scientist and lecturer. And I keep finding his book is well-researched and accurate in every little detail.

Fast forward 88 years, and when the blood pressure is between 120 to 129, it is called "prehypertension" and "elevated blood pressure" by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. Why?

Potassium

I have been taking 8 grams of potassium bicarbonate (3,200 mg elemental potassium) everyday to buffer ascorbic acid for over a decade, no any side effect I notice of. BTW I have also been taking blood test every 3 months for over 6 years and everytime test results came back ok. For me, even such high supplemental potassium did no harm at all.

Hi Vera,

I use food grade potassium bicarbonate powder and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) powder, spoon them in a cup and add some water (about 100 ml). It will fizz up, the amount of ascorbic acid is such that the 2 are just enough to neutralize each other. Add more water if not totally dissolve. I drink the whole lot in one go early in the morning empty stomach.

My heart beat rate and blood pressure are both normal at my age now 70. Years ago before that my heart rate was quite fast and blood pressure a little bit high, doctor did nothing for that maybe my case not too serious. BTW haven't seen doctor for nearly 10 years.

B6, Folic Acid, and B12

B6, B12, Folic acid do lower homocysteine. I disagree with your comment about it disrupting other B vitamins so stop taking it. It has been found that elevated homocysteine levels are responsible for heart attacks in most cases. Allopaths are much too concerned with cholesterol when they should be checking homocysteine and HSCRP (inflammation). If one is at risk for heart disease, these 3 B vitamins should be part of their supplement protocol.

Magnesium

I have a cardia arrhythmia which resulted in a stroke. My blood pressure was also on the high side (150/160 over 80/90). None of the doctors that I'd seen ever mentioned the importance of magnesium in blood pressure control.

All I knew of magnesium at the time is that it caused loose stools and using it could cause other mineral deficiency as a result. Yet I read that it's vital for hundreds of things in the body, including normal heart rhythm and blood pressure.

I started using the cheapest form of magnesium supplement (oxide), in tablet form, 500 milligram. Swallowing it with water caused as expected, loose stools. I found that if I crushed the tablet with my teeth, let it mix with my saliva, rubbed it against the roof of my mouth to break it down further without swallowing it until it was a slurry, the magnesium would be absorbed directly into the bloodstream bypassing the intestinal tract.

I've been able to take (3), 500mg tablets one hour apart without diarrhea. After 1 week of taking one tablet per day in this fashion, my blood pressure dropped to the 120's over 80. My heart beat became more regular, I reduced my digoxin With doctors' OK from 250mcg to 125mcg because it was making me too tired.

Magnesium relaxes the blood vessels, lowering BP and also reduces muscle spasms and cramps. It's referred to by nutritionists as "The Master Mineral". Another way of getting magnesium is through the skin by adding Epsom salt to bathwater. It's also an electrolyte, and may be why Lea's (below post) is coming down. Our soils are depleted of minerals due to over farming. We are all deficient in many things as a result.
