My mother, husband and next door neighbor have all had very good results when taking black cherry 100% juice concentrate for gout. I usually purchase the Vitamin Shoppe brand but it is available at other stores. I've always used the serving size on the bottle. For the VS brand the serving is 2 tablespoons. I put it in a glass of water and add a pack of Stevia or some other sweetener (though that is a personal preference). I usually give it 2 times a day, morning and evening.
Each of the people, that I know, who took black cherry juice, saw significant relief in 24 hours. I don't think cherry juice would present a problem for most people but, as with anything, people have different constitutions, allergies, health considerations, etc. and each person needs to take those things into consideration. Best of luck to all.
For gout, I drink organic dark cherry juice. It works for me. One glass, 20 ounces, a day. Of course, I have changed my diet, little or no Shellfish, and a lot of chicken and fish, tuna and salmon. Thanks for your recommendations for the home remedies.
Cherries, the darker the better, fresh, frozen and dried all work and work well for Gout. They are readily accessible all year around in one form or another. About 8 cherries a day will eliminate the uric acid crystals.
Put a pinch of baking soda in a pitcher of water to reduce your uric acid. Your kidneys only excrete small amounts of uric acid a day; if you have a bad case of Gout it can take time to heal completely... but it does work. I have shared this solution with 10 others suffering from Gout and it worked for them also. It does work for arthritis, but if you have had arthritis for years, you may also have joint damage that will remain.
You can also find Cherry concentrate (NOT Cherry juice) and there are now cherry tablets you can take. I love cherries, but took the tablets when I traveled, easy to carry.
It took a year and a half to totally rid myself of Gout, but it worked. I used to have what felt like it starting up again and after taking one helping of cherries the next day no more symptoms. I no longer have any recurrence and it has been 10 years.
At the worst I could not walk more than 10 feet and was under horrible pain and no medial solution beyond future surgery when the pain got too bad. Good grief it was already horrible.
This starts to work in a couple of weeks with you feeling less pain, in a month you know you are getting better, in a couple of months you are definitely on the mind and walking is possible. I had it really bad in both feet and it took a year and a half before I was walking long distances of a mile or more in total comfort and running. I did not modify my diet to eliminate any foods. I eat a balance healthy diet with no junk food.
Any acid outside you body is alkaline in your body. Lemon aid (minimal sugar (sugar is an acid) will lower your uric acid. Avoid most sugar, candy, soda and cakes or icing to speed the process of healing.
I have felt your pain and understand what you are going through. This is a real solution that has helped me and others who have reported back to me. The best of luck and get better soon... you will get better.
I have been consuming one cherry pill a day for 6 years and found it has been keeping me gout free. Recently I have been having some gout pain but may the result of taking presole for acid reflux. I just start a regiment of Apple Cider Vinegar and water so hope that will reduce any flare ups.
Yes, I also take tart cherry extract, and I take 2 pills of 1000mg 4 times a day. It works very well keeping gout away. Yes the bottle said take 1 pill 2 times a day. I've been taking cherry extract for over 6 years. I've also found that it lowered my uric acid level after my blood test at the doctor. Also I haven't found any side effects that I know of. Lastly, I drink lots of water when taking cherry extract. Hope this helps
There's something very simple to do for gout, get some black cherry juice concentrate 2 Tbs once or twice daily. You can drink it straight (as I do) mix with a little water or cranberry juice. It usually works pretty quickly. Some people sometimes have to add safflower or hydrangea or celery seed. I've got one customer who often has to add all three because when his uric acid spikes it's through the roof.
Cherry juice! Drinking pure cherry for Gout! Work out how much for yourself as each person is an individual. Might work for some. It did for my brother. He drinks it only when he has an attack of gout. 2 small glasses of juice a day.
TART Cherries- not any other.
I've been told that "Black Cherry Juice" you can get from health food stores (and I've seen at Kroger around the vitamens) is very good for artheritis and gout, and has cancer fighting properties. Hope this helps : )
Even if you're a vegetarian you can still get gout. Mushrooms, asparagus, and lugumes are high in uric acid. I'm a vegan and my family has a history of gout. I still get gout occasionally, about once every two years, when I eat mushrooms or asparagus and don't drink enough water. When I do get it I drink a lot of cherry juice and it usually goes away within 24 hours. Next time I get it, I'll try ACV.
I'm a 53 year old male. It is now nearly a week since my first "bout with gout. " I think I brought it on after throwing back a burger with some home brew. That evening I didn't sleep well as the pain in my right foot made me restless. I limped the next day and by that evening I complained to a friend about the pain and he suggested that I probably have gout…. He was right. I started up with the ACV that evening and into the next day, but really got little relief of the inflammation. The day after, I visited the local Health Food store; they sold me a bottle of Black Cherry Concentrate. Told me to get off the ACV for a week, take 1Tbsp of BCC chased with 8 oz of water 3x day to relieve the inflammation.
Worked for me…24 hrs later pain and inflammation down considerably. Three days later, just a little stiffness.
I figure many factors involved that brought on the gout:
Overweight with BMI at 30.5 - Need to lose weight, too sedentary lifestyle according to caloric intake…eat less/move more.
Dehydrated - need to drink more liquid throughout the day. Water with ACV
Too Acidic - Need to alkalize; eat more raw foods, fresh fruits and veggies, etc.
I also take cherry juice. The tart cherry juice. I buy it at the grocery store in the juice aisle. 64 oz bottle is almost $5.00. I drink up to 1/4 cup per day. I've read on the internet that some people dilute it with water. It is sour, but I've gotten used to the taste. I drink it as is.
If I feel that 'twinge' later on in the day, I'll drink some more. So far I haven't had any more attacks.
When I first got this last fall, the first attack was excruciating. My foot and big toe swelled up, and I thought I broke it, and I couldn't walk. I had two smaller attacks, but nothing like the first.
I've also read that gout is hereditary. I don't recall my parents or grandparents saying anything about it, or perhaps it wasn't diagnosed. There also is no cure.
I've read some of the other posts, and good luck with your treatment of it.
The remedy for gout is cherry juice. I buy it from a health food store in concentrate and drink it when I have pain. I have shared this info with friends and the ones who tried cherry juice agree that it works. The juice gets rid of the uric acids built up in the body.
My gout was getting chronic over the years. Finally a number of periodic episodes switched over to a perpetual attack in my left foot that had lasted for 3 months. My Allopurinol and Indo-methracin drugs had lost their effectiveness over 5 years so I was depressed over the constant pain and doing little in my retirement years. I saw the article about cherries and picked up a pound of dried cherries from our local bulk food store. I had half a pound of cherries that morning and my foot was pain free for the first time in 3 months by noon. I went for a long walk that afternoon which was a big mistake because the underlying damage was still there and I had trouble getting to sleep that night. However, by the next morning the pain was gone and the swelling diminished over the next week. Whenever I get a flare up of gout I take my cherries and get rapid relief. Much better eating natural foods to get better as opposed to taking drugs that don't work.
1 Cup minimum per day dark sweet cherries, frozen are great, Blended, the finer the puree the easier they are absorbed. Mix with a little honey, milk, ice, even protein powder. The mix is your call, but I guarantee good results with minimum 1 cup per day.
I do the same thing and within 3-4 hours of eating a half pound of fresh cherries and drinking a couple of glasses of water the swelling goes down and the pain subsides... I can actually feel the swelling go down, its amazing... I have taken all of the drugs prescibed by doctors (NSAIDS) and it does nothing but give me a stomach ache and make me feel terrible (on top of the pain from the Gout attack).
Better But With Side Effects
I have been drinking the cherry juice for my gout and it worked good, but it spikes my blood sugar levels. I talked with my doctor about it and she said the cherry juice has about 50 mg of sugar per serving and recommended to try the Fruit Advantage cherry capsules because they have less then 1 gram of sugar in them. I have switched over to the capsules and my gout hasn't returned and my blood sugar is level now. If you are worried about your sugar levels, stay with the cherries, but try the capsules for the low sugar.
My Dad and Husband were both over-the-road truck drivers, and both suffered/suffer with gout in their left foot (the one requires for all the shifting of an 18 wheeler). My Dad heard about cherries. Both Dad & Hubby now are retired and still have gout flare ups. Both now reach for a can of canned water packed tart red cherries (not pie filling), available in the canned fruit section of most grocery stores. Within hours both my Dad & Hubby have the same results - the gout flare up completely subsides. I vouch for the cherry cure. Only one time did it ever take 2 cans of cherries for my husband.
Im 32, I had my first gout attack abt 5-6 years back, but after diagnosis , it was found that I had higher Uric acid content in my blood. So i took Uric acid suppressant tablets and after it went, i completly forgot about gout and now from last 2 months iam getting continuos attacks of gout. Mostly starts with at right ankle and spreads to the whole feet swelling and deep pain. I visited the doc again and he gave a 4-5 tablets and told me to take the Uric acid depressant. It was gone in 4 days. Now the doctor asked me to control my diet. Now i take very limited protein rich food like pulses. Now i reduced taking Non veg to once a week and that too very small quantity.
But the attack keeps coming back again and again. I cant excercise regularly and for the 4-5 days im like a disabled person.
I started taking cherries since last two weeks but now the attack has come again.
Now im planning to take apple cider vinegar and cherry.
Some one please tell how ACV, Cherrys are supposed to be used on a daily basis. Please help. Thanks Ram
Gout is a strong runner in our family and for years an almost instant sure we all use is cherries. The kind you can buy packed in water in any grocery store. Make sure they are the water packed ones. Also dried cherries work but the canned ones seem to work better and faster. Usually one can is all it takes to cure an attack.
Eat a full can of tart cherries in one day. Gout will be gone in two days.
Cherries are another very successful home remedy to prevent gout. If you can eat fresh while in season, do so; otherwise, buying a can of cherry pie filling and eating the cherries will work also. It is up to you as to whether or not you want to rinse them off. Cherries are more successful than the RX medication Cholchicine for gout. Eat a can of cherries over a weeks time or so; eating just a few a day is all that is required. Simple and effective way to prevent gout "attacks" and faster at getting rid of gout if currently suffering.
