I was just diagnosed with "gout"...read this by searching Gout Remedies...and found this site. Please tell me the truth. Does the ACV really keep Gout at bay..keep the swelling down? I have been doing ACV for two days, 1/4 cup to 1/4 cup of honey and I drink it all down twice a day, morning and night. Also, taking prescribed medication for my pain and swelling in my right foot. So far, been two days and no relief. I do not have the pain I had, but I still have swelling in my foot. Tingling and burning, but not the pain I had when I went to the ER for this. I also had this for over three weeks before I went to the doctor do you think this is the problem? I waited too long for help? I read your success story and now I want to know is it really successful, regular ACV compared to Organic ACV? Thanks so much for the help.

I don't know if you've tried this or not but cherry juice will relieve gout. Years ago when my dad was first plagued by gout, I did research for him and found this remedy out. I would get cherry juice for him from the health food store. Over the years, he seems to have fewer bouts and he is now 76. He is very active but periodically, he'll have a bout. He now knows to immediately get cherry juice and that nips it in the bud. Do you have a Trader Joe's by you? They carry cherry juice I believe but am not absolutely certain. Anyway, his relief is usually within a day of drinking it. Hope this helps.
Cherries also helped a friend of mine. Just the ordinary glace cherries that you would use on a cake. He could'nt get the fresh ones as they were out of season. Also you are using way too much acv and honey. The remedies usually call for 2 tablespoons in 8 oz water 2 x day of either at the most. Because you should be trying to alkalise your gout you should probobly try 2 tbsp acv 1/4 teaspoon bread soda in 8 oz water.

Thank you so much for the information on Cherry Juice, I am desperate enough to try anything. what I do not understand is: this site recommends Apple Cider Vinegar for the help of Gout, however, apple cider vinegar is full of acid...and gout is from too much acid. Maybe I should try to develop a taste for cherry juice, thanks again.

Rick how has the ACV been working for you??? I just got diagnosed with Gout and have been trying ACV for two days without good results. I am also taking a medication prescribed by my doctor for pain and swelling. Medication has been going on three days now and have had the bout with gout for 3 weeks. I am anxious to hear if your daily input with ACV is working for you. I took 1/4 cup both of vinegar and honey twice a day, maybe that was a little toooo much to take, maybe I only should take a teaspoon now and then. Thanks again for any input you have on this.

WORKED TEMPORARILY
To Ketan with gout from Singapore I don't know if you are familiar with poke sallet or "pokeweed" in your area on this planet, but poke berries are one of the best remedies for gout and arthritis. Still works for me. If you aren't aware of what this is and you think it might grow there, I will send you some poke berries to plant this fall when they ripen. If it will grow there, you can grow your own medicine.

Just reading about the poke salad cure for gout it grows all over the place around here. Was wondering about how to take and how to make this remedy and if it is good for any other ailments.

Through this site I did try Apple Cider Vinegar for the first time, and while I can't say that it is a cure (based on the paragraph above), I did feel actual tingling in my sore ankle the first two times I took 2 teaspoons--something I've never felt before. I'm going to try ACV gel capsules, along with my usual Allopurinol, C, and Milk Thistle (helps heal the kidneys) as my daily vita regimen.
Last, stay away from aspirin! Bad. I'm certain that my overuse of Excedrin (love that caffeine) helped lead to gout.

Reporting in again, and I TRULY wish I had better news to report. I have tried consistent/heavy doses of organic ACV with "The mother" and honey, natural cherry juice extract, uric acid-reducing capsules, baking soda in water, garlic tablets, no booze - you name it. My big right toe is still swollen, stiff and sore, although not as bad as it was. It almost seems like it's just playing out on its own, regardless of the other stuff I'm taking. FRUSTRATING! Although here's a thought I got with this: "It's like your toe is a tick, engorged with blood, nearly ready to pop - throbbing, painful, non-stop. Or... it's like some evil tiny gnome with a little knife, stabbing & twisting his little blade into your toe, over and over and over again."

to ronnie from huntington beach, ca:
you've been giving him less dosage only teaspoon when it should be tablespoon and maybe you should add a bit more ACV. At first my results were the same as yours, but when I added more it worked great, my father in-law had gout all over his body and i swore he was about to meet his maker the other day, but i took cloth and soaked it in a pan with 8oz of water and 6 tablespoon of ACV, now he worships me as the puffy fat body i seen earlier has gone away and to be cautious i gave him two glasses of it as well and again he is so relieved and the tears of pain are now tears of joy, don't give up on it yet, try it again. goodluck
