Effective Natural Arthritis Remedies: Relief & Healing

Apple Cider Vinegar, Blackstrap Molasses

I have arthritic psoriasis for four years. The usual drugs that I had been taking did not help and I found from this website about taking ACV .

After a month of taking 3 tablespoons a day, I was able to do 25 squats at a time.

After 3 months, I was able to run a mile but at a slow pace.

After about three years, I also started taking three tablespoons of blackstrap molasses I could run down a flight of stairs without holding the rails.I will continue to take these to what further gains I will make in overcoming psoriasis.

I want to thank all the great advise that this E.Clinic has given me.

Borax

I have been taking borax 4 teaspoons of a solution of one teaspoon in 1 litre of water per day. Hence it has taken more than a month to consume a single teaspoonful of borax. So far no adverse side effects, only good good good. Arthritic pain in fingers gone for first time in more than 40 years. Can move my fingers better than when I was a child. Stronger fingernails, they have always been very soft. Feeling warming, I have been feeling cold for years. Feeling very fit, moving much more easily. Increased energy generally. Life is altogether better. Problems with candida seem to be improved as well.

This is a trace element, are people taking too much? It is also in food, so depending on your diet and water supply you may not need much.

1/4 of teaspoon in a litre of water and then drinking two litres is a huge amount of borax; suggest some people are overdosing.

Low Dose Naltrexone

I have posted my story before. I was turned on to Earthclinic by a retired Pharmacist from Houston. He was adamant that advice from Earthclinic saved his leg while big pharma's solutions only made his condition worse. Unfortunately, I do not what his problem was, however I became an avid reader of Earthclinic as a result of talking to him. I suffered from MS like symptoms due to aspartame poisoning. I have a long post about aspartame in the Artificial Sweeteners section. However, this post is about how I got rid of Arthritis symptoms. It resulted from several posts on the use of LDN (Low-Dose Naltrexone) in the Earthclinic section on MS.

When I first started reading Earthclinic I thought I had MS, in fact 6 different Neurologists all said I had MS. Although my currant Neurologist thought that initially, once she looked at 9 years of MRI's, she told me that I had MS-like damage to my nerves, but I did not have MS. However, prior to that diagnosis, since several posts on Earthclinic talked about using Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) to successfully treat MS symptoms. I started using it. After 3 months, totally unexpectedly, my arthritis symptoms went away.

I had been taking a strict regimen of supplements that included Fish Oil, Zyflamend and White Willow bark to control the stiffness and pain in my hands; I had had arthritis symptoms for over 10 years. The LDN helped to boost my Immune System, and got rid of the Arthritis symptoms. LDN did not cure it, but as long as I take it, it works. Since I travel frequently I once forgot it and after 4 days without it, the pain and stiffness returned. I have since found from numerous websites that boosting the body?s Immune System with LDN helps it to overcome many autoimmune diseases. One UK website claims that 80% of Arthritis suffers experience relief after taking LDN for from 1 to 12 months. If someone suffers from Arthritis and they can't get rid of it any other way, I strongly recommend LDN.

The website www.lowdosenaltrexone.org explains how it works in detail. Many other sites discuss it as well. It is without a doubt worth looking into for Arthritis as well as other diseases that are affected by your immune system. I use a dosage of 1.5 mg of LDN taken each night at bedtime. The max dose for LDN is 4.5mg, but I have Restless Leg Syndrome and can't take that much without making those symptoms worse. I had to get a prescription to get it and I use Skip's Pharmacy in Boca Raton, FL as the compounding pharmacy.

Note that the lowdosenaltrexone website lists several compounding pharmacies that provide LDN but Dr. Skip has probably the most patients and provides great advice. He told me that even though the MD who wrote the prescription specified 4.5 mg, that I would get better results if I started with 30 days of 1.5mg then 30 more days of 3mg then going to 4.5 mg. Then, when I found out I had problems with the higher doses, he recommended diluting the 4.5mg doses by emptying two 4.5mg capsules into 1.5 cups of distilled water and drinking a quarter cup each night. Then storing it in the refrigerator. I saved a lot of money this way. I have now been using LDN for 18 months and it is still working well.

For arthritis, research knox gelatin. 35 yrs ago I had no knee cartilidge. Went on knox, in two months pain was subsiding. In 6 months almost grown back. In a year I was fine. I couldn't walk up or down stairs, run or anything. I am now 72 and knee cartilige is fine. Still take one packet every week or two as joint insurance. It has worked for many, many people!!!!? Ken

Cayenne
Posted by Erin (Pensacola, Florida) on 07/03/2014

I've been using finger supports for arthritis that you can buy rather than building your own, and I dip my fingers in castor oil and pull on the support. It does quite well for me, but your idea of cayenne included - well, I just now opened one of my cayenne capsules (I take a lot of such things) and dropped it into my castor oil. I love all this great information on Earth Clinic and am forever recommending it.

I sprinkle turmeric and ginger on eggs, baked potatoes and vegetables with a little salt-free butter (I use sea salt) and/or coconut oil. You can add some to potato salad, egg salad or tuna. When I sip turmeric in a little water, I take a spoonful of lecithin granules.

I understood turmeric does not work for arthritis unless taken with "fats". I couldn't figure out how am I going to take it with fats, but I see a post below that has butter with it, so will check that out.

Maybe if you use it in the cup of milk recipe on here, it will work. I have a whole bottle of caps that I have been wanting to take but don't know how to take it with fats. A friend of mine spreads a ts. of it on her chicken when she is frying it. any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Knox Gelatin, the unflavored gelatin that is found in grocery stores is chicken cartilage. Mix with orange or any type of juice to make it taste better and drink three times a day. I drink it and it's works well for me. I had pain going up and down the stairs or even a step. Bending, squatting any thing that involved the movement of my joints. I think it depends on how bad your arthritis as to how long it will take to cure or make it a lot better. It took about a week for me to not feel pain but only a couple of days to feel relief. I feel that my joints didn't get that way in a few days so I gave it time and it worked. I have heard of others taking longer, as in three to six months to completely stop feeling the pain but they got relief before that time.

Zeolite

Every person's body is unique. What works for one, doesn't for another.

In my studies I found out that acidic body causes arthritis and the cancer in the body.

I have been having issues with severe acidity and pains in the my stomach and pain in my shoulders and hands from osteoarthritis.

My friend sent me the info on Zeolite. I bought it and using it now for about 4 weeks. It is meant to detox the body from heavy metals, lead and other poisons..I had one night fever and aches in my body. I went to the Zeolite website and found out it is due to toxins in my body. What I noticed right away, that inflammation in my hands and shoulder is gone along with the pain.

Also zeolite helps with acidity in my stomach for a few hours a day. I would recommend this volcanic ash to many who suffers from a similar health problems as I did..with arthritis it is best to get rid of the acidity from the body first.

Had a feeling I'd be asked for smoothie ingredients. Got most of it from Dr. Mercola's site.

  • 1 large ripe banana (overly ripe, if possible)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/8 t-spoon powdered clove
  • 1/4 t-spoon powdered oriental five spices
  • 1/2 t-spoon powdered cinnamon
  • 1 t-spoon bee pollen
  • 1 t-spoon honey
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 1 cup water

I watch my diet, do daily exercise and take a ton of supplements based on what I learned on EC. I also eat chyawanprash daily - Indian jam made of healthy herbs and spices.

A couple of days ago I awoke to find pain in the area of my left hip, in the front. I'd not felt any arthritis pain in my hips since I gave up eating grains about six years ago to heal adrenal fatigue caused by stress.

Anyway, I came straight to EC's arthritis page and decided on gelatine as the remedy, especially since I had gelatin packets hanging around for 10-12 years. I emptied one packet into my morning smoothie...what amounted to a level tablespoon...drank it all down and was relieved of the pain right away.

That afternoon I felt a hint of pain and drank another packet of gelatin in half a glass of water. It was kind of uckie, but it went down and I got relief.

Next morning (yesterday) I felt a hint of the pain again and had another gelatin packet in my smoothie. Got relief right away. In the afternoon, to play it safe, I had half a teaspoon of turmeric in a little apple juice. (Also from EC.) The taste was very palatable.

This morning, to play it safe, I had another packet in my smoothie. I am fine, no pain since yesterday morning.

I am 76 y.o. and I'll be putting gelatine in my smoothie from now on. I'll have the turmeric when there is no smoothie. B.T.W. on the box it says "The Original Unflavored Gelatine" ... spelled with an e at the end.

Now I can keep on bragging that at my age I have no arthritis, no prostate problems, and I can still make babies.

Turmeric, Ginger Root

I have been using fresh turmeric (root) and ginger root for my arthiritis and I have felt tremendous relief of my pain. I had severe pain in my hands, so severe that I could not do any work or hold anything in my hands. I slice 1 inch piece of ginger and turmeric and add to 3 glasses of water and boil on low flame for 15 mins. I drink this every day. My pain has disappeared. However, if I do not take it for a few days the pain comes again.

I have been taking ACV for nearly 3 years now when I came upon this site. I am happy to say it worked wonders for my weight loss. Thanks to EC. I recommend this site to everyone.

Yogurt and Flax Oil

Arthritis Pain: I have taken so far 4 times (1 a day) on the mixture of (a) Greek Yogurt (b) 1 tsp organic flaxseed oil. I bought the 4 in a pack greek yogurt and it heals my knee and left shoulder pain about 90%. I will go through one more cycle to see if it can go 100% healing.

My left shoulder used to give me problem when getting dress and my right knee dull pain keeps bothering me. Now I can open my left shoulder and not feel the pain I expect it will happen, and the right knee is pain-free and still a little tight when kneel down.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Hello everyone... I've been taking blackstrap molasses (2 tablspoons and warm water ) twice a day for about 3 weeks for arthritis in my hand. The pain has reduced to about 50% of what it was before, however I'm been somewhat nauseated and a couple dizzy spells last few days. Is this caused by the molasses or could I be having other issues? Has anyone else experienced this with the molasses? Thanks for your replies.

Hydrogen Peroxide

In June of 2009 I began taking 35% H2O2 upon the recommendation of a healer friend because my left hand was greatly affected by arthritis. I could not close my hand or grip anything. I was amazed that within only a few days my hand was so much improved taht I could close it and grasp objects. I began taking it daily.

I had a total hip replacement of my arthritic right hip in September 2009 and I continued using 35% H2O2 with no discernable negative effects. I recently had my left hip replaced also, partially due to a break. I stopped using the 35% H2O2 until a couple of weeks ago, when I resumed taking it. I had noticed that the arthritis in my left hand had worsened and I wanted to make sure the results would be as positive as the first time I took it. I will doubtless keep taking it now.

Prolotherapy

About 5 years ago I tripped and almost fell. I was afraid if I had I would break a hip. However in not falling and catching myself I tore my ACLs. When I finally went to the Orthopedic guy he basically told me I needed a knee replacement and that I had a very arthritic knee. He seemed to delight in showing me how they would just slice those joints off and bolt on some aparatus. I declined at that point and in a later appointment they injected some Chicken comb material supposed to help the bones glide better with a large needle that looked sort of like a turkey baster. Needless to say it was quite an experience and I have done everything I could to stay out of his office. ACV seemed to help some, but I realized I was getting less and less active because I was in pain. About a year ago, I went to a Chiropractor and she told me about Prolotherapy and how it could help me. It's a treatment where they inject sugar water in your ligaments, causing inflammation which make them stronger when they heal. Due to having flashbacks of the turkey baster, I just let time pass. Finally about a month ago I realized I had to do something and sugar water was a hell of a lot less invasive than having my knee joint cut out. So, several days ago I went in for my first Prolotherapy session. She did an ultrasound of my knee and there were large bone spurs in the area of the most pain. She numbed the area and injected the sugar water and compared to the turkey baster - it was a walk in the park! But the greatest thing is - it's 3 days later and it's at least 75% better if not more! I went grocery shopping yesterday without any pain! I'm climbing the stairs in my house with no problem! Of course, insurance won't pay for it. So I'm out $285. But I don't care! I figure I'll probably have to have another session, but I am so stoked about this I had to share! The pictures on the internet (Youtube) are a little scary and I think that was why I was so reticent. It's just such a relief to think about doing things and realizing you can because you're not hurting anymore.

Wild Oregano Oil

Last night I was searching this site for something that might help some really annoying bone and muscle pain I have been having in my right arm. Some of it is arthritic (the wrist) but most of it is tendonitis from overuse and poor typing posture. It seems like once you get tendonitis in a certain place it's forever after ready to spring into recurrence. And for whatever reason, last night both were really, really hurting -- to the point I doubted whether I'd even be able to sleep with my forearm and wrist both aching like that. It hurt even to touch those points.

So I looked here on EC and happened to see this post, and since I already have some oil of wild oregano I decided to try it. I started with the wrist because that's where the arthritis is, rubbing a few drops of olive-oil-diluted wild oregano oil into the skin. Then I wondered if it would help the tendonitis areas too, because of what one of the posts said about its opiate-like qualities, so I rubbed some in there too. I thought I'd smell like a pizza, and I sort of did, but it wasn't that bad.

And within 10-15 minutes, BOTH pains were greatly reduced -- within a half hour almost completely gone. I can't say it was a complete 100% relief, but it was definitely 80% - 90%, and I'll take that any day. What I could barely touch a half-hour earlier I could then press hard on without pain, both the wrist and the worst tendonitis points, and the steady sharp aching was almost completely gone, enough so that I could easily ignore it and go to sleep.

To counter the smell a bit, I rubbed some lavender extract into the same areas (it also has anti-inflammatory properties) and slept like a baby, but the oil of wild oregano had been on my arm for an hour before I added the lavender so I know it works on its own. I'll do the same again tonight, it worked so well!

I would add that if you've never used oil of oregano on your skin before, check your bottle carefully and see whether it's full strength or already diluted. Mine is already diluted; not all are, and if yours isn't you're going to be stinging if you put it on full strength!

Thank you EC, and to the people who posted this lovely remedy as well! (Maybe you could post this in the tendonitis area too; I don't think oil of oregano is mentioned over there. Thanks! )

Nodules
Posted by Gavin (Manganui, Northland, New Zealand) on 09/10/2012

If the ACV dosn't stop the nodules, (they are called Hebendens nodules if they are on the finger joints).. Try Lemon juice it disolves the dead calcium that the ACV cant. But be careful not to continue for too long.. A couple of weeks on and a couple of weeks off should be ok for about three months, . If you go into full detox you could get some boils or zits as other nasty stuff comes out.

Nodules

Has anyone got a remedy to cure/prevent Arthritis Nodules? I cured myself of the disease with ACV but still have the Rheumatoid factor, I have no pain or stiffness but I still get the nodules and have to have them surgically removed from my feet and elbows every couple of years. This is not really a problem but now I have one growing on my index finger and it's getting expensive to have them removed.
