[YEA]  Yes!! Thank you Lord! I added 3 cups of Pure Apple Cider Vinegar to my water and soaked for 20 minutes. It started working that same day. By the next day it was completely gone. No smell at all!! I hope this works for you!

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda   1  0

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  My husband and I had been using the "withdrawal method" for birth control. I finally started taking the "mini pill" and he ejaculated inside me for the first time in 7 months. Three days later, I had BV. I speculate that my husband's semen changed the ph of my vagina. My doctor appointment was 4 weeks away. I bought a ph test and scored a 5.5, which indicated BV. I'm currently breast feeding my 19 month old son and do not wish to take antibiotics or other harsh medications. I stumbled upon this site and after reading success stories decided to try the apple cider vinegar. First I put two cups of apple cider vinegar that was 5% diluted into my bath water with 1 spoon of baking soda. I soaked for 20 minutes. Then I swabbed the outer and inner of my vagina with a cotton swab soaked in apple cider vinegar. It tingled and burned for a minute, but it was well worth it! I have done this for 2 days now and finally notice relief. I'm not "cured" by any means, but the burning and itching has gone away! I've also been drinking 2 spoons of apple cider vinegar with water each day. I'm hoping by the time I get to my doctor appointment the BV will totally be gone. I also ordered some acidophilus pills from the internet and hope to try those as well.

Hi ladies . For those of you that have soaked in the ACV for 20 minutes, is it okay to wash right after?

Posted by Susan (Chicago, IL) on 08/11/2008

[YEA]  I suffered from BV for many, many years. Remedies, I tried them all. The only thing that has really worked for me (long term) is getting my ph in the right zone. I know it almost sounds too simple, but I can tell right away when I've missed a few doses of my Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda combo, because the smell comes back. I don't drink an alkalizing drink every day (I try to take a day or two off each week). But, if I go longer than the small break of a few days, the smell and discharge come back slowly. Not saying it will work for every woman, but you might want to give it a try. I don't think healthy flora can exist in an acid environment.

A healthy vaginal environment has a pH of 3.8-4.5, which IS a highly acidic environment. So yes, healthy flora does exist in an acidic environment, in fact, it's the preferred vaginal environment. When BV is present the pH rises above 4.5, easily into the 5-7 range, which is highly alkaline.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon Spray   1  0

Posted by Tiff (Ontario, Canada) on 05/27/2014

[YEA]  I have been getting BV after repeatedly for the last year. I did try douching but it didn't keep the BV away for long. But I did mix lemon and Apple cider vinegar together in a spray bottle and spray my lower region every time I use the washroom (and before I go to bed). I have cured myself (Thank you Jesus). I don't smell or itch after my period or after sex.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Probiotics   1  0

I'm only 18 years old, and about a year ago I had some craaazy itching going on down there and awful discharge. I went to the doctors and was diagnosed with a yeast infection, BV, and a uti. I took the meds and it cleared up. About a month later I had discharge again (a very very light odor also, but luckily through all of this I have never had to worry about a strong odor) and rushed to the doctors, they said I had BV and a yeast infection, took meds and it cleared up, a few weeks later it came back.. And kept coming back.

Then after about nine months of this routine of bv yeast doctors meds I went to the bathroom and it burned when I peed. OHH noo not again! Another uti on top of the yeast and bv!!!! If you guys have ever had a uti before you know how PAINFUL they are! Everytime I had one it brought me to tears!! :( my boyfriend who I have been with for over a year thought it was him causing all these infections. He went to get tested for std's, he came back clean of course.

I found this website and ohh my gosh you guys are great I feel so much better knowing I'm not the only one out there suffering. So after reading I tried the acidophilis and folic acid, did nothing. I tried the fem-dophilis and since I started taking it I haven't seen a uti in two months! Thank god! Cause those things hurt!! But it didn't clear up the yeast and bv infections. So I tried fem-dophilis, acidophilis and bathing in apple cider vinager and it went away. The yeast and bv was goneee! But it came back eventually. I know this website is for BV but if you guys know any good cures for both bv AND yeast pleaseee tell me! It would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks!

Hi Stecia, I realize its been over two years since you were seeking advice an I truly hope that you are not still suffering with this terrible affliction but in the event that you are, I would like to offer up something that has worked wonders for me :) I dealt with yeast on and off for over 15 years. I lost all faith in the over the counter remedies and even the prescriptions from the doctors only seemed to be temporary.

After searching the internet I decided that whole organic garlic cloves was the answer and boy was I right! Of course I discovered the cure right in the middle of a raging yeast infection so I took drastic measures....insertion! I took a clove of organic garlic (the fresher the better you want it to be firm not rubbery) cut it in half and inserted it vaginally . Within minutes I noticed a strong garlic taste in my mouth but expected that from what I had read. Within hours I was noticing relief, the itching wasn't nearly as bad...but it did burn a little. Then when I went pee, I noticed a lot of white stuff floating in the water, like the yeast was draining out of me. I did this for two days and was completely cured...for a few months.

This cycle went on for about a year until it dawned on me that I wasn't being proactive! I started taking organic garlic capsules every day an have been yeast free for years now :) I have a friend that says she doesn't think the garlic capsules work so she just eats a clove or two every day and it works for her too! Hope this helps someone.

Hi ya'll, this site has been a godsend! I have been a sufferer for about 3 years, I think my Mirena has been the source of my problems... Comtemplating taking it out altogether. But anyways. I bought 5 billion count lactobacillus from Target for about $10 and have been on it for about 5 days taking one orally but just a couple of days ago, I upped it to one in the a.m. and one just before bed. I tried inserting vaginally but it didn't dissolve. I also just simply because I refused to start douching, I poured a generous amount of apple cider vinegar in the bath and I think it helped as well. I am also going to go get folic and or boric acid too in order to keep the symptoms away for as long as I can... Good Luck ya"ll

[YEA]  I have had BV since the birth of my daughter 3 years ago. I Have taken many antibiotics and nothing has worked. I looked on one of those websites about cures for BV and I paid 30$ for the e-book. It said to douche with Apple Cider Vinegar and to tak a probiotic pill and insert it in as a suppository into your vagina. I do this about 2 times a week at night and I haven't had any symptoms since.

[YEA]   I've been suffering from a combination of bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections for about 5 years! Would go to the doctor's, they would give me prescriptions but would come back when off. They were MEAN to a point where the yeast infection would look green (I know gross but true) and the BV would leak watery white discharge (I know gross again but true). I've heard about acidophilus in the past and actually purchased a bottle, but was deterred by a doctor's post on a website. I then came across this website, and seeing how these treatments worked wonders for everyone else, I decided to give it a try.

Also reading from this website, I began drinking Apple Cider Vinegar for these conditions. Since it also helps UTI's (in which I get occasionally after sex, I know my vagina was in bad shape), acid reflux, weight loss, energy booster, etc, it was a no brainier to include this in my treatment as well.

Here is a layout of my attempts and how I finally reached the best cure for myself.

What I used:

*Acidophilus 10,000 billion live cultures per 1 capsule

*Organic Apple Cider Vinegar: 1 tbs diluted in 1 cup of water

Acidophilus: 2 capsules per (as directed on bottle)

ACV: 2 cups per day

Worked well for BV but still some symptoms. Yeast infection still persist.

Acidophilus: 3 capsules per day

ACV: 3 cups per day

BV gone! Was happy when the watery symptoms stopped! I use to go through at least 5 pantyliner per day! Still not much happened with my yeast infection. At this point I didn't know if the acidophilus had a counter affect on my yeast infection since it began to turn green. I decided stop acidophilus for 2 days and continued with just the ACV. But my watery BV symptom came back!

WEEK 3 and forward: I knew these infections were MEAN considering my previous attempts so I had to get meaner!

Acidophilus: 4 a day (2 in the morning, 2 at night)

ACV: 4 a day (2 cups in morning, 2 cups at night)

NO BV, NO YEAST! After 2 days, my pantyliner became CLEAR. I have been on this treatment for 2 weeks. I will continue this for about a month, then go backwards (week 2 then week 1) as preventative.

My confidence is back, I feel more sexy, my sex life has recovered! I don't smell down there anymore (I know so gross).

For those in my predicament where this treatment does not work, it could be your condition is THAT bad. Your pH balance could be THAT off balance. Considering I battled with both for 5 years, normal dosages would not help.

I also changed my eating patterns. Little to no sweets, less alcohol, washing my vagina with a rag and hot water ONLY, using very little soapy stuff on my "belly hairs". Hope my story helps someone out there!

Apple Cider Vinegar, Acidophilus   0  0

Posted by Lily (Bishopville, South Carolina) on 01/01/2011

After reading several posts, I stumbled across Apple cider vinegar for bacterial vaginosis. I've had it for about one year now. Flagyl worked at first. But it returned. So, I chewed a tablet of acidophilus (2 billion CFU) and put it into my vagina. Then I diluted the ACV with water, drank a full cup. That had to be nastiest thing I've ever drank in my life. I then poured non-diluted ACV some onto a cloth and a wiped my va jay jay. It's been about 72hrs. It's gone. No smell, no discharge, no nothing.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Coconut Oil   2  0

Posted by Daphne (Memphis, Tennessee) on 07/13/2012

[YEA]  For me what has worked is to take non filtered apple cider vinegar, coconut oil, and acidophilus orally on a daily bases. Each of these are best in its most natural form. Any organic non-filtered vinegar will work. Coconut oil, I order online from tropical traditions. But again, any organic virgin coconut oil will do. I'm not a big fan of yogurt, so acidophilus it is. I like natural factors brand that I get from whole foods.... Think vitamin shop sells it too. Also for the vinegar, if you can't stand the taste of it, you can do vinegar pills too. But the actual vinegar is best. 1/4 cup of vinegar, 2-4 acidophilus, and 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil. I do it first thing in the mornings to get it over with.

Unfortunately this is an on going remedy. BV will go away, but will return eventually, if you stop taking them. I did this consistently for about 6 months, however I noticed results within a week. I continued to do it inconsistently for the remaining year. Stopped taking it for a while. 2 years later, it has returned. So needless to say, I'm back on it. But the added plus about the above remedy, is that you will start to loose weight, and if you struggle with acne, like I use to, that will go away, my used to be painful sometimes irregular periods were now regular and pain free, in addition to being BV free. And they are all perfectly safe and nutritionally good for you. They each include daily things that your body is lacking from a standard American diet.

BV easily develops in people who often take antibiotics. Every time a round of antibiotics is taken, the body's immune system is weakened. So our body use to be able to naturally protect itself from this bacteria. But over the years, the American diet lacks in nutrition that supports the body to help fight off infections and diseases. In fact our diets and overuse of antibiotics may be contributing to making our body's worse at not being able to fight off these infections. The vinegar helps to naturally balance ph levels, and has good bacteria our bodies need... That's the cloudy brown stuff (mother) that settles at the bottom of the bottle. Be sure to shake it up to make sure you getting that in your body. The coconut oil is a natural anti fungal, anti viral, anti bacterial oil. Don't be concerned with it being fat. It's natural fat that the body needs that actually helps you to burn stored fat. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. Look it up, research them each, you'll be surprised at the wonderful things they can help with. Acidophilus of course has the good bacteria to help replenish the ones that we naturally have in the vagina in order to fight off BV. I hope this helps. Feel free to email me if anyone has questions about the remedy. God Bless you all and I look forward to hearing more success stories!

[YEA]  I never post on websites, but I'm so excited and hopeful. I'm 49, delivered 5 children and in menopause. I have been suffering from BV for about 5 years, only just recently discovered what it was. I have a very healthy diet so I experienced mild symptoms most of the time, though sometimes very embarrassing. I ordered primadophilus but in the meantime started drinking apple cider vinegar and honey in the morning and taking 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, (working up to 3 tbls). My husband and I had sex yesterday and used coconut oil as a personal lubricant. NO SMELL!!!! I hope its not too early to celebrate, but I'm very excited. I did some research on using CO as a lubricant and its benefits, but I do want to warn condom users that it can weaken them. I hope this helps someone.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Hydrogen Peroxide, Yogurt   0  0

Posted by Bvkiller (Vegas, Nv) on 09/24/2013

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  So I signed up just to share my story.. About 4 weeks ago I noticed I had discharge running out my vajayjay as I was about to leave the house.. So I went to the bathroom set on toilet before leaving to clean myself up when a glob of funky fishy brown thin secretions came running out.. I've never had this problem and just knew I had a STD (I was going to kill my bf) so I'm sitting on the toilet like WTF IS THIS?! Anywho fast forward.. 3 days later I'm in the Drs office she knew by the the smell it was BV, she gave me a wk worth of Flagyl which I took 2 pills/day.. I felt it getting better but after the treatment like a day or so later here comes Mr. Funk master Flex, ewwww just the most disgusting smell, this time it smelled more like feces though.. I went back to the Dr she gave me 2wks worth of Flagyl this time pill form same as before.. Took the meds and literally no change, I didn't know wth was going on, I thought I probably was reinfecting myself somehow but the 2nd time around I was very careful (bleached all towels panties sheets etc).. So for 3 days I was so depressed not knowing how I was going to get rid of this thing, it made me super self conscious bcus the smell would literally seeped through my clothes.. So, I started looking up natural remedies and came across this site, THANK YOU LORD! I tried the peroxide/water douch as well as yogurt..

Here's what I did.. 2 days ago I set in a tub full of water with 3 cups of 100% organic apple cider vinegar (helps increase vaginal acidity and balance) for 30mins.. Afterwards I douched with 1/2 peroxide 3% 1/2 water around 130p and laid down.. I kid you not I went to the bathroom about an hr after and no smell no discharge.. I didn't want to get my hopes too far up so I douched again around 9p, when the sizzling was done (it kind of sizzles when you do this, it doesn't hurt just a funny feeling) I took a turkey baster and injected about 30ml of organic plain yogurt to reintroduce good bacteria, I then laid down.. When I woke up the next morning I felt like a new woman, fresh no smell no discharge.. I continued the douch but stopoed the yogurt and apple cider baths, I didn't want to over do it and cause other problems.. But I'm continuing the peroxide douch only for 3 more days.. So far so good I'm so happy, thank you ladies :-)

Apple Cider Vinegar, Tea Trea Oil and Vitamin C   1  0

Posted by Sara (Washington, DC) on 01/20/2015

[YEA]  I have been suffering from BV for almost 10 long years. Ladies I know what you have all been going through. It has completely ruined my personal Life!

I have tried everything under the sun including numerous antibiotics, that always seemed to make it work. With doctors lack of knowledge makes it that much harder. I have been a repeat BV forum hoping the next time I'm on someone will have found something new. Low and behold, I have combined a couple things, the only things I haven't tried just to overload it and wipe it out. I think I finally have!!

Ok... So Before I went to work I took a tampon saturated it about 20 drops of Tea Tree Oil. I did not use an oil base, just the tea tree. (has a cooling effect for a while, that is normal) I kept it in for about 4 hours and took it out. That night when I got home I inserted a 500mg Vitamin C before I went to bed. I woke up and douched with natural Apple Cider Vinegar.

It has been 3 days and absolutely nothing! No smell, no discharge, no gunk. I am so relieved, I will be using this method once a week just to maintain. I am deathly afraid of it coming back so I am taking no chances. I can finally get my sex life back on track!

I know how frustrating and depressing this condition is. I really hope this works you ladies, again, I have been suffering from BV for about 10 years. This is truly a miracle!!!! Let me know how this works out for you, I hope to hear many success stories!

Apple Cider Vinegar, Yogurt   2  0

Posted by Islandgirl (Ny, Ny) on 08/04/2009

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  I had originally posted on this board when I thought I found a cure for BV. I got BV about 4 months ago for the 1st time, and every month up to July, after. My dr. prescribed huge antibiotics which very much upset my stomach and the following month it was back again. That's when I decided to try a natural method.

I was using peroxide as a wash, taking acidophilus, and folic acid pills. But the day I stopped or missed my regiment it would come back. I even went so far as to insert the acidophilus capsules. It helped the smell but it was totally inconvenient for me. Gave me a strange discharge (from the pills dissolving) and (after that) made my own moisture a slightly grainy consistency that was not nice during intercourse.

***So I gave up on that. I have been taking 3 ounce shots (drinks) (1-3/day) of apple cider vinegar and eating yogurt (you know the kind marketed to help your digestive track) everyday. I'm not really a fan of yogurt but I get the drinkable ones and pretend it's a treat. Ive been using regular brand ACV and it worked to clear infection, tho I am sure the organic unfiltered stuff works best.

I can say its been gone now for long enough time to vouch for this method.

There was one weekend I didn't have any yogurt or ACV and I started to notice a very slightly off odor. So on Monday I had 2 yogurts and 1 shot of ACV, and it was gone that day.

The treatment I would recommend would be 2-3, 3 ounce drinks (shot glass) of apple cider vinegar (orally) for a week for 10 days to cure infection. And from now until forever; eating yogurt every day. It sounds like a lot but yogurt is easy to find, pretty cheap, has calcium, and tastes ok. I would recommend the drinkable kind as you can throw them in your purse on the way to anywhere and drink it quickly. Also try to drink cranberry juice (not cocktail) when you can. I feel like that helps to prevent re-infection.

Best of luck

If you have dryness, look into the pH stabilizing product called: RepHresh. It naturally lubricates and soothes by maintaining a healthy vaginal pH. Each gel insert lasts about 3 days and the product is not cheap, but it will restore your comfort.

[YEA]  I've had the bacterial infection for over 5 years and i tried everything from cream to gel. i finally took the time to look into this and see what else can be done. i used the apple cider vinegar with yogurt and the smell and discharge was gone instantly, i still cant believe it worked that fast. when i shower i just splash a little of acv on my private area to keep the bacteria from comin back. this remedy definetly works so if anyone wants to know what to do they can use this remedy it works. i though that i would never get rid of this and it has been a blessing.

Concerning Apple Cider Vinegar and yogurt, thank you for that tip, but what did you do with the yogurt?

Posted by Elizabeth (Staten Island, NY) on 07/09/2007

[YEA]  I just tried the remedy of using plain yogurt and ACV. I've been suffering with a very pungent, sharp odor which is intense just before my menses start but I did not want to be forced to take the western medicine approach. Last night I mixed 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt and just ONE CAPFUL of raw, organic ACV and using a turkey baster, inserted the mixture before bed and wore a pad while I slept. Today the smell is gone. I will continue this approach over the next week and incorporate the Yogurt/ACV mixture into my regiment of continued health maintenance. Thank you Earthclinic!!!
