tks. for thr info.; I will certainly try it! Between crowns; 1 broke after 30 yrs. and another after 5 yrs.; I'm tapped out; money wise.

I started using Nature's Smile; over 1 yr. ago; brushing my teeth; as I started to have gum problems. this did the trick for it! Stopped having my gums recede! But it isn't cheap. So I used Sensodyne toothpaste; on and off with this.

Quit with Coca Cola; after yrs. of being addicted to it and it didn't help my teeth! Drink reg. Polar gingerale; I have a sweet tooth.

but have a toothache; in what few btm teeth I have left and I grind my teeth! Have for yrs. Got an appliance and I nearly chocked on it from the dentist; yrs. before and threw it out!

Thanks so much! Will see if I can get the coconut cold pressed oil tomorrow!

You recommended Magnesium Chloride crushed in a glass of water. Do you drink it or use it like a mouthwash and then, spit it out? Many thanks. this website/blog is great for answers!

Cavitation surgery in the US? What is that? Peridonatal surgery?

The prices for procedures here are HIGH! Even with a little insurance; pays $8.00 toward a 125.00 filling.

What did this surgery cost you?

Many thanks and good luck.

Colloidal Silver, DMSO

You still need to spit because at this point, it is NOT perfectly good silver anymore. It's contaminated with whatever impurities you are swishing out. If you have a infection, why swallow what leaks out? It's only a tablespoon that you need to swish anyways. Coconut oil and silver serving great to take internally but both, or anything you swallow, should be fresh and not used for oral health first.

Broken backtooth with nerve pain. tried teabags first, helped for a night or 2. tried garlic next, helped for another 2 days but the smell sucks.

THEN I got clove oil which turned out to be the miracle worker, smell isnt too bad and can burn but def thankful for its taken most the pain away. I use a drop or 2 twice a day, then chug water after cuz the slight burn.

Also try to keep mouth clean with oil pulling and hot water & sea salt swish.

Dietary Changes, Multiple Remedies

We are trying your recommendations with the doses changed slightly, seeing that my son is 6. He currently has two abscesses from two teeth that had dental work done on them (fillings) when he was 2. Can you tell me more information about the diet you followed? No grains, no sugar, we have decided to cut out fruit too. Did she just eat lots of veggies? Any grass-fed meat or free range white meat? Eggs? Any raw dairy? I ask this because it seems like the raw dairy makes the abscesses swell up more. Interested to see what worked for your daughter. Thank you!

Pyrogenium (Homeopathic Remedy)

I had first read about someone using pyrogenium on Earth Clinic for their tooth issues and would like to hear from someone who has had experience using this product. I have done some research and read that you can cause more health issues if you take too much. I have also seen on a homeopathic site where someone takes 200c. How do you know how much you're suppose to take for a tooth abscess? Can anyone advise? TIA

Hello, can you tell me what MMS and EC is? I have an abscess that is apparently the result of a root canal from yrs ago. Its not painful but swelled up when I first noticed it. Now that its subsided a bit due to antibiotics I am wondering if I can actually get it healed up with out the recommended surgery thats going to cost 1500.00....

Thanks Chris

EC: MMS is the acronym for Miracle Mineral Solution (a supplement) and EC refers to Earth Clinic!

Garlic, Vitamin C and Bamboo Salt
Posted by Yvonne (Singapore) on 11/28/2016
★★★★★

Hi guys, woke up with dull pain in lower molar, went to a random dentist nearby at 10am (and though a regular cleaning will do the job), the 'cold test' they performed made the pain worse (unbearably excruciating and non-stop), that I have to keep holding water in my mouth or the pain keeps coming back. At 2pm, I can't take it anymore, went back, they told me it was really bad gum infection with pus and my molar was shaking. So they suggested periodontist specialist and root canal. I can't wait and make a trip to periodontist specialist and didn't want to do root canal after reading all the bad things about it, so in desperation, I opted for extraction. 1 day after the anesthesia of the extraction dies off, the neighboring teeth and gum start to ache (bacteria spread), so I started on the ponstan and antibiotics given by the dentist, which helped reduce the infection/inflammation by around 40%.

Then after reading reviews of this site, I started chewing garlic and taking lots of Vitamin C (6,000mg) for a couple days. Both helped by around 70%. Then there is the side effect of skin burn/sore on the cheek and inner lips with use of garlic, so garlic can't be used constantly.

But what I would like to share with whoever is reading this review is that Bamboo Salt (9x baked) is the game-changer. It managed to fix the remaining 30% sensitivity, sore and ache in nearby gum, teeth and extraction site, that garlic and Vit C can't fix). I really didn't have to extract my molar if I knew about bamboo salt before I go to the dentist.

All my gums and teeth and in perfect shape now. Google "Bamboo Salt" and there are medical reports it can even cure oral cancer: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23403521

EC: Interesting, thank you!

For those who don't know much about this Korean remedy...

Jukyeom is a Korean folk remedy consisting of salt roasted in bamboo. ... The trace elements in the clay and bamboo are thought to make this form of salt more healthy. Historically, jukyeom has been used as a digestive aid, styptic, disinfectant, or dentifrice.

I have to get a new dental policy and get a crown on a molar. As an FYI, if your dental insurance doesn't cover a root canal or crown due to length of time. You still are given the contracted rate where the dentist cannot charge over a certain amount for the service and crown. Most people don't know this and many people in admin don't know this but this is a fact. This can save you hundreds of dollars typically- still going to be expensive but MUCH better than full price.

Okay, so while I am arranging a new dental policy, my tooth that I planned on crowning this month starts REALLY hurting. I did not have an abscess but it must have been inside because that was definitely a sign of infection and it was only going to get worse. I have had a root canal and crown on another tooth 5 years ago and the pain from the infection was beyond agony. Fortunately, I never had problems after the procedure and I have pretty good dental health, but I never want to experience that again so I got busy!

I had recently started taking iodine supplements by capsule and by drops in my water. So I immediately gave myself a super dose for a couple of days to get it going in my system. Still the pain lingered (I think the iodine was keeping the infection in check but not completely killing it), and I could tell it was starting to become more intense and more frequent. So I got online and started researching what I could do to at least keep the infection under control until I get some Penicillin from my doc so hopefully I won't need a root canal.

The following things I discovered and tried to a good measure of success:

1. Oil pulling with unrefined organic coconut oil. I got IMMEDIATE RESULTS!! My swelling in the roof of my mouth and all of my pain were gone! I was not congested at all, but the second I spit the oil out I got crazy pains all through my head as I felt the sinuses clearing and adjusting pressure! I did not even know I was inflamed! My body was having an intense immune response and it was going completely unnoticed until that moment! That is scary and I am actually so thankful I had this toothache or I might never have tried this! My lymph nodes are back to normal and they have a tendency to always stay a little swollen but I always come out "healthy" I am shocked and again thankful to all the good people that post on these websites! I began oil pulling 2 or 3 times a day but still after a couple of days I was not getting complete resolution. But I believe it is a part of the resolution.

2. I bought Turmeric in capsule form. I took 1 pill of 450 mg of Tumeric and curc. I did not notice anything with my tooth but other things were happening including my nose would run and other purging types of scenarios where I believe my body was detoxing! I felt that even though I could not feel a difference in my tooth, that obviously it was detoxing my system which overall is helping my body heal.

3. I tried OIL OF OREGANO! This stuff is crazy intense and STRONG. when they say drops I mean heed that warning!!! Trust me I didn't take it that seriously and I thought screw the tooth I think I just killed myself with oregano oil!

I put a couple of drops in my sparkling mineral water with fresh lemon and my iodine and it was completely good. So try this if you want to get it internally as well as topically.

HERE IS A MAGIC GERM KILLING COMBO THAT KNOCKED IT OUT:

Keep in mind I continued oil pulling 2 to 3 times a day, took my 1 pill of Turmeric in the morning with my iodine pills and also drops in my water (2 diff kinds of iodine are both needed by the body), but I then got a cotton ball and put 2 droppers of iodine on it with 3 to 4 drops of Oil of Oregano and put it directly on the gum above the tooth. GROSS and you will drool like a St. Bernard so seriously get a towel. I am not exaggerating. I kept it on my gum and did not move it for about 25 minutes. When I took it off WOW! No pain, all swelling completely and totally gone! I did not have pain for several hours and then I oil pulled again and took a Tylenol. Completely pain free into the middle of the next day! I still oil pulled and took my Turmeric and iodine and did the procedure again, but for only 10 minutes.

My situation is completely under control as I prepare to get my crown and prevent a root canal. As an extra measure I am going to make sure I take Penicillin for 5 days or so to prevent any potential lingering bugs that might get trapped in the crown. Penicillin is super cheap thank god and dentists don't have a problem prescribing it even just a call in. This is an FYI for others that might have a dentist at least get them some penicillin to help save a tooth. I never take antibiotics and never get sick, so I respond well to things and if you are the same way this could be an extra idea for you.

I really hope this helps someone because I think it is something that is pretty easy to follow and reasonable to maintain that also will help your general health.

Ozone
Posted by Faith (Pdx) on 09/22/2016

I had two loose teeth in the front. I had weekly ozone treatment for $50.00. The dentist was super nice and fair, he would inject a massive amount of ozone between the two teeth since ozone moves seeking something to react with and it goes after the infections and destroys them. It took ten sessions to kill the infection.

Colloidal Silver, DMSO
Posted by Paisley (Tx) on 09/21/2016

I know this is older, but maybe someone can answer...

I have read several posts about using colloidal silver for abscess teeth and most talk about spitting it out after. Why?

With oil pulling you are drawing out toxins and therefore want to spit, but silver is healthy taken internally as well and this procedure of swishing is not to draw out but rather to deposit the silver in and around the teeth and gums. Even if you do draw out some impurities, the silver is antibiotic and antiseptic anyway.

So, why on earth spit out perfectly good silver?

Thanks

TOOTH ABSCESS. - I have lost a tooth or 2 from the dreaded tooth abscess in the past when little information was available to help other than going to the dentist. I have now tried most of the recognised alternative published remedies and I have to say none of them were a total success - until - I took some fairly large doses of powdered olive leaf.

The result.......almost immediate, well, within a few hours, all pain subsided and after following on with reduced doses the abscess completely subsided. - AMAZING!!

Fresh Oregano and Lemons

Had a re-occuring back moler - pre-existing tooth/bone infection and in the 9th hour before going to the ER thought I'd give this a try:

Steeped fresh oregano plant from a friends garden and chopped fresh organic lemons (with peels- important) and let both steep (do not boil) together for :30 mins - and swished in mouth every 15-30 mins, then consumed - repeat during waking hours for at least 5 days.

Amazingly, the very severe pain subsided instantly! The medium inflammation reduced daily. It's important to continue applications for 5 days or longer- as needed, even though symptoms are relieved.

Bentonite Clay

Toothache: Twice I have had a terrible toothache which I have successfully treated with calcium bentonite clay. I mixed the clay powder with water to make a thick mixture and put a big chunk of it between my cheek and the infected tooth/gums. I changed the clay occasionally, but left it on 24 hours a day, and figured that any I swallowed would be beneficial. It was very effective for my toothache. I think that it works by drawing out the infection and thereby reducing painful inflammation, and that the clay also nourishes. I followed up with eating clay on a daily basis and improving my diet. I had these toothaches about 4 years ago and haven't had problems since.

My favorite way to consume calcium bentonite clay is by making a thick mixture, like pottery clay, which I keep in a lidded jar, and scooping up a little with my finger, and swallowing it with a lot of water. I imagine that this is equally effective as drinking clay water, but it is much more palatable for me.

For a tooth abscess, swoosh salt water around first. The abscess will subside very quickly. Then mess around with your oils and your herbs. Salt should come first. It works, I can tell you from personal experience. And very quickly.

Yes... No visible puss or swelling for a bit over two weeks now.

This was only after I started following the dietary recommendations of Ramiel Nagel very seriously: for me, the crucial change was a diet high in real unprocessed unsweetened yoghurt and buttermilk. Also, I cut out the xylitol rinses that appeared to turn my teeth grey/yellow, and I brushed my teeth with sodium bicarbonate as main ingredient (also did some rinses with it). Those changes were exactly concurrent with the dietary improvement.

In sum, I would not recommend xylitol. I recommend following Ramiel Nagel/Weston Price dietary advice. Also, I recommend brushing with sodium bicarbonate.

Eucalyptus Tea Bags

Adrian,

When we use tea bags in the mouth, we find it easiest to at least dampen the tea bag first. With harder herbs especially, it will take a while for hard and dry herbs to become soft and comfortable in your mouth.

Often I put a tea bag in a mug and pour very hot water over it, just to cover it. After 5 minutes I drain the water and when the tea bag is cool, I use it in the mouth.

There is another option, which is weekly ozone shots at the infected sites, if it fails have surgery. My ND did weekly ozone shots at all infected dental sites The side effects started on day 2 -- a bad headache, brain fog lasted 3 days the 4th day turned into migraine, I felt super weird, my brain off kilter. Second, time I had ozone, again same effects!

( I could not stand how ozone made me feel so had oral surgery. Ozone is great for some people, not for me.

The infection comes back about once a week. After applying garlic, the puss boil drains quickly, and after one day I am usually rid of it.

The regimen has changed a bit. I don't chew on garlic anymore with the affected tooth, as it actually CAUSED my teeth to crack a little bit. So that's a little warning. However I still eat it every day. Neem leaf+echinacea tea I am keeping up. Oil pulling I am keeping up. I am rinsing now with saltwater + xylitol, because xylitol has some amazing effects. Also applying urine (due to the urea content and possibly vitamins) and/or xylitol seems to help the gums, as my gums do not get burned anymore by garlic application. There is also a case that got rid of the tooth root infection by using urine therapy + water fasting. But I love to eat too much.

The most radical change now, sparked by the small crack in the tooth, is that I eat a Weston Price like diet for tooth remineralization. I aim for foods high in fat soluble vitamins (A, D, and K) and supplement with K2. I avoid phytic acid. Also I use comfrey-root oil + eggshells. Be careful not to overdo comfrey-root as it taxes the liver.

I have been on the diet for a bit over a week now, and the comfrey-root+eggshells for 5 days. The vitamin K2 I have used just one day now . I can see that the crack has become less visible (it used to be black, now it is almost like a craze line).

My gum around the tooth has receded a bit though, because I was exerting too much pressure during the last drain.

So all in all, nothing has aggrevated, but I hope the balls of puss will soon stop coming entirely. I am very happy to have found the Weston Price diet due to the stupid crack. I am confident that the crack will become invisible in a month or so, but I will keep updating.

French Green Clay

My four year old had a tooth abscess a few weeks ago. It was in the gum above one of his top front teeth. I only knew what it was because my firstborn had had the same thing almost 20 years ago. At the time we knew nothing else to do so we went to the dentist. I think the dentist pulled the tooth and gave him an antibiotic.

Well, knowing what to do at home didn't mean a four year old was going to be too keen on my treatment plan. The best course of action seemed to be putting clay on the abscess overnight. I have done this myself and knew the clay would stay put, or at least would only slowly wear away from the area overnight. Anyway, it seemed the best option!

I had French Green Clay powder handy (thanks to Mmsg's mention of it a number of times over the years! ) and mixed equal parts in a little cup. I waited a few minutes until it was like mud. I smeared a pea sized amount over the abscess area after he was in bed and very sleepy. I made a point of making sure he was tired at bedtime so he wouldn't mind so much. I was afraid if he was awake for a while he would fool with it and it would end up not being where I wanted it. In the morning, I removed what was left with a paper towel.

I did this 3 nights in a row. I didn't do anything else. (Maybe I gave him vitamin C during the day, can't remember now. It would have been a good idea anyway! ) After 3 days it was gone. As if it had never been there.

Bentonite clay would have worked as well I think, the French Green was just the most handy at the moment. And I love French Green Clay. It is so silky!

Buyers Beware - the new GSE no longer has citricidal in it, that is why it tastes different than the old stuff. The reason is some red tape. There is a brand that has it but you have to do so research to find it, supposed it is the one that is for external use.

EC: Nutribiotic, the company that was the first to manufacture Grapefruit Seed Extract, now makes one called "Citricidal Grapefruit Seed Extract". Their old brand of GSE is called Vegan GSE.

You could stop using flossing-sticks and use a Water-pick instead. Floss cab cut gums between teeth rather quickly and not always knowingly. Before using Garlic on my own abscess, my regime was 3% Peroxide flush, brusing teeth with toothpaste, then half a capful of Listerine. The detritus which comes out after spitting into the basin, has to be seen to be believed!

Lastly, I use a Water-pick with warm water and a small amount of a liquid freshner and again, I'm staggered by what is flushed out. Obviously, prevention is preferable to cure but I've stopped flossing because a cut gum permits bacterial entry and with all that stuff secreted within the teeth-crevices, it seems to be asking for trouble.

At one night, I noticed a swelling on my gums above one tooth with a huge amount of composite filling. I went to the pharmacy first to get some Corsodyl (both the mouth water and the gel). Also I used salt-water for rinsing. The swelling subsided a bit. then a few days later I went to the dentist, who said that the root was infected and that I needed root canal treatment.

I had some distrust to this diagnosis, as I did not have any pain (pain typically precedes the swelling in periapical abscess). he had taken x-rays, but he was not very clear why that indicated an infection of the root.

I learned though that in some cases there may not be any pain with a periapical abscess. On the other hand, I found that some infections may seem like they are at the root but are in fact not and are just periodontal. Anyway the pain was non-existent, and the swelling was small. So I thought it was a bit early to say that horrible treatment (both in terms of the poisining as well as the amount of money) is the only thing you could do for a tooth. And if I failed to cure it myself, there was time enough left before things would get wrong severely.

So I start looking for some of the natural treatments online. The first thing I found was neem powder which has strong antiseptic effect. Then I found this great website earthclinic, where there were many things you could do for an abscess: garlic, oil pulling, echinacea, etc.

My regimen:

-oil pulling as I woke up and at other times when I had a near empty stomach. olive oil worked best for me. coconut oil is simply too delicious.

-rinsing with salt water after meals

-taking a clove of garlic, then biting it in smaller pieces. If burn, then swallow some or add some water. most of the pieces however parked right next to the abscess.

-putting a wet teabag on the abscess after the rinsing

-drinking tea with neem powder and echinacea powder a few times a day. maybe a third of a small spoon of each added to grean tea or water.

-I stopped eating bread which sticks to the teeth and whose carbohydrates seem to be ideal for feeding bacteria.

-in a few days, the puss became visible, so I started some draining procedure.
Draining procedure: sterilize needle by boiling it in water; poke a hole at the site where the puss is visible; then use paper tissues to push the puss out.

-when it was draining, at some point I decided to give the alternative (no fluoride) toothpaste a go, and to stop the fluoride toothpaste. While the abscess was very miniscule at this point, it is noteworthy that the day after the abscess was gone. The toothpaste I used was using water, coconut oil, neem powder and echinacea powder. I now use this and sometimes add some salts (e.g. sodium+potassium) in there.

-After using the regimen, it only took me 3-4 days and the abscess was entirely gone.

TODO:

Now that the abscess is gone, it is worthwhile to think that there may still be a small infection inside that may come back to form an abscess at some time. So I plan to maintain a oral health regime like this, though perhaps with a bit lower frequency.

-I will report back if the abscess reappears so to inform the community.

You do not need to poke a hole in your gums, I think it is unnecessary, just use DMSO It is a carrier it will carry whatever you want right into the infected site. Basically 1/2 teaspoon DMSO with whatever sterilizer your using I use MMS or Sea Salt, and 1/8 or 1/4 cup water and I just brush onto my gums and try to not get any on my teeth let it soak in for 20 minutes and rinse

Hi Lynn. You were asking how Colloidal Silver , Manuka Honey and Hydrogen Peroxide are used to stop cavities. When I use Colloidal Silver on a sore tooth, I usually will soak a cotton pad and keep it on the tooth for 30 seconds and then I gargle some more Colloidal Silver. When I use Manuka Honey, I just rub it in or on the sore spots. With Hydrogen Peroxide, I just simply gargle with it. These have all worked wonderfully for me and my family. I hope this helps!

I wanted to avoid surgery. So, I asked a expert cavitation dentist , if there was any other way to cure a jaw bone infection besides surgery ? He said, No, surgery is crucial because the infection must be scraped out and off the jaw bone, once this is done it gets the blood circulating to the area. The scraped infection is sent to the lab for identification, then have your doctor can treat the findings. Before surgery I had 25 shots of ozone in my mouth in a two week period . These shots did not touch my infection my case is severe. Another option is go to hospital bone infections are treated with long terms (like six months ) IV antibiotics this is standard.

I had cavitation surgery done twice one site was done three times, I guess that is pretty common.

Or even Manuka Honey works, as well as Hydrogen Peroxide. I have stopped cavities with all 3 of these treatments! And not one them involve pain. Please give one of them a chance! Be well and pain-free.

So I haven't tried the tea bag thing but I was wondering about poking a hole in the gums.... Does it matter where? What did you use to poke it

If the tooth is fully there I know itll come out the gums but what if my tooth broke and there may be a passage to drain out of, er I hope so at least, is that possible?

How many days did you wait til u poked a hole in it?

How long does it take to heal?

Does it just go away or keep coming back if everything does not come out the first time?

Swedish Bitters

★★★★★

In some cases, soaking Swedish Bitters on cotton or cloth and putting it on the abscess (on the gum or bump on the gum) will greatly help, and if done regularly (at least once or twice per day), it can make the abscess go away.

Some health food stores stock Swedish Bitters, but it is more economical to order it on the internet.

It is worth a try. Drinking the stuff can do a lot of good for the body as well.

I use oil of oregano. 2 to 4 drops under the tongue and it works for all the symptoms mentioned here, without killing the good bacteria.

I think you were supposed to mix it with water.
