Homemade Thieves Oil

Homemade thieves oil I did not find this remedy listed in there eczema section and I had nothing short of miraculous results.

I had a small, approximately dime sized patch of eczema on my elbow. Even my doctor told me there was nothing to do about it except "manage" it. Among the natural cures I tried: ACV, lavender oil, tea tree oil, coconut oil, hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, OTC eczema remedies, oregano oil: these are the ones I remember. NOTHING helped and I had this patch for YEARS which I would sometimes scratch to the point of bleeding. Homemade thieves oil applied neat daily knocked it out completely in under two weeks and have had no sign of remission for well over a year now. I just want to share this in case it helps anyone else.

You can buy thieves oil but I googled a DIY recipe and made it at home: essential oils of cinnamon, clove, lemon, eucalyptus, and rosemary.

Kefir + Colostrum

Milk kefir and bovine colostrum both cure eczema. They are gut healers. My husband had eczema, and we finally found a cure. It's cheaper and better to make your own milk kefir. I found a facebook group offering free milk grains to make your own kefir, you just have to pay the shipping. Since kefir grains multiply, you can share them with others who need help. It's simple to make as well, and you can flavor it any way you like. We like to add a little sugar, frozen grated lemon, and strawberries to ours. Also, for the skin, if he broke out we would use first the dmso, then colloidal silver and aloe vera gel. You can skip the colloidal silver if you don't make your own; because otherwise it's too expensive to purchase. These seem to stop the itching.

Parasite Connection

Hi, I had some kind of eczema/dermatitis off and on this summer on a different finger at different times. I've had this kind of dermatitis before but this summer it was worse and the itch was really super annoying. Nothing helped it until I remembered a remedy that I heard a naturopathic doctor talk about for poison ivy. That remedy is: - rub sea salt (dry or slightly damp) into the blisters (they will break) - rinse with water - final rinse with hydrogen peroxide poured from bottle - keep uncovered - will dry out and - will not spread. I did everything but the hydrogen peroxide rinse each time. The itch was gone immediately, it dried out and healed. It's the only thing I tried that worked You may have something similar?

Thank you for the suggestion. I've wondered about gluten before, but haven't yet eliminated those three. I'm more than willing to try anything at this point. Thanks for taking time to post.

Last summer, 2017, I started to get eczema on the top of one foot which seems to be caused by any shoe material. It was quite minor, just a few itchy spots here and there. However, this summer has been particularly brutal with itching and the spots keep appearing in different areas on my foot, depending on which sandal I wear. Hot weather and any sugar consumption definitely make it worse.

I have tried almost all the remedies on Earth Clinic's eczema section one at a time this summer to no avail. These remedies include topical borax paste, topical magnesium, Art's indigo powder in cetaphil remedy, lugol's iodine, baking soda paste, sea salt poultice, Himalayan salt poultice, topical apple cider vinegar, and finally essential oils like lavender, tea tree oil and mint. Most of those remedies soothe the area but nothing gets rid of it. Also to note: any remedy mixed in a cream lotion or oil like coconut oil makes the rash itch fiercely and spread.

The best remedy so far has been holding a qtip dipped in lugol's iodine on each itchy spot for about a minute as it takes away the fierce itch for about 12 hours. However, it also stains my foot and takes a couple of days to disappear. I am going to switch to decolorized iodine and try that next.

I was wondering if anyone had additional suggestions of remedies I can test.

Art, I am on day 2 of Pine Bark Extract supplements. That is the first supplement I am trying internally to treat this condition.

Thanks so much for any and all advice! D

Dear Hb,

I am so sorry to hear about your baby's eczema!

I would take her off strawberries for a while, especially if they are not organic.

If it would be possible for you to make goat milk kefir fresh, that is the first thing I would be trying. If not, some high quality plain yogurt (maybe with some of the fruits you give her.) I think Fage is a good one.

Topically for relief, if you could find a plantain or calendula salve at your health food store it may provide some relief. It isn't hard to make and I can walk you through how to do that if you think you would want to make your own.

I would also try some baths with baking soda or Epsom salt or raw organic apple cider vinegar, 1/2 cup if a tub of warm water.

Did the eczema begin when you began the formula? Have you tried any other types? What does the pediatrician think is the cause?

I hope you find relief for her soon!

I thought of two more things to help after making my last comment. One is -- you are giving her formula. Are you using tap water, or fluoridated water to make her formula? Because both of those have fluoride, and tap water also has chlorine -- and fluoride and chlorine cause eczema, because the body is trying to detox these toxins through the skin. I take gallon containers to my local grocery or health food store and refill them with water that has been filtered, run through reverse osmosis, and treated with ultraviolet light. When I move to a new area, I try all the sources of this kind of refillable water -- to find which location has the best tasting water. I would use this kind of water to make baby's formula with.

Secondly, I would give her organic coconut oil -- probably in her formula. I read Adelle Davis' book called Let's Eat Right To Keep Fit, and in it she writes of a baby that had eczema, and she fed the baby vegetable oil, because he had been on a low fat diet. The baby was ravenous for the vegetable oil, and it healed his eczema. I'd put coconut oil in baby's formula, because it is the BEST vegetable oil of all, and also kills viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi! As for how much coconut oil to give a person, I just follow my instincts, although you might want to online search on that as well. It's been a long time since my kids were babies.

I'm a 16 year old girl, and I have had eczema almost all my life and I could never get anything help my eczema until a few months ago I was just looking in the internet, people were using Vaseline, honey ect so I thought to combine the both so I did. It has helped a lot and for a teenager it is hard having eczema! But to use this just get 375g petroleum jelly, it's the same as Vaseline, get honey put both into a microwave bowl it doesn't matter how much you use of both, and 3 teaspoons or water. Then put into microwave at least for one minute to make sure the Vaseline or petroleum jelly has melted and mix it threw and apply to eczema:) I hope it works for you guys! It has for me:)

Hello, I have three boys (6, 5, and 4 )and all of them suffer from eczema. The oldest one has already outgrown it, the middle one does much better, and the little one is still not good. This is my second post here, the first one you can probably find back a few years ago when I found an aurvedic cream Turmeric from India, that cured my oldest son like a miracle when he was about 2 years old. You can the cream in any Indian store or I buy it online now... We still use this cream a lot for any wounds, cuts... Surprisinly, it didn't help my second and third boys... Long story short, I have been trying everything under the moon to get relieve for the kids. Those parents whose children suffer from eczema, know how painful it is to see your children suffer.... This summer I've been taking boys to the city swimming pool and I noticed that the skin of my youngest boys is so silky and healthy , like a newborn baby. I shared my thoughts with my husband, saying that chlorine cured Michael's skin and my husband only laughed at me. We spent so much money buying an expensive water filter for the whole house(reverse osmosis)... Knowing how bad chlorine is.... I had nothing to say to him.... But I felt that chlorine helped and when we stopped going for the classes, in a few weeks skin got worse... Then we had a consultation with a dermatologyst in Mayo clinic Gainsville. (it is another story and I 'll skip it) , but the doctor noticed that my son's skin is dry... " I'll tell you what to do, You need to wash him in a house bleach 1/4 to 1/2 cup to a tub of water twice-three times a week" I was shocked, so it was not only my feelings! I came home and did search on household bleach and eczema. there is science behind it! you may look thru this article, or you may search many more : http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/eczema/news/20090427/bleach-baths-may-help-kids-with-ezcema

Reading these articles you'll see the how chlorine helps to cure the skin. And I really want to hear positive results from you!

Apple Fast

I have decided to do the 3-day apple fast after living with a severe eczema flare all over my body for the past 7 months.

I was diagnosed with discoid eczema and was prescribed a steroid cream which does help with the itch; however it has been very damaging to my skin so I have stopped using it.

About a month ago I decided to give up dairy products and see if that makes a difference. My skin improved significantly although it did not clear completely. So my plan is to do the 3 day apple cleanse and then become completely gluten and dairy-free along with taking a probiotic and fish oil supplements. I also apply plenty of moisturiser – ITMve found Cetaphil to be the most effective. Virgin coconut oil and QV lotion are also great hydrators.

I'm now into day 2 of my apple detox and I'm feeling pretty hungry! I only have to look in the mirror though to remind myself why I am doing this. I'm already seeing some improvement in my eczema and I'm not as itchy. Fingers crossed it continues to improve! I will update again at the end of my apply detox!

Olive Oil
Posted by Baj (Cincinnati, Oh) on 03/17/2013

Really bad 17 months, five doctors. Skin on back of neck would tear if I tried to look left or right at stop sign. Skin on lateral shoulders, front, and around scapula on back... Torn and could lay on them. Entire neck, shoulders down to almost bust, dark pink to red. During flare up, usually at night, skin around neck and shoulders would lose fat underneath, be extra tough, red, bleeding in areas, sore, unusalbe, unable to sleep.

Original start was left eye... Lid, underneath... Diagnosed with eczema. Later research said can go to cellulitus, which can get serious, as if the ezcema and allergic flare ups were not bad enough. Later it was both legs, both hips, buttocks, forearms, left inner elbow... Unusable, would tear if I straightened it. Area as big as all my fingers put together. Finally at 2am on Friday night... Saw cellulitis spreading... From hips up to under arms, especially right side. Checked to see when urgent care opened next am.

They gave me two shots... Benedryl and a cortisone. Nose swab for staph, ie cellulitis, 3 days for results, pending Scripts for anti itch atarax, ranradine to keep stomach calm and to ensure drugs stay down, Clindamycin 300 mg every 8 hours. Here was a big miss by other docs... They didn't hit me with antitbiotics at all, or when they did, not hard enough.. ie only 12 hours, now I set alarm and take one during night... Never miss too much with the timing of your antibiotics. HUGE natural help...

Stopped all fish oil, no flax etc. Instead started on 2 plus tablespoons of EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil, make sure some is before bed. My research... Extra virgin has phenols and nitric oxide no. This stopped my flare-ups in their tracks and I was able to sleep comfortably, nightime dose of antibiotics aside. Other benefits... Before flare up my body would start revving up... like a profuse pounding pulse, building, sometimes bp would go up, wold wake me up rather suddenly.... Then the flare up... intense bursts of itch, burn, resulting in skin losing good attractive fat around upper chest, shoulders, locked into not moving head from side to side, or bending left elbow. All this stopped in its tracks after eating two tablespoons... This is your bigger measuring spoon, plus I was even getting profuse pain around heart and this stopped. All stopped dead cold in its tracks. Fast too, difference in hours to max of two days.

Keeping it going though. Eating it straight for now, awful, but will incorporate into soups, bread, meat marinade as I get time to. Look it up.. Cannot eat bread right now anyway, eating like a caveman, fruit, meat, no fried no breaded, vegetables, egg and chocolate are ok. Added potato back in tonight, ok. Rice is now ok too. Allergist got me off topical steriods which were only thinning skin and causing rebound effect. Gave me list of two product lines... Vani and free and clear. The skin LOVES vaniclear OINMENT. I cover it with that, then the vaniclear lotion which allows the ointment to stay in place longer. Had to dilute hydrogen peroxide with water to clean areas. Oldly but goody, right at grocery. Use free and clear shampoo, good, but use olive oil mister on my very long hair, on off days, every other wash. Allergy tests showed issues with some product ingedients of commerical shampoo and rinse.. But not hair color, dark blonde. Ditto nickel, bactrim topicals, carba mix, mdgn and all derivatives there of... Reactions.

I will never take fish oil or flax or tons of the POLYunstaurates again. The olive oil has the proper mix of mono to polyunsaturates. Also huge well documented research on reducing imflammation, anti oxidant (think anti rust), relaxes miles and miles of blood vessels via the nitric oxide... Anyone familiar with nitroglycerin tablets for unrelenting chest pain? Same idea except natural, can take your dose your timing, your comfort level on the extrz virgin olive oil. The extra virgin is the first press of the olive, therefore with the bigger part of the real nutrition... The phenols and nitric oxide... See wikepedia, etc. NO named moecule of the year in 1992. Also studies show anti cancer benefits. So knock out you flare ups and put off cadiovascular issues and reduce risk of cancer. I highly recommend extra virgin olive oil. It has kept the nightime flare ups... And remember we burn fat at night because we are not eating. Also keeping daytime flare ups stopped dead.... As I take the other of the two tablespoons during the day. Able to cut back nibbling alot, actually lost a bit of weight. 150 pound female in 50s, so adjust your dose accordingly.

I had a terrible itchy rash on my arm for months. I tried countless things but nothing helped. I read about Borage Seed Oil on this website. I got some and took 3 capsules a day. In two weeks my rash was gone. (Improvement happened pretty quickly. ) I ran out last week and my rash started to come back. I got another bottle of Borage Seed Oil today! I have never been diagnosed with eczema, but that seems the most likely based on symptoms.

Hi, Firtly I'd like to just say thankyou for the time and efforts to keep this wonderful website as it has helped so many of us.

Back to eczema, I know of two people whose eczema got significally improved with Colloidal Silver. The first one was a little girls whose arms were badly infected with it constatly itchy and red. When the mother finally decided to give it to her, it disappered completely and as far as I know no longer has that problem as I see her from time to time and has no visible eczema. Second person is my husband who has a small spot on the back of the shoulders and soon after appered an ongoing weeping spot on the ear.

Neither of us knew what this ongoing bleeding on the ear was caused by. My husband din't even make the time to go to the doctor, so finally after trying several things on this constant scab such as oxigen peroxide, iodine which didn't help. I suggested colloidal silver to which I am very familiar with and have taken for several years to control the Rickettsia virus.

After less than a month and with inconsistency of use (my husband is difficult when it comes to taking care of himself) his eczema stopped bleeding and the scab is gone. The other red patch of eczema is clearing up in colour slowly, but definitely not itchy at all.

Regards to you all!

Multiple Remedies

Hello Larry. I too get eczema. My belief is that we don't metabolise fatty acids properly - so taking them in the diet (and oral supplements) doesn't help that much. What I found does work... Or at least help... Is applying oils topically. Not just on the eczema area, but mainly on the thin skin of the body, after a bath, when it is more easily absorbed. I find that the skin all over my body - including areas that I don't apply oils to - are more moist. When I first started doing this 2 months ago, my skin would drink the oil, and it would soak in within 5 minutes. Especially on my hands. One day, I repeatedly applied oil five times I. E. Applied it once, and it soaked in, applied it again, and it soaked in... 5 times. The last time it took about 30 minutes to soak. These days each application leaves my skin moist for 3 or 4 hours.

My point is that it seems to take quite a long time before you build up your reserves. And I eat loads of nuts and seeds and salad oil and coconut oil (for cooking) - so I was getting a lot in my diet. However, the small amount (2 tsp a day) is more effective than the several Tbsps of oil I am eating in my diet.

The oils I use have been trial and error. I think it wouldn't be the same for you because you may be low in a different fatty acid/s to me. The important thing to stress is not to apply half a cup (ha! ) of oil to your skin. But to do small amounts (maybe half a tsp), several times a day. I think our bodies can better process it... Since we don't seem to fare well with oil metabolism... and it's less of a shock.

My suggestion to you is to perhaps start with hemp seed oil - because it has a good ratio of omega 3 to omega 6. I have a recipe for making a handcream - if you don't like the idea of rubbing oil on your hands/inner thigh/forearms/chest. It uses oil, water, emulsifying wax - and is easy to make. Good luck, and I hope this helps!

I have severe eczema on my calves, lower legs, a little on my thighs. probably due to stress and who knows what else. acupuncture helps. (i've had eczema in the past but never this bad). one thing i've learned helps speed healing and brings great relief: rubbing baking soda on affected areas in the shower, letting it sit for a minute, then rinsing off. also a cold rinse in the shower at the end helps.

i cant put any oils on, no help. WITCH HAZEL helps curtail itching when it starts, so I periodically throughout the day slap on some witch hazel. good luck everyone, I know it's frustrating! :)

Castor Oil

i have suffered from eczema for more than 5 years. I had chinese medicine (herbal tea of a kind) and my skin healed completely for about 4 months. Then winter came and my eczema got really bad. First it was the front of my neck then it spread all the way around. I tried using olive oil to moisturise the skin and it didnt really work. Then, a family friend whose son also suffered from eczema, recommended castor oil. I went and bought some from the chemist and applied it to my neck.

the next day I applied it to my neck when I woke up and when it dried up. I had to sleep with a towel on my pillow otherwise my pillow would soak up the oil. it worked within 2 days. my skin got softer (when my eczema was bad it would be hard), more moist, and it healed, but not completely.

the biggest setback was when I would scratch in my sleep without knowing and find blood on my pjs and hands. I found that the dead skin on my bed probably didnt help so I moved to sleep on the floor. this helped alot.

hoped this helped

To add to my remedies for eczema, one Ayurvedic remedy that very cooling and soothing for pitta eczema - especially on the face - is a turmeric & yogurt mask. It is very cooling and soothing on "hot" kinds of eczema. I use plain Greek yogurt without any additives, and you can find turmeric in the spice aisle of the grocery store. Leave on for 20 minutes and wash or tissue off. Be careful, because turmeric can leave permanent stains on clothing and towels.

I have had an unsightly patch of thick red scaly skin on the side of my nose for some years. I have tried many of the remedies cited on the EC site with only limited and temporary improvement.

When looking up my lemon recipe book I came across this eczema remedy.. "50:50 lemon juice and pineapple juice, applied hourly until cured". Well I didn't have any lemons at the time but did have the pineapple so I squeezed a little juice and applied a couple of times during the day and again at night. The improvement was dramatic. I continued with just the pineapple juice as I thought the lemon might be a bit severe on my face. I kept the juice in the fridge for up to 3 days.. It didn't seem to reduce its effectiveness by not being really fresh. I used night and morning for a week and now have only a little dry area of normal coloured skin. Perhaps a strict compliance with the remedy using lemon as well as pineapple and using only fresh juice would be a much quicker remedy. Try it out.. it certainly is worth it, and entirely safe and painless.

The earliest I remember ever having eczema is when I was 7 and I remember it mainly being underneath my knees. I used cream a dermatologist gave to my mother and that's the last I remember of it. I was unaware at the time that I actually had excema. I always remember having extremely dry skin all over the lower half of my body. As I got older, and started to see my doctor, I just attributed it to being heriditary as my dad has ridiculously dry, flaky skin -- but he doesn't have excema.

Anyways, for years and years and years I NEVER showed my legs or feet to anyone but my family. It wasn't because of my excema that I had no idea about until this doctor informed me of it at 22 (I'm 25 now), it was because of all of my blackheads and uneven skin tone, dry, cracked feet etc.

In 2010 I went to Barbados to a family reunion and of course, as it was hot as ever, decided to wear shorts, skirts and dresses. Most summers back home in Toronto, it didn't matter how hot it was - I wouldn't be caught dead doing this! For some reason when I came back home from that trip I continued to show off my skin and body. I've always been skinny and tall, people always would say you should model, blah blah and it's like... they have NO idea what my skin looks like! I could never be a model! Please.

I would say once summer ended that year in 2010, my eczema that was finally revealed to me from my doctor was acting a fool and flaring up like crazy. He prescribed me Elidel, Hydroval and Benovate in a period of two years (from 2010-2012). We all know how these things affect our skin! They all come in these tiny portions and it's like, sure I can put it on only the places where my skin is rough and flared, but my ENTIRE lower body itches so what do you do? And I had YET to find a cream and my doctor has as well, that will help relieve my itchy skin. Naturally I put these products on my entire lower half. What did the Elidel do? Weaken my skin where now it's like... An old lady who has wrinkly skin -- almost extra saggy layers of skin, plus it's naturally cracked, plus its dry, plus my skin is 20 different skin tones. It's just sad and embarrassing.

Last summer I went to England to visit my family for two months. Prior to this I had random flare ups. Omg, I went to England and it was the WORSE it's EVER been. I was in so much pain, itching my skin until to bled in PUBLIC and around my friends and family - totally embarrassing. And the worse part is no one there would prescribe me anything because they didn't know my history. I was forced to use these counter products like Eurcerin that at the time, made me itch even more. It was SO unbareable. During that time I got huge discoloration patches all over my knees and down.

No matter how much I try to stress to my doctor that I need a dermatologist, he just doesn't seem to get it. His response is more or less like, 'you'll have this forever, dermatologists are expensive. ' I just feel truly hopeless at this point.

I had quite a bit of acne on my face during my time in England as well which I think was unrelated to the excema. And after several months of over the counter acne medications, I decided to go natural on my face. Recently I decided to go natural on my body as well.

WHAT I'VE USED: I bought a jar of coconut oil and put that on my skin twice a day for two days straight and my skin has never felt so tight!! It was totally irritating. I was itching all over the place, it was crazy so I stopped using it, lol. But I will admit, in certain places, the eczema has cleared up and has somewhat dried up in a sense. I see people have talked about this working for them so I might continue you it tonight.

My doctor told me to buy a humidifier. In fact, two doctors have told me that. So fine -- I bought a humidifier for my room and honestly, it hasn't done much of anything. And it's even more irrelevant now that its spring in Canada and yet, here I am with excema outbreaks.

Late last year I started eating green Granny Smith apples once a day for a month straight JUST to be healthy. Funny enough, I see it on here as something that could help excema! BUT, during my time of eating the apples, I feel as though my acne flared up like crazy! So I stopped doing that. I tried again for two days straight this year, and the same thing so I've just stopped eating them altogether.

My doctor suggested grounded flax seeds, so last week I bought a whole bunch in bulk, grounded them up and have been putting it in my drink and food constantly. We'll see if this will help.

Before I bought the grounded flax seeds I was taking one flax seed oil pill a day and I don't know... The results are unknown. When I bought the flax seeds and finished the flax seed oil pills I decided to get Omega 3-6-9 instead, which I almost feel is making my excema worse, ugh. But then again, I never use things long enough to really tell.

MY QUESTION IS: After all of that, lol. When you use these remedies, does the eczema flare up initially and then start to become effective? Or is it meant to work instantly, so to speak? Because if it is meant to flare up, then I'll use some of these remedies longer then I have been.

People don't realize how debilitating having eczema is and I feel worse for the ones who have it shown visibly like on their face and neck, etc. Even going swimming is an issue and what kills me is, I actually have a nice body! And I'm so sick of hearing people tell me about it, little do they know. I'm 25 and I'm tired of living like this. I shouldn't be covering up, I want to show it off!

Help me, please!!!

I can relate. I used to have eczema on my legs a long time ago. Nothing seemed to work until I took Vit. B complex 100 and 4000mg fish/ cod liver oil. It finally disappeared. I stopped taking the B complex( when I took it one time again my skin started itching). I still take omega ( krill oil and fermented cod liver oil) . But around a year ago it flared up, but seemed to get better. But now since the heat here in Texas it has gotten really bad. We just got back from a camping trip and my left foot was actually swollen. I started putting Manuka honey on lately. Not sure yet if it helps. So I'm thinking may be try the B complex again...
