Mustard Powder

I have been suffering with an infestation for 7 months now. I've tried so many things and spent so much money and nothing seemed to make a difference. That was, until I was directed to this site and Toni's post. I was actually on the right track and didn't know it. I had been doing a mustard bath product every night for about 2 months. I would watch the bugs rise to the top of the water in the bath and was sure it would make them go away. The problem was, they were still laying eggs and hatching during the day before I did the mustard bath again. Now, since adding the regimen of the mustard powder in my shampoo, body wash and adding it to DMSO, something Ted had mentioned on the site, I am seeing a measured improvement. I am on day 8 and hope to beat Toni's 6-week time getting rid of them. The obstacles that remain are treating my ears, eyes and finding a lotion that can keep the mustard powder moist throughout the day. I'm having to retreat 2-3 times a day at work.

Hi. Very sorry to hear of this. I believe I have something like this also. I have drank Borax in a liter of water as well as bathed in it. It has seemed to help, but my most success came from putting Hairever scalp treatment on infested areas, this can be purchased from Puritan's Pride. I also have been washing with a lye soap called grandmas lye soap and it seems to help. I have heard that you can lather yourself from head to toe with vaseline for several hours and it will smother these critters. When I use the scalp treatment I seem to have these black specks come out of my skin. I also have the white pimple like bumps that looks like larva.

About the borax- 1/4 tsp. It is simple. Just get some measuring spoons ( like the ones used for cooking ) And get the one that says 1/4 tsp, dip it in the borax and get a level scoop and add this to a liter of water and drink throughout the day. The spoons are called measuring spoons. ( availiable where you get kitchen supplies like cookware )

I would like to mention that I would do everything I could to get my ph alkiline. This can be accomplished with baking soda taken interally. Read this site for now on. I have been studing on Earthclinic.com now for several years and have barely scratched the surface of what all is availiable here. There is so much on here, I could not even begin to tell you.

The vaseline petroleum jelly would be worth a shot and I would most certainly use the scalp treatment on the infected spots. If you have black specks come out of your skin, then we are dealing with the same critters. The scalp treatment penetrates the hair follicles and gets deep into the pores. Rub it in the skin for several minutesand then let it sit on the skin for about five minutes and wash off with some lye soap and a wash cloth or something to wash away the dry skin.

On this site if you study, you will find that disease, parasites and sickness cannot live in an alkaline body. Tons of info here. Learn to navigate this website.

Best of luck! You can reply to me anytime, because I am a daily reader on here. And I always will be. So feel free to post questions or comments anytime with the reference to skin mites or something like that so that it will catch my attention. I don't read every post on here, but ones that catch my interest or that I have things in common with I do read.

Oh and use GOOGLE! For websites and referances to lye soap and puritanspride.com

I am experiencing an infestation of what I believe are bird mites. The critters are perhaps 1/2 mm long & bite. I am now using a garlic preparation that works well, killing the bugs & keeping them away:

1. Crush several cloves of garlic and let them steep in about 1/4 cup of mineral oil or bath oil for some hours (Baby oil is a mineral oil, Bath oil is a soluble mineral oil & worth the cost). Add some lemon juice to reduce the smell. Push the mix firmly through a fine strainer.

2. Add some liquid soap to mineral oil to emulsify then thin with a quantity of water suitable for rubbing on your skin.

It works really well. The recipe is based on a home insecticide recipe I found, modified for topical use. The only down side is the pervasive smell, but frankly I just really need the sleep. The quantities are rough: you are looking for a fairly pungent mix that does not irritate your skin.

My particular critters are only slightly deterred by tea tree oil, now they're running scared. I have tried permethrin based surface sprays & bombs which have had no effect whatever. Since permethrin is (supposedly) non/low toxic I even sprayed my hat to sleep in. The bugs just laughed.

Garlic & onions store their winter food just above the soil, where most of the bugs & bacteria live. So it's not surprising they have developed effective & general defenses against animals & bacteria.

The mite family has 50,000 species & of course they pre-date insects. They are top survivors. That species number also indicates they are masters of evolution & adaptation, quickly adapting to local food source & conditions.

Before I tried the garlic I thought I was screwed, completely. There are a number of other things to try: oregano oil is a top contender. I am also looking at rosemary oil & citronella oil. I intend to emulsify these for a surface spray. Steam cleaners are a known winner. Some people recommend Windex, which just sounds like a death wish.

Good luck, you can do it.

I finally self diagnosed with the neglected tropical disease- subcutaneous filiariasis. Doctors dont seem to know about it here. Starts like pimples, but a white thing (or several) wont squeeze out. Then macules, sores that itch like mad. Eventually you get thread-like worms, living in your mid-layers of skin. One variety also infects the abdominal cavity. The vector is mosquito or midge bite. I have had it for 5 years, before I finally figured out. Been pulling worms out of my face for the last 6 months. Lesions all over body that never heal right. Wiki has a page on it that's informative- there's several kinds of filariasis including an eye worm that can blind.

there is a mycoplasma going around that allows these mite to live on people and animals the remedie is because the mycoplasma feeds from frontal lobe and ammonia and some acids symptoms can be mites, aligator legs, pink spots, weight gain, fatigue, lesions, insomnia, malnutrition, depression, swollen glands, headaches, walking nemonia, nervous condition etc. The cure is a slice of onion on forhead for several weeks changing onion only when it is dryed up and not plyable hold it there with sweatband put napkin over it to avoid ridicule, if that the problem you will feel it working after as little as a week for comfort de earth in between legs. the mites go when this mycoplasma dies. cure same for pets. you may need buy dog hat for them to keep it on.

Borax
Posted by Self (Ny) on 12/12/2010

Until Ted can get back to you personally:

Borax can dry the skin out, that's part of what may kill the mites. Ted did also recommend this on the rosacea thread (which also deals with mites) that if the skin gets too dry, apply jojoba oil or aloe vera or lavender oil.
Source: https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/rosacea.html

Perhaps you need to lessen the borax to 1/16 a teaspoon or less and take it less frequently as well. Some people are more sensitive than others. If it is still too much, stop. This website will tell of some of borax side effects. Most people who take the borax in the small doses listed in E.C. Seem to tolerate them well. But some sensitive people may experience the side effects listed here. Sometimes doses on E.C. have to be tinkered with as we all react differently to different things.

For eyes infected with mites, try Cliradex. Tea tree oil works for me - it stops the itch only and one has to reapply - better than drugs.

Honestly I had a 3 year fight with this & strong bicarb baths & a good dusting of Flowers of Sulfur all over repeatedly dayly worked. Then Kleen Green mixed with Dr Bronners Sal Suds into a liquid soap allso has worked on me as soap & in water on my animals & house has stopped them dead!! You need to do this every day. All of it include dusting your bed & furniture with the sulfur & wash or spray the Kleen Green on everything. No chemicals so well pleased with this result & the sulfur has a antdepressant uplifting affect. Persistance is definately the key cos it takes a while for the crawlings to stop completly!!

I recently stumbled across this site, and I know it was a blessing from above. A few months back I started an internal parasite cleanse with wormwood, black walnut hull tincture and cloves also using cascara sagrada and probiotics because of anemia and fatigue. Think something went wrong. Seems at the end of the cleanse, I ended up with these bites from the "inside" of my skin. May have stirred up something. They were really itchy at first. They started on my left arm and center of my chest and seemed to come two marks at a time. My left upper arm was/is covered with bite marks (now slowly disappearing). The bites slowly made it to other parts of my body, but they are random, not everywhere. The bites have gotten to my legs pretty well, though. The itching, for the most part, had stopped. The bites have turned to sores with a black ring around them. When I pick the "strange looking" scab, it leaves a "crater" in my skin. I do see what appears to be "tracks". I thought at first it was scabies, but the doctor assured me it wasn't. I did notice however, two "raised" bumps on my back. Being naturally prone to pick, I picked one of them and it was dry and squeaky. No blood or fluid. I was able to pick out some little black dots. Seems as though something may have been "nesting" in my skin! I am beginning day three of the borax in water. I do feel better, and it appears as though the scarring and sores are improving. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? Any other advice?

Get Ivermectin paste from Amazon. Sold for horses and cattle but it's the exact same thing as the human version! Take it internally and externally.

Also use tea tree oil, zinc, and sulfur cream. Diatomaceous earth, borax, HP and enzyme cleaners for the house! I also used my dog's flea/tick shampoo! Grab them with a pointy tweezer after dark when they come up from the follicle to mate! Use a magnifying mirror.

Also, scrape your skin from debris/biofilm using a credit card or similar.

Good luck

Just wanted to clarify, that D Gallinae is a bird mite NOT tropical rat mite.

I learned so much from a book called

THE YEAR OF THE MITE. I found it on kindle when I was researching one day.

About a small family that got infested with bird mites.

The author was "lucky". In that she worked for a university as a cell biologist, so she had friends working there, that were willing to do test and try and identify what kind of BUG she actually had. Un like the doctors and all their lack of help this bug was identified as D Gallinae.

Most people don't get thaT kind of help.

Her daughter and friend got it also.

She doesn't have a miracle cure and it took her about a year or so to get rid of the buggers.

But there is so much good info and it is SO VALIDATING.

Also google this:

timeline of scientific understanding of the mite.

This actually shows a chart study and e, planTion of when bird mites were PROVEN to infest people, not just birds.

This is something you can show to your non believing family And doctors.

Before 1958 it was believed that bird mites did not bite humans and could not reproduce on human blood.

Also in 1958 human blood WS found In a bird mites gut. These mites were collected from an infested bedroom.

U til 2009 it was still believed they could not reproduce on human blood.

In 2009-2010 it was proven that bird mites DO CONSUME human blood, do reproduce consuming human blood and DO easily infest humans, if given the opputunity, like a bird nesting in eaves of your house or attic, or even from your cat bringing in a dead bird, OR your cat maybe infested too.

Dr Olivier Sparangano specializes in the study of bird mites. All of this info and more I found in the year of the mite book.

It was easy to read and relatable, and filled with facts, that could help you, get your doctor to

Finally realize you ARE NOT CRAZY.

THIS IS REAL. PEOPLE NEED HELP.

Dr sparangano has these facts in YEAR OF THE MITE

You can get the full study from the book.

Take care all

About a week ago this last Monday was one week that I started itching and getting bites from "something" that I couldn't see. I started researching what could be biting me and I came to the conclusion that "bird mites" could be what was biting me. We have had squirrels living in our attic and we have had such a hard time getting rid of them. I saw one of the squirrels hanging out on my backyard and he was scratching the whole time. It then occurred to me that indeed it had to be rat/squirrel mites seeing as that that are the same thing but one has a fuzzy tail. Regardless as to which one it is, it is horrible. The itching and the scratching. I put everything in bags and I then washed a portion of clothes that we would wear and kept it in a suitcase. I then proceeded to buy neem oil, tea tree oil, borax, windex, disinfectant spray, turmeric powder. I know quite an arsenal. I applied all of these. Let me explain.

1. Take a shower with tea tree soap (nightly)
2. Wash hair with tea tree shampoo/conditioner(nightly)
3. Dry body with paper towels (keeps washing minimal)
4. Mix borax/hydrogen peroxide/water. Make into a paste and apply to bites. After you apply the paste cover with a small piece of cotton ball and cover with a piece of surgical tape. This will keep you from scratching and will keep you from itching. Plus, I noticed that since I started doing this to some of the newest bites, the ones i covered did not scar nor left a dark spot. Do this every night till all itching goes away.
5. I also take neem and turmeric capsules(once a day) that you can purchase at your local vitamin shop.
6. Washed all washables in borax and boiling water put in dryer and run 2 times.
7. You can put some cloths in a paper sack and staple and put in your oven on 200 degrees for 20 minutes. This will kill them.
8. Sprayed windex window cleaner on carpets and cloth furniture every night before going to bed.
9. Spray disinfectant spray on sheets, pillows, and blanket before you go to bed. I usually do this right before I take my shower.

This is day 2 with no more bites. I am thrilled and I hope that they are gone and never come back. Keeping fingers crossed.

I just hope that this helps anyone out there. Please don't wait. As soon as you get bites and there are no mosquitos, no flies, no fleas than assume they are some kind of mite and fight them head on. Wait and see mentality will just give them time to get very strong. Good luck!

I have had a recent skin mite infestation. Interestingly enough, I often take salt baths and clays throughout the week, this keeps my skin in good shape. I often have a dermatitis of some sort. For some reason I did not lower my entire neck and shoulder area under the water.that week I suffered the "rash" itchiness, crawling sensation on my neck and upper chest area and knees for a week. I believe my immune system was lowered due to a month long cold..I recall using bleach - 1 to 1 and 1/2 cups in bath water and submerging for 30 minutes to calm a skin condition. I read this in a Louise Gittlemens post. It did the trick and the mites were gone after the second bath. I have sensitive skin and suffer no reaction from the bleach in bath water. I don't believe you could do this for an extended period of time, but once or twice a week has been helpful.

SALIVA Kill DEMODEX mites and it's structure

Hello,

I am not a doctor, as Ted's contributions I would also like to help out with my survey and solution for this problem according to my own experience :

a) Uncomprehensible dermatologists does not know about this...and you lose lot of time with wrong diagnosis, problem getting worse, wrong treatments, being contagious,...

b) Skin thickness is a factor on the effectiveness on treatments

c) Stage of evolution of this insect is another factor on the effectiveness of treatments

To start with:

Babies: as they have thin skin, alcohol (ideally on gel to last more over the skin) kill the mites. Apply very small amount three times during one day and they are dead. Apply them to red dot supposed to be a mite attack. Caution: as the skin is so thin any product applied is absorbed so take caution on the amount of surface covered and on the amount and concentration applied, be very conservative on this.

Adults: When the mites are only superficial on a very early stage of development you can use alcohol too to kill them. Important here is to reach the wrinkles.

As you may notice the face skin is usually more thick than the rest of the body so it will be more effective on the rest of the body than the skin.

At an more advanced stage of development of the mite:

It will penetrate more deeply and form some structures so you can not reach them with alcohol and can not reach them with most of the products. So here we have the Ted solutions and I will introduce you another one:

Have you ever wonder why the mite does not develop inside the mouth or why they are destroyed when attack our lips ?

Well it's the SALIVA that degradates them.

So a solution for Demodex attacking our face is to apply Saliva on our face... but there are more strongest saliva than others. If somebody have very good teeth without too much care effort it shall be bacause their saliva is more concentrated ... this is what we need to use. Apply it and let it dry before a new application. If you are accumulating saliva you may keep if on cold at the refrigerate in order it to maintain it's properties. (of course it's a good advice to wash the teeth carefully before accumulating saliva in order to have it the cleanest possible). A good saliva is the best solution it degradates the mites and it's structures, it's safe, no toxic, acts like a miracle...

A product that works similar are the enzymes that are sold concentrated and you dilute in order to apply to your body. As they are composed of about four types of enzimes you have to make shure you are receiving a good balance of them, I mean a well mixed products because not all of them acts nor are they all as effective.

I hope I am helping here, any feedbak will be appreciated

Alva, are you taking the apple cider vinegar and garlic at least twice daily? (I take the grapefruit seed extract to help get rid of the garlic smell.) You can shampoo your hair with pine tar soap and leave it on for 15-30 minutes before rinsing. Massage in the borax with peroxide. Finally, rinse hair with apple cider vinegar with dissolved salt. Rinse with water.

Alternative treatment: One thing that I found that made a huge difference with mites crawling on my scalp is Pine Tar hair conditioner. Oil your scalp with it and around your ears and eyebrows. (You can buy it at Sally's in the US or order it online from Amazon.) It smells like pine tar so you might just want to use it when you are at home and shampoo it out before you leave home to go to work. (I leave it on while I am shopping and it does not appear to offend people, but in close quarters, it will offend others.)

A better smelling alternative: Mix equal parts dry mustard with water and leave it for 10 minutes. Mix one part mustard mix with 1 1/2 parts oil or lotion. Apply on your scalp areas only, not your hair. Actually, this works all over your body.

Diagnosing Mites

Hi all, I am wondering if I may have some type of mite infestation? How does one determine what type of mite it is? I notice the remedies are quite varied but seem to be directed at specific type of mites...

This summer, in the evenings, we usually sit on the patio for a little happy hour after work. This is between 6-7 pm. Summers (well, ALL seasons, actually) are very HUMID.

I noticed on several evenings that my right occipital orbit bone would become quite itchy and irritated but there was no obvious bite. I thought it was some kind of tiny mosquito, biting gnat or something like that, but it made no sense that it would always be in the exact same place. Occasionally there is a similar itchy spot along my right temple at the hairline.

Tonight, it is too cold to be outdoors, but the itching started in the same old place. The orbit bone is quite puffy and red, my whole right cheek is flushed red (no alcohol tonight so that is not the reason!) and there are two little bloody spots like pin pricks.

The left cheek was a little flushed but not itchy and no obvious bites. I really don't want this thing to spread, it would be a nightmare.

Any thoughts?

Two other things--I have an inside dog but have had him for 11 years. He doesn't seem any itchier than normal...
Also, this year, we started using a clothesline to dry our clothes and towels, especially during the drought when it was pretty hot and sunny all day, really saved on our electric bill. The line runs from the house to a big pecan tree that is heavily inhabited by squirrels and we also have a lot of birds in our yard (all kinds from sparrows to cardinals to hummers to owls). On at least one occasion, I had to rewash towels that had been hanging on the line due to being soiled with some kind of animal droppings...

I just washed all my towels and pillow cases in super hot water and washed my face with ACV followed with a layer of coconut oil.

This is a long post but I would appreciate any input.

Thanks and thanks, Earth Clinic, for this amazing site!!

To Dave from Dublin, I had another couple of ideas; If you get pure 100% Clove Bud Essential Oil, it will blend directly into your Castor Oil and I think it will help. I would not exceed 1-7 drops max of Clove EO per ounce of castor oil if you do this. If you can't get Clove Bud EO, I would throw a dozen cloves (same ones you might find in the spice aisle at your local grocery and use for cooking/baking) into a blender with the castor oil or, better yet, crush or grind them fine as you can with a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle, then mix them into the castor. If you leave the blended cloves and castor in a clear glass container in a warm place (or maybe 12 hours in the Sun), it will transfer the clove essence throughout the castor, then squeeze it through a stocking or something and strain the clove debris out. Or, you could extract the crushed cloves into Vodka, and add tiny amounts of the resulting extract into your Castor oil, that should blend in and hold.

True that the Borax itself would not *dissolve* into the Castor Oil, but I was thinking more of using the Castor Oil as a simple "spreading tool" for the Borax, in addition to Castor Oil's own valuable insect-relieving properties.

Finally, I am thinking that Black Walnut Hull (tincture or a vodka (or ACV?) extract of it ) may be of some value to you also, Black Walnut gets rid of a lot of parasite/insect issues, Google it and lots of stuff should come up.

One more thing, have you tried soaking in a weak Borax solution, using it like a bath, without 'scrubbing' on your shower-sensitive skin? Might be another good thing to do, if you can do it.

My thoughts about the vaseline:

As a child I got chiggers from wading through high reeds at the local riverbank several times. I used to have to put nailpolish on the welts and lay on the roof of my Mother's house in the Sun to kill them off.

It only worked because the nail polish cut the chiggers off from their air supply and they smothered as a result. So I think the purpose of the vaseline is to keep the mites from breathing. And I think it would take a thick coat of vaseline to do that. IOW I think that *wiping off* the vaseline (effectively leaving only a thin coat behind) would actually prevent it from being successful, and just cause an inconvenient mess for you while a large percentage of the mites go happily on.

I hope some of these ideas are useful for you. Please respond with your results if you use them. Be careful with the clove, use less rather than more until you see how your skin responds to it.

Note about Mustard: It can burn you (I understand that desperation breeds a willingness to try anything. Therefore I am urging you to exercise caution). I would be *very* careful about using it. JMHO. Patch test on tiny area of skin, etc- A good rule of thumb for everything in this email, BTW.

I have found a very easy way to tell if human have mites but since we all have them it is pretty much just a fast way to confirm. Shower/bath like normal or if you want add a couple of tea tree drops to your bathing products or 20 to your espson salt bath. :) afterwards even if you do none of that slather yourself with organic coconut oil (or any other oil you have like almond, olive, macadamian nut, castor - all good) then get the camera ready! Here they come, they all come squirming out of your pores. Hundreds came out of me. I've been doing this morning and night for 4 days and only this morning have they started to be countable like 60 etc. The tea tree oil kills the eggs too and massage yourself firmly and watch them come out it is disgustingly spectacular. Some get stuck in pores and cause breakouts. I did this to my whole family and we all had them come out. My son's arm was bumpy with the keratonisis and they squirmed out of there. I had lots come out of my feet most on uppper thighs and some out of my eye area that had been twitching and then finally the twitching stopped! Fantastic, please do it and tell everyone you know to do it. Thank you!! :)

Have read these post with alot of interest- it makes sense that mustard would work and any other product that draws. Clay is another product that as a 12yr sufferer of demodex I have found to help. Mustard has been used for centuries as a poultice to draw out splinters etc., clay is the same. Was thinking about the question of a carrier oil. Emu oil penetrates the skin to 6 layers deep. At least this may be a way to penetrate the layers easier and enter the follicles. I also found that using an LED machine has had great results.

Since the incubation period is about 2 Weeks, this would explain why after 2 Weeks you started itching again. You killed the adults the first time but the eggs hatched. Time your use of DE with this knowledge.

Ie.. first dose kills adults, apply second does in about 12 days and then another 12 days.

Hope this helps

I have been troubled by tiny red bites, itching, and stinging for about 2 1/2 months. I have made some progress deep cleaning with Kleen Green and treating myself with it, washing all clothes and bedding in hot water and borax after a single use, bagging all clothes, throwing out about 50% of my belongings, vacuuming three times a week and immediately disposing of the bag, and triple covering my futon and computer chair with vinyl mattress covers. I have also had some success with Ted's external borax treatment (thanks, Ted) but found the internal treatment very irritating to my bladder. I am now going to try silver and have ordered some of the ABL silver as suggested by Tracy. I am trying to figure out the maximum amount I can safely take and afford since I have seen posts here suggesting amounts as large as 4 ounces a day. Any suggestions? Also, has anyone tried di-limonene sprays or powders on carpets, for biting mites, with any success? Love the website and thanks in advance for your replies.

This is what I have been doing for over a month now, and my head hardly ever itches or gets sores.

Hydrogen Peroxide, Coconut Oil

re: Mite Infestation -- I, too, like others have suffered similar ailments--intense itching and red, swollen bites on upper part of body for three years, and until recently, my face. I am of African descent and my skin does not heal well, after any kind of bruising. When the redness and itching finally go away, I'm left with lots of black spots. Needless to say, it leaves me quite depressed and I'm not able to wear short sleeves, shorts or go to the beach (due to eczema on the lower part of my body). Well, I though it was bedmites or dustmites and replaced my mattress and linens and even wash these in hot water, ammonia and borax every couple of days. But almost every morning when I wake up, I find more red bumps.

Well, much thanks for Earthclinic!!! After reading many testimonials on different skin issues, I purchased ACV to neutralize my body's acidity and Organic Coconut Oil for eczema, etc. I was still getting my usual number of bites and tried 3% Hydrogen Peroxide for the itching; it helped for a couple of hours. Just by chance, I read about the lady who had tried Pond's face cream with the intent to "suffocate" the mites and I reasoned that coconut oil has such tremendous healing properties--bacterial/viral/fungual; this just might work. So, I put some on all over my face, chest and arms where I had bites and voila! The itching subsided within several minutes and by the end of the next day, the swelling and redness was 97% gone and I still have NO more itching!!! (I've also been taking the coconut oil internally but not diligently as I should be.)

I'm so ecstatic to share this with others and hope that you would have as much success as I did.

P.S. Ted, can you share any light on this. Also, since using ACV and baking soda, my eczema has flared up. I'm now trying baking soda only. (I also suffer from chronic BV).

Have you tried switching your diet and getting more sunlight (vitamin D). If you are eating sugar, the mites feed off of the sebum which is produces by excess sugar consumption.

Kleen-Free in Bath Water
Posted by Amanda (Tacoma wa) on 08/19/2023

I've been fighting this for two years, my case actually got worse and spread to the rest of my body while doing the klean free baths. My suggestion is to go to the Dr immediately and get on a treatment of oral ivermectin and permithrin cream then start on DIY things like topical cod liver oil, papaya scrubs, and dimithicone gel. Get immune boosting items like fermented beta glucans dandelion tea, bui bui suppliment, ect. Additionally, I like live free bed bug and mite killer for laundry and and spraying around the house it kills them in less than 1min. I have literally tried everything on this list except suspend SC and turpentine. On sensitive areas I use a and d ointment. You need immediate and aggressive medical attention or you could be like me. Good thing is more research is coming out now about treating this condition so research as much new stuff as you can. Best of luck friend.

Hello,

Forgot to mention that to get rid of these types of infections one must also treat their environment (house, yard, car, work environment):

Repellent: find an effective bug repellent and use it consistently on yourself and environment to prevent reinfetion if this involves a flying insect or even mites. some people sleep with nano-netting over their beds.

Laundry: depends on the organism. If strongyloides, must boil or iron clothes very well to kill surviving parasites that will penetrate through the skin. Hookworms and some flukes also can do this.

If mites, soak clothes 1 hour in cedarcide solution, enzyme solution, ammonia, borax/soda or borax/salt solution, many other effective solutions. Can add various essential oils to these soaks (e.g., orange, lemon, eucalyptus, tea tree, grapefruit seed).

Best to always iron clothes very well before wearing.

House: spray and vacuum most everything.

Spray solutions: enzymes, essential oils, cedarcide, 91% isopropyl alcohol (kills mites though will ruin some surfaces and very toxic if on the skin), ... there are many effective solutions to spray the environment with. Can also fog the environment with many of these solutions. And/or apply Diatomaceous Earth.

Best to know what organism you are trying to treat to determine the most effective way to treat your environment. Flying insects require additional methods (e.g., screening, zappers, etc...).

Palmarosa Oil

Hello everyone

I am writing to recommend a relatively inexpensive essential oil from a plant in the same family as lemongrass and citronella. Palmarosa oil.

It has a light citrusy smell, to me, though others say it smells rosy. It is far less expensive than sandalwood oil, which does work well but costs so very much - and therefore is often adulterated, I'm sorry to say.

It works. It works. Some sources recommend using it at 50%, yes that is fifty percent, in carriers. I actually have used it neat, at full strength, directly on my skin, on hot spots. Be cautious about that: it contains geraniol and related compounds and can sensitize people.

It does not feel dramatic - just slightly cooling. No burning. I believe it has "knockdown", which is to say it immobilizes the mites before killing them. This is because there seems to be very little crawling or new / intensified itching after it is applied.

Most importantly, it seems to kill eggs.

You can add it to body lotion or to shampoo and conditioner; use the least complicated formulas you can find or make your own lotion. It blends well with lemon oil, with tea tree oil, or with its relatives citronella, lemongrass, and also with geranium oil.

If you make a hair and body spray using ethyl alcohol, wear a face mask, as the mist WILL make you cough if you don't. I'm serious about this. To use the spray on your face, spray it into your hand to apply.

The hydrosol is supposedly safe for cats. Some sites claim the oil itself is safe for cats. I would urge caution, but it should be safe to use in a rug shampoo, in a cleaning solution for walls and surfaces, etc. as long as you use normal dilutions for it and ventilate the area as it dries. To use the hydrosol on Kitty, first wet a paper towel with water and squeeze out the excess, then spray hydrosol on the damp towel, and work it into the fur, trying to reach the skin. Don't spray Kitty, this oil can irritate the nose and throat to a surprising extent in mist form.

I am putting in a link to a paper I found a while ago, where scientists tested palmarosa and several other oils, and found that palmarosa and clove oil gave outstanding results. Since I found that paper, scientific publishers have been paywalling everything and charging horrible prices for access, so if this is also paywalled now I am very, very sorry. Here is the most important information from the abstract:

Results: Using contact bioassays, 1% clove and palmarosa oil killed all the mites within 20 and 50min, respectively. The oils efficacy order was: clove > palmarosa > geranium > tea tree > lavender > manuka > bitter orange > eucalyptus > Japanese cedar.

In fumigation bioassays, the efficacy order was: tea tree > clove > eucalyptus > lavender > palmarosa > geranium > Japanese cedar > bitter orange > manuka. In both bioassays, cade oil showed no activity.

Conclusion: Essential oils, especially tea tree, clove, palmarosa, and eucalyptus oils, are potential complementary or alternative products to treat S. scabiei infections in humans or animals, as well as to control the mites in the environment.

Here is the link: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s13071-016-1889-3

And yes, I'm afraid that this publisher is now paywalling everything. If you can get to the paper via your library or your workplace, it is well worth a read, but hopefully the bit I have quoted will help.

I am immunosuppressed [I have RA and can't take biologics] and added MSM to NAC and Neem oil for complete relief. Because I take glucocorticosteroids I will always be a favorite snack for these little devils. MSM has some sulfur in it and it kills demodex. Good luck, much love!

Don't forget your mouth. Make sure to hold vinegar in your mouth swish and gargle. Hold it in long as possible then spit. Some of the mites on your neck are in your mouth and they will rot your teeth. Also, a dermatologist at UCSF just started me on a supplement NAC. It helps with your insides. Coconut oil mixed with clove or thyme or mint. Works well as coconut oil is the only oil they can't feed on something to do with the acid. Good luck.

I've been sick 3 years and I fight every single day. Also don't forget inside your ears. I use Hartz mite drops for cats. Sounds crazy but suffering is worse. They hide in so many places one more thing. Vagisil with tea tree and boric acid the green one. For your privates. I only wish the best to all of you. No one deserves to suffer like this.

They get used to everythingI do. Ted's remedies do seem to help a lot of people...borax baths, taking baking soda 1/4 tsp 2x daily w 8, oz water on empty stomach etc. If you ever want to talk, pls feel free to contact me. I hate that I can't be around people or discuss it. Good luck and God bless everyone!!!

You could try putting alcohol in a spray bottle and saturating your sheet and mattress, turning back your top sheet and spray that too along with your pillows about 1/2 hr. or so before going to bed. It should be dry enough to not smell of alcohol. I have done that and it seems to work well.

Cedar Oil

Dear sister and fellow sufferers: After trying EVERYTHING, I finally mixed full-strength Cedar Oil Vet's Choice (enough to spread on body)with a little glycerine, maybe a tablespoon or two. After soaking in the borax/peroxide bath and drying with towel, spread this mixture over your skin. I use one of those puffy long-handled back brushes. It will be sticky. Get into your long pajamas so it doesn't make a mess everywhere. Remember that glycerine attracts moisture from the air. I have to change my nightshirt twice within a couple of hours. I am retired and at home so I can leave the mixture on all night and the next day too. Now the good part, after your next borax/peroxide soak look at what's floating on the water...clumps and clumps of tiny white larva! I'm 81, and haven't noticed or felt any adverse effects from the full-strength Vet's Choice.

Now, for the itching: Noxzema does a marvelous job of cooling the skin and stopping the itches and it's el cheapo. So does Absorbine Veterinary Liniment. I get both the gel and the liquid. I put the liquid in a spray bottle to spray around my ankles and bottoms of jeans. There's plenty of alcohol in both, so be careful around open cuts and sores. There's also good stuff in it like wormwood, etc.

Best wishes to you all.

Garlic Tea

I have to mention if I drank garlic tea my husband would not stay in the same room with me! Biting on garlic cloves three days for a tooth abscess was a trying time.

I chop up garlic cloves and gulp the pieces with a little water but some food needs to be in the stomach first (i.e., a well cooked carrot with a little butter or CO) or it will feel like your stomach is on fire. Been there and done that!

If they are returning it could be that there's a nest somewhere. Locate the nest then repeat the treatment using ACV and cleaning your entire home. Wash every material you own and what you can't wash put in a plastic bag for three weeks I left it for a couple months, repeat until they're are gone.

HI U TROOPER, , , , , , , , , , , ,

Good to see others who use stuff made for animals. We buy our MSM and DMSO from our Farm Co-op at much better prices.

The sulfur procedure you used for your mites is the same as what folks have done for many, many years to cure their dogs of mange, which is demodex mites.

Heat above 120 degrees will also kill mites and all that requires is a sauna. I would be interested in how long you did this procedure because you have mite eggs hatching for a period of time and would be surprised if this was a one shot deal.

Hi you could ask your doctor for Mirtazipine 15ml, take 1hr before bed this helps you sleep. As it really affects your mental health if you don't sleep. Also. I am on 180mg of fexofenadine strongest antihistamine stops most itches & your body's reaction to them.

I've also had Permenthrim, Ivermectin at same time, then used Perm a week later, helps to get rid of the worst but I think if I had used borax straight after & ACV washes & drinks may have completely killed off. I use a Uvb lamp to kill off any mites in my bedroom & bedding 3x aweek. Hope this helps
