I have used Lugol's internally for years. My wife had a major bladder infection and had 2 bio's performed and all kinds of drugs prescribed including a Dr. stating we were passing a virus thru sex back and forth. I refused to take the chemicals. Finally she wanted to try the Lugol's and within 2 weeks began to walk with no pain. I placed it in the water containers of my 2 dogs. My 3 pound 10 old dog came alive once again. I feel it killed all the worms in her that were bleeding her of energy. I believe in Lugols for everything. I purchase it by the 500ml's and give it away to people who are real ill or sick.

D-Mannose
Posted by Art (California) on 08/23/2025 2932 posts

Hi Eskaay,

D-Mannose is a type of sugar and is considered safe except possibly in diabetics and people with kidney disease in which case your doctor would need to monitor kidney function or HbA1c in the case of diabetics. My neighbor has been taking it for over two years at the two times per week dosing schedule and she loves it and wonders why none of her doctors over the decades ever suggested it to her instead of the potent antibiotics that can have serious side effects.

D-Mannose is derived from various fruits. Here is a brief article discussing D-Mannose that you may find of interest :

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/323938

Please be sure and read the "side effects and risks" section in the above article and also read their warning about long term antibiotic use for recurrent UTIs.

It is important to remember that my friend was not drinking this everyday, but rather only twice a week as a preventative.

Here is a link to typical D-Mannose powder products on Amazon UK :

Chamomile for UTI that didn't respond to anything else

A doctor made me take strong antibiotics in his office before a urology procedure and, sure enough, afterwards I wound up with the most aggressive UTI I've ever had in my life. I tried all the usual things, d-mannose, ACV, uva ursi, yogurt/probiotics, other herbs, and they had no effect. I started drinking large amounts of colloidal silver, which helped a little, but still no end in sight and the amounts I was taking weren't sustainable anyway. I searched as much as I could online and came across an article about chamomile being effective against drug-resistant bacteria that cause UTI, so I got some chamomile tea bags and started making double strength (two bags) cups of it. It upset my stomach a little because of how concentrated I made it but after the second or third cup there was major improvement. After the second day the UTI was gone. From now on I am always going to make sure I have a box of it in the house as an insurance policy if I feel the slightest burning down there.

I Have Used The Following Remedy Effectively To Treat UTIs In Family And Friends

This is what I make :

  • A 500 ml bottle of filtered water.
  • Add a half teaspoon of sea salt
  • Add 6 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract
  • Add one and a half teaspoons of D Mannose powder

After adding all ingredients to the bottle, shake very well and drink.

I repeat this process 3 times per day until symptoms start to noticeably improve and then I reduce to two bottles per day and continue for two days after all symptoms are gone. My family and friends have reported this to be a very good alternative to the potent antibiotics they have used in the past. Symptoms generally start to reduce around 3.5 days.

Borax, Vinegar, Magnesium Chloride

I am a 47 years female. Last night I felt a very severe urge to urinate many a times which I realised that the feeling of the UTI infection while urination has increased tremendously. I couldn't remember when I had UTI infection in my life but I could remember I had it once or twice . I was not taking an medicine and didn't wanted to. On searching on this website which I usually do for any remedies, I found out about ACV which unfortunately I didn't had at my home as I gave a new bottle of ACV to someone else.

Unable to bear the UTI increasing tremendously I decided to try with RED WINE VINEGAR. I boiled water for a foot bath, poured in a bucket, I put 2 TSP RED WINE VINEGAR, Borax 1/8th of teaspoon and 2 Teaspoon Magnesium chloride (I know it sounds crazy). As the water was too hot, I sat on the bucket exposing my groin area. I took the steam for 5 minutes or so and drank a glass of 1 Teaspoon RED WINE VINEGAR mixed with 1/8th teaspoon Baking soda. Immediately I got the relief and sat peacefully taking the footbath. Before going to bed I put on coconut oil on my vagina to get some relief. And viola...today morning I don't have any UTI issues at all. However today and tomorrow I will drink the solution for complete recovery

Lemon, Cornsilk, Oregano Oil

Once again, I got a UTI. I'm older and seem to be getting them more frequently. This time after I had an illness (was told by a cupping practitioner I'd had COVID) and I had had diarrhea for a couple of weeks. This gave me the UTI, even though I clean always with water and soap after using the bathroom and am careful to not do the things I should not. I got it anyway.

I'd gotten other utis in the past couple of years and never want to go on antibiotics but I could never get rid of them on my own. Cranberry never worked for me, I tried D-Mannose without success.

Then I read two solutions that worked for others that also worked for me. I'll post this under each solution.

The first is lemon water. One person said cranberry never worked for them (me neither) but lemon did. Hot lemon water 2x a day. It was so much reduced at the end of the day, I was so surprised! I did it for two more days but I still felt twingey.

I had a doctor's appointment the next week, and I thought I'd have to go on antibiotics because even though lemon helped tremendously and immediately, I could still feel it.

So I came back here and started going through every cure. One woman posted about oil of oregano and cornsilk tea, and that she'd had a bad bout of diarrhea and got the UTI right after that, like me. It helped her so that she did not need antibiotics.

I have both cornsilk tea in the house and oil of oregano and made it right away. This was the solution that kicked the final bit of it out of my system. I had to do it for several days. By the time the doctor appointment came days later, I didn't need to say anything to them about it. I felt a little twinge about three days after I stopped taking it. I took two more cups on two more days.

This is the first time ever I have not had to go on antibiotics for a UTI. I hope this helps someone else.

Also the practitioner I saw said if you have diarrhea and UTI, after using the bathroom, first rinse the area with water, then wash with soap and water. Then mix a teaspoon to a tablespoon in a small container of warm water (like a handheld bucket, mine is maybe four cups max). Use that to cleanse the area well. Don't do it frequently because you don't want to kill the good bacteria in the area, but this can be done as a cleanse on a short term 3days or so basis to keep the area clean to help heal. It helped me feel better right away. It doesn't heal the UTI, but does a great job of sanitizing the area for you.

  • Thank God for this website. May our Creator bless and heal everyone who comes to this site looking for cures, to those who post their solutions and give all of us hope, and blessings to the developer and people who work on this site.

Colloidal Silver, Oregano Oil
Posted by Art (California ) on 06/04/2022 2932 posts

Dena L. ,

I am curious as to what dose of colloidal silver you used ?

The Oxysilver bottle does not clearly say what strength their silver is. They show that their bottle contains 8 ounces and it says a serving size is one teaspoon and then it says that there are 48 servings in the bottle and each serving is 5ml.

https://www.amazon.com/OXYSILVER-IMMUNE-SUPPORT-HYDROSOL-CONCENTRATE/dp/B009PG1FBI/ref=sr_1_5?crid=QYNLJPQ9RL1B&keywords=oxysilver&qid=1654399344&sprefix=oxysilver,aps,217&sr=8-5

The only indication of what strength their silver is in this sentence on the bottle :

* Daily value not established 3ppm

If this 3ppm is the actual strength of the silver in the bottle, it is very very low. They charge $39.95 for this 8 ounce bottle making it very expensive considering how little silver is actually in the bottle. By comparison, MesoSilver sells an 8.45 ounce bottle of their 20 ppm colloidal silver for $32.97 and their bottle contains over 6 times the silver in it as Oxysilver.

For another comparison, EC sells an 8 ounce bottle of colloidal silver for $29.95 that is 20 ppm of silver. This also has over 6 times the silver in it or to say that a little differently it is roughly equivalent to more than 6 bottles of Oxysilver if you were to dilute it with distilled water to equal 3 ppm.

Not all colloidal silvers are the same and some are very expensive for the amount of actual silver in their product.

D-Mannose
Posted by Sam (Miami ) on 03/29/2023

Every woman should have in her medicine cabinet: Urolesan #1 remedy in Europe, it works fast, D-Mannose #2, authentic essential oils#3: thyme or oregano ( never from Amazon)-a trace of the oil in an empty capsule, swallow (1drop is too much). I guarantee your UTI will be gone in 3 days if you only take Urolesan, but take all 3 remedies if you worry. 8-10 drops of Urolesan on a cube of sugar or bread-in your mouth, swallow in few minutes.

Multiple Remedies

I began having bladder infection symptoms last month and immediately started using the baking soda and water remedy. It really helped with the intense pain, so I drank alot of it along with Apple Cider Vinegar and water, pure cranberry juice and a no sugar diet. Despite my efforts it just got worse and worse and after a week of this I was seeing blood in my urine and suffering from chills. I had to visit the er. Five hours later I found it had spread and was diagnosed with a KIDNEY infection. My heart rate was also very high and potassium low. I took antibiotics for a week and am now thankfully healed! And making sure to consume plenty of pre and probiotics. Please don't suffer as long as I did or overuse even natural remedies. Learned a very valuable lesson.

Apple cider vinegar/baking soda saves the day.

This did the trick!! I'm so amazed.

I woke up to burning and only able to produce a few drops--but the urgency was high. Sigh. Tried the apple cider vinegar and baking soda, plus about 30 minutes...no more burning and open the flood gates I'm making water again!! Took some again later and will continue for a few days. I added in some cranberry juice in my daily diet just in case, and have increased my water intake as well for a proper flushing of my pipes. So far so good.-- Thanks Earth Clinic... you continue to be my first " go to" for advice.

Alkaline Water

Hello, I had a very uncomfortable Urinary Tract infection a week ago and I bought the product one finds at the pharmacy (AZO tabs.) which usually works for me. I took the full dosage and this time the AZO pills didn't work?

I had to go to the doctor and I was given one pill for Fungal infection until they could test my urine to find the real culprit and as usual I could not get results until Monday as everyone is closed for the weekend. The Fungal pill seemed to work, but the next day the Infection and pain was back again! So I read that some women are helped with UTI by drinking alkaline water so my husband and I drove into town and bought 2 gallons of alkaline water to see if it would work AND IT SURE DID! Alkaline water (I drank quit a bit) relieved me of all the pain! The pain came back after one day and a half for about half an hour and then it went away again after I drank more Alkaline water! What was weird was that even though the pain was gone I had some slight discomfort in my lower tract and lower back area. I continued drinking the Alkaline water. Then about three times when I went to urinate my flow of urine was hot? I never experienced hot pee? After the hot pee episode every symptom of the UTI problem was gone! Including the pain in the lower back and lower stomach area! I feel back to normal and will not have to go back to the doctor if this continues. Also for seniors a retired nurse told me that UTI can be dangerous for Seniors and is the second cause of death for seniors. The infection can go to the kidneys and cause Septic! Very dangerous!

So take this infection seriously! Especially if you are a Senior!

D-Mannose

I have suffered several UTIs. For me, D-Mannose did end up clearing up the UTI but at a price...I had horrible abdominal pains because of the gas buildups. I guess this is sort of a freak reaction that happens to some people, because my friend took it (as do many others based off of reading the reviews), and they don't seem to have this issue. I took the recommended dosage on the bottles. I got two different brands just to make sure one brand wasn't bad, but had the same reaction with both.

I have since switched to colloidal silver for treatment for UTIs and it works wonderfully, and is faster and more effective than all other treatments I have used. Also, as a sidenote, I have gone over 7 months without a UTI since I started to change my diet. Generally, I eat little to no meat or dairy, and lots of veggies, fruits, and whole grains. Though meat for me seems to be more of a culprit than dairy. If I eat meat more than 3 days in a row, I tend to get a UTI. It's crazy.

Hi, D-Mannose powder is wonderful for recurring bladder infections. I have almost always had my urine screenings to come back from the lab with low grade infection but don't take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. I began searching online for help with bladder infections and found that others had great results with D-Mannose. It seems that bacteria attach themselves to the bladder lining and D-Mannose creates a "slickness" to that lining which creates conditions in which the bacteria detach and you rid yourself of the bacteria via urination. Whatever the process, IT WORKS. I used D-Mannose once per day just before retiring to sleep for 10 days. I keep D-Mannose in my medicine cabinet but have not had to use it for more than six months now. WONDERFUL!! I hope this works for you.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda

After experiencing sleepless nights owing to UTI urgent bathroom visits even after days of antibios - found baking soda in water and organic apple cider vinegar in water suggestions. First I tried them separately because couldn't imagine them together. Two tbls. ACV in 8 oz water. One tsp. baking soda in 8 oz water. Each 2x a day. Bladder cramping stopped after a few hours after waking and each subsequent slept longer without bathroom visits. Finally, tried 1/2tsp. baking soda in 2 tbls. ACV(organic) in 8 oz. water and was delighted to find it was not salty or vinegary but like an unsweetened mildly carbonated soda. I was planning on using Stevia if necessary but it wasn't needed at all.

I don't know about arthritis, constipation, or blood pressure but the UTI is under control. I was literally losing my mind from lack of sleep and discomfort even with 10 days of antibios. It was the BS and ACV in water 2-3x a day that made the difference. First, separately and now together. I intend to continue this as part of my diet forever.

Amazing! Thanks.

Clove Oil

I just took 2 drops of clove oil in a glass of water for a bladder infection and I feel 50% better in just a couple of hours. Was in terrible pain. I also took some cranberry extract pills with it. But I think it was the clove oil that worked because the cranberry didn't work prior to adding the clove oil. I also inserted a fem-dophilus pill into the vaginal area because a scientist I worked with said that if I want something to get into the bloodstream fast put it on the vaginal lip area. This didn't take away my infection until I added the clove oil. I have found that clove oil is the best thing for bacteria infections, I have injected it into my gums for a gum infection I could not get rid of for years after 2 unsuccessful surgeries. It works better then any other natural antibiotic I have tried.

Corn Silk

Hi Jean, I know this is way too late to your question. I have been taking cornsilk in the capsule form by the brand Nature's Way and it has work so much better for treating my UTI than just the other things that's mentioned here. I take 3 capsules with water, and follow by 2 cups of water depending how bad my symptom is and I also do the organic applecider vinegar. I do this 3-4 times a day until my symptom clears up usually within 3-4 days, then I continue taking 3 capsule for 2 times a day for another 2 days to clear up the infection. The cornsilk doesn't upset my stomach. Hope this helps.

Vitamin C

I have a history of recurring uti's so when I felt one coming on 6 days ago, I came straight to Earthclinic. My symtpoms were urgency. Burning urethra and tenderness in the bladder, although I rarely have burning upon urination. I read all the yea's for the ACV and I know that most bacteria doesn't like the acidity, so I gave it a shot. This is what I took:

1) 2 tablespoons of ACV with the "mother" mixed in with some water. I would down this like a shot and then chase it with a glass of water. I did this every 3 hours or so during the day. I noticed immediate relief of the burning sensation and the urgency would improve.. Also, it's a diuretic so I could void easier.

2) 5,000 mg of Vitamin C a couple times a day. It's also good to take a dose right before bedtime to keep the urine acidic during the night. I crushed the tablets with a garlic press and put them in a glass with a pinch of baking soda. Mix a little water so it fizzes and drink it like a shot. Follow with a full glass of water. I had around 12,000-15,000 mg a day.

3) I also take oregano oil pills and turmeric on a daily basis, so I continued this as well. Although, honestly, I think the biggest help was taking the ACV and Vitamin C to change my pH.

I did this for 4 days. You have to listen to your body... If I felt like it was too much, I would skip a dose or two. Also, you have to drink water until your eyeballs are swimming, literally. Flush all that bad crap out!

I went and got a dipstick test yesterday and it was clean!!! My Dr. said to keep doing what I was doing (I had told her about the ACV and mega-dosing Vitamin C) She said they change the pH of the urine and the bacteria can't thrive in it.

I'm still taking vitamin C, around 5,000 a day for a few days, to make sure the infection is gone and starting back on my probiotics. I do feel lots better and hope this can help someone!!!

I had recurring bladder infections for years. After the last one -14 years ago--I began taking cranberry capsules as a PREVENTATIVE. I just take one in a.m. and one in the p.m. I take 3 if I'm going to have sex. You can also take d-mannose as a preventative. Urinating before and after sex is always good to do.

I tried your remedy of 1 tsp of this pink rock salt in water and it worked and then I forgot to post up my YEA until now! Thank You so much Earth Clinic- I was going to go to the Doctor the next morning because the pain was getting to bad to bear, and I don't do anti-biotics but last time I had a UTI I tried all the other remedies and they made it feel better for a few hours but just wouldn't make it go. Anyway after the salt I woke up and the pain was gone- there was still a funny feeling when I peed, but I knew it was getting better. As I knew that the salt had worked I took another tsp in water that morning as a precaution and to wipe it out- as anyone who has had a UTI knows- you will do anything to relieve the pain- but thank you this time it wasn't antibiotics!! I will use this remedy next time. It was magic- I no longer live in fear of a UTI!! Nicola

Hello and thank you so much for your post of Garden of Life Dr. Formulated Probiotics Urinary Tract+. I too had tried all of the other natural remedies recommended (ACV, Sea Salt, Cranberry juice, D-Mannose) and they gave relief to my symptoms but couldn't get rid of my UTI (urethra). Then, I discovered this post and ordered Garden of Life Dr. Formulated Probiotics Urinary Tract+. I tried just 2 a day and it didn't help, so I kicked it up to 4 per day (2 first thing in the morning, 1 late afternoon, and 1 before bed) for a week. Finally(! ), infection is gone. I will continue to take 1 per day for the next couple of weeks just as a precaution. Thanks again for posting!! Love this website and the people who contribute.

Your post is a few years old, but here are a few suggestions for current sufferers. I was also prone to UTIs after intimacy. My naturopath recommended eliminating immediately after, showering, D-Mannose and blow drying (yes, a little odd but dryness is important). My mom's friend always dried corn silk and made it into tea which resolved hers. When we renovated our home, my husband surpised me with a bidet. They're not very expensive at the big box hardware stores. I love it. It's not what Europeans use, which are the best, but it's better than having to take a shower. If you don't have electrical for a bidet to work, a handheld shower is second best.

Herbal Tea Blend Provides Instant Relief for Kidney, Bladder and Urinary Problems.

From the Book: Miracle Medicine Foods, p. 83-95. 1977 – Rex Adams

Mr. H.M. writes: Four weeks ago I developed un-imaginable pain in the urinary tract which was both frightening and embarrassing. After hours of indecision I visited an emergency clinic at a very fine New York hospital, and was prescribed a sulfa drug, and was shoved out the door. Total cost: $45. Four days later the pain was worse, and swelling had spread to the prostate gland and the testicles. I went to my own doctor who gave me the choice of staying on the drug or experimenting with other drugs. I chose the new prescription.... Total cost second visit: $25.

I tore up the prescription on the way home. By chance… my eyes ran across an old copy of (a book of herbal remedies)… including goldenseal, chaparral, lemon grass and Spanish eucalyptus. I purchased the teas and drank more than a quart an hour, rotating the varieties to avoid boredom.

I also used a little honey. Within six hours I could urinate without pain; in the morning all swelling was gone from each area. I continued for three days as a safeguard… If this can help someone in pain, I will be very happy. Total cost of teas: $6—and only a small amount of the packages were used.

Baking Soda

My sister had a bladder infection for a while with pain and constant going to the toilet. She avoids going to see her doctor if she can help it and certainly hates using antibiotics. However, her condition worsened to the extent that she couldn't function properly, forcing her to see her local GP - she lives in the UK. It happened that another doctor was covering her GP, who had worked in Africa for a number of years and where doctors rarely have access to antibiotics. Often they have to rely on natural remedies. He advised my sister to take half a glass of soda water and half a glass of unpasteurised milk, mixed together. The mixture should be consumed first thing in the morning and then 2-3 times during the day. My sister's problem disappeared within 24 hours. Best of luck. God Bless.
