Lemon and D-Mannose

I have been getting cystitis on average twice a year for over 25 years.. I used to just get antibiotics and drink cranberry juice but they don't work for me anymore so I started trying natural remedies. After over a month of battling with limited success, I tried this:

First I drank a half pint size glass of warm water with the juice of half a lemon squeezed into it.

Then 10 mins later I took a heaped teaspoon of D-Mannose (extract of cranberries).

Within half an hour I could tell it was working, now the infection was a bad one so I had to do it again about an hour or so later. Then again 4 hours later. Then once more the morning after. In the days after that, if I ever felt it threatening, I just drank the lemon water and that was enough to stop it.

It's worth noting that I had been taking D-Mannose prior to trying it in combination with lemon with very limited success.

For anyone suffering from Urinary Tract Indections...

1st, they are caused from bacteria getting up into the urethra( the pee pee tube). When you have sex, always pee before and after because during sex, the bacteria get pushed up there.when you pee after, it pushes out the bacteria. A natural sugar found in Cranberries is called D-Mannose powder. Available at all health food stores.

If you have a UTI, take1 teaspoon every few hours for a day. Within 30-45 minutes of the first dose, the pain and fevers will be gone, and the burning. It is a miracle supplement! . It works by making the urethra walls slippery and so the bacteria can't hold on. It's so much easier and healthier than antibiotics. I take it an hour before I know I'm going to have sex with my boyfriend. Works to keep you free of urinary tract infections. Just look it up on the Internet to learn more about it. I like the powder better than the pills. The powder works faster!

Coconut Milk

What a wonderful website! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Earth clinic.

I have suffered from severe uti's for years. Unfortunately, I'm one of the people who is asymptomatic until the infection is quite severe. It begins with urgency and discomfort while urinating and progresses within a couple of hours to bright red urine and extreme pain. This has caused several emergency room visits over the years and a lot of antibiotics. I have tried cranberry juice, the supplements and cranberry extract, however, none of these worked for me.

Last night when I, once again, woke up with symptoms, I was already calculating if I could hold out the six hours until my doctor's office opened in the morning. Because I was unable to sleep at all(visiting the bathroom every 10 mins), I began to peruse the web and came across this site where I read about others who had cured severe uti's with coconut oil and coconut milk. Desperate to avoid another emergency room visit, I went to the 24-hour supermarket. They didn't have coconut oil, but they did have coconut milk. I bought the full fat one thinking there would be more oil in that. At home I added ice and chugged one can down around 2am. Within an hour I began to feel the symptoms letting up. I fell asleep and when I woke up at 8am the symptoms were all but gone. I drank another can today and lots of fluids, but I am feeling fine: no fever, no pain, no urgency, nothing! I will probably continue to drink the coconut milk for a couple more days to make sure it doesn't come back.

I am truly amazed. It feels like a miracle.

Methylene Blue

Had a bad bladder/UTI infection. Pain in the lower abdomen, mild fever and sweating. Tried oil of oregano and black seed oil for about two weeks; no change. Finally checked through my health database and found an article by Dr. Joseph Mercola. Excerpt below:

“Methylene blue has also been shown to have several other health benefits, such as:

Reduces the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) — I consider this one of the most significant uses of methylene blue, as it offers a powerful, gut-friendly alternative to antibiotics for treating UTIs. This is especially beneficial for the elderly, who often have compromised gut health.

Since methylene blue isn't metabolized by your body, it gets excreted by the kidneys into your bladder, where it accumulates and eventually reaches concentrations high enough to act as a strong oxidant, effectively targeting and eliminating pathogens in the bladder.”

Started with 10 drops of 1% liquid (5 mg) in a few ounces of water twice a day (tasted terrible). After the first day, all symptoms were done. Continued this dosage for 4 or 5 days to insure that the infection was gone.

Side effect, my chronic tinnitus was dramatically reduced.

Will continue taking at reduced dosage for the tinnitus and as a preventative for infections indefinitely.

Once again, I got a UTI. I'm older and seem to be getting them more frequently. This time after I had an illness (was told by a cupping practitioner I'd had COVID) and I had had diarrhea for a couple of weeks. This gave me the UTI, even though I clean always with water and soap after using the bathroom and am careful to not do the things I should not. I got it anyway.

I'd gotten other utis in the past couple of years and never want to go on antibiotics but I could never get rid of them on my own. Cranberry never worked for me, I tried D-Mannose without success.

Then I read two solutions that worked for others that also worked for me. I'll post this under each solution.

The first is lemon water. One person said cranberry never worked for them (me neither) but lemon did. Hot lemon water 2x a day. It was so much reduced at the end of the day, I was so surprised! I did it for two more days but I still felt twingey.

I had a doctor's appointment the next week, and I thought I'd have to go on antibiotics because even though lemon helped tremendously and immediately, I could still feel it.

So I came back here and started going through every cure. One woman posted about oil of oregano and cornsilk tea, and that she'd had a bad bout of diarrhea and got the UTI right after that, like me. It helped her so that she did not need antibiotics.

I have both cornsilk tea in the house and oil of oregano and made it right away. This was the solution that kicked the final bit of it out of my system. I had to do it for several days. By the time the doctor appointment came days later, I didn't need to say anything to them about it. I felt a little twinge about three days after I stopped taking it. I took two more cups on two more days.

This is the first time ever I have not had to go on antibiotics for a UTI. I hope this helps someone else.

Also the practitioner I saw said if you have diarrhea and UTI, after using the bathroom, first rinse the area with water, then wash with soap and water. Then mix a teaspoon to a tablespoon in a small container of warm water (like a handheld bucket, mine is maybe four cups max). Use that to cleanse the area well. Don't do it frequently because you don't want to kill the good bacteria in the area, but this can be done as a cleanse on a short term 3days or so basis to keep the area clean to help heal. It helped me feel better right away. It doesn't heal the UTI, but does a great job of sanitizing the area for you.

Thank God for this website. May our Creator bless and heal everyone who comes to this site looking for cures, to those who post their solutions and give all of us hope, and blessings to the developer and people who work on this site.

D-Mannose
Posted by Wendy (Dublin, OH) on 03/26/2023

What I'll add is the following: With any UTI, make sure you request the doctor (your regular doctor, Urgent Care, etc.) send your urine sample to the lab to do a CULTURE. This is how they determine exactly what kind of urinary tract infection you have, whether it's e-coli or, what I have had, klebsiella pneumoniae, thus what kind of antibiotic to prescribe.

I'll share my story: back in 2018, I had been getting monthly UTIs. Docs put me on 3 different antibiotics over those past months, including Cipro (which definitely messed up my hamstring!). However, after each 10-day course, I'd get another infection 4 days later! Turns out I had the klebsiella pneumoniae super-bug (lab count was greater than 100,000!), which is NOT killed off by the antibiotics (including Cipro, even though this is the go-to antibiotic for klebsiella pneumoniae!), thus causing and allowing (IMHO) the UTIs to recur. I then did my research, and discovered Oil of Oregano, which is purported to kill off the super-bug. (Additional info at this EC link: https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/chronic-bladder-infection-remedies.html?toc=Oregano+Oil&ratingvalue=5&sortby=latest).

I could not go to sleep because of burning feeling and urge to pee. At 2 in the morning I took 1/4 tsp baking soda and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. Felt some relief within 10 minutes. Went to sleep and it was gone when I woke up. I have been fine since that was 3 days ago. Amazing

D-Mannose and Turmeric

I had UTI 2 weeks ago and it was really bad. I usually go for antibiotics in these cases but have found out that antibiotics caused imbalance in my good & bad bacteria. I also have candida overgrowth, hence didn't want to further reduce my good bacteria.

Anyway, from reviews I tried the natural remedy, D-mannose. I took 1 tsp every hour, and drank a lot of water. I took so much water I was literally peeing every minute. After a while, the burning sensation will subside, and if you continue taking 1 tsp D-mannose every hour, it will be almost gone! D-mannose is amazing for UTI! However note that I probably was overdosing on D-mannose (out of desperation, really..), and I felt throbbing in my kidneys.. Must mean I was overworking my kidneys then, so I advise anyone to be careful on copying my dosage.

My UTI was gone in over just a day by dosing d-mannose 1 tsp/hour. However, the next day, it would come back! So I dose with d-mannose again, stop when the burning sensation subsides (also because at that point my kidney(s) would be throbbing), substitute only water (and a lot of it), but the next day it would again come back! Cycle continues 2-3 times until I figure I should take something to stop UTI from coming back.

So I substitute/mix my water with Turmeric, a natural antibiotic. I also took a lot of vitamin C. After drinking a lot of turmeric tea, and continuing to drink turmeric 2-3 days after UTI is gone from d-mannose, it never came back again! I'm so happy to have solved my UTI naturally.

Get rid of UTI: D-mannose, 1 tsp every hour. Reduce dosage to 1 tsp every 2 hours when burning sensation subsides, then further reduce to 1tsp every 3 hours, and so on..

Stop UTI from recurring (must step!! ): Take a natural antibiotic. I hear oil of oregano is effective too, but I didn't have that at the time so I used fresh/raw turmeric boiled in water to make tea instead.. Drink turmeric tea, or turmeric tea diluted in water (a lot of it...) 2-3 days even after UTI is gone.. This is crucial!

Happy healing!

I was in a car accident when I was young which left me wheelchair bound. This accident seems to have a negative effect on my bladder and I am prone to UTIs. I have tried many things but Dmannose seems to help the best. I have now moved on to d Mannose that have Cranberry and Hibiscus. They taste better so that's a big improvement but I feel that little bit more healthier.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda

Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda cleared my UTI infection. I had two urine tests done before I started taking it and it showed that I had a UTI. Went here on earth clinic to search up remedies and started taking two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed with 1/4 baking soda in a full glass of water. I did this 2 times a day after meals... I wanted to do it 3 times but I didnt want to drink after 6 pm (because I would be urinating all night). I did this remedy for 4 days. I went to another doctor to take a urine test and they called me to tell me that my test came back negative! Which means my urine was normal! Oh my god, I was so happy!! So it really does work! I'll keep you updated because I still had an appointment so see a Urologist so i'm going to double check one more time with him which is good. So please, try this remedy - it is AMAZING. Thank you earth clinic!

CURED... I was getting UTIs all the time until about 5 years ago. then I discovered the baking soda remedy. I'm sure the alkaline diet is a much healthier way to go but I needed an instant remedy and haven't had a UTI in 5 years. All I did was take a few pinches of baking soda (Very Alkalizing!!! ) with a glass of water every 2 hours for the first day or two (not while I slept of course), then when the pain went away I took a few pinches with water as I felt any tiny bit of pain. Baking soda made me retain water while I was taking it and I would be careful if I had high blood pressure. Those are the only issues I know of so I'm a huge supporter!! I was so tired of antibiotics!!!

Acidophilus

Sharon: For the above poster to report such extensive natural remedies and still suffer UTI, there is yet underlying issues. This means a Gallbladder Cleanse and a Colon Cleanse is necessary or the infection continues. Once you do the cleanses and do the other natural antibiotic herbs listed above, then you can begin Probiotics in moderate doses for prevention. But before buying Probiotics, start replenishing with Kefir. You can make Kefir yourself or purchase from grocer or health food stores that stock it. WalMart has Kefir, some with added natural or otherwise fruit flavor as well as sugar, and some without.

As for capsules of Probiotics you want as many strains as possible but with an abundance of Acidophilus & Bifidus. 1-4 Billion units total is good maintenance but up to 40 billion for disease treatment. Also be sure to get a product with Preprobiotics like FOS which helps your gut manufacture Probiotics itself. As for brands it's up to you but start with something affordable and go from there.

With regards to bladders. Dont forget they need zinc, far more than any other area of the body, that includes the reproductive system as well.. You can take all the herbal wonders in the world but if the essential elements are not in the body, they will just be builders waiting for the cement to arrive.

Frankincense

UTI occurence is very periodic for me, I get it almost every month just before my period and sometimes, just because I ate something sweet. I've read about the coconut oil and ACV and am waiting for it to be delivered when I suffered from another attack.

As you know your mind gets fogged, you are in a constant dull pain, and you SIMPLY CANNOT GET TO SLEEP. There was certainly some despair.

I popped a garlic pill, vitamin C, drank water..... Nothing.

In desperation, I recalled watching the TV with this really old man talking about steaming a mixture of myrh, frankincense and some other ingredient that I can't remember, to subside inflammation.

Since I was travelling and have about 4 oils with me, I decided to go with my frankincense.

I dropped 2 drops onto a panty liner and wore it to bed.

Thankfully I fell asleep quickly and when I woke up in the morning, the pain that I usually experience EVERY MORNING when I visit the toilet, IS GONE.

I am in awe. For days my mornings had been associated with visits to the toilet and weird smelling pee. I cannot describe how troubling it had been and am truly happy I found some sort of a remedy.

TRY IT.

WARNING!

I have suffered from recurring UTI's and kidney infections my whole life. I do all the right things, but my anatomy lends itself to frequent infections. I have been prescribed C***o in the past, a very harsh antibiotic that's given to anthrax patients, many times and was just fed up with having to take so many expensive pills. I got a UTI two weeks ago and decided to try some of the cures on this site. I will admit, Alka Seltzer (taken as directed) almost immediately got rid of my urinary pain. However, 3 days later I was in the emergency room with severe lower back pain, fever, and fatigue. The UTI had traveled to my kidneys. I was "forced" to get a shot of an antibiotic and take a round of antibiotics to get rid of the infection. I am currently doing a detox to remove the toxins from my system, but I just wanted people to know that the Alka Seltzer may make it easier to urinate, but it will not cure the infection.

I have four children, 2, 4, 6, 8:):) am very blessed to have my little ones. I am blessed to be in Christ Church " CHURCH OF CHRIST" were I have honestly found all wisdom. Saying that through having years of poor eating habits, much SUGAR, and not enough wTer and veggies. It's no wonder my time has come after my childrens birth Tht my defenses got worse. So through Gods mercy and wisdom. Tried something and it truly relieves, maybe it could help. Try cran apple juice no added sugars, and aloe juice. I found tht as my system got worse too much acidity made it worse. So the aloe juice may create a balance of acidity to the cran juice. Hope it helps. And thanks to God for all the things He has put on this earth for his creation.

Who would have thought sugar would be be the cure for my constant UTI's? D-Mannose has made my life so much better. Every 2-3 months a UTI would flare up. It has gotten to the point where I can feel it start and know immediately what it is. I would go to the doctor to tell them. Hey! I don't need the lab tests. I know my body. They would roll their eyes. They need do the lab test anyway. The tech would call... Surprise! You do have a UTI.

After a while, the drugs and doctors visits were overwhelming. I found out of D-mannose on this site. It is a wonder! Now when I feel a UTI coming on, I take a couple doses of D-Mannose for a day or two and it is gone. I has changed my life for the better.

Oregano Oil

I knew about taking cranberry juice for UTIs as I've had one or two in the past which is why I try to take the AZO cranberry pills & yeast pills daily (along with eating yogurt daily). I was surprised when I got this latest UTI a few days ago. Since I no longer have health insurance, I was freaked & I knew that the OTC urinary pain medicine was just a temp fix (which I gladly used b/c my UTIs come with PAIN!) Sure enough the OTC pills and the extra AZO cran pills began to have no effect yesterday even though I was constantly poppin em. I read through the site about oil of oregano (which I never heard of), vitamin C & others & decided to load up. I got the sea salt, oil of oregano, unsweetened cran juice, etc. I put 2 Tblsps of Sea Salt in a cup of H2O and tried to drink it (GAWD!) Well I drank maybe a little less than half the cup.... maybe. Maybe I put in too much salt, but DAMN! I took 1000mgs of Vitamin C. I put a drop of oil of oregano under my tongue (not good) & put another drop in a cup of H2O (this I could somewhat tolerate). I also sipped on a cup of the unsweetened cran juice (ick!). Anyway about an hour later it became less painful to pee & today I have no pain when I PEEEE & NO frequency. I have no idea which remedy did it & how long I need to keep taking these concoctions. I also took some probiotic pill the woman at the whole foods store put in my basket (she claimed the pill has millions of the good bacteria I need & way more than yogurt). Anyway I will be taking this pill in the AM & PM. I think the little bit of sea salt H2O I took had an effect although I won't be doing that again unless absolutely necessary & I believe the oil of oregano did something too. I will continue the oil of oregano, the vitamin C &, the probiotic pill for 6 more days & then maybe just continue the probiotic pill in place of the AZO cran & yeast pills I used to take. I know the feedback on this site really helped me. It seems these UTIs are such a Catch-22. They say that holding your pee in (or resisting the urge) can possibly bring them on but when I know its gonna be painful to go then I'd rather hold it than feel that pain. Maybe its just me.... Well, anyway hope this helps someone.

Hibiscus Tea

Hibiscus Tea Prevents UTIs Flavonoids in hibiscus tea possess antibacterial activity. Gossypetin prevents bacterial biofilms that cause UTIs. I few years ago I developed recurring cystitis to the point that my GP wrote me a prescription for a course of antibiotics. Antibiotics are the worst option because they destroy both good and bad bacteria. Once antibiotics are stopped an infection can often resume with a vengeance. I tried D-mannose first, which worked OK for a while and then I tried hibiscus tea. Hibiscus tea was a complete game changer. Within two days my UTI had completely cleared. One cup of hibiscus tea taken every night with my evening meal is enough to keep UTIs at bay. I have never suffered a UTI since. I always try to make sure that my kitchen cupboards are stocked with enough hibiscus tea.
