I recently started up a new relationship and at the same time started getting bladder infections, one after another. I finally figured out that the bladder infections were being caused by the spermicide in the contraceptive film I was using! At the same time, sex was becoming very painful. I think the chemicals in the spermicide was causing the vaginal walls to become sensitive -- raw feeling. As soon as I switched to condoms (without spermicide), no more bladder infections and no more vaginal pain. I bet spermicides may be one of the leading causes of bladder infections and women attribute them to something entirely different (like rough sex)..
