[YEA]  07/24/2011: Carmen from Fair Oaks, Ca writes: "I am typing while drinking. I am Soooo desperate for this to work. I told my friends, that could hardly understand me as I sound so pathetic, I feel like one of those cartoon characters where they are runing around screaming and the head explodes! My eyes hurt so bad I just wanted to cry all night (pause, sip) On antibiotics and mucinix and saline and vicodine so far the best I got was an occasional feeling of maybe air, but mouth breathing is my only surviaval... Sip.... Ok OMG left side just opened! Although right is my worst side. My recipe is actually very yummy and I HATE ACV I put 2 tbs ACV 1 heaping tbs honey and a decent splash of lemon juice in a coffe cup and heated in m/w. sip again!! I am not kidding, this email has taken about 5 mins and I feel relief! Pain in right eye still severe, but definitely a big difference. Put it this way, I am in sales and I could not talk on phone as it was disgusting, I would pick up phone now. Try it. Lemon truly made a huge difference and it actually tastes good!!!"

[YEA]  07/29/2011: Dln from Forty Fort, Pa replies: "I have been suffering from a severe sinus infection for about 3 weeks, the most painful I have ever had. The sinus infection grew out of an infected gumline and tooth, which I did not know was infected until the dentist told me so. The tooth infection was around the root, 4th tooth from the back on the upper right jaw. Well, the dentist put me on clindmyacin and vicodin extra strength. The clindamyacin did absolutely nothing to the infection, waste of time taking the pills. Oh, the dentist also sent me to a dental specialist, who was able to determine the location of the infection and the fact that it had gotten into the tooth nerve, so I had a root canal done on the tooth two days ago, I was nervous abou the root canal, but the dentist was a miracle worker - not pain during the procedure and no tooth pain since.

The sinus infection is still raging though. The 2nd dentist put me on a Z Pak for the infection, not sure if it is working or not, as I am still getting the extreme pressure and pain in the right side sinus.

Tonight, my wife bought me a neti pot and I used it as soon as she got home, I was in the midst of a really bad episode of pain and pressure. Well, the neti pot reduced the pressure and pain - from 10 to a 6. So I loaded up on some sudafed and benadryl, too a vicodin too. Then the pain and pressure started coming back so I jumped online looking for a natural home remedy since the OTC crap was not working.

Just happened to find this site and I read the first 4 pages of "Cure a sinus infection" So, what the hell, since I was in enough pain to wish that Mr Death would come and knock on the front door, I decided to try the ACV remedy. I did the modified version - 2 tbsp of ACV, 1 tbsp of lemon juice and 1 tbsp of wild flower honey - mixed them up in a coffee cup and drank it down in 3 gulps - not too bad tasting at all. It was like a miracle, 4 minutes later the pressure started to go down and the pain right along with it. In 15 minutes I would say the sinus inflamation had been reduced by 50 percent and I could breath thru my right nostril. So, just so you know, I am one of those people that has any patience and if one cup of the ACV mixture did this well, a 2nd cup of the same mixture couldn't hurt - LOL So 25 minutes after the first cup went down I drank the 2nd.... 10 minutes later I was feeling a bunch of pain again, but this was different than the sinus pressure, like an opposite pain... It was the pain of my sinus's - both sides of my head, and all the sinus cavities at the same time.... They were shrinking.... Too quickly... And it hurt like hell..... Well 10 more minutes and the pain and pressure are both gone and I am breating freely. So, if you read this and are going to try the ACV mixture I listed above.... Take my advice, do not drink 2 doses within 30 minutes of each other... It works great but it hurts!!!!

Just a couple of other items about my sinus infection. I have had very similar episode 6 times before, with uncommon symptoms: no nasal discharge - none; no drainage into my throat when sleeping; hours upon hours of no pain or pressure at all - completely normal feeling, then all of a sudden the pain and pressure come on like a freight train going 100 mph. The pain brings tears and crying - I am a 41 yr old man with a very high threshold for pain, but this is an evil kind of pain - and the pressure is unbelievable - feels like the right side of my head is going to actually burst open and my right eyeball feels like it is being pushed out of its socket!!!!

Since a lot of folks on this site seem to know more about sinus infections than I do, I have a couple questions to ask.

1) Is it common for a sinus infection to stay on only one side of the head?

2) Is it common to not have any nasal discharge at all?

3) What causes the sinus pressure and pain to be absent for up to 14 hrs and then all of a sudden flare up with a vengence?

Well, that is enough for now. I would like to thank everyone for sharing their experiences as I have already benefitted greatly with the ACV remedy!!! For those that will read this posting, try the ACV remedy.... It worked extremely quickly for me!!! "

07/30/2011: Diane from Margaret River, Wa, Australia replies: "Try using Hair Combs or as I do, use Hair Comb Slides. With teeth from combs slighty pressed on fingertips [pressure points] keep this up for 15 minutes a day for 2 Months and you will have no more Sinus problems. But I still continue with this at least twice a week to make sure it never returns."
08/01/2011: Carlos from Winnetka, Ca replies: "I have been suffering a chronic sinusitis for about 5 months does this ACV actually work to cure it n be relieved?"
[YEA]  08/06/2011: Mitch from Dover, Ma replies: "I found this thread after 2 weeks of an on again off again cold that eventually became a sinus infection. I have used the neti pot with salt water in the past with good results especially if I catch it early, but this time the sinus infection seemed to hang on longer. I drank apple cider vinegar with honey and hot water yesterday and like others wrote the stuffiness seemed to clear in about 15 minutes. It did come back somewhat later in the day and I had another round of the drink. The next day (today), my symptoms are barely there. AMAZING! I am definitely a believer and am very happy not to go the antibiotics route - which has worked but then my GI tract gets messed up for weeks. ACV!! Thanks for this website!"
[WORKED TEMPORARILY]  08/16/2011: Dln from Forty Fort, Pa replies: "Thought I would drop by and give an update on my situation. Well, the ACV stopped working after 5 days, no effect whatsoever any more. Maybe the body builds a tolerance, or the infection does, but whatever happened, it does nothing now.

So I gave in and went to the ENT, same Doctor I saw 10 years ago for the same thing. He remembered me right away. After talking for a few minutes, he brought the super spray - in a little glass bottle attached to a air pump - whatever that stuff is, it is absolutely amazing - 1 spray and the sinus immediately starts to open, wait for a minute or so, 2nd spray and all 4 sinuses are about 50% or 60% open, wait another minute and 3rd spray - all 4 sinuses are now 100% open, pressure is completely gone. The ENT was very surprised that there was no drainage of any kind. He had me snort and spit a number of times, but nothing out of the ordinary, just plain spit - so he gave me a 4th spray on the right side a single spray on the left side - waited about 30 seconds - more snorting and spitting - still no discharge. He was kind of stumped at this point. All symptoms point to an infection in the right side sinuses only. He check my right ear, checked my throat - no problems found. He then looked up my nose and other than the right sinus being overly red - from a month of netipot, nasal sprays, saline irrigation sprays - he saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Well, he scratched his head a couple times and remembered one other case like me about 15 years ago. He said all the symptoms lead to a sinus infection but he could never get a sample of the infection in spit or nasal mucus. He kept put that patient on predisone and antibiotics - took a couple rounds, but eventually it worked.

So, he put me on Avelox, predisone and more vicadins. He also recommened the Ocean nasal spary in the can. So I started the regimine of pills - finished them off this past Friday - in the 10 days I had 4 very good days - no pain or pressure, but last Thursday I had a horrible night, pain and pressure for 15 hrs straight - and then Friday afternoon, everything opened up, pain and pressure went away and I thought, prematurely, that it was all over for good. Sat morning was pretty good, then by 4 in the afternoon it was back with a vengence, but I was able to knocked it back with a few sudafed. Yesterday, Sunday, sucked bad - spent most of the day in bed and then it cleared up for a couple hours and then came back last night around 11 pm. Took a couple hrs to get it to subside - hot shower for 15 minutes, nasal spray, sudafed and allegra. This morning I could feel it, like a nagging throb, but it was fine until around 3 pm - then it hit again, hard, and it stayed painful until 6:30 pm and just went away. Came back a little about 9 pm, so I took 1 - 100mg GSE tablet, and a couple sudafed - seemed ok until about 30 minutes ago - so back to the neosynephryn - 3 sprays and everything is wide open for now. So hopefully the GSE will start to do something.

Have another visit with the ENT this Thursday - will get a CT scan this week as well, hopefully something will show up that will help the Doctor figure out what is going on.

The pain and pressure, reoccuring when it wants to, with no trigger that I can narrow down - not any specific food or food group, or smoking or lack of smoking, outside, inside, in the car, in a resturant, movie theater, grocery store - so I am basically at a loss, just like before.

This has become very depressing and is weighing very heavily on my emotional state. One minute I am perfectly fine - and the next I am feeling my skull is going to explode - the pressure is so bad that when I used the cayene nasal spray, the tears coming from my right eye actually tasted like cayene pepper - and my eye burned like hell until I washed it out.

Will update in a week or two, hopefully the next time will have a more positive update."

08/27/2011: Dln from Forty Fort, Pa replies: "This will probably be my last update as the sinus infection is on its last legs - finger crossedXXX.

I did start the ACV again, and once again it worked on a limited basis. It worked right away the first time I took it - same mixture I used before - 2 tbsp of ACV, 1 tbsp of lemon juice and 1 tbsp of wild flower honey. But the longer I used it the effectiveness wore off. I got about 4 days of usefullness out of it, then it did nothing to relieve the pressure any longer.

So I did some more research and had another visit to the ENT and think I have found a combination of vitamins, OTC and prescription drugs, and home remedies that seems to have finally led me to a viable solution to a dry sinus infection.

Here is the list of stuff I have used since my last update to get to the point of 90% cured.

1. Avelox antibiotic - not as harsh on the system as some antibiotics.

2. 500 mg of Vitamin C chewable tablet, 4 to 8 a day.

3. 400 mg of Acai berry extract a day

4. Predisone - to reduce inflamation and promote sinus drainage

5. 400 mg guaifenesin tablets - up to 2,400 mg a day - this was the missing part of all my previous attempts - the ENT agreed this can be very helpful in certain cases. It thins mucus, not only in the lungs, but all mucus and I was finally able to get drainage out of my sinus. I did not get any of the colored mucus as drainage, but I can feel the sinus drain into the back of my throat and the pressure just disappears within 15 to 20 minutes of taking the tablets. I chase the pills down with a softdrink containing caffein to speed the process along.

6. 1/8 tsp Sea salt - dissolved with saliva in your mouth, then swallowed and chased down with a 8 to 12 oz glass of water - do this a couple times a day, say morning, mid-day and evening. This sounds crazy, but it works wonders. Details and testimonials can be found at "Watercure2. Org". Some of the claims and testimonials do seem to stretch reality a little, but, I can honestly say this works, at least for me. No increase in bloodpressure, no serious side effects, unless you consider clear urine a bad thing - LOL I think this helps with the sinuses because it increases the volume of water/salt in the body, which increases the mucus, but thins it, along with the guaifenesin. It is like doing the neti pot on an internal level.

Like I said above, I am not 100%, still get a small flareup every other day or so, like tonight, but it is easily shut down by 400 mg tablet of guaifenesin and taking the 1/8 tsp of sea salt and the glass of water. Takes about 20 minutes and the pressure goes away, the sinuses and nasal passage feels soothed, probably from the increase in thin mucus, and air flow thru the nose is increased. If you lay down at the 30 minute mark, you will feel the drainage in your throat. It is not an excessive amount to cause gagging, but more of a dripping/leakage feeling as the mucus just kind of slides down your throat, but there is no irritation associated, and no sore throat the next day.

I really think it is the combination of sea salt and guaifensin that is making the difference. Any sinus infection needs to drain, and the thinner you can make the mucus the better off you will be. My ENT thought I might have a partially plugged sinus and was thinking surgery if it does not get better. Well, the hell with surgery. I don't care if the sinus drain hole is 1mm in size, I will thin the mucus until it gets out of the hole. I am not going to have surgery, period!!!

I am hoping that in another week I will be back at 100% and this will all just be a bad memory. I wish my fellow sinus sufferers the best of luck. What seems to be working for me may not work for you, but don't give up hope. Keep trying different and varied things, different combinations of remedies, you will eventually find something that works."

12/27/2011: Gail from Charlottetown, Pei, Canada replies: "I had persistent sinus infections for years, each episode getting a little worse until it got really bad. Started going to a naturopath for another problem (candida), and when I took grains and dairy out of my diet, sinus problems went away.

It is now 2 days post-Christmas... Over the period of the last month, eating some of my forbidden foods has once again presented me with a sinus infection. Am using ACV and oil of oregano... Seems to be working for all except the chills-- broke down and took a Tylenol a few minutes ago. Planning to have a detox bath later this evening (contains epsom salts, baking soda and ACV) just before bedtime and hope that it will give me a good night's sleep. The health food store where I purchased the oil of oregano also suggested probiotics two hours after taking and ACV or oil of oregano. Apparently the oil of oregano will kill the good bacteria as well as the bad."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  07/01/2011: Tec from Frederick, Md writes: "I came to this sight as I've had a sinus infection for three weeks now and 10 days of antibiotics didn't help (drat! ). Still sick and need to be well! I did the steam with ACV and it did work well for me and cleared my head. Today, I'm trying the ACV to drink. I made an 8 oz mug of tea, mixed 2 TBSP of ACV and a little honey (apple tea) - it really seemed to clear my head about five minutes after I drank it. It didn't clear it completely, but I could feel my pressure being relieved just a little. I'm going to keep trying this method and see if maybe it will work... so far so good."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  07/20/2011: Yogagirl from Texas, Dallas, United States replies: "Hi all! I have looked over the ACV thread many times in desperation during my NUMEROUS chronic sinus infections. I always have given in and ran to the drs thinking that all of this homeopathic stuff was for nutty people. Well, count me in the nutty pile now!!!! And so happy to be here! I finally said ENOUGH! When you've learned your lesson and gone to the Dr.time after time taking antibiotic after antibiotic, spray after spray, from Z-Pacs to the dreaded (for me anyway I'm allergic augmentin) and you get about three weeks if that of happiness and a faux feeling of being 'cured'-ahem-cough cough. Something is NOT right!

So, I went straight down to my local health food store and purchased a inexpensive bottle-lg. by the way of Organic ACV-which doesn't taste bad to me for some odd reason and picked up LOCAL honey to aid in preventing my allergies after educating myself on chronic sinusitis, Started using my neti pot daily and I am committed to taking measures into my own hands. If I have to rely on some OTC remedies occasionally then so be it but from now on my diet is changing and my preventitive sinus and allergy health care is as well. Back to basics.

The first night I tried it I woke up the next day and was so shocked I could breathe and my pain level decreased from a literal-NO JOKING HERE-ten to a three!!!!!! The next day was better. But I am also using clear rinse sinus rinse every thirty minutes in each nostril-you can google that-no I don't sell it. It's kind of an experiment because there was some big AD on YT about another product like it twice the price that is supposed to kill the bacteria if used every thirty minutes for about three days to a week. Same darn ingredients. I am sorry it's called Ocean I got it at CVS. It is really taking the sinus pain away. I was in so much pain that I almost went to an emergency room for pain without health insurance. The local honey my landlord told me about makes sense because that would-it seems where ever you live, build up your immune system to fight against pollens etc.

Good luck guys-allergies and sinus pain is awful it has shut down my social life I literally haven't ecercised or dated in a year. Wish me luck! Much luv!!!"

08/15/2011: Debbo from Dallas, Texas replies: "Yogagirl I am right there with you! I am absolutely miserable! I am trying ACV for the first time and I believe it is helping. I have been on 4 months of antibiotics and steroids for my Sinusitis. I now have to get surgery (which I hate) but nothing has been able to help me. I am from Dallas too and I swear Texas is the worst place for allergies. I am allergic to everything in the state of Texas except for fire ants. Yay. My social and dating life is nonexistent and hasn't been for over a year. I physically cannot exercise due to the fatigue and exhaustion the sinus infections have on me. I don't know if you have tried an ACV detox bath but I have done that before and it worked amazing, but then the pain came back so hopefully this combo will get me through the next couple of weeks till surgery! It is comforting to know that I am not the only one going through this. Makes me feel less crazy! Hope everything is working out for you and life is getting back to normal! Wishing you luck!"

[YEA]  06/13/2011: Shiverling from Mackay, Queensland, Australia writes: "Last week, after having bad pain in one sinus(maxillary) and green disharge, I thought that only a trip to the doctor and antibiotics would sort this out. But I read everyone's tips here on apple cider vinegar and decided to try it (with scepticism). After sniffing the steam of hot half apple cider vinegar and water, the next morning I woke to no pain and only a slight clear discharge and have been better now for days. These home remedies here are worth their weight in gold and I'll be happy to hang around and hear even more :)."

Now full blown infection. I'm excited to try this home remedy! Thanks for the posting and feedback on this!"
06/14/2011: Shiverling from Mackay, Qld, Australia replies: "I hope that it works for you too Jen, please let me know how you go with this :)

It wasn't the nicest thing to do-sniffing such a strong-smelling concoction and the steam left a little burning sensation in my nose, but I was able to blow out so much gunk afterwards. Now I'm also trying other remedies for better health including eating 1 or 2 cloves of raw garlic each day & have also started oil-pulling.

After being so fatigued over the years(no energy & need at least 9-12 hours of sleep per day just to function), this morning I woke at 6. 30am, got the kids ready & off to school, myself off to work and I felt so energetic.. Am hoping that this isn't a fluke(or placebo effect), that perhaps these remedies are doing something for my constant tiredness."

[YEA]  04/15/2011: Sheila from San Diego, Ca, Usa writes: "Six months ago I had a sinus infection with flu-like symptoms. I used the standard apple cider vinegar (ACV)-water mixture to dose myself for relief. It helped me considerably, and cut the progress of the infection and flu short. I whole-heartedly believe that the ACV did the trick. My sinuses were clearing up and the mucus thinned so that my breathing was easy and not painful.

I also believe the ACV 'kick-started' my menstrual cycle at the same time I was sick with the sinus infection -- I was miserable, but thankfully not for long, and the ACV helped with reducing the usual menstrual symptoms I had suffered in the past; missed cycles, heavy flow, cramping, bloating, achiness, grouchiness.

After that month, 6 months ago, I haven't had a sinus infection. There was a time I felt an inkling of an infection coming on, and one dose of ACV did the trick, no onset of infection. Six months ago was also the last time I had a menstrual cycle -- thought I was going premenopausal since I'm only in my early 40s, also, I developed a chalazion (doctor confirmed) on my lower eyelash line a few weeks after I recovered from my sinus infection, and stopping use of ACV. The chalazion has been with me ever since.

Since developing the chalazion, I've used a rue fennel eyewash, tea compresses, Similsan eye drops; nothing worked, until I searched on Earthclinic for a remedy -- castor oil. (I also have pingueculae on both of my eyes, started about 7 years ago after lasik surgery and dryness.)

------------------

Geez, I sound like a mess, don't I?

When I read more on castor oil for my chalazion, I crossed my fingers hoping for more benefits, like ridding myself of the pingueculae.

-----------------

Now, after starting ACV again, but for maintenance purposes (I read D. C. Jarvis's "Folk Medicine"), my period miraculously re-started and my chalazion has shrunk down, and my eye is looking more normal. I was using castor oil with a warm compress or a steam on the chalazion for about 15 days prior to starting ACV. I did see results from the castor oil on my chalazion, but I think with using both the ACV and castor oil, they speeded up healing the chalazion.

My benefits from ACV and Earthclinic are three-fold: a remedy for sinus infection/flu; menstrual symptom relief (and re-start); reduction to almost no chalazion! I'm going to keep going with a one-dose-a-day of ACV to keep my menstruation cycle regular, but for now continue the ACV and castor oil treatment to see if I can completely heal the chalazion. I will update this when the chalazion is gone.

(Oh yes! Can't forget: the castor oil has given me the best nights' (plural) sleep in a very long time.)

Sheila"

05/03/2011: Alvina from Damascus, Oregon replies: "I put castor oil on my upper eyelids before I go to bed and it helps me to go to sleep and sleep deep (except for nature calls)"
05/04/2011: Merryanne from Orange City, Florida, Usa replies: "If you need help to sleep take Melatonin, it is marvalous, read up on it, it does a lot of good for the body, it is given to children also to help sleep, and it is not a narcotic."
05/04/2011: Sheila from San Diego, Ca, Usa replies: "Hi L,

I either put a drop of Castor Oil straight in each eye, or take a drop on the tip of my finger and apply it onto each lid. I don't do this every night now since my body seems to have adjusted to a certain time to sleep. It does do the trick though.

I've used melatonin, as Merryanne has suggested, but I don't like to use animal hormones unless it was a dire situation. Instead of melatonin, I use the herb Valerian. It doesn't taste the best, but I got used to it. Buy the tincture and most instructions say to use 30-60 drops in a glass of water. When I take it, I usually do so before dinner at home."

05/05/2011: Bruno from Sao Paulo, Brazil replies: "I have struggled with sleeping since I was a teenager (I'm now 34). I tried everything melatonin, valerian, OTC sleep meds, prescription meds, etc. Only OTC and prescription medicine worked, but with side effects (feeling drowsy in the morning, additiction, etc). Not acceptable.

Last year I discovered by accident something that works flawlesly everytime: vitamin B3 (Niacin) in the form of nicotinic acid (not niacinamide, the non-flush kind). I buy it in bulk for cheap, powdered, but you can get pills also.

Start on the low side and increase the amount until you get a nice flush: feeling warm, the skin gets red, and you can feel your blood rushing. In the beginning it might make you itch, but I no longer get that. All effects go away in one hour or two, and you are left feeling sleepy anc calm. As a bonus it also lowers colesterol, helps with psychiatric conditions, decreases alchohol cravings, aids in cancer natural treatments, lifts depression, etc. Just do some research on the work of doctor Abram Hoffer.

An excellent website is doctoryourself.com, but there are many others out there focused on vitamin therapies and orthomolecular medicine. I can't tell you how much my life has improved since adding mega doses of Vit C and B3."

12/18/2011: Evelyn from Riverside, Ri replies: "I was down all week with what the doctor said was a sinus infection (terrible pain all over my head and in my face and eyes, so bad it made me vomit) all week. He gave me azithromycin, which gave me some really uncomfortable body aches. I'm a firm believer in natural medicine, but because this thing was so nasty and because the course was only three pills, I took the antibiotic. I've been reading all the great posts on ACV and am sipping some right now in hot water and honey to make sure this thing doesn't come back. I don't mind the taste, though I worry about the effect on tooth enamel, so a few months ago when using the ACV for something else, I bought some glass straws (if the ACV can eat tooth enamel, I don't know what it'll do to a plastic straw) and will just rinse with water. I used to make salad dressing out of ACV - guess I'll start doing that again too. I might even try a little in my neti pot just to make sure! Just as an aside - cold pressed castor oil - not the one you buy in the drug store for constipation, but the one mentioned here used to heal the eye problem, should NEVER be taken internally, so please don't do that. This type of castor oil is for external use only, and it says so on the bottle. I will tell you that when my son was little, he used to get a chalazion-like thing on his upper eyelid, and I would saturate a four-fold piece of clean, white flannel soaked in warmed castor oil and keep it over his eye for a few hours off and on over a couple of days. When taking it off, I soaked his eye with warm water. Within two days the infection drained and was always better. That stuff is great too."

I bought 5 allegra tablets and took 2. Could not stand the side affects. Out of desperation I asked the internet and found Apple Cider Vinegar as a possible cure. I went to the store and got Apple Cider Vinegar and honey. Went home and mixed it up. I no longer feel I am going to choke and die in the morning. I am 54 and it was just getting worse. My third day and I feel great. I can breath through my nose again and have a lot more energy and sleep good at night and wake up with clear unconjested sinus's.

Also use to suffer from canker sores 45 years. The internet saved me again. After suffering with canker sores that would sap my energy and cause severe pain and loss of appetite due to the pain while eating. Well this is what has cured me toms tooth paste that is SLS free. They put detergrant in toothpaste and this aggravated any injuries to your mouth and would cause canker sores. I would get at least 15 to 25 a year. They would be tough ones and last 7 to 10 days and hurt. Lot of pain that I do not experience any more. I still get about 2 a year but I notice them and they are gone without any pain. They heal fast and I can eat without pain and they no longer bother me. They heal as fast as I notice them. I have not had 1 yet that has caused me discomfort. 3 years I have used tom's non SLS free toothpaste. just like apple cider vinager it works. "

I learned it from a web-site(couldn't remember which one) which recommended adult to take it the minute the sinus infection start w/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar w/a bit of honey 3x a day for at least 3 days or more. I think that's the key, the minute you felt you come down w/stuffy nose you should start the treatment right away, don't delay.

In my son case, he took 1 tbsp 3x a day w/1/2 tbsp Manuka honey. Manuka honey apparently has property stronger than antibiotic that can cures many ailments, among them is sinus infection, that's what the researcher claim. Anyway, the combination of these two treatments have been working great for my son. Usually he would get round of antibiotic from his doctor but no more. We've been able to avoid going to the doctor ever since we started this treatment. I've noticed that if I forgot to give him his apple cider vinegar treatment(before he goes to bed at night) then he has trouble sleeping due to stuffy nose, etc. w/apple cider vinegar and manuka honey treatment, he slept good at night and able to get rid the sinus infection w/in few days. I hope this information help."

12/26/2010: Gina from Athens, Alabama writes: "About 2 wks ago I started feeling pain which became maybe the worst sinus infection I have ever had -- or at least in years. I was advised to use Mucinex D and Tylenol, then prescribed antibiotics and steroids for a week, and advised to use nasal spray and even an inhaler when my coughing fits started to alarm everybody I was around. The day I started taking all this, I found the website. I decided to go ahead and take all the meds first. They helped some, but never completely cleared my head.

I have been using the 2 Tbsp ACV and 1 tsp honey in a tea 1x a day for the last 3 days. The first cup of tea completely cleared my head in just a short while. I looked again today and found that I should be drinking this more than 1x a day, so I will be increasing my doses. I hate taking prescription meds, and usually avoid doctors until I just can't, so I am excited to find this natural remedy and am encouraged by the results I feel already. I still have some pain occasionally in my head, and am still stuffy at times, but the tea always takes care of it. Its not a great flavored drink, but I have found I can drink it much more easily today than I did three days ago. Looking forward to being well and I will be checking out your site for other things as well -- thank you! "

I started out taking astra isatis (got the tablets from my acupuncturist); drinking lots of tea; drinking hot water with red pepper, lemon, and honey; and using my neti pot. That all helped a lot but now I want to try the ACV to get the final gunk out. I'm tired of spitting out crap every few minutes and feeling like I'm confined to the house because of it

I had my first ACV drink (2 tsps of ACV with a tsp of local honey) this afternoon. I'll be drinking another one in a few minutes."

I had a full blown sinus infection and was headed again to the Doctor. Well, I drank the ACV with honey and I also added a drop or two to my sinus flush with salt. Well the infection in my head and chest went completely away except that I waited too long and my ears got infected and I had to get antibiotics anyway.

Since then I've had multiple sinus infections and the ACV always makes my head feel better and my sinuses don't clamp up like normal making the infection worse. I wouldn't say ACV is a cure but I would say it's a great preventative and I recommend it to everyone. I carry it now while traveling and use a drop or two in my sinus rinse while in Hotels. I don't do this everyday but maybe once a week. If I have an infection I go to once per day. I have also combined this with the over the counter straight Mucinex and with both of these my head it back to normal for a month or so until I go outside and rake leaves or walk through the woods. Then I clamp up unless I use this ACV. Thanks very very much."

The problem with sinus surgeries is that a patient will have to undergo these about every three to five years for relief and what happens when there is no more sinus to remove? Good grief! So I am trying everything to avoid that, and also to avoid taking antibiotics. The last antibiotic prescribed was a fluoroquinolone called Levaquin and it nearly killed me. Those kinds of antibiotics are famous for causing long term to permanent damage body wide and also central nervous symptom problems. It can cause tendinitis, which it did! It's been a roller coaster ride... So I tried this natural remedy today just to see. I am cured! I've been using the ACV remedy for about 3 or 4 days. Posted initially and didn't realize I was using the wrong ACV. Used organic, unfiltered but didn't know it has to be unpasteurized also until today. I'm going to pick up B----'s to have on hand. Even so, I can't believe how quickly the wrong ACV worked! Over the course of 25 years, I took antibiotics 3-5 times a year. I took OTC anti-inflammatories, sudafed, guaifenesin before and after it went OTC, steroidal nasal sprays, and prescription decongestants. All this time, all I needed was the ACV remedy!

I'd just finished a 10-day course of antibiotics about 6 or 7 weeks ago when I came down with another infection 4 or 5 days ago. I thought I'd have to consider surgery finally, when I came across your site. As I wrote in my prior post, I started drinking 2 tbsp organic, unfiltered ACV in 10 oz water w/1 tsp raw honey. On day two, I made it w/8 oz. water and 2 tsp raw honey. I drank it twice daily. 3 or 4 days later, I feel 100%. I've told all my friends and co-workers about the ACV remedy, so now I'll be sure to tell them to get the right ACV. Thank you EC!"

Flush out sinuses with a neti pot or plastic squeeze bottle (I personally think some plastic squeeze bottles enable you to get liquid higher up and are easier to use than neti pots) using a solution of 8 ounces warm water (not too hot! ) and about 4 drops ACV. Mix and pour 4 ounces into netti/squeeze bottle to use to irrigate right sinus, and then irrigate left sinus with the remaining 4 ounces. Irrigate like this at morning and at night, along with drinking the 2 tablespoons of ACV in water 3X a day, and you should be finally clearing up your sinuses!!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  06/23/2010: Sheila from New York, Ny, Usa writes: "I am 46 and have suffered from sinus infections for 25 years. I do find using a neti pot with saline solution helps as a preventive measure and, if I have an infection, it temporarily relieves congestion. Avoiding dairy, with the exception of soured products is very helpful. Sudafed and steroidal sprays sometimes keep an infection at bay if I start using them soon enough. But over the last 2 years, the presenting symptoms have changed so I often don't realize I'm on the verge of getting an infection. Instead, I feeel fine and and then, seemingly out of nowhere, my teeth and jaws aches, the pressure begins, and so does the bad taste in my mouth. Very quickly, The pain becomes so unbearable that I wish someone would lop off my head. Then there's the nausea, from swallowing the nasty drip. And the lightheadness or dizziness. All in all, it's horrendous.

Unlike a lot of posters, I did use antibiotics several times/year and had much success. But I worry more & more about the bacteria morphing and becoming resistant. And who wouldn't rather refrain from using prescription drugs if natural remedies work?

All this to say that I mixed up 2 TBSP of organic, undiluted ACV in 10 oz. warm water & a good TSP of raw honey and drank it down thru a straw a little over an hour ago. The congestion & pressure has eased. My ears popped and no longer feel clogged at all. My teeth and jaw are not throbbing and my eyes somehow feel less swollen. I'm thrilled! It's bedtime now, so I'll be curious to see how I sleep and how I feel in the morning after a 2nd dose. Maybe I diluted the ACV more than most and I'm sure the honey helped too. But I didn't find the taste as horrifying or burning as a lot of other posters.

At any rate, I'm really encouraged by how much better I feel & how quickly! A million thanks!"

Your changing symptoms (esp pain in the teeth and jaws) sound like they could be a form of migraine. Migraines and sinus issues can occur in tandem, or can mimic each other. I have both and it has taken me a long time to get a handle on them. Changes in barometric pressure are a big trigger for both sinus problems and migraines, as are allergens (dietary and environmental). For migraine prevention I now take 400 mg of magnesium citrate per day. I have not had a migraine in over a year. Just a thought for people who are suffering from chronic sinus issues."

It's now mid May and I'm on my knee's sneezing really thick deep green things that fill a scott towel and thinking of a doctors visit.

Then I found this site. Read a bunch and came a crossed ACV mix's for flushing the sinus. A good friend told me about Apple Cider Vinegar once, and how it helps the body.

Picked up a Neti Pot(under$20) which came with a bunch of pre mixed packets. I just grabbed the Neti Pot and mixed 8oz of warm water with 1 tablespoon of ACV with a big pitch of salt. Poured through nose with no pain until 1/2 hour later. One moller right side went crazy (pain) all the way to the root tip. As well as sneezing while it drained. 2 advil's to reduce pain. Fell asleep for 3 hours.

Made a second batch, 8oz warm water 1 tablespoon of ACV plus another 1/2 tablespoon of ACV for good measure, no salt.

Complete flush with no pain during or later. 1 hour later sneezing is only clear fluid.

Moller has totally subsided to normal and I feel great in a 20 hour span from the first flush to right now.

I'm totally impressed and will be passing this on to all.

Things that our family has learned:

Everyone is different; one member of our family would rather drink 2 tablespoons of ACV mixed with 8 ounces of water.

Neti Pot works best for me, pass me 2tbl spoons of ACV in 8oz of warm water in the Neti Pot and I'm fine in an hour or so.

We first bought a small container of ACV thinking that it would last for years. But we now use it for so much that we only buy gallon jugs.

We are constantly learning of new (to us) uses for ACV.

We use it in cooking.

As our first line of defense for colds, skin issues or etc.

It can be used as a disinfectant in the kitchen or bathroom, after mixed with water the strong smell goes away, we still have Clorox cleanup around, but we use a lot less of it.

The main focus is that bacteria cannot survive in ACV, once anyone learns that, the conversation is over.

Enjoy some good reading here.

I have had very bad sinuses for many many years and has been very debilitating. It is primarily on the right side of my head and i believe that the upper right frontal/temple are the culprits here. One day I did 8 ozes of water with 2 tablespoons vinegar 3 times a day then the next day I took an 8 oz cup with 2 tablespoons in the morning and then i sipped 16 ozs with one quarter cup of vinegar throughout the morning/afternoon then I went back to the 8 oz swig that evening. Although it really seemed to help the rest of the sinuses this front upper on the right remains stubborn. My ear on the right side is constantly filling up and throbbing and I have to keep blowing out my eustachian tube. I think maybe this has from the upper sinuses and infection from the upper right sinus? In that upper right area I get pounding and extreme spaciness which I believe increase as I take the vinegar. This morning i inhaled in steam 50/50 water/vinegar. It made me very spacy and the spaciness is obviously coming out of that upper right area. The spaciness is in different degrees and sometimes almost to the degree I cannot think. It makes my memory and concentration very bad as well. Am I doing the correct thing? Should I be drinking vinegar with water all day and at what strength? For how long? Also the steam seems to get up there. How often should i do that and should i maybe do pure vinegar as opposed to mixing it with water? . . please help. Thank You Mike"

In addition to what I wrote there, she found great relief and help with the neti pot and hydrogen peroxide or sea salt for herself. That was the relief and partial aid to ridding herself of the infection but truly the answer to be done with all of these issues was to eliminate dairy from her diet. If you still eat dairy, seriously consider eliminating it and you will absolutely see the difference it will make. She has not had another sinus or bronchial incidence since. It has been well worth it to her. She was a huge dairy fan before this revelation so the change was monumental but the results so clear that she has been committed to staying away from it.

I hope this helps, Lisa"

I live on 100 acres secluded and our woodstove is now OUTSIDE... although we do live 2 km from a 4 lane highway.

We eat a holistic allergy free diet (no wheat, gluten, dairy, soy, corn, refined sugar) and we sprout, eat high raw foods, grow and juice wheatgrass etc.

From what I have read about mold... sounds like that could be the root cause of most peoples sinus issues and can stay in the sinuses for years.

My girlfriend has 4 children. In their old house (where they did have to deal with mold and mice) they had a horrible time. The kids were always seeming to get sick, her one son was snoring and a mouth breather, lots of coughing, she has seasonal allergies etc. Since they moved to their new house they are doing wayyyy better!!! |Wish I could do the same!

I do however look forward to moving out of our house in a few weeks and into our trailer to see if I no longer wake up stuffy and brain fogged in the morning and hopefully this head cold will be gone by then!"

I never had sinus issues like this till I moved into this Apartment 4 years ago, and I know there is mold and mildew on the insides of the walls since I had a broken pipe, and they had to open up the walls. I wonder how many people have sinus issues due to mold , mildew or other toxic problems where they live. I also found out that laying off all milk products helps as well."

Almost to the hour I was breathing really clearly and my sence of smell was coming back! I am so excited about this. Thank you so much for posting this suggestion :)"

Lately, they have been getting progressively worse and much more severe. The deciding factor for me to try one of the suggested remedies was when, just a few days ago, I experienced severe sinus blockage on the left side of my face and what I initially thought to be some dental problems as my cheek was swollen from the impacted sinus cavity. Anyway, I scanned the various remedies and tried the 50/50 mixture of ACV and purified water. I mixed up the solution and put it in to an unused nasal mister bottle. The suggestion was to pump 4-5 sprays in to each nostril. I knew it would sting with the 5% acidity of the ACV so I opted for 1 pump in each nostril to start. I was glad I did as it definitely stings for approx. 10 sec. I also chose to sniff my nose to get it further in to the blocked sinuses. If you can tough out the stinging, you should be quite pleased with the results. I actually ended up doing 4 pumps in each nostril just not all at once. Within a half hour my sinuses were starting to open up and the pain was subsiding in the upper jaw. Approximately 3 hours later and I was able to breath through my left nostril that was previously blocked. I can testify to the effectiveness of this treatment as it really cleared me up and saved me tremendous medical costs as this solution cost less than 25 cents to mix. I need to inform you, however, that prior to this treatment I tried the steaming method which consisted using 50/50 parts of ACV and water brought to a boil. It didn't seem to be working as effectively as I had hoped it would so I went to the aforementioned remedy.

After my sinuses were under control I decided to dilute the mixture to a 1 part ACV to 2 part water and will now use as a sinus prevention program. Hope this information is helpful to all of you that suffer from sinuses."

I am also one of the many in this country without health or dental insurance. So when I woke up with my ear bothering me even more, I searched for a natural cure for sinus infection and was directed to earth clinic. The main things I found to treat a sinus infection was steaming my sinuses( shower turned up all the way and sat in a steam filled bathroom for 15 minutes) hot tea with honey, and Apple Cider Vinegar. 2 Table spoons mixed with 8 oz of water 3 times a day. With the severaty(sp?) of my sinus infection, it did take a week to feel nearly 100% better! Since finding your website, I have been in Awe at how many remedies are out there. So thank you. I will be recomending this website to everyone I know. Thank You again for helping those in need with inexpensive natural remadies for those of us who need them."
