Hydrogen Peroxide as a Natural Remedy: Benefits and Precautions

Bad Breath

My boyfriend started using pysillium a few weeks ago to cleanse his intestinal tract. He felt great, but my God! his breath became so foul!! After a few days of being polite, I finally figured that I needed to say something and help him find a cure. I figured it had to have been caused by a change in his intestinal flora from the pysllium. The change must have caused severe candida overgrowth. His tongue was coated in white -- a sure sign. I had him take a few capsules of ParaGone (it was what was leftover in my medicine cabinet) to start to kill off the candida. That seemed to help, but didn't completely stop the halitosis. This is going to sound gross, but I made him open his mouth to detect whether the stench was coming from his breath, or from his teeth. I have particularly good smell and pinpointed that the smell was coming from the upper right side of his mouth! Well, after that I had him soak his mouth in straight hydrogen peroxide for about 3 minutes. Once it foamed up, I had him to it again. That was the cure! No more bad breath! The peroxide did make his tongue sensitive for a few days, so I would suggest to anyone trying this that they dilute the peroxide in water. I think that bad breath is often a sign of candida or yeast overgrowth so killing it in the mouth with peroxide AND taking some kind of candida cleanse is the answer. One more note: I read on the internet that it can take up to 3 weeks to cure bad breath. Well, this took a few minutes with the peroxide. Don't believe what you read! Hope this helps some of your readers. Thanks. Sharon.

Nails

My BIG toes are victims of injuries from "new" shopping carts 2 summers ago. I was wearing sandals both times. Our visiting podiatrist said that due these injuries I may have a nail fungus. But, my nails are NOT yellow. They were only bruised and the "mother cells"/half-moon seem to be helping them to grow to the "free edge." The podiatrist removed the loose nails and now the left toe "new nail" has nearly reached the "free edge." The right toe was re-injured accidentally and only has grown 1/2 way to the "free edge." My Dr. said the remedy he had in mind would be unaffordable for me. I have resorted to "peroxide" treatments and my toenails look like they are healing.

Peroxide seems to help the "mother cells" grow a new nail. I apply it once every day with a cotton ball saturated with the peroxide. Naturally it dries it out, but I do see some growth on the nail. Time will tell and I will keep in touch with the results.

I don't know if it because I have a 9 1/2 shoe size that my wonderful grand kids keep stepping/jumping on the "trying to heal" big toes of mine ..........or what. But, it certainly slows it down.

Also, my primary Dr. didn't know how to cure a "root type" ....which could be a cyst on a node on my ring finger. I used a prescribed ointment called HYDROCORTISONE CREAM USP 2.5% strength. The sac became irritated again. I use this "lightly" as directed about 3 times per day with the results that it has cured the irritation although I can still see the dried up tiny sac. The cream I use is comparable to the "off the shelf" hydrocortisone cream USP but, it has a stronger effect on the affected area.

Hope this feedback helps and you can pass it on. These are only my ways of curing and rather experimental.

I have used hydrogen peroxide to cure stomach ulcers. Just place a few drops in a 8 oz. glass of water and take it daily about three or 4 days and it will heal the stomach.

I have never ever recommended the use of Hydrogen peroxide in the ears. Yes H2O2 works very well, but not by the ear. It works best when taken internally. Especially when you also add a small amount of vinegar. (It becomes peracetic acid, which is great medicine against SARS - sars don't like acid). For me the most efficient way to get H2O2 into my system without doing dubious things such as IV is to slosh or spray 3% H2O2 on my arms, legs, feet, hands, neck, chest and back. It is much more efficient than putting them in your ears. Of course if you want to get rid of ear wax using H2O2 this is o.k. but not as a cold prevention. A cold prevention or viral outbreak would have been much more effective to use it via mouth wash and putting on skin. Simple reason: your body's skin have the largest areas for H2O2 absorption. H2O2 gets absorbed through the skin quite more efficiently than the intestinal tract, but intestinal tract is also important to take some H2O2 to clear up the pathogens. By the way, viruses also get absorbed through the skin this way to by actions of Langerhan's cells, which unfortunately goes directly to the lymph system and destroys your immune system just the same. To prevent tricky viruses, use H2O2 frequently on the skin. It prevents such from destroying your most prized possession of your body necessary to maintain health your immune system. My favorite way to rid of pathogens, at least no. 1 is to slosh my mouth (after brushing teeth WITHOUT fluoride) using 3% H2O2. I now do this every day. Foams just come shooting out, just to show you how much bacteria I have. I will not recommend anyone doing 3% just start with 0.5-1% H2O2 and once you get use to it you can work yourself up as best as you see fit. A majority of people are much more sensitive than me therefore please lean on the safe side. I am not totally successful in killing of pathogens with a clear rate of success, but H2O2 is the best I have seen so far.

I tried using hydrogen peroxide in my ear last night to ward off the beginnings of a cold. It worked fabulously in my left ear; bubbled and fizzed, then drained out smoothly. Really quite pleasant. So I went on to my right ear. It will not drain out! My sinus issues are much improved, and I slept fine, but this morning my right ear is still clogged and beginning to ache. I tried the hydrogen peroxide again, hoping it would sort out whatever had gone wrong. But no luck. If it had worked the same in both ears I would be quite pleased with the home-cure, but as it's left me with a whole new pain to deal with ... I don't think I'll try it again.

I heard many years ago that the cold/flu virus enters the body through the ears. As a healthcare professional, it seemed utterly ridiculous that anybody would be so "ignorant" as to believe this -- clearly . . . medical science has shown that viruses are typically transmitted through contact with mucous membranes (touch the door knob, pick your nose -- voila). I wasn't feeling well one day -- actually, for about two or three days, and I decided -- what the heck, I'll pour some peroxide in my ears, and see what happens. I swear, on all that is holy -- I did this twice a day for two days, and when I woke the third morning, I felt SO much better! I don't know if the peroxide CURED me or not, but -- my cold was gone -- so, I don't care.

I have been using the h2o2 drops in my ears for 2 years now. Since that time I have been cold and flu free. I used to get them 2x a year plus terrible sinus infections. What a relief! I share it with everyone, even total strangers in stores if I see they have a cold.

Yes, it works! I felt the usual symptoms of a cold last week - low energy, swollen lymphs, etc. and promptly added hydrogen peroxide to each ear for about a minute. I felt better immediately and never got the cold.

I used the hydrogen peroxide in the ears at the first sign of a runny nose and sore throat. A half an hour later I felt great and I still feel great today.

I gargled with a capful of hydrogen peroxide mixed into 1/4 cup of water and also swished it around my mouth and the next morning my cold was gone.

I have found that peroxide in the ear can stop a cold even after it starts. I lucked up when doing this method, I didn't know about these home remedies then, I was just off from work because I was sick and decided to clean out my ears because I had extra time. Gargling might help to break up irritation and mucus in the throat. I say this because my ears nose and mouth don't seem to be as closed off from on another as the average person. After adding peroxide in my ears, I immediately tasted it in my mouth (really in the back of my throat). It felt like I needed to belch, and when I did, all the stuff in my throat came up. It was weird for me but it does seem to break up and stop symptoms of colds.

I have often used peroxide in my ears for ear infections. My mom used it on me as a child and I have since done so. This week I had a severe bought of what I suppose is the flu. My jaws, ears, and throat ached extremely bad. After using peroxide in my ears, my symptoms would ease up. It did the same for my husband when I did this for him.

I used H2O2 on a foot wound. After three days it was ok. Before using H2O2 i have visisted 10 doctors to treat my wound, but they failed to heal that. Then i used H2O2 on that wound and it was cured. Wound was on my Foot Finger. It was like a winter disease (cold disease). Thanks.

After you cleanse the cut on your finger with hydrogen peroxide and find the blood got on your favorite shirt/blouse, use that same hydrogen peroxide to remove the blood from that article of clothing. Just soak the blood stain with undiluted hydrogen peroxide for a for a good five to ten minutes. You will be able to see the blood vanishing before your eyes. Rinse with cold water and wash the article of clothing as usual.
