Hydrogen Peroxide as a Natural Remedy: Benefits and Precautions

I'm taking 35% FGHP in milk, as per instructions, and was wondering if I could use deionized water rather than distilled water due to the cost?

Hi there,

Well now my children's stools like orange redish, and my 3 year old that only wears a daiper while she is sleeping went in her diaper before I could get to her. I would definetly say her body is cleaning out, but is there any way possible I am harming her with the h202? Please I am deseperate to know. There is still redness in her private parts and I don't know what else I need to do.

Thanks, Janna

Good day sir,

Finally I found someone to help me give this to my children. I have a 3 and 2 year old and I'm nursing a 3 month old. I have been taking h202 for a week and I'm at 10x3. My children are not past 2x3 becuase I'm not sure about there bowel movements. My son and daughter both have food intolerences/allergies to dairy, wheat, and sugar. That is the case for my husband and I as well. My children's stools are very soft and my son (more severe case) had liquid stool for a day or so. Not sure if it was the cheddar cheese or the h202.

When should I see improvment?

Am I hurting them?

How high can I go with them?

What are the risk taking it while nursing and giving it to my young children?

Thank so much in advance for your wisdom, availablity, and kindness in answering my questions.

Thank you, Janna

Hi Janna, I would not be increasing the H202 for your children, they are only 2 and 3 yrs old. Most people are taking H202 for cancer and viruses not food allergies. I suggest you don't give your children the foods they are allergic to and leave it at that. I also think you are taking far too much H202 whilst breastfeeding.

Drug Store Peroxide

Posted by Lisaj (Stamford, Ct, Usa) on 08/13/2010

I've been reading the posts and Bill Munroe's accounts with H202. I went to the drugstore - on the bottle it said 3% stabalized and if swallow contact your local poison control. It says for external use only. I know alot of readers and Bill has been using this for inhaling but it kind of scared me off. I think I would rather try the 35% food grade and dilute it. The closest health food store doesn't carry it. I'm wondering if Whole Foods might. What do you all think? That 3% would have been ok or does anyone know off hand if Whole Foods carries it. This site is fantastic. I'd like to thank everyone who posts for their helpful comments. Thanks, Lisa

Hi Lisa - Try asking your health food store to order 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide for you. Some customer-oriented stores are more than willing to do that because people use it for sprouting, as well as for other purposes. Also, stores usually do not keep 35% food-grade HP on the shelves due to safety regulations (you don't want kids opening up a bottle and spilling it on themselves) so they keep it in the storeroom. You just have to ask them to retrieve it for you. The one I go to in Calgary keeps it in the back room. Good luck!

Lisa - 35% food grade must be diluted to 3% with water. Check out Teds Earth Clinic articles on Hydrogen Peroxide

Drug Store Peroxide

What is meant by stabilizers and contaminates in the drugstore type of Hydrogen Peroxide, and what harm can it cause if it's ingested? I've read on this site that there are people who are using the drugstore variety and no mention of any health issues with this type of peroxide.

I'm interested in trying peroxide therapy but not sure which to use. I'm a little fearful of the food grade type because of it's potency and I found a site where you can purchase it, but they have to send it haz mat. The drugstore type sounds easier and you can buy it directly from the store, but the stabilizers and contaminates have me concerned.

If you add the store peroxide to a glass of water, can the water be from the tap, or should it be distilled and how much peroxide to how much water? Please help with questions. Thank you.

Hi Nancy, you can look on the back of the label for the 3% hydrogen peroxide and it will state, "Active ingredient"......."hydrogen peroxide 3%". If it says (stabilized) then it has stabilizers, if not then its ok.

Hi Nancy, someone with scientific knowledge replied to an inquiry further up that you should NEVER mix H2O2 food grade with tap water. Use only distilled water to prevent an ugly surprise.

The use of food grade 35% Hydrogen Peroxide with tap water is contraproductive. You are actually mixing chemicals in a bad way. The fact that you don't see any problems, doesn't mean it is safe. Distilled or spring water with no additives is not that expensive. Better be safe than sorry.

Chlorination of drinking water removes oxygen. When exposed to other compounds hydrogen peroxide dismutates readily. The extra oxygen atom is released leaving H20 (water). In nature oxygen (02) consists of two atoms--a very stable combination. A single atom of oxygen, however, is very reactive and is referred to as a free radical.

I recently had a terrible cold and used some hydrogen peroxide in my ears as they were tickly and I had a lot of post-nasal drip causing me to cough every few seconds. This has often helped me. This time, I let the hydrogen peroxide sit as normal, then drained it, but did not have a chance to lay on that side for long to completely drain. Next morning...slightly clogged ear, with slight hearing loss. Its been a few days with the clogged ear, I figured it would resolve itself. Now I noticed when I rub below the outside of my ear, it's a little tender...worried hydrogen peroxide got caught up in the ear canal and causing its own problem. Any advice?

Thanks

Editor's Choice Dear Karri,

Hydrogen is so widely used in the ears...I would tend to think the problem with your ears is a complication of your cold and not the peroxide.

Either way, a clove of garlic may do the trick.

You can peel a clove of garlic, being careful not to prick it. Just get off the papery part. Find a clove that is big enough to put at the opening of your ear but that is not small enough to go into your ear. Use a bandana or something to keep it at the opening to your ear for an hour or two. Garlic (and onions) tend to draw out fluid. They also help inflammation and infection.

A warm rice sock would be an alternative to the above. Or your could alternate.

I hope it feels better soon!

Hi karrie, have you tried tapping the area below your ear? This method does work well for sinus and ear probs, basically you just keep your head upright and use only light gentle taps with your middle finger all around the ear but especially under the lobe of the ear and this encourages drainage into your throat, there are many methods shown for this on utube. By the way it works for me. Good luck.

All was resolved with my ear, and I'm assuming the clogging was from the terrible cold I had. I did the tapping around my ear and it seemed to help get the draining going. I also did gentle heat from a heating pad. Dang, that was a really bad situation, I had no voice for weeks and also gargled diluted hydrogen peroxide which helped for that (3% strength generic from the grocery store), as did oil pulling. I also used the hydrogen peroxide in the humidifier in my bedroom....seemed to help with symptoms. I think that was the worst illness I've had since the '90s. I can not experience one like that for at least a decade or so! Be well everyone :)

Hi, I recently had a laryngitis and treated it with antibiotics, the result of it, have an issue with vertigo ( dizziness), I'm taking 3% HP, from the drug store, started with one drop in a little bit of water and increasing the intake by on drop, until ten drops ( twice in a day ), could you please let me know what I'm doing is safe for the stomach lining, and is any thing else I can do specifically for the dizziness? Thank you so much, Angelika

Hi Angelika, It sounds to me like the antibiotics messed up your gut microbiome. Look into repairing that with probiotics. Also look into a low histamine diet as part of your healing process. I found that foods high in benzoates in particular and foods high in oxylates were causing me to have vestibular migraines which manifested as severe vertigo spells. Everyone is different, but I hope this info helps you find what you need to do for the dizziness. Good luck.

I have had itchy ears for a few months after having an ear infection. I used a very small amount of hydrogen peroxide on a q-tip. This has definitely worked. Although I would not recommend pouring it in your ear during a ear ache as I did this and ended up with a very painful infection.

I did the same mistake. I had infected an ear and poured a cap full to boil out my ear...well it swelled up and trapped some on the inner ear...very very painful had to get a wick put in my ear..which was no fun either.

My doc said a small amount on Qtip would have been better. But I put nothing but my elbow in my ear...lol.

Started on 35% food grade 10 days ago. Am using 12 drops 3 times daily as recommended by Cavanaugh. I have been in the heating and air business for 30 years and have suffered from chronic sinus and ear infections due to the dust and molds that I encounter at work. I have had two sinus surgeries over the years that have done nothing to help me. The doctors give antibiotics that never seem to clear the infections all the way and the infections always return. I am happy to say that my ears and sinuses are responding to this treatment. I really don't know what "normal" sinuses feel like. Can't believe that this has been here all along and I have suffered all these years due to the medical communities bias. Thanks for this forum. Ken from Atlanta

My friend john had a massive ear wax build up problem fall of 2009. He was applying 3% peroxide for sometimes hours a day and the problem stabilized for awhile. However, now, he frequently gets a feeling that his head is boiling. When he stays in the shower for more than a minitue or two, he gets very dizzy and almost acts drunk. He has consulted a few doctors for a remedy and has had no luck. I'm afraid he might get in a car accident or worse if this continues and am asking anybody who can help to contact me at derekrfay(at)yahoo.com. Thank you!

I have faced chronic allergic rhinitis since more than 50 years now. Nothing worked (including 3 operations and plenty money wasted on all kind of especialized doctors, until I gave up and learned to live with the problem. On your site I found out abt H2O2. Curious enough decided to try my own drugstore formula reduced at 1% (2:1) in clear water. I started spraying twice every nostril, four times a day. At day #5 I started to show a mix o blood and yellowish mucus from my nose at morning time only (once). Quite an amount every day I must add. I was at first scared, yet decided to continue. It was the same cleaning routine (expelling out)for 7 days straight, then my nose came up with clean, clear mucus. No more yellowish or bloody outputs. I infer I have cleaned my sinuses completely from a fungus or bacteria that have been infecting me for decades. I have kept doing the spraying, but in leeseer frequency. I do carry my sprayer with me all day now and I think I will not stop from using it from here on. I believe it will keep me from getting sick again, no more flu, virus, rinitis, etc. I wake up now breathing freely, something I never thought possible. My snoring has been reduced or eliminated, and the only mucus I have known is clear like water. Still must keep cleaning my nostrils several times a day, but not as before and its clear. I thing if doctors are keeping this simple solution from us, they are all crooks. And I know how much money I have spent on all kind of expensive treatments, Xrays, poisons, etc. If I am doing something that may harm me, please let me know, but so far so good. I will keep going.

PS/ You may edit my poor English if you want to publish my experience.

WARNING!

On August last year 08/2008, I comment on how I used H2O2 to treat my synus problem. I would like to add a WARNING: applying the nostril spray continuously came eventually (after many weeks) to be very irritant and my mocus fluids increased, yet still clear. So I have discontinued the nasal spray that way. At least the spray got rid of my sinus infection at the beggining of the treatment, I am sure. Therefore I will recommend the nasal spray as I did only to clean yr sinus, one time, using the spray mix for only 2 to 4 weeks and stop. Now, I am taking several drops of Food Grade peroxide in fresh coconut water (abt 8 oz in a nut) daily instead, as a preventive way to help my inmune system against any potential illness. You never know!

My 14 month old son has constantly been sick and had ear infections. We have keep going to the doctor and they just kept putting him on antibiotics. It turns out that the infection never healed causing the area behind his ear to become swollen. We went to the emergency room and they just gave him another round of antibiotics. Three days later went went back into his ped and they put him on steriods for the swelling because they said it was lymph nodes. Two weeks later his ear was still swollen, red and very tender to the touch. The poor baby was just miserable so we made another appointment to go back to the ped. Since we use H2O2 for cleaning out infections and getting rid of ear wax, I put some in his ear that night, let it sit for 5 minutes and then drained it. The next morning the swelling was down by half but it was still noticably swollen. We had is ped appointment that day so we went and they referred us to a ENT and hearing Specialist. As soon as that doctor walked in the room he said he was going to have to schedule my son for surgery to put tubes in his ear. what he has is mastoiditis, an infection of the bone behind the ear. After talking for a while I told the doctor that the ear was actually getting better (I left out the H2O2 part). He gave me the option to do another round of antibiotics and see what happens but if it got worse then I had to bring him in for surgery. Of course, I opted for the antibiotics. I did a total of 5 treatments of H2O2 in his ear. I did it right before bed and when he woke up in the morning after doing a treatment his ear was less and less tender and swollen. This morning when he woke up his ear was completely back to normal. I can't believe it! My baby is happy and doesn't need tubes put into his ears anymore. Thank you God for giving us H2O2.

Just wanted to let you know that I started the H202, treatments tonight. I have been told that I have COPD. I have so many medicines around the house it is depressing. But this is about my ears. Since March I have been dealing with a hyper sensitivity to sound, smells etc. This manifested itself in the form of my entire body vibrating in response to noise. After days of the vibrating for 24 hrs a day for 6 days I was on the edge of sanity. I thought I was reacting to an external source, like a generator or something like that. I met with some friends and I was telling them about what was happening. One of them asked if I might have an inner ear infection. WOW, I never would have guess that. As it turns out, I do have an infection in the left ear canal. I was trying to find something on vibrating when I saw something on HP. I went to your site and read most of the responses. I was in such bad shape and I couldn't get in to see the doctor and no money for an emergency room visit, so, I decided to "go for it".

First I created a bowl of water, mixed 3%, over the counter peroxide in, then I used the cap to pour it up my nose. It burned since I didn't have distilled water at that time. Using the distilled water won't sting. Within 5 mins. the vibrations had stopped. I was able to breathe through my left nostril for the first time in months. Then I pored some in my left ear. I experienced vertigo, never had that before. But, it did tell me I was dealing with an ear infection. The vibrations stopped. It has been 24 hrs since I started the treatments. When the vibrating starts, I know it's time for another dose.

I also created the spray for my throat and added some to my water. It is amazing how much clearer my airways are. I can also see a very small improvement in my vision. I've been told that I need cataract surgery. Hopefully all of this will help that clear up some too. And! I have had a hugh reduction in my desire for a cigarette. I've smoked 15 cigs. today, whereas I normally smoke 2 packs. I just haven't wanted one. Amazing. I believe the infection is coming from a tooth, so I've also started rising my mouth with HP. At least it is giving me some relief until I can get to the doctor. I will continue use and I will keep you posted. I'm also passing your web address to family and friends. Hopefully they will check you out. Thank you so much for your site and I am so grateful for all the people who have taken the time to share the experiences.

I used to have dripping sinus that incapacitated me because of making me sick every year. Then I started to use food grade hydrogen peroxide and within days i quit having the usual symptoms and have been pretty much free of this plague for 20 years. My friends have had the same experince..I use about 6 to 8 drops in large glass of water.

I was recently very sick with a bad cough and phlegm in my chest area, and over night i had somehow gained an ear infection in both ears. It hurt more in my right ear than my left. I refused to try antibiotics. I put peroxide in one ear and let it stay in my ear for about 5 minutes. Then i switched, and put it in my other ear. I did this three times within 4 hours apart from each other. In the morning my ear ache was gone.
