We have been using hydrogen peroxide for years to fight off earaches and colds. My kids and I used to go to the dr. all the time for earaches and end up with a big dr. bill and antibiotics. Then we heard about peroxide. I keep the peroxide in a small glass bottle with an eyedropper. The moment anyone starts to get a sore throat or their ears hurt even a tiny bit, we put one eyedropper full in each ear. Hold the bottle in your hand to warm the peroxide a bit (otherwise it feels like ice water going in) and have the person lie flat on their side. I like to leave the peroxide in until it stops bubbling, but even a few minutes may be enough to help. Drain the peroxide out when you are done and dry the ear thoroughly. A nurse told me that the peroxide would burn a hole through the lining of the ear(Has anyone ever heard of this before?), but we have done this for almost 10 years with no problems.

12 yrs. ago I've read a book from _____ about H2O2. I was hooked. I found 35%H2O2 through mail order. I started to drink it diluted about 10 drops in a glass of 10-12 oz. I usually drink it if I had flu or bad colds. In every case the cold cleared in one day. What a blessing was that book for me. I told it to many people about my experience but they were skeptical. Make sure you follow the right amount and it should not be a problem.

I have been using the following method to treat all colds for the past 15 years, and since first trying it, use nothing else to treat colds.

I use the cap from the peroxide bottle and put 1/4 cap of peroxide the rest of the cap is filled with water dripped from the faucet.

I put a finger over one nostril and sniff the mixture up the other nostril. I repeat this with the other nostril.

One cap full (1/4 peroxide 3/4 water) usually will treat both nostrils. When the solution drains down the nostril passage to the throat, I spit it out and blow my nose.

Guess what? Instant relief then and there not ten minutes later but then and there. When you blow your nose you will be amazed at what comes out.

This is especially great for head colds, but also sore throat and stops coughing colds as well. I usually only have to do this twice at about 8 hour intervals. After that or by the next morning were talking, what cold?

I have not tried using the inhaling through the mouth method since I have discovered that the cold always appears to be in the nostril passage. Even the sore throat symptom is in the nasal passage between the nose and throat and you will feel where it is when the mixture drains down the nostril passage. If you find that a 1/4 peroxide to 3/4 water too strong, i.e., stings too much, use slightly less peroxide and more water. I sniff rather than spray the mixture as I found that spraying does not atomize and coat the entire nostril passage as well as when the mixture is sniffed.

Try it and you will also be amazed.

Re: Peroxide & Eucalyptus oil in a cool mist humidifier: My 11 year-old daughter is very resistant to trying home remedies other than the little pellets under the tongue (Boiron's products are awesome). Oscillo works AMAZINGLY well if you can take it within a few hours of the onset of flu symptoms. But, a friend told me to mix about 1 part peroxide to 3 parts water into a cool (not hot) mist humidifier and run it at night for her. It is great for breathing, though it does "highlight" the hair and eyebrows (we think it's great :o). I've used this method for years now for the whole family with great results for everything from sinus trouble to the flu. She's been antibiotic-free for about 6 years now. Very impressive for a child that was on about two to three rounds per year.

I had bad sinus infections on and off for a year; Doctor put me on 4 ot 5 different antibiotics, which helped for a while, but infection always came back after treatment finished. Went to a Natural Health doctor, who cured it with herbs and h2o2 !! Now whenever we feel colds starting we gargle with h202 and 9 out of 10 the cold never develops.

I heard many years ago that the cold/flu virus enters the body through the ears. As a healthcare professional, it seemed utterly ridiculous that anybody would be so "ignorant" as to believe this -- clearly . . . medical science has shown that viruses are typically transmitted through contact with mucous membranes (touch the door knob, pick your nose -- voila). I wasn't feeling well one day -- actually, for about two or three days, and I decided -- what the heck, I'll pour some peroxide in my ears, and see what happens. I swear, on all that is holy -- I did this twice a day for two days, and when I woke the third morning, I felt SO much better! I don't know if the peroxide CURED me or not, but -- my cold was gone -- so, I don't care.

I have been using the h2o2 drops in my ears for 2 years now. Since that time I have been cold and flu free. I used to get them 2x a year plus terrible sinus infections. What a relief! I share it with everyone, even total strangers in stores if I see they have a cold.

I have found that peroxide in the ear can stop a cold even after it starts. I lucked up when doing this method, I didn't know about these home remedies then, I was just off from work because I was sick and decided to clean out my ears because I had extra time. Gargling might help to break up irritation and mucus in the throat. I say this because my ears nose and mouth don't seem to be as closed off from on another as the average person. After adding peroxide in my ears, I immediately tasted it in my mouth (really in the back of my throat). It felt like I needed to belch, and when I did, all the stuff in my throat came up. It was weird for me but it does seem to break up and stop symptoms of colds.

I gargled with a capful of hydrogen peroxide mixed into 1/4 cup of water and also swished it around my mouth and the next morning my cold was gone.

I used the hydrogen peroxide in the ears at the first sign of a runny nose and sore throat. A half an hour later I felt great and I still feel great today.

Yes, it works! I felt the usual symptoms of a cold last week - low energy, swollen lymphs, etc. and promptly added hydrogen peroxide to each ear for about a minute. I felt better immediately and never got the cold.
