Sinus Infection

I've been dealing with allergies and poor sinuses since 2005. The nasal dryness was as bad as it gets, I was miserable day in and out. I've seen numerous doctors, allergy specialists, ENT doctors and on and on. I was constantly sick..........my latest MRI of my sinus cavities showed an infection deep down at the bottom of the sinuses, which was worse at night and while laying down.

About a week ago I was reading about the benefits of coconut oil and decided to take a few drops and put it deep into my nostrils. I also mix a bit in my netti pot with warm water.

So, I'm using steam, coconut oil drops and the netti pot with warm water and some oil. The improvement has been nothing short of amazing. I even cancelled a doctor appointment I had scheduled for tomorrow.

I'm a new guy of late, my mood is a lot better, and I'm not obsessing over my nasal issues any more. I strongly recommend everyone try this remedy, it's been nothing short of amazing.

Blood Pressure

I think it's more complicated than using/not using coconut oil. Your medication increases potassium. If you eat foods with lots of potassium it may cause an imbalance. Too much salt or too much potassium could have you swinging with your BP, same with cholesterol, as you have noticed. https://www.getroman.com/health-guide/losartan-and-bananas/ Since medication is more powerful than food the BP pendulum will swing much further than with just food. Then the type of coconut oil you use is important. "Although heated coconut oil and indeed lots of other oil has been found to increase the level of blood pressure, virgin coconut oil, however, has been found to effectively lower the level of cholesterol, which is a risk factor to high blood pressure." https://www.greenworldfriends.com/coconut-oil-and-high-blood-pressure-does-coconut-oil-help/ Personally, I just use a good olive oil and occasionally a little Kerry butter, and only lean poultry, fish. I had dropped coconut oil just because it didn't go well with what I cooked. Of course, you have to have a good diet, with lots of vegetables and some fruit. So far, my BP has been good lately and refused meds when it was somewhat high a few years ago.

Reading all the reviews re: coconut oil---I buy it in 54 oz jars from Sam's Club--use it every day. In my coffee, on my skin, cooking-it goes on and on.

I feel I have more energy taking a tablespoon day, also give it to my dogs in their food, they love it.

I'm 84 and get compliments on my skin-when I tell them my age they say "no way, I thought you were in your 60's". I don't use expensive face creams-just VCO. When I have a pain in my neck or shoulders---I get the coconut oil and rub it on.

I love the smell, the taste and the benefits.

Also last night as my cat was sitting on the ledge over the sink- I dipped the spoon in the jar and put a little on it to see if he liked it. He ate it right up-so this morning I gave him some more. I'm hoping it helps his coat with all the scratching he does, as he does have fleas. I also have flea traps plugged in 24/7 all year round and it keeps them at bay...

Back off the coconut oil. 1-2 TABLEspoons per day? Plus using it every other way you can think of? When many get excellent results with various issues using 1 TEAspoon per day? Did it never occur to you to simply take less? Slow down the toxin dumping a bit? Give your liver a little love and some nutrients before you try to drown it in the overabundance of garbage it's probably been trying to neutralize and/or lock away your whole life. Crikeys!!

Pure coconut oil which we extracted at home provides nice aroma for kerala dishes. It won't increase cholestrol. It helps me in reducing the hair fall and the dry skin problems.

Hi Alicia: regarding hot flashes: hibiscus tea, you can use hot or cold water. Works very quickly.

wrinkles: 1 tsp castor oil in your hand, then add one drop of rosemary essential oil and rub it on your face gently. Then rub what's left on your fingers on your scalp. This is working for me. Twice a day and marionette lines on the mouth area are smoothing out after about 4 days.

I have had a thyroid problem for 9 years and before that I never ate sweet things. I became a sugar junkie and could not control my sugar cravings. Since discovering coconut oil I don't have the overwhelming urge to eat sugar and have much more energy. I also have lost some weight and feel so much better. I eat 2-3 dessert spoons of coconut oil and use it for my face and body. I have smooth beautiful skin and its so much cheaper than all those expensive products I use to buy. Thank you Earth Clinic for another amazing discovery.

I have been using this miracle food for a month or so now, and it has benefitted me in ways that I can't fathom would be possible with any other store-bought stuff, such as lotion. In the Winter, my hands crack and get very dry and have broken skin spots all over my palms. Since I've been using coconut oil in my hair as a natural gel, a face moisturizer, chap stick, and lotion, just having the oil on my hands has made perfectly soft and healthy and crack-free.

I use the oil to make a toothpaste and natural deodorant, which works wonders. I also have been losing much bad weight by taking a tablespoon of it daily by mouth. I've been cooking with it, and let me say, it seems to bring out the flavor in my food, rather make it taste oily and greasy like other cooking oils. My partner has been taking the oil by mouth each day also, and it has cured his gingivitis completely. The oil is a godsend, truly. I find that it has boosted my immune system, also.

I have "accidentally" found 2 cures using Coconut Oil. The first was when I had a terrible case of bacterial vaginosis. Every over the counter remedy I tried did not work and I was going on one month of having this infection, trying different medications and finally before I decided to go to the doctor to get a prescription, I tried some coconut oil in place of the other medicines, and the next day it was gone.

The 2nd instance of a cure was for my minor hemorrhoids, which are an occasional reminder of being in labor for 12 hours. Usually a little Preparation H will take care of it, but the most recent incident, the Preparation H was working only slightly, and this went on for almost 2 weeks. Usually this medicine works in a few days and it's gone but not this time. So I thought "what the heck" and tried some coconut oil on the hemorrhoid, and it was gone by the next morning... AMAZING!

Organic Virgin Coconut Oil for bursitis, joint pain.

I'm 36 yrs old and for 3 yrs I have bursitis on the should area and pain in my wrist. I decided after reading on earthclinic to give VCO a try. In one week I noticed the pain went away and I have more energy. It really really WORKS!

I take a 1 Tablespoon/day. Put in coffee, spread it on toast instead of butter, put some in my soup, add to my pasta sauce. I love the smell. I even use it as a cold cream to clean my face at night. I even give VCO to my dogs and cats and their coats are shiny and soft! I will continue to take this the rest of my life. I love VCO! Thank you earthclinic.

I have been taking coconut oil for the last 2 weeks 1 teaspoon every morning and also cooking with it. Today, (this may sound gross)I had a pain in my back just around the rectum and after using the toilet I looked and found a dead worm in the toilet. YUK! I can't believe that came from me. So it must be killing off the parasites I have. Hopefully it gets them all.

I've been detoxing for a few months, I added the two tablespoons of coconut oil to my detoxing program, in addition to raw plant aloe and have also seen more liver flukes and tape worms! This combination seems to be working better than any I've tried!

Hypothyroidism

Mmsg, as usual, you gave our friend Namaw good advice. There is a second way and that is to spray your body down with MgCl about 20 minutes prior to a shower. You really can do this even without a shower. You can do this on your arms and legs anytime.

The guy who told me about this had AFIB and this technique helped his situation.

Dear Namaw,

I have been thinking about your cramping issue and the need to not have things that irritate your ibs.

I know you have tried many things, but have you tried a banana before bed at night? My husband used to take banana before bed to ward off cramps if he had been sweating a lot in the day. I also give banana to kids who are cramping from dehydration with a stomach virus. Bananas tend to have a binding effect, for most people that is...

Have you tried turmeric? I do not see it listed on the cramp page as a remedy, but perhaps it hasn't been tried. According to my Nutritional Herbology book, turmeric is high in potassium and magnesium, both good for cramps. And turmeric is a great diarrhea remedy. A typical dose would be 1 teaspoon in water or milk or yogurt or whatever. Some people take that even 2-3 times each day for different ailments.

Also, red raspberry leaf is high in magnesium and potassium and also a anti-diarrhea herb. You would want to make a strong tea of it, taken at bedtime or in the evening.

Just a few thoughts...

I take 3 teaspoons of coconut oil a day, 1 teaspoon before each meal. I notice that it lowers cholesterol. Also, I have less headaches and feel awesome. I have also lost 20 pounds taking the coconut oil. Guess what - I still eat what I want! I haven't changed any eating habits. I also drink 6 to 8 glasses of water. I also use this as a hair care product on my scalp. I used to have two bald spots that have been growing like crazy. I have tried everything on my bald spots and nothing has worked but coconut oil. Extra virgin coconut oil is a blessing in my life.

My thyroid level was low. The doctor said I must go on thyroid prescription. I said give me a few months to try virgin organic coconut oil. I took 3 to 4 tablespoons daily in smoothies or melted on salad or just ate it. (It looks like crisco, which worried me, but I was determined not to have a lifelong prescrip.) At the next blood test in 4 months my thyroid function was "excellent" and to top it off my cholesterol had dropped the bad level and raised the good level. The docotor was pleased. I needed no prescription. I did gain 2 pounds, but considering how much oil I ate and for how long it was not an issue.

I see a lot of people still preaching sun avoidance. If you will only think about it, you will realize nothing could be more unnatural than avoiding the sun. The most important thing is to moisturize with a good plant based oil. I use EVOO, and though it takes considerably longer than more popular oils to absorb, once absorbed it does a much better job healing. Conventional wisdom says there is no such thing as a protective base tan. Reality shows there is.You do need to build up slowly, but a half hour a day of full body exposure is really quite minimal, and will pay benefits in terms of natural Vitamin D production. Don't hide from the sun, you will make yourself sick. Use moderation, and moisturize, and you will be much happier and healthier.

Of all of the remedies/cures I've tried on this board my ALL-TIME favorite is Coconut Oil, prefer Barlean's but also have used Garden of Life's version. Why? Because ever since I started using it on my hair it's become silky smooth without being greasy. It has made my once dry, unruly curly hair extremely manageable. Nothing has worked on my hair like coconut oil and I've tried every brand of conditioner known to man to make my hair manageable. Also, it's a great moisturizer on your face, especially if you live in a harsh climate like I do in the Midwest. I use it in the morning and at night. Also, I use it on my legs. It has reduced the dermatitis and itching I get in the winter. So definitely go to the health food store and buy this product, it's definitely worth it!

I also felt a difference from taking EVCO in not being so cold all the time. Others that I work with would ask me if I was cold because the thermostat was set too low and they were cold. I thought that was unusual because I was the one who was always cold. I was taking about a teaspoon with my oatmeat every morning. One side effect from this was that by the end of the week I was sooo tired, like I feel when I am coming down with something. I didn't feel like doing my aerobics or walk the dog for 30-40minutes as I had in the past. So now I use it occasionally 2 or 3 times a week and even less depending on how I feel. But, I do use it as an under arm deodorant and on my feet. There is NO odor from my armpits even when doing aerobics. Apply enough of the oil so the skin around the armpit area is well covered. The coconut smell goes away after an hr. or two.

HIV

While the word cure is a very final type of word, I would like to say that Coconut oil has been a welcome remedy in my life for the HIV virus. More and more information is becoming available about how the monolaurin and lauric acid in organic virgin coconut oil does its work to literally kill lipid-coated viruses such as HIV. I have been taking VCO off and on and have seen my viral load of 1100 (when 1st diagnosed) digress to 570 6 months later. I will be having another test shortly. My doctor said it was unusual for the virus to digress without medication, letting it not progress is one thing, to have it go backwards is another. Coconut oil remedies so many other ailments too, my skin feels amazing and its the only thing I use on my skin. You shouldn't put on your skin something you wouldn't ingest. Your skin is your biggest organ. I am a loyal user of this product and grateful to hear it endorsed by people like Gary Null.
