I have been using coconut oil for dry skin and it has helped tremendously. I have done away with all other creams and use nothing but that as well as cooking with it and mixing it in my food. I have had none of the diarrhea problems that I have heard of others having.

May be you are not aware of use(or manufacturing process) of Virgin Coconut oil, which is far good compare to ordinary coconut oil. The difference is the manufacturing process where virgin coconut oil is produced without adding any chemical or sun dried process on the other hand ordinary coconut has everything(Chemical). Try using the virgin coconut oil and see the difference. Even some Indian company claiming that they produced the virgin coconut oil in 60 minutes with cold processing.
Energy Booster

I started using coconut oil 5 days ago - because I heard that it helps you to lose weight. I've not really tracked my weight so far, but I can say, hand on heart, that I have suddenly found a load more energy from somewhere. My 3 year old still wakes me up through the night and some evenings it was as much as I could do to just sit in the chair watching TV or playing with my computer. I now feel energized enough to WANT to wash up etc.. I have noticed that I need to use the bathroom a lot more (maybe having 4-6 number "2s" during the day - which is highly unusual as normally it's 1-2 every other day) -and I've developed an incredible wind problem in the evening. I normally take 1 tablespoon first thing in the morning with my smoothie and it instantly wakes me up. Tonight for the first time I've taken another tablespoon so I'll see how I get on. Can't say I like the taste of it straight out of the jar - it made me feel sick the first day - but can't taste it in the smoothies. I used Holland & Barratt - which costs. c£9.95 but have no idea if its cold pressed/virgin etc..

Coconut Oil has been in my kitchen for about two years. I use it for cooking anything that requires oil. I also use it daily on my skin and it is a wonder for the winter dryness. I use it as a replacement for butter on my toast and internal. It lubricates from the inside out and the outside in.

Dry skin be gone!! I love this site, and I love testimonials. i am a sucker for them, for better or worse, and have bought many a useless thing based on them. But I am SO SO SO happy to say that this time it actually came true for me! After reading all the great stuff on the site, I bought some Virgin coconut oil. I have fairly dry skin (and always issues with acne and hating my skin) and I have religiously applied a good, natural vitamin A and E lotion everyday after showers for a long time, etc. do all the "lock in moisture" tips... but I still had dry skin, also felt tight no matter what, never that dewy, glowing thing you hear about all the time from really expensive lotions and creams. oh my god thank god for coconut oil!! i am in love with it. I have used it maybe 3 or 4 days now, all over my body and any flakiness is GONE. gone!! yay! my hands are very dry because I work with them, but when I take the time to rub in the oil it keeps it from cracking at least. I know if I am more diligent I might actually feel like I don't' have man hands! ha. The best thing is when I used it for a stir fry! holy cow, in love all over again. I mean, I really do feel like I glow like an 'island beauty' when I put it on, it melts so nicely and thin and silky on body temperature, and I am a redhead so anything that helps me feeling smooth and less mottled is a godsend. honestly, i am silk, not grease. even when it goes on it's not like oil, it's bliss. I'm a little overwhelmed with how/if to take it internally, along with all the ACV, molasses, hydrogen peroxide stuff... i don't' want to bombard my body.. Any suggestions on how to prioritize which of these I ingest/get in a good steady routine? Or if it's harmful to be eating coconut oil AND all this other stuff? is it too much? regardless, for dry skin coconut oil is THE WAY TO GO. hands down. OH! also feels so so nice on my face. I was worried I'd break out but so far so good. I actually, finally (sob) feel RIGHT in my skin. hasn't been so for a long time. my face actually feels lubricated, I have been stunned the past night or two that I put it on my face to realize that it feels healthy from the inside, which is literally unreal and a blessing. my self image has improved from outside, inside out! Not too be too dramatic, but I really finally feel like I can say I'm a beautiful woman, because my skin FEELS fresh, healthy and also looks it. thank you!!!
Multiple Cures
I've been reading on the mutiple cures of coconut oil. I recently bought some but, my question is should the oil be in liquid form or paste form?
Multiple Cures
Hi Sergio, it depends on room temperature. Right now it's winter where I live to it is in solid/pasty form. But during the summer is always liquid.

I have been using topical prescription acne meds for 2 years and have done pretty well. This winter I have had a terrible time with dry skin and acne. I have tried exfoliators and lots of moisturizer to relieve the dry skin flakes and have seen no improvement. Just more pimples and flakes. One morning I woke up with a large rash on my neck where I had used an exfoliator. That night I started using coconut oil on my face and neck. (not virgin, Spectrum brand refined) My neck looked much better the next day and I did not wake up with any new pimples which I was very surprised. It was scary putting something so oily on my face! My large pimples under my neck went away in 3 days. My flaky skin was gone in one day. My skin looks great, soon I will try the virgin coconut oil for my face and to include in my diet. This is the first time I have ever been able to say that something natural and possibly a fad REALLY worked for me.

My co-worker introduced me to Coconut Oil. I suffer from dry skin and Thyroid problems. I must admit it has made a major difference in my life! I take it orally every morning and I have noticed a healthy, glowing complexion on my face. I also use it on my skin and I cook with it as well. My overall feeling of using CO is very good because I believe that I've felt healthier since taking it!

I began using coconut oil on my hair and body and it is awesome. My skin is so soft. After I take my ACV bath or spray my body down with ACV after a shower, I wait until I am completely dry and rub my body down with the coconut oil. It is so good to my skin I can't help but to rub my own face and body! I began putting it around my dry cuticles; letting the oil soak in and can you believe my cuticle look awesome. I put it on my lips and let the oils soak in to make my lips softer. I don't need chap stick. I have coconut oil. I use a little on my hair and oil my scalp with it. I am going to experiment with taking it internally. I have read the comments about taking to much so I am going to start off slow. Natural products are awesome. Why don't we use what God intended! Nature! Vegetation & herbs! I love nature!

I ingest pure virgin coconut oil twice per day. I used to have dry scaly skin. I tried the most expensive lotion brands: Loccitane, Origins, Bath & Body Works -- but nothing made my skin shiny and smooth. After two weeks of ingesting coconut oil and using externally my skin began to shine! My boyfriend couldn't stop touching me and everyone thought I was pregnant because my skin glowed. I am an African-American so we notoriously suffer from dry skin but now I have beautiful skin and because I live in Thailand I have access to some of the best oil around at good prices. The only mild reactions I had was gas which I took gas pills for.

To make coconut oil, after the milk has been squeezed out from the freshly grated coconut to which water is added to obtain milk, you let it set over night, the fat /cream will rise to the top, this is skimmed off leaving the water residue. The fat is placed in to a heavy duty pot onto a lighted stove where the remaining water evaporates and the oil deposits remain along with the curds. As soon as the curds start to get to a brownish colour your oil is done if not care full at this stage it will start to burn. Be careful this is extremely hot. Set aside to cool and strain throwing away the crisp curds. It won't be rancid either. Good luck.

I take VCO for my candidas, eczema, puffiness. Actually when i consume them, i felt better. But vco at my place, local supplier has phased out the order. and to buy on line, they are so expensive. so following some comments here, i'm trying to do my own at home. but leaving the coconut milk aside till the next day for the separation between oil and water, it turned sour - rancid.. what should i do? thank you.
Has anyone else tried to make the cold pressed coconut oil at home? Did the coconut milk turn rancid the next day or did you get the fresh coconut oil out of it? Or as another reader had commented, the milk cream settled on top instead of the oil? I am considering trying to make little coconut oil at home and answers to these questions would be very helpful to begin with. If anyone else has any proven recipe for cold pressed coconut oil, I would appreciate if you can please post it here. Thank you.

Make Your Own Coconut Oil
Thank you thank you!! Strange, I make lots of things such as jam, cordials, chutneys and so on, but never thought of making my own coconut oil. I live in turkey since a few years back, and can't find it anywhere. Now I can alternate with the the sunflower oil that I normally use for oil pulling. I tried EVO but though I love olive oil, I just couldn't oil pull with it... Once again thank you, and thank you for a wonderful site!

Coconut oil has a lot of things for good, you can use it on your hair as a conditioner or use it as lotion on your skin. While, coconut Milk is good for cooking, we usually used it for cooking vegetables or meat for our meals. It's so delicious everybody loves it.

First, I would like to clarify what is the difference between Coconut oil and the Virgin coconut oil (VCO). Philippines national tree is the coconut tree, and coconut oil has been used by our people since time in memorial. anyway, coconut oil is being used for cooking alone. then there is another kind of coconut oil that is being cooked in our own kitchen that produces brown color, this oil is good for the skin and hair. Believe me i've been using this from child and i have the shiniest hair ever. Now, there's another coconut oil which is called Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). The oil was extracted from coconut thru cold pressed. the opposite of the second coconut oil i mentioned. now, this oil can be drunk and applied on hair and skin. I used both the 2nd and 3rd coconut oil for my skin alternately. I always have insect bites that leaves ugly scars, and coconut oil heals it and the ugly scars will be gone. I also use this as my moisturizer. There are researches about coconut oil (VCO) ... it was said that coconut oil can cure cancer but i am not sure if this is already proven. I can say that Philippines produces the best coconut oil products. I guess, this is one of our secrets why we have beautiful and younger looking skin and very shiny hair :) by the way, since coconut oil solidifies during cold weather, we now have coconut oil in capsules.. just an FYI.
i have a coconut oil that say 100% pure ingredients: coconut oil (anti-oxidant tbhg 0.01%) what does that mean? i assume that this should be better than or is the same as extra virgin coconut oil? I just took a teaspoon tonight 4 the first time. Did i take the correct one or did i take cooking oil?

It should say Organic Virgin Coconut Oil... Unrefined Cold or Expeller Pressed is good.
At room temperature it should be solid and completely white with no dark coloration at all. It will start to liquify at 76 degrees or more. For this reason, the oil will come in a jar with a wide mouth lid for scooping out.
Regardless of what you get... do not get refined, bleached, deodorized (RBD) oil. Any oil for that matter.

What is the brand name of the coconut oil tablet / where can I buy it.
I understand coconut oil can cure prostate cancer - I want to give this a shot.
EC: Try your local health food store (most carry many brands of coconut oil, including coconut oil capsules). Or try online at Amazon.

I consumed 1 tablespoon of Extra Virgin Coconut oil before each meal, and if I skipped a meal, I would still take the 1 tablespoon of Virgin Coconut oil. My problem was my left hip would have a popping type of action every time I rotated my leg out away from my body, same sound as if you were cracking your knuckles, after 1 week of using the Virgin Coconut oil, and now my hip no longer makes any popping sound. Still taking it to see about the weight loss benefits. Now on week 3.
Mono
★★★★★
I have been taking coconut oil for five or six years now. About five years ago, my daughter, who was in college at the time, came down with mononucleosis. I overnighted her a bottle of monolaurin, the main ingredient of lauric acid, which is only found in any quantity in coconut oil and human milk. My daughter was diagnosed on a Tuesday, she got the monolaurin on Wednesday and on Friday, nine days later she had no symptoms and quit taking it. The following Monday (that's 13 days post diagnosis) she had lab work done and was completely normal. Other dorm-mates of hers had mono for months. Coconut oil, lauric acid and monolaurin supposedly lise the lipid envelopes of lipid viruses and bacteria.
Most colds are caused by lipid enveloped viruses as are a number of major viral infections.
Just last Saturday, a friend of mine called to tell me he had a horrible cold and had made an appointment to see and ENT physician on Monday. I told him to take three tablespoons of coconut oil. When I saw him on Monday, he was obviously fine. He told me he had taken two tablespoons on Saturday and Sunday and was fine on Monday so he cancelled his doctor's appointment.
I take it all the time but every now and then I run out. Usually I will get sick when I do. Then I go get some more. It is particularly effective for sinus infections. I just snort some into my sinus cavities. Most people are amazed when I prescribe it and it works. But I have seen it happen so many times now, I just expect it to work.

I used to have very dry skin, I'd have to put on lotion a couple times a day in the winter to feel "normal." I also used department store facial creams. I now use coconut oil for my body and face. I can't rave enough about the results. A person in Fruitful Yield gave the me the suggestion for my daughter and then told me that she uses it on her face as a cream. I thought it was worth a try.
