I had vaginal/vulva soreness for over 8 months. I wasn't experiencing any odors or discharge and no burning when urinating.

The doctor prescribed Lamisil: ectosone1% which helped to reduce the swelling but not the burning sensation.

I went back to the doctors, did a few test but everything came back normal. After months of suffering and trying different things I ruled out most possibilities, except that I had yeast infection. Even though the normal symptoms of a yeast infection were not there, I decided to do a treatment anyway.

I went to the pharmacy and purchased fluconazole, (one time oral pill) Monistat single insertion with antifungal cream 2%.

I took the pill and did the treatment overnight, and used the cream on the outer part of the vulva. It took two days for me to notice the difference and about 5 days of apply the cream for the burning to stop. Now the burning and swelling have gone and everything is back to normal and it been about a month since I did it. I also started taking Acidophilus daily to keep the yeast under control.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Yvonne

I was so excited to come across this site when I was looking for alternative cures for a YI. Sadly, the ACV did not work at all. My symptoms have progressed into a full blown YI, so I had to give in and buy Monistat. I tried the ACV spritz, and the bath along with acidophilus pills when the symptoms started. Now I'm in for the long haul. I wish you all luck out there. YI's are not fun at all :(

Garlic

First I'd like to thank all who have posted their experiences here. It's good to know you're not alone and that there are alternatives to pharma chemicals.

I've been experiencing symptoms over the last few weeks and when I was first sure I had a yeast infection (I haven't had one in 15 years! ) I went w/ Monistat. It seemed to work, but 1. 5-2 weeks later, whammo, it's back. Which brought me here. I tried the garlic - it gave me relief from the itching and burning within an hour. I did the clove in the vagina over night and was sure that it worked, so I only did it the one night. Several days later, back to square one. I did some more reading and found that I should probably do it for 5-7 days. OK. Again, it seemed to have immediate positive effects, but after 3 days, I was swollen, sore and just as yeast-y as before. Sigh.

Onto the hydrogen peroxide. I'm on the 3rd day of this. I've douched 4x, also soaking the lips and external areas, and used a soaked tampon overnight 2x. Finally after 3 days, the swelling and soreness have gone way down. But not gone yet. It didn't helped the external itching and burning at all. I made up some garlic oil (mashed up garlic w/ EVOO heated lightly in the microwave) which I re-apply liberally after I pee. That provides relief.

I'm going to add organic coconut oil to the regime (I have to go get some) taking it internally and applying externally instead of the garlic oil. It's supposed to kill the yeast very effectively. I'll also make sure my guy uses the oil for the next week or so just in case there's a possibility we've been passing it back and forth.

Sandy,

Have you tried to do any detoxing or healing diets to help to heal your diabetes and maybe the issues with yeast? I know there are several. I am currently on GAPS but I have read about a lot such as the anti-candida diets, FODMAPS, Body Ecology and SCD. You may want to check them out and see if one calls to you. I know on the GAPS diet the idea is that a lot of people suffer from leaky gut syndrome which can lead to things like allergies, systemic yeast, diabetes, depression, autism and even schizophrenia. I have been on GAPS for about 8 months and have not concurred the yeast issue yet but have seen a great improvement in my health. I follow it exactly except do not eat any of the fruit, honey or maple syrup. I actually had a urine test today and for the first time ever they didn't find any white cells in my urine which never happens. There are always white blood cells in my urine which means to me there has been some kind of inflammation in my urinary tract for years. My boyfriend is also diabetic and I believe he suffers from leaky gut. He had colic as a baby which is a red flag, his mom suffered from yeast infections...anther red flag, and he craves things like chocolate, cakes, cookies and generally anything that will feed the bad stuff inside us. I'm sure he has yeast issues too.

I hope this helps some and may help to heal the root cause instead of the symptoms.

Wow! I got my first ever yeast infection and was MISERABLE!! I couldn't stop itching, and it made it worse. I was reluctant to go to the doctors and didn't want to spend 20 bucks on some monistat, feeling like I wanted to die, I began researching my symptoms and came across this. I went to the store and bought plain yogurt, apple cidar vinegar, peroxide and an anti-itch cream. I began bathing in just a little water and squirting myself with ACV and soaking in it ( which it BURNED like I have NEVER felt) drinking a little dilluted with water, forcing plain yogurt down my throat and using peroxide once I was finished with the ACV. It seemed to take a day before I really noticed that I was feeling better, by day two I knew I was healing and today I felt almost normal. Going to go do my ACV bath before bed and hope I wake up with no signs of a YI. Not sure which one of these remedies helped most, but something sure did!!

Be sure to have your boyfriend go to the doctor to get treated for Yeast infection. Guys can get it from you and you get treated. But after, your treated you have relations, he will give you back your yeast infection. Doctors can and do give men the same pill we take for yeast infections.

I had sex May 25 2011. My period was due 2 days later. I got it and lasted about 4 days which is normal for me.. I've been taking birth control a year now. About 2 days after my period I got a yeast infection. I've never had one before. I also picked up sented tampons by mistake and used 3 or 4 of those. My lower abdomen also was sore.. Hurting off in on. I got monistat 3 day and after the first night I was feeling better. I finished the 3 day and seemed fine. About 3 weeks later I started feeling like I was having another yeast infection.. Same signs so I've started 7 day Monistat. Today will be the seventh day using it.

I feel much better occational abdominal aches and just a little itching right after I pee sometimes. Also it only burned when I peed the first time I had the yeast infection and it was only for a day. I was just itchy and a lot of thick cottage cheese like discharge that was sometime watery and I was just unconfortable. I get worried about everything.. I do remember when I was trying to figure out what was wrong I looked stuff up and got really freaked out when I saw stuff about HIV and other STD's.. I started checking my neck lmyph nodes and I remember thinking they felt funky. Does this seem like just a yeast infection?? I'm really scared. This doesn't seem like HIV.. Does it?

Hi I totally feel your pain. I have been going through the same thing. I was tested 3 different and by the grace of God they all came back negative BUT I still cannot figure out what is causing my yeast infections as they are painfully annoying. I wish you luck. Take care.

Tea Tree Oil
Posted by Ferry (Semarang, Central Java) on 07/07/2011

For those who have a yeast infection, one thing that you desire to think about doing is applying tea tree oil like a home cure. Individuals who use tea tree oil know the advantages of it and just how fast it really works. It does not take enough time to complete if you wish to check it out.

Obtain a tampon, and lube jelly. Make certain that you simply place the jelly on top 1 / 2 of the tampon. Once you have place the jelly on top half, put a couple of drops from the oil onto it. You will simply require a couple of drops. Once you have completed individuals steps, just place it within your vagina. It sometimes might sting therefore it is best utilizing a applicator tampon to assist avoid the sting.

Without having lube, you are able to change it with using essential olive oil. You simply perform the same factor you'd do using the lube jelly. Many people opt for essential olive oil rather because they do not desire to use the lube. Each one works every bit as good because the other.

By doing this is not so popular yet and you might like to engage with your doctor first prior to trying the tea tree oil method. It's assisted many people and for certain, it's cured people whether they have had candida albicans.

If you're on other medicines or if you work with other creams, this kind of treatment methods are not for you personally. Don't mix creams together and add the tea tree oil in addition. It may be very harmful. Make use of the oil treatment only alone and never along with other medicines.

Sun Dry Laundry
Posted by Dulcinea (La Mancha, Spain) on 07/02/2011

For about three miserable years I had a yeast infection, but one month after moving into a new apartment, the infection was gone. I believe it is because I am now able to dry my laundry outdoors in plenty of sunshine. It seems that even though I always wash undergarments in the hottest water possible, my underwear was reinfecting me with yeast! My mom is a retired nurse and has always said that the sun is an excellent sanitizer. She suggests that ironing one's undergarments with a very hot iron might be another way to kill residual yeast if you don't have a sunny place for drying clothes.

Question:

Regarding garlic suppositories for Yeast infections, has anyone with a gastro-intestinal problem with Garlic tried this adversely?

Garlic makes me VERY sick if I ingest it. And it triggers migraines if I smell it. I get tired of explaining this so I just tell people that I am allergic. Does anyone have info about whether the suppository treatment for yeast infection will cause side effects or adverse symptoms?

I have been a EC fan for years. As I age and hormones changes so does the V-jay jay flora. Im sure most women go through the same thing. At 45 I have learned a few things. Diet is important to keep things in order. Also being clean as I have started sweating more as I get older.

I got some burning and itching a few days ago and it was getting annoying. Tried a bit of yeast cream with no response. Did an ACV and luke warm water douche last night and am fine now. Will do a couple more just for good measure but I have no burning now at all. TY EC.

I was suffering from a Yeast Infection for several days just recently (along with a bladder infection, which I quickly cured with Ted's Sea Salt remedy - Thank you, Ted! ), and at my husband's suggestion I tried Colloidal Silver. All I did was take 2 oz. about 4 times a day and in 2 days it was GONE. For good measure I continued to take 2 oz. Twice per day for a few more days. I haven't had any silver for about a week now, and everything is back to normal. I have tried all of the pills and creams that the Dr.s have recommended in the past, to no avail, either they simply didn't work, or caused other problems and STILL didn't work. I am SO RELIEVED to have found this remedy!

I am hoping someone can clear something up for me. I have read numerous posts here about yeast infections and 'cures'. I thought that a yeast infection (vaginal or not) was a systemic issue and something that takes a long while to get rid of. Most of the U. S. population has yeast issues simply due to the sugar that is abundant in EVERYTHING we eat, right? So does the Apple Cider Vinegar that you all talk about cure the systemic problem or is it for "localized" yeast infections?? Please help I need clarification so I know if this protocal is going to help since I have no symptoms of vaginal yeast-but certainty of systemic yeast infection...thanks

Thank you so much earthclinic.

Has anyone tried using garlic capsules? And does it have the same effect as a raw garlic clove? I take aged garlic extract capsules daily and was just wondering if I could insert one vaginally as well.. Thank you all for your feed back!!

I started taking baking soda and lime/lemon for yeast treatment in early November 2010. Once in the morning and once at night. Today, I participated in a health screening and my blood pressure has elevated from 120/80 to 162/85. Could the sodium in the baking soda cause this elevation after two months?

The first time that I'd ever gotten a yeast infection it was a result of antibiotics. Ouch. It seems that I've battled them ever since. My vaginal discharge used to be clear and now even when there is no itching or burning it is whitish. I will try the plain yogurt overnight. I also noticed that I usually use a fake sugar with my coffee in the mornings. The past two weeks we've been out of fake sugar so I used real sugar. BIG mistake, turns out high blood sugar increases the amount of sugar that is in the vaginal fluid... Now the yeast is feeding off of that sugar and the infection is so bad that it's all up around my anus. I've douched with vinegar and it was clear discharge for the first time since the car accident. But the yeast came back with a vengance. So I bought Vagisil which only treats the symptoms and not the cause. I didn't have enough money to get monestat!

Tonight I shall get some plain unsweetened unflavored yogurt and insert it. I've been eating it but cannot consume the plain stuff, Azo Yeast Tablets were working great. But the discharge wasn't clear and sometimes they'd make me throw up! I believe that all of these symptoms are pointing to pre diabetes. (I'm 25 and experiencing numbness and vericose veins in my legs too)Type 2 runs in my family and I'd like to get checked. Type 2 is resolvable through diet and excercise. I've eliminated a lot of my real sugar intake and switched to organic when possible (health food stores don't take food stamps! ) but I may have to cut the sugar out completely if the test comes back positive. No exceptions ever. Please ladies, if you battle with yeast infections make sure to eliminate diabetes as a cause as diabetes does worse things to a body than making your vag an ideal sugary environment for growing candida. I will be sure to read the labels on the foods I buy more carefully now. No Autolyzed Yeast in my diet either!!!

Acidophilus, Vitamin E, Folic Acid
Posted by Violet (Chino, California) on 01/04/2011

Acidophilus, vitamin E, and folic acid. I have something similar to you, Sharon from San Antonio, Tx. I have had what I perceive as burning and hotness in vagina. As I have advanced in years and after menopause I find that dryness, burning and felling of hotness in vagina has increase, becoming really bad during intercourse. I have had many infections but I never consider this to be an infection. I would like to take the combination of Acidophilus, vitamin e, and folic acid to at least try to help myself. Could you tell me the quantity of acidophilus that you use. I already have the vitamin e and folic acid. I would appreciate it. Thank you

Sharon I thought you're story was inspirational, thanks for sharing. I have a question tho. Is it 400 mg or 400 mcg folic acid? I am using 5mg folic acid once a day along with 400 IU Vit E once a day. [I haven't added the acidophilus as yet. ] But is there anything wrong if I take this strength of folic acid for this condition. Will it work just the same? I couldn't find the 400 mg in the pharmacy.

Thanks

sharon, I just wanna ask when do you take the acidophilus pill, vit. E and folic acid during the day? is it an hour before breakfast or right after breakfast? do you take the 3 immediately before going to bed? is it necessary to refrigerate the acidophilus pills right after opening? I took the pills last march, but did not refrigerate it. I thot I was cured but now the yeast is back, maybe it had less effect as I did not refrigerate it. Im going to try the other vit. 3 and folic acid together with the acidophilus as you have tried..

hope you reply on this sharon.

thank you.
