Apple Cider Vinegar, Salt, Castor Oil

So after extensive research and a come and go yeast infection everytime I have sex, I decided to try te ACV. I had bought Mon 7 but I am going on a trip with my boyfriend in a few days and "ain't nobody got time for dat"! So, I used the Mon 7 for 2 days. But on the third day I wasnt seeing any progresss so I put 2 cups Organic ACV and 1 cup of Iodized Salt in a bathub with just enough water to cover my legs. I soaked in this for about 20 mins, and douched with the water while I sat there. I then applied ACV and Jamaican Castor Oil directly onto my vagina as I still had some itching/irritation. Then I drank a glass of water and 3TBL of ACV. I was still feeling irritation after hours so I decided to soak a tampon in AVC and SALT. I inserted the tampon (which was very hard and painful to do) then left it in for about 10-15 min. I felt instant relief when I removed it. I feel like the infection is gone now, but I'm going to continue drinking lots of water to be sure. It looks very pink and shiny and pretty and it looks like the YEAST BEAST is gone. I know this sounds like alot but I was desperate! Thank u for all of these helpful tips!

Yogurt is also an effective natural fix. Eat yogurt of any flavor, or use plain yogurt on a tampon (even better, make your own suppository with an empty tampon casing! ). Eat and apply it for a double-whammie against candida.

The problem was the baking soda, not the ACV. Baking soda PROMOTES yeast growth.

I recently learned that Candida...ingenious and elusive as it is, thrives in an ALKALINE environment! Many a time I have run across the lone voice in the wilderness here saying the ACV was not helping them or was causing them issues with their many ailments as it seemed to be miraculously curing everything for everyone else. I too have more trouble than not when using ACV. It is more than likely the ACV could have in fact been exacerbating her problem.

TY to all who previously posted! For the non-believers this really does work! Im telling everyone about it!

For external yeast infections, I put apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle without diluting it. Then, twice a day, I spray the area directly. Yes, it burns initially but then feels so much better. I do this for about 5 days.

I just did the following and got results in 30 minutes!
Now that I am in my 40s, I find that I often start to get the beginnings of a yeast infection on day 3 of my cycle. I assume it's got something to do with hormone levels... I'm looking into it as it's a bit annoying. Generally if I catch it soon enough, a regular application of lavender oil clears it up. (I put a few drops on my finger and insert). For whatever reason, this month, the yeast got the better of me. I was quite busy so initially opted for 1 day Monistat - which not only didn't work AT ALL - it actually caused me considerable discomfort. I decided to make time to deal with it the natural way. Here is what I purchased:
Boric Acid, empty 00 gel caps, Apple Cider Vinegar, raw organic coconut oil, raw organic Manuka Honey, FeminaFlora (this is a friendly bacteria suppository found at Health food stores in the refrigerator)
I immediately inserted ONE FeminaFlora and TWO capsules filled with boric acid. Then, while sitting on the toilet, I slathered on Manuka Honey, including coating my finger and inserting it a few inches up inside. Sat for 20 minutes - then rinced with warm water. (was already feeling relief from the burning/itching! ) Afterward - I put 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar in a basin of warm water large enough to sit in and did a sitz bath for 10 minutes. I ended this all off by soaking an organic cotton tampon in coconut oil and inserting it. I left that in for two hours.
VOILA! The honey stopped the burn/itch right away. The coconut oil was very soothing internally, and is also anit-fungal. The apple cider vinegar helps restore pH. The boric acid kills the over growth of yeast. The FeminaFlora boosts the GOOD flora! I will continue with one FeminaFlora every night for 7 nights, and one boric acid insert along with it. Honey, etc as needed - but I don't think I'm going to need them.
Moving forward, I plan to go on a candida cleanse where I will eliminate sugar for awhile... And see my acupuncturist to address hormone fluxuations. I am also going to start taking B vitamins. Best of luck! This really DOES work, and it works FAST! I had never tried the HONEY before and was thrilled with the immediate relief.
Salt
Posted by Sophie (Dayton, Ohio, USA) on 04/01/2012
I have to disagree. There is nothing wrong with taking a bath in regular table salt, especially only 1-2 cups. Even though some salt is absorbed transdermally, the thing about that process is that your body will only absorb what it needs, and no more. Soaking in salt water is not the same as drinking salt water. Additionally, table salt is iodized, so really it may be the iodine in the salt that is responsible for the healing effects, more than the sodium chloride itself.

That is so wonderful!! Congrats :)
I've had a yeast infection at least once a month for the past six months. I've used Monistat and Diflucan to get rid of the infection but they ALWAYS come back. It seems they started when I began the Depo shot in combination with cycling more than usual. I've gone off the Depo and the yeast infections are less frequent BUT still once a month. I don't use scented soaps and get out of my cycling/workout clothes immediately after.
SOoo I just bought some boric acid, hoping it'll cure this stupid infection that's inside me. My doctor mentioned boric acid to me as well but didn't give me any specifics. So yours told you to do one boric acid suppository then another three days later? I'm definitely trying that as soon as I get the boric acid in the mail.
Thank you!

Ok after weeks of reocurring yeast infections/bv I am thrilled to report I found relief! I had been to ob gyn who prescribed difulcan but after 2 weeks symptoms returned. I read and tried a few of the remedies on this site and found a few to work for a day or two but the symptoms always came back. After 3 days of tea tree oil and no fabric softener I finally feel back to normal. I also cut back on all sweets and starchy foods. I will continue regimen a day or two longer but I already feel 95% better! Thank you for posting :)

WOW! I am amazed. I stumbled across this website while doing research on my bv issue thats been ruling my life for months. Ive also had problems in the past with this infection but the docs always gave me the metrocondizole or however you say it. It would help for a short period of time but the problem would slowly but surely come back accompanied by a yeast infection. I was a my wits end and then I saw "Folic acid". Just so happens I had some sittin round the house and decided to give it a shot. Why not?? I took 3x the daily recomendation and went to bed... Woke up this mornin and checked things out.... AMAZING!! Smell=GONE, discharge=starting to normalize. I'll never see a doc about THIS problem ever again! I am FREE!

The refrigerated acidophilus chews work PERFECTLY for me! They dissolve easily... I don't experience that initial burning and extreme discomfort I feel upon insertion of a Monistat treatment... And relief comes QUICKLY. I insert one and chew one. If I act immediately (the day the little itch n twitch begins)... I'm back to normal in 1 or 2 days.
Garlic

So I was skeptical at first. The thought of putting a clove of garlic into my vag kinda freaked me out. But one can only go so long with the kind of intense itching that I was having. I made myself raw scratching, and then of course my labia were stinging and painfully sore! Argh!! Its the worst! Peeing then stings even more, and for sure there will be no sex when a gal feels this way.
I tried a 7 day homeopathic store bought remedy, after 5 days and still no relief, I of course came to my favorite site... Earth Clinic. 1st I tried douching with ACV and water, nothing changed, I was very bummed as I love AVC for so many other things. 2nd I tried H2O2 for a couple of days, had some big chunks of yeast fall out, but I still wasn't feeling better. During all of this, the only thing that gave me a slight reprieve from my flaming lips was slathering on the coconut oil. So finally I decided to try the garlic. I was too scared to pop a clove into my canal so I tried a soft gel garlic capsule. It worked! The next day I wasn't itchy at all! I do have to warn you though, if you do this, the smell is TERRIBLE in the morning, it will permeate your whole house. But I didn't care, my vagina was happy again. The following I night, all fear aside I went for the clove, stung one up, added a few gashes on the outside of the clove, and in it went. Smeared on some CO since I am still healing from all the tissue damage I caused by my relentless labia abuse, and then I slept soundly. Woke up, no garlic smell, no itch... I am free!
Never again will I waste my money on things that dont work... Garlic is the way to go!

I'm 28 years old and have never had a yeast infection until two weeks ago. I'm sure it was due to high stress, sodas every evening for days and working as a landscaper in soaked clothing after a rainstorm. I didn't realize what it was until it had gotten quite bad and the vaginal skin was bleeding. I went right to the ACV and dabbed a 1:1 mixure onto the outer vagina and it has kept the yeast under control however there was still yeast problems in the internal vagina.
So inserted an all cotton organic tampon leaving it just slightly protruding outside the vagina. While sitting in my empty bathtub I poured a diluted mixure of ACV/water over the vagina to soak the tampon and then pushed it farther in. I used about 1 tsp ACV/cup water but will strengthen it next time. I left it in for about 2 hours and when I took it out it was covered in yeast. I have not itched at all for the last 12 hours. I'm going to continue this until it is completely cured, which I don't think will take too long. Good Luck.

I have been reading these comments for weeks, and I am so relieved and grateful that I can finally contribute to the forum by reporting that my 2 and a half month yeast infection is finally GONE! I tried everything from Monistat to Terconazole and Diflucan to Hydrogen Peroxide douches and Acidophilus suppositories and nothing really worked until three days ago when I started doing ACV douches twice a day (about 2 tbsps in 1 and a half cup water), once in the morning and once before bed. I also have been taking acidophilus and garlic supplements, and I also started inserting a garlic clove vaginally at bedtime. I don't know what finally made it go away, or how much the whole combination helped, but I literally had been unable to have sex for the past few months due to stinging pain, and I had felt unbearable itching and burning every single day. I cannot believe that it is gone.
My boyfriend and I have had sex twice in the past day, and I am pain free. It is amazing. I want to throw a party :) It took until the second day of this regimen to realize it was getting better, and yesterday I realized it no longer hurt. Absolutely amazing. I hope that this could be helpful to someone else. If you had asked me three days ago, I would have said no way would it be better by Memorial Day :)

Justcallmedd - re yeast infections, I have been reading up on other problems and came across some very interesting information. One article that I read said people are getting more yeast infections because of the way our food is prepared these days.
For example milk these days is pasteurised which means it has been heated (and that kills off the good bacteria in the gut). This causes people to have problems digesting milk.
Also most water is chlorinated. If people drink it straight away (and do not leave the water sit for about 20 minutes for the chlorine to dissipate) it also kills off the good bacteria in the gut.
Thirdly the way that bread products are prepared these days is very bad for your gut. Most bread is not allowed enough time to "prove" so it ends up fermenting in your stomach. Without proper digestive juices it causes problems with digestion as well.
Apple cider vinegar is a fermented product. It has many good things about it re vitamins and minerals but one of the good things about it is that being a fermented product adds back good bacteria into your stomach. If you have extra sugar they end up being eaten by the good bacteria.
The more I read the more I think we need to eat more fermented products so that our digestive tracts can be repaired. Kifir, fermented vegetables, apple cider vinegar are all good. Even yoghurt and probiotics are good.
I have also found a wonderful homemade receipe for a bread that is simple but it is made with a fermented process. Even celiacs can eat this bread.
An alkaline body is what your body needs but the yeast infections are a result of your body's inability to digest food properly.
If you google fermented foods and their benefits you will get heaps of info. Apple Cider Vinegar is a great start.

I have been struggling with a vaginal yeast infection for about the last three months. Itchiness, yeasty smelling discharge, extreme crankiness. Let me tell you, it has been dominating my life, it is all I have been able to think about, and has been making me want to pull my hair out with frustration. I went to the doctor... Twice... The first time, she's like, "yup, you definitely have yeast! " No kidding right? So she prescribes me diflucan and a three day course of terconazole. The diflucan did nothing. The terconazole wasn't much better. I tried a few natural remedies, tea tree oil on a tampon, garlic oil on a tampon, yogurt, probiotics, I stopped eating bread and sugars, caffine, etc. Nothing was working. I went back to the doctor for the second time. This time she takes a culture and prescribes me a seven day treatment of the terconazole. This seems to work for the first few days, but then it comes right back as bad as ever. She then prescribes me two weeks of ketaconazole. This is about as effective as the diflucan. After calling and talking to the doctor again, she said the culture came back as being a different form of candida (not albicans), and that she wanted to put me on two weeks of the terconazole. However, my insurance would not pay for any more terconazole since apparently I had already gotten the amount they felt I should need. Lol.
I tried the garlic suppositories at this point because I was at my wits end. It seemed to help some, and alleviated some of the itching. Still not gone though. So last night in the shower I squirted some diluted ACV up there, and a strange whitish mucuous-like discharge came out. Today I am less itchy and no yeasty discharge. Hooray! I also started taking a supplement last night which has a lot of natural herbal ingredients which help with candida as well as giving you some probiotic support. I don't know if that is also part of what is helping, but I do think the ACV helped.

My girlfriend has yeast infection and subsequently I got it from her. She isn't good at taking remedies nor medication and since she doesn't live with me, it is hard for me to control things. So this week I got an infection between scrotum and leg so I tried something new. I have BABA DE CARACOL or snail slime. Used it once yesterday and today forgot about it. I went just now to check and put more slime. It is now completely gone. Also Snail oil is good for burns and if applied will not leave a scar on 2nd degree burns. I don't know how it works on 3rd degree burns but should fair better than regular remedies or medication. It is easy to come by here in Colombia. So 1 YEA for SNAIL SLIME. it kills yeast fast and furiously.

Michelle, My GYN looked under a microscope and said it was yeast. Of course, she could not identify the strain. The reason we knew it was resistant is that none of the conventional yeast medications worked. I tried a Diflucan; once a week for 4 weeks, then one every 2 weeks for a month, and then 1 a month for 3 months. This is a treatment given when women are believed to have a resistant strain. After 2 months, I asked my doctor if I could stop taking it because this too was not working. She agreed. I then tried boric acid as a last resort, which did not work either. Also, the lab tests always came back normal. For some reason, the yeast was never detected in the lab.

UPDATE: I am still yeast free. I did have one bout of it a year ago. My standard treatment of Vit e, folic acid, and acidophilus did not work. I suspect that the yeast became resistant to the treatment since I used it so much. For the last infection a year ago, I consumed lots of yogurt/plain kefir and did ACV baths. I would also recommend checking your Vitamin D levels. I was always running low in the vitamin over the last few years. Since all this occurred, I have been diagnosed with gallstones and have been having symptoms of a sluggish gallbladder. Gallbladder disease causes us to run low in fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. I did run low in D during the time I had the chronic yeast infection. So, I suspect my body may have been low in Vitamin E as well. I believe now that this had something to do with why my body could not fight off the yeast. I have read about Vitamin D and E being used to fight yeast infections.

Do me a favor, tell all that want help for these problems to read labels on all products, stay away from all dairy products, commercial yeast, soy, use spelt flour leavened with out yeast. That's the only bread they can eat. No sugars, that includes, natural sugars, like honey . 2 drops of stevia only Perday. Wash with tea tree oil in a sink, or add 5 drops to bath water, with 5 drops of Lemon oil and 5 drops of Lemongrass oil . These are therapeutic essential oils not aromatherapy oils.
Ingest, 1 drop of oregano oil with Caprilic oil and olive leave capsule 3 times a day. Use Caprilic oil at night with your last olive leave capsule. For vaginal yeast only. Insert a capsuals of boric acid into the vagina for the night and a good bacteria capsual in the day. Where a pad for the leakage of the yeast coming out.
After bathing, make a jar filled with coconut oil theraputic oil 1 drop each of Lemon, Lemon grass, tea tree, and neem oils together. Do not melt coconut oil in microwave. Melt in hot water dish. Combine all, let it harden and use it all over your body. If you have lichen plants on your skin melt the oil and apply.

God bless the Earth Clinic! I was a bit desperate today, leaving for work and realizing I had my yearly yeast infection - burn, burn. As soon as I got to my computer, I researched the remedies here, and once I found the plain yogurt therapy, zoom! I dashed out to buy a small carton of plain yogurt (organic). I applied a teaspoonful up the canal with a finger, and ah! Relief! What a brilliant cure. I will continue this for a few days. Last year, I tried using ACV, and that also worked, but the yogurt is so soothing. I just love this web resource: thank you for being there!

Garlic

On Monday night, I tried the garlic remedy, inserting a freshly peeled clove of garlic vaginally. The next morning, the itching had almost completely subsided. I did notice the tiniest light pink trace of blood when I wiped after peeing last night, but there was no pain and I didn't think much of it (I am expecting my period within the week or so). I repeated the process last night. This morning, I noticed that though the itching hasn't returned, the area is a little tender to the touch when I wipe after peeing I am spotting. There is still very little but more blood. I asked my partner to take a look and he says I look red and "raw". I know that some folks are very sensitive to the garlic's juice and that's why it's advised not to nick or slice the clove while peeling. I've been threading the cloves with a needle to make them easier to remove in the mornings. Could this be the reason I am having this effect? Has anyone else had this reaction?

ACV ROCKS its a YEA for me. Ok ladies, I have had a yeast infection that lasted about 5 weeks, went away, then came back with the same vengeance 2 1/2 weeks later. My yeast infection was spread through my legs, lower back, belly and of course entire vaginal/anal area.It was red, swollen and so itchy i wanted to itch my skin off. It was MISERABLE. Went to the doctor (stupid quack) and she just gave me Nystatin twice. and mine was so bad!!! she just acted like it was not big deal. anyways thank god for this site. Heres what I did:
first of all, an ice pack does help
Acidophilus (3 pills at a time 2-3 times a day with meal).
Swallowed two cloves of garlic a day ( tea or crush it or chop it up like pills and swallow with water).
ACV bath with 1 and 1/2 cups ACV and luke warm water once a day for first 2 days(or to soothe irritation when needed)for about 20-25 min.
Douche with 2 tblspns of ACV and 1-1 1/2 cups water (internally it wasnt that bad for me)-this stung just a tiny bit for a few minutes and it was my first douche. I would do this twice a day for a week to be sure.
2 tbsps of ACV with water once a day.
ACV on cotton balls applied directly to rash whenever irritated(it stings a minute but it is WORTH IT just gradually start with the bikini line and see what you can handle, it helps SOOOO much on legs too)
I also after making sure i was CLEAN AND DRY down there applied desitin to keep it dry while i was at work. (desitin seals out moisture) this helped me get through my the first two days.
I started with all of this 2 1/2 days ago, and it immediately gave me temperary relief right away,70% relief after the first day and 90-95% the second. I will continue all these things for at least a week to be sure my body is back in balance. If yours was as bad as mine it is so important to continue treatment internally (digestive or whatever) for a few weeks to make sure it stays gone. I will continue taking acidopholis regularly from now on.

I had a yeast infection that persisted for 2 months. I couldn't understand why I got it because I didn't have any of the risk factors except for stress which completely undermined my immune system. I have to say that I tried everything--and finally when I started taking large doses of garlic tablets, my symptoms subsided and when I got better I stopped taking them. My symptoms came back with a vengeance. I had persistent almost unrelieved itch for over 2 weeks, although I had the intermittent itch for 2 months. I was crying it was so bad. The only thing that really helped was the ACV douche and bath. I had been douching with garlic and baking soda for almost 3 weeks until I read about the ACV, which I did twice a day for a week, and also ACV baths in between to help with the itch. It took about 45 minutes of sitting in the bath for the itching to subside. I didn't sleep for 2 months because of the itch and had to get up several times a night to bathe. I finally went to the doctor and got the fluconazole 150mg dose which didn't touch my symptoms, along with an antifungal/steroid cream for the itch which also did nothing. I was tired of the baths, the sleepless nights. I was back on megadoses of garlic, oregano oil, 3 types of probiotics, candidase, parasite cleanse capsules, a total vegetarian candida diet and even the ACV baths did not completely relieve me.
Finally, I got the book "Who Killed Candida?" and started to follow the program outlined within. It works! Get the book!!!! It's a lifestyle change which includes walking everyday before 7am and going to bed early. I was too weak and tired and ITCHY to walk, but I made myself get up and do it because I was so desperate and each day got stronger and stronger and the itch got less and less, especially after walking. I also did the garlic tampon--just a clove of garlic slathered in vitamin e oil inserted into my vagina every night for 7 nights which controlled the itch the best. I also have been doing contrast showers--3 minutes hot and 30seconds of cold water X3 every day to my vagina which creates almost an unbearable tingling sensation with all the blood rushing to the area, but subsides after 1 hour. After just 7 days of doing the program, I am virtually symptom free!!! You need the strongest garlic capsules--Kyolic to help restore your immunity, and I am doing 8 capsules a day. NOTHING has worked as well as the lifestyle program. NOTHING. The supplements alone will not do it. You need to do the whole program to rebuild your body's immune system to help you fight this stubborn mutating yeast. Few doctors will tell you this, but this is what worked for me!!!

so....I inserted the yogurt for about a week and that didn't cure the extreme itchiness. On day 5 I decide to try the hydrogen peroxide. I did 1 teaspoon of the hydrogen peroxide and 1 cup of warm water, stirred it up and filled a baby medicine dropper with the mix. Inserted that. It did sting a little and I was concerned and I also didn't feel well all day. BUT it went away. Results were almost immediate. I don't know if it is safe and I hope I never have to do it again.
Important to note; I did get my period back after trying this. I am not sure if it is because of the hydrogen peroxide or if it is due to my thyroid issues. If you experience spotting as well, this may be a bad idea to do and you should see your doctor instead.

Tea tree oil helps for yeast infections, both as prevention and early-stage cure. For prevention, simply apply a few drops on the bikini area after washing morning and evening. If you notice the first signs of a yeast infection, take a tampon, apply a few drops of olive oil, or almond oil, or best of all St John's wort oil (which has soothing properties) on the tip. This will render it less absorbant. Then add 2-3 drops of Tea tree oil and insert the tampon for the night. You can do this again in the morning. If the infection is caught relatively early, works like a charm! Better than garlic, yoghurt, ACV - at least, in my experience.

After reading many of these posts about yeast infections and cider vinegar, I think it's important for someone to point out that while diet is important and maintaining an alkaline environment in the body is important too, the reason the vinegar works is because the vagina itself is not alkaline at all. The vinegar helps restore the balance of the naturally acidic conditions in that region.
