ACV and Baking Soda
Posted by Donna (Port Huron, MI, USA) on 12/15/2008

I have read with interest many of the comments on ACV and weight loss. To the lady in Michigan who wrote about reading a book by a doctor in Vermont, it is The Arthritis Cure by Dr. Jarvis. I had calcium deposits blocking my nerve endings, causing excruciating pain. The doctors could not diagnose it, but suggested it might be skin arthritis, which is supposedly incurable. I followed his protocol of iodine, kelp, Vitamin C, calcium, honey and ACV and lost most of these calcium deposits within a few weeks. To those of you making comments about losing the pain and symptoms of arthritis and RA, it would be worthwhile to read this book if it is still in print. I do not remember the exact dosages that he recommended. I had read many books about arthritis; his is the only one that worked.

For those of you having trouble with increased appetite and weight gain instead of weight loss, I would suggest you read about eating for your blood type. I had a very difficult time losing weight after menopause; when I began to eat for my blood type (Type O, non-secretor), I lost the weight that I could not lose in any other way. However, for me, it meant giving up a lot of foods, including most grains. My blood type cannot consume any kind of vinegar without having negative effects. I used the ACV because the arthritis was worse than the weight problem.

However, I always found that my appetite increased massively whenever I consumed ACV, whether on an empty stomach or with a meal. If you read books about yeast problems (The Yeast Connection, etc., you will find out that yeast when it dies in your body produces a byproduct that stimulates the appestat, the gland that controls hunger. ACV, especially with the mother, contains yeast. So for some people, this might explain why the ACV does not work. I solved the yeast problem by taking acidophilus, which kills the yeast. This is all explained in more detail in these books.

I feel, though, that the problems of weight gain and appetite increase might be solved by taking baking soda with the ACV, something which I had never heard of. So I am trying that right now. Usually when I take ACV, I have almost immediate hunger cravings, even when I am eating. On an empty stomach it is even worse. But I am drinking this ACV/baking soda combination right now on an empty stomach and I have not had any cravings. So to those of you who tried it and found it did not work, I would suggest you try it again with the baking soda.

Acid reflux is usually helped by adding acid, not by using antacids, so drinking ACV would help with this.

To the person who might be breaking up gall stones in the liver and being in a lot of pain passing those stones, it is a good thing to pass those stones. I passed a lot of them at once, and immediately my energy level increased. Now I understand what is meant by a sluggish liver. But I passed all those stones, hundreds of them in one evening, by using a liver cleanse. There are many of them described on the internet. I found one that used lemon juice, olive oil, grapefruit juice and Epsom salt. I took this at night, woke up in the morning and passed all those stones painlessly, and lost about 3" on my waist overnight. I know that because I had to tighten my belt. The Epsom salt (food-grade) apparently relaxes the muscles enough to open the ducts to allow the stones to pass out easily. I was amazed at their size.

Anyway, I am so grateful for this site and for how much I am learning by everything you have all so generously contributed. Thanks to all of you and to the administrators of this site.

Fennel
Posted by ROSINA LOCK (EAST END OF LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM) on 09/05/2022

Hi AC,

Don't know if you are still around, but you was asking if anyone had tried Fennel herb and whether it was good for weight loss or eyesight? I have always suffered with chronic constipation from a little girl and just over a year ago, it was seriously constipated for 6 WEEKS! I simply could not go. I tried 7 drugs from the NHS, none of them worked. I tried herbs, nope! I was desperate and my son Paul, was worried sick because he knew I would not go to hospital. I remember having a little jar somewhere with a powdered herb in it and thought "i wonder what ii bought that for?" It was Fennel and I found it hidden in the back of the cupboard! I took a flat teaspoon in my coffee, and a miracle occurred! Within 1 hour I went to the toilet, no pain, just went normally as though I had never been constipated! My son was releived and so was I! Now, nothing and I mean nothing works for me, despite my trying other stuff for constipation, but Fennel does it every single time. No pain, no diarreah, I just go normal within the hour to two hours of taking it in my coffee, incidentally I just ordered another 400 grams because I would be lost without it. Now I have been taking this for about 8 months virtually every day. Nope! No weight loss! My eye sight is pretty bad, and I know this for certain because April 2021, I had a very serious emergency operation for Diverticulitis and was rushed to hospital, within 10 days of being in hospital, I lost 14 lbs in weight! Simply because I couldn't eat a single thing the hospital gave me due to the most chronic acid reflux!! I was actually over the moon because I had desperately been trying to lose weight and I went from 9 stone 2 lbs to 8 stone!! Oh 16 lbs I lost!

Now I have put all the weight back on and am exactly 9 stone 2 lbs again! I am only 4 ft 9 inches tall and very petite, and although curvy at the waist, and quite nice figured for my age, 9 stone 2 lbs makes me look thick set because I am so short!! So of course, like you I came back to Earth Clinic to have a read up. Now it could be that Fennel will help you lose weight? But I have just weighed myself, and nope I am 9 stone 2 lbs, so the weight I lost last year has all come back on. I only eat 1 meal per day, and a salad or some fruit or couple salad sandwiches later in the evening, I doubt I even eat more than 1500 calories a day, but it could be because I don't exercise. So just wanted to explain that I do take Fennel powder every single day, twice a day, I regret I haven't lost any weight from it, but it is absolutely brilliant, if you suffer with constipation! It is for me anyway! Your message is a bit old so not sure if you still come online, or you've probably found your answer by now, but just in case anyone else is curious, it could help people lose weight but sadly not for me it never!

Activated Charcoal

I had been losing weight really quickly after starting an exercise program. I wanted to make sure that any old toxins that had been stored in my fat didn't start circulating in my body, so I took 1 tablet of activated charcoal, 3 times a day (remembering to wait 2 hours before/after eating), for a week. I didn't exactly feel a difference, but I SAW one. I looked five years younger (am only 30, so that's a lot for me)! I also highly recommend adding 1 teaspoon of activated charcoal powder to 1 tablespoon of facial mask. It is a mini-facelift!

Its not healthy to consume activated charcoal close to meals because you may not be able to absorb the nutrients.
I saw that you take it 2 hours prior or after. So its just a word of precaution. :)

ACV and Baking Soda

Remedy: Apple cider venigar and baking soda. Ailment: weight loss and blood ph. I am senior who has been using ACV off and on for years, but did not attribute it to anything particular, even though people commented on my skin, I thought that I was just blessed; however, six months ago, I saw an article on the wonders of ACV and baking soda, and thought that I whould try the mixture (which I drank through a straw three times a day, to protect my teeth from the acid), in combination with a daily exercise program, (bally total fitness twister), for weight loss, also to alkalize my blood ph. Well in no time at all, (1 month), I lost those stubborn five pounds that I had been struggling with, and my ph went from 8.0 to 6.8. Hope this helps those who are concerned about their weight and teeth.

Hello Everyone, Well, it's now May of 2008 and I've been using the ACV & Baking Soda for 10 months. I have now reached my 40lb weight loss mark and couldn't be happier. I have over the last 5 months removed a majority of the processed foods that I was eating from my diet, as most processed foods had allergens in them for me and I feeling even better now that I am avoiding my food allergies. I will continue to learn from as many good sites and this one, in order to continue my journey to better health. Thank you earthclinic and Ted for all that you have done. You are a God send. Kim

I just wanted to say that the acv diet really works. When I first started the program I was 196lbs and I've been on it for 9 days and I now weight 187lbs!! I am so happy I stopped the diet, but I am now back on it. I am also doing the colon cleanse as well. The only thing that I am unsure about is how much am I to drink per day?

My boyfriend recently told me about Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with apple juice as a cure for sore throat, colds etc... I remember hearing about ACV in the 70's for weight loss but never knew how to take it. I did some research and found this site and decided to try it. I AM CONVINCED THAT ACV IS A MIRACLE CURE!! Remember the old adage "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"? Well I thought it can't hurt so I started drinking 2 t. of ACV with 6 oz. apple juice twice a day, 5 days ago. I have increased energy, decreased appetite and for the first time in 10 years I did not get a menstrual migraine with my period this morning. I've been taking Maxalt at least twice a month for years for hormonal migraines and did not need it today. That in and of itself has made me a believer. My boyfriend has also reported increased energy and general overall well being. We will continue to drink ACV daily. Thank you for this great site!

After reading the many posts about ACV and weight loss I noticed that many who had lost weight also changed diet and added exercise to the mix. In my mind, those are the elements that induced weight loss, not ACV. However, I am a believer in natural health care, so I tried the ACV without changing a thing about my lifestyle-- no change in diet, no added exercise. My normal eating habits are better than the average American, but I do eat a lot of home-baked goods because I live with a fabulous baker. I do light exercise for an hour 2-3 times per week teaching a self-defense class, but it is not a workout! Once or twice a month, I manage to fit in a real workout. Otherwise, I sit at a desk all day and teach a couple of nights. I take 2 tablespoons ACV with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 8 ounces of water once per day. Time of day varies for me as I am not a routine-oriented person. I drink it straight up (the flavor doesn't bother me) and in two weeks I have lost 3 pounds. Interestingly, this has motivated me to recommit to my own workouts more often. I sense the ACV is helping me to clear and cleanse and balance, which generally keeps me healthier and curbs cravings. It's cheap too!

2-3 Eggs Per Day
Posted by MissM (NY) on 10/21/2021

This would be considered a keto diet. If you eat protein and eliminate sugar you will easily drop weight. Keto is more balanced than just protein sources like eggs. It's proteins, good fats coconut oil, olive oil, not canola oil, and vegetables.

No sugars or low to no carbs, which means no white foods bread pasta, sugar.

You turn your body from a sugar burner to a fat burner.

I don't think it was just eating eggs that was the miracle worker, you were eating better quality food.

Yacon Powder

Yacon syrup/powder helps support weight loss and helps improve intestinal motility.

The powder is much better tasting than the syrup. (bought it online from a nut/seed distributor).

One teaspoon to one tablespoon can be taken before a meal (mixed into water or just taken as a sweet powder), a few minutes to an hour before the meal.

* Too much can cause intestinal distress/diarrhea, (sometimes noticed only a few days later) so the dosage should be adjusted accordingly.

Yacon also lowers hunger level, so that one needs to eat less. It is also a pre-biotic helping to grow good bacteria.

It has many other benefits. It helps against certain cancers. It is anti-fungal. It helps to lower blood sugar, to lower cholesterol, to lower blood pressure. It helps the liver.

Green Tea, Garlic

I would like to add a couple remedies for weight loss.

I am 38 years old and about 8 months ago I started gaining weight for no reason. I had not changed my diet. I went to the doctor to ensure nothing was wrong medically and they checked my thyroid and everything else. All was normal. The doctor felt my metabolism was slowing down due to my age. I tried cutting back on food and calories and still no weight loss. It was beyond frustrating. ACV did not help me and coconut oil was just plain gross to eat for me.

The only thing that was helping was a keto diet but as soon as I ate any carbs the weight would come right back in a couple of days. Who wants to live without carbs? Not me. I read about green tea and also saw a testimonial for garlic.

I know people take garlic to lower cholesterol but I had not heard about it for weight loss.

So I started drinking one cup of green tea during the day. And in the evening after dinner or before I go to sleep I chop up 3 cloves of garlic and swallow it with water. I am finally losing weight while eating regular food. Carbs and all. I have noticed that I lose more weight while doing the garlic/green tea combination daily, even though they both probably work on their own.

Neem Tea
Posted by Hisjewel (America, New York) on 05/08/2016

Happy Mothers Day, Mothers! I decided to stop a moment here and update my update.

I got an good report from the doctor. I do not go to the doctor often, but I do go for my yearly check up and when it is absolutely necessary. Kidneys good, liver good, blood pressure bad, had a tendency of running high was 119/60. My blood sugar was still borderline and so was my cholesterol.

Now, what you want to know is that I lost 20 pounds from the middle of March to the present. Now trying to remember all the details right does not always happen with me. But I do know that I was doing a 21 day prayer consecration, during which I cut out basically bread, rice and flour, thought sometimes I had some wheat bread, but not daily. I cut down on how much sugar I use in my tea.

You want to know the truth right? I did eat french fries. Had to laugh there. But I did not eat the burger. My meat was either chicken or tuna.

Just to give you a line of of the supplements that I stuck to during this time. Cayenne Pepper and Ginger daily, which I was taking for my circulation and heart. Manganese which I was taking once a week get rid of hair balls, Stinging Nettle to grow my hair and found out it was good for circulation and weight lost too, and Neem which I actually give credit for maintaining the weight lost, because it regulates blood sugar etc.

There are a few other supplements I take but only as needed.

We can do this. Now to not go back to the Junk. You know today is Mother's Day so I did a lot of cheating. Which way to the GYM?

Honey and Cinnamon

Honey for Weight Loss and Stress:

I'm a big fan of honey for helping lose and maintain weight loss. My biggest problem with dieting is not that I don't enjoy daily exercise and vegetables, but I could not get rid of my sugar cravings in order to stop binging on cookies and chocolate! Especially in the afternoon and evening. It was stressing me out so bad I'd end up quitting and just yo-yoing my weight again. So read about honey, and thought it was worth a try. I started eating 1 TBS organic blackberry honey along with sprinkling of cinnamon on half a slice of toasted whole wheat pita bread. Perks me right up and gives me energy, and it gets rid of my sugar cravings! It's easy now to ignore high-fat fare, and I get a nutritious snack in the process that I don't have to feel guilty about. I've lost 64 pounds so far in the last year!

I have struggled with GERD, Overweight, and fatigue for several years. After the medical discovery that Prilosec, Nexium and other medications as these can stop calcium from being absorbed in your bones, I was a little scared. So I decided to do some web surfing for natural cures.. And YOU WERE HERE! Over a week ago I started the ACV and HOT water with baking soda mixture. The first three days I lost 5 pounds and my reflux problem was gone. It tried to come back later that first week, so I increased my intake of AVC to a more powerful solution.
1/2 cup of ACV
1/2 cup of water
1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda ( 1 x day)

Today I weighed again ad I have lost 9 lbs! I am so happy! Plus my blood pressure is becoming more stable. The GERD is gone. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for this website! God bless you guys!!

Eggs +

As a researcher, I found this the best way to work on my body:

1) 2-4 eggs per day

2) Light cheese 16% to 17% (do not use higher fat cheese)

3) Limited sugar (use stevia instead), limit potatoes, limit spaggetti, limit flour. This means that these should be used as less as possible.

Results were amazing for me, since I wanted to lose 6 to 7 kilos and this the only food combination that worked for me.
