Bleach and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak

I contracted an itchy rash from the man I had been seeing for the last 6 months. He travels quite a bit for work and he became symptomatic before me and the doctor said it was contact dermatitis. But that doesn't spread to others. After I started itching, I realized the doctors were wrong. But then couldn't find anything until this website. The fact that people were so frank and not scared to say... this worked for me.

Tonight is my first attempt at the Bleach/Peroxide bath and this is the first I have not wanted to peel my skin off in days. After the bath I took a hot scrub shower, and then sprayed myself with a water/bleach mix(4/1) and dryed with a hair dryer. Then slathered in tea tree oil.

I hope that everyone tries this. INSTANTLY better. Now begins the battle of cleaning, cleaning, cleaning!

But thank you to everyone who shared an alternative to doctors and pesticides.

I wanted to add my cent to this nightmare. Anyway no more bites still dealening with crawlies and pinpricks. I thight I was cured bc I wasn't getting bites and wasn't really itchy. Well the crawling on my face and head was driving me nuts. And I did treat the face and head and body with permethirn like 20 times ( no joking) and also did ivermectin it is very helpful but sometimes not curative depending if it makes it to te skin or not. Some livers seems to fight the venom more than others but there is a high cure among many. Except myself. Although I am trying it again bc I was showering after my dose and that washes off the oil of skin and also the ivermetin that kill them.

If you get lucky and ask your doctor for ivermectin( aka Stromectol ) ask him to give at least 3 doses at 250mc per kilo. Take it in the evening and do not eat 3hours prior the dose. Only drink grapefruit before and after and that will extend the efficacy of this med. Take it with any oil I took fish oil like 4 pills and this is very information do not take a shower for 2 days and keep the permethrin for 24 hours or more. 12 hours is not enough. Scabies in America are becoming resistant to permethirn. Everyone knows that.

Now I am also doing bleach baths and after the bath I am doing a 8 hour castor oil with Tea tree oil. Castor oil suffocated them big time. I did it. I did the castor for the first time last night bc I wanted to know if I was cured or not, due the lack of tracks bites etc and itchness but surely enough I was shocked bc once you do the castor oil wait like 15 minutes and they go crazy!!!!! The good thing about these bastards is that they need oxygen u cut that and you kill a lot. Now you have to continue this for like 6 weeks due to eggs.

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak
Posted by I Hate Scabies! (Leonardtown, Md) on 06/16/2012

So I recently learned that I have scabies for the third time within three years (all during summer time). It doesn't seem to have left my community & I feel so paranoid about every itch! I found out before I even showed symtoms (my boyfriends roommates thankfully let us know in time). To add to the scabies problem we've been dealing with fleas for almost a year now too! It sounds trashy I'm sure, but believe me, it's driving me & my boyfriend insane. It's hard to get stuff taken care of when unfortunately not everyone see's eye to eye on how to handle it. CRAZY RIGHT?! It shouldn't even be a discussion, just get the pests OUT. Period. THE END! But no, that is not the case, sadly.

Any ways. We have been using cold pressed neem oil twice a day for the past week or two & it was really doing a good job at controlling it, but it's getting worse. So we decided to start taking the HP & Borax baths. The first time I took the bath I did not air dry & then used the neem oil head to toe. Everything seemed fine. Two days later I was able to make the time for a second bath. I air dried this time & used a lot of neem oil. The next day I cleaned an entire basement in sweat pants & a hoodie (which really opened up my pores, ) noticed a little redness on my skin, especially my chest & neck. After cleaning I took a hot shower (also really opening up my pores) & used more neem oil after I dried off with a towel, this time I think I used just a tad too much on my chest & neck. I was very red by the time I finished but didn't notice anything wrong until later that night when my neck & chest were scary red & I had odd bumps every where. I got so confused as to whether it was just the reaction or if all those little red bumps were scabies that just became visible all of a sudden. I showered again before bed to see if it would help the reaction & the next morning rubbed coconut oil on me to soothe the itch & to see how my skin might react. Around one in the morning I took some benadryl to reduce the redness & bumps. It only helped a little so I went to the ER at about 7 in the morning to see if there was any advice a doctor might have, of course it's usually not much help. I can NOT go through this again, it's miserable, as any one with scabies would know. Right now I'm struggling with an allergic reaction & scabies & fleas. I am planning to try the borax but on a smaller area (had to learn the hard way) to see if it is what caused the reaction. Or just the combo of everything I had on my skin. I gave my skin a break from everything, which worries me a bit considering how quickly scabies appear but I don't want to make anything worse for my skin!

So my point to this post is to always test a product before getting into a hot bath with it & be more cautious about the things you put on your skin. Especially if you're like me with sensitive skin. It sucks to have scabies. But it sucks even more to have scabies & then a bad allergic reaction. I really wish the best of luck to any one with this infestation. The first time I didn't even know what it was till three months later (thanks to an idiot doctor who told me I was fine & had no idea what was wrong -_-). I will be paranoid for probably the rest of my life. I plan to keep up the cleaning & hopefully I can continue my treatment if my skin heals, for about a month if not the rest of my summer. Maybe I'll have a nice summer next year?

GOOD LUCK!

Tea Tree Oil
Posted by Citygirl27 (Richardson, Tx, Usa) on 06/14/2012

I bought a job lot of 2oz tea tree oil bottles online 'buy 2 get 3 free' from the big online vitamin merchant that starts with a P, and I put it in everything. I add extra tea tree oil to my tea tree shampoo and toner - (tip - buy tea tree toiletries and add extra TTO to them for extra strength and ongoing protection), put it on my more affected spots straight after coconut oil so it won't burn, the real 100% pure stuff is very strong. Use it in the bath, put a few drops in your shower gel, do everything you can think of with tea tree except eat it. It is very strong, so start out doing a few of these at night if the smell is unsocial. Using it in oil like coconut, olive or almond oil is better than lotion because there are no additives or wax in an essential oil.

Orange oil: I am using orange oil today. I put it on after I had a bath (with tea tree and coconut oil in it :) ), and used coconut oil as the carrier. It smells SO good. SO much better than some of the more smelly remedies. Orange with clove oil smells like Christmas omg just use a carrier oil like coconut, almond or olive bc clove oil is extremely strong. I got mine online from the big vitamins company that starts with a P, buy 2 get 3 free. It is definitely keeping them quiet and smells yum.

Diatomaceous earth (D. E. ) is available from shops that sell swimming pool supplies. It normally comes in a large box, however you can use what is left over to treat ants if you need it. I learned this from a past apartment maintenance person. I had ants outside my door - anthills and ants in the entryway cracks. They came around with their box of DE and put it on the ant areas. It was the same thing they (and I) have used in pools. I thought they were being "cheap" lol but it really worked.

Bleach and Water

I think I caught this from a girl I was seeing. She always had these little red bumps on her hands and would occasionally have a breakout of red dots on her body. She said that she was allergic to just about everything and she was always taking Clariton and Benedryl (sp?). So I never thought anything of it. She was also a beautiful girl and very clean. A few weeks in, I had similar bumps on my hands, mainly between my thumb and forefinger and I too, broke out in red dots across my body. Doctors told me it was an allergic reaction. But I have never been allergic to anything and I kept breaking out. And then the itching began. Stumped, I did my own research and I saw the burrow marks that I learned of, on my hands, in between most of my fingers. I was terrified after reading testimonials on other websites about how noone could shake these parasites and have had it for years. YEARS! Some even claimed to have considered suicide as an alternative. Then I found this sight. It is much more positive and helpful. I did the bleach/water full body spray, followed by a blow dry. About 20 seconds after the blow dry, the craziest things started happening. Things started coming out of my skin. I think it was mainly two different things. One was tiny little white specs. The other was like little white threads, 1/4 inch long, with a weird circle-like head or something. Coming right out of my skin. There may have been about 10 of those, and I don't even know how many of the tiny specs there were. Needless to say I was freaked out. But then afterwards, the itchiness subsided. I also took a bath in the borax/peroxide mix afterwards. My skin is dry, and I still have a little itchiness, but nothing like before. I have a positive outlook for the first time in months after last night. Today is my second day of this treatment. I can only hope that my condition continues to improve. And yes, I have been doing laundry like a nazi and cleaning like a freak. Thank you all so much for your input and stories. No one knows what we are going through. But stay positive and persistant. I don't know you guys, but I love you all. -Peace

I waited to Post untill I was Healed.. BORAX & HYDROGEN PEROXIDE was the Key to Cure.... I went to the Doctor and he gave me Pemerthrin Cream & a strong antibiotic for staff infection. It helped but did not completly cure. I dusted my bed and couch & chair and Drivers Seat of the Car with Boric Acid and took evening Hot Baths in a plam full of Twentymule Team Borax & 1/2 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide after a few weeks... The bumps I was still getting was not from mites any more but reaction to the borax so I slowly went from a handfull of borax to the bath to a teaspoon to zero.. After a few weeks of no borax bath & the last of the bumps went away and I was healed. I learned that the reaction to the Pemerthrin & Borax on the skin is the similar symptons as the scabies ( But not as near as bad you can live with it )... You do have to finally stop all treatments and give the skin time to heal... The whole scabies journey was the most horrible situation I have ever experienced in my life.. For those that are scratching while reading this there is a way to sanity again: Borax & Hydrogen Preoxide Hot Baths every evening and you will get healed.... God Bless!

To Chris from Chicago - regarding sweet orange oil, is it ok to use "Orange Oil" and it is not notated as "Sweet orange oil" on the label? I saw some at wh*le f*ods and wanted to buy it but wasn't sure if it would work the same. Please advise, or from anyone who knows if it is the same. Many Thanks. citygirl from Richardson, Texas.

I got sulfur soap and sulfur ointment online from a place in Oklahoma. Type 'sulfur soap' and 'sulfur ointment' in the search engine. I am pretty sure they ship internationally and they are very affordable. The sulfur ointment is a little grainy, I imagine it is the sulfur powder and petrolateum already made up for you. Very few ingredients. My son and I have been using it daily and no new bites, fingers crossed.

I have read through the posts on earth clinic about treating scabies and their has been a lot of good info. I would like to add my story that ends with a happy ending. I was fighting these biting bug mites, call it what you may for two months when me and my husband finally left the house after spraying it down heavy with insceticide and drove to the beach for a week. I swam in the ocean every day sometimes twice a day, washed all the sheets clothes towels what ever I touched every day. I also rubbed myself down with coconut oil twice a day and put clove oil in it also. Every time I felt an itch I put coconut oil on right away. I sat on a towel in the car that I washed at the end of the day and was taking two showers a day. First thing in the morning and last thing at night. I also used tecnu in the shower. When I was at the ocean I scrubbed with the sand to kill the mites. They don't like salt at all. I went from like a hundred bites to 20 to 10 in a matter of three days. This is day six and I don't have many places that bother me. I am praying that the lord heals me completly soon and hope that I can help someone else that maybe going through this. It is awful... But I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Keep your eyes and God and let him give you wisdom and healing through this.

Sulphur

There used to be a company that made a natural solution that worked great on these things but I believe the FDA shut them down.

Sulfur soap is an alternative you can buy in the 99cent stores or drug stores. 35% is best. Until you find it, soak in the tub with borax for an hour or so and you will sleep well but you have to keep doing it.

Clove Oil

Folks, this is the answer to your prayers! CLOVE OIL. Over the course of a year I tried many of the suggestions on this site for ridding myself of scabies. The winner is:

3/4 tsp clove oil mixed with 4 TBS olive oil

(Be careful: I made a too-potent blend and burned my skin, and the healing process was maybe even worse than the scabies! But at the 6% ratio I note above, I had no problem.)

I followed the protocols suggested in many of the postings here for laundry, bedding, bathing and general disinfecting. MMS bath 3x/day, followed by application of the clove/olive oil mixture (I also used almond and coconut oils). Apply it ALL over your body, even if you only see signs of scabies on your arm, e.g. also, I used a Q-tip and applied the undiluted oil directly onto the "bump" (I didn't put the undiluted oil on my uninfested skin).

I had scabies for over a year and by the time I tuned in to clove oil, they ranged from my ankles up to my chin! (I don't suppose details of my long mind-deranging ordeal are necessary, just imagine.)

If you want more information re the protocols I used (and helpful info from others), you can find them on Amazon.com under "Dermisil for Scabies, " 3-star review by Jennifer. As you might guess, I am not recommending this product, but it's where I first started out and because scabies are sooo horrible, I gave as much info as I could during my ordeal in order to be helpful to others.

Eternal (and I mean this) thanks to lorisayshey from San Diego (under the heading Citrus Mouthwash, 8/18/11) and Cathrine from Perth, Western Australia (under the heading Clove Oil, 8/28/11) for posting the link to the Australian study of the effects of clove oil on permethrin-resistant scabies. Hi all, this is a response to posts claiming that the mother is wrong because one cant see scabies... Yes you can! They are. 3-.45 of a mm (check wikipedia sarcoptic mange)..... Very small but very seeable. Especially when they've turned dark - hello, the little sucker is translucent only until they've filled their bellies with blood. Once they've burrowed you can see their home marked by a brown spot (thats their body and life's work worth of excrement- um ya theyre pooing in there too). The truth is, lots of what we call beauty marks are actually bug resting homes and after their normal two month life cycle has become a graveyard of sorts. Often though, as this is where their eggs are lain, the babies will both colonize their birth burrow and spread out, creating a trail of brown spots/burrows in a cluster. Got them during pregnancy on the inner forearm and thought I was experiencing an allergic reaction to fish. Sooo common are these bugs, maybe Adrian Monk isnt so crazy after all to carry wipes everywhere, haha. 1-10% of people in developed countries are infected and as much as 50-80% of the pop. in some places. Scabies definitely put a damper on my wanderlust... So clean at home : ) im so careful in my clinic now, wear gloves to palpate and inspect patients. Anyways, give that Mom a break. She was being helpful, sheesh!

No one has yet to mention how much the tea tree oils BURNS!! I poured one ounce into my bath and lasted less than 10 minutes. It started out fine and I was relaxed soaking in the tub. After a short time, though, the parts of my body most affected by the mites (groin area, waist, upper side of thighs, arm pits) began to burn intensely. The box said there might be a tingling sensation so I tried to power through it but the pain became too much to bear and I had to exit the tub. I feel like the burning was a good sign though! Even though it hurt I am dying for a remedy so I will try this again tomorrow.

Hi, I have been reading every single post on scabies cures as I got them from my future step mother and I was really going through hell with these things!

I took the permithrin and it didn't appear to be working as they cleared and seemed to come back in my backside within the week. I took more and more (as I was worried about infecting people) and it seemed to keep them at bay, I then took ivermectin tablets first lot then 7 days later with permithrin(lyclear), we cleaned our flat everyday from the moment we realised, bagged our beds and furniture and bleached all day, let off 3 pemithrin bombs, washed everything and dried in hot dryer for min 30 minutes each day, washed clothes and soaked in tea tree oil and boiling hot water and washed toilet seat with bleach after every use. It cost a fortune! I seemed to be getting new nodules coming up on my behind again and on my arms. I was devastated. I then tried bleach baths with hydrogen pyroxide and then borax baths with hydrogen peroxide, and covered myself with clove oil and olive oil. The clove oil burned so badly it was terrible.

I then finally was referred to a dermatologist and he checked everything and said I didn't have scabies at all, by the way you cant see them at all, they are very very small and you can't see them running and they are not black, that must be something else, I was advised the new nodules coming to the surface and the severe itching as an allergic reaction to the permithrin, the sever itching and crawling feeling in my backside was also due to burning it with the soaks I was doing and the clove oil and the allergic reaction, so I stopped everything and then tried to repair my completely damaged skin. It is working, the bits I saw in the bath as I drained the water were dead skin cells, my backside is finally healing and I can now see where I have burnt it, and my nodules are disappearing. My major concern that the scabies weren't dying was incorrect, I had a severe allergic reaction to the permithrin and then I was burning my skin off with the bath soaks. I have been told the nodules may continue to show for up to a year as I have sensitive skin and I have damaged it so badly. I think I was going a little crazy and to be honest I was trying everything.

Once I stopped damaging my skin I have started to repair. My skin on my backside is now peeling off which is causing the itch. So please listen to your dermatologist, he has a microscope and could see if there were any burrows or scabies, there weren't, and I also had skin scrapings all on the new nodules that were appearing, all were clear and to be honest he was correct. the ivermectin tablets worked, so when you are diagnosed as clear, keep ensuring you clean thoroughly and ensure that you cant be reinfested. Do not visit people to infect them as it is just not a nice thing to do to anybody. And have hope that your skin is just repairing itself and has had an allergic reaction. I have read my story from 5 people on these forums, and I am hoping my story will help other people like me experiencing an allergic reaction to the pesticides to trust that you are free of these awful things and that you don't have to have bleach baths and burn your skin to get rid of them. Also tea tree oil did sooth the itch, but the clove oil has to be diluted as it burnt me so very badly.

I've been trying essential oils... Just amazing. Experimenting on how to use but ingredients are: clove oil, sweet orange oil, tea tree oil, neem oil, grapeseed or coconut oil used as a base oil. Apply hand sanitizer as base then add others. The creatures come out of your skin if they're there.

Contracted scabies from a older family member in a retirement community who was not showering regularly. Started feeling the sensation of something running under my skin. Two treatments of Permethin had been ineffective, sulfur baths and sulfur showers and creams, helpful but not 100% effective. Tonight I showerd with sulfur soap then tried a layer of antibacterial w/aloe, mixed grapeseed oil with clove oil ~ applied a layer ~ mixed grapeseed other with sweet orange oil ~ applied ~ next tree oil ~ lastly neem. Don't know if this is the most effective order but OMG within a couple of minutes, blue/gray threadlike strands were coming out of my pores. Get ready you can feel them coming to the surface. Grabbed my twezers to take a look there were at least 50-60 of these over the next 30 minutes coming out of my skin. Better out than in, I guess... Just amazing ~ for you non-believers ~ believe. Wish I could post the picture of the bodies on the tissue. Can't wait to find a microscope of some sort. YIKES! I will be doing this treatment daily for a while. Incredible find.....

After reading everythig on this site I compiled my own attack. After the bath in about a cup &1/2 liquid soap add approx. 7-10 each drops peppermint oil teatree oil clove oil any citrus oil eucaliptus oil lavender oil, oregano oil. Take soap-oil mixture rub it ALL over body, sit in tub for 5-7 minutes ( no water in tub ) Do the face and scalp also. Filled tub up to rinse off and shapoo hair After drying off applied mixture of all the oils mentioned above with coconut oil all over. Thanks all you were a tremendous help. God bless P. S. Bleach

It all started when my boyfriend came home very itchy! We had two months in to our new apartment, also bought a new bedding set, new comforter set, NEW EVERYTHING! We thought perhaps the itching was brought on by dust, chemicals from his job, or something so simple as dry skin. Sadly, we were wrong! This is where our worst living nightmare came to life. The scratching got so bad and the most scratching happened when we were in bed trying to sleep and that never became possible. We would finally be able to sleep when our eyes couldn't take it any longer! In the morning is when we noticed the most bumps on my boyfriends rear and in between both our thighs. Two whole weeks went by, I would wonder to the store at night when the itching was unbearable because we both felt things crawling in a sense. SO I HAVE TRIED IT ALL! Cortizone creams, Cortaid sprays, Zyrtec Allergy pills, Benadryl. NOTHING over the counter got rid of this awful itching. Finally it came down to a night where I was so frustrated and spent hours in an emergency room to find out what my hubby and I had. SCABIES was the first word the doctor said! Thanks to Google, I later found out what this horrible parasite was. Sleep was out the window for sure! The doctor prescribed Permethrin cream. Shit sucked! Tried it twice and still nothing. So don't even waste your time with these doctor visits. One doctor prescribed me with Eurax 10% Lotion which was only available at one Rite Aid pharmacy for the price of $400! Crazy right, and no I didn't buy. Wasn't going to throw more money away for something that might have came back to haunt me.

So thanks to all the research online, I came across here. Read everyones stories and let me tell you, I know how it feels to have these disgusting things crawling around in your skin. It's mortifying and I will ever be the same.

When I came home from the first doctor visit I rushed to have everything washed in HOT water. I began to start washing piece by piece every single clothing we had and that became impossible. So now we have collected only a few pieces of clothing that we can wear over and over after washing over and over, manly pj's because we have been confined to these apartment walls. Every other piece of clothing and blanket I put in plastic bags tightly sealed and in front of the sun. They have to be on the skin to survive right? In those bags they will stay for a week so they can die completely!

I started up my bath and dropped a cup of bleach with the hottest water our bodies could take, following with sitting in there for a good 15-20 minutes. Washed our bodies with Sulfur soap and a all natural lavender soup to rinse off with. And when we got out we lightly dried ourselves and again rubbed some more bleach and water mixer, applying more amounts in the places where we both needed the most. I slept through the night for the first time in a month after doing this. Minor itches here and there, yes. The results are there, BLEACH is the cure for these things. Constant day to day cleaning of everything in your home and everything you touch. We washed and cleaned the carpets as an obsession that maybe they were all over the carpet. Now everything I clean I wipe down with bleach!

At first I found all of this very tiring but it's a routine one literally has to make part of their life to get rid of this condition. I have never came across with anyone besides my boyfriend and myself who has experienced this and I don't ever wish it upon anyone!

Right now we are going through the baths and constant cleaning to fight these off and little by little I know these suckers will give up with my "bleaching baths," as I like to call them.

I hope this is helpful to some like it was so very helpful to me! Many good lucks go out the the people experiencing this and trying to find ways to get rid of these suckers. Above all have faith that things will get better and that this will pass:)

thanks to original post dated 11/9/2010 I tweaked the recipe.

SKIN TREATMENT RECIPE (can be used as an All Natural Scabies treatment)

Ingredients needed:

  • Grocery store: Grapeseed Oil (by Olive Oil)
  • Instant Hand Sanitizer w/ Aloe
  • Coconut Oil Hair conditioner (in the hair section with Afro-American hair products)
  • . 3 fl oz Tea Tree Oil
  • . 5 fl oz Sweet Orange essential Oil
  • . 5 fl oz Clove Bud essential Oil
  • 1 fl oz Neem Oil
  • Neem Oil Bar of Soap

MIX:

  1. get a used water bottle or container same size of 16 oz. fill half full of Grapeseed Oil
  2. Add 3 drops of each; tt, orange, clove and neem oils. Shake well

Half hour before bed get naked. Spread following products from chin line and hair line down. (may need partner to help spread this in unreachable areas). Sanitizer all over, in creases too including private areas. follow with oil mixture, then coat with coconut oil. Walk or stand around for about 30 minutes until absorbed

If treating for Scabies, you can actually look down and where they were not before, you can see gray specs on the skin in places appear (dead bugs)

After 30 minutes, throw on undies, sweat pants and long sleeve thin shirt to sleep in. You want to sleep in your bed overnight with mixture on.

In morning take shower, gather all sheets regardless then wash dirty clothes, and disinfect house (if scabies). Use Neem soap to wash with in shower. If you are concerned about your hair, add few drops of Neem oil to shampoo. Repeat in 3 days after first treatment, then weekly for 3 weeks. Mix ingredients as needed.

Great for dry skin. Mixture actually makes you feel energized. My kids and I did this for scabies, I tried it first time doing it for 30 mins then washing off. Yes you can, if you look closely see the dead bugs if your eyesight is good.

It was more effective following same directions like the Premethrin as far as leaving it on overnight except this was all natural. We repeated treatment after 3 days then weekly for 3 weeks and cleaned everything in the house.

Bleach and Water

This does work! Bleach and water is the cure. After soaking in a bath mixed with bleach and peroxide for 10-15 min and watch it loosen "whatever was coming off" to the surface was absolutely amazing. It gives your skin a slight tingly feeling almost like little buggies are running along your skin, then little air bubbles are released. Not sure exactly what was happening but I can tell you whatever was being terminated by the bleach wasn't on my skin anymore.

Like the earlier post say, it probably is a little bad for your skin, since it does dry it out quite a bit, but using a lotion afterwards solved that.

I've only done it one night, but I can say it's working because my husband and I have been fighting it for countless months and this is the most effective new treatment we've found. I woke up this morning (AFTER THE VERY FIRST NIGHT OF SOAKING) with not one new bite. At least as of lunch when I'm posting this from my desk.

The true key is a reduction in the number of live mites in your environment.

4/1 water/bleach EVERYTHING. It is diluted enough as to not leave spots on fabric. When I say everything I mean everything, all the time, always. If you can imagine. Everytime you think about it spray something with the solution or wipe it with a disinfectant. One of at all times was carrying the bottle as we went about our nightly routine spraying and cleaning everything we touched. You will begin to realize why you haven't been able to get rid of it.

You have to keep with it, it is awful. You come home from one job, just to start another one.

Steps to follow if you can't come up with something else you think if better:

1) fill bath with hottest water you can stand, add 1 cup of bleach and 1/2 peroixde. SIT, RELAX, FEEL THE FIZZLE. 10-15 min

2) This step is optional, but if you worry about the drying effects on your skin I would considered adding this.

Take a shower with oatmeal soap, tea tree oil soap, aveeno, etc. Something you find that soothes your skin. This will help the skin heal from the bleach you just sat in. The peroxide does this while sitting in the bath. At this point I was not itch, except for my very top of my shoulders that I would not get in the bath tub cause I live in a small apartment with a small tub.

3) Air dry. While I was still wet and standing in the bathroom I sprayed my skin with the bleach/water solution to be left on over night. I think air drying keeps it off the towels. the little buggers are scurrying and dying so giving them a way off your bleached body is letting them live to fight another day.

4) I went to bed naked but I understand that's not for everybody. That way there was no where they could hide. I treated my bedding, mattress, box spring, and my body. Everywhere they crawled was treated.

When you wake up you will feel the difference and be way less itchy if you still itch at all.

I also wanted to add that before I ran the bath I sprayed by bed with the solution because I knew I was going directly to bed. It was really wet, but it dries by the time the whole bathing routine is done. Surprisingly, it didn't leave that much of a smell of bleach. At least not enough to make you not keep doing it. They are most active at night so if you can survive the night without getting any new bites you know you are killing them off.

You are winning!

Treating your house is what takes the most out of you. You have to vaccum everyday. Also spray your car and work environment if you can. But definately your car's interior with the solution. If you can help it sit on hard furniture that can be wiped down when you get up. We don't sit on the couch, we got 2 plastic chairs. TREAT YOUR FURNITURE WITH THE SOLUTION QUITE HEAVILY. Since you probably sat in the same spot everyday for months before and while you were infected before you started EFFECTIVILY treating.

Good Luck!

Borax, Hydrogen Peroxide, Noxzema

I got scabies after weeks thinking it was hard water from moving to the UK. It got to the point where I became suspect after developing some bumps on my penis. I thought maybe my new girlfriend had given me an STD. Went to the doctor, he thought it was Herpes but I was skeptical as I trusted her that she was telling the truth about her sexual history. I did much research and found I exhibited all the symptoms of Scabies. I went to the doctor who prescribed me a cream but turns out it was discontinued in the UK and no where to be found. I came to the US as I had some family matters to deal with and could not let this stop me. I got the cream here thank god however I have read this website back to front multiple times and thought to combine measures.

Last night was my first treatment as follows:

Hot bath in Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide, splash of listerine, body lotion, and lemon juice. The lemon juice stung like a bitch but it definitely raised all of my burrows to then dive back into the bath

I used NIX on my scalp

after the bath, I airdryed. Then, I applied the cream all over my body. when that dried, I applied a hair gel and borax paste.

Now I wait. Today, I feel allright. The bumps are red but not itchy at all. I haven't had the need to scratch since my bath but the recurrence posts and leaving me paranoid. Today I was finally able to get my hands on Clove Oil, Tea Tree Oil, and Eucalyptus Soap with Tea Tree Oil. Tonight, I plan on doing the following while scrubbing out the 24 hour cream...

hot bath with borax and hydrogen peroxide

lemon juice application

readmister bath with the soap

once airdried, applying a mix of the Clove and Tea Tree Oil mixed in with body lotion

I'll keep you all posted as to my progression here as it seems this is a battle where we as sufferers need to stick together. This shit SUCKS.

WORKS! My twins had scabies from the day care weeks ago and we learned Permethrin is not what I want to expose my bpys to. So I researched on the Earth Clinic website and found this recipe but I changed it a little. 1. Wet skin with natural hand sanitizer made with Thymol extract)
2)first layer with ORANGE OIL
3)second layer raw organic COCONUT OIL.
4) third layer TEA TREE OIL (now brand)
5) within 5 minutes the scabies literally crawled out by the hundreds (scary),
6) leave oil mix on skin for at least 30 minutes,
7) soak in shower and watch the mites run down the drain, and wash with Sulpher soap. 8) disinfect entire home with 1 percent hydrogen peroxide spray and Borax solution (can also spray skin with this). Use borax to spindle on carpet and then vacuum a few days later. 9) Rinse and Repeat
10) RELAX! ... Please follow these 10 easy steps and soon you will be posting the good news. Like I did for twin boys! No more scabies! Yaaaeeeeeee and my boys are safe from pesticide toxicity!

I want to let every know that this recipe works for scabies! We used it here on a seer of 7 year old twin boys! We included Sulpher soap and a spray of borax and hydrogen peroxide. As to the comment of "watch them crawl out" I think that was to make a point. So much safer and better than using insecticides! Everything was easy to get. I live in Livonia, Mi and there is a health food store here that has wonderful staff who helped me and told me how to use all these. Like the tea tree is so good to add a drop into my kids hair after shampoo to deter the little critters. Also coconut oil used for moisturizer and cooking, orange oil to clean my wood floors.... All these things I can use for multle purposes! I love this site and thank you for posting this recipe for scabies. Who would of knew? Coconut oil, tea, tree, orange oil, borax, Sulpher soap.... So easy and effective.

Jd, if I am the Tim you question. I used to always experience the "dryness" thing w/ tetracycline type antibiotics as opposed to the penicillin type. It's something to do w/ hydration at the cellular level. Do a few cups daily of filtered water w/ a pinch of sea salt in each to replace minerals. Steam therapy will help ease the bronchiole and the herb Mullein will soothe & heal. Take some probiotics (broad spectrum) to replace gut flora. Wait about two weeks and try the ACV again.

Your "reaction" could have something to do w/ candida die-off or herx. After yrs of debilitating struggle w/ undiagnosed fungal infection and getting worse, I tried the "foot bath zap" a few months ago and herxed for 4 days. My reaction was like yours, I became completely drained of energy and simply went into sleep mode for about 1 or 2 hrs. As for antifungal herbs, Grapefruitseed extract is the best imho. Caprylic acid or simply coconut oil is very good antifungal.

Hope this helps.

Borax, Hydrogen Peroxide, Coconut Oil

I broke out about 3 weeks ago, just because my nephew sat on my rocking chair then left with his father, only to find out that he had scabies. I never knew anything about scabies till I got it and saw the symptoms, itching around ankles, elbows wrists, inner thighs, stomach (which I found out on the computer) so I went to the doctor after 3 days of scratching, and yes I used the cream, once a week for 2 weeks, the first time I thought I was cured because their was relief for 5 days but started scratching for the next 2 days then I used it again (as per doctors instructions) but it got worse, I couldn't stand the itch and I looked at my skin and there were burrows everywhere.

So I came on here and decided to do the bleach and water, hot shower first then sprayed and it was burning for a little bit on the rashed up areas but would go away after being totally drenched in it, but I was ok and I washed it off in hot water after 10mins (I know this is way too quick but tomorrow will be longer) as I did this at 2am and need to get to bed. The results are amazing, no scratching no crawly feelings and I blow dried myself instead of using a towel, I will be carrying this bottle everywhere I go and I have even thrown everything that I have worn and slept on in the machine with bleach and hot water and putting it in the dryer, big house cleaning will be next and I will be throwing out the mats, covering furniture with plastic so it is easy to clean (after I spray it) then I will be visiting my brother and nephews and I will be spraying them too or they will not be allowed back in my house.

Homeopathy: Psorinum 30

[Slightly long, sorry] Cm from Wilmington, Nc asks: "Any other advice on this treatment for scabies?

Re: other advice on the treatment of scabies - as soon as Psorinum does its work, if the hair isn't back, you'll notice that another homeopathic miasm, the Syphilitic miasm, rears its ugly head. Some dogs seem to inherit it at birth which is responsible for the bone and nervous disorders (incessant biting, itching, barking, irritability, restlessness), black patches, rupia, sores and eczema that accompany scabies. You can approach a good homeopath or go very carefully through the symptoms and treat it with Kali iod 6x, Aur met 6x and Nitric Acid 6x.

The way I recognise the Syphilitic miasm is by the waxing and waning of the symptoms with the moon cycle - its at its worst on full moon and a few days before a thunderstorm.

I'm beginning to think that this syphilitic tendency is the primary cause that draws the fleas, mites and fungus to the body (parasites after all can't live on a healthy host). Removing the parasites without removing the primary destruction is pointless.

Psorinum clears the case if it is simple or else shows the way to the deeper problem.

I hope that helps.:)

Cm and Jo, Sorry for not replying. Yes, 2 pellets of Psorinum 30c or 30x is more than enough for 2 months. Then you can repeat it. Acts as a preventative too. I've healed about 6 dogs with scabies with Psorinum 30.

I've had a few problems with moving up to Psorinum 200 (as Peter Morell suggests) that I'll explain:

1. Psor 200 brings up very deep aggravations of hidden diseases. If they're cancerous or have a systemic infection or failing organs, you'll see their entire body throws it out onto the skin, conditions which last for months. I've come to feel a dog's life is so short that there's no justification for going deeper.

2. Psorinum has an amplified effect in the fall. It is a very powerful remedy working for months on end so be warned.

Just stick with a couple of doses of Psorinum 30 spaced 3-6 months apart and the hair should grow back easily. Don't go higher unless you have a homeopath to advice.

Hi, Recently a puppy came into my yard that was real sick. I felt so sorry for him that I took him to the vet. They gave me vitamins, antibiotic for him and sent him on his way said he just was sick that is why he was losing his hair. Well, the doc was wrong he had sarcoptic mange, which is scabies and guess who got them me. I have spent 300 dollars on this dog and my family trying to get rid of them. We ran out of money to treat the dog or ourselves so I went online looking for help. I tried the borax and peroxide that helped somewhat.

The vet gave the dog ivermectin and the borax and peroxide baths seems to help. You have to keep your bedding washed and dried everyday you need a mattress cover. Wash them in borax and hot water. I spray everything down with lice spray.

P.S. don't let pets in area until dry and cover food and water well before spray. My mom's dog drank her water after I sprayed and got real sick almost died and I didn't even spray it near the water. I vacuum everyday. My husband and I have so far been able to keep the scabies to just us and the dog. We have my special needs son and my mom and dad live with us and they have not gotten it Thank God. We started using Germ x hand sanitizer on our bodies everytime we felt a little itch we would put it on that spot on top of lice treatment shampoo we put that on at night before bed and leave on for 8 or more hours. We started to get rid of them. I slacked off for 2 days and we got reinfested really fast so we are back on the germx washing and vacuuming and lice shampoo and borax baths for pup and us and it is going away again. All I have to say is keep it up it might take a while but I believe we are on the right track I pray do not slack off- those buggers reinfest fast. ps. puppy is a white long haired 6 month old poodle that is so sweet and smart I think he is the best dog our family is ever had Now if we could just get rid of the bugs that came with him.

Best remedy yet!! I was covered from head to toe with this horrible disease. I tried two seperate all Natural programs on the internet. One with no help and the other one I just couldn't handle the smell of sulfur. It is 3 weeks later and I still smell sulfur in my clothes and towels. I then started my Permithen 5%. Two episodes a week apart with some results but not enough to make me happy or actually sleep through the nite. I then found this site after reading from another blog site that one doctor said the true way to kill the Scabies is bleach and water. The doctor said that bleach penetrates the skin and the chlorine kills the mites on contact.

I read some of these comments and decided what do I have to lose. It's been two days and I am pretty Damn happy with the results. Two days and dried up Probably 75% of the mites, just be careful it can burn a little but well worth it. I will stick with the Bleach and Water. Good Luck!

I am fully cured now! Here's an update on how I did it. I found that using sulfur daily decimated my skin. So, I mixed sulfur powder with vaseline and applied it from the neck down and then hung out, on a sheet, in front of the tv for an afternoon. I probably left the sulfur mix on for 4 hours or so.

I bought some diatemaceous earth which is a natural insecticide. I dusted my mattress, area rugs, couch, and my car with that.

I washed my linens daily and placed all of my dirty laundry in a plastic garbage bag to keep it seperate from everything else. I washed my clothing in hot water, adding borax to the wash.

I showered or bathed daily. I used Dr. Bronner's Tea Tree Oil liquid soap. I kept a small container of a mix of borax and sulfur next to the shower. I mixed it with the liquid soap and used it as a scrub.

After showering I would use an oil mixture of clove, neem, orange, and tea tree. I used vitamin e oil as the carrier oil and found that it worked better than coconut oil because it is thicker and therefore coated my skin better.

I took a hot bath in salted water every other day instead of a shower. I noticed that the salt water bath did wonders for any bites I had. I used sea salt. The improvment over the course of a week was dramatic!

I have not had any new bites in over a month. I will continue with the oil treatments and the tea tree oil soap, but have stopped using sulfur and borax as a scrub.

It is such a relief that I am cured. However, my skin is scarred and ruined from their bites. This has been such an awful experience, but I wanted to let everyone suffering know that there is light at the end of the tunnel! You can beat this!

Good luck and keep at it.

This is a life altering pest. Now I check my skin daily for anything unusual. The doctors don't understand these little invisible monsters. I've tried the internal pill and the 5% cream. Here's what worked best for me.

1) Purchase over the counter Lice treatment (1% Permethrin), Nix or store brand, RID can burn.
2) Before bath cover head and neck with Sublimed Sulfur and Petroleum Jelly or Vic's Vapor Rub mix - avoid eyes and mucous membranes.
3) Mix Neem oil-cold pressed(10 drops), Eucalyptus essential oil(10 drops), 1 tablespoon of salt and Olive oil(1/4cup) then pour into hot tub and soak for a minimum of 30 minutes
4) While in tub gently rub an ex foliating brush from your toes to your neck to get the oil mix to cover your entire body. - If they are on your neck and head rub there as well.
5) Wash completely off with Peppermint Castle soap.
6) Dry off some but stay damp, rub in Nix from head to toe, leave on for 8-10 hours. During this time use a blow dryer on areas that itch. If you feel a burning sensation Wash off immediately.
7) Re-apply Nix a second time for another 8-10 hours and repeat steps 2-6.
8) Worn clothing should be placed in a plastic bag for washing in Hot water and adding 1 tablespoon of Borax w/ soap powder to each load
9) Iron clothing before wearing, wipe down everything you've touched with a damp hot rag and detergent, vacuum often/w heppa filter. Steam clean furniture and bedding.
10) If you see a spot on your skin start to itch and see a red dot you can also use Clove Bud Essential oil and a Que tip applied directly to the spot and hold for a minute. It kills the buggers dead. Be very careful with this oil, it will burn your skin.

I did all of the hygiene ideas recommended--washed all my clothes and linens in hot water with anti- bacterial soap, threw my bedspread in the trash, etc. And I did 2 rounds of the medicine my doctor gave me-- Permethrin.

However, I honestly think the bleach cleanser (bleach and water) I tried one night was the actual cure. It stopped the itching immediately and after applying it directly to my skin for a couple of nights, the mites are gone. This has only gone on for a week for me. My heart goes out to those of you who have been dealing with it so long. I'm a health care professional and have been around scabies-infected people for years but never got it until now. I was infected with scabies from having sex with a man who does not have the symptoms. He must just be carrying it. Anyway, I don't care if the bleach is bad for your skin as long as I'm cured. This has been a nightmare. Good luck everybody.

How to get rid of scabies/mites. I had a bad attack, with bites all over. I went to the chemist who gave me a cream to put all over my body after a shower and leave on for 24 hours, but still had the crawling sensation. A cleaning guru in Australia had mentioned that orange juice is a cure for head lice, so I bought an orange and washed myself with it (undiluted) including my hair. I haven't had a bite since. If I felt 'something' I bought some roll on personal insect spray and rolled it all around where the sensation was, because I was so badly bitten there would have been extra mites hanging around. Have not been bitten in 2 days. Apparently it's the citrus juice - it gets right under your skin. Grapefruit and lemon juice are apparently better.

There are two types of scabies, but it is the same "bug. " The first type is simple to cure with a cream or pill from the doctor or whatever method you use. The second type is crusted scabies in the beginning stages. A person with an imunno deficiency in their system, like herpes complex 1, which is a cold sore, or blisters on the fingers or anywhere on the body. Also, warts may also cause immune problems. As the scabies multiplies, the person feels no itch because he is not able to detect the chemical igE that the scabie releases with feces into the host's pore. The scabies multiply by the hundreds of thousands on the person's skin and no one is the wiser. The person may have some patch of eczema on their body, such as an elbow, face or hair.

Fungus creams cure these patches and no one is the wiser. As the scabies multiply, the person may sometimes have a pin prick bite feeling with no visible bug to bite. The person may sometimes have itchy skin, but lotion heals that. There may be places on the body where the person thinks he has some type of clear wart or mole. It hurts to the touch, but is not otherwise bothersome. The "pimple" is a scabies nest with hundreds of thousands of scabies and eggs in it. The bug continues to multiply until, one day, the igE is too much for the person's bloodstream and he begins to feel the itch, the crawling and the biting these scabies cause. The doctor prescribes the cream and it does not work. The dermatologist says he has herpes simplex or shingles and gives him steroids, which will definitely worsen the scabies condition. The scabies live in the skin and, as the years pass, begin to make brand new nests in each pore of the skin. The scabies are everywhere, in the legs, in the back, in the arms, in the face and even definitely in the hair. This condition is the beginning stages of crusted scabies. There are pictures on the internet of horrible cases of crusted scabies in the last stage, which causes the person to look deformed. The problem is finding a doctor who understands that the condition 1)is highly contagious 2) needs the pill ivermectin or its equvalent 3) needs a cream to be applied for at least three weeks and maybe 6 weeks 4) will require treatment for a long period of time and especially a doctor who understands that all the family needs to be treated, even if they do not have symptoms. If someone has had scabies for years, many people may have been infected and should be informed to prevent an epidemic.

I found Eucerin for very dry skin or Equate, vaseline, diluted amonia, moist tar (a drugist can mix this without a prescription), something sugary that dries on the skin like molasses or syrup and lots of showers helped me through the hell I suffered. Do not take baths, let them go down the drain. Protect others by covering with clothes from head to toe, vacuum very often daily, wash anything worn even for a minute. Put the clothes in a plastic bag to carry to the laundry room to wash or stick in the dryer for 30 min. Don't hug anybody, or touch anybody. Everywhere you walk is contaminated. Crusted scabies has so many scabies, they are visual to the naked eye and their eggs get in the fingers, which is very contagious. To find out more, Gaylestevenson(at)ymail.com. I welcome any questions or comments.

Bleach and water is for sure the way to go for instant relief. I mixed bleach and water 4:1 ratio aprox, and noticed that my itch had subsided almost immediately! How awesome is that?! Also the second time I treated my skin this way I added about a tablespoon of olive oil to the mix, this seemed to lessen the harshness of straight bleach on exposed skin and open cuts from scratching. Thank you for the advice people of the internet! I love you all!

When my wife had same symptoms then we checked the internet and find this site. Thank you to all of you for your posts. I have to say that ivermactin was the only solution to get rid of it and one dose is sufficient. I also bought Borax from Walmart and cleaned our entire house hold with bleach and borax for ten days. No doctor will prescribe ivermactin unless you push and find one doctor might write the prescription. The only place you may find Ivermactin is Smiths Pharmacy at Yonge-Lawrance location. No other drug store have it. As I said the bleach, borax and kwalada lotion does not cure. Ivermactin did work for me and my wife.

Folks, I consider myself pretty medically minded but this type of scabies was quite difficult to eradicate. Read the article from Australia and if you're ready to try anything, go to a livestock feed store and get oral Ivermectin paste 1.87% for only 10 bucks (5 treatments). It is for cattle and horses but as long as you follow your weight calibration, you will be fine. The article suggests very difficult scabies require oral Iver on days 1, 2, 5, 6, 15, 16, 22 and 29. For those of you using essential oils, be sure to use "therapeutic" grade oils. Also be careful of clove oil-it is a "hot" oil and be irritating to skin. Also always do a patch test first.

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak
Posted by Hayden (Nz) on 01/12/2012

My battle against these creatures was a full blown chemical assault. Borax was used for cleaning clothes, and also combined with hydrogen peroxide to mist around the house and on my skin after a shower. I also used orange oil extract, clove oil, coconut oil and two different types of chemical scabies treatments I alternated between, and used twice over 3 weeks. (be careful as they can be an accumulative poison if used too much) My concoction of chemicals cost around 120 us dollars, but was well worth it. (the two treatments I used were 'Derbac M' and 'Benhex Cream')

I actually got a little depressed after reading about the resilience these vermin can have. I've never done so much laundry :)

Anyone waging this war has my sympathy, but keep up with the cleaning and you'll preserver. I met my nemesis face to face at work as I dug 5 or 6 them out of my hand under a microscope. Needless to say I kept my secret quiet whilst worrying that I'd pass them on to someone else. I think there's a automatic association people make between scabies and uncleanliness/bad hygiene. I know I did, but to my relief I learned this isn't the case.

I'm contributing my story due to the appreciation I have for the advice people have given. I'm itching just thinking about the whole ordeal.

I had an allergic reaction to the mites which would bring up itchy bumps all over my stomach / legs. Try not to scratch these as they are not the mites, and will leave you with red bumps all over the show. I took antihistamines to alleviate the irritation, and in turn make life bearable.

Good luck :)

Hello Natural DR, Can you tell me what Dr Bronners product you used? I only know his magic soap, which doesn't seem to be appropriate here.

Thank you.

Multiple Remedies
Posted by Pregnant Mamma With Scabies Scare (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) on 01/06/2012

I am 24 weeks pregnant. We had relatives come to visit our home and after they left they informed us they found out they had scabies. My husband, our three year old daughter, and I watched our bodies the next few weeks for scabies signs and were relieved to find none.

Then about 6 weeks after their visit, I started to notice itchy bumps on my stomach. I freaked out. I found this website and scoured it for natural remedies due to the fact that I did NOT want to use the prescription cream while pregnant. I had read many facts online about how it hadn't been tested thoroughly on pregnant women to have a definite answer as to whether it was completely safe (although the doctor said it was... I didn't believe him). I take my pregnancies very seriously and did not want to cause any harm to my unborn baby. My husband and daughter never showed any signs of scabies but we had them use the cream anyways as a precautionary. Here is what I did for a natural cure for myself:

1. I took a bath 2-3 times a day in hot water for 20 minutes with 1 1/2 cups Borax and 1 1/2 cups hydrogen peroxide. Sometimes I added a cup of citrus mouthwash.

*Before getting into the bath I put my dirty clothes in a plastic bag and had my new clean clothes ready on the counter.

2. While in the bath I scrubed borax mixed with a bit of water in a small cup all over my body (like a body scrub) then washed off.

3. I drained the bathwater then took a shower. I used Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo on my head because of the sulfur it has.

4. I got out of the shower and air dried.

5. I used a 6 oz. Water bottle and filled it with 1/3 borax, 1/3 hydrogen peroxide, and 1/3 warm water (to dissolve the Borax). Then I sprayed it over my entire body then air dried.

6. I used a mixure in a bottle of 10 drops Tea Tree Oil, 10 drops Neem Oil, and 10 drops Clove oil, and filled the rest of the small bottle with Olive oil (as a carrier oil to not irritiate my skin). I rubbed it all over my body generously.

7. I put on my clean clothes and immediately wiped up the shower with disinfectant wipes and bathroom cleaner. I took the bag of dirty clothes and towel to the laundry room.

8. Every morning I stripped the bed linens first thing and put them in plastic bags. I put them in the washing machine with hot water, detergent, and 1/2 cup Borax, then dried on high heat. (I also used vinal plastic mattress covers under the linens so I could just wipe them down with disinfectant wipes.)

9. I never wore the same thing twice (and I didn't let my husband or daughter either). I was constantly washing something all day long. I washed blankets and hand towels, pillows, you name it.

10. Anything I didn't need immediately and was too difficult to wash I bagged up and put in the garage for about a week.

11. I sprinkled Borax all over the carpets, let sit for an hour, then vacuumed up. (I only did this once, but vacuumed daily.)

12. I disinfected the bathrooms, kitchen, doornobs, light switches, computer keyboards and mouse as much as possible.

13. I tried not to wear a coat or mittens or hat when going places so I had less to wash.

14. I used a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and warm water to spray all over the furniture, then vacuumed.

15. I prayed every minute of the day for strength and courage to keep pressing on even when I was tired.

After a few days of this regiment my itchy spots vanished. I continued for about a week for good measure. (I also had my husband and daughter take baths every day with 10 drops Tea Tree Oil).

The only problem I had was I kept finding tiny pin prick spots on my body (looked like teeny drops of blood). I freaked out thinking I was getting more scabies even though the bigger itchy spots were gone. The dermatologist assured me that those pin prick spots were blood vessels due to hormonal changes in my pregnant body. These could easily be confused with tiny scabies dots- so I was relieved to find out they were natural and no problem.

I will never know for sure if my itchy spots were scabies or not, but I for SURE did not want to risk it. All the hassle and stress was worth it to me if I caught scabies in the early stages. It was very stressful for me as a pregnant women worrying about my baby and finding natural methods to help. I hope this post helps any pregnant woman out there who thinks she may have scabies or any other type of mite!

I also started drinking a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in hot water with honey 2-3 times a day for good measure. I read it helps to balance the PH of the body (making you an unwanted host for a parasite) and has many other health benefits (like bowel movement regularity). I also stopped eating junk food and more fresh fruits and veggies.

For anyone dealing with scabies, I sympathize with you greatly. It stressed me out so much and no one can understand the emotional torment you go through in this situation. God bless you!

Antibacterial Soap
Posted by Sick Of Scratching (Uk, Midlands) on 12/10/2011

My mum in a really lovely care home contracted scabies back in july, after several visits from the GP a diagnosis was reached and treatment commenced. - she is still infected and so are three members of my family! - we have tried lots of the above tea tree oil, coconut oil, neem oil, and sulphar soap and bathing twice a day (doesnt help but makes me feel clean) also washing everything after one wear including used towels after bathing - all the bedding washed on a daily basis - all very time consuming!

After some big scratching the other night and my skin feeling like it was crawling I decided to use a clothing lint roller (like selotape for clothes) but I ran it over the severely itchy areas on my body which felt a good bit less itchy and also collected any little critters roaming around on the surface (RESULT) - I am now taking this a little futher after rollering I am applying either sticky dressing pads to major bite areas or bits of microporous tape across the little bumps cause the little buggers once caught on the tape cannot move including any new ones crawling out. Also lint roller very good for going over soft furnishings after hoovering to collect any strays - quite effective up to now. - early days will keep you posted.

Clove Oil
Posted by Njnit (Newark, Nj) on 12/08/2011

I think I contracted scabies from a chair that was given to me. I tossed that chair in the trash and ran to my doctor who prescribed permethrin. It seemed to work well and I was bite free for about 3 weeks and then started getting bites again, although no where near as bad as the first time. I seem to have stopped it from spreading this time by applying a mixture of coconut oil, clove oil, neem oil, and tea tree oil. Of course, I am cleaning my home thoroughly with a 50/50 bleach mixture and washing my clothing/bedding/towels with borax. I have also been using a scrub made from citrus soap and borax in the shower.

I mixed a big batch of oil and apply it two or three times daily all over my body. (My husband says I smell like a spice rack.)

I use:

8 oz coconut oil

1 oz clove oil

4 dropper fulls neem oil

.5 oz tea tree oil

I also added two heaping teaspoons of sulfur powder.

(I bought everything online.)

The oil warms the skin almost as if you applied "icy hot" or some other muscle relaxing cream. I like it but, others may find it too hot in which case you may want to lessen the amount of clove oil.

The neem oil and sulfur smell awful, but the other oils mask the smell. Based on what I have read on this site, I will probably add some orange oil to the mixture for good measure.

It's too soon to say that I'm cured, but I seem to have stopped it from spreading. Although no one else in my family has caught this, I'm going to begin treating them with a milder version of the killer oil. Better to be safe than sorry!

Good luck all!

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak

-DAY 1 of treatment,

-Acute infestation, possibly under a week, 3 people (one is a 3yr old), two adults showing signs of infestation.

So about two weeks ago a friend of my wife possibly brought over some friends of her own (scabies). Though her friend claims it is psoriasis all of the indicators point to scabies. All of the girls friends within the last few months have broken out with a rash. Now two weeks after the girl spends the night on our couch, my wife is diagnosed with scabies and two days later I am. It started as just a few bumps we assumed were a reaction to an antibiotic, then it spread, waving and waning. Thighs, then hips, then back, then legs, now face. Then we found out about the girls other friends breaking out. I immediately began research upon my wifes diagnosis, spent roughly 12 hours of straight research.

Her doctor prescribed her Ivermectin, , my doctor did as well, I am not real fond of the idea of using such a powerful pesticide like chemical in my body. Besides, we have a 3 year old and we are sure not putting it in her , so we are exploring safer alternatives first.

Although I was hesitant to bathe (and my wife is extremely sceptical) with Borax, which some places inisist is toxic. I decided it couldnt be any less safe externally bathing in the stuff than digesting/metabolizing pesticide.

Tonight I soaked for about 30 minutes in a bath(super hot) of a little more than half a cup of borax and a bottle of 3% hydrogen peroxide (walmart didnt have the 35%). Letting each different part of my body soak for 10 minutes at a time, legs, chest/back neck, face /head/scalp. BTW I did spot test the Borax as I suggest anyone do before spreading/bathing with a unfamiliar chemical across a large surface area of your body. I just started showing epidermal indicators (bumps) today and my wife 3 days ago, so I do not believe our infestation to be to severe. We are cleaning the house thoroughly with the Borax as well. My daughter was a little itchy last night, but otherwise exhibits no signs at the moment.

The original suspected carrier continues to proclaim to be diagnosed with psoriasis or egzima, with recent visit to hospital (ER), and months ago by a dermatologist.

I'll keep yall updated on the effectiveness of treatment.

Multiple Remedies

After battling these little unseen monsters I finally was able to get rid of them. I initially thought they were nits but seeing that the lice treatments had not effects towards my symptoms and oddly had some eggs that were nothing like nit eggs it came to my concern that it was something different after our dog was confirmed to have a type of manges that is contagious towards humans and once it hops over it is considered scabies.

I desperately searched online and picked a little bit of here and there to find an immediate solution to the irritating issue. I was already following the regulations of making sure everything was thoroughly washed and dried in 2 cycles to make sure we did not continue to have issues but found out it was different procedures when it is diagnosed as scabies.

I faced my head down in the sink with hot water running and first grabbed the bottle of hydrogen peroxide and spread it evenly throughout my scalp to make sure the pores were open then I rubbed Borax all over head making sure I made the point to rub in (with gloves) thoroughly let it stand about 2 minutes before dumpling chlorine free clorox all over making sure to hit the scalp rubbed more borax in left the solution on for about 5 minutes still making sure I was facing down in the sink. After that I grabbed the citrus mouthwash (target brand) and put it all throughout scalp and hair (yes it does burn all over and more where you have scabs) left it on for 6 minutes and then washed roughly with steamy hot water (up to what you can tolerate) and then applied the Rosemary oil based shampoo by fairy tales lathered it in and washed out with warm water. I could definitely feel the difference instantly. I blow dried my hair thoroughly and went soundly to sleep. Thank you for the best solutions found on this website woo hoo!

I sprayed everything down with chlorine free bleach/ borax solution with a little water and washed all clothes and bedding with borax and have yet to see any type of reinfecting ;0) what a relief. It has been 2 weeks of nothing yupie!

O yea and by the way the tried getting to my hands and arms and they did manage to get some bites but were unsuccessful because I threw hydrogen peroxide left it on for 30 seconds rinsed then rubbed borax left it on for another 30 seconds then lastly threw the citrus mouthwash and the marks and redness went away.. The best solution ever!

Clove Oil
Posted by J. (Gold Coast, Qld, Australia) on 11/12/2011

I just came across the article called "Clove oil can be treatment for itchy rash" which discusses a new study from the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, Australia. In the article the researches discuss how they discovered clove oil is effective in killing the scabies mite.

"Researchers tested the clove oil, nutmeg oil and ylang ylang oil on two different types of mites in the laboratory to see how many died from contact with the oils.

'We tested the oils on the mites, and found that clove oil killed all the mites within 15 minutes'."

"The importance of this research is that the scabies mite has become increasingly resistant to current treatments, especially in Northern Australia where scabies is common. Our research aims to identify naturally occurring compounds that can combat scabies and prevent resistance from occurring."

In my opinion it needs to be diluted with a carrier oil such as coconut oil before applied to the body (we tried to stay at the 6% strength that was mentioned in the article to being 100% effective in killing both normal scabies as well as scabies that have built up a resistance to permethrin, within 15 minutes).

Up until now we've been using borax & hydrogen peroxide baths twice a day, neem oil and tea tree in coconut oil and applied after the baths, DE (Diatomaceous earth) and borax on the carpets and DE on the car seats, plus washing everything in borax and hot water and changing clothes after each bath, clean clothes in bags, dirty clothes in separate bags until washed (all remedies learned thanks to this site! ).

I just read about the research on Clove Oil today so that has been added to our coconut oil as of now. Not sure when we will know when the scabies are finally gone, have been at it for 9 days now, will give it a couple of days with the Clove Oil just to be sure. Does anyone know if these remedies will actually sink into the skin and kill the female mite? Or will it just kill the babies as they hatch from the eggs and come to the surface?

I hope this helps!
