Natural Approaches for Scabies: Exploring Effective Remedies

We had a recent scabies scare from my sister's daughter. Once we received the news that everyone in the home had to be treated, I started researching to find out what can I do to get rid of these things or better yet, do not let my son get infected. It was hard work and expensive, but it worked so far. NO ITCHING, NO RASHES, NO SCARRING, NO MORE PANICS! Here is what I did: FIRST, I PRAYED TO GOD FOR HEALING. Then I did all the rest of this stuff.

Night 1: I used the Permathrin that the doctor gave my sister to give to the family. I used it from neck to toes. I also used it on my son. I went and brought a spray bottle and labeled it "BLEACH. " I took all the decorations (towels, rugs, toilet cover, etc. ) out the bathroom. I made sure the bathroom was BARE. I sprayed the entire bathroom with bleach (all around the toilet, tub, shower, etc. ). Next morning, I showered, put on tea tree oil mixed with Jergen's lotion and went to work. Before I went to work, I put all the linen I slept on and all my clothing in the washing machine in hot water, borax, and liquid detergent. After work, I went and brought a mattress cover to put on the mattress.

Night 2: I took another spray bottle and did part bleach and part water. I sprayed myself down with the bleach and water. I made sure my entire body was covered in bleach and water. I DID NOT TAKE A BATH. I let the solution soaked in my skin overnight. I put fresh linen on my bed. I took the linen that I washed that morning and put it in the laundry room in a basket and let it sat there for four days. Next morning I took a shower and washed with OLIVE OIL and DIAL soap. I DID NOT DRY OFF WITH A TOWEL. Instead, I air dried. Afterwards, I sprayed myseld with Peroxide and put on the Jergens lotion mixed with Tea tree oil. I took the linen off the bed and put it in the washing machine. I sprayed the mattress cover down with bleach and water and wiped it down.

Night 3: I took a bath in Borax, Epsom Salt, and Peroxide. What I did was got another spray bottle and filled it up with peroxide. I sprayed my entire body with Peroxide, then I sat in a tub of hot water with Epsom Salt and Peroxide. I used the antibacterial soap and Borax to wash areas I thought was infected. Again, I did not towel dry. I air dried, then I applied the Tea Tree oil and Jergens lotion. I put fresh linen on the bed and took the other linen out the washing machine and sat in in the laundry room for four days.

Night 4: I took another spray bottle and did part bleach and part water.

Night 5: I used the Permathrin treatment again.

Night 6: I did the bleach treatment again.

The reason I did this is because you have to continue to fight these things every night for a while to get rid of the the live ones and the unborn ones. I did this for 10 days. Everytime, I used the bathroom, I bleached everything down. I also went to Wal-Mart and brought Hartz tick and flea spray. It has 28% Permathrin in it. I sprayed all my furniture down and my carpets. It also stops reinfestation for 14 days. My son, boyfriend, and I was staying in my room for a couple of nights until the rest of the home was being treated. Then, we moved to the guest bedroom until my room was being treated with the Hartz tick and flea spray. I also set aside five (5) sheet sets for my bed. Every morning, I would wash the linen in hot water and dry in a hot dryer, but I would not reuse it for five days. The sheets were taking turns. Also whenever a new bump would appear. I would used Hand Santizer and get a piece of tissue and rub the hand sanitizer real hard into the bump. Then I wil follow up and spray it lightly with the part bleach and part water.

This is a lot of work, but I have not had anymore problems at all. BUT to be on the safe side, Every 3-5 days now, I spray myself with Peroxide and Borax from neck down to my feet to make sure they are all gone and because I am so paranoid of them returning. Hope this information help some people suffering from this stuff.

Well, I thought I allergic to my yards of new material when I discovered we all were infected by scabies.... What a nightmare!!! The prescription doesn't work!!! The pharmaceutical company for the medication most likely set off the epidemic for profit. But I tried Bleach, the prescription medication etc... I did bath using Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide on all the children all 5 of them, my husband and myself. We seen little black specs in the water and if you look at a scabie photo they look like that... Anyways, we are sticking with washing everything in borax and hot water and bathing in the solution for the next couple of days and nobody has had an allergic reaction. The itching stopped immediately and it was a relief.... and for those of you lying about the borax and hydrogen peroxide treatment tell your pharmaceutical company to quit profitting off the misery of others and step up the medication dosage to eliminate the problem....

Hi
I have finally figured out how to beat the scabies with ease.

1. Buy the Kleen Green big gallon 128oz so that you can soak and spray your environment.

2. Buy 20 mule borax or any other borax to soak clothes for 15 minutes, add a touch of kleen green too and then wash and dry on high heat.

3. Buy a scrub cloth to scrub your body.. u can also get sulfur soap if u like.

4. Get some diacotomus earth and put on your carpet the proper way... Check instructions first as this thing is very dusty, my vacuum turned white once I tried to vacuum. So check instructions on proper use and get dust mask if needed.

5. Be positive and say an affirmation everyday like healing and health is my birth right... Or everyday in everyway I am getting better and better. Say a prayer every morning and night, there is a spiritual aspect to this I believe.

6. Drink teas that detoxify your body, or find a way to detoxify your body and do not eat junk food at all...!

7. Thats it... U will be cured within a week or 2 if you are diligent. Also checkout scabies killer.com as they have an oil formula that is effective, or if u like just buy what they are offering as it is what I have figured out through trial and error and research online... They have a money back guarantee... So thats a nice thing :)... Ur choice... Also try the above at your own, risk... I dont want u to sue me for trying to help you...

I sprayed a 4/1 mixture of water/bleach on my scabies patches, and for good measure, I covered the worst areas with Saran Wrap which I left on all night. I figured it would suffacate the little buggers. A little tape kept the wrap in place. Next morning there was a noticeable improvement in the appearance and decrease in itching. Second morning was even better. I am about to do the routine for the third time tonite. This will be a Godsend if it gets rid of these critters from Hell. I also spray the bleach solution on my legs and body 2-3 times during the day. Sure hope some of you find a little relief with this approach.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I was using the HP and get "burned" so stopped. Start using the ACV and "burn". start Borax, burn part of my face, neck and chest but I did not stop the borax treatment.

After 2 months I tried the h2o2 and the Apple Cider Vinegar again just to see what happen. Surprise, didnt burn anymore. For me the burn was the killing of some fungus. In a normal healthy skin I guess dont do that. I am free to use it again.

Well, I have itchy scalp, ear (flaky too) and now in one spot on my genitals. I've been missdiagnosed before' doctors told me I have psoriasis but I knew it's not true because my husband and my niece got it too. I am so so desperate to heal it :( I can't sleep during the night:(

I probably have scabies, and right this minute I'm going to take a bath with tee tree oil and coconut to kill them. We are washing the bedding EVERY DAY due to obsession.

I hope I have something I can get rid of.

Peppermint Soap for Scabies
Posted by Macey (Mississauga, Ontario) on 05/29/2011

I am a single mom of one and I have been fighting the battle of scabies for months. I tried, the creams (prescription), borax (not sure I gave this enough time to work), products by dermisil, but each time I thought I was getting better the next couple of days proved me wrong with more physical signs that I was still infected:(

To give you an idea of my routine, once I wake up I strip my beds of all linens (including pillows and comforter), bring them down to the basement and put them into the dryer... I run the dryer cycle once in the morning. Then head to work. After work and put the dryer on one more time and start a load of wash that has been store in black garbage bags, vacuum the floors, wash the bath tubs and clean all toilets, mirrors, sinks, etc......

Anyways, I recently read your suggestion and I am hoping this works for me as well. After researching Dr. Bronners products I am convinced that I will keep this product in my house for a lifetime because of its multi purpose.

Can you give me an update and any tips you learnt along the way. Some days I feel like crying and it sucks that I am isolated from my family in fear that I will pass it on to them. I would never want them to go through the nightmare I am going through.

Please help me!!!

animals cannot get scabies. the mites can only live on human skin, and human skin alone. the only way to get scabies in the first place is by prolonged skin to skin contact. for example how a mother hugs her child more than once a day. shaking of the hand or one simple hug will not contract them. the scabies can only live without a host for 3 days. simply vacate your house for three days and they will be gone(from your home anyway). make sure you take treatment durring then so not to reinfest your environment.

Re: Diatomaceous Earth for external parasites on animals

I've used D.E. for years (11 ), to get rid of fleas on our dogs & cats, & lice on our livestock. I sprinkle it right on the animals & rub/brush it in really well - & then also sprinkle it liberally around their "loafing areas". We sprinkle it around our entire house during "flea season" & it makes a huge difference in the flea population issues that you just can't avoid during certain weather & when you have a zillion animals like we do, LOL. It does take longer than the noxious chemicals, but it does work!

i wouldn't put the hydrogen peroxide on your hair. It will bleach you hair. when I was a kid we would do this to get 'blond' hair.

you can use borax alone on your hair and it will do a similar thing.

One of the most effective remedies for scabies is tea tree oil. Tea tree oil has safely been used for decades to heal many ailments, from insect bites to acne. Tea tree oil has antifungal, as well as antibacterial, properties. Tea tree oil works by absorbing and penetrating into the lower layers of the skin, killing the parasite. Tea tree oil also kills the eggs that have been laid by the parasite, preventing reinfestation.

I used olive oil and tea tree equal parts just a bit ago for 30 minutes on my son, then dropped 20 drops of neem in his bath, then he soaked for 20 minutes and washed with a sulfer soap.. This is the most relief hes had since last Thursday when we discovered it... Thanks for any info you can give..

Using bleach in bath water (1-2cups ONLY) is not toxic to you. It's about equal to a clorinated pool! I wouldn't recommend this as a daily regimen! It's not a first choice for your skin, BUT it will work for SCABIES! The thing with scabies/bleach is to basically shock the mites! It will kill them, if done, with somewhat normal (healthy) skin! If your skin is severe (DO NOT USE BLEACH). Use TTO and menthol powder or lotion, until the skin gets back to a more healthier state! The permethrin can be watered down and used daily over bad areas! WHEN skin is in a healthly state, take a bleach bath! Do add a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide to HOT AS YOU CAN STAND water... Use alot of after bath moisturizer! The thing to remember when using bleach, is that if your skin (in damaged skin) and you keep using bleach, although it may kill some mites, the female who is deeper in your skin to begin with, will burrow deeper!!! So-skin somewhat healthy. Hot water to open the pores. Hydrogen peroxide to allow the bleach to soak into your skin! When skin is still wet, LOTS of moisturizer!!! LOTS OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU SUFFERING =)

Yes you can see the scabies!! After the Doctor telling us over and over that our son was bathing too much, the water was too hot, he used too much soap and was drying out his skin, we finely went to another doctor and got the result we didn't want to hear- scabies! He has had them for at least 3 months so after doing research we opted for the borax bath. The first bath we could see tiny light brown flakes floating on top of the water and ignored it. The next day we did the chlorine free bleach bath and again the brown flakes but also tiny black dots with a semi clear body now I had to take a closer look! After looking at it under a loop it was a BUG and larva.

So you people out there saying they can't be seen are wrong and the chlorine bath not only brought out the bugs but the larva so we're staying with that. After the bath we are using Tea tree oil mixed half & half with olive oil all over the body to discourage the little monsters from attaching to our skin. Good luck to you all, I'll post if the oil works and we don't have to sanitize our whole house.

I want to Thank this forum for finally getting my home back. My husband and I are complete rid of Scabies because of this forum.. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. Here is our story and what we did to finally rid our bodies and home from these relentless critters.

We tried the prescription creams and even took the pills that doctors prescribed and scrubbed my house and washed the linens every day, only to have recurrances every 4-5 days. After 3 failed attempts doing it the doctors way finally I headed to the internet and found this website. I read all the different posts for what others were using and having success. I guess you can say I gathered a mix of treatments. Here is what we did to finally rid our bodies and home.

1) Wrap the mattress and box springs in plastic

2) Wrap the couch in plastic

3) Steam Clean the Carpets -- We added 1/4 cup Chlorine free bleach, 3 Tblsp Dr Bonners Castile Peppermint soap and Zep Carpet Cleaner to mix with our water. Not only did this actually do a better job on our carpets then the cleaner itself ever did, but our carpets were minty fresh.

4) Take the bed linens off the bed every morning and straight to the washing machine. Add borax with your detergent. Then to the dryer until completely dry, I ran mine for 2 cycles. Spray the plastic on the bed with 50/50 Cholorine free bleach and Water, let air dry.

5) If you have pets, bathe them with the Peppermint soap made into shampoo. Use a nit/flea comb to remove any eggs that they are carrying. No the scabies don't infect them, but they do provide them with rides all over your house.

6) Remove daily clothing in the bathroom and place them directly into a plastic bag to transport clothing and towels to the washing machine.

7)Bathe twice a day, make the water as hot as you can take. Add Tblsp of each -Dr Bonners castile Citrus, Tea Tree and Peppermint oil soaps to the Bath water and soak. Then wash with one of the castile oil soaps which ever one you choose for the day and shower off. Towel dry and spray entire body with a 50/50 mix of the chlorine free bleach and Water. Place towel in the plastic bag with the clothing you were wearing and off to the laundry.

8) vacuum carpets every day.

9) each day spray every room in your house from floor to ceiling (everything- walls, doors, cabinets, floor.. Etc. ) with a 50/50 mix of chlorine free bleach and water.

In 10 days and we were completely free of scabies from our bodies and home. I say 10 days because we were clear of any outbreaks in 5 days, but we kept up the cleaning regiment for another 5 days just to make sure we didn't have another recurrance in the usual 4-5 days when we were following the doctor prescribed methods.

You have to be completely ready to stay with the routine, if you decide that you are tired and don't follow through with the cleaning regiment, I promise you will be sorry. Just plan on starting over as though it is day one all over again. Trust me you can't win the battle if you aren't fighting.

Once again Thank you everyone for posting your remedies, I hope passing along our success story will help someone else. Please pay attention to your body because the chlorine free bleach and soaps are not for everyone and I wouldn't want anyone to have an adverse reaction if you have allergies or sensitive skin to any of the ingredients used, then don't use them, create a mix of your own that works for you.

I had my first bleach bath last night and no more crawling feelings today. The scabies were mainly on my scalp and chest. I dipped my hair in the bath for a couple of minutes as I was laying there. Then I aired dried and an hour later I had a shower. I had secondary scabies after not treating my scalp the first time (benzyl benzoate) I have tried everything. It looks like the bleach works. I will need to continue baths every 2 or 3 days as I will need to keep up with the new batches of eggs that hatch until the population is down. Fingers crossed

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak
Posted by Cathrine (Perth, Western Australia, Australia) on 03/29/2011

I have had to add something else as I was so disgusted by what I found last night. I rubbed a little 12% hair peroxide into a couple of spots on my face that didnt show any bumps but I had felt crawling sensations over the past week. The areas turned into huge raised white welts one as big as 1cm. The peroxide was reacting with something under my skin. I tested some on a normal pimple and it didnt respond or go white. This was larvae and all their excretment under my skin. The areas that were infested were around my nostrils, under my eyebrows but above my lids and the upper lip (moustache) area. The skin appeared normal on the surface. I have now with a brush rubbed peroxide into my whole body and it seems my scalp, chest and face were the most heavily infested with a few small welts on my back. The scabies first presented on my hands and forearms and after treatment they returned the second time on my scalp and chest spreading to my face. I think I have killed all the larvae on my body now. Be aware that normal looking skin can have eggs underneath.

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak
Posted by Cathrine (Perth, Western Australia, Australia) on 03/28/2011

Hi there,

With all my experimenting with scabies I have come to the conclusion that 2 remedies are required. One to kill the mites and one to kill the larvae. Hydrogen peroxide rubbed onto bumps seems to kill the larvae. I used some of my 12% cream hair peroxide on new bumps and immediately could see a white head appear on the bump. Im guessing that this is peroxide entering through the burrow and fizzing on the larvae.

For the mites I would use eucalyptus oil all over my body and scalp and leave for a couple of hours. The eucalyptus is similar to borax because it comes from that camphor/menthol family. It does not irritate skin. I used it full strength with no problems but some sites say you must dilute it with a carier oil. The next day I used 3% peroxide on my scalp and rubbed it vigorously into my scalp so it could get to any burrows and larvae. If eggs are constantly being laid then hatched then it requires diligence to catch all the hatching cycles and finally get the population down. I got on top of my scabies but I never treated my scalp and within 2 weeks I had woken up one morning with bites on my face and chest. After treating scalp and body Im not feeling any crawling feelings and there are no new bites, Fingers crossed.

I started using the Peroxide Bleach and Water last night. Amazing that I noticed a difference right away and I will be using this again tonight. I am also using the Steam and Vac to sanitize the carpets while I vacuum each night, I spray my bed each night with the 1 to 3 parts solution let it air dry as I vacuum. Each morning I strip the bed linens and place them in a plastic bag to bring them out of my room so I don't transport any across the house and straight to the dryer with all bed linens and pillow too. I have been wiping down everything with clorox bleach wipes. I am making sure that I place the clothing I wore that day into a plastic bag and take as hot of a shower as I can take each night and then cover myself in the solution air dry. Take the bagged clothes directly to a hot water wash and then into the dryer. Wish me luck and I will update you on my progress.

Acapulco Leaves

I respectfully disagree with the "microscopic" comments. I have had horrible acne for a while now which has been getting MUCH worse as of late. I also, as of the past month, have had intense, unbearable itching and swelling of my yoni (Sanskrit for vagina). I thought the acne was just acne~ even though I am a vegan, take raw food supplements, drink kefir daily, raw honey and home made chai tea (cinnamon, cloves, ginger, ect plus coconut milk), and basically do everything right~ and was rather stumped about it. The itch I thought was herpes (you don't have to sleep around to get it) and started natural treatments for that, but received a negative on my herpes test. So, stumped again.

Well, recently I came across information that much acne is caused by the Demodex mite. After hours of research, I deduced that this was my acne problem, as I had all of the secondary symptoms and it totally resonated with me. So, I immediately got in the bath (at 2 am), dumped in Epsom salts and tea tree oil, and upon getting out of the bath, I slathered myself in tea tree, neem oil and coconut oil. Well, that was followed by MAJOR itch and crawling sensations on my face and yoni. I wiped at a crawly area on my face and examined my finger closely under a bright lamp. Well, there was a little SOMETHING there, kinda grayish, barely visable, long and thin~ so I smashed it between my thumbs and flattened it out. I continued inspecting my face, and lo and behold~ they were everywhere! On my face, my hairline, even on my neck and chest as I guess they tried to escape. I could FEEL them and SEE them. I couldn't tell if they were dead or not, so I tried to squish them all. Many were an exact replica of the first one found~ many were different. I seemed to have 3 (maybe 4) distinct stages of them coming out of my skin. Some were more white and soft bodied (nymphs?), some were hard and crystally (eggs?). Some came out with fibers (I read somewhere that the mite uses fibers from your clothes to make a nest). These were not all different things I was seeing and just paranoid so mistook them for the mites. These were all identical to the others of the same stage. Needless to say, I was totally grossed out, but SOOO happy to FINALLY have an answer to my embarrassing acne~ as well as the itchiness and crawy sensations of my face, scalp and ears.

Well, then I had the idea to put the same concoction on my yoni (which was only mildly itchy at the time due to the bath). OMG~ the ITCH after putting the oils on her!!!! Crawling, creeping hell! I usually don't scrath down there, so I started to gently rub it for some relief and when I looked at my fingers, they were COVERED in the VERY SAME parasites!!!!!! I swear on my LIFE, this is the truth! I wiped my fingers on a towel, and did it again, focusing on where the itch was~ and same thing! This went on until 5 am, when I could take no more and went to sleep.

So, today I went out and bought some tinctures of black walnut hull, wormwood and clove and I am putting myself on a MAJOR parasite cleanse. I also added clove oil and the tinctures to my oil concoction (clove oil kills parasite eggs and the others kill the other stages of parasites). I took a shower and applied the brew to my face, and got the same visable results. I applied it to my yoni, and more of the same, and this time I also got crawlies on my thighs and when I looked at those spots there was invariably a grayish speck there, undoubtably trying to escape. I am now sitting in a borax bath as I type this. So, this long story is to say that YES you CAN see them! AND you can definitely FEEL them crawling on (and in) your skin. This is not something I would spend all this time on simply telling a tall tale to yank your chain. I am extremely busy, and this past month with this SERIOUS issue has TRULY eaten up my time and I have been MISERABLE. I want NOTHING more than to get back to "normal". I guess you should be very careful when you pray that "all impure things inside of me be released and cleansed". I do think I am going to be healthier than ever, and optimum, pure, radiant health is my highest desire. I am extremely happy that I don't have herpes, because I was really dreading having to tell my husband. He's been in Panama building our island home while I have been staying at my parent's (ordering sustainable home supplies, seeds, and all the things we need to be self sufficient) for the last 6 months, and I didn't want to cause him any reason to doubt my devotion and think I cheated on him (which I NEVER have). So, I guess this is better than that. But IT SUCKS!!!! I know on some level I agreed to take this on, and I hope someday I am able to help someone else who suffers from it (I also know ALL about herpes now! ). Thanks for listening, I hope this is useful to someone and I wish you ALL the very best health imaginable. Namaste.

I found eucalyptus oil to be quite a potent natural insecticide. I have read it fries small insects such as fleas and head lice and so far appears to have stopped the scabies. It doesnt irritate my skin. I think essential oils work but perhaps take a bit longer than the chemical based treatments.

I agree with the essential oils getting rid of scabies, this is the mixture that worked for me:
In a cup of olive oil mix, two teaspoons of tea tree oil, a teaspoon of clove oil, a teaspoon of neem oil, and a teaspoon of orange oil. Rub it on your whole body like you would lotion before bedtime. I would do it for at least a month just to be sure. I put it on everynight because it also makes your skin so soft. The orange and clove oil really help the smell of the tea tree oil and the neem oil smell a lot better. This is so much better than all of the chemical treatments, and it really works. Vacuum and wash everything down and you should feel a lot better in a week or two.

Your kid must have had ants or cooties because what you described is not scabies...

- the scabies literally crawled out by the hundreds (scary)

-watch the mites run down the drain,

Two problems with your treatment description is:

You have anywhere from 10-20 mites on you .. if you have scabies - not "hundreds" as you put it.
The mites are a translucent teeny, tiny mite that is no bigger than the size of pin point when fully grown.. so to see them "run down the drain" and "litterally crawling out of your skin" is false!

Good luck with that ant or cooties problem because its not scabies that your treating.

Wanted to mention a piece most seem to overlook; I am using borax and peroxide; what a grateful being I am for it! But please realize there are welts and bites, and secondary allergic reactions; so often they persist and can keep the idea you are still infected, when you actually are free of the mites.

been using tea tree and neem oils topically if I am bothered between baths, I dry my bedding each morning, and clothes I wore the day before, and keep everything separated.... Best of luck!

I am very glad that I found Earth Clinic Folk Remedies especially regarding the scabies cures.

I discovered that I have scabies last Saturday though I have had the beginning of symptoms for a couple of weeks. I totally agree with someone else that said that this is a disease from hell. My hands are a mess with scabby red blotches and red spots.

I have tried the diatomaceous earth with partial success. I find that it is quite effective at taking away or reducing the pain after I apply it to the red spots that are bothering me the most. Someone else mentioned the importance of getting the food grade diatomaceous earth.

I also tried the mixing bleach with water cure, mixing I cup with two cups of water. I burned my skin and caused my hand and forehead to swell up. This was because I used the wrong kind of bleach. It was Western Family, regular scent bleach, and it says "Kills viruses that cause colds and flu. " This kind of bleach is not based on hydrogen peroxide and is very toxic. It contains sodium hypochlorite.

The appropriate kind of bleach is hydrogen peroxide based. Sharon from Wesley Chapel, FL says that she found non-chlorine bleach at WalMart with a pink label. At my WalMart the label is a green-blue color, and it says GREAT VALUE Chlorine-Free BLEACH - Cleans and whitens - Scent free. In reading the label it says that it contains hydrogen peroxide, citric acid and water.

When I called the poison center I was told to be careful with putting more potentially harmful chemicals on my hands while they are recovering from the bleach (wrong kind) that I used.

I also tried the Citrus Listerine-mouthwash cure which follows up with orange oil which I diluted 1/2 with olive oil. This was after using the wrong bleach treatment. I did sleep very well for six hours last night after trying that treatment.

The skin on my hands have had a lot of stress with the scabies, the wrong bleach, the diamotaceous earth and the Listerine mouthwash.

I now have the right kind of bleach, (chlorine-free and containing hydrogen peroxide, citric acid and water). But I am going to wait a while before trying it to give my hands a while to heal from the previous treaments.

I have ordered an herb that I understand comes from India called triphala, which should arrive by this Friday, 18 february 2011. It has helped some to cure scabies. It comes in the form of a powder and is used every day in a 1/2 cup of warm water with a drink of water afterwards as a chaser because it is pretty bitter. I will give a report later on how that works out for me. I like the idea that it works from the inside out. Or in other words it is taken internally and yet kills the scabies mite.

I wanted to warn other readers on this site that it is very important to get the right products or to be smarter than I was and read the labels carefully.

To the editors of Earth Clinic Folk Remedies.

I have written a book with the title: Say NO to Counterfeit Health Care - YES to the Alternative. I wrote the book to let people know that there is an alternative to the following scenario: You get older and get sick. Then you go to medical doctors at which point you are introduced to unnatural drugs. You get sicker as time goes on and are led into taking more drugs. You die taking 6 to 12 drugs or more in the name of seeking health. Is this scenario in your future? The human body is a natural creation. Drugs are not, nor do they equal or create health inspite of what the medical industry, the government and the insurance companies want us to believe. There is a better, more natural way. That is why I wrote the book.

I am 72 years of age and take no drugs at all. I am usually very healthy and this scabies episode is giving me quite a perspective on what can happen to a healthy person when invaded by an outside influence that is so dangerous and can take over your body as this does.

Again, thanks for the great web site.

Hi Courtney, yes you can put borax in a spray bottle and leave it on for as long as it feels good to you! Try maybe an hour before showering at first and leave on longer if need be next time. About maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the bottle borax, the rest water. Lily.

Does anyone know of another effective way to use the Borax treatment without having to soak in it? Can I put it in a spray bottle and spray it on? I know you are supposed to leave it on but do you leave it on until your next shower? I'm literally going insane here! Any advice will help!! Thanks in advance!!

I had been suffering from scabies for over a year. I have had four doses of Perm, and three doses of ivermectum (one dose a week for three weeks) I did this all reluctantly and have about 75% success with the ivermectum. These things are resiliant as hell, don't underestimate their ablility to survive, they've been around longer as a species then we have. I did every home remedy known (neem soap, neem leaf, oral neem, tea tree, coconut oil, borax, etc. etc. ). I cleaned everything religiously, never wore the same thing twice no matter how tempting. Steamed all my clothing and bedding before wash with an industrial steamer. I will tell you right now the girl who posted here has nailed it right on the head. I found a post about three months back by a girl who said bleach was the cure. I did a 1 to 3 ratio of household clorox bleach to water in a spray bottle and sprayed myself down and left it on over night.

Bleach is the cure. It may be dangerous but totally worth it. It took three times of doing this with spot treating with bleach and a blow dryer but I am now scabie free. Mostly it's important to know that your dog having a parasite is much different and honestly you cannot relate. Heating a spot that has brand-new bumps with a blow dryer to just past the point of being uncomfortable will kill them. Doubling that with the bleach, you're basically good to go.

Hi, my husband and I have been doing the peroxide / borax baths for 2 days now. When we started he had no hair on his chest, legs and face, along with red bumps all over. Since we have been doing the baths he looks horrible! I want to cry everytime I see him. He has scabs and sores all over him, he is lethargic and smells. The oozing has stopped and they look like red scabs all over a bare body. Is this normal? is this a its going to look worse before it gets better? He had this problem a few months back and I gave him a couple baths with the peroxide and borax and he healed right up. But not this time..... Please help! We are struggling to put food on the table for our kids, so right now a vet is not an option.

This did not work for me at all. As a matter of fact, I believe this caused the mites to spread. After having rashes in one area for four months, within days after starting the soaks, I started to get bites on my back and sides And even on my face. I also did not see any improvement with my original rash.

    Dear Shaun:

I am writing to thank you! I and my boyfriend has Scabies, He had it very badly and I had only a little of it, because I followed your directions! I never took a remedy from a pharmacy! He did take the pills and use the cream, but that DID NOT really work for him, he was reinfected after using the pharmacy remedy, only when I arrived with the Borax and citrus soap did we finally get COMPLETELY CURED and we have seen nothing since.

We also covered the mattresses with plastic bags and spayed prior with anti-parasite spray from France, but the black plastic bags worked wonders, used gloves to cover them.

We put just about all of our clothes in plastic bags and put them away and we did not reuse anything for almost one month/few weeks (luckily we have many clothes).

I want to share what really did work though. After my boyfriend was reinfected the situation was fa worse for him. It looked like a real mess, then I came and we used the Borax (with a hot bath as best we could since in the Caribbean there is not hot water) as a scrub to scrub of all of the tops of the sores even on penis and it hurt him but it surely got rid of the eggs. I read in the Paul Pitchford Healing with Whole Foods book to cook the Borax with oil and we made a remedy which was still really a scrub and after the bath we applied it to every single sore and left it sit there for a few hours. After we removed this we put on Orange Oil and Tee Tree oil that I bought in Philadelphia PA. Then we let it sit and I swear that within 2 days ALL SORES WERE GONE LIKE A MIRACLE>

    BORAX

    PLASTIC BAGS

    CITRUS SOAP

and ORANGE & TEE TREE OIL

I was never fully infected with any sores, because I did hot baths when I returned to Philly for a short time - when I came back his situation was one month worse than before... if I didn't find this site I would have been infected and he would not have gotten better!

Use the BORAX to SCRUB THE SORES AND THEN MAKE A PASTE WITH a light cooking of olive (or any oil) not a long cooking just to mix then apply to sores and leave on few hours follow with the oils, be careful.

I HATE SPIDERS and I was FREAKING OUT! Don't worry YOU TOO CAN GET THROUGH THIS with Borax!!!

I just recently figured out that I have scabies, so my boyfriend and I have been doing a slue of things both to ourselves and the apt to do a full cleanse and it has been going great. We've seen a significant reduction of bites, itching, and all that jazz.
Cleaning house/apt. we've been using a mix of bleach and water on the mattress, borax powder on upholstery that we vacuum off after letting it set for an hour or 2, anything small enough and un-important enough has been bagged and will remain sealed for at least 5 days, and as far as cleaning the floor we've been using rubbing alcohol and water. Rubbing alcohol kills the mites when they're host-less. As far as your other inquiry about how long it takes, well, we've been doing all this stuff for a few days and have seen significant improvements (sulfur scrub in the morning [Brimstone salt scrub from lush] followed by calamine and lotion, tbls applecider vinegar at breakfast and before bed, borax bath at night along with an anti-histamine. Itching less, fewer bites, and it's only been a few days.

I ordered sulfur cream and sulfur soap and it works when you are trying to kill scabies, it does not kill the eggs, but if you keep using it you will be cured. You can go to your local drug store ask for sulfur powder and make your own sulfur cream. This stuff works. I have tried almost everything else, and it was horrible, the horrible smells, the burning oh god it was bad. Sulfur is non toxic and it does not smell bad and it works. It is very gentle. Think sulfur and you will be thinking cure scabies no more sleepless nights. No more dreading the night, sulfur is the cure, nothing else has come close to sulfur.

I tried permethian from canada and mexico you get more from mexico but they use formaldehyde as a preservative its 5% perm and 1% forma so that is not good I used the stuff and got some relief but it did not work, I ran out of it, and it was less and less effective. I do not think sulfur will ever lose its effectiveness. Thank god for sulfur. I spent 60 dollars for about two and half pounds of sulfur cream along with 10 bars of sulfur soap. You can make your own sulfur cream and its much cheaper. If I need more sulfur cream I think I will make my own its so much cheaper.

I have found the best way to use it is sulfur cream applied to the affected areas rub it in, it is very gentle. At this point I usually feel sand like particles on my skin. Leave the cream on for an hour if you can. Get in the bath wash with sulfur soap if you have it regular soap if you do not. Get out of tub dry off put the sulfur cream on again rub it in leave it on. Do this upon rising and before going to bed. There are different methods of using sulfur soap/cream. Good luck!

How long does this cure take to rid one of bird mites? I've started in the last 5 days. I also need to know how to rid them from my car and apartment. I have bamboo floors and can't use borax on them -- landlord wouldn't be a happy! I've been spraying windex in the car, but I still have them.

Any help would be appreciated. The two people I've tried to tell this about don't really believe me. They think I'm just stressed out. Who would make this up?

    yea for Psorinum 30

After trying borax for another 2 months, laundry, bathing, etc. For the outbreak of mange in my area, and finally I developed scabies myself in the first week of December. I'm glad of it because I have found a better way to heal mange and scabies (cured 1 dog that was completely blackened and hairless and myself).

I read Peter Morell's PSORINUM http://www.homeoint.org/morrell/articles/pm_psori.htm and followed his protocol of 1 dose of psorinum 30 and to wait 2 months.

The first 5 days the itching was intolerable but within 9 days the scabs dried up. I got patches of scabies around my joints throughout the first month but without much itching.

I recommend this cure since it healed me and a dog already (he's already got most of his hair back) and please read to the end about surface cures, topical creams and aggravations.

I have recently purchased for curing scabies diatomaceous soil, permethrin 5%, enzymes from kleen green, and finally most recently I purchased sulphur soap and sulphur cream from some where in oklahoma. The sulphur soap and cream work!!! , nothing else has worked. When I rub the cream into the affected areas where the rash is, after I rub it in for a few seconds, well it begins to feel like sand appears I can feel it I guess that is the dead scabies. Any-who the sulphur soap and cream especially the cream, kill scabies.

I have been using the soap and cream for 5 days and am almost completely free from. Please look into and order the cream and you will see that it does work its really quite amazing I am so happy that after 3 years I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think that generally you can purchase sulphur powder locally and mix it with oil of some kind. Maybe you might consult a pharmacist about the sulphur powder and or products.

Recently I tried sulfur soap and sulfur cream it is inexpensive and it works. Results are fast although you have to keep up the regimen for a while. Sulfur works and I urge anyone with scabies to look into the use of sulfur to cure scabies.

You said you saw 2 bugs. Where were they? On your body? Or on furniture? Also scabies mites are teeny tiny. This might be bedbugs, which is a whole different, disgusting, can of worms. Clean all your clothes, change your sheets, use the hottest dryer setting, and use a hair blowdryer to get at the seams of your mattress if you are actually worried about bed bugs.

I doubt that this would manifest a 'cure' for scabies, but it could make them leave your body. When you take Apple Cider Vinegar it detoxes the digestive system like Drano and cleans the system so rapidly WATCH OUT I've used it when I am really ill. It can cure things because it makes you an unwanted host. I suggest fasting off of sugar (even take less fruit) and spices. All inner parasites look for a negative terrain to run rampant. Use the Cider Vinegar! I just went for mine and I'm out. No funds for it or else I'd be on it now.

Try using Eno salts and Glyco-thymoline. The ENo will alkalinize the body, a teaspoon in a glass of water every morning before breakfast for 6 to 7 days. Then take a cotton ball soaked in Glyco-thymoline and put that on the parts that are affected. When it has dried, put 2 ounces of Camphorated oil (which is just camphor and olive oil) and 1/2 ounce of lanolin in a bottle. Bathe the body with a sponge or massage this into your skin. It wouldn't hurt if you drank a little bit of Glyco-thymolie in water once or twice a day either, 4-6 drops in water.
