Natural Approaches for Scabies: Exploring Effective Remedies

I have had Scabies twice in my life. The first time it went on for years masked by oral and dermal steriods prescribed by arrogant Drs and Specialists who did a life time of damage without a moment's thought, or regard for me and my opinion or my person. What started as a simple mite infection turned into a train wreck disaster and I was sinking fast. By the time I trusted the truth it was so late in the game and the infection so wide spead. It was looking as if perhaps I would loose my hands. Not only was there a nation of Mites happily living under that crusted skin a mile thick where no medicine seemed to penetrate, there was the usual skin infection that often accompanies scabies When I finally decided I didnt have psoraisis, or exczema, chronic hives and allergies. I had scabies and it was unbelievbale what crusted scabies looks like when the steriods are removed and whats realling going on can be seen for the first time in years. I had them everywhere including ears, face and scalp. They do live there, why wouldnt they. By the time I said no more of this kind of Medicine, I'm not getting better I'm sicker then I have ever been and now I have no immune system to work with as the steriods wiped it out. I threw my life into the great Unknown, lept empty handed into the void, and began the road to Answers and Healing.

I went through thousands of dollars and broke the bank. I lost almost everything monetary you can think of. I lost my job, my home and then some. I was crippled spirtually and emotionally threw this and questioned almost everything I believe in. I have been prescribed risperdal by a renowned Specialist who just couldnt open his eyes or mind to the possibility that Medicine missed the boat on this one. That Nature and the Laws have changed since man started playing God and we now find ourselves in the mists of resistant Dis-Ease.

Heres what I know to be my Truth.

Scabies is Treatable. Scabies is Beatable. Even the most difficult cases can be cured. This can be undone.

I have studied and read, then applied much of what others have experienced on myself. I learned what works. What doesnt work. I learned how to take my Life back.

I am Grateful for this site and all those who have shared. My heart goes out to those who are caught in this struggle and I hope I can help. I will be documenting my own experience here for others to read and hopefully it will help others find there road to wellness. I am almost mite free now. It wont be years again this time I believe. I have an immune system this time round and I no this dance so well.

There are a million Meds that do not work. Natural or otherwise. There a alot of scoundrols who will happily rob someone while there desperate and so in need of Healing. Then there our those that will take the time and share where they have been and how they found there way to wellness. Simply because its the right thing to do. I know I would never have found my way threw this Dis-ease to the other side without the sharing of others that have gone before me. Now its time for me to give something back so others that come after me can find there way to the other side. And live in Wellness again. It is our God given right.

Down to 5 bites last night and time for my shower.

Thank God for Sulfur Sincerly D

This is more of just about curing scabies in general and not about a specific cure.

Hey Folks, I think Scabies has hit Epidemic/Pandemic levels.

Scabies is NOT an STD, it is extremely easy to contract. You can get it by sitting on the chair as someone that has it, you can get it by shaking hands, by hugging someone, even sitting on a toilet seat.
-- Think about it, scabies like to live in protected spots of our bodies, and really love the skin between our fingers because of that. So, anything you touch can become infected and then the next person that touches said thing can catch it.

IF you have scabies you need to notify your local health department and tell them that you think it is an epidemic! They might just try to tell you to get treated and not want to talk to you but DONT let them do that!
--Health departments need to start keeping track of outbreaks and notifying/educating the public in general about scabies!
**If you're worried about it being traced back to you, give a fake name when you call or email them from an email address you set up just for that purpose. (IT's what I'm doing)

To really stop scabies EVERYONE needs to be treated, this means you(A) everyone(B) that you've been in contact with, everyone(B) that has touched something you've been in contact with, everyone(C) that has been in contact with people/things from (B), everyone(D) that has been in contact with people/things from (C) and so on.

IF this doesn't happen people that treat themselves will just get it again.

------

My Story:

Like all of you here, I have scabies and like a lot of you, I've tried curing them without success. I've had them for a few years, tried treating multiple times and haven't been able to get rid of them. Either that or, I've been immediately reinfected by people around me.

I myself have a ton of shame around the fact that I've had it so long and not been able to get rid of it. I also have a ton of shame knowing that I've infected friends/family and random people around me even though I've tried to minimize my contact with people. I've massively cut down on my social life and spent the vast majority of the last few years in hiding. I just told an amazing man today that I can't have a relationship with him for 'personal reasons' because of these microscopic vampires.

Hell, I've been suicidal over it!!!

I'm quite frankly sick and tired of shaming myself over this and have decided to stop letting these pests run my life.

I've told friends, family and even written notes to clients (I work in private houses) saying whats up, the signs etc and out right had people say they didn't think they had it even though they obviously did. (IE: Animals CAN get it! Two clients had dogs that were itching like crazy, put on medication and the clients didn't believe me when I told them, even though I gave them links to info online from trusted sources).

Because of this I finally decided to contact my local health department and am going to force them to do something about it.

You should also!

My son and i have been taking a hot bath with oatmeal, & tea tree oil also adding a little peppermint body wash. it was calming our itchyness to an extent & i put petroleum jelly on us before bed time, my son was able to actually sleep!! well yesterday i decided to add some vinegar; & let me just say that was a huge mistake!!!!! we itched all night and today we are itching like crazyyyy!!! not to mention we woke up with more red itchy bumps!!!! my son: on his knuckles, inside of his hand, up his neck (which wasnt happening before) & between his fingers! and now he keeps scratching his head!!!! and me: around my ankles, bottom of my legs, my thighs, & between my fingers.

im thinking that the vinegar made things increase? im sticking with the petroleum jelly though, & use gloves on our hands all day and tape around feet and ankles and i will be trying new things as well to see what works, i wont give up untill these things are gone!!!

For scabies, take PSORINUM homeopathic remedy. It will do away with it in half an hour. Strength is 30C. You can order it from a good health food store or phone a homeopath and ask where you can get it. Cost $8 or thereabouts. It has helped me. First I had gone to an allopathic doctor. He gave me a medicine which, when applying, made my aura black! (this happens also to plants when given pesticides). When I read the info. of the package, I nearly got a fit! It can cause cancer! It cost $80!!!

You can also buy colloidal silver water and sponge your entire body. In my experience no bug on or under the skin can survive this remedy. For bedbugs it is unequalled. Hey, you'll both be fine. Om

Scabies? Around the end of November, my son and I went to stay the night with a friend. At the end of December I started a new job. About a week later my hands were severily Intensively ITCHY, Very Dry, and my Fingers And Knuckles Were Red with Whelps & lil bumps "like ant bites". I pretty much woke up like that every morning but when I got to work is when I would notice the whelps, so I assumed I was allergic to something. Then the bumps, itchyness & rashes started to occur on my wrist, then my arms.. Spread to my legs and top of my feet. My mom thought it was for sure bedbuggs But I didnt think so, because my son sleeps in bed with me & he was just fine! About A Couple Weeks Later I Noticed Him Getting Itchy And Getting Bumps! So put my son in the living room, I did my research on bedbuggs so I got the spray, blow dryer (for heat), & a car Vacume So I Can Suck them out of the cracks and corners... Well.. I found bugs alright! Little white worms! From food my son stuck under the bed!!! BUT I never seen any bedbugs... I sprayd my room anyway and bagged everything up, & got new sheets & me and my son started to sleep on the couch and taped the bedroom door so they couldnt move to other parts of the house. WELL, when I read up on bedbuggs it said they only bite you when your asleep and you cant feel them only the itchyness from the bite the next morning, and that they only bite where skin is not covered. your face, arms, legs, feet..

Well me and my sons itchyness increased, more bumps, rashes, sores from scratching, feeling them crawling on us alll the time not just at night. Just got worse, from the neck down. even unexpected places: He has bumps and blotches of rash around his genitals, I have them on both of my areola's as well as my inner tighs, and we both have it on our buttox, backs & abdomen as well.

my itch is HORRIBLE!!! But I know because my son is younger that he is suffering more, I dont sleep maybe for an hour or two a night, and my son wakes up through the night itching because at night it increases a lottt more! It calmed down on my son he has so many bumps that thats all you pretty much see, on his back, and abdomen. On his stomach he started getting a rash with these tiny red bumps which made it look even worse, and they have been bitting at his wrist, fingers, arm pits, waste line & inbetween fingers, on his knuckles and inside his hand ALOT more lately. So I did research and it kept coming up scabies.. I read ALOT of diff. peoples stories, as well as googling symptoms & pictures & all.

it said where they are known to be, and how they look from a naked eye, too small to see but looks like a little black spec.. And I looked inside of my sons belly button after I gave him a bath & seen couple lil black specs, I used my nail to get one out & put it on my nail to see it & you could tell it was not dirt; it looked like a super tiny lil flea! Too tiny to tell exactly but you could notice leggs coming out of the black spec. bearlyyy but visual enough to me.

as for the burrows, I am not sure exactly if I can point them out even if I did see them, because he has so many scratches and rashy bumps.

I am pretty positive that SCABIES has been the problem of all this hell that me and my son have been going through. Now im on the search for a cure to get rid of these suckers!!

today (feb. 24, 13) out of no where I got a huge rash, starting from the back of my knee down to the bottom of my calf, with a horrible stinging sensation ; feels as if I burnt it!!

me and my son both soaked in a tub containing: hot water, organic oatmeal, & a little tea tree oil for him and quite a bit for me. (because ive never used it I didnt want him to end up breaking out if he was allergic or something)... I let him soak for 30 mins & I soaked for an hour. While soaking I felt awsome! Up untill about 45 mins into it lol I started feeling a lil itch here and there, but when I got out it wasnt long untill we were itching up a storm again!! I know the itching stays for a while, so im not going to say it didnt work just yet. im going to do the oatmeal baths with tea tree oil everyday for this whole week & see if it improves! Hopefully it works because this has been hell!!! & I cant hate myself enough for knowing my son is going through this at 4 years old.

I feel for all of you that have to deal with this & I hope that you all find a cure that works for yall soon!

p.s this has seriously been one of the worst experiences I've even had to go through.. may god bless me & my son as well as yall with a cure. amen!

Scabies: Infrared heat lamp, poke root, sulfur cream/zinc oxide cream

I had this for two months thinking it was herpes given the location! And all those cures were not working. I was taking lysine, gave up coffee and nuts and it got worse and more rashlike until it finallly showed the tail tale signs of scabies (red rash in lines)

so I had some compana cream (zinc oxide iron oxide in petroleum base). I put that on it and if felt great! so then I got some sulfur soap (it was designed for acne) and bathed with that. I would let the soap sit there for a few minutes before washing off. I also happened to have black walnut powder, poke root, and cloves so I made a tea and splashed that on after the sulfur soap bath.

Then I used the infrared heat lamp on the spot. This felt great and I think helped considerably. I then covered it with coconut oil 3 days in a row. then I would put the zinc oxide cream on it every night. the last few days before it was gone completely I added some flower of sulfur powder to the zinc oxide cream. (you could use petroleum and sulfur, and you can find sulfur at a pharmacy or garden supply. It must be pure sulfur and is also called flower of sulfur, it is a yellow powder)

The first day it was more red but no pain or itching so I kept going.
The second day it was much much better.
I stopped with the tea mixture after 3 days (I made one batch and used it 3 days). it was almost gone for 4 more days (it kinda had a few bumps and they seemed to move to different area each day) so I mixed some flower of sulfur I had for my garden in with the zinc oxide campana cream. and kept up with the 5 minute DAILY infrared heat lamp treatment. My reasoning to try this was that someone said here that the mites died at 120 degrees. This is a spot heat treatment. and I am happy to report after having it two months once I started this treatment, after ONE WEEK it is completely GONE! Just in case, I also moved my sleeping area about have way through this process I slept on a couch one night and on a different couch the rest of the time. And also made sure I did not leave dirty cloths in my room.

Thanks everyone! And Thanks earthclinic!

I'm not sure what I have going on, but I've been losing my hair. I tried the blue Listerine (it has thymol--anti-parisitic) on my eyebrows and eyelid margins. I haven't put it in my hair. I did read in a dog cure website to slice lemons and boil. Let steep overnigtht and use as a final rinse on hair the next day. Hope this helps. Worked for me! They are back, though. I also poured seabucktorn juice on as a final rinse. It relieved it for a while. Last night I applied a lot of mayonnaise with a shower cap and took a bath in peroxide and borax a couple of hours later. Better.

I used to drink Constant Comment tea with cloves. I may start doing that again.

Clove Oil
Posted by Craig` (Sydney, Nsw, Australia) on 01/21/2013
★★★★☆

Since becoming infected with scabies I have more little brown moles as well as occasional 'pimples' that are much larger with a harder lump. These lumps are more likely to remain in spite of treatments. Over time they wear down and eventually disappear. Some have remained even after months. My question is: are these bumps and moles (and I think maybe also clear 'warts') active nests even when treatments appear to have killes the mites?

Should they be removed and how is this possible? I have been using natural treatments for over four months. About a month ago I started using clove oil in the 1/3 ratio using coconut oil recommended here. The result was dramatic in terms of improvement. However, a persistent pattern has emerged - more and more parts of my body have stopped showing signs of scabies (as indicated by using an anti-paristic treatment onto the skin after a bath or shower and having mites, larvae, eggs etc rise to the surface of the skin - I believe always dead - as well as an improvement in the skin as lesions, blisters etc clear up). In these cleared up areas, there still remains an occasional persistent bump or an area where there are small brown moles. In addition, there are areas where lesions will not clear up. However certain areas will show no new signs of scabies (eg by no new lesions or no visble dead mites) for several days, only to find signs of the scabies then. This seemes to happen in areas where there are still raised lesions which feel like there is a track along them that won't break down over a long period of time. I now seem to be in a cycle where this occurs, but where the mites are gradually reducing and the return to no visible signs is more frequent. Perhaps, the treatment will eventually beat them.

My concern is that these lumps and moles may have active nests under them. If so, what to do about it? are these nests protected by some encasement or are they so deep that the topical treatments don't get to them? I've been told that the mites burrow into the lymphatic system and that certain treatments such as bleach incite the mites to burrow deeper. The reason I suspect this may be the case is because, I recently started using wild oregano oil (sometimes called wild marjoram) that have high concentrations of carvacol in it. I take this orally as well as putting it onto lesions and lumps topically. If applied to a lump or a lesion which feels like it has a trackline (i find that these are very hard to get rid of, especially on the back), then the oregano oil will seem to break down the lesion or pump a liitle bit. If you keep on rubbing the oil into the area after this happens then sometimes dead mites or eggs will emerge. When this happens there is more likely to be an outpouring of mites etc for a day or two afterwards. After the first few days of doing this, I found some kind of encased eggs (or nests?) be released - these things often were entangled in hairs - by continuing to rub them and pull them off, they tended to pull the hair out and seemed to be attached to the hair follicle. I have a great deal of trouble working out what all these things are when they are released from the skin - is it a good sign of improvement or a bad sign or is it indicative of something else? Are these eggs or nests or mites or faeces dead? are they dead after treatment while being under the lump or mole? I believe everything that leaves the skin after treatments is dead, but I can't work out if the stuff in the skin is dead or alive. The other thing I would note is that this stage of treatment is less likely to show signs of larvae leaving the skin which I found to be more common in earlier treatments with neem oil. What are other perople's experiences? should these moles and lumps be removed and, if so, how? or do they eventually just rise to the surface?

I find it interesting that oregano oil is not mentioned as being a natural treatment for scabies very much. It has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic properties to name just a few of its benefits. It would appear to kill all stages of the scabies' life cycle (although I still use clove oil daily as it kills the eggs).

There was an earlier posting about the difference between scabies in healthy and immuno-suppressed people - clearly, chronic infection is a symptom of immune problems which require a holistic approach to better health. I suspect that any chronic scabies condition needs some internal treatment (this is why western medicine uses ivermectin) - oregano oil taken internally appears to reach the scabies as evidenced by an initial worsening of itching and a flare up of the skin condition. The breaking down of persistent pumps would appear to follow this, along with the outpourings of dead things (and maybe live mites). I am only into the second week of using the oregano oil, so I can't determine success yet. Unfortunatley, clove oil alone didn't eliminate the problem. I've been on anti-parasitic internal remedies for a while, which have had a great improvement on digestive issues but not on the sacbies until I started taking the oregano oil. [One company's] health advice is tackle this parasite along with the elimination of internal parasites and toxins, along with liver detoxification and other measures to improve natural immunity. This can only be beneficial to well being, however the task seems very onerous. Sometimes I feel so exhausted and desiring of a break from the disciplined self/environmental regimes for treating chronic scabies. I hope I can endure and have success soon!

For scabies infection use the homeopathic remedy PSORINUM 30C. Within less than 1/2 hr. it will be gone. Use once or twice more. It helped me immediately. If your health food store does not have it, it can be ordered. Cost: about less than Can. $10. The medical remedy was cancer causing as per info. And cost about Can. $80.

Stay away from costly, dangerous medicines. I saw my aura turn black with the medical remedy! You could try Psorinum on pets without side effects. Otherwise use Ted's remedy. From Om

Scabies - I have 90% relief using amber colored Original Listerine, not the blue listerine. After shower, put on gloves and apply listerine all over. Keep out of eyes. But can use on face. Air dry or blow dry, then take half a lemon, apply all over, let dry. Then apply coconut oil all over. Try to do this 2x day.

I just have to say Clove Oil is the Cure. I didnt know I had scabies until 4 months after I had gotten them. It started on my buttocks and then after a couple of months I started on my lower legs and calves, I thought it was chiggers... So I treated for that, but that wasn't it and after waking up at 3 and 4 in the morning with an itch that would not quit, I started looking online for what it could be. I used lye soap which I knew would cure poison ivy, that just dried the whelps but obiously did not cure the itch. I had some relief but not much. It was only when I noticed that now my back and arms were broek out in whelps and I felt creepy crawlys in my hair and on my face but could not see anything. I read and read and read all the stuff online, I tried everything and I mean everything. I tried the baths with salt, bleach, peroxide, borax, citrus mouthwash and added essential oils to my shampoo and body lotion etc. It was only until I used only the clove oil and suggested by other people on here, did I try that and only that after a hot bath with tea tree oil, after one day the itching was gone and after day 3, the redness has gone and the itching is gone. I will continue to use this for the next month just to be sure. I am so over cleaning and washing clothes and sheets and pillow cases, but at least I can sleep now and I think I am on the road to being cured. I sure hope I dont jinx myself by writing this prematurely. Good luck to everyone that is suffering from this beast of a creature. If I can offer any advice let me know.

Griffo Again, To all the people who have acknowledged thier experience I thank You. Reading through posts I would like to say please people be aware that once you have thoroughly cleaned everything and taken sleep with cream on nights it is dependent upon how long you have had the mungrel paracite under your skin before treatment as to how long the affect will last. As I am up to eight months with the paracite I now have small sand like pebbles coming out of my butt, upper thighs and stomache. Not a lot like earlier in the sufferring term but enough to create an annoying itch. I stand by natural oils more so than the chemical based creams available. Ive used Eucalyptus/citrus oil spray on sores after a tea tree eucalyptus citrus oil bath. As I was stubborn in my belief I had scabies and went too long before treatment I find now that most of my body was infested. The paracite debris is still coming out of me but not at the grose level it was earlier. I am of the belief your skin needs to dry and die before the paracite debris exits your body. Such a horrible feeling but I believe it's fact. Therefore if many have bred under your skin before treatment (ie. lyclear)expect a long term of skin irritation while the paracite debris exits your body.

I experienced more sand like pebbles and smallish bumps arising many times after a bath where I rubbed my whole body with a course flannelette. Spraying eucalyptus and citrus oil on the affectted areas stung but did kill the itch many times. Im so glad it is nealy over. The other day I experienced a burst of blood coming from two snake bite like holes on my fore arm. This area has turned into a small rectangle area with tiny red dots making up the rectangle. DEBRIS EXITING.... Hurry the hell up I say... Nearly there nearly there... nearly there.

I again thank all the sufferring people who have offerred their experiences and do hope my information has helped someone.

My only question now is "What can bring back skin colour to the healed scabie sore scar tissue areas?"

Essential Oils
Posted by Griffo (Adelaide, Sa/ Australia) on 11/21/2012

Well who knows where I caught this mungrel parasite. Three weeks after returninig from a family holiday in WA I began severely itching. I became concerned and went to my doctor. As there were no signs on my hands and feet and limitted marks on my body his thought was it might be scabies. I was like WHAT! Couldnt be. I said "Give a week and see what happens". When I went back he made an appointment for me to see a leading dermatologist in SA. If it wasnt for two small sores on my penis it would have been difficult to diagnose. Yes scabies I had. YUK. That night my girlfreind and I put the cream on us from head to foot. This was about the 7th of March this year. Again we covered ourselves with the white scabies cream a week later. We cleaned everything I was in touch with. After the second sleep with cream all over us I burnt the mattress in the back yard and bought a new one. I have only just recently taken the plastic off the new mattress. 7 months later I still itch as it is the scabie debris coming out of me. It has taken 8 months I have healed sores (skin blemishes) and now only small sores on my cancer operation scar under my belly button and on a scar on my butt where I backed into an emery grinder. It is only just recent that Ive had annoying itches again so Im back to oil baths. ie.eucalyptus/tee tree and citrus. Ive been having these baths often since after we slept with the scabies cream on us. My girlfriend luckily has not been affected by the beast. I contribute this to the excessive cleaning since our cream baths. Plus my constant bathing in the above oils.

I made a mistake of NOT believing in my doctor on the first visit so literally (because of the way they breed)1000's made home under my skin. So wish I had the cream put on my body when my doctor first acknowledged I might have scabies. Please if you think you have scabies get the scabies cream to sleep with on you straight away. I learnt a big lesson. I believe I used a white tube called lycream. I used cortival for a short time to heal the many sores that I had on my body. After Cortival I used a eucalyptus/ citrus spray on the sores after a bath, it stung but didnt itch. I felt the difference between a live itch and a dead itch. If you can picture sleeping in a bed of three corner jacks (nasty aussie prickles) thats what it felt like for me. As my body is getting back to some sort of normality my only concern now are the skin blemishes. I believe because of the way my body was invaded my research and methods have helped me What can bring back skin colour in old dark scabie sores that have healed?

Hello everyone, I am so so so thankful that I found this website! 3 doctors told me not to worry, it would be gone in a few weeks... Did the cream 2x, 3 doses of ivermectin... I am doing 2 more ivermectin.. And I am still not 100%. HOWEVER THE GOOD NEWS!!!!!!! I think the bleach and water is working! Finally! I don't feel that creepy crawly feeling after doing the bleach last night, and tonight after the gym I am doing the borax and peroxide bath, followed by the bleach. Of course, I am washing sheets towels every day, and washing clothing... And the clothing I can't wash - ie coat, a blazer for work, gets put in the dryer for 30 min on high when I get home.

Don't forget shoes... I have been spraying them inside and out with bedbug and flea spray.

Sofa and desk chair covered with plastic, and also I wipe all of my toiletries with alcohol - razor, tweezer, and also wipe off pencils and lipsticks...

Hairbrushes - put in a pillowcase and put in the dryer for 30 min on high, to be certain.

I'll keep everyone posted on my journey with this. God bless, and I hope everyone keeps up and gets through this awful thing.

Story: First all thank goodness for your website I honestly would not know what to do without this site. I took a mixture of different treatments and methods found all over this site and used a mixture of them. I believe my Boyfriend contracted scabies first. It all started when we went on a road trip to Los Angeles in Aug 2012, he reported being extremely itchy that night but I told him he must be allergic to the soap from the hotel (it was more like a motel). Over the next month he complained of being extremely itchy especially at night although he had no rashes , bumps and etc. I wasnt itching so I thought it was sensitive skin , eczema or a reaction to a new soap or shampoo we were using. The itching wasnt extreme at that point just a minor nuisance, tried creams and etc but did not work.

Then in October (2 months later) I started having some red spots on my stomach which later started to itch. I tend to have sensitive skin so I just rubbed some lotion and hydrocortizone which did not help. Over the next week the rashes and red spots started to get extremely itchy and spread to my lower back. At this point if I scratched them they were small welts similar to that of a mosquito bite. At that time due to the Los Angeles trip the one thing that went to my mind was bed bugs. I went crazy cleaning the house and even wore a long sleeve shirt and tight leggings to bed to see if they would bite on the covered areas. I then started to have more rashes and bumps. For some reason when I was searching for information on bed bugs, scabies came up. All the symptoms lead up to scabies. I was mortified with all the information I was finding. There was a ton of information I didnt know where to start , in fact I went crazy purchasing any type of oils, borax, hydrogen peroxide, grape and coconut oil, acetone, sea salt. I first went to the doctor and she seemed like it wasnt important in fact I told her I felt it was scabies. She simply prescribed the permethrin cream 5%. I went out and got the cream but had my boyfriend use it since he has less patience than myself. I wanted to use the all natural treatment. Here is what I did:

  • Step 1 : The first day I rubbed my entire body down with hand sanitizer wait for it to dry, then mixed in about 1/4 liter of coconut oil (you can use grape seed oil) 10 drops of lavender, 10 drops pepperment, 20 drops of neem oil, 20 drops of tea tree oil, 20 drops of clove oil, 50 drops of orange oil. On certain areas with extreme itch and rashes I applied orange and clove oil directly (beware this may burn and irritate your skin). I then took some petroleum jelly and covered my entire body with this. Leave it on for an hour.
  • Step 2: I showered every day twice a day using sulphur soap (you can buy this at walmart, cvs, or walgreens) its in a yellow box. While in the shower I used the hotest water I can tolerate. Lather up the soap really well and cover your entire body/hair/face and let the soap suds stay on your skin. I put about 10 drops of clove and peppermint oil in my shampoo as well. While in the shower with the sulfur soap still in your skin take sea salt and scrub your body down. Wait about 2 minutes then rinse everything off.
  • Step 3: Once out of the shower use separate towels for your hair and body or try to air dry. I used a blow dryer. Then take the same mix of oils 1/4 liter of coconut oil (you can use grape seed oil) 10 drops of lavender, 10 drops pepperment, 20 drops of neem oil, 20 drops of tea tree oil, 20 drops of clove oil, 50 drops of orange oil. On certain areas with extreme itch and rashes I applied orange and clove oil directly (beware this may burn and irritate your skin). Apply over your entire body except face and rub the oil in really well.
  • Step 4: Later that night I did the hydrogen peroxide and borax soak/bath. I poured one cup hydrogen peroxide and one cup of borax into really hot water. I soaked for about 1 hour. After that I repeated steps 2 and 3.I continued to do steps 2-3 every day for two weeks straight, this is important to shower twice a day and rub yourself down with the oils twice a day. I also did step 1 and the hand sanitizer rub down every other day for 2 weeks. The borax and hydrogen peroxide soak, I did that once a week for two weeks. DO NOT SCRATCH , it makes the rashes worse and even spreads them. Apply oils in the itchy areas.
  • In addition I took tumeric supplements and drank 1 teaspoon of organic apple cider vinegar (diluted in water) twice a day every day for 2 weeks. Supposedly this will adjust your bodys ph level/acidity and make your body not pleasing to the mites. Also refrain from eating sugar and chocolate, try to eat healthy.

As far as cleaning I did not go crazy like all the other posts suggest. After I did steps 1-3 I took all the bed sheets and washed it in hot water with my regular detergent and a cup of borax. I then put it in the dryer for at least 45 minutes in high setting. Washed all the clothing that was worn in the last 2 weeks (not the ones in the closet). Anything that couldnt be washed I put in garbage bags and made them air tight. I put those in the garage for 1-2 weeks. I sprinked borax all over the carpets, floors, and mattresses for 24 hours, then vaccuumed everthing. Before going to work in the morning I took a regular spray bottle and diluted 1/2 of hydrogen peroxide, 1/2 water, 50 drops of clove oil, lemon grass oil, orange oil, neem oil. I sprayed the mattress, pillows, couches, and everything I can I sprayed with the solution. I washed towels, clothing, and bedding used everyday for 5 days straight. After 5 days I sprayed the solution and vaccumed once a week. I did spray the solution on everything every 3 days and will continue to do so for the next 30 days. Large bedding and comfortors that could not be washed , I sprayed with the solution and put in the dryer for 45 mintues.

The aftermath and still hoping I am 100% scabies free. I started treatment/cleaning on Oct 23st, as of today it will be 3 weeks. The itching drastically went down after 1 week just out of no where it subsided but did not completely stop. The second week it gets better but you may think nothing worked but it actually is. Now into my 3rd week the rashes have started to almost completely disappear and the ithcing is at a bare minimum. The itching and rashes will continue in weeks 1-3 but dont freak out thinking you are reinfested as long as you keep with steps 1-3 and cleaning every couple days eventually the mites in your skin and surroundings will die off. Also be aware your skin will be extremely sensitive in some parts (for me my arms, legs, and neck) after 1-2 weeks from the natural oils ( I applied directly in many areas). ANytime I saw a new red bump I rubbed hand sanitizer and the oils directly on it. I thought I as reinfested but I got some form of eczema or skin irritation ( I just used plain coconut/grape seed oil with hydrocortizone in those areas and used a lesser concentration of oils).

By the way my boyfriend did the permethrin 5% treatment, he did it one time and I chose the all natural way. He had extreme itchiness the night he applied the cream, almost unbearable itchiness for the next 2 nights. On the 3rd night it subsided. I had him do steps 1-3 as well after the permethrin treatment just to be sure and his itching has greatly decreased. He isnt as diligent as I was with steps 1-3 but I know he is closer to being 100% cured as well. In addition I had my son who did not show signs of itching or rashes use the sulphur soap once a day and apply the oil in step 3 (minimal treatment just in case). In my 3rd week I dont see any new bumps, still random itching in certain areas but I think its from my skin getting sensitive with all the treatments. I only shower once a day in the sulphur soap, scrub with sea salt once a day, and apply the oil mix 1-2 times a day. I will continue to do this till all the redness/rashes/and itching disapear, I plan for 45 days as a precaution.

The biggest thing whether you are religous or not is to pray /pray/pray (trust me on this) ; stay diligent on the cleaning and treatments; just wait as you have no control over time. It will start to get better after 7 days. Goodluck, this thing can be beat, stay positive!

Three and a half months and I'm still scabies-free! The bleach and water worked. I now have another skin problem. It's itchy, but definitely not scabies. Scabies only got worse, and this comes and goes. Several of the meds I still had from scabies that never worked (Triamcinolone) are helping this, making a big difference. I think having had scabies for so long, I've developed greater sensitivity to other skin problems. I go to the doctor next week (an allergist this time).

how to get rid of them near your eyes: coconut oil smothers them and is safe to use around your eyes and on your face. Also, hydrogen peroxide is safe on your face if you use it on a cotton ball. Be sure the excess is out of the cotton ball before you dab it around your eyes. HP is a pro-oxidant so I would recommend it for just a few days each week.

Coconut Oil all over. Easy peasy, non-toxic if they lick it, no prescription needed, smells yum, and apply as often as you like. Coconut oil smothers the mites and heals the spots. First few times you may want to bathe them 30-60 minutes afterwards, as black flecks will come out noticeably. Also, lemon juice works wonders on any bumps without broken skin, as in a lemon wedge.

Six tubes of permethrin cream did not work. I used non-chlorine bleach when I did my bath. I submerged every part of me, including my hair/scalp, which was also infested. I saw improvement right away; the itching subsided and I started to be able to sleep! However, I did need to have a bath for 3 days running, then repeat a couple of weeks later, before the scabies went completely away. Maybe there were egss still embedded in my skin? I've been free for two months now.

Hi there! Not to scare you or anything, but many people have what is presently called Morgellons, and their first understanding is that they have scabies. Unfortunately, this is much more difficult to control or get rid of than scabies. Please try not to be afraid, if you look into it, as fear itself is very destructive, and makes this problem much worse. It almost teaches one to neccesarily "walk in balance," if you will.

That said, there are a number of things written online about modalities that have helped. The biggest concern is that your child is very young, and so you must treat with care, and under a doctor's supervision.

Is the child breasfed? Was the child only recently given solid foods? There is the possibility of dealing with a food allergy. I would check the listings on this site under both, if they are there.

I believe that anything that kills parasites, or builds immunity could help. There is something called Clarkia, which is essentially clove, wormwood, black walnut hulls. Again, I do not know if safe for an infant, so check with M. D. I had to inform my doctor about Morgellon's, who had no idea, and then he later said, "Everyone has it."

Colloidial silver may help. Essiac tea helps. I have had much success with Vit C lately, and also believe in drinking warm water and lemon. Morgellons hates coconut oil... Capsules, on a spoon, or topically. Sulphur soap is very soothing. Beta Glucans of various types seem to help. I have used many types, and like Immutol. Some use diatomaceous earth (DE). You must proceed with caution with a baby, and perhaps see a specialist or dermatologist. I would almost suggest staying with breastfeeding as much as possible.

I am learning much about undenatured, grass-fed origin, whey and glutathione, and believe that it approximates, or is, the best part of raw milk, which is an incredible healer, based on old books now out of print, one of which I just finished reading. Revelation speak about this: "They shall all eat whey."

No sugar, no bread, no juice. Pineapple is a good anti-parasitical, especially the hard inner core... Can chew on it or juice it. Lots of fresh organic veges and good water, not tap. Tap has flouride which destroys the immune system. That's enough for now. Know that many people are also suffering with this, worldwide, and is possibly contagious, or so it appears, or else only becomes a problem with weakened immune systems. After all that, perhaps it is just scabies, which is much easier to heal, by cleanliness and enzymes spray. But I doubt it. Remember that knowledge is power. Babe in prayers. --T.

so, I started spraying myself with clove oil in water, which burns and makes me cold. It seemed to help. I also have been using lice shampoo. I just leave it on after drying after a bath. But tonight, I mixed up some sulphur powder with petroleum jelly, mineral oil, olive oil, and clove oil. I put this on after letting the lice shampoo dry. I also ordered 10% permethrin liquid from a pest control supply, hoping to mix it with petroleum jelly, and avoid doctors altogether. The sulphur cream I made is still on right now, and it feels pretty good, like it's working. Will keep updated. Also have been using meat tenderizer with water after (sea salt/borax/clove oil) bath for five minutes. Also straight lemon juice. then rinse.

I totally agree about not using bleach on a baby.

If this is for a diaper rash, you could try a Lemon and warm water soak, with some Essiac tea (goes by FlorEssence also) splashed in, and a couple of drops of Rosemary Oil. This could really help. Keep the soaking water out of baby's hands due to hand-to-eye impulse.

I have had great success with yeast with this warm soak. Don't use the rosemary or lemon unless you will keep the soak water out of childs reach and eyes! One way is to do a soaked compress on baby's bottom, and so avoid the splashing into eyes concern alltogether. --T.

PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS ON YOUR CHILD!! A child's skin is much more delicate than an adults and you could burn his skin (and yours) with bleach. Not knowing what is causing the rash, have him checked for allergies. In the meantime.... I have used generic Milk of Magnesia for rashes on my grandson that helped greatly. Stops the itching and clears it up. NO CHEMICALS!

Camille; I am totally at wits ends here, it started out with my cat having scabs all over her body also red spots and itching constantly, I came here thinking it was mange and treated her as such with great results for over eight months, now these mites are back even worse also getting closer to her eyes and because of so many treatments she is severely stressed out. Now I find my husband has the same red spots and itching on the back of his neck at the hair line, I too am itching along with my two dogs, it's like a zoo here lol I finally brought my cat to the vets after all these months only to find he says she has allergies I said I think not these were contagious, he wanted to give her steroids; I said nothing abrasive thanks....... That stupidity cost me over a hundred dollars I could not afford. I'm wondering how abrasive it would be for a small cat? if any one might know the answer please send me an answer, I would appreciate the input. Thanks every one that contributes any info. Peace.

so, I started taking a salt/borax bath (with a few drops of tea tree oil), and then rinsing off. Then taking meat tenderizer and mixing it with warm water and applying it all over and letting it sit. Ten minutes and rinse off. Next, sulphur soap ten percent, ten minutes and rinse off, warm water. Then, lemon juice all over, ten minutes and rinse off. Also, scrubbing with the green side of the dish scrubber. This seems to really kill them. I also have been using oil with a smaller amount of clove oil in waking hours. Leave it on as long as I can stand it. This seems to work also. I am also trying to get some 5% permethrin through some form of doctor. My other thing is sea salt dissolved in a spray bottle for all day body spraying. Things are getting a little better. I might try lice shampoo permethrin 1%, but I don't want them to build up resistance.

ok. real progress with salt today. I took a sea salt/borax/super washing soda bath with a little sulphur shampoo for twenty minutes, rinsed off and turned the shower off. Then applied sulphur shampoo all over and waited ten minutes. Then I rinsed that off and turned the shower off. Then I applied a mixture of salt, water, borax, and super washing soda and didn't rinse off. Then I went and did laundry in plastic bags. At night I am soaking with olive oil with a little castor oil or whatever. Tonight I might try mixing a little clove oil, but I'm still pretty burnt on my shoulders... I've been wondering if plastic bags might make things worse, and am considering using my dresser again (clean). Anyway, things are really starting to clear up, only a couple thin scabs on my stomach where it once was a big rash. My house has been sterilized fairly well, but I think my roomate is in denial and could slow this down. So, from clorox baths to lemon juice to borax to clove oil to salt and sulphur. We'll see... The winners are oil, salt, and sulphur/citrus. Good luck all.

However, it seems to have done massive damage to their colonies or whatever they are. Also tried meat tenderizer and it really hurt the burns. My room is all wrapped in plastic bags and bleachy. outlook somewhat positive...

I think I have scabies. Possibly from a new coworker, who is always using hand sanitizer. I stumbled on your site and found many helpful tips. I tried tea tree oil and other oils, and the borax peroxide soak, somewhat helpful. I also greased up overnight, even with petrolium jelly (what a mess), and could feel little frantic strugglings. But tonight I used lemon juice straight, with salt, even mixed up a little for dabbing (dousing), and found it to sting wonderfully. It also revealed the true track marks and infested areas. I just wanted to post and let people know that the two most common kitchen ingredients are very good at killing the mites. I will continue with sea salt soaks/borax also, and the nightly castor/olive oil (gave up on essential oils, roommate... ), and will finish the bath with a lemon juice wipedown. Also, spot killing with my lemon/peroxide/salt/water mixture. I also mixed up a spray bottle of non-chlorine bleach (apparently lemon juice/peroxide/water), and will continue to leave a bucket of bleachy (chlorox) water with a rag in it for cleaning my belongings and surroundings. Iwanted to tell people about lemon juice and salt, basically. Thanks for this wonderful site, and all the brave people contributing their stories.

    Epsom Salts
Posted by Shelly (Las Vegas, Nv) on 09/05/2012

There should be a like button! Sorry for my english and spelling is not the best. Thanks for sharing. I read about epsom salt working for scabies. The mites I have seem to not be phased by it. I think they are bird mites. So far only lemon essential oil is killing them in my hair. Nothing else has like permethrin or like substances. They are not phased by coconut oil, amonia or even sulfur! I think actually the adult mites are not phased by the sulufur. MAybe newly hatched are.

The bleach baths also work on the non adult ones. Very few things work when bird mites are in your scalp. I'm so confused. I dont know what I have the more I think of it. I tried borox, sulfur, bug spray hot bath, heair dryer, toothpaste before the recent post for tooth paste, tea tree oil, turpintine oil, dawn dish liquid, neem oil and soap, lemon greass oil, apple cider vinager, ivermectin horse past, Flagyl pills, bitter melon pills, olive leafe pills, Dr, Hulda Clarcks parasite cleanse with black walnut, wormwood and freash grownd cloves, sauna, two hour soak in _____ baking soda deteregent for laundry, Quassia Amuara from a lice treatement, peroxide (peroxide does get them out of my ears when I leave in for 20 min) Diatomatious earth in bedding, carpet, hair and cloths, clove oil (made my scalp peel in huge chunks) Lysol spray and toilet bowl cleaner, barbarsol, alcholol 91%, finger nail polish remover, sun laundry detergent with color safe bleach as reccamended by the morgellons page, pine tar soap, pennyroyal oil, windex on the scalp soap for dogs, advantix permetherin 45% for dogs : (

Next on the list to try, Teds Borax in water, drank all day, colloidal silver, actual pine-tar-resin, actual Balsalm of Paru oil or resin, boiled wood chips from Quassia Amaura boiled strong in water then that water simmered in oil till the water is gone and oil remains, Still using the neem oil as it messes with their reproductive cycle.

The most valuable thing you mentioned is the faith. I KNOW I will get over this scalp mite infestation! I just have to make it happen! I have a ton of lemon oil in my hair now and it is burning! ITs near the point of panic but not there yet. If it gets to be too much, NEVER use water to rinse, douce with coconut. Olive or baby oil to dilute. Learned the hard way and the water opened the pores to more inteanse burning!

Ted, if there is ever a situation where one is running out of options or ideas its here. I've tried nearly everything. Very tired now. Gonna to take a bleach bath but with out the bleach and using chlorine for swimming pools and Sodium cabonate not to be confused with sodium Bicarmonate. There is a difference. Seems like the carbonate works better.

There is no way I can heal this and not come back to post what will have worked.

    later.

I first of all would like to thank everyone who posted their remedies for scabies. They are tenacious little critters aren't they! I did alot of research online and would like to share my story.

I had over a dozen large crusted scabies spots on my arms and legs... Dozens more smaller ones. I did some landscaping for a friend and we dug out a flower bed no one had touched for 20 years. I got poison ivy too (or pehaps not since I had never been allergic to it before), but didn't realize the scabies for a few days... Thought it was all just poison ivy at first. I 've had scabies before so I knew what they looked like, but the crusted scabies, or Norwegian scabies, is just the same mite but many, many, MANY of them. My skin was raised up, or very swollen in spots, with some diameters much larger than a silver dollar.

I used the borax and peroxide baths, omitting the peroxide alot, since I had no income for a while. I lost 3 jobs because I looked so awful and didn't want to contaminate others. I put myself in quarantine for about 6 weeks. My kids got small spots but I killed those right away. I was taking 5-6 borax baths in a 24 hour period, scrubbing down with it in the hottest water I could stand (my tolerance went up considerably over 6 weeks) and letting it dry before soaking. I could tell it was helping but needed something else. I used essential oils also- lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus globulus, rosemary, orange, others... and pennyroyal, which is highly toxic. It can shut down your kidneys so make sure you cleanse with a detox tea after and only use it once a week. I had them so bad I felt sick, so I detoxed my liver and kidneys with herbal teas- detoxing also helps your body deal with the little buggers! Also MSM, since it contains sulfur, I took twice everyday. I figured that, like candida, they thrive in an acidic atmospere, so I alkalized with cucumber and lemon water. I ate alkalizing vegetables and cut out all meat, sugar and alcohol. I ate a spoonful of coconut oil everyday, and used it topically to help my dried-out skin. I also used a capful of bleach and a toothbrush and scrubbed the spots occasionally, but I could tell that was making me sick too.

So, I went back online seeking other cures. The more cures I used, the more results I got. I feel that the Epsom salts really put the nail in the scabies' coffin, so to speak. I alternated borax baths with Epsoms baths, eventually just using the Epsoms salts, scrubbing myself with the salts and letting it dry a while before soaking. That's when they really started to die off. They hate sulfur. Maybe magnesium too? The essential oils helped with killing the eggs so they'd quit coming back. When I got it in my eyes, I used hot, soaked green tea bags on them. I'm not sure if it was the heat or the tea but they left my eyes. Also swimming in the neighborhood pool that contained way too much bromine may also have helped! Hahaha

I also cleaned my house and bedding incessantly, like others suggested, placing plastic covers on everything, vacuuming everyday. It was exhausting, and I barely slept for 6 weeks.

Besides the physical ways of doing away with scabies, FAITH is absolutely the best thing I had going for me. Don't ever lose it!! Faith is EVERYTHING. Not religion, but a pure steadfast belief in what you want. It always works.

Hope this works for you as well!!! It was hell!! - but I have valuable experience now, and we all have trials to go through. Maybe mine was so I could help others, I don't know- but I truly hope you find your cure!! I have the battle scars to prove I WON!!!

    Take care and God bless!!

I have had the 'bug' for almost 7 months before locating this site. When my symptoms first appeared, I was unsure if I was just losing my mind. I went to the doc's and they had no idea at first.... (odd if you think about it..... Med school for 12 yrs to open a business called a "Practice"). I didn't feel like being a guinea pig, but the itch was unbearable! I've read many of the articles/comments from others and came to the conclusion something was going to done soon. The "bleach/peroxide" cure didn't pan out, the "oils" were just too costly, And all the others were just a "hocus pocus" form of treatments. I did some more reasearch, spoke to a few peeps and was steered in the right direction after spending countless hours awake scratching till I bled at night!

    Heres the cure:

1.CLEAN WITH WARM SOAP AND WATER

    2. APPLY PEROXIDE TO AFFECTED AREA

3.APPLY AN ANTI-ITCH CREAM (allow time to penetrate skin)

    4..........................................................

......THEN APPLY WHITENING TOOTHPASTE TO AREA!

I know this sounds crazy! But after doing this for 3 days the symptoms associated with the 'scabies bug' ceased! The itch is gone, the healing happens rapidly, and I can sleep at night again!

After you've applied the toothpaste to the area, be sure to leave it on until the next day. Wash it off with warm water and soap. Re-apply at night and follow process for a few days. You'll be amazed at the results!

After going to the doctors numerous times for them to prescribe me.... Cures...... which never worked and cost me a fortune, this is a cheap cure for scabies!

Let me think about the costs....hmm...

    Permethrin Cream..$120

    toothpaste......$3

Permethrin is crap and costly! Doctors know nothing! They pump you full of drugs to see which works best!

This is a cure for me...... Toothpaste........ A whitening paste! You have a cool, tingling sensation after applying it, and sleep like hound dog!

Try it and add comments to this lovely and 'cheap cure for scabies'!!!!!!

    Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak

Be careful when buying DE to get FOOD GRADE diatomacious earth. DO NOT buy the stuff meant for pools, it is not the same and will not have the same effect. The stuff you want looks like flour, and can be applied topically or taken orally, but look it up online first for proper dosage. And also be very careful not to breathe it in, you may want to wear a mask and gloves if spreading it around your place. It is not toxic, however it has a very drying effect on your skin. It doesn't feel sharp to humans, but to insects the ground pieces have razor sharp edges that cut the exoskeleton of the insect/bug and dry it out. Taken internally it can help with worms and parasites, and used around your house it can help with all bugs like fleas, bed bugs, flys, mites, etc. It can be used in the garden as well, but is harmful to helpful, beneficial insects too. It's great stuff with many uses if you google it. You can buy it online, or I found it locally where livestock/horse supplies are sold as many use it on their animals.

    Castor Oil
Posted by Jayne (London, Uk) on 08/25/2012

I had a rash on my arm for a while and was mis-diagnosed with eczema and allergies for a while before the doctor agreed it might be scabies. The itching since spread everywhere, and two doses of Permethrin haven't made much difference. So I decided to try some oils.

I slathered castor oil all over me, and before long little black specks started coming out of my pores. Scary at first, and yes it hurts slightly, as if lots of splinters are coming out. I also got tiny, clear, round grains of hard sandy stuff, along with amber versions of the same thing, tiny egg-shaped things and larger egg-shaped things. Very disturbing indeed. I know that some people will say that this is Morgellens, but at the moment I'm choosing to believe that these are various stages of mites and their droppings and eggs. Some other websites comfirm this, and one of my GPs said that they've heard of this happening with scabies.

So I figured that it's all much better out than in and I'm continuing to do it. I'm also using olive oil or coconut oil sometimes, they seems to work too, although I'm thinking that castor oil, as a thicker oil is probably smothering the little creatures more, and I think I'm seeing slightly more stuff come out when I use it.

After doing it a few times I am feeling some relief today, (although I'm by no means cured). This could be because there is less stuff inside irritating me, or simply because my skin is more moisturised, but I'm going to continue with this because it seems to be working.

I've also tried diatomaceous earth, which didn't work, sadly, even when I mixed it with grapeseed oil. I am drinking it though, 1 tsp in water each day, but I'm not sure that drinking it is effective for scabies, which isn't a stomach-related parasite.

And bleach baths also didn't seem to do much, although they did clear some burrows under my fingernail. I was pleasantly surprised by that! But don't seem to help other than that.

I also tried hydrogen peroxide and borax mixed with water. Also didn't work. Tea tree oil provides some temporary relief, and I bought some clove oil, but I'm reallly too scared to put it on my skin, even mixed heavily with oil.

I guess different things work for different people. Will carry on with the oils and report back.

    Bleach
Posted by Birdsong (Salisbury, Australia) on 08/22/2012

I would be very cautious using bleach on exposed skin. My sister ended up in hospital with an Asthma attack with no previous history of Asthma, or future occurances of Asthma like symptoms, after breathing it in simply using it as a household cleaner!

As with any treatment, I have found it wise to ask oneself, do the possible benefits outweigh the risks? Just a thought.

    Sulphur

PLEASE listen to me! I contacted scabies from a client in a health spa that I work in. I had NO idea what it was at first. A small rash, itchy on the palm of one hand. I am now 3 mos. into it and about to blow my brains out! We cleaned the bedding every day on 'sanitize' in my washer, cleaned everything and I took clorox baths with sulphur soap and sulpher cream. I STILL have it and the eggs and got new bumps off and on and trail marks. SO, I went back and read lots of things on the net and this is what I did and what has worked more than all the creams, oils, lotions, baths etc.

USE BORAX!!! take a borax bath and soak for 20 minutes. Then, get a spray bottle and fill with water and lots of borax. Shake it up good and spray yourself. I also used castor oil/borax paste and put all over myself. I woke up this morning and everything has changed! The places are GONE and my skin looks almost normal!! I spent SO much MONEY on that other stuff! ALSO, I finally listened and wrapped my mattress in plastic (buy a drop cloth at Lowe's). I was washing so much and spraying the bed, but didn't encase it in plastic. The clorax helped at first with the places, but never killed the eggs. Plus, my skin was getting raw and sore.

I'd also like to know what percentage Hydrogen Peroxide you put in the bath? I have the 3%, is that strong enough? And how many cups/ml?? Thanks.

    Clove Oil
Posted by Lee (Chattanooga, Tn) on 08/11/2012

Our scabies nightmare began in Las Vegas--from a scabies-infested sleeper sofa at a high-end hotel. Within a week, the infestation had spread from one apartment, to a second home, to 2 cars, and nearly everything we owned. Life was miserable.

After battling scabies for nearly a year-including several rounds of doctor-prescribed meds, assorted veterinary medicines, and miscellaneous home remedies that did not work, I discovered the clove BUD oil remedy study. I started the test myself by ordering a few bottles of clove BUD oil (which is what the study used) and set out for a cure. In the meantime, my relative continued using another remedy.

Instead of mixing the clove with oil (which I found was messy, created even more of a laundry mess, and became a hazard when bathing), I mixed the clove bud oil with a THIN moisturizing lotion for extra-dry skin that I found at a dollar store.

I poured a half-bottle of the lotion into a margarine tub (later I used an extra bottle) and added about 20-30 drops of the clove oil. I shook it well and allowed it to sit for several hours before applying. I then showered and thoroughly exfoliated--and then I applied this clove-lotion blend from toes to neck (and ALL crevices in between! ) while the body was still damp. I then air-dried--no toweling off! The body MUST be covered with the lotion 24-7. The clove bud oil is not only a natural repellant, it also penetrates the skin surface and hair follicles, so you want to keep as much of it on your body as possible at all times.

(HUGE TIP: While you are undergoing this treatment, apply the lotion after each shower--preferably twice each day, including before bed. DO NOT CHANGE CLOTHES ANYWHERE EXCEPT IN TUB OR SHOWER! Bag and tie dirty clothes immediately until washed.)

And regardless of what the "books" say, scabies DO infest the hair-and will actually burrow into hair follicles. Always apply shampoo to dry hair--and leave on as long as possible before rinsing. THEN apply a thick conditioner (add a little clove oil) and cover your head with a plastic shower cap. Sleep in it--and rinse out in the a. M. I was desperate enough to put the clove lotion on my head as well--slept in a plastic cap--and got quick results in eliminating the critters there.

I used a Q-tip with straight clove bud oil on any tracks or visible signs of the infestation. If I felt something crawling, I applied either straight clove oil to an extended area of the "crawling" or applied an additional coating of the lotion. (If you have a strong magnifying glass, check areas where there are tracks and where you have applied straight clove bud oil. You will see gas bubbles just beneath the skin indicating the critters and eggs are dead or dying.)

I also coated brows, lashes, nostrils, and ears with petroleum jelly before bed every night--and, if facial skin could tolerate it, also applied the clove bud lotion to the face.

Within a couple of days, the mites were running for cover. If you did not start out with the critters in the "private areas" previously, they will make a bee-line to escape the lotion now and you will feel them in the crease of the legs, waist areas, buttocks, etc. In fact, our experience taught us that you may not THINK you have them there--but you do. We used a slightly diluted lotion on those sensitive areas (even added a little diatamaceous earth to the lotion in the beginning to increase adhesion of the lotion. ) It's important to keep the area coated at all times in the beginning. The sudden surge in itching and crawling told me that had been a hiding place for quite a while and nights were a bit uncomfortable until I got a handle on them.

Within 2 weeks, there was a noticeable decrease in numbers and life became more bearable. I felt comfortable enough with the progress to encourage my relative to also begin the treatment. She was suffering a far more serious infestation because she was the one initially infected. She declined and continued on with her own remedies, still desperate.

By the end of the month, I knew I was on the right track and INSISTED that she start using my "home remedy. " She did--and had the SAME astounding results within 2 weeks! The relief was so tremendous that I couldn't tear her away from continuing the experiment!

It took time because the infestations were so advanced, but within 3-4 months, we were confident enough to declare ourselves CURED. Not "sorta" or "kinda" cured--but cured! I could finally put bed linen back on the bed and sleep without being tormented.

Still, I continued with the scrupulous laundry/sanitation practices we'd been using to ensure no critters had escaped, including treating the car with permethrin spray created by mixing 1 tube of a 45% "spot on" over-the-counter flea and tick solution with 1 cup of water. This was misted on the car from top to bottom about once each 2 weeks, along with frequent vacuuming. This remedy came as the result of spraying borax in the vehicles--which quickly corroded metal parts. (CAUTION: DO NOT USE PERMETHRIN ON FURNISHINGS OR CARPET IF YOU HAVE CATS--IT CAN BE FATAL! )

We also discovered that hot water washing was not necessary and that alone resulted in huge energy savings. A cold-water soaking in any detergent for several hours or preferably overnight, along with 1-2 cups of ammonia in the soak water, worked better than borax or other recommended remedies and did not damage clothes. This is highly recommended for your bed linens and towels. We continued 30 minutes to 1 hour high-heat drying to be on the safe side.

We also discovered that you must remove and soak in hot soapy water any earrings, jewelry, eye glasses, combs, hair brushes, and other items after wearing or using them ONCE. Let them soak at least an hour, then rinse and air dry. Scabies will set up house in hinges and nooks of these items. During the duration of the treatment, I gave up wearing a watch as well.

Freeze all makeup, wallets, purses, belts, makeup bags EVERY DAY. Wash and then freeze makeup brushes each time they are used, including removing brushes from mascara before freezing. Books and magazines should be put in plastic bags with a few mothballs--or freeze them. Cell and home phones, remotes, etc. , should be cleaned every day with germicidal wipes--and wash and freeze the cell phone covers as well. This may seem to be overboard, but ANYTHING you carry or touch can spread the critters.

If I can warn against anything, it is giving up too soon and jumping from one remedy to another in hope of faster results. Remember, you are having to eliminate the entire life cycle of generations of these critters that have already infested your body. It's going to take time to eliminate them all, because new ones are constantly maturing. We saw a change within 2 weeks--and then it began improving drastically from that point. We stuck with the regimen--and it worked when nothing else we tried did.

I would strongly encourage anyone struggling with this terrible infestation to at least give it a try--and stick with it for at least a month! It works!

    Multiple Remedies
Posted by Mel (Newton, Kansas, United States) on 08/08/2012

If you're looking here, I don't have to tell you, the conventional treatment for scabies is very toxic and should be avoided; in addition, there are permethrin-resistant scabies, but no essential-oil-resistant scabies. I just wanted to add my experience, because this website was such an incredible blessing at a very scary time. It took a week or longer to identify the scabies on my 6 y.o. daughter; intially, we thought chiggers, misquitoes or fleas. Then, the trails showed up and I knew (I direct a residential placement and shelter for homeless/runaway teens, so I am familiar with scabies--still, it took a while to identify! ). She NEVER got them between her fingers or around her waist; instead, behind her knee, around her neck, behind her ears and on one hip.

The first day was 16 hours straight of deep cleaning (instructions follow). Normally, only bedding and clothing is washed, but I had one day off of work to knock it out. I used the collective wisdom found here and on other websites, and this is what we did:

for my affected daughter, I rubbed her down with the following (each seperately, in this order):

    * Alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
    * Lavender oil;
    * Extra Virgin Coconut oil (edible, not a beauty product)--into which I mixed lavender oil and tea tree oil;
    * Tea tree oil;
    * Let sit x 30 min, then had her soak in a hot bath with Borax (in the laundry detergent aisle).

For the rest of my un-affected family, I rubbed us down with the Coconut Oil/Lavender oil/ Tea Tree oil mixture, let sit x 30 min. , then soaked in the Borax bath.

For my affected daughter, I treated her 3 x the first day (I only used the hand sanitizer the first time, as I am not a fan of this stuff). I let it soak over night. She was scrubbed down the next morning. For days 2-4 she was treated morning and night, but I no longer scrubbed her down. I added orange oil on the 2nd day (didn't have it the first day). I put tea tree directly on the affected areas, then covered her with a Coconut Oil/Tea Tree/Orange Oil/ Lavender mixture. (My husban is a functional medicine doc, and said there is no advantage to the seperate layers--he says folks just buy into more complicated procedures! )

In addition, Day 1: I vacuumed all soft surfaces, washed all bedding in the household, swept and vacuumed hardwood/tile floors, used bleach-water on all hardwood/tile floors, wrapped my affected daughter's matress in heavy plastic sheeting and duct tape, put all soft toys/pillows through the washer/dryer OR through a hot dryer OR in a bag in the freezer. Also, I set my vacuum out doors x 3 days (after I emptied it at the outside dumpster), changed my affected daughters bedding nightly for 4 nights, frequently put tea tree oil on the affected sites (on my daughter). In addition, I frequently sprayed pillows, soft furniture, curtains and matresses down with a water-based solution with approx. 30 drops each of lavendar, orange oil, and tea tree oil--put with 16 oz. Of water in a spray bottle, shake before use. (I've been asked if it stained--I did not notice any stains.)

The itching does continue for a while, but the 'sores' looked better by the 2nd day. I did let my daughter use benadryl nightly for itching x 3-4 days. She liked being rubbed down! We talked about it being like a spa. Note: the only places I did not rub her down were her face and the soles of her feet! I wish you all the best!!!
