Sulphur

I've had mites for years and the ONLY thing that worked for me was rubbing wettable sulfur powder on my skin while I was sweating profusely in a Sauna. Did that daily or every other day for over a month. It was the ONLY way to get any relief from the constant pin prick bites and never seeing anything on my skin but bites or welts. MUST keep hydrated when using a Sauna but it was a true life saver.

I have had what was diagnosed as Contact Dermatitis for over a year. I almost lost the battle because of low immunity from RA and the Drs prescribing me steroids which lowered my immunity even more. I found Earth Clinic through this website- http://www.delusionalinsects.com/styled-40/styled-23/styled-25/ which both have helped me immensely. I am on the Keto diet so no sugar and low carbs -I am currently using a zinc pyrithione bar from amazon Apple Cider Vinegar or Vinegar after the zinc then cover the bad spots with turmeric paste. I also take Hydrogen Peroxide, salt and Borax baths every time I feel I need to. I have been taking Vitamin C- B Complex--Zinc- Astragalus- Quercetin- Elderberry- Echinacea-D3-Andrographis-Coconut oil-Silver Hydrosol(teaspoon first thing in morning)Apple Cider Vinegar (mixed with DE and water with some Stevia) cold brew coffee- low acid coffee beans- Chaga Mushroom tea-Green Tea- Echanatia Tea 9.5 PH balanced water and Im starting MSM in the morning. Im learning that the RA might be a form of yeast or fungus so hopefully if the MSM works it could knock out both problems - This is also a helpful website - https://youarethehealer.org/health-conditions/a-z/demodex-mites/ which helped me identify the possible yeast and fungal problem. I have also used Tea Tree oil, Clove oil, Neem oil, Yogurt, Hypoclorus Acid MG217 Psoriasis Medicated Conditioning 3% Coal Tar Shampoo, and possibly others I am forgetting. It is all consuming my life and I came so close to the edge but God in Hi mercy brought me back and here I am. I look at pictures of myself before this began and I dont even know who that person is anymore. And as bad as that sounds I dont think I would want to go back to who I was because this horrific experience has brought me an understanding of how to be grateful I would have never known or recognized before. Hopefully the MSM will wipe out the rest, God Bless you all and good luck!

Cold, Witch Hazel

We have mites of some sort and are going crazy. It is so frustrating to feeling these things crawling on us, biting us, and unable to see anything. We first noticed them on our dog when we petted him and before long they seemed to be everywhere there was fabric or carpet. We keep trying tons of things and have found two remedies to be very effective.

1. Cold: for clothing, bedding and shoes, like outside freezing temperatures or the freezer for 8 hours.

2. Witch hazel for a body wash or spot treat on the body. I suggest these to methods be added to the natural remedies.

Here is a recipe with natural ingredients to remove mites from the body.

  • 4 cups vinegar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup witch hazel

After showering, spray on in the shower and rub. Air dry.

Olive Oil

About olive oil to cure mites. YES!!! My 12 dogs were gifted with mites by the neighbour's woof. I also got it.

It was torture. For 4 months not one of us slept as we all scratched all night. After trying every natural remedy and ultimately resorting to toxic stuff from the chemist, all without result, I was absolutely desperate and saw no way out.

Then on Earthclinic I read about oil and tried and we were all cured overnight. I assume it smothers the mites but does not kill the eggs as two weeks later it flared a little. So I "soaked" them and myself all in oil again and now 2 months later it is a forgotten episode.

Also handy to tell is that olive oil has also saved many of my rescue puppies who came down with Parvo virus. I squirt one syringe of high strength dissolved vitamins into their mouth and follow 30 minutes later with a syringe of olive oil. About 2 tablespoons. And you will be shocked to see them vomit and poo tons of worms too, shortly afterwards. This knowledge is the reward of a long lifetime of loving and observing dogs.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Salt
Posted by Mite Girl (Brighton) on 11/08/2016

After what feels like eternal hell, I am down to the last few mites in a relatively short time (about 2 weeks). I hardly feel much movement now but I will keep this up for at least another 2-3 months. Here is the sum total of everything I do:

Drink 1/4 teaspoon borax in 1 litre water 5 days on, 2 days off.

Take a hot bath every night with 1/2 cup borax, quite a bit of salt and epsom salts (the salt kills them in the bath quickly). Hose down well before getting out of the bath.

In the morning I shower with shower gel mixed with freshly prepared mustard, and I mix some in with my shampoo.

I really feel its important to shower / bath twice a day. Obviously I cant see mites in the shower, but on the water surface of the bath its amazing how many critters you can see floating. The baths and showers really help get a truck load off in one go. I can't stress the importance of salt enough - best thing ever.

I have 2 spray bottles - one with a good amount of apple cider vinegar (approx 1/8 of the bottle) double the amount of water and about a tablespoon of salt). When I feel any crawling I zap them. Spray myself down fully at least once a day. I use the other bottle with same ingredients but instead of apple cider vinegar, I use cheap distilled vinegar. I use this to spray my bed, sheets and pillows when I get up, my robe, flip flops, bathmat, sofa, rugs, cats (who hate me now), towel, car, shoes once I've worn them. Once I started treating my environment like this I had real quick progress.

I also by chance found out that Oxy Powder tablets really help as well, but I think you would probably get results anyway if you cant find it. I have tried substituting with Colosan as it's a similar product but a lot cheaper, and it doesn't work.

The salt is incredible - it kills them so fast. The salt and treating my environments have been the biggest factors in finally triumphing in this long, long war. Now has anyone got any recommendations for scar removal??

Treat the Septic System
Posted by Ike (Two Mile, Tn.) on 03/14/2015

i"ll try to make this as short as possible. Hope it's helpful to someone. If you have a septic tank on your home and you're washing your clothes w/mites you are washing the eggs right into your plumbing system. They hatch in the septic system and crawl right back up the drain and into your floor boards. The boxed stuff at the grocery store won "t kill " em either! That's what happened to me. You have to treat your septic system! Not sure with what; pool chlorine? Also keep bleach tablets in toilet water, I wrap these things in tissue paper and drown em in it, usually combined w/"urine therapy". When I wash my hands and brush my nails, I also make sure anything that came off of them goes completely through the trap under the sink and down the drain, you don"t want them crawling up the sink drain. I spray w/bleach cleaner immediately also. Didn't see this anywhere on your site. The septic tank is usually installed within 20 ft. of the main bathroom on most houses. This may be the reason some people aren't getting anywhere in the battle. Hope this helps somebody.

Multiple Remedies
Posted by Mariam (Brooklyn) on 03/17/2015

Good morning again, I'm posting what I hope is my final chapter on this crazy mites episode of my life. I am sitting here in absolute bliss. My final "cure" for mite madness is simply garlic. Yep. Mother Nature is best. Thank you, mama! I used the garlic by repeatedly cutting a thin "skin" to expose a moist surface area on the garlic "face" and rubbing the liquid on my scalp, skin, soles, palms anywhere itching, wriggling, running, moving and voila! All movements STOP immediately! The skin feels soothed, non-inflamed, or no longer "hot".

For "interior" areas-the nose, genitals, etc. I cut thin shears of garlic, gently leave in place for several minutes, also squeeze juice onto q-tip and apply. You will have to "revisit" the same areas with the garlic but I use a "scrubbing" action with the garlic in my skin where I'm feeling anything. But skin is a large surface. This definitely has fixed my problem and fast! Praise be to the ancestors!

Caveats: Garlic is very strong, be gentle around eyes. Also, stay indoors when using unless you really don't care to offend. I went out and didn't care because at this point I'm saving my life... I have tried many of the shared options with limited success. Since my earlier post, I added some other regimens besides the combo essential oils, including drinking ACV 2x daily, topically applying Hydrogen peroxide 3% food grade to "runners and biters" and wriggling under skin, and aloe vera (around eyes; gentle, kept them out of eyes due to its sticky ability). These were great and kept me functioning. However garlic has been the cure for me and works on all and immediately.

NOTE: I am appalled, as many others, that there is no definitive research available to the general public on this problem. I'm dismayed by the dismissive, cavalier way I was treated by the medical community. This has been an emotional rollercoaster with severe impacts to my psyche, family, relationship, business. It can be very debilitating and have you contemplating suicide! This has been the only public forum that I have found (I'm forever grateful EC) that is giving the sufferers a chance to be heard, to share potential cures. It's disgusting that something as communicable as mite infestation in HUMANS, other than scabies, is not addressed by Public Health practitioners, and medical doctors are so unaware, and yet arrogant and non-plussed. There is a one size fits all attitude that keeps insisting that you must be having a psychotic break, yet there is no interest

In looking to assist, even by referral. There is very little will to do more than collect, catalog the patient/sufferer details by M.D.S. The epidemiologists, parasitologists are considered researchers and appear to be isolated from the medical practitioner system. BIG MISTAKE! One day, someone with more money, pedigree, time, than me will hold this system accountable! Thanks to all posters; keep sharing the tries, and the cures... I am sharing because there are answers for all questions including mite infestation. One's attitude and positive energy must be part of your healing. After being truly saddened, horrified at folks who have been suffering for YEARS! With what seems to be different types of mites (which doesn't matter when you're suffering) I said to myself NO WAY will I live like this! DO NOT GIVE UP!

Hi Om from BC - below is the posting of the person who cured them with Kerosene.

YEA] 06/09/2010:

Sharon from Wesley Chapel, Fl: "Well, I finally fixed it. Killed all the mites. Thanks and much thanks to Ted's borax remedy. However, what killed them fast is plain old lamp oil, coal oil, purified kerosene. Put in a sprayer bottle and went to town with the purified lamp oil sold in crafts store for the hurricane style lamps. Not much smell. Used the oil on my hands to treat my face. Really sprayed my long hair and scalp.didnt burn or have but one side effect-- brought all those critters up from underneath the skin and they chewed their way up. Looked like a sunburn where they were, and welts formed. But I kept dosing it the next day and the next and it dried them up. Itches were gone in 4 hours. First night I have slept thru the night in four years. At first I thought the lamp oil had burned me, but then I realized that it was only red where I was itching. Even my face and eyelids were not "sunburned" the tenderest part of the body. Now that I killed them on me, I treated the rest of the house, using Ted's borax mix, bleach where I could, took a week to treat everything properly to where I was not getting bit. Its been 4 weeks. Once you kill them on yourself and have a quick spray-on for the re-infections, it goes fast. The cars were the worst problem. Hooray

Hi All! All of you need to get neem oil, cedarwood oil, tea tree oil, peppermint oil and virgin coconut oil.

Mix neem, cedar, peppermint (10 drops each oil) in some coconut oil. Apply this from head to toe. Cedarwood would suffocate the bugs and their larvae. Neem is a neuro toxin of some sort ONLY on them and not you. It makes them lose appetite for food and sex. If the eggs catch a bit of neem they become sterile. Peppermint calms the itchy bites. Coconut oil is a natural anti bacteria and virus. Apply this mix after shower. During the shower - use a shampoo with added teatree oil, neem oil and cedarwood oil.
Vaccum the house. Then mop the house with the same mix of oils in the mopbucket water.

Spray your bed mattress and wooden frame with the above oils added to the water. Best is to fogg the house with cedarwood oil and neem oil. Kills everything from bedbugs, lice, mites, fleas- the lot! For those who have the dried up skin that the mites have used.... apply apple cider vinegar and then 10 minutes later apply lavender essential oil too. All the best!

Listerine, Eliminate Sugar

Re Mite infestation cures;

For around 3.5 years I had mites. At first they would get me in bed or when I sat on the couch. I thought fleas, baby ones, so I de flea the cats, the bed, the couch the house but still I feel them crawling in my ears, eyes and up my nose eventually everywhere. I was going mad. They attacked me at work too. I searched for them, used a magnifying glass of high strength, went to the DR, went to the health shops. Rosasia appeared and got in my eyes as well as my whole face. I looked so bad and felt miserable. My family did not get them. But why not?

I showered every day and night, washed everything every day, vacuumed the entire house and bed every day for years and during that time I put everything on me that I read might work. I became the chemical woman, then the natural cure woman and eventually just to sleep I stuffed my ears with wet cotton wool so I could sleep, I believed they came up through the pillow just to get in my ears. Yes they were mites and they nearly drove me around the bend and back again. I have probably poisoned myself so have had to detox my self.

I started to keep a note of exactly when they attacked, one common denominator surfaced. It was when I was still that they got me and they attacked in force when it was dark and I was still. Conclusion was it was me, the mites live on me. Of all the things I tried one helped initially and may have killed most of them and the other stopped them in their tracks. But the thing that made them go away was piece of advice from my boss who had heard of it before in Columbia.

Firstly I sprayed the bed and myself and everywhere I layed or sat with plain Original Listerine, yes this well and truely got rid of a lot of them but I couldnt put it near my eyes or nose and eventually the undiluted listering burnt me. I read on this site that saliva works and yes it does oh joy it works and all I had to do was pur it anywhere I could feel them. But what really really worked was the advice from my boss..... Stop having sugar!! I immediatly stopped putting sugar in drinks or in anything I ate, I bought non sugar youhurt and reduced it else where. NO MORE MITES at all. They come back when I have a couple of days where I have indulged in coffee with sugar and I generally have too much sugar than is good for me anyway. If they appear the saliva stops them. Saliva has a potent acid when on skin so I guess it kills them. Safe for my nose and eyelids and ears too.

I am so relieved to be free of this torture. The Rosasia started to go when I gave up smoking.

I hope this helps someone somewhere. So please at least give this a go for a couple of weeks at least... stop your sugar intake and use your saliva on your skin and Listerine on where you sit or lay.

Jan's Recipe

I have cured Cheyletiella and also skin yeast infection with this recipe. It took me 11 months, a lot of research and was hit and miss until I finally came up with the following. Please pass this along because I know what it is to suffer with this, and I have never had anything worse.

Here is my remedy-
2 oz. Virgin coconut oil heated to where it is just melted
2 oz of colloidal silver (This is important - it must be at least 50ppm. I make my own. )
1 oz of red liquid liniment from old company established in 1868 starts with "W", which contains camphor, capsicum and spruce oil
1/2 oz. Liquid vitamin E which helps the skin to heal faster and reduce scarring
1/2 tsp. MSM
15-20 drops clove oil

Shake to mix and apply on skin once daily until the mites are gone. It is actually very soothing. It also worked on the dog. I sprayed straight colloidal silver on the cat as needed. Any area that itched I sprayed and it seems to kill them within seconds, but again, it has to be at least 50ppm. You will stop itching within days, and should be mite free in less than two weeks.

Borax

You can get ivermectin at Tractor Supply co, too, and it's not too pricey. It's the same stuff they use for dogs between the shoulder blades. I use it for my chickens when they get mites. You can also get syringes without the needle to draw it up into so you get the correct dose if you get the liquid. You'd be amazed at what you can get at farm supply places that you pay an awful lot for at the pharmacy or can't even get anymore.

Diatomaceous Earth, Peppermint and Oregano Oils

Thanks for Earth Clinic I was totally free from mites pick up from handling fire wood. My doctor had prescribed medication that I had read on Earth Clinic was very toxic and didn't work that well. I didn't want any part of this if I could avoid it. I also read someone on Earth Clinic recommended Diatomaceous Earth which I have used for years for internal parsites with great success. I decided to try the diatomaceous earth first. Wasn't real sure it would work because the mites are in my skin not inside of me. Since diatomaceous earth is non toxic I wanted to try it first. Have to interject I did try other topical remedies - different essential oils and others things with no relieve. I am amazed in 3 days of diatomaceous earth no mites. I took 1 heaping teaspoon in a half of glass of water a day. I did have trouble with the mites remaining in my hands. I read in the Young Living desk reference book that equal amounts of peppermint oil and oregano oil would kill chiggers or ticks. I mix these two together and experienced lots of itching for about 30 seconds and then they died. Thanks Earth Clinic and all of those who post here.

Essential Oils, Turmeric

I have suffered with a mite infestation for 3 months, which was seemingly was contracted from bales of sugar cane mulch I had used.

The Dr. gave me a cream to apply all over my body - to which I had an allergic reaction. I ended up on Steroid tablets to reduce the itch & inflammation as well as anti-histamine tablets.

None of these eradicated the mites.

I decided to take a bath to which I added Himalayan Salt & about 9 drops of tea tree essential oil - & stayed in the bath for 1 hr. It made sense the mites would not like salt. If you live near the ocean - go and bathe in natures salt water.

I mixed an oil application which gave me immediate relief as well as reduced the skin irritation & redness.

50 ml of Neem Oil; 50 ml of Coconut oil, 1/2 teaspoon of Turmeric powder; 50 drops of Tea tree essential oil

I applied this all over my body twice yesterday - and after only 2 applications huge improvement. Neem oil has an unusual smell, however, who cares if it eradicates the mites.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Dear Kt,

I think garlic for mites makes a lot of sense. In addition to making the body less pleasant for parasites it strengthens the immune system.

Selenium Sulfide Shampoo

I finally found a cure for mite infestations, selenium sulfide shampoo. You do it every day for 7 days straight, then twice a week until you stop feeling them. No drinking alcohol because it will bring them right back your body is dehydrated all the nerve endings and it attracts the mites to your body so if you shampoo like I said 7 straight days and then twice a week after that it will start to clear up meanwhile you need to clean your house used to premethrim spray leave the house that's what I do I leave the house for the whole day after I spray everything outside sidewalks your car you have to heat it up to at least a hundred fifty degrees.i used a electric grill put it inside the car when the extension cord out in the sun put a thermometer in there to check the temperature get it up to at least a hundred and thirty forty fifty degrees. The car is the hardest thing to get rid of them.

Bird Mite Remedies
Posted by Bonnieji (Long Beach, Ca) on 06/11/2015

Bird Mite alert... for all those out there that have home infestation of Bird Mites, pls remember it is very important not to steam clean your carpet! Do Not introduce moisture into your home environment, particularly moisture on your carpet... these tenacious nasty critters love moisture!

Keep in mind those whom use Diatomaceous Earth on or around your pet, to make sure to use Food Grade DE. Food grade DE can be powdered on your pets fur. Also, FG DE can be used internally to rid parasites. A shampoo I heard is helpful for pets is http://www.revivalanimal.com/Goodwinol-Shampoo.html. Heard "Revolution" topical flea treatment is helpful. For ear mites I recommend this product... http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/Newton-Homeopathics-Ear-Care/161009.aspx.

This is my first experience with Bird Mites, or any mite infestation, and I pray the last! I have used DE all over my carpet, crevices, along base of base board, as soon as I knew about the bird mites, I can't swear by it's effectiveness, but do feel it has helped, messy as hell, but I do feel it has helped nip it in the bud a bit. I put it outside by my front door, as well as, Borax... the infected bird nest was above my front door, in open eave - ugh! Mites migrated into my bedroom, once nest was abandoned through window.

PCO/Pest Control has to come clean out attic, take away abandoned nest, and treat home with miticide fumigant.

Be careful when vaccuming up DE it can harm some vacs, but if you have a filter, that's good, just be sure to clean it out frequently! Borax is preferable, it won't harm vac. Before I vaccum every day, I'm sure to administer some Borax, so it kills any mites inside bag. But empty bag w/ each vac, and put in sealed plastic bag, and put outside trash.

ACV is good on body, also, essential oils, peppermint, Cedarwood oil, eucalyptus oil are my favorite. I put many drops in spray bottle, and spray my bed sheets, that is after I launder just before I go to bed. Spray around base of bed. If I feel anything crawly, I'll but oil non dilute on my hands and rub on my body, also on my cats, rub around neck, ears, top of head along back, belly/ Peppermint, and/or Cedarwood oil.

Also, I have found "Orange Guard" natural bug spray helpful. I will spray all around my room, along base of bed, behind bed behind desk. But remember nothing replaces vaccuming, laundering w/ HOT water, HOT dryer. Put things out in sun if can during the day. Launder, and put away excess pillows, and linens, after laundering to simplify, and eliminate hiding areas for these dasty critters! Cover your box spring mattress with plastic zip bag if you have one after treating. Make sure to put Borax along piping of your mattress. I spray under my mattress with essential oils every day, and night. Spray your walls with Essential oils.

One thing I did, that seemed helpful, is I smudged with a Cedar smudge stick. My infestation in primarily in my bedroom, so I smudged very heavily late in the day with my window closed until it filled my room with heavy smoke. Then I opened window, til dissipated to the point it didn't irritate my eyes, and in hopes those buggers would leave the room. Then I closed the window again. I usually keep the window closed all the time so they don't come back in. They are active at night, and don't like the UV's or sun. Once the offending/infested nest is removed, and attic is treated, and house is fumigated, I will continue with this routine for several weeks. Will have Pest Control come out and do second treatment a couple weeks after first treatment.

What ever you do, make sure no birds nests are on, in, or overhanging/close to your home. Bird mites do love chickens too, so be mindful of this.

One PCO was telling me he theorized this is becoming a problem, as a result of climate change, I.e. migration changes, chem trails, GMO chicken, and bird feed, lowering birds immune systems, and of course over use of pesticides - OY! Welcome to life out of balance, [

Hi, sea salt or regular ionized salt gets mites off body and kills them. Plus it makes your skin soft. Can use in hair also to kill mites. It will dry your hair out a little though so use a good conditioner afterwards. Plus use a lice comb with the conditioner in your hair before rinsing out you can add tea tree oil in conditioner. Bomb your house and car with hot shot bedbug and flea fogger. It works everytime. My cat I bathed with coconut and strawberry shampoo with a little tea tree oil. Also rubbing alcohol sprayed on bedding, mattress, pillows and carpet helped and kills. You can also use rubbing alcohol to kill lice. Also salt kills lice. Salt kills fleas in carpet. After spending thousands of dollars on everything else these are the only things that worked. Oh yeah. Wash all your clothes bedding and bomb at same time. Raid fogger didn't work. Only hotshot.

Also grapefruit seed oil added to water in a sprayer kills lice and mites around house. It's expensive but works. Plus it's all natural. Won't harm animals either. Add it to your shampoo and animal's shampoo. Can add to your drink for an internal cleanse of mites to as well . Colloidal silver is a great cleanse internally for mites. Just a few drops of either of these in a drink works. Also if you have a yard spray with mixture of grapefruit seed oil and water. It doesn't harm plants or animals. Salt mixture will also kill fleas out of dirt and rocks. God bless and good luck. You will be so happy after you try this. I promise. It is the cure.

Hi Elaine,

I became infested several years ago. The initial signs of Demodex mites appeared mainly on my limbs and torso. Then my hair started falling out by the handful. Went completely bald from front hairline to beginning of crown area. Lost all eyelashes and brows. Dermatologist gave me Soolantra samples (ineffective) My face was a mess of infected pimples. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that I tried every so called remedy out there. I am no longer bald, but my hair is still falling out. Apart from that, I have finally found a solution that has DRAMATICALLY reduced all signs and symptoms of mite infestation.Considering all that I've tried, what I currently do is fairly simple: Fill a spray bottle with 91% rubbing alcohol, buy a bag of cotton balls and Q-tips. When I feel that tiny bite or itch, I immediately spray the spot or area with alcohol - whether it's on my skin or on my scalp. (Alcohol kills the mite immediately - according to studies - & my experience). Saturate a cotton ball with alcohol and swab all red bites 1 or 2 times a day. I recently discovered Neem oil (unrefined organic cold-pressed) which has, among 100 other benefits for skin conditions, kills Demodex mites. I coat my face, affected body parts (limbs) - and also massage into my scalp. The results are miraculous for me. It smells unpleasant, but it dissipates by morning. But having the spray bottle at the ready is KEY. Killing the mite before it has a chance to get under the skin. Any new red spots need to be vigorously rubbed with a cotton ball soaked with alcohol. I hope this helps. Good luck and Best wishes.

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide

I had mites for almost two years. At first I had no idea why I was itchy tickley. I found this website and it was clear what was wrong.

I tried the borax under water with a snorkel etc., the mustard scrub in my soaps and swabbing with alcohol and tea tree oil, all gave some relief but did not get rid of the mites.

In June of last year at the coersion of my family I stopped taking HRT (mainly for hourly hot flashes) and started a couple of other things. I started taking Boron pills once in the morning and once before bed. I also took a sauna at the gym for 20 minutes 4 times a week. After about a month the tickles were gone, not in my nose, eyes, eyebrows or scalp.

I occasionally get itches on my head but nowhere else. I am not sure which one of these things got rid of them because it happened all at once.

I hope this helps, don't give up hope.
