Skin So Soft

If you want to know if you have mites, my mom discovered that using the skin so soft bug spray with picaridin cases them to pop out in aboout 2-3 minutes, and they don't seem to move for hours after. It also caused the nymph form to dig out rather rapidly as well. She was just trying to prevent infestion while mowing her yard. She had to shower after about 30 min to rinse all the little greyish specks off her.

Biting and Crawling Mites

Mite Infestation: Here is what some sufferers did with dry mustard powder... I'm going to try it too... Body wash: I mixed one level teaspoon of mustard powder using a measuring spoon with another of cold water, mixed well into a runny paste, and allowed it to stand for 10 minutes to allow the mustard to develop its full potency. To this, I added four ounces of body wash and mixed it thoroughly to ensure a homogenous result.
Body lotion: I used the same amount of mustard powder and water, mixed it well with three ounces of hydrating body lotion, and added five drops of glycerine, then mixed again thoroughly.

ALSO...lint roll clothing you were next to your skin, before wearing it; put all dirty clothes and clean clothes in plastic bags tied shut... Keeps bugs in and will keep them out too; use diamotaceous earth... (found at lawn and garden depts or at hardware stores... Try the 85% if you can get it; otherwise 77%) to powder your garbage, floors, etc. MMS, by Jim Humble, kills them in the house. I did this. 10 to 20 drops of activated MMS (look it up you'll see how) plus 16 oz of ACV in a spray bottle... Keep spraying daily! It works after awhile. Can also spray this on yourself. ALSO dry your clothes, then take them out, spray them with this mixture, and dry them again... It kills the bugs in them. My son told me about that. MMS is cheapest on ebay. WATCH out with scratching itchy places... I have felt things fly up and hit my face when scratching my foot... spray MMS mix and/or power DE (diatomaceous earth) all around when you have had to scratch.

ALSO...tincture of clove on the bandaid overnight kills a new bug bite; tea tree oil on the bandaid overnight and/or all day leaves a scab there also... but I think tincture of clove is stronger; I just can't afford everything, right? I have more rashes now than bites, so I'm treating areas.

Okay, I hope some of this helps. I also am using hydrogen peroxide, 2 oz with 40 drops of tea tree oil on my rashes... I spray it directly on and also on panty lines which I tape over the rashy area. On the private area I use a mix of Dollar Tree buttpaste, raw coconut oil (think foodstamps lol), tea tree oil (10 drops per TBS of coconut oil), and chest rub from dollar tree (no chems in that one). For some reason, it keeps the itching down PTL.

Trying pine tar soap, but living in a tent and using someone else's bathroom, due to my abusive family and this problem combined... so it's difficult.

Stay focused... This is your mountain right now... climb and gather your strength, k?

Love you! Heal quickly by God's grace.

Lamp Oil, Borax

Well, I finally fixed it. Killed all the mites. Thanks and much thanks to Ted's borax remedy. However, what killed them fast is plain old lamp oil, coal oil, purified kerosene. Put in a sprayer bottle and went to town with the purified lamp oil sold in crafts store for the hurricane style lamps. Not much smell. Used the oil on my hands to treat my face. Really sprayed my long hair and scalp.didnt burn or have but one side effect-- brought all those critters up from underneath the skin and they chewed their way up. Looked like a sunburn where they were, and welts formed. But I kept dosing it the next day and the next and it dried them up. Itches were gone in 4 hours. First night I have slept thru the night in four years. At first I thought the lamp oil had burned me, but then I realized that it was only red where i was itching. Even my face and eyelids were not "sunburned" the tenderest part of the body. Now that I killed them on me, I treated the rest of the house, using Ted's borax mix, bleach where I could, took a week to treat everything properly to where I was not getting bit. Its been 4 weeks. Once you kill them on yourself and have a quick spray-on for the re-infections, it goes fast. The cars were the worst problem. Hooray

I have had what was diagnosed as Contact Dermatitis for over a year. I almost lost the battle because of low immunity from RA and the Drs prescribing me steroids which lowered my immunity even more. I am on the Keto diet so no sugar and low carbs -I am currently using a zinc pyrithione bar from amazon Apple Cider Vinegar or Vinegar after the zinc then cover the bad spots with turmeric paste. I also take Hydrogen Peroxide, salt and Borax baths every time I feel I need to. I have been taking Vitamin C- B Complex--Zinc- Astragalus- Quercetin- Elderberry- Echinacea-D3-Andrographis-Coconut oil-Silver Hydrosol(teaspoon first thing in morning)Apple Cider Vinegar (mixed with DE and water with some Stevia) cold brew coffee- low acid coffee beans- Chaga Mushroom tea-Green Tea- Echanatia Tea 9.5 PH balanced water and Im starting MSM in the morning. Im learning that the RA might be a form of yeast or fungus so hopefully if the MSM works it could knock out both problems - This is also a helpful website - https://youarethehealer.org/health-conditions/a-z/demodex-mites/ which helped me identify the possible yeast and fungal problem. I have also used Tea Tree oil, Clove oil, Neem oil, Yogurt, Hypoclorus Acid MG217 Psoriasis Medicated Conditioning 3% Coal Tar Shampoo, and possibly others I am forgetting. It is all consuming my life and I came so close to the edge but God in Hi mercy brought me back and here I am. I look at pictures of myself before this began and I dont even know who that person is anymore. And as bad as that sounds I dont think I would want to go back to who I was because this horrific experience has brought me an understanding of how to be grateful I would have never known or recognized before. Hopefully the MSM will wipe out the rest, God Bless you all and good luck!

Apple Cider Vinegar and Salt

Like so many others on here, I have suffered with the dreaded mites for months. I picked them up from a yoga retreat in India. we had mini bean bags to place over our eyes in a meditation session and I felt hundreds of tiny beings descend from the bean bags and invade my face. After looking up and trying remedy after remedy, I found a solution on here - I can't remember who it was but thank you so much!! I sprayed a solution of apple cider vinegar, water and salt on my hair, myself, my bedding, carpets and my cats and I went to bed - with nothing crawling on me. Every time I feel a wriggle I spray it and it stops immediately. I can't give you the doses as I just poured - it was approximately 1/2 vinegar, 1/2 water and about 3-4 tablespoons of salt. So extremely effective and easy, and an easy, non-toxic and quick way to treat your whole environment, including your mattress. I hope this helps you.

I have been dealing with mites of sorts. Constantly having creepy crawling feeling, when I would feel a bite or an itch, I would smack the area and always find a tiny little thing, almost like sand (sometimes larger, sometimes white brown or black) and thinking it was a coincidence. I started digging deeper once my daughter started getting bit and my husband even began to be itchy. Even when I was near my coworkers I noticed they started scratching incessantly!! Once I realized it was mites, I had a semi nervous breakdown and became angry.

Plan of action:

Washed everyone in my home (toddler, husband, 2 dogs) in T-Gel shampoo and washed all of our clothes in hot water and borax then sprayed everyone with pure white vinegar and peppermint oil

Then sprayed the outside of our house with ortho home max which worked wonders (a little scary but whatever works)

Put all of our clothes into garbage bags with the eucalyptus scent and lived out of those

Vacuumed everything! And mopped with vinegar and windex

Put cedarwood and eucalyptus incents everywhere!! And put those cedar moth replant things in all of our clothing drawers

After a day, I found nothing on me. Not one thing!!! I was so used to feeling around my skin and picking off litte pieces of sand and there was nothing!! No more creepy crawly feeling, no more anything. I also started taking sovereign silver twice a day. I still find mites around but they don't bite or bother any longer thank god. My husband just sprayed ortho home max inside today so I'm hoping that will get rid of the remaining mites. Try it! Can't hurt!!

I have had an infestation of mites in my home for 6 months and was nearly at my wits end.

I tried at first to attack them with pyrethrum and then permethrin. I used these in conjunction with pre-core( a supposed life cycle interrupter). I used foggers and on and on it was all very costly and in the long run mostly not effective.

The natural things I've discovered lately seem to work much better.

Getting them off of your skin:

They don't like Salt, Borax, Peroxide, Heat - these are your weapons

I was showering in high heat and using very sudsy soaps with a loofah which helps. The most effective method I've found is making a mixture of epsom salt with lavender and peroxicare toothpaste and a little hot water (the mixture should be a thin paste consistency). Apply to the affected area after showering. Leave to dry for 15 minutes and then use a hair dryer on high heat as hot as you can stand it and you will watch the symptoms vanish before your very eyes within minutes. The lesions will turn from bright red to white and then vanish.

To keep them off is a challenge because they like to reinfest the same areas so they can reuse the feeding tubes which they insert into your skin. If you have a saltwater body of water near you I've found repeated soaking in salt sea water kills them.

Clothing:

Clothing is a real problem this is probably the greatest threat for re-exposure. I found that High heat is the best solution. I wash clothing in borax and detergent in hot water. I dry on high heat twice. I use a steam iron and steam press ALL my clothing. They seem to lay eggs in cloth they also seem to like cotton knits. With a life cycle of 4 to 8 days it's tough to keep all your clothing clean. You have to be relentless.

Internally:

Build your immune system with apple cider vinegar and vitamin C, B 12, magnesium, zinc, and Garlic seems to be effective.

Clean the house daily with Borax and bleach mop all flooring with HOT water. They like to lay in the corners where the walls meet. Try to remove all or as much carpeting from the house as you can. They can hide in carpeting hard surfaces like ti9le are much easier to clean and keep clean. Carpets and cloth sofas can be cleaned with HOT steam.

To kill mites with heat must be at least 165f or preferably up to 212F.

I used ACV to try and cure candida, i'm not really sure if i have a candida problem but after taking any amount, even 1 teaspoon in water, my face will turn red and feel warm. Mainly my cheeks. Is this a reaction between candida and the ACV?

It's not Candida, it's probably the Human Demodex:

It sounds like you have a mild case of rosacea. Try Ted's recipe of 50/50 of Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide to kill the human demodex mites. We all have these mites but those who naturally have oilier skin seem to be an ideal host for this parasite.

I have used the following routine which cleared up rosacea in less than a week. My face was full of blackheads, whiteheads, puspules, after I had a stressful minor accident or around PMS. My face felt like I had a sunburn with minor itching, especially on my cheeks. I've always had flare ups on my T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) but noticed blackheads spreading on my cheeks. Benzoyl Peroxide did not help - it caused more flaky skin - dry and oily skin at the same time. Also, my eyes felt like there was always something in it - like a eyelash or grit. One eye was puffy especially in the morning.

My doctor prescribed Topical Metronidazole and to wash with a mild beauty bar soap. Also to wear sunscreen daily.

Day 1: Evening at Bedtime: Topical Metronidazole (0.75%) all over the face including eyebrows and eye lashes, and eye lids. Effect: Felt tingling for less than 5 minutes then nothing. Slept a very deep and restful sleep.

Morning Day 2: Red flushing of cheeks gone. Washed face with mild beauty bar, as directed by my doctor. Skin felt and looked better than the day before. Applied Topical Metronidazole all over. Applied a light mineral powder for makeup coverage.

Evening Day 2: By dinnertime, face was quite an unpleasant greasy feeling but the redness was subsiding but new pimples appeared but looked like they were healing except for one. According to the lifecycle of the human demodex mite, this was normal - the immune system is trying to fight the mite as the mite is dying off in large quantities. That evening, washed face just with the beauty bar twice in a couple of hours. Then applied the Topical Metronidazole at bedtime. No tingling on cheeks but, boy, the eyebrows, eyelashes, and eye lids felt like things were hopping! Washed face again with beauty bar and reapplied Topical Metronidazole with minor tingling (less than before so it was washed off).

Morning Day 3: Washed face with beauty bar. Applied Topical Metronidazole. Found Ted's recommendation of 50/50 borax and hydrogen peroxide. Washed face with this mixture - cupped hand with the borax and poured H2O2 on it and scrubbed face. Let stand for about 5-10 minutes. Wow! My face felt quite clean and refreshed. Small red dots are disappearing. Large pores are shrinking. Oil on pores appears more normal. Minimized blackheads (extracted some)

Evening Day 3: Washed face with Ted's 50/50 Borax & H2O2. Then followed by the moisturizing beauty bar restoring pH level. Applied Topical Metronidazole at bedtime, again, very active around the eyebrows, eyelids, and eyelashes. Do not put directly in the eye - just a light film all over the eye area -

Morning Day 4: Had a warm, soak bath with water and 1/2cup borax, 1/2cup H2O2. Bathed and soaked head too. Washed hair with Sensitve Skin Shampoo (containing sulphur - must be active ingredient). Rinsed. Skin is very soft and subtle.

Now the routine is this:

Morning - Wash with 50/50 Borax & H2O2 then follow with the beauty bar soap. Apply sunscreen & light coverup makeup, if required. Wear a hat on sunny days.

Evening - Wash with 50/50 Borax & H2O2 then follow with the beauty bar soap. Apply Topical Metronidazole at bedtime.

Weekly - Bathe in borax & H202 in tub.

Diet - I didn't change diet. It's a high fiber diet following the Canada's Food Guide. One cup of coffee, water, green tea and occassionally a carbonated mineral water. Occasional glass of red wine or one beer - no more than that at mealtime. Everyday multivitamin. Looking into Apple Cider Vinegar to improve digestion and pH balance.

Exercise - at minimum 30 minutes daily.

Laundry - wash loads with Borax and laundry soap with 1/2 cup of vinegar scented with lavendar oil as the fabric softener. Wash bed linens once or twice weekly. Change pillowcase daily. Change facecloth daily and body towel every other day.

I've found that Ted's Solution expediated the process with amazing results along side with what my doctor prescribed me.

Also, my home, & car environment:

1) I've always used Borax in my laundry routine, mostly for the whites & underwear load. Will definitely use it for all loads especially bed linens, towels, etc.

2) Washing the bathroom with borax with great results compared to filmy, cholrine-based products (nicer on your hands, for the sensitive skin type!)

3) Why stop at the bathroom, the kitchen looks and feels fantastic!

4) Trying dusting with a microcloth with diluted borax and water I use 15mL borax+1L water. Vacuum often (at least 1-3 times a week).

5) No residue on hardwood floors.

6) Borax and hot water in spray bottle - lightly spraying the mattresses, leather sofa, carpets, etc. Test small inconspicuous area first.

7) Borax is a great cleaning agent for the car interior.

8) Change the furnace air filter monthly. Use a mattress cover on every bed.

9) Get rid of clutter - collects too much dust, especially where you sleep - don't forget the kids rooms too. Put things in labelled boxes and get them out when you want to use them. Otherwise, give away. Speeds up the cleaning routine and is motivating!

10) Last, but most importantly, wash the telephone, computer, light switches, etc. where we share each other's space.

I feel like I have more energy. The general malaise is disappearing (even though I was trying to take care of myself and family with good food & exercise. Everyone else was benefiting except for me). Since I'm getting my sleep, I noticed a decrease in stress (or my ability to cope). Less stress is less havoc on my digestive system. General well-being is improving.

Keep up with this routine as the Human Demodex mite life cycle lasts quite awhile until you feel it's in check. The Human Demodex mite is passed on and is normal (just like dust mites) so please don't obsess, just be informed that this microns have a lifecycle and we just have to keep things in check. The website, ____ was helpful in viewing photos of the gradual process that some people may experience as well as the life cycle of the human demodex mite.

Cost:

Topical Metronidazole (Prescription 60mg for $36 CDN)
Beauty Bar - less than $2 each, package sizes vary
Borax $4-5 a box (grocery or pharmacy store)
Hydrogen Peroxide $1 at dollar store or pharmacy
Sensitive Skin Bubble Bath & Shampoo, $1 at dollar store

Wow - for around $50 and some cleaning muscle, this acne and rosacea causing mite called the human demodex can be controlled and minimized to minimize outbreaks. Thank you Ted for posting the 50/50 Borax/Hydrogen Peroxide Solution!

I wish it works well for you! Good Luck!

Apple Cider Vinegar and Salt

After what feels like eternal hell, I am down to the last few mites in a relatively short time (about 2 weeks). I hardly feel much movement now but I will keep this up for at least another 2-3 months. Here is the sum total of everything I do:

Drink 1/4 teaspoon borax in 1 litre water 5 days on, 2 days off.

Take a hot bath every night with 1/2 cup borax, quite a bit of salt and epsom salts (the salt kills them in the bath quickly). Hose down well before getting out of the bath.

In the morning I shower with shower gel mixed with freshly prepared mustard, and I mix some in with my shampoo.

I really feel its important to shower / bath twice a day. Obviously I cant see mites in the shower, but on the water surface of the bath its amazing how many critters you can see floating. The baths and showers really help get a truck load off in one go. I can't stress the importance of salt enough - best thing ever.

I have 2 spray bottles - one with a good amount of apple cider vinegar (approx 1/8 of the bottle) double the amount of water and about a tablespoon of salt). When I feel any crawling I zap them. Spray myself down fully at least once a day. I use the other bottle with same ingredients but instead of apple cider vinegar, I use cheap distilled vinegar. I use this to spray my bed, sheets and pillows when I get up, my robe, flip flops, bathmat, sofa, rugs, cats (who hate me now), towel, car, shoes once I've worn them. Once I started treating my environment like this I had real quick progress.

I also by chance found out that Oxy Powder tablets really help as well, but I think you would probably get results anyway if you cant find it. I have tried substituting with Colosan as it's a similar product but a lot cheaper, and it doesn't work.

The salt is incredible - it kills them so fast. The salt and treating my environments have been the biggest factors in finally triumphing in this long, long war. Now has anyone got any recommendations for scar removal??

I wanted to add on to your tannic acid post confirmation. I have demodex mites, so I don't know which kind you have. Mine came from a used bed that I did not put a mattress encasement over as well as the fact that I stopped being able to use a dryer unless I can find one that's dedicated and free from chemicals. At any rate, I bought the tannic acid and sprinkled it all over the mattress and waited. I like that you said that sometimes it can be a weak solution because I think that it's possible that it's not as effective this time as it was before for that reason. I will say that I also was able to change out all furniture, bedding, etc by the grace of God although... I had a very severe infestation at one point and found that when I used candidase, an enzymatic remedy to get rid of candida in the body, it went away within two days. I had felt them crawling on me for 5 years, and had at best kept them at Bay by adding a small amount of mustard powder to my soap. Mustard after 5 minutes will totally kill them. Blissed relief. I had used apple cider vinegar water before but it takes 15 minutes to get rid of them and I would notice they wouldn't all go away. Although, the mustard in the shampoo didn't seem to help much with my hair. so, if I were to recommend anything to anybody it would be mustard powder very small amount in the shampoo because it is very abrasive on the skin otherwise, sprinkling tannic acid on the bed because I could not use de, and Candidase coupled with a Candida diet. Interesting lie enough, I had a mold situation in my home twice after this and noticed that they increased. Someone of my group recommended that they actually eat the mold spores or toxins off of the body. I wonder if this is why the candidase helped. I don't know. All I know, is that I got a used sofa and it's crawling with them but I'm going to powder it with de or tannic acid and then vacuum. Likely the DEA as a tannic acid will stain. Then, I'll have to vacuum it up. actually my other plan is to use an iron as well. When I ironed my sheets oh, I also found relief since I did not have a dryer. The iron is hot enough to kill the mites from what I've read. Hair dryers are not at all hot enough. I hope this helps someone. I would add this under multiple remedies but I can't figure out how to add things anymore only reply.

Hi Elaine,

I became infested several years ago. The initial signs of Demodex mites appeared mainly on my limbs and torso. Then my hair started falling out by the handful. Went completely bald from front hairline to beginning of crown area. Lost all eyelashes and brows. Dermatologist gave me Soolantra samples (ineffective) My face was a mess of infected pimples. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that I tried every so called remedy out there. I am no longer bald, but my hair is still falling out. Apart from that, I have finally found a solution that has DRAMATICALLY reduced all signs and symptoms of mite infestation.Considering all that I've tried, what I currently do is fairly simple: Fill a spray bottle with 91% rubbing alcohol, buy a bag of cotton balls and Q-tips. When I feel that tiny bite or itch, I immediately spray the spot or area with alcohol - whether it's on my skin or on my scalp. (Alcohol kills the mite immediately - according to studies - & my experience). Saturate a cotton ball with alcohol and swab all red bites 1 or 2 times a day. I recently discovered Neem oil (unrefined organic cold-pressed) which has, among 100 other benefits for skin conditions, kills Demodex mites. I coat my face, affected body parts (limbs) - and also massage into my scalp. The results are miraculous for me. It smells unpleasant, but it dissipates by morning. But having the spray bottle at the ready is KEY. Killing the mite before it has a chance to get under the skin. Any new red spots need to be vigorously rubbed with a cotton ball soaked with alcohol. I hope this helps. Good luck and Best wishes.

I had mites for almost two years. At first I had no idea why I was itchy tickley. I found this website and it was clear what was wrong.

I tried the borax under water with a snorkel etc., the mustard scrub in my soaps and swabbing with alcohol and tea tree oil, all gave some relief but did not get rid of the mites.

In June of last year at the coersion of my family I stopped taking HRT (mainly for hourly hot flashes) and started a couple of other things. I started taking Boron pills once in the morning and once before bed. I also took a sauna at the gym for 20 minutes 4 times a week. After about a month the tickles were gone, not in my nose, eyes, eyebrows or scalp.

I occasionally get itches on my head but nowhere else. I am not sure which one of these things got rid of them because it happened all at once.

I hope this helps, don't give up hope.

Borax, Tea Tree Oil, H2O2, Vitamin E
Posted by Ben (Bremerton Wa ) on 04/09/2016

What you seem to be describing is not a mite infestation but another disease called morgellons.

Mites dont crawl under your skin quite like you describe, they dont take 5 years to kill off and doxycycline would not be given for mites anyway.

Now on the other hand the classic signature of morgellons is a feeling like mites are burrowing through your skin living in your body constantly itching you unrelenting misery.

These things that protrude from your skin in morgellons are not living creatures, they are nano materials that self assemble in your body.

Our atmosphere is full of contaminants like this. Hmmm what is that white stuff up in the sky?

If it is possible have a skin sample done checking for agrobacteria.

The process of transforming natural crops into genetically modified crops uses a specific type of bacteria farmers call agro bacteria. This bacteria has an ability to snip dna fragments from plant and animal species and link them together in ways nature never intended

This is a common occurance in those who develop morgellons to have wierd freakish things come out of their skin.

The "mites" that are moving around coming through the skin of morgellons patients are not living things.

The fibers we will call them are often different colors. Blue is a common color.

The fbi forensic laboratory has a database of over 100,000 fiber types and extremely sophisticated analytical equipment. When they were asked to identify the fibers from a morgellons patient they could not find a match for some of them

Others with morgellons have found some but not all of the fibers could be identified as cellulose a plant fiber growing from a human body. Scientists think this could only occur after agro bacteria splices plant genetic material into the human body

Kinda makes a statement about the "safety" of gmo foods huh?. Those who develop morgellons often try countless external medications trying to control an internal problem.

Those who use electro medical devices usually find the most relief in the quickest time.

You are not crazy, the world is crazy and doctors can not help you with this one. Turn to others who have been battling morgellons for advice. The most competent doctor would be a highly educated lyme literate alt.

Many of the protocols for dealing with lyme should be used for morgellons as well since most people who are suffering are multi infected with a wide variety of organisms requiring a wide range of treatments to deal with the peculiarities of each one.

Google morgellons/ pulsed magnetic energy.tHis seems to be what most people are getting best results with.

Another thing that helps immensely is eboo extra corporeal blood oxygenation and ozonation.. This technique is illegal in the usa. Look for it off shore or mexico

Your chances of recovery depend on study study and more study.

Wish I could be of more help, look up my posts on lyme disease.

See ya.

Mites remedy - Grass mites, harvest mites, cat mites

Cream for eyelids and sensitive skin:

  • 2 parts of Vaseline (petroleum jelly)
  • 1 part Neem oil
  • 1 part Cedarwood oil

Use mixture 2-3 times per day on clean skin, preferably cleaned with skin wipes containing benzalkonium chloride (eg Wet-Ones).
NO make up during treatment. Throw away old make-up after treatment only new make up.

Alternative for the body - Lotion:

  • 75 Baby oil (mineral NOT vegetable oils) because mites cannot digest mineral oils
  • 15 drops Cedarwood oil
  • 15 drops Neem oil

Over the counter medications:

Eurax cream. Use until all the itching is gone (it might take 3 or more weeks).

Prescription medication:

Rozex gel (Metronidazol) careful it is an antibiotic that will make the skin photosentive, need to see a doctor for it.

Tips & Tricks

General:
-HEAT and UV are your friends (hot wash cycles, ironing, steam cleaning, hot cars, UV lamps, sunlight)
- Daily shower better still swimming pools (chlorine water kills mites) or swimming in salt water
- Washing from head to toe (grass mites in particular move up the body)
- Hand wipes as mentioned containing benzalkonium chloride (NOT alcohol wipes, they are ineffective against mites and will dry out and irritate skin further). Benzalkonium chloride kills mites.
- Wash hair daily with a coconut oil shampoo, mites dislike the smell of coconut oils
- Use 3 different tea towels 1 for head, 1 for upper body, 1 for lower body, do not mix.
- Use lint roller on skin before bed time and shower.
- Cut nails really short, wash hands several times a day, brush nails.

Laundry

- Hot wash, use enzyme laundry powder (BioZet works best, enzyme dissolve the tiny mites and their eggs)
- Hot iron clothes or leave in a hot car

Home

- Steam clean upholstery
- Use disposable food gloves, change daily (and throw away).
- Vacuum every second day
- Change vacuum bag and put bicarb in the bag, it dries out eggs and mites
- Change bed sheets daily, wash on hot cycle
- Wrapping pillows in plastic bags and then putting a cotton cover works well. This way the mites cannot get into the pillow and filling.
- Wrapping mattress in plastic works well too
- Clean plastic covers with a solution of 1 part white vinegar & 1 part rubbing alcohol, this will kill mites

What was ineffective for me:

- Tea tree oil (burns and does not work)
- Clove oil (burns and does not work)
- Eucalyptus oil (burns and does not work)
- Lemongrass oil (burns and does not work)
- Peroxide (burned the skin)
- OTC medications containing Pyrethrum (most mites have become resistant to it in the tropics, burns on skin and can have very negative side effects)

Hello, I suffered a mite infestation in my scalp and they were spreading some in my neck area, an older doctor diagnosed them right (other dr thought I had an allergic reaction to a new shampoo) and he gave me a mix of coconul oil and sulphur to apply in the head and body. Left it in there for two hours, and then washed with soap. For the body he gave also a mix of zinc and copper sulfate in water, to apply with a cotton after I washed the coconut oil. I washed all my clothes in hot water since I just returned from a trip. This worked for me, they didn't come back, nor infested my home. Hope this helps someone.

Demodex mites. I have been dealing with these, at least I think that is what it is... for the past 5 months. It's hard. My partner doesn't quite believe me. I've been to 5 different doctors, all do not believe that I feel crawling sensation in my lashes and brows, and on my face, and scalp and behind my hair. We have a cat and dog, and I know what a flea infestation is like, and this is NOT that. The bugs are much more active at night, when the light goes off, the shuffling around starts, in my lashes and brows, and now on the cheeks, scalp. The hardest part is going to a Dr. and telling that that I think this is demodex mite overpopulation. Most have never heard of demodex mites. Others just don't believe me and think I have some kind of allergy, another suggested that sometimes alcoholics can have crawing-sensations... I had to tell her, I do not drink. More than once I have left these Dr. visits, gone to my car, and cried. So, it is reassuring to me to read everyone's input here, I feel that I am not alone. I had not seen anything on my face, using a magnifying mirror, until recently. I had tried using a sea salt and hydrogen peroxide rinse on my body, scalp and face (avoiding the actual eye area), left this on for several minutes, and then looked in the mirror at my face. I was able to see some black things, very tiny, coming to the surface on my cheeks, just under my eyes. They looked kind of like black lint. So, I feel like I am on the right track with using the hydrogen peroxide treatment. I also just bought some borax powder, and neem oil. I am also trying to keep my house much cleaner, but it's hard to wash bedding so often, but I'm trying. We did not have this problem ever when we lived in MN, but moved to CA about a year ago. We also live up near the mountains where there are lots of critters, squirrels, birds, deer, mice, etc... and the dog probably drags things in on her paws. I think that the reason I am getting bitten, more than my partner, is that I had cancer a few years ago and my immune system still is not quite up to par. So... Onward! Keep the faith and please give updates of some remedies that work to get rid of these things. And Thank you all, and God bless you.
