Flossing

Hello, I am a Dentist from Venezuela and a Registered Dental Hygienist in Florida. Along more than 18 years of dental practice and experience dedicated mostly to the Dental Hygiene area I have become to learn that there are several causes for bad breath or "Alitosis" like dry mouth, stomach problems, cavities, etc but the MAIN cause of this condition is "LACK OF DAILY FLOSSING". Most of the people who suffer from this condition just DON'T floss. When you don't floss ALL contacts between ALL your teeth, plaque builds up under your gums and between your teeth, in less than 8 hours this plaque becomes BACTERIA and of course, with time if not removed properly, it turns into hard deposits of tartar. This is a chronic process. Lack of flossing can also led other type of health problems that can affect vital organs like the heart, kidneys, lungs, uterus, ovaries, etc.

That's not true for the people on sites like these. If ur paying attention- these people have tried everything NORMAL and its not helping. I heard on another website that bismuth ( like pepto bismol) sometimes helps because it kills bacteria in the gut.

After about 10 years of chronic halitosis I have finally been cured. I am a healthy 36 year old female but had halitosis no matter what I did. I wanted to get to the root of my problem so I tried oral hygiene. I brushed, cleaned with baking soda, vinegar, various mouth washes. Nothing worked. I then was seen by a ear, nose, throat doctor. I was told I had post nasal drip that could be the cause. After I used a neti pot to clear my nose for weeks with saline, I still continued to have bad breath. I next tried eating different foods, I tried about 10 different diets from gluten free to vegetarian. Nothing worked.
I finally went to a GI doctor. After some testing I was diagnosed with H Pylori, a bacteria in my intestinal lining. It is very common. About half of the world has it!! I have been on a triple antibiotic treatment for it for 3 days now and my halitosis disappeared after the first day! It's a miracle. This could be the source of halitosis for most people and they aren't even aware of it. Yogurt, probiotics, mint, etc, are just temporary cover ups for a long term problem that needs serious treatment.

Hello,
Have you tried drinking the tea GYMNEMA SYLVESTRE? This is very helpful for diabetes, and also for yeast. It is helping me. I have yeast issues and breath issues. Gymnema sylvestre helps with cravings, blood sugar, and apparently helps people get of off diabetes medication. I have lost a touch of weight as those insane yeasty cravings are basically gone, and when I eat I feel satisfied. It hasn't helped the bb, but overall, it has helped me with the blood sugar issue, the cravings for carbs, sweets, etc. It apparently kills the fungal form of yeast.

My son had the worst breath I've ever smelled. I took him to the dentist, no problems with his gums or teeth. I kept on making him rinse his mouth with mouthwash and chew gum. It was so bad when you opened his bedroom door it would make you gag. I couldn't figure out why. Low and behold one day I was figuring out my budget and how I could cut back. So while I was grocery shopping I decided not to buy my son's regular 2 blocks of cheese per week. It was something he would have to do without. After a couple weeks of not eating cheese, we noticed his breath was refreshing. I was so happy, I realized right away it was the cheese since it was the only change from his regular routine. To this day, he eats cheese once in a while but does not suffer from bad breath. Hope this will help some other people with this terrible problem.

I cannot thank you enough for the information you have given about Acidophilus, as I have suffered humiliation for many years about my bad breath. I notice a difference after just 3 days. I would ask you to ask your friend if he knows, is there a point where we reach a healthy balance of good and bad bacteria or do we just continue taking the acidophilus?

I have always used natural remedies to cure my ills or take care of my skin, and when a cousin of mine became ill with liver cancer I started searching the internet frantically (that's how I came across this site) for a way to help him get rid of the toxins in his body, but it was too far gone. He died one month after being diagnosed with the cancer. A few months ago I started dating a gentleman, who is a great guy but he had bad breath, he brushed and gargled Listerine which didn't help, but masked the bad breath for a few minutes. Since it was his breath, and not his personality that was bad, I bought a bottle of hydrogen peroxide for him to brush his teeth and tongue with and also gargle. The next time we went out the bad breath was gone and he said he can tell the difference. I don't know what he had or what happened scientifically but the hydrogen peroxide worked.

Hydrogen Peroxide + Salt in Neti Pot

My
BAD breath was not from the mouth but from the
Nasal area. I suffered from very bad breath and the typical mouth-teeth treatment did not work.
I used a Neti Pot with Salt Water and a "small dash" of Hydrogen Peroxide to get rid of a sinus infection. A few weeks later my wife noticed my breath was OK. Thank God...
Important: use canning/pickling salt (no additives & cheap)

I had pain in my knees and fingers. I started using this mix and its only been one week and my knees don't ache going up the stairs. I will continue for a while longer. My daughter had a foul breath and the second day after taking the mix she has no bad breath.

MC,,,,,,,,,, have you considered that your bad breathe may be coming from your stomach. If you think that is a possibility then you may want to try ozonated water. You may want to consider that you have H pylori . If that is the case then ozonated water will help address your problem.

Something worked for me and I hope it will help those who suffer as well. All my life I looked into mouth thinking, it was teeth, I brushed till my teeth got erosions. I had no post nasal drip so I thought that is not the case for me. But when I swallowed, I always smelled that decay somewhere but still that no, I have dry nose and no I have no drip. But few days ago, I irrigated my nose using mix of water/h202 and brushed way back my tonsils! Keeping the electronic brush to the sides so I wont gag. BOY, MIRACLE. I DID THIS BEFORE BED AND NEXT MORNING. NOW FOUL TASTE OR BAD BREATH. NOT EVEN MORNING BREATH. SO IT WAS FROM NOSTRILS AND TONSILS. I HOPE YOU WILL GIVE IT A TRY!

Hi sorry for my late answer. I use acidophilus and bifidus 8 billion from now foods, but the first three months I used acidophilus 4 billion plus from health aid. I liked more from health aid maybe I stick to that. My tongue is pinker now and I clean it everyday with Ora brush. I have a tonsil that has a crypt, when I eat junk food or cheese the next day has a little tonsil stone. I check it everyday, twice day when I brush and clean it with a q-tip. I believe the very bad breath was from that. I am calm now with this problem! Don't panic, you'll find the answer to your problem, the best thing you can do, TALK to your parents, siblings, boyfriend, girlfriend, the person you are close to. I hope I helped!

Thank you so much for your honest heartfelt comment. I am in your that same position with people rubbing their noses but no one cared about me enough to tell me honestly that my breath was bad. It would have spared me years of people talking about me. I will purchase this tomorrow.
Thank you and I am happy life is better for you.

John, seems you have looked everywhere except in your gut. Please try going low carb to withhold the sugar that will decimate the species of yeast in your gut that is fermenting food into the bad smells that you emanate. There are some 66 species of yeast that can take residence in the gut but not all of them all of the time, they do vary. But seems you have a dastardly one in permanent residence. Go low carb for a month and then kiss your wife, passionately, and let her be the judge.

I, too, had the same smells. I sprayed hydrogen peroxide in my nose, throat and ears, whenever I thought about it and the horrific smell is gone. Probably took less than 2 months. Good Luck!
I forgot one important thing I used and I think this may have done the most good. I spray Colloidal silver in my nose over the course of less than 2 months. Probably did this 5 times in total. Just a small squirt. Remember, moderation! Good Luck!

It is hard to fully express how grateful I am for the information on this site. The input has saved me from an expensive, grueling dental appointment and likely gum scraping followup, which no one wants to undergo!
After noticing a distinct odor coming from between two rear molars every time I flossed or used a tiny brush to clean the area, I was distraught and called my dentist. They said to come in for an x-ray and exam (spend more money for nothing) and then I would probably have to go see a gum specialist. So I started researching and found that hydrogen peroxide can be very helpful for gum issues, so I bought some and added it to the baking soda concoction I use as mouthwash.
After only two applications, the odor is completely gone! Previously, I would scrub and clean and even put some toothpaste in the space, but the odor would return in less than an hour. Today, I ran the ultimate test and checked it with the tiny brush before even rinsing or cleaning my teeth, right after getting out of bed! No odor!
This is amazing and I am thrilled, so thank you everyone for your wonderful information about this life-changing, CHEAP solution to what is a common problem and can really cramp a person's style.
What I do is fill my water irrigating device with about one part H2O2 3% plus one part water and two tablespoons baking soda, then run it with special attention to that back area and keep the liquid in my mouth for as long as I can (2-3 minutes). Easy peasy, life is good!

Hi Elizabeth: According to the book,
Digestive Wellness (Lipski), if you have halitosis, you may want to do the following:
- be checked for infections (H pylori, GERD, gastric ulcers)
- eliminate constipation (which you mention you have) by increasing your fiber intake, make sure you are properly hydrated, exercise, take magnesium (most of us are deficient), take digestive enzymes, evaluate any medications you are taking which may cause constipation, take vitamin C
- take a good probiotic
- have your HCl levels checked (your food may be fermenting instead of digesting properly) by having your doctor run a comprehensive digestive stool analysis with parasitology evaluation
Perhaps a naturopath instead of a regular doctor might be what you need. In the meantime, the book I mentioned is really interesting and addresses all sorts of digestion problems. You even may be able to find it in your library. They do say that good health begins in the stomach. I hope you find the answers you are seeking. Good luck! Bess

For the plantar's wart, there are two different methods you can try (look them up on YouTube, it's easy):
1) apply a strip of duct tape to cover the wart (Mercola wrote about this recently), and leave it on. Change it every day or two.
or
2) make a little paste of baking soda and castor oil; rub it into the wart and then cover the wart with a Bandaid. Change 2x/day.
I did a combo of both methods and my wart was gone in less than 2 weeks!

I had my bad breath off and on for almost 24 years now and I tried all kinds of remedies but it comes back every now and then. I surf thru the internet last week and found liquid chlorophyll as one of the remedies of any body odor. So I tried it last night taking 1 tbsp after brushing my teeth and when I woke up ask my son to smell my breath and he was amazed that it doesn't have any smell at all. I hope this is it and I thank God for giving me this product which may be the final solution to my problem. I hope this will help you. Also I started taking primadophilus once a day but I think the one that really help me is the liquid chlorophyll. You just have to be careful because it stains in your clothes. It has a green color.

Words cannot express how deeply I am affected by this problem, I can relate to everyone here. Unless you have a truly dedicated Dr. to help you find solutions going to them are a waste of time and money. Bad breath clearly has origins besides poor oral hygiene because I had everything that needed repair fixed, I brush, floss and scrape at least ten times a day. I had whitening treatments, used smartmouth which felt refreshing but, actually left my breath smelling of moth balls. Because of this problem I have no life, the life I had before was hindered and crippled because of this. I hope no one finds humor in exploiting those of us who suffer I want responses from people who honestly want to help.

I had bad breath to the extent that it was already affecting my social life. After stumbling into your website, I read the Hydrogen Peroxide may work. I tried it with equal parts of 3% concentratiion and water and gargled for about two minutes. The bad breath disappeared immediately. I have intentionally not used it for ten days now and still I don't have bad breath even first thing in the morning. Thanks so much....

Hi, I have been trying for the last couple weeks different remedies for my halitosis and coated tongue. I first tried the salt. I used table salt. It helped a little bit but only temporarily. I stopped using regular toothpaste and switched to using a combination of Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide and an organic Mouthwash called Biotene. I still have halitosis and a coated tongue. I got my blood sugar tested and it was 120. I started taking baking soda with water a week ago, no change or difference. All of this has done nothing but make my teeth hurt and more sensitive. I don't know what to do anymore, this is really affecting my life. I have also been using a spoon as a tongue scraper, but it remains white even after. Before this whole process my tongue was coated white and now it is turning brownish and even bleeding. The brownish residue may be caused by the bleeding. I am not sure. I just want a solution, please help.

I used this site to help stop bad breath. I brush with baking soda first, then rinse with acv, then rinse again with baking soda and its been helping the breath a lot. My girlfriend is not gonna lie to me. Im also drinking acv twice a day with a sprinkle of cinnamon and that helps a lot with taste. I put 2 tablespoons in about 8 ounces of water and sprinkle the cinnamon and then chug that bad boy down. It felt great. Ive had previous cases of acid reflux because i drink so much soda. Im gonna buy ph strips next to keep track of my ph levels.
