That is wonderful to hear that your bald spot have hair growing like crazy! My dad suffers from bald spots as well, what should I tell him to do? Apply the coconut oil and leave it on for hours or use it like a shampoo?
Also I want to start using it on my skin. Using it both on my face as a cleanser and a moisturizer is good? I have decent skin so I am afraid to clog the pores and create acne. I have some blackheads I would like to get rid of and have heard coconut oil does work for this as well.
Sounds like coconut oil has tons of benefits, I am anxious to try!
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and respond.

Since my mother has a problem with high blood pressure I was curious to see if it had any effect on blood pressure. I would like to share the positive effects I had taking it. I am 68 years old after taking it for 4 days I noticed my skin was better and many wrinkles lessoned. Nice side effect! I am plagued with Psoriasis it did not cure it but it did take away the scaly part and diminish the appearance of it.
However it did remove the black lines under my nails from the Psoriasis and the fungus under my toe nails is all most gone. I have a huge build up of the scales under my toe nails and on the bottom of my feet that were all most gone. In the two weeks I didn't take the oil the scales started to reappear but are now once again lessoning. I had aging spots on my face and hands that are all most gone. My hair shines and has thickened.
I have arthritis and am "all most" pain free. My headaches have all most disappeared and my energy is wonderful. I did notice the two weeks I was not using the oil all these things started to return but I am all most back to where I was. I have been exposed to the flu several times and so far haven't been sick which is a minor miracle since my immune system is bad. A blessed effect is I am losing weight which is wonderful and I am able to exercise and walk because of my pain being all most gone. Oh one other benefit I am sleeping better. Well no cures which is what you were hoping for but definite benefits.

So, the gist of this was that I started to take 3 tablespoons of coconut oil everyday. The results were astonishing. Not only did the jock itch disappear,my eczma disappeared, my bowel movements became more regular, I had less indigestion and I sleep more soundly now. I was so impressed, I now cook everything in virgin coconut oil - I think it is far more healthy than any processed vegetable oil on the market. I've since also learned that coconut oil has been used in baby food for the last 30 years and people in hospital with intestinal trauma have their food cooked in coconut oil as a matter of course. The only other natural remedy I take is Ted's Alkalizing Remedy (Lemon bicarb water) which is available elsewhere on this site.

In response to Sharmila from Vacoas, Mauritius. It is true that Coconut oil is a saturated fat but like most anything there are good and bad saturated fats. A forty-year old study showed that HYDROGENATED Coconut oil did raise blood cholesterol and caused heart disease. This is simply because the process of hydrogenation creates "trans fatty acids", which are toxic substances that enter cell membranes, block the use of essential fatty acids and hinders cell function. Trans fatty acids also raise blood cholesterol.
However these substances are NOT present in natural coconut oil. On the contrary, natural coconut oil may be very beneficial in preventing heart disease rather than causing it. In addition, Coconut oil is very easy to digest and quick to convert energy which means that these types of fatty acids are less likely to cause obesity because they are immediately used by the body and have no opportunity to be stored. So is Coconut oil really bad for you? NOT AT ALL.
I am so, so thankful for being informed about coconut oil. I am 63 YO, and am on a restricted diet to reverse diabetes and eating coconut oil has changed my lief and I am told I look 5 years younger, my skin is smooth and NO wrinkles, and it glows, my hands are soft and smooth, not wrinkled, and I walk with zest, and spunk, and enjoy everyday with energy and now I am not afraid that I will have memory problem or Alzheimer's as I get older. Thank GOD, Merryanne in Central FL

I decided to start off slow, according to testimonies I read, especially since one of my issues is chronic candida. I also take levothyroxine for hypothyroidism and battle with weight issues, which have caused a whole host of health concerns.
I noticed right away an uncomfortable side effect of racing, palpitating heart. It happens every time I take the oil in a concentration, such as by the tablespoon, or spread on an akmak cracker, etc.
I have decided instead to use it in cooking and get my daily dose that way. I use it to saute veggies for a meal, or add it to my morning oatmeal, and even gently fried corn tortillas in it for chicken enchiladas one night.. it is such a delicate flavor that once stronger, more savory flavors are introduced, you can rarely detect the coconut. I find when I use it this way, I don't get the palpitation side effect. Other than the recommended amount of coconut oil, and the fish oil caps I take, I am on a very low fat diet right now.
I have mixed feelings because I have read some testimonies of people who didn't lose weight but in fact gained weight after starting on VCO so I hope I am not sabotaging my good efforts!
oh, also, I read that the claims made by proponents of VCO that it helps with thyroid problems are unsubstantiated.. any editorial feedback on this?
