First, let me tell you that this site has become one of my favourites and has helped me get back in touch with my affinity for folk remedies. Thank you for that!

Yesterday evening, I tried the Turmeric Tea recipe that Anna from Union County, NJ, shared. It tasted so much better than I thought it would, it's actually delicious! I like drinking warm milk before bedtime :D
More importantly, only one large cup of this tea already reduced a boil in my armpit to half its size overnight. It also doesn't hurt any longer. I stopped using commercial deodorants about a year ago, because I kept getting awful boils under my armpits and suspected the aluminium in deodorant to cause these. Used green clay compresses, but they only work temporarily and the boils kept returning. I also get boils on my breasts - horribly painful and embarrassing.

I'm absolutely amazed at how quickly the Turmeric had an effect! Thank you, Anna, and thank you, EC!

EC: Anna's Recipe:

09/06/2007: Anna from Union County, NJ writes: "Turmeric truly is the cure for boils. I have been struggling with boils for over 10 years! I have been to countless doctors and dermatologists for this embarrassing and painful ailment to no avail. I stumbled upon this website and tried it. When I saw a huge difference in 48 hours, I cried. Thank You.

Here is a turmeric tea recipe that is truly delicious, from Yogi Bhajan, founder of the Yogi Tea brand INGREDIENTS:

 * 1 tsp turmeric powder
 * 4 cups water
 * 1 cup milk (soy or dairy)
 * 2 tbsp almond oil
 * liquid sweetener, to taste, optional (honey, agave, maple syrup)

 PREPARATION:
Bring water to a boil and add turmeric. Allow to simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring to make sure the turmeric is fully dissolved. Reduce heat, add milk and oil and stir well. Add sweetener if desired and enjoy!

This just shows how we should look to Mother Earth a little more often instead running to a physician.

Also, instead of using Neosporin on those nasty things, a little manuka honey and vitamin E salve goes a long way."

Turmeric cure for Hidradenitis suppurative: I have been taking 3 tsps of Turmeric in water 3 times a day for 29 days now. I have had Hydradenitis Suppurativa for many years. I had 2 cysts on my bottom for many months that would always be there but would flair up often. a month ago 1 of them was the size of a baseball and the other a golf ball. In much pain for a long time, i found this site. Thank God! Anyway, I have been drinking Turmeric for a month now and they are almost gone completely (except the scarring and bruising). 1 is completly flat and I can feel No bump and the other is the size of a pea now. I was wondering How Long Should I take this...Can I take it forever? Should I? Is it ok for me? Thanx in advance 4 advice.

You can actually apply the turmeric directly to the open sores and they will heal faster. It may burn at first, but it is dramatic how quickly they heal up when it is applied topically! I usually wet my finger, wet the boil with my finger, rewet my finger, and dip it in turmeric, and press firmly into the sore to make it stick, and then try to leave it alone.

I came across this website while i was doing research for alternate remedies for my HS.. I had been in alot of pain and really didnt like being on antibotics (b.c they DONT work) Anyways.. I went to my local pharmacy which carries homopathic remedies and picked up turmeric. It is AMAZING the difference. My HS isnt completly gone but it might as well be for the difference it made. i do not get large painful cysts anymore, mostly just small acne like ones with minimal pain. If i do get a larger cyst they do not tract anymore and come to a head sooner so I can lance it with immediate releif. I have also been using a tea tree oil topically... THANK YOU for your site and your remedies.. I have been virtually pain free for a month, longer then i have ever been in almost 20 years

Since I was a teen, I've fought with boils. Then I was diagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa about a year ago. My doctor simply gave me the diagnosis and left the room, giving me no information whatsoever. I resolved that I would find a way to at least ease living with this disease. I started looking around and that is when I came upon your site. I tried the turmeric cure and it works! I also had a bit of trouble with sores remaining after a boil would drain. I mixed a little turmeric with honey and applied it as a salve. It heals up in no time! Thanks to all of you, this site changed my life!

14 years of suffering over: I suffered from a very bad case of Hidradentits Supprativa, under both armpits and all over my buttocks. I have been in for surgery. It came back and i thought i was giong to have this with me the rest of me life. I would get flare up 2-3 andsometimes 4 times a year. Very very painful. When i get flare ups ther would grow sometimes the size of a orange. Nothing seemed to help. Until I fond this site. I am proof that Turmeric (1 teaspoon )in a glass of warm water is nasty. Not as nasty as having a zit the size of Texas under your underarm. In closing I want to Thank-You for providing this information.

I was given an antibiotic yesterday for a issue that I had under my arm pit. I went to the Dr twice but each time I got to finally see the Dr, they were drying up. well then after flare ups only in my right arm pit, I had a break out under my left breast. two weeks later on my way home from work, I noticed some itching in my groin are and lower tummy area. I got home and had a small rash. Next morning I had the blisters in my panty line and on my tummy, and JUST so happened to have a Dr appt. he finally got to see them. I guess he put 2 and 2 together and put me on a antibiotic. My daughter told me after talking about it that she googled my symptoms and came up with the H.S.

At 4:30 am I start looking it up and found this site. We cook a lot with turmeric but am going to start drinking it. Thank you so much for all your posts!!!

I have had HS for 11 years. Mine started when I was 36 and had to have a hysterectomy. Not sure if it has anything to do with it or just a coincidence. I didn't know what was wrong with me for years I just thought it was boils in the crease of my leg (groin area) and thought they did not heal for a while because the elastic of my panties were rubbing it. I didnt know there was a name for it until I heard a commercial on pandora about three weeks ago and I made a appointment with a dermatologist. When she put me on antibiotics and said I would have to take them for the rest of my life I didn't know what to think except this can't be right who takes antibiotics for the rest of their lives. I also have Gerd and a inflamed stomach. I had started looking at the long term side effects of the Nexium and the antibiotic and said nope it's not worth all of this in the long run so I started looking for natural ways to cure my Gerd and came across a story that said gerd and HS might be connected and then I came across this site and I went straight to the store and bought some turmeric. I fixed 1/2 tsp in a glass of water and I also made a paste with it too. Crossing my fingers and praying to the Lord above that this actually works. I will let everyone knows if it does.

Hidradenitis suppurativa: I have had boils my entire life, starting from two days after birth when I had surgery to remove a cyst. I got maybe one every couple of months until I hit puberty, then it was monthly.

As I've aged, it has become worse (I'm 45 now). I am so tired of fighting these things, especially after my last one. I had one in my armpit which has been there for years and comes and goes, depending on its mood; I have a lot of those types and the scars to prove it.

This time around, it swelled up to the size of an orange (not uncommon for me), but would not drain. I tried everything and after 2 weeks I finally went to the doctor. They gave me antibiotics without any improvement, so I went back to have it lanced open. It stunk so bad that one of the nurses ran out of the room, gagging, which was so embarrassing. They tested the puss and it came back positive for MRSA, so more antibiotics. It has been over a month since then and it's still there, just harder and smaller. I know it will come back because I am already starting to flare up in my other armpit and under my breast.

I stumbled across the turmeric posts on this site and immediately downed some turmeric. I am hoping with everything that it helps. I am so scarred up EVERYWHERE and tired of having no life because of them. Salud!

Careful with the Apple Cider Vinegar, or you'll be at the dentist with new problems, it's good for you in your stomach, but I don't know how to get it safely past your teeth.

I have had HS since I was 10 it started on my lower back and has grown to my armpits, breasts and very rarely the groin. I am now 25 and I have been using Turmeric capsules for about 2 weeks now and the results have been amazing!!! My doctor recommended I stay on them as they are the most natural ones out there! It's not a 100% cure but not it is about 95% more bearable and looks about 95% better as well. My mother has about as severe of case as you can get and while the effects of Turmeric on her have been minimal she too is staying on them as little relief is better than no relief.

Just as a positive indication for tumeric.. I thought just to test.. I'd drop the tumeric from my daily routine. So I just took the ginger and cayenne.. Within a week I was feeling slight twinges nothing to bad... As soon as I started the tumeric they went. Adding that the MSN has done away with all back discomfort. This definiatly works.

TURMERIC REALLY WORKS!!!

I drink it dissolved in warm water once a day when I have an outbreak - and the boil literally shrinks within hours - it's amazing. 1/2 tsp in 1/4 cup of warm water, but you can play with the dose.

I also no longer sit in a chair at work - I sit on an exercise ball which constricts my groin area less - which has made a HUGE difference - my exercise ball deflated and I sat in a chair for a month and they came back - I bought a new ball, they were gone in a week.

PhisoHex also works if you use it consistently but you shouldn;t use it longterm.

I notice when I eat a lot of sugar, it makes it worse. Good luck.

Courtney from San Francisco, what I do is take 1tbls of turmeric with 1/4 cup of warm water. Taking turmeric for the first time - seemed like torture. I quit turmeric and swore I would never go back. After living with my pain and hiding my HS from everyone I went back on EC and read all the great results people were having with turmeric. So I tried again and this time I put the 1tbls of turmeric in yogurt and just swallowed it. When you put turmeric in yogurt it goes down without tasting anything - I do have my nose plugged just in case =P

Sara from The Beach, Canada had a great idea with using the straw, you could try that as well.

Be rigorous with the turmeric regime and your sister will see results fast. Use it twice a day and you can play around with how you want to take it, EC has lost of recipes that people use and have great results with.

Just know that there are also empty capsules you can buy at your local health food store that you can fill with turmeric - but there don't absorb nearly as much as drinking the turmeric straight up. The regular capsules that people having been talking about filling on this site don't realize that those capsules don't have a enteric coating - meaning the turmeric won't even reach the digestive system where you get healing effect.

That's so sweet that your looking out for your sister, and you relationship where she can tell you anything. HS is something that popped out of now where for me, and after having it for only a few months, I'm so glad that EC has helped me stop it thus far.

I've gotta agree. I can't believe after all this time I finally know what the cause is. After reading this and going through pages of comments as well as staying up till 6am LOL I went straight out to the nearest 24/7 CVS and picked up a few things. Turmeric was hard to find and I ended up finding Turmeric Powder at my local Kroger.

I hope that along with the change in lifestyle I'm already implementing will at least ease the symptoms.

I can report that before I fell asleep I took my first "dose" of Turmeric and I woke up about 40 minutes ago. There's nearly no pain where there was terrible pain last night. Coincidence? Maybe... but I like to believe that the turmeric is having some positive effect.

I was on anti-biotics for a period of almost 3 months, but HS was not getting healed. I rather started having terrible side effects of anti-biotics.. As I was away from home, I couldnt even see a doctor.. I am really grateful to this website to help me out of pain. I tried out turmeric theory (i have turmeric with milk twice a day and also apply turmeric paste on the affected part at night before sleeping)
HS has been under control, though not cured yet, but the pain has reduced a lot and size has decreased considerably.. Thanks a lot..

Hi I just have to say I love earth clinic, this site is a tremendous blessing. I did suffer from this condition and was so desperate for a cure I prayed to god for help and he healed me. Here is how

1. Most importantly have faith- God will heal you -but you have to meet him half way and be disciplined in your maintenance routine
2. All skin conditions are part of a emotional dis-ease. Know that your mind-state plays a big part in your skins health. Have faith that god will heal you and love your body. Envision clear healthy skin.

3.Turmeric it is a powerful antioxidant good for everyone - essential in for HS cure. I take 3 a day. As well as detoxing herbs and a plant enzyme
4. Air- to cool the skin so no bacteria can breed
5. Use an acne wash and cream -very carefully- on the prone areas
6. Antibacterial soap like dial the bar type

God has blessed me-i am so happy that I have been cured- that is why I had to share this today because it is a miracle. Thanks to everyone sharing there stories and we can get better! Good luck and god bless

I have had HS for 23 years although in the beginning years I thought it was boils on inner thighs until diagnosed years later. I tried the gold dial soap which did nothing. I need stock in large bandaids with neosporin with pain relief as I am keeping them in business! It does give some relief on severe painful days (which are many). I next did the turmeric pills. I thought if anything takes some of this pain away it is worth it. Well after using for about 2 weeks, the pain has subsided. No I am not cured but it is now bearable and looks much better. I waited a month to post this to be sure it wasn't wishful thinking on my part. I will continue using this as the pain as I said is almost gone and is very bearable now and I have not needed a bandaid with neo on it..

I suffer with HS for 20 years. My disese is on stage III, with fistulas. Someone with fistulas take turmeric. What are the results? I am taking for 20 days, pills 450mg dayly, and few no iprovement yet.

EC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fistula

In medicine, a fistula (pl. fistulas or fistulae) is an abnormal connection or passageway between two epithelium-lined organs or vessels that normally do not connect. It is generally a disease condition, but a fistula may be surgically created for therapeutic reasons.

The 3 Stages of Hidradenitis Suppurativa:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradenitis_suppurativa

HS presents itself in three stages.[2][9]

Stage Characteristics
I    Solitary or multiple isolated abscess formation without scarring or sinus tracts. (A few minor sites with rare inflammation; may be mistaken for acne.)

II    Recurrent abscesses, single or multiple widely separated lesions, with sinus tract formation. (Frequent inflammations restrict movement and may require minor surgery such as incision and drainage.)

III    Diffuse or broad involvement across a regional area with multiple interconnected sinus tracts and abscesses. (Inflammation of sites to the size of golf balls, or sometimes baseballs; scarring develops, including subcutaneous tracts of infection - see fistula. Obviously, patients at this stage may be unable to function.)

I have not been diagnosed with HS but from pictures it sure looks like it. It started around my waist when I gained weight about 4 years ago (sweat). I get a lot of boils but if you use tumeric powder they will drain rapidly. My recipe is to use the regular tumeric powder one gets from an India type grocery--very cheap. Then depending on the size of the boil I mix a teaspon of tumeric with a tumeric based cream I found and make a paste. Put some of this on a bandaid and then put over the boil. It will drain the boil within a very short period of time. Instead of the turmeric cream I have also used neosporin with just as good results. The turmeric cream is also cheap---so for about 12 dollars you can eliminate these boils. I would be very surprised if it doesn't work for you.You can then redress the boil to drain it further and when totally drained you are done with the turmeric.

I also recently started taking turmeric internally by mixing a couple of teaspoons with about 6-8 ounces of tomato juice, some pepper and sometimes cayenne and lemon. Much more palitable that way. I am not sure yet if it is decreasing the boil outbreaks but the topical therapy once a boil starts really does the trick.

I have been taking Turmeric powder for about a week now to treat my H.S. It has been fabulous!!! It's also clearing my acne as well. The taste may take a little getting used to but it's all worth it. I take 1 tsp three times a day with 1/4 cup of warm water.

H.S. Wow, I came on here looking for answers because the Dr's sure don't have any. I used the turmeric and it really worked, it worked so well that I didn't have ANY bumps and I forgot to take the turmeric for a couple of days...... I paid for that, I got 6 bumps. I'm back on the Turmeric and they went away, so I know for sure it works, now I'm just waiting on something to cure it for good.
