Hi I am looking after a man with Parkinsons and he has had problems with night sweats and also hot flashes during the day. A few years ago a lady told me Blackstrap Molasses helped with hot flashes so he tried it. He was amazed as it really worked and he and his wife are getting better sleeps. I have heard that it helps with alot of other illnesses also.

Purchased some blackstrap molasses 5 days ago for the first time and I cant believe after only taking 2 teaspoons for 3 days, I am no longer having hot flashes. I am shocked and will continue to take this for my usual low blood count. I feel so enegetic. I shared information with co-worker and picked her up a bottle too. Lets keep sharing this information so others will know the benefits of BSM. Joyce

My concern about molasses is exactly their high content of iron. There are many health issues associated with iron building up in men and menopause women, damaging their organs. That is because for most people, iron overload has no symptoms. Some people with iron overload may experience symptoms. They may feel tired, have a low sex drive, see changes in skin color, and have pain in their joints. People may think these symptoms are caused by another disease, aging, or lack of sleep.

The only way to know if you have iron overload is to get tested for it. An iron level that continues to be over 1000 mcg/L (micrograms per liter) means you have iron overload. A simple blood test called a serum ferritin test can tell you your iron level. Too often, people with iron overload don't know they have it until they have serious health problems, such as heart failure, diabetes, or liver disease. Learn more about the impact of iron overload.

I also do not trust the soy product. No nation in far east use this tipe of soy product - they use fermented soy (like natto). Soy milk is devastating to be a part of the babies formulas.

Hi Kaio, After learning how much some sugarcane is aerial sprayed nowadays with pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers my concern is the use of non organic molasses for those with Fibromyalgia or Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. Your idea of having a simple blood test is excellent. There have been some Drs who even prescribe iron tablets without doing this test.

A few years ago I had a chat with an hematologist regarding the use of Vit C to help with the absorption of iron. Not only to help get enough for those anemic in iron but also for those with levels that are to high and the use of Vit C to help in not absorbing too much. He agreed that Vit C can do both of these, BUT it would be worth getting it checked more often if it is in the high bracket. I have seen firsthand the results of someone who is a hematomacrosis carrier, whose iron levels were at the borderline of needing to be bleed, who had a large serving of Lambs-fry (liver) for their evening meal and also ate some the following morning for breakfast. They took Vit C with each meal and had their blood tested that afternoon. The results were iron in the normal range albeit on the higher end. Also a friend had low iron levels in her pregnancy but would not take iron tablets, she got her test results into the normal range (lower end) by having Vit C or orange juice with her meals.

I am trying to take BSM but finding it very heavy to consume all at once. This evening I took 1 TBS of it, and blended it with some almond milk and a banana. It helped to make a smoothie out of it but it still felt like "too much". Will I get the same benfits if I take less... perhaps a teaspoon instead of a tablespoon? diane

I'd like to clarify some things about molasses. It is indeed one of the healthiest foods on the planet.

Think about it, they harvest a field of sugar cane, remove as much water, fiber, and sugar as possible. What's left? Concentrated organic minerals! If you found such a supplement at the health store it would be very expensive. Yet here it is, dirt cheap and delicious.

Organic minerals have been taken up from the soil by the plants and changed into a form that is easily absorbed and utilized by all living things. The mineral supplements you might find at a drugstore, you may notice, are very heavy. That's because they are made from ground up rock. The minerals are in inorganic form and hard for the body to absorb. Most of it winds up in the toilet.

The iron in drugstore vitamins and processed food is often, literally, iron filings. Nasty and toxic. The organic iron in molasses, on the other hand, will do you no harm. Very good for you.

Arn: Well said. If I might add, I read an article where studies were being done on known toxic lead laden soil. To prove the power of plant metabolism in even toxic metal contaminated soil, tomato plants were grown to maturity and fruited nice tomatoes which tested at almost undetectable levels of lead.

This finding may very well further verify the theory of the energy vibration of plant blood (chlorophyll), what Leonard Harowitz termed Love 528. Not only chlorophyll vibrating at 528 hz, but also the source of life on Earth, the Sun, as well as the very heart of creator God. Again, it appears that the energy vibration of Love 528 may very well catalyze (directly or indirectly) all the miraculous healing powers found in our plant kingdom.

Hi Rick.

I use BSM but it hasn't helped with my gray hair. I guess I don't use enough.. I kind of live my live and eat and take things by intuition. Like if I think that day my body says okay take a teaspoon of BSM then I do... I am mostly vegetarian with fish and probably don't get enough iron and I also take it to get iron to my heart.. Not everyday but when my body thinks its necessary.. Good Luck with your choice..

Black Strap Molasses Side Effects

I have had insomnia for the last 20+ years with increasing severity. 2 nights ago I wrestled with sleep again. My belly felt hard and bloated, giving me racing heart beat, heat and anxiety. I felt constipated. I remembered BSM being a laxative and took 1 Tablespoon without any food and drank 10 oz of water a few minutes afterwards. My bloating went away and eased my belly.

In the morning I took 1 Tbsp. BSM on empty stomach all by itself, than during the day one more Tbsp. and in the evening before bed time 1 Tbsp. BSM all by itself. I woke up this morning, having the best sleep of my life, ever (and I am 72), deep refreshing and vitalizing 10 hour sleep with only 2 trips to the bath room. I could not believe it.
No side effects what so ever so far. I must also say that I have Leaky Gut which makes my body unable to absorb most nutrients. That is probably the reason why I was so mineral deficient. I would give it a try for what ever is ailing you but remember that it has to be ORGANIC, UNSULPHURED Blackstrap Molasses, otherwise you get concentrated doses of Glyphosate and other chemicals into your system.

I will continue using 3 Tbsp. for 3 more days and than slow down to 2 Tbsp./day and eventually to 1 Tbsp. per day. I don't think it will hurt you with that dosage. But try it for yourself and see how your body reacts to it. Good luck to every body.

P.S. Besides of insomnia, I am also trying to heal my leaky gut and rheumatoid arthritis using BSM as a key supplement.

I got awful insomnia from blackstrap molasses. I think maybe I was taking too much. I put two tablespoons in my dandelion root tea (tastes like coffee! ) and I would sometimes do this twice s day. I am a vegetarian and my body is not used to that much iron. I want a way to incorporate it back into my diet, but I can't function without sleep.

Timing is everything, and 1 tbls a day is sufficient. taken at the 2pm mark is early enough not to affect your sleep.

Starting using Blackstrap Molasses for Insomnia. Worked the very first night and then after. I take one-two tablespoons right before bedtime. I now get a full night sleep, no waking up in the middle of the night.

It gave me the rest that I really needed. I was just recovering from a bad sinus infection. I was unable to sleep due to antihistamine D. Finally, I realized that Black Strap Molasses had loads of minerals. Therefore, I took 1 tablespoon in the morning and 1 tablespoon at night. I slept so well that night, the next day,I was almost late for work.

I take BSM in organic apple cider vinegar every other day and every time I take it before breakfast, it works wonders. My leg pain, alleviates in 30 minutes, so for me it performs the function of Advil. However, when I take it before going to bed, I never wake up in between sleeps and have a good sleep.

For me the ACV is antiflammatory as it relieves me from the leg pain, though for the time being, but it works.

When my mother suffered from low iron and had to take many iron tablets they were not much help. We were told it was not anaemia. She had to have blood transfusions. She remembered an old chemist telling her that molasses ( Blackstrap) together with half an asprin was the best heart medicine. She started taking blackstrap ( not desulphered) raw molasses. It helped her more than anything. I guess you would have to be careful if you were diabetic though. We also noticed that's for her stress levels dropped then her iron count did not go down so fast. Maybe the vitamin B12 in the molasses also has something to do with that.

I tried to donate blood and could not - my blood was iron poor -it was at 7.2 - had to be 7.5 to donate. This was in June of 2011 - so I went on blackstrap molasses and gave blood in jan 2012 - now I am at 12.9 - wow Blackstrap Molasses works for me!!

Excellent note on low iron. Most people lose iron - I found this out, also when I went to give blood: my iron was low because the nurse said that I shouldn't drink tea when I am eating a meal. Very unusual. Evidently, tea lowers the level of iron. I got my blood level up with BSM AND apple cidar vinegar... Drank alot of it in a glass of grapefruit and honey. Yea for BMS. Feel great, sleep better and less leg cramps.

Warning
WARNING!

I was just browsing through some of the information posted and wanted to add my "5 cents".

I should mention, if you do use blackstrap molasses to "blacken your hair" be careful that you do not develop a vitamin B3 deficiency, WHICH IS known as pellagra, which apparently is important for the diet for those with Lupus.

For the man who treated Lupus on a gluten free diet...take head, that this goes right back to a probable involvement of strep as this is the main bacteria that feeds on B-vitamins, as it is essential for them to live. This is especially true if you eat corn products because corn alone can induce pellagra if the corn has not been fortified (i.e.canned corn or corn on the cob, corn chips, or unfortunately for all its good intentions..organic corn producers that do not fortify their processed foods. If you have Lupus and you're going luten free and eating unfortified corn, you're inching closer to pellagra. This one instance where eating a wholesome food (corn) will give you disease (pellagra) if eaten in large quantities and it is not fortified.

You mean that Molasses induce a B3 deficiency? Is this true EC?

EC: Blackstrap Molasses is said to be a good source of B Vitamins, so we're not sure. Conflicting reports on the net re: molasses and lupus. We could not find anything about it causing a B3 deficiency.

Haven't found anything on this yet, but if sorghum and corn are closely related it is possible, I guess. At least heavy corn consumption is listed is one of the causes of B3 deficiency. It seems that alcoholism is one of the major causes. Wonder if that is because a lot of booze is made from corn or because the alcoholic usually drinks too many of his calories instead of eating nutritious foods

I have just bought my first bottle of Black Strap Molasses and have been researching the comments. There was a concern that BSM will deplete Vit B3. I have had a good look at my Unsulphered BSM and it shows to contain 4mg Vit B3 (Niacin) so I am confident that it is actually a source of this vitamin.

This is how things started for me. By the next month my cycle went from 15-16 days to 5. Now it lasts about 3 days and it is not heavy at all. I tried Blackstrap Molasses with Apple Cider Vinegar and it was heavier. I just use Blackstrap Molasses alone.

After taking Blackstrap Molasses for a few weeks, my skin started to clear at a very deep level. I had Milia, small cysts that stay in the skin. These started to clear up miraculously after taking the Blackstrap Molasses. It's wonderful stuff!

As kids we had a chiropractor "prescribe" black strap to us. We were maybe 10 and 7 and we each took a Tablespoon 2x per day so I'm sure the 2 Tablespoon dosage per day for your puppy would work also. Good Luck!

I started taking blackstrap molasses around March 2013. I took it to help with the pain and discomfort of the fibroids I had. Because of the discomfort of eating certain foods, I had been taking Zantac for a few years to ease the discomfort. I realized after a few weeks of taking the molasses, that I had not been taking any gas pills. I can now eat spicy foods, drink milk, and EAT ICE CREAM! Amazing!

The blackstrap molasses is doing way more than why I started taking it. It is suggested to take it first thing in the morning. I take 3 table spoons a day - 2 in the morning and 1 before bed.

I went to the doctor May 2014 for a return PAP and the fibroids shrunk, she could barely feel them. I don't know how fast the syrup shrunk them. I didn't go to the doctor til a year later but I stop feeling the discomfort maybe about 6 months later.

So I've been sharing this info with as many people as I can. My husband takes for his stomach (gas). My mom was taking it for acid reflux and felt better. By best friend took it and it built her iron. One of the sisters at church, who's on dialysis, took it and it helped with diarrhea - she would have 3 - 5 times a week and since she's been taking it, she hasn't had that problem. Another friend has throat cancer and you can now hear him talk clearly.

Try it, what do you have to lose?

when I was first diagnosed with type 2 diabetes I had a slim figure (all my life). Now I am gaining weight and my doctor tells me it is the insulin. Never before have I had high blood pressure - now I have it! I am vegetarian with wheat allergy and walk almost daily close to an hour. I suffer from extreme fatigue.

I never eat junk and almost all crackers are made with canola oil so I won't have them. I will experiment with acv. It has a lot of potassium and is alkaline. By the way, black strap molasses cures arthritis. But now after four years it is coming back because molasses is a problem with diabetes. Apple Cider Vinegar does mitigate arthritic pain. B. St. Molasses is excelent for cancer as it dries up tumours. My dog was thought to have a large tumour but after two years of diluted b st molasses in her food she is healthy with a fabulous coat the colour of which are very vibrant.. In India the sugarcane plantation workers are very poor. So they eat a lot of sugar cane. They have good teeth and never cancer. Our organic store bought molasses must be dissolved in some warm water. Om
